For the people of South Kalimantan, river-based myths provide awareness to make friends with rivers. The aim of this study was to understand the form of myths found in the South Kalimantan’s folklor and itsmeaning which dealing with river. The problem in this research is how is the form and what is the meaning of those folklores. This study used a qualitative descriptive method with literature review. Based on theanalysisresults , the form of myths in the South Kalimantan folklore related with the emergence of figures and the presence of certain animals, while the meaning of the myths related with the presence of figures in the myths itself.Bagi masyarakat Kalimantan Selatan, mitos berbasis sungai memberikan kesadaran untuk bersahabat dengan sungai. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mengetahui wujud mitos-mitos berbasis sungai yang terdapat dalam cerita rakyat Kalimantan Selatan serta makna yang terkandung dalam mitos-mitos berbasis sungai tersebut. Masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana wujud mitos-mitos berbasis sungai yang terdapat dalam cerita rakyat Kalimantan Selatan dan apa makna yang terkandung dalam mitos-mitos berbasis sungai tersebut. Kajian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik kajian pustaka.Berdasarkan hasil analisis dapat diketahui bahwa wujud mitos-mitos dalam cerita rakyat Kalimantan selatan dapat berupa kelahiran tokoh dan keberadaan binatang tertentu serta makna-makna mitos berkaitan dengan keberadaan tokoh-tokoh mitos tersebut.

This study analyzed the effects of the economic linkages between regions Other Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, East Java and East Kalimantan. North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi and Gorontalo aggregated into one unit area of Sulawesi Other. South Sulawesi and West Sulawesi aggregated into a single unit into a region of South Sulawesi. Combined with consideration of South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi because in 2005 both areas are still joined in a single administration. Basic Data 2005 in upgrade to the Year 2011 by using the technique of RAS. The estimated number of sectors as many as 35 sectors. The study analysis showed patterns of economic linkages Other Sulawesi region is relatively lower than other regions. The pattern of economic linkages in South Sulawesi region is relatively better than Other Sulawesi. Role of East Java's economy is very large compared to other regions. The pattern of East Kalimantan's economy is relatively good, but more influenced by oil mining sector. The impact of economic linkages between regions showed Sulawesi region Another economic impact to the region of East Java and East Kalimantan but very little significance to the region of South Sulawesi. Other Sulawesi region provide spillover effect to East Java and East Kalimantan but very little influence to South Sulawesi. The impact of economic linkages East Java provides a very small influence other regions. The impact of economic linkage East Kalimantan region give greater influence to the East Java region than to Other Sulawesi and South Sulawesi region

Background: Malaria has caused high morbidity and mortality rates and has decreased the productivity of human resources and national development. Malaria is endemic in several districts in South Kalimantan. Purpose: This study aims to describe the malaria situation in South Kalimantan by examining the malaria cases, Case Fatality Rate (CFR), Annual Parasite Incidence (API), and Slide Parasite Rate (SPR) in the South Kalimantan Province during the period of 2010–2018. Method: This research was a descriptive study with the South Kalimantan population, who were at risk of getting malaria. This study adopted a total participation technique and included all the cases of malaria recorded in the electronic- Surveillance Information System of Malaria (e-SISMAL) data of South Kalimantan province in the period 2010–2018. The study used secondary data from the South Kalimantan Provincial Health Office during 2010–2018. The data included the number of malaria cases, morbidity, and the mortality rate of malaria. The data collected was analyzed using CFR, API, and the SPR formulae. Results: The number of malaria cases in South Kalimantan from 2010 to 2018 fluctuated. The highest number of malaria cases occurred in 2011, while a decreasing trend was observed up to 2018. At the same time, the number of deaths during 2012–2018 increased. The death rate from 2010–2018 decreased in South Kalimantan. Conclusion: The number of cases as well as deaths caused due to malaria in South Kalimantan continues to decrease. By 2025, all districts in South Kalimantan could be free from malaria.

ABSTRACT The research aims to analyze the influence of Perceived Product Quality And Perceived Service Quality Toward Customer Value, Behavior Intention And Customer Response Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province. The population in this research is the customer Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province. Sampling technique by using accidental sampling with selected respondents must meet predetermined criteria standards. because the population is very much. The number of samples as many as 120 responden, this was according to Ferdinand (2002:48). The analysis was using SPSS and using AMOS 20.0 software. The test results showed that only six hypothesis have a significant effect, namely: Perceived product quality significantly influence toward customer value in Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province, Perceived service quality significantly influence toward customer value in Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province, Perceived product quality significantly influence toward behavior intention customer in Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province, Perceived service quality significantly influence toward behavior intention customer in Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province, customer value significantly influence toward customer respon in Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province, customer intention significantly influence toward customer respon in Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province. While three other hypothesis have not significant namely: customer value have not significant influence to customer intention in Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province, perceived product quality have not significantly influence to customer response in Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province and perceived service quality have not significant influence toward customer response in Residential Area In South Kalimantan Province. In the regional scale of the province in Kalimantan, the spread case appeared in West Kalimantan and East Kalimantan on 18th March 2020, Central Kalimantan on 20th March 2020, South Kalimantan on 22nd March 2020 and North Kalimantan on 29th March 2020. In this case the Covid-19 epidemic was caused by coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). The prediction of the Covid-19 is currently sought. We use the SIR Model to perform basic reproductive value calculations (R0). This model is the mathematic language, interpreted as the number of nativity of a new case due to a person infected with Covid-19 into a fully healthy and potential population for illness or infection by the Covid-19. Using the linear regression, we estimate the value of R0. The value of R0 in Kalimantan region is West Kalimantan (R0 = 1.15), East Kalimantan (R0 = 1.17), Central Kalimantan (R0 = 1.09), South Kalimantan (R0 = 1.24), and North Kalimantan (R0 = 1.20). According to the SIR Model, the highest R0 value is in South Kalimantan, followed by North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan.

Malaria elimination in Kalimantan is targeted to be completed by 2020. This study aimed to analyze efforts to eliminate malaria in South Kalimantan from 2010-2018. This research is a descriptive study of the population of South Kalimantan who is at risk of suffering from malaria. This study used a total participation technique involving all cases of malaria recorded in the malaria surveillance information system (SISMAL) 2010-2018 for South Kalimantan. The data used are secondary data obtained from the South Kalimantan Provincial Health Office in 2010-2018, namely the number of suspected malaria cases, confirmation and inspection, treatment use data, bed nets distribution, village stratification and annual parasite incidence (API) in each district. The results showed that there was the trend of malaria elimination efforts in South Kalimantan was increased from 89% of suspected patients in 2010 to 100% in 2018, and trend of API decreased from 1.5‰ in 2010 to 0.21‰ in 2018. So, with the provision of artemisinin combination therapy (ACT), from 78% in 2010 increased to 100% in 2018. All regencies/cities in South Kalimantan showed API number <1‰ in 2018. Stratification of high case incidence (HCI) villages/sub-district in 2018 decreased compared to 2010, from 211 villages to 19 villages, while malaria-free stratification from 0 in 2010 to 1,761 villages. Malaria elimination efforts in South Kalimantan showed a significant increase and it is expected that 2020 South Kalimantan will be free of malaria.

AbstrakParindra merupakan organisasi pergerakan berpusat di Jawa yang mempunyai cabang organisasi di Kalimantan Selatan. Peranannya di Kalimantan Selatan belum banyak dipublikasikan. Atas dasar alasan itulah, maka kajian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui persebaran organisasi Parindra di Kalimantan Selatan; (2) mengetahui perjuangan Parindra di Kalimantan Selatan; (3) mengetahui tindakan Pemerintah Hindia Belanda terhadap Parindra di Kalimantan Selatan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian sejarah (historical research) dengan menggunakan sebagian besar data primer yakni memoar para pelaku sejarah dari anggota perintis kemerdekaan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa asal mula Parindra di Kalimantan Selatan adalah organisasi Persatuan Bangsa Indonesia (PBI) yang dibentuk pada tahun 1930. Karena berfusinya PBI dengan Budi Utomo dan organisasi lainnya di pulau Jawa menjadi Partai Indonesia Raya (Parindra) di tahun 1935 maka dengan sendirinya PBI di Kalimantan Selatan menjadi Parindra. Perjuangan Parindra di Kalimantan Selatan di antaranya: duduk dalam keanggotaan dewan legislatif (Raad), mendirikan Rukun Tani, Koperasi, Rukun Pelayaran Indonesia (Roepelin), dan Lumbung Padi, Mendirikan organisasi Keputrian, Kepanduan Surya Wirawan, dan Sekolah Parindra, menulis artikel politik dan mengeluarkan mosi menentang peraturan kerja paksa (erakan, rodi). Pemerintah Hindia Belanda menghadapi perjuangan Parindra dengan cara melakukan tindakan pengawasan, pelarangan, dan pembubaran rapat serta penangkapan dan pemenjaraan aktivis Parindra di Kalimantan Selatan. AbstractParindra is a Java-based movement organizations that have branch organization in South Kalimantan. Its role in South Kalimantan has not been widely publicized. Based on that reasons, the study aims are to: (1) determine the distribution of Parindra organization in South Kalimantan; (2) determine Parindra struggle in South Kalimantan; (3) determine the action of Dutch East Indies government against Parindra in South Kalimantan. This research is the historical research by using most of the primary data that the perpetrators of historical memoirs of pioneering independence members. The results show that the origin of Parindra in South Kalimantan is the organization Persatuan Bangsa Indonesia (PBI) was formed in 1930. Since the fusion of PBI with Budi Utomo and other organizations on the island of Java, Indonesia Raya became a Party (Parindra) in 1935 then by itself PBI in South Kalimantan into Parindra. Parindra struggle in South Kalimantan include: sitting in the membership of the legislative council (Raad), established the Pillars of Farmers, cooperatives, Pillars Shipping Indonesia (Roepelin), and Lumbung Padi, Establishing keputrian organization, Scouting Surya Wirawan, and School Parindra, write political articles and issued a motion against the labor regulations (erakan, forced labor). Dutch East Indies government facing Parindra movement with perform acts of supervision, prohibition and dissolution of the meeting as well as the arrest and imprisonment of activists Parindra in South Kalimantan.

KUB chicken is a new breed of local chickens as the result of selection by the Indonesian Research Institute for Animal Production, Ciawi-Bogor. KUB chicken has been developed in South Kalimantan since early December 2013 at farmers assisted by livestock services in South Kalimantan and animal house belongs to the Assesment Institute of Agricultural Technology (AIAT) South Kalimantan. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the potency, production performance, and development opportunities of KUB chicken in South Kalimantan. KUB chickens have several advantages i.e. high egg production (160-180 eggs/hen/year), low brooding (±10%), faster growth, more savory meat taste, and adaptable to environment. Problems encountered in the development of KUB chicken in South Kalimantan are low hatchbility, expensive feed prices, and susceptible to diseases such as Newcastle Disease (ND) and Avian Influenza. Performance of KUB chicken at small farmers in South Kalimantan include egg production 65-67%, egg weight of 36.12-38.12 g/egg, feed consumption 85-105 g/head, feed conversion ratio 3.8-3.9, eggs fertility ranged between 90.21-92.61%, hatchability of eggs is 79.67-81.80% and DOC weight ranged from 34.50-36.86 g/head. Efforts to prevent diseases are the use of herb medicine, ND vaccination, and biosecurity. Appropriate feed technology, disease prevention and strengthen the marketing network are strategies that should be applied to develop KUB chicken in South Kalimantan. This will lead new job and increase farmers’ income.

Forest degradation and deforestation have been pervasive problems in Indonesia and the country is placed second in terms of a high rate of tropical deforestation. Different definitions and different techniques have been used to quantify forest degradation and deforestation in Indonesia, and different factors have been detected as direct and underlying causes. However, almost no quantitative studies have been conducted to relate deforestation and forest degradation to the causes. This study quantifies the rate of forest degradation and deforestation between 2000 and 2009 in three provinces of Indonesia, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan and South East Sulawesi, as a case study. A geographic information system (GIS) was used to generate geographic datasets to allow quantification; accompanied by a descriptive statistical analysis. Land cover in 2000 and 2009 was used as the basis of analysis. A national land use classification was aggregated into 10 different land use classes. Changes in land use between 2000 and 2009 allowed quantification of the rates of forest degradation and deforestation as well as the association between degradation and deforestation and potential causes. Overall, 95% of primary forest degradation in South Kalimantan, 65% in East Kalimantan, and 46% in SE Sulawesi were associated with direct causes such as forest concessions, mining activities and the government-sponsored transmigration program. The selected direct causes explain 56% of secondary forest deforestation in South Kalimantan, 44% in East Kalimantan and 55% in SE Sulawesi. Results of this study also show that forest degradation and deforestation occurred across the official forest areas. Almost 40% of forest degradation in South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan occurred in conservation forests and production forests respectively; while 57% of forest degradation in SE Sulawesi occurred in protected forests. Deforestation occurred 29% and 34% in the production forests of South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan respectively. In SE Sulawesi, 34% of deforestation occurred in watershed protection forests. This study suggests that current practice in the forest resources management in Indonesia is not effective and efficient enough to mitigate and to halt forest degradation and deforestation. This is due to the lack of consistency in implementing forest land use policy, mistaken policy interventions, and non-synchronised policy between central and local governments. Policy reform is needed to conserve the remaining forest resources and mega-diversity of Indonesia.

Monitoring large forest areas is presently feasible with satellite remote sensing as opposed to time-consuming and expensive ground surveys as alternative. This study evaluated, for the first time, the potential of using freely available medium resolution (30 m) Landsat time series data for deforestation monitoring in tropical rainforests of Kalimantan, Indonesia, at sub-annual time scales. A simple, generic, data-driven algorithm for deforestation detection based on a consecutive anomalies criterion was proposed. An accuracy assessment in the spatial and the temporal domain was carried out using high-confidence reference sample pixels interpreted with the aid of multi-temporal very high spatial resolution image series. Results showed a promising spatial accuracy, when three consecutive anomalies were required to confirm a deforestation event. Recommendations in tuning the algorithm for different operational use cases were provided within the context of satisfying REDD+ requirements, depending on whether spatial accuracy or temporal accuracy need to be optimized.

[Truncated abstract] The initial success of the Green Revolution notwithstanding, the ability of our planet to produce sufficient food to support its growing population is causing growing concern. Indonesia, like many other countries, cannot produce sufficient rice to feed its people. This creates an imperative to import rice that Indonesia wishes to overcome. In addition, agricultural intensification has created ecological contamination from overuse and the mismanagement of chemical inputs. These problems threaten the sustainability of agricultural lands and Indonesia's ability to support national food selfsufficiency. The extension of agricultural lands is one alternative that has been implemented by the Indonesian government for more than two decades. Families from the crowded islands of Java and Bali have been translocated to the outer islands of Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua. In South Kalimantan, the tidal swampland areas are one of the resettlement destinations; which are usually reclaimed for the purpose of increasing rice production. However, the difference between the natural characteristics, socialeconomics, language, and culture in South Kalimantan, compared with the homelands of the transmigrant farmers, has the potential to adversely affect the farming activities of both the transmigrant and the local indigenous farmers. This in turn might affect the sustainability of the tidal wetlands for agricultural production. It may also damage the ecological integrity of the coastal environment ... The research findings indicate that farming practices by the groups differed significantly. Similarly, there was a significant difference between the cultivation of traditional rice varieties and the HYV. Farming practices performed by the indigenous local farmers, who have lived in the swamplands for centuries, were more ecologically sustainable than those of their transmigrant counterparts in both of the tidal swamplands being assessed. Likewise, traditional (indigenous) rice variety cultivation appears to be more sustainable than the HYVs. Among the socio-economic and agronomic influences of the farming practices selected for statistical analysis, only the non-formal education variable had a significant impact on the sustainability index. Tidal swampland Type B has lower yields than Type A, but in both swampland types, indigenous farmers produce higher yields than the transmigrant farmers, while the HYV has a higher yield over the traditional one. Indigenous farmers received higher financial returns per ha compared to the transmigrant returns in tidal swampland Type A and Type B. The higher yields produced by the HYVs are not accompanied by a higher financial return per ha compared to the traditional variety. The conclusions of this research are that not only are indigenous farming practices more sustainable but that indigenous farmers achieve a higher overall output and higher returns per ha from their farming activities. Future research should be formulated to further investigate the implications for both increasing rice production and sustainability by extending the use of indigenous farming systems. The sustainability index developed in this research should be investigated for adaptation in other areas of Indonesia and possibly by other farming areas internationally.

Resumo:

Between 1981 and 1982 the Banjarmasin Quadrangle in South-East Kalimantan was mapped by the Geological Research and Development Centre, Bandung at the scale of 1 : 250,000. This thesis reports the results of a follow-up study to the mapping programme, which was directed towards determining the age, origin and tectonic evolution of the Pre-Tertiary rocks which form the Meratus Mountains in the eastern part of the Banjarmasin Sheet. The study consists of detailed field-mapping of Pre-Tertiary rocks in well exposed river sections at the scale of 1:10,000. Measured sections of sedimentary units were made and all structural features were recorded. A comprehensive collection of rock samples was made for laboratory studies. Thin sections were used to determine the composition and origin of sedimentary and igneous rocks. Macro-and microfossils have been examined to determine the depositional environments and the ages of the sedimentary units. From these studies the Pre-Tertiary rocks are divided into a number of tectonostratigraphic units, whose age, origin, structural and tectonic evolution has been determined as far as possible. This information has been used to compile a synthesis of the tectonic development of the Meratus Mountains in the context of plate tectonics and the development of the western Indonesian region. Isotopic and palaeontological dating has shown that the units exposed in the Meratus Mountains range in age from Early Cretaceous to Early Palaeocene. The oldest unit is the Paniungan Formation of Berriasian to Barremian age. It grades upward into the Upper Barremian to Lower Aptian Batununggal Formation. These formations are interpreted as shelf to slope sediments. It is suggested that shortly after deposition, most parts of the shelf to slope sediments were juxtaposed by strike-slip faulting with oceanic crust now represented by the Meratus Ophiolite Complex. Subduction generated a calcalkaline volcanic arc which then collided with the Sunda continent in the Cenomanian time. This collision zone was disrupted and sliced by strike-slip faults, forming a pull-apart basin within it. The absence of Palaeocene to Lower Eocene deposits reflects uplift, subsequently followed by rifting, regional subsidence and deposition of an Eocene-Miocene transgressive sequence. The present configuration of the Meratus Mountains resulted from late Middle Miocene and Plio-Pleistocene tectonic events.

This study aims at investigating similarities and differences in the curriculum development processes in two selected pesantrens in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. The research explores the involvement of key stakeholders in the curriculum development processes and the curriculum itself. The study is a qualitative approach, which, in collecting the data, employs in-depth interviews with the kyais (leaders), ustadzs (teachers), and santris (students); observation on the pesantrens’ daily life and classroom activities; and relevant documentation. The findings suggest that there are similarities and differences in both pesantrens in the curriculum development processes. Both pesantrens can be classified as Site-Based Managed Schools in which all interactions of the members are permeated with some values. However, Pesantren A has a rather collaborative and goal-oriented curriculum development process, while Pesantren B tended to conduct a single-handed and content-oriented one. The curriculum of Pesantren A is a subject-based curriculum accommodating both religious and non-religious disciplines in relatively the same proportion, whereas that of Pesantren B is a kitab (book)-based curriculum accommodating largely religious disciplines. Overall, it was found that both pesantrens need to conduct more collaborative and systematic curriculum processes. To do so, since ustadzs have a significant influence on the curriculum, there is a need for well-directed and organised professional development programs focusing on pedagogical issues. There is also a need to set some indicators for curriculum evaluation based on the context of Islamic education and immediate societal demands.

Motivated by a dearth of research on stressors, job stress, and employee performance associated with the phenomenon of outsourcing system adopted by organizations. The present article has written much ink regarding the relationship between stressors, job stress, and employee performance among outsourcing employees in Pertamina, Exploration and Production Business Unit, Tanjung, South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Given that, we posit job stress as a mediator, hierarchical regression analysis proposed by Baron and Kenny was employed in order to examine the relationship. Moreover, data were obtained from 209 workers who enrolled as an outsourcing employee. As expected, the current article revealed that job stress fully mediates the relationship between stressors and employee performance. Besides, the article conveyed clearly the empirical relationship between stressors, job stress, and employee performance which is not only significant, but also portrayed a curve relationship. Ultimately, the academic and practical implications were discussed.

Resumo:

This chapter introduces ten case studies of how local knowledge is generated, managed and used for influencing policy and community practices. The cases are from Aceh, Java, South Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, Kalimantan and Maluku, and address issues such as forest management, water resources, maritime resource management, financial services, resistance against exploitative mining, health insurance and other community development topics. The stories present diverse understanding about what the knowledge to policy process means for local actors and how different communities can engage in the policy process; however, they share the same belief that involving citizen and communities in policymaking will lead to better policy through democratization of public policy making process.
