This paper is mainly about the use of solar energy in life to make a summary, and how to improve the utilization of these aspects to make suggestions. Sunlight transmits electricity to the earth all the time. If the total radiation power from sunlight to the earth is converted into power generation power, it can reach 1.77× kW, which is several hundred million times larger than the current global per capita consumption of electricity. There are not only a lot of sunlight, but also all green energy sources from sunlight, such as wind energy, tidal energy, microbial energy, hydraulic energy, etc., all belong to renewable energy sources. As long as there is sunlight, renewable energy sources are as constant as sunlight. In the process of the efficient development and utilization of solar energy, the photovoltaic utilization of nuclear energy has become the fastest progress around the whole world in recent years, the most vitality of the scientific research field.

Taking the UK as a case study, this paper describes current energy use and a range of sustainable energy options for the future, including solar power and other renewables. I focus on the area involved in collecting, converting and delivering sustainable energy, looking in particular detail at the potential role of solar power. Britain consumes energy at a rate of about 5000 watts per person, and its population density is about 250 people per square kilometre. If we multiply the per capita energy consumption by the population density, then we obtain the average primary energy consumption per unit area, which for the UK is 1.25 watts per square metre. This areal power density is uncomfortably similar to the average power density that could be supplied by many renewables: the gravitational potential energy of rainfall in the Scottish highlands has a raw power per unit area of roughly 0.24 watts per square metre; energy crops in Europe deliver about 0.5 watts per square metre; wind farms deliver roughly 2.5 watts per square metre; solar photovoltaic farms in Bavaria, Germany, and Vermont, USA, deliver 4 watts per square metre; in sunnier locations, solar photovoltaic farms can deliver 10 watts per square metre; concentrating solar power stations in deserts might deliver 20 watts per square metre. In a decarbonized world that is renewable-powered, the land area required to maintain today's British energy consumption would have to be similar to the area of Britain. Several other high-density, high-consuming countries are in the same boat as Britain, and many other countries are rushing to join us. Decarbonizing such countries will only be possible through some combination of the following options: the embracing of country-sized renewable power-generation facilities; large-scale energy imports from country-sized renewable facilities in other countries; population reduction; radical efficiency improvements and lifestyle changes; and the growth of non-renewable low-carbon sources, namely ‘clean’ coal, ‘clean’ gas and nuclear power. If solar is to play a large role in the future energy system, then we need new methods for energy storage; very-large-scale solar either would need to be combined with electricity stores or it would need to serve a large flexible demand for energy that effectively stores useful energy in the form of chemicals, heat, or cold.

<p>This review is inspired by the increasing shortage of fresh water in areas of the world, and is written in response to the expanding demand for sustainable technologies due to the prevailing crisis of depleting natural water resources. It focuses on comprehending different solar energy-based technologies. Since the increasing population has resulted in the rising demand for freshwater, desalination installation volume is rapidly increasing globally. Conventional ways of desalination technologies involve the use of fossil fuels to extract thermal energy which imparts adverse impacts on the environment. To lessen the carbon footprint left by energy-intensive desalination processes, the emphasis has shifted to using renewable energy sources to drive desalination systems. The growing interest in combining solar energy with desalination with an emphasis on increasing energy efficiency has been sparked by the rapid advancements in solar energy technology, particularly solar thermal. This review paper aims to reflect various developments in solar thermal desalination technologies and presents prospects of solar energy-based desalination techniques. This paper reviews direct and indirect desalination techniques coupled with solar energy, and goes on to explain recent trends in technologies. This review also summarizes the emerging trends in the field of solar thermal desalination technologies. The use of nanoparticles and photo-thermal materials for localized heating in solar desalination systems has decreased energy consumption and enhanced the efficiency of the system. Solar power combined with emerging processes like membrane distillation (MD) has also a recent resurgence.</p>

<p>Transformation of salty seawater into fresh water by the aid of solar energy is one of the solutions for overcoming the lack of these waters with an eco-friendly procedure. The use of solar stills is one of the solutions that use solar energy with a simple design to produce fresh water in small to moderate amounts. Hemispherical solar stills are one kind of still design that does not require a particle rotational orientation, and they have proved to be more efficient than traditional designs. Solar stills generally possess a low thermal efficiency, with limitations of working hours, i.e., only daytime. To overcome these problems, rocks placed in the saline water basin are used as heat storage materials to increase the working period of the design. In the present work, different amounts of river rocks are utilized to study the effect of this addition experimentally. Steady state tests are conducted to study the influence of these additive rocks on the enhancement of solar energy absorption, since increased working time is assured by published research. Two volumes of rocks (300 mL and 600 mL) were tested, and both increased water productivity, by 52% and 58%, respectively. The increases are explained by the increases in solar energy absorption, since steady state cases were used.</p>

The paper deals with the “solar energy”, one of the areas of green energy in detail. In the modern world, the solar energy is considered the most perspective source of alternative energy with a great potential. The solar technologies turn the sun rays into the power energy via the photovoltaic (PV) panels or the mirrors accumulating solar radiation. The solar panels are used to obtain the power from solar energy while solar collectors are used for the heat and hot water supply. Solar panels are the devices developed from the light-sensitive semiconductor materials and turning solar energy into the power through the photoelements consisting of several layers in a general frame. Moreover, the movement of power energy depends on how high the light intensity is. The solar energy is produced via the the solar panels as the direct current (DC), and subsequently, power transisters – inventors turning this energy into the alternating current (AC) are used to integrate it to the network. In addition, the author marks that Azerbaijan has high potential of solar energy, as well as the projects implemented in this sphere by the State. The stations in the balance of the “Azalternativeenergy” LTD under the State Renewable Energy Sources Agency – Wind Power Station under Gobustan Hybrid Power Station, Solar and Biogas Power Stations are operated conjointly. Surakhany, Pirallahy, Sahil, Samukh, Sumgayit Solar Power Stations are described in detail. At the same time, it is noted that solar generation devices with small power have been installed by “Azalternativeenergy” LTD in thirteen social facilities, through which power supply and seasonal heat supply in nineteen social facilities are carried out as well.

The article examines the requirements for the creation of an autonomous university, considers alternative measures to solve energy saving problems, shows the effectiveness and necessity of conducting an energy audit of the institution, indicates the actions performed by Khmelnytskyi National University in the framework of energy saving. The methodology for evaluating the effectiveness of measures is similar to the calculation of current energy consumption and energy consumption for the previous representative period. The difference is that when evaluating energy-saving measures, it is necessary to predict how the situation will change after their implementation. This entails a change in many coefficients, such as the rate of energy consumption, the power utilization coefficient, the duration of equipment operation during the year. To save energy, Khmelnytskyi National University built its own boiler house with a capacity of 3,900 kW, which made it possible to disconnect several buildings from the city-wide heat supply network. Solar power plants were put into operation, solar panels were placed on the roofs of the buildings of the educational institution, educational and production bases, sports complex The implementation of the latest technologies for the production and consumption of energy resources, as well as technologies involving the use of alternative energy sources, is possible on the basis of a previously conducted comprehensive energy audit. The feasibility of building an autonomous heating system, which made it possible to disconnect the main buildings from the city-wide heat supply network, has been proven. Taking measures to insulate walls, replace the water supply system, and use heating points increases the energy efficiency of resource use. In addition, the introduction of alternative energy systems, the creation of own solar power plants and modern control systems for them allows you to optimize lighting costs per hectare, reduce costs for electricity needs, and even make money from sales using the “green tariff”. In this way, any higher educational institution can organize and conduct its own measures to increase the energy-efficient consumption of energy resources, conduct information campaigns, involving students and teachers. This will not only improve the energy situation at the university, but will also help save energy at home.

The paper seeks to identify factors led some farmers to use renewable energy in their poultry farms. The research was a practical study in terms of goal and a descriptive-correlation study in terms of methodology. The population of the study was composed of Semnan Province poultry farmers that used any type of renewable energy in their farms. Based on the farmer's viewpoints, the most important factors made farmers use renewable energy in their poultries were poultry farm revenue, bank loans with low interest rate, and technology and equipment availability. Also, according to stepwise regression, 78.4% of the variance of the dependent variable was accounted for by the variables of economic, technical, subsidies reform, and policies factors. Therefore, financial incentives such as bank loans with low interest, distribution of technical equipment requirements and supportive legislation can be effective on the development of renewable energy use among other farmers.Article History: Received Nov 16th 2016; Received in revised form January 12nd 2017; Accepted 3rd February 2017; Available onlineHow to Cite This Article: Mohammadi, M and Yavari, G.
<p>High energy dependence on fossil fuels and an increase in greenhouse gas emissions are factors that highlight the need for alternative energy sources. Photovoltaic technology is a strong candidate that uses the most abundant resource, solar energy, but what makes its wide use difficult is the high cost of the commercially available devices. Thus, research has been devoted to developing new low-cost photovoltaic systems that are easier to manufacture with high efficiency and durability, such as the third-generation solar cells. According to this study, organic solar cells (OPV) with polymers in the active layers are more prominent concerning power conversion efficiency associated with durability, resulting in great research interest. Furthermore, polymer solar cells are easier to process and can be manufactured on a large scale achieving high efficiencies and stability. This review aims to raise the state of the art about these solar cells, discourse their architectures, current developments on polymer structures, and most relevant challenges for OPV devices, as a search for increased efficiency and stability.</p>

Currently, 80% of conventional energy is used to fulfill general public's needs andindustries. The depletion of oil and gas reserves and rapid growth in conventional energyconsumption have continuously forced us to discover renewable energy sources, like solar, wind, biomass, and hydropower, to support economic development in the future. Solar energy travels at aspeed of 186,000 miles per second. Only a small part of the radiant energy that the sun emits intospace ever reaches the Earth, but that is more than enough to supply all our energy demand.Indonesia is a tropical country and located in the equator line, so it has an abundant potential ofsolar energy. Most of Indonesian area get enough intensity of solar radiation with the average dailyradiation around 4 kWh/m2. Basically, the solar systems use solar collectors and concentrators forcollecting, storing, and using solar radiation to be applied for the benefit of domestics, commercials, and industrials. Common applications for solar thermal energy used in industry are the SWHs, solardryers, space heating, cooling systems and water desalination.

<p>In this work, the use of solar thermal energy in the Nordic Countries, especially in Denmark, is studied. Renewable energies, such as solar, are an important ally in the fight against Climate Change, with more countries betting on them. In the past, it may have been believed that the Nordic Region does not have enough solar radiation for solar energy to be profitable, but changes in the climate and technology have proven this statement to be wrong. The case of Denmark is a clear example, which has become a leading country when it comes to solar thermal energy. A study of the current Danish solar thermal market is conducted in this project in order to understand how this country is making the most out of this energy source. Three different plants are studied (Silkeborg, Vollerup and Gr?sten) and compared to those of other Nordic Countries (Akershus from Norway and H?meenlinna from Finland). It was found that the main difference between them is the size of the Photovoltaic (PV) parks. Whilst Denmark specialised in large-scale plants with a two-phase building process, the other countries are only using small-scale installations. After a deeper understanding of the Danish energy market, it is concluded that there is a solar thermal energy policy that allows its exploitation. Furthermore, an increase in the level of solar radiation in Denmark over the last decade has led Danish experts to believe that solar energy in the Nordic Countries is going to be even more profitable in the following years. It is believed that Denmark will continue its current expansion into this market and also that the other Nordic countries will soon enough join.</p>

The article discusses the possibility of using solar air collectors for heating livestock buildings. The disposable amount of solar energy in the Samara region is determined during the winter months when the outdoor temperature drops below the critical level, at which biological heat release from animals does not compensate for heat loss through outdoor fences, and a defi cit of heat in the premises for their maintenance begins. The calculation of the heat output of the solar heating system and the degree of substitution of the required heat load is given using the example of a cowhouse. Based on the calculations performed, the feasibility of using the heat of solar energy in livestock buildings is estimated. In the current energy and environmental context it is imperative to implement systems based on renewable energy sources in order to reduce energy consumptions worldwide. Solar collectors are studied by many years and many researchers are focusing their attention in order to increase their efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Water solar collectors are often implemented for domestic hot water, heating or industrial processes and already have a place on the market. A promising system which is not yet widely known is represented by air solar collectors that could represent an efficient way to use the solar energy with a lower investment cost, a system that can be used in order to preheat the fresh air required for heating, drying, or to maintain a minimum temperature during winter. This paper presents a comprehensive literature review on air solar collectors used mainly in buildings, acting as a solar wall. Air solar collectors are roughly classified into two types: glazed and opaque. The present study comprises the solar collector classification, applications and their main parameters with a special focus on opaque solar collectors.

The depletion of fossil fuels, economic concerns over the sharp fluctuations in oil prices, and environmental concerns including global warming have renewed interest in alternative green energy solutions in the form of renewable energy technologies. Solar energy is one of the most promising and environmentally friendly forms of renewable energy for power generation. However, energy transition towards renewables has been slow in developing countries, particularly in the oil-rich Arab Gulf countries. To assess the perspective of Omani consumers in terms of solar energy use, barriers, and readiness to use solar energy for sustainable development, this study aims to determine the proportion of the Omani population who use solar energy, the barriers to solar energy consumption in Oman, people’s perceptions towards solar energy barriers, policies aimed at promoting solar energy programs, and the likelihood and willingness to use solar energy in the future. This analysis is based on quantitative data collected through a questionnaire survey distributed in Oman between 20 June 2023 to 12 August 2023. We used 113 samples for analysis using Principal Component Analysis and Krushkal–Wallis H-tests. Our results revealed that 95% of the residents and commercial units surveyed are willing to use solar PV in the future. The main barriers identified include high installation costs, high maintenance costs, and lack of awareness. The potential for growth in solar energy consumption and use depends on the capacity of the government to provide substantial incentives, financial support, improved quality, implement public-private partnership programs, as well as introduce a clear solar energy policy. While evaluating consumers’ awareness and intentions to use solar energy in the future, this study offers practical implications for policymakers to forecast the potential growth, identify effective policy instruments for promoting renewable energy, and determine the readiness of the country for transition to cleaner energy consumption.

The operation of many of the engineering systems that are necessary for the functioning of a detached residential building depends on specific sources of alternative energy, the use of which can significantly reduce the consumption of traditional fossil energy resources. A review of scientific works devoted to the operation of engineering systems using alternative energy sources is given. Several schemes of power equipment have been developed to obtain thermal and electrical energy supplied to isolated consumers. When designing a fixed technical solar system using solar radiation for operation, the locations of all power equipment, the solar receiver pitch on the roof of the building and the values of its optimal angle of inclination to the horizon were determined. A scheme of a small transportable hydroelectric power plant has been developed, which generates electric energy using the pressure created by the flow of water. A thermal refrigeration unit is designed, which uses the heat of the air removed from the animal stall to heat the heated medium.

Solar energy is clean and easily available everywhere. It is trapped by a device called a solar collector. Solar collectors are used to utilize solar energy. Generally, the performances of the solar collector are low. Nanofluid is used in solar collectors to boost up the performance of the solar collector. This paper presents a review of the literature on the role of nanofluids in various types of solar collectors. It is found that the performance of the solar collector improves by using nanofluids as a heat transfer medium.

The use of solar shading can have an important influence on the internal heat gains, especially in zero-energy buildings. However, the research in literature is almost uniquely focused on offices, while information on the use of solar shading in residential dwellings is lacking. Therefore, the solar shading behaviour of occupants of a nearly zero-energy social housing neighbourhood in Belgium is analysed. Data are gathered by solar shading logging with a building monitoring system, logbooks and cross-sectional surveys. In general, the solar shades were not often adjusted, with many of the solar shades either always opened or always closed. Clear seasonal influences were observed; however, the temperature and solar irradiance did not reveal a significant relationship with the use of the solar shading. This relationship could be biased by the fact that some of the occupants use the solar shades not to prevent solar heat gains but to darken the room in the evening (blinds). Since the shades are not often adjusted and are thus in the same position for a long time, the use is independent of the prevailing weather conditions. The position of the solar shades seems to be more influenced by the personal preference of the occupant than by external factors. Additional simulations, carried out with Modelica, showed that when the full capacity of the solar shades is used, the overheating can be decreased up to 29% in south oriented rooms. The possible negative impact on the heating demands can be neglected. This shows the necessity to correctly model the solar shading behaviour in residential buildings, especially in nearly zero-energy buildings, for which the cooling demands are increasingly important.

<p>The use of phase change materials in solar thermal collectors improves their thermal performance significantly. In this paper, a comparative study is conducted systematically between two solar receivers. The first receiver contains paraffin wax, while the other does not. The goal was to find out to which degree paraffin wax can enhance the energy storage and thermal efficiency of evacuated tubes solar collectors. Measurements of water temperature and solar radiation were recorded on a few days during August of 2021. The experimental analysis depended on two stages. The first stage had a flow rate of 7 L/hr, and the second stage had no flow rate. A flow rate of 7 L/hr gave an efficiency of 47.7% of the first receiver with phase-change material, while the second conventional receiver had an efficiency rate of 40.6%. The thermal efficiency of the first receiver during the day at which no flow rate was applied was 41.6%, while the second one had an efficiency rate of 35.2%. The study's significant results indicated that using paraffin wax in solar evacuated tube water-in-glass thermal collectors can enhance their thermal energy storage by about 8.6% and efficiency by about 7%. Moreover, the results revealed that the solar thermal collector containing paraffin wax had an annual cost of 211 USD/year. At the same time, the receiver's yearly fuel cost was 45 USD. Compared to an electrical geyser, the annual cost reached 327 USD, with an annual fuel cost equaled 269 USD. The first receiver's payback period was 5.35 years.</p>

Abstract Electricity consumption will more than treble by 2050. Despite its enormous potential as an environmentally benign power generation technology, solar energy only accounts for a small portion of worldwide demand. One of the issues is the sustainable use of land resources. Energy technology is a popular engineering discipline that deals with the study of conventional and unconventional energy sources in today’s world. The objective of the work is to use conventional energy sources to produce non-traditional energy sources and focus on the study of floating solar collectors with the use of the solar hybrid power plant. Further the focus is on the use of photovoltaic solar panels which use hydroelectricity all year round where it is a non-traditional source and we can use it during the year with the help of, which have a non-conventional energy source. Solar energy is abundant.

Fossil fuels power most of our society, yet they will not last forever. The search for alternative sources of energy have yielded only fleeting promises of change. Of the many types of sustainable energy, solar energy seems to be the most promising, however, solar energy is not without its flaws. This paper will explore the history and mechanics of solar energy, it will also feature a specific focus on the use of solar energy in the Korean economy. In order to ascertain whether or not solar energy may provide a sufficient alternative to fossil fuels for Korea’s primary source of energy, it will be necessary to conduct a cost/benefit analysis of solar energy. After conducting thorough research on the topic and based on the evidence to be provided in this paper, it is concluded that while solar energy has the potential to serve as a replacement for fossil fuels in Korean energy production, it is not yet ready to take on that role. It will be necessary to further develop the technology involved in the capture, storage, and use of solar energy, before it serves as a significant source of power.

Abstract In this work, the reduction of greenhouse gas emission, and the energy saving by integrating solar collectors and photovoltaic panels in a Stirling engine based microcombined cooling, heating and power (mCCHP) system are studied. The mCCHP system consists of a natural gas Stirling CHP and an adsorber chiller. When the thermal outputs of the Stirling CHP and solar collectors are not sufficient to cover the heat demand for domestic hot water (DHW), heating/cooling, an auxiliary heating boiler starts to operate. The energy saving by using solar energy varies from 13.35% in December to 59.62% in April, in the case of solar collectors usage and from 7.47% in December to 28.27% in July, in the case of photovoltaic panels usage. By using solar energy the annual GHG emission decreases by 31.98% and the fuel cost reduction varies from 12.73% in December to 49.78% in June.

The article considers problems and prospects of development of energy saving technologies in construction. The possible directions of improving the construction of residential facilities with the aim of increasing their efficiency are considered, taking into account different technologies. The main emphasis is on the use of solar panels as one of the most effective ways of saving resources. The maximum level of heliotropia for the Central black earth region is determined. To increase the efficiency of the solar battery it is proposed to develop a rotary device that allows you to change the angle of the battery in the vertical and horizontal planes. The dynamics of rotation in the horizontal plane should depend on the time of day, in the horizontal – season. The article presents the problem of determining the speed of rotation of the solar battery in the direction of the solar azimuth and relative to the horizon during the day, allowing you to use a slewing device with maximum efficiency. Increase efficiency when using the rotary mechanism will reduce the number of solar batteries with the same capacity of electricity consumption. Also the problem of determining the optimal number of solar panels.

Alternative energy has begun to develop over time, such as thermal stoves that use solar energy as a heat source for cooking. The solar cooker must be of high quality, affordable, user friendly, lightweight and, stackable. A thermal solar cooker can cook a meal because the plates are heated by the sun's energy. Sunlight enters the pan or thermal solar panel and reflected toward the can or heated object. Then, Sunlight turns into heat energy.Thermal stove performance analysis was carried out starting from 09:00 WIB to 16:00 WIB. The most efficient time to use a thermal stove is 13:00 WIB, it is recorded that 350 ml of water from a temperature of 27℃ reaches a temperature of 83℃ with a heating duration of 55 minutes. One of the conclusion of this study is the time of heating influenced by weather temperature. Last, to shorten the time, then we must use the shape of sun catcher like a parabola.

Energy has become a detrimental factor for survival and progress of anthropology. For the past decade, we have become totally dependent on unlimited and continuous supply of electrical energy. However, the generation of such huge amount of electrical energy is done from nonrenewable sources of energy like coal, oil gas etc. This way of producing electricity involves heavy consumption of non-conventional sources of energy and has given rise to the ominous problem of global warming. Thus, energy conservation has become an important concern all over the world. Switching to the use of renewable sources like solar, wind and hydro energy has become a recent trend. This is the reason why our project, aims to maximise the use of solar energy by analyzing the present system such that it can be beneficial for the economy of our country. The analysing process is done using the smart meter, which captures the readings on an hourly basis.

Due to the harsh effects of fossil fuels on the world, researchers are paying more attention to the application of new energy sources. This paper explores the possibility to support electric vehicles with solar energy by demonstrating the design of a solar cooling system and a solar parking lot in a large flat area and workspace. The use of solar energy in electric vehicles can help control some systems such as cooling systems. Solar panels are used in some large flat parking area to collect and invert solar energy for parking electric vehicles’ charging. Solar panels are able to help charge electric vehicles during the workday by setting them on the surface of working area. However, due to the limitations of solar energy, solar panels are very much in need of good weather and direct sunlight. Therefore, solar energy cannot be the only source to support other powered vehicles. In the future, developments in other areas such as inverters and converters, solar panels, and nanotechnology may make the use of solar energy in green energy vehicles possible.
