AbstractThe genera Lepidothyris, Lygosoma and Mochlus comprise the writhing or supple skinks, a group of semi-fossorial, elongate-bodied skinks distributed across the Old World Tropics. Due to their generalized morphology and lack of diagnostic characters, species- and clade-level relationships have long been debated. Recent molecular phylogenetic studies of the group have provided some clarification of species-level relationships, but a number of issues regarding higher level relationships among genera still remain. Here we present a phylogenetic estimate of relationships among species in Lygosoma, Mochlus and Lepidothyris generated by concatenated and species tree analyses of multilocus data using the most extensive taxonomic sampling of the group to date. We also use multivariate statistics to examine species and clade distributions in morpho space. Our results reject the monophyly of Lygosoma s.l., Lygosoma s.s. and Mochlus, which highlights the instability of the current taxonomic classification of the group. We, therefore, revise the taxonomy of the writhing skinks to better reflect the evolutionary history of Lygosoma s.l. by restricting Lygosoma for Southeast Asia, resurrecting the genus Riopa for a clade of Indian and Southeast Asian species, expanding the genus Mochlus to include all African species of writhing skinks and describing a new genus in Southeast Asia.

The modern classification of skinks is based on a nomenclature that dates to the 1970s. However, there are a number of earlier names in the family group that have been overlooked by recent workers. These names are identified and their validity with respect to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature investigated, along with their type genera. In most cases, use of these names to supplant junior synonyms in modern day use is avoidable by use of the Reversal of Precedence articles of the Code, but the names remain available in case of future divisions at the tribe and subtribe level. Other names are unavailable due to homonymy, either of their type genera or the stems from similar but non-homonymous type genera. However, the name Egerniini is replaced by Tiliquini, due to a limited timespan of use of Egerniini. A new classification of the Family Scincidae is proposed, providing a more extensive use of Code-regulated levels of classification, including tribes and subtribes, and a detailed synonymy provided for each taxonomic unit.

Abstract Soil classification systems provide a common language for scientific communication, represent the diversity of soils and create a scientific basis for soil management, monitoring and conservation. There are several soil classifications currently in use in Russia. Teaching soil systematics to students at the Faculty of Soil Science of the LMSU has developed over the years to meet specific requirements at different stages of education. Students learn to use and correlate different classification systems. Bachelor’s students study classifications to enable professional communication and describing soil diversity. Master’s students further learn the key principles of soil formation, historical and current trends in the development of soil science and the international terminology of soil science. Studying different aspects of the theory and practice of soil classification at different stages of education gives our students a solid base for systematising their knowledge and acquiring skills in scientific research.

Blended learning learning pattern is a combination of conventional learning patterns and e-learning. The concept of blended learning applied at the University of Alma-ata uses the WEB system with a composition of blended learning patterns, 75% for conventional learning and 25% for e-learning. The implementation of the blended learning theory in balancing learning capabilities includes two classifications. Learning capabilities include five aspects, namely verbal information, cognitive strategies, intellectual skills, attitudes and motor skills. The five capabilities are divided into two classifications of blended learning theory, namely verbal information and cognitive strategies included in the classification of e-learning, this is because it places more emphasis on the knowledge aspect. Then the three other aspects fall into the classification of conventional learning, this is because the conventional learning process is carried out directly and face-to-face between educators and students, educators become a central figure in learning and play a role not only in conveying science but as explained by Alghazali, educators are al -mudaris, al-mualim, al-muaddib and al-walid.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a classification of corporate education programs for executives and talent reserve based on the revealed characteristics of such programs. The study explores existing Russian and foreign research literature, is based on authors' experience in development and implementation of such programs in a corporate academy, a business-school and in corporate universities, and also analyzes the content of other executive education programs provided by leading Russian corporate education organizations. Analysis of executive education programs classifications in foreign literature revealed that none of them inсluded all types of programs delivered in Russian corporate education, so the authors propose an original classification based on the relationship between the target audience and the competencies and skills to be developed. The proposed classification is of practical interest for professionals in corporate education and company HR, as it assists them in defining the type of a program they develop in-house or order from other educational organizations, in accordance with their organizational goals and through developing clusters of competencies and skills of their top-management.

The assessment of knowledge and skills acquired by the student at each academic stage is crucial for every educational process. This paper proposes and tests an approach based on a structured assessment test for mathematical competencies in higher education and methods for statistical evaluation of the test. A case study is presented for the assessment of knowledge and skills for solving linear algebra and analytic geometry problems by first-year university students. The test includes three main parts—a multiple-choice test with four selectable answers, a solution of two problems with and without the use of specialized mathematical software, and a survey with four questions for each problem. The processing of data is performed mainly by the classification and regression tree (CART) method. Comparative analysis, cross-tables, and reliability statistics were also used. Regression tree models are built to assess the achievements of students and classification tree models for competency assessment on a three-categorical scale. The influence of 31 variables and groups of them on the assessment of achievements and grading of competencies is determined. Regression models show over 94% fit with data and classification ones—up to 92% correct classifications. The models can be used to predict students’ grades and assess their mathematical competency.

An investigation was undertaken to assess the relationship between the disability classification levels of wheelchair basketball players, as used by the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA), and the skill proficiency levels of the athlete. The assessment tool consisted of seven components deemed necessary for proficiency in basketball; these items were the 20-m sprint, free-throw shooting, obstacle dribble, baskets per minute, rebounding, speed pass, and pass for accuracy. The data used for statistical analysis were based upon the results acquired from 91 subjects who were tested in 1983. These subjects represented 18 NWBA teams from 14 states and Canada. The results of the investigation indicate support for placing less of an emphasis on the disability levels of wheelchair basketball participants, and for the development of functional assessment tools to be used in judging performances of “handicapped” athletes.

This study aims to analyze the classification ability in animal biosystematics learning as the basis for making numerical taxonomies in biology education students. The method in this research consists of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Descriptive method is used for qualitative analysis and correlation method for quantitative analysis. The mixed methods strategy uses simultaneous triangulation because both qualitative and quantitative data are collected at the same time, then compared to identify convergence of differences or combinations of data. The number of students was 57 people who were divided into 11 groups. Ability classification is determined based on indicators that refer to science process skills. The classification ability indicator is made into six indicators, where each indicator is broken down into four sub indicators. The results of the analysis show that the classification abilities of the six indicators are: (1) recording each observation separately 89.04%, (2) looking for similarities and differences of 66.23%, (3) contrasting the features of 57.89%, (4) comparing of group characteristics 67.32%, (5) determining the basis for grouping 73.46%, and (6) connecting the results of observations 76.32%. The ability of individuals to make classifications in animal biosystematic learning reached 71.72%, while in groups it was 71.98%. Based on the results above, it can be concluded that the classification ability of participants in animal biosystematic learning is good with the medium category, this can support in making numerical taxonomy.

In organizing ESOL expository writing, students typically have difficulty with: 1) identifying and distinguishing the classifying criteria, sometimes mixing several categories at once; 2) identifying hierarchical categories in a superordinate/subordinate relation to each other; and 3) reclassifying the same content in different ways using different criteria or different hierarchies of categories. This paper relies on research in several areas-paradigmatic and syntagmatic responses in reading comprehension, formal schemata and reading comprehension, and Brunerian learning theory-to explore some classroom approaches to these difficulties. A set of guidelines for the practice of classification skills is proposed. In the following sections, several detailed examples are given of specific classroom pre-writing lessons, and how they may be analyzed in terms of these guidelines.

This article explores cross-country patterns in how conditions relating to family background, education, and the labor market are related to literacy and numeracy skills. It seeks to assess whether these patterns are in agreement with models of skills formation as identified in the political economy literature. The novelty of this article resides in a reexamination of the findings in the literature of skills formation and education and training system with new data on adults’ skills. This research uses a two-step approach: first it applies Shapley decomposition variance on adult skills and then each country scores are clustered to search for common pattern and regularities in skills formation. This leads us to single out common regularities among groups of countries in the way skills are structured and distributed. We find three main typologies and different subgroups within them that are compatible with the literature on skills formation models.

Civic engagement and service learning opportunities provide students with unique real-world experiences they are unable to acquire in a traditional in-class setting. Students develop a commitment to the community in which they live, exposure to other populations, leadership abilities, skills to work successfully within a team, and a chance to learn from failure. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has recognized the importance of such opportunities and has added the Community Engagement Classification to the restructured Carnegie Classifications of Institutions of Higher Education. The purpose of this paper is to provide a synthesis of the literature that addresses civic engagement and service learning opportunities and to describe a university class that was designed to provide undergraduate students with a capstone service learning experience promoting wellness for older adults in the community. Data that were collected to evaluate the success of the class are also described.

ABSTRACTBackground: At the Community and Primary Health Care Center in Bantul, the number of paramedics receiving Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) training is very limited and not evenly distributed. With the low number of IMCI trained officers, this affects the skill of the officers in conducting the IMCI. Fewer skills affect the handling of sick children including the recognition of general danger signs, classification, designing appropriate action, as well as providing treatment and counseling. Objective: This study aimed to know the effectiveness of IMCI Mini Training intervention to improve health workers’ skills in handling sick children with IMCI.Methods: This research was a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent pre-post control group design. The sample of this study was a group of health workers who implement IMCI in daily work at 20 Community and Primary Health Care Centers in Bantul. Data were collected by observing 20 health workers in the control group and 20 health workers in IMCI treatment group before and after receiving IMCI Mini Training. Data results were analyzed using univariate, bivariate and multivariate statistical tests. Results: Using t-test analysis the mean value of health worker’s pretest and posttest skill scores in implementing IMCI in control group showed no significant difference (p=0.857) while in the treatment group, the mean value of pretest and posttest score showed a significant difference (p=0.000). In the treatment group, the improvement of sign recognition skills was significant (p=0.000) compared with the classification (p=0.148), treatment (p=0.009), communication and counseling (p=0.005). Multivariate analysis of linear regression showed that IMCI Mini Training was significant in improving the skill of health workers (p=0.000) compared with variables: age (p=0.970), duty (p=0.425), IMCI training history (p=0.686), category of Community and Primary Health Care Center (p=0.409) and education (p= 0.474). IMCI Mini Training improved significantly the sign recognition skills (p=0.000), classification (p=0.001) as well as communication and counseling (p=0.011) but was not significant in treatment skill (p=0.093). IMCI Mini Training can be done in a shorter time and more interactive method by using ICATT.Conclusion: This study showed that IMCI Mini Training increased health workers’ skills in IMCI implementation with the advantages of shorter course time, lower cost, and more interactive methods. The IMCI skills were enhanced by the provision of IMCI Mini Training which includes skills in the recognition of common signs, classifications as well as providing appropriate communication and counseling.

In this paper a discussion is presented of the antecedents, the emergence, and the impact of Rasmussen's skill, rule, and knowledge based behavior classification. While level-based behavioral taxonomies have been used in the past, Rasmussen's use of the concept for describing human control of complex systems has had a widespread impact. It has aided interdisciplinary communication and has provided an organizing rubric for vast areas of research.

Sedentary behavior (SC) in youth has been presented as a predictor of these young people becoming sedentary adults for the rest of their lives, potentially leading to the onset of chronic diseases. SD directly affects motor behavior, thus reducing the competence in motor skills related to the age group between 3 and 18 years old. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of the full-time school environment on gross motor development for six- and seven-year-old schoolchildren. The results reveal that 21.43% are classified as very poor, 73.81% of the evaluated students presented the poor classification, the classifications below average and average obtained only 2.38% of the school children, and it stands out that none of the evaluated students had the motor performance classified as above average, skilled or very skilled. Therefore, it is suggested that the time available for physical activity practice is not enough for the improvement of motor skills.

ATR-FTIR, FT-NIR and near-FT-Raman spectroscopy were used to characterize the molecular composition of human skinin vivoand pig ear skinin vitro. Due to different measurement depths the spectroscopic techniques reveal the characteristics of different layers of the skin. Tape stripping was used with the ATR-FTIR technique. Spectral differences concerning lipid content and conformation, protein secondary structure or content of water were found with respect to both gender and species (i.e. human versus pig ear) at all measured skin depths. New assignments of so far unassigned lipid and protein peaks in the FT-NIR and ATR-FTIR spectra of skin were made. PCA and PLS models were used to investigate the division of the recorded spectra into groups. With respect to classification of male and female subjects, the PLS discriminant analysis provided a classification accuracy of 64–93% based on the ATR-FTIR spectra and 83–89% based on the Raman spectra. With respect to classification of human skinin vivoand pig ear skinin vitro, the PLS discriminant analysis provided a classification accuracy of 75–100% based on the Raman spectra and 100% based on the ATR-FTIR spectra.

Objective: To validate the accuracy and reliability of Harikrishna Periwound Skin Classification (HPSC) for wound assessment. Method: Post-basic students (staff nurses and medical assistants) were given real life pictures showing the wound and periwound area. The students were asked to classify all pictures according to the HPSC at zero months (before attachment) and after two months of attachment. The images were the same but the answers were never given or discussed after the first test. Results: A total of 30 post-basic students participated in the study, assessing wound 30 images. The results showed that there was an increase of 25.42% in accuracy of wound assessment using the HSPC after two months of clinical attachment compared to pre-attachment. The reliability of the HPSC in wound assessment 79.87%. Conclusion: Health professionals have to be able to assess and classify wounds accurately to be able to manage them accordingly. Assessment and classifications of the periwound skin are important and need to be validated and integrated as a part of a full wound assessment. With experience and adequate training, health professionals are able to comprehensively assess wounds using the validated tool, to enable effective wound management and treatment, accelerating wound healing and improving the quality of life for patients.

<span lang="EN-US">Learners can study and update their knowledge continually due to the rapid growth of online content. The Medium blog is a well-known open platform that encourages authors who want to share their experiences to publish content on various topics in multiple languages. Meanwhile, readers can query interesting content by searching for a related topic. However, finding suitable content is still challenging for learners, especially information communication technology (ICT) content in Thai, and needs to be classified into beginner, intermediate, and advanced cognitive levels. Moreover, ICT blog content is usually a mix of Thai language and technical terms in English. To overcome the challenge of content classification, a deep neural network (DNN) classification model was constructed to classify the ICT content from the Medium blog into three levels based on cognition. We examined and compared the classification results with strong baseline models, including logistic regression, multinomial naïve bayes, support vector machine (SVM), and multilayer perceptron (MLP). The experimental results indicate that the proposed DNN model attained the highest accuracy (0.878), precision (0.882), recall (0.878), and F1-score (0.875). </span>

Implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERPs) is a complex and costly process that is usually accompanied with serious risks. Numerous research projects have been conducted to illuminate ERP Critical Success Factors (CSFs) so as to identify the main factors in enhancing success rate. Although project managers' skills of ERP system implementation projects are viewed as one of the most effective factors in the success of such projects, scant attention has been paid to them and their unique aspects have not been sufficiently discussed in the extant literature. Hence, this article aims at identifying the most relevant skills of ERP project managers and proposing a classification scheme. Based on the results of the robust Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), 16 identified skills were grouped into four distinct categories: “managerial,” “project management,” “human resource,” and “technical.” The results of this article can help scholars and managers to grasp an in-depth understanding of the skills required for project managers and the challenges they have to mitigate while implementing ERP projects.
