Resumo:
The first part of this work have been analyzed the notion of the socialization as well as different interpretation of it given by numerous theoreticians. The central part of the work has been dedicated to resources of the socialization: family, same age friends, educational institutions, religion, culture, media and political systems with its own ideology and politics. The final part of work have been tried to show, how one-side socialization (without personal components) causes massive culture and "massive" of the society. It's suitable "field" for totalitarian regimes, which always try to turn citizens into "slaves" by depriving their natural and acquired rights, which have been fought during history.

Successfully assimilating salespeople into an organization is a critical responsibility of sales managers, but little published research has explored this topic. The authors test a model of salesforce assimilation (socialization). The findings indicate that realism and congruence are important antecedents to several desirable job-related outcomes.

Resumo:
This descriptive study was concerned with parents beliefs and behaviors with respect to their children's pocket-money allowance (“Taschengeld”) in order to investigate their attempts to socialize their children into the economic world. Some 238 German parents completed a questionnaire looking at attitude toward, beliefs about, and uses of allowances to educate their children. Nearly all (99.6%) believed children over 5 years should receive pocket money on a weekly basis, but that the pocket money should not be dependent on their doing household chores. Parents were in favor of their children saving, though strongly against their borrowing and lending money. A factor analysis of a 15-item attitudinal scale yielded five clear interpretable factors. Regressional analyses showed that parental gender and income/salary were the best predictors of beliefs and attitude toward allowances. Comparison between this data and the British data of Furnham (1999) shows both similarities and differences, albeit mainly in degree. The results are discussed in terms of parental theories about how to economically educate their children.

Resumo:
During the professional socialization process, nascent professionals internalize the moral values of their profession. Since professional socialization begins in professional schools, this article provides a new conceptual framework for professional ethics education which highlights the affective aspects of moral formation. To create the conceptual framework, this article synthesizes the ideas of Durkheim, Kohlberg, Hoffman, and Haidt on moral formation, with Durkheim as a common thread. In this conceptual framework, the internalization process is influenced and promoted by social discipline, which includes both cognitive and affective aspects. Desirable social discipline can be achieved when cognition and affect are well-balanced, with respect for individual differences. To illustrate how this conceptual framework can be applied to professional education, this article uses the specific example of engineering ethics education.

Resumo:
This article sets the stage for a special issue exploring group-level dynamics and their role in producing violence. My analytic focus is socialization, or the process through which actors adopt the norms and rules of a given community. I argue that it is key to understanding violence in many settings, including civil war, national militaries, post-conflict societies and urban gangs. While socialization theory has a long history in the social sciences, I do not simply pull it off the shelf, but instead rethink core features of it. Operating in a theory-building mode and drawing upon insights from other disciplines, I highlight its layered and multiple nature, the role of instrumental calculation in it and several relevant mechanisms – from persuasion, to organized rituals, to sexual violence, to violent display. Equally important, I theorize instances where socialization is resisted, as well as the (varying) staying power of norms and practices in an individual who leaves the group. Empirically, the special issue explores the link between socialization and violence in paramilitary patrols in Guatemala; vigilantes in the Bosnian civil war; gangs in post-conflict Nicaragua; rebel groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo, El Salvador, Sierra Leone and Uganda; post-conflict peacekeepers; and the US and Israeli military. By documenting this link, we contribute to an emerging research program on group dynamics and conflict.
