At a French Catholic Secondary School in Ottawa, Ontario Canada, a year long study was carried out to determine the academic and social development of high ability students in a congregated class. Students reported the importance of teachers as a source of interest and inspiration in educational outcomes. Teachers' attempts to help students gain a realistic self-image resulted in some lowering of self-esteem by some students, while questioning of their use of higher abilities helped some students reach a new level of wisdom and personal learning. The need for greater challenges to student higher level thinking skills, more use of mentors and enhanced sense of social responsibility among gifted students were indicated in the study.

“The Tao Te Ching” is the core representative work of Taoist thought, which has had a profound influence on Chinese culture. In the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Taoist thought, Confucianism, and Legalism jointly formed a great ideological trend of contention. Since Dong Zhongshu proposed the idea of “abolishing the hundred schools of thought and only respecting Confucianism” in the Han Dynasty, Confucianism has become the mainstream cultural ideology, and Taoist thought exists only as a supplementary tributary ideology. The great collision of Eastern and Western cultures brought about by the Opium War has caused widespread doubts about Chinese mainstream culture represented by Confucian culture. In the face of the fact that the West is ahead, Chinese people have fallen into unprecedented confusion about their own culture. In 2014, Chinese leaders proposed the concept of Chinese cultural self-confidence, and pointed out that the three sources of Chinese cultural self-confidence are excellent traditional Chinese culture, revolutionary culture, and advanced socialist culture. This article argues that the concept proposed by the Chinese government is not comprehensive for building Chinese cultural self-confidence. Revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture are the summary of China’s own special experience. Other countries do not have similar environments, and traditional culture is dominated by Confucianism. Confucianism cannot even be fully convinced within China. In the era of globalization, if China wants to gain some value recognition in the world to establish confidence, it must propose a doctrine with global value. I believe that the ideas and philosophies contained in the “Tao Te Ching” can effectively communicate between China and the world, help China gain worldwide recognition, and have great significance for enhancing Chinese cultural self-confidence.

The paper addresses the contexts of pedeutology, incidentally revealed in the literature, considering personal development as an important educational element preparing for the role of a teacher. Pedagogy is a praxeological science, linked to continuous development and inspiration search, the acquisition of new theoretical knowledge and methodological skills, supplemented with the development of interpersonal competences and improvement of self-knowledge. Hence, an important element of the academic training of future teachers is personal development classes. It is also necessary to develop a curriculum of courses with the widest possible range of optional workshop classes, which help students build their self-knowledge, recognise and discover their individual areas of self-fulfilment, and develop self-creation competences. The analyses of the narratives of pre-school education students and early childhood pedagogy of the University of Silesia in Katowice show the relevance and efficiency of self-improvement through participation in workshops based on dance and movement, and in other expressive activities, which are indeed an integral part of academic education.

Nature is the primary source of inspiration for human mind. Our world is full of interesting natural phenomena, organisms and systems that are essential for the existence of life on earth. Learning from nature is not a new concept. However, with the passage of time and the advancement of technology, the world has shifted to high tech strategies that are not sustainable in our natural context any more. Hence, scientists and designers are rethinking about sustainable solutions by taking inspiration from nature and with the help of advance technologies. Mathematics of self-similar shapes has existed for centuries. We have now realized that it is a natural phenomenon and is known as fractals. It is found everywhere, from trees to river networks, clouds to coral reefs, lighting to bird’s wings and vascular system of lungs to leaves. Fractals are never ending and infinitely complex patterns that are self-similar across different scales. Fractals create infinite complexity but in mathematics, it can be formulated thorough relatively simple equations. The idea is to study leaf morphology to understand the fractal pattern in leaf. Further, we want to explore the properties of leaf fractals so that we can use these arrangements in our architectural design.

Art Nouveau was a global movement that began in the early 1890s and combined two of the most powerful elements in the world: art and nature. Although these two have been associated from the beginning of time, Art Nouveau's significance and impact are far above any earlier attempts. Worldwide, artwork, sculpture, architecture, pottery, and furniture all exhibited this new style. Although there were many supporters and benefactors of Art Nouveau, only a select handful achieved the recognition and distinction of Antoni Gaudí. Sustainability and bio-education have been the hottest topics in the globe today. Hence, providing everyone with a search box for a solution. Let's take a look at the natural world around us, which is a never-ending source of lessons in effectiveness and a never-ending source of architectural inspiration. Moreover, what we actually need is learning, not just inspiration, which comes in second. As a result, and particularly for us as architects, it is within our power and duty to address sustainability in this plot — the architecture — with which we have been entrusted. The paper explores Antonio Gaudí’s philosophies and works, the effectiveness, the bio-learning, the self-sufficiency of nature, and other specific lessons that can be extracted from nature in order to be applied to architecture and to human life itself in order to help understand these inspirations from nature. The masterpieces by Gaudí reveal what made him special: his faultless exploitation of nature, extremely religiously inspired design, and unheard-of modernism. This combination not only helped Gaudí become famous around the world, but it also helped Art Nouveau become one of the most significant trends in art and architectural history.

The rapid development of information technology has promoted the growth of deep learning, artificial intelligence, and big data technology. Nowadays, the artistic form of traditional opera creation is accepted and respected by people—more and more people like the art form. However, the artistic creation of traditional opera needs inspiration. The essence of inspiration creation is to reconstruct its objective structure. The deep learning algorithm’s essence is to extract all of the attributes of sample self-learning input data and use them as inspiration for artistic production. First, this paper briefly introduces the deep learning and evolution strategy and uses these algorithms in opera art creation to construct 1 + λ. With the help of this evolutionary algorithm, an optimal solution is obtained through random evolution. The evolution strategy establishes the evolution function matrix. Starting from the situation of students learning opera art, this article examines the process of creating opera art using an in-depth learning and evolution technique. The results show that 96 percent of the students have contact with opera while watching an opera tour. During this, they were not interested in the performance of literary drama in traditional opera. However, it was noticed that they were deeply interested in martial arts, clown performances, and drama stage performances. Finally, the audience group of opera artistic creation is analyzed in the form of opera animation of “A Journey to the West: The Return of the Great Sage.” It signifies that the opera’s leading audience group is aged 25 to 29. However, they account for only 30 percent.

In flipped learning (FL), the pre-class section plays an important role and determines whether meaningful and deep-level learning can take place in the following in-class section. However, previous studies focus on in-class learning and research little on the pre-class section. In order to explore an interactive mode which can ensure the effect of pre-class learning, a production-oriented peer collaboration FL framework was proposed and applied to the Business English course. Mixed research methods including questionnaire and focus group interview were used to test the effectiveness of the framework and explore effective forms of interaction. Data analysis shows that the FL framework improved significantly social interaction self-efficacy, help-seeking, and self-evaluation in self-regulated learning, thus ensured quality pre-class learning. As to interaction, eight collaboration forms were found through thematic analysis, namely comparison, correction, reaching agreement, supervision, inspiration, complementation, negotiation, and emotional support. Among them, comparison is the most beneficial and frequently mentioned collaborative behavior. This research provides an empirical case for peer interaction based on online learning tasks. It helps enrich interactive research in FL and provides teaching reference for practitioner teachers by offering a feasible framework.

Gayatri and Yagya have a unique position and constitute the foundation of the Vedic Culture. Rishis gave concepts of Gayatri and Yagya to practice in daily life to refine animal instincts to divine personalities with the purpose of universal welfare. For this, one of the methods given by Rishis in Vedic time was Balivaishva Yagya. Vedic scriptures described elaborately the practice of it in daily life. The present study aimed to explore the meaning, philosophy, procedure, and utility of Balivaishva Yagya in the present time. ‘Balivaishva Dev’ Yagya is defined as a divine offering for the welfare of the universe. The five offerings of Balivaishva Yagya is represented as Panch Maha (Five Great) Yagya i.e. Brahma-Yagya, Dev-Yagya, Rishi-Yagya, Nar-Yagya, and Bhoot-Yagya. Respectively, they symbolized for 1) inspiration of the self-knowledge of Brahman, 2) progression from animal instincts to divine qualities, 3) having a compassionate life for the upliftment of the backward, 4) creation of environment and social order according to human dignity, 5) extension of intimacy to all living beings including even vegetation. Thus, practicing these five principles through Balivaishva Yagya in the family can help in obtaining harmony in the family by creating a spiritual environment. The five inspirations and messages are hidden in Balivaishva Yagya can create a spiritual environment in the family as well as to solve all the problems of the individual and the world – opening door to all-rounded progress by uprising divine culture in society.

The greatest quality of a person is self-reliance. A self-reliant person can become a support for himself. If a person is self-sufficient, then he definitely does not need the help of anyone else. Our country of India has been one of the ancient cultures of the world and seeing the culture, colour and style of this country, we can say that India is already quite self-sufficient. The true meaning of self-reliance is to develop oneself with ones own skills. Every person wants that he should become self-reliant, whether it is through his lifestyle or his manner. The inspiration for India to become self-reliant came from Mahatma Gandhis civil disobedience movement. Under this movement people stopped wearing foreign clothes and wore their own hand woven clothes. Now at present this campaign of India will fulfil that dream and India will become self-reliant. With the aim of making India self-reliant, the Prime Minister of the country, Shri Narendra Modi, had announced this campaign on 12 May 2020, in which he addressed the country and said that this is a good initiative to improve Indias economy. Under this campaign, most of the items will be manufactured in India in the coming few years. For this reason, the name of this campaign has been kept as self-reliant. Under this campaign, all those foreign dependencies are to be reduced, due to which most of Indias trade is dependent on other neighbouring countries. In this, without relying on outside items, it is involved in this campaign to prepare good quality products at our own level outside in our country itself.

Growing evidence suggests that the arts may be useful in health care and in the training of health care professionals. Four art genres – novels, films, paintings and music – are examined for their potential contribution to enhancing patient health and/or making better health care providers. Based on a narrative literature review, we examine the effects of passive (e.g. reading, watching, viewing and listening) and active (e.g. writing, producing, painting and performing) exposure to the four art genres, by both patients and health care providers. Overall, an emerging body of empirical evidence indicates positive effects on psychological and physiological outcome measures in patients and some benefits to medical training. Expressive writing/emotional disclosure, psychoneuroimmunology, Theory of Mind and the Common Sense Model of Self-Regulation are considered as possible theoretical frameworks to help incorporate art genres as sources of inspiration for the further development of health psychology research and clinical applications.

Abstract Globalization changes our world too quick and regions cannot keep up. Copying mechanisms affect crafted products and architecture and create specific signs for each region. Understanding that, we can follow cultural concepts and transform them to fit the current era and sustain local identity within communities. Compared with evolution, community attachment as part of social sustainability has the same self-regulated mechanisms. The adaptation process can be achieved in different ways, but only few are truly sustainable. To restore the sense of community and reconnect local people to their village at a deeper level, the participatory approach was tested. The process and tools well known from urban areas were applied in certain Slovak villages. As compared to participation in cities, in the rural environment, the process is more time-consuming. In theory, this should bring a result that lasts longer than that achieved by standard processes. Methods proposed by us will have several outcomes like networking, open communication and, if successful, can be an inspiration for other villages and activists to adopt the approach. This time-demanding activity can help to support local people and show them how to coordinate themselves in the decision-making process. The bottom-up approach increases self-esteem and by place-making, small public intervention can help with communication with local municipalities. In this process, the designer acts as a facilitator of a multidisciplinary innovation project and must use own creativity to handle many challenges.

This article examines the growing prominence accorded to the idea of ‘resilience’ as a regulatory ideal, locating it in the context of a ‘turn to character’ in contemporary culture which we see as part of a wider psychological turn within neoliberalism. Building from discussions of ‘resilience’ as a quality demanded and promoted by public policy in the context of austerity and worsening inequality, we argue that resilience has also emerged as a central term in popular culture in genres such as self-help literature, lifestyle magazines, and reality television, as well as in a burgeoning social media culture focussed on positive thinking, affirmations, and gratitude. It calls on people to be adaptable and positive, bouncing back from adversity and embracing a mind-set in which negative experiences can–and must–be reframed in upbeat terms. The article examines three case studies–women’s magazines, self-help books, and smartphone apps–to explore how resilience is constituted, how it operates, and how it materialises across different sites. We extend existing work by highlighting the classed and gendered dimensions of injunctions to resilience, pointing to the ways that middle-class women are hailed as emblematic ‘bounce-backable’ subjects. We explore how notions of elasticity, inspiration, and affirmation are deployed in ways that systematically outlaw critique or any need for social transformation while inciting a vast range of physical, social and, above all, psychological labours on the part of ‘resilient’ subjects.

Division of labor in self-organized groups is a problem of both theoretical significance and application value. Many application problems in the real world require efficient task allocation. We propose a model combining bio-inspiration and evolutionary game theory. This research model theoretically analyzes the problem of target search in unknown areas for multi-robot systems. If the robot’s operating area is underwater, the problem becomes more complicated due to its information sharing restrictions. Additionally, it drives strategy updates and calculates the fixed probability of relevant strategies, using evolutionary game theory and the commonly used Fermi function. Our study estimates the fixed probability under arbitrary selection intensity and the fixed probability and time under weak selection for the two-player game model. In the multi-player game, we get these results for weak selection, which is conducive to the coexistence of the two strategies. Moreover, the conducted simulations confirm our analysis. These results help to understand and design effective mechanisms in which self-organizing collective dynamics appears in the form of maximizing the benefits of multi-agent systems in the case of the asymmetric game.

Al-Qur'an therapy is a therapy using verses in the Al-Qur'an as a source of inspiration and media to help overcome spiritual, mental, physical and social problems. This includes reading, memorizing, understanding, living, and finding the relationship between the meaning of verses in the Koran and everyday problems and experiences. The discovery of meaning and wisdom allows students to feel emotional balance and improve their well-being, as well as being a medium for learning and understanding the traces of prophetic teachings in everyday life. An understanding of the traces of prophetic teachings was studied in the Prophetic Leadership Lecture at the Professional Psychology Study Program at the Masters Level at the Islamic University of Indonesia. One of the methods in this course is self-reflection on the four dimensions of prophetic leadership: Sidiq, Amanah, Tabligh, Fathanah. Based on self-reflection, several themes were found, namely finding new drugs, being grateful, feeling calm, and practicing knowledge. These findings enable students to become better individuals, to understand themselves and others, to function their minds and hearts through appreciating the values found in the Al-Qur'an.

The modern theory of metalyrics, as one of the manifestations of literary self-reflection, embraces a vast range of poetological metaphors, the metaphors of inspiration included. The German medievalist, F. Ohly, describes one of them as a written act of God, who created the world with the help of his reed pen. At the same time, the poet is portrayed not only as a writing instrument (Schreibrohr), but also as a flute. In medieval Persian poetry the theory of verse became the theme of this very verse, so that the technique and tasks of poetic activity were revealed through artistic form rather than with the use of special terms. Persian poets pay particular attention to such a metaphor of poetic writing as “writing / sounding reed”. In the final part of the article, the author analyzes texts by Goethe, and the Russian modernist poets, Mayakovsky, Khlebnikov, and Mandelstam as samples of metalyrics connected by the traditional medieval metaphor “reed pen / flute”.

Sports in South Africa have evolved into an arena for self-discovery, a place of self-revelation. Through sports, particularly athletics, heroes emerged who not only achieved for themselves and their communities, but also served as golden bulbs, flickering lights of hope, inspiration, and motivation to the community. Despite the heroic roles played by athletes, sporting memories of unique and gallant characters remain self-stored, exposed to all natural disasters such as loss, rapid deterioration, inaccessibility, thus turning into golden bulbs covered in a black cloth. This qualitative study adopted oral testimony triangulated with content analysis to explore the memories of undocumented athletics heroes in South Africa. Snowball sampling was adopted to help locate historically excluded athletics heroes and sheroes. The study revealed that athletes' houses have been transformed into museums encompassing all of their running memories, displayed all over their living rooms, with only a few athletes overseeing forgotten historical memories of most legendary runners and, in some cases, without specialised handling, compounded by the fact that these archival memories are only accessible to those fortunate enough to be close to these legendary runners. The study recommends that these memories be included in the national archival system so that they can be accessed by the public, as a large portion of athletes' historical memories are unaccounted for and thus inaccessible.

Educational activity represents a "sine qua non" condition of the whole process of human being's development. Creating the conditions for a conscious learning means continuous research and a continuous seek of new methods, co-operation and self-evaluation. The monitoring of teaching-learning activities, the authentic integration of teaching materials, the achievement of tasks and the delimitation of responsibilities, the interests and the problems encountered during the teaching process require a review, a re-evaluation, and re-adaptation of the educational process. Redefining content and context, motivation, and postmodern teaching-learning methods represent the target of the basic concepts of success. Desuggestion can lead to stimulation, thus inspiration arises. Desuggestive-suggestive communicative psychotherapy is associated with competence achieved through the perceptions, interests, motivation, and intellectual student’s activities. This mixt, eclectical technique, becomes a pleasant experience for each of us. Different kinds of barriers can demotivate students, but with the help of an emotional and friendly atmosphere we can overcome all these obstacles. Conservatism, as a cultural trend, was accompanied by the process of modernizations. Its basic feature is that it attempts to critique the overextension of instrumental rationality in modernization and the resulting social problems such as human alienation and moral loss. Its humanist tendencies and reflections on the modernization movement have their own unique cultural value. As a kind of critical and constructive thinking, Ku Hongming’s cultural conservatism can participate in historical dialogue. In the new era, how should we view modernization and Chinese culture, how to maintain our national identity in the midst of the cultural storm of globalization, how to correctly treat Chinese traditional culture in the construction of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics, and how to promote the formation of cultural self-confidence, Ku Hongming’s cultural perspectives have somehow given us deep thought and inspiration to some extent. This article aims to explain the values of historical consciousness and national character education as a basis for shaping social behavior to defend the nation's ideology. This research is a literature study. Pancasila ideology is an inspiration of the character and personality for the Indonesians. Nevertheless, Indonesian people are starting that ideology. If this is allowed to drag on, it will threaten the loss of the ideology of the nation. Enhancing historical consciousness values and national character education for all could help to overcome this problem.Historical consciousness consist of sense of awareness, self-knowledge about what has happened to one selves and the nation that makes humans want to self-reflect and imitate, and implement the values contained in the Pancasila ideology, namely being able and willing to have good social behavior. Meanwhile, national character education is a reflection of the Pancasila ideology. So, it is very important to provide national character education from an early age so that it is accustomed and easy to behave according to Pancasila values, namely being willing and able to have good social behavior. The values of historical consciousness and national character education have been deeply embedded in a nation indirectly reflect the strength of the Pancasila ideology. Thus, maintaining the nation's ideology can be done by forming good social behavior which is instilled through historical consciousness values and national character education

Status is an important circumstance for People’s subjective “well-being, self-esteem, and mental and physical health”. The paper aimed to test how leader status stimulates the quality of employee job performance in the organization. We argue that in spite of the benefits of having low-status distance who be faced with a comparable loss of status individuals experience more “self-threat” and hence status is threatened tend to engage in disruptive behavior to deliberately inflicts others through actions such as disapproving and acting unkindly. consequently, when the leader -Team member relationship is worse less perception of leader provided less performance of team members and relatively more perception offered to better performance of employees. We investigated these assumptions involving 240 employees (N = 240). Our findings help to explain why leaders sometimes challenge others who present an immediate threat to their status. As such, we extend theorizing on the power distance, organizational bureaucracy, and leader-member exchange. Results from survey study show a curvilinear relationship between status distance and team member job performance, these detectings offer an empirical basis and theoretical inspiration to consider status distance as a critical variable in the possessions of status differences on interpersonal dynamics. Importantly, this work also offers an applicable and timely viewpoint for managers debating the cost and benefits of various hierarchical alignment in organizations.

In a period of uncertainty about economic development, it is particularly important to maintain corporate sustainable growth in order to deal with the risk management challenge of sustainability. Private benefits of control in corporate governance play a crucial role in ensuring corporate financial sustainability to face the risk. The existing literature about private benefits of control mainly focuses on the assumption of absolute control by the ultimate controller, ignoring the influence of subsidiaries. This paper constructs a model of private benefits, based on a framework of the interaction of ultimate controllers and subsidiaries, and investigates how subsidiaries influence the ultimate controller’s expropriation. The model has proposed that: Subsidiary’s self-interest demand can prevent the ultimate controller’s private benefits; the autonomy owned by the subsidiary can be used to allocate resources, inhibiting the private benefits of control to some extent. Further research has found that when the proportion of funds that can be arranged by the subsidiary’s autonomy can meet the proportion of funds required for the subsidiary’s self-interest demand, as the subsidiary’s self-interest demand increases, the ultimate controller’s expropriation is reduced. This paper reveals the internal mechanism that private benefits of control are jointly determined by the ultimate controller and the subsidiary, expands the research on the decision mechanism of private benefits and provides new ideas for understanding the expropriation of the ultimate controller. Additionally, the solution to this problem can provide help and inspiration for risk management challenges for the sustainability of the corporate, as well as provide reference significance for economic sustainability.

Equisetum plants (horsetails) reproduce by producing tiny spherical spores that are typically 50 µm in diameter. The spores have four elaters, which are flexible ribbon-like appendages that are initially wrapped around the main spore body and that deploy upon drying or fold back in humid air. If elaters are believed to help dispersal, the exact mechanism for spore motion remains unclear in the literature. In this manuscript, we present observations of the ‘walks’ and ‘jumps’ of Equisetum spores, which are novel types of spore locomotion mechanisms compared to the ones of other spores. Walks are driven by humidity cycles, each cycle inducing a small step in a random direction. The dispersal range from the walk is limited, but the walk provides key steps to either exit the sporangium or to reorient and refold. Jumps occur when the spores suddenly thrust themselves after being tightly folded. They result in a very efficient dispersal: even spores jumping from the ground can catch the wind again, whereas non-jumping spores stay on the ground. The understanding of these movements, which are solely driven by humidity variations, conveys biomimetic inspiration for a new class of self-propelled objects.

Traditional weapons, especially kris, have developed from their shape and character along with the times. In this final project, the writer makes a new keris, combining the pangolin motif on the kris with the chopping technique in the work. The Pangolin motif gives inspiration to the author, because it has a shape on the scales that is attractive and represents a symbol of self-protection. Pangolins are the only mammals that have scales to protect themselves from predators or predators in the wild. The pangolin motif is adapted to the design and will be applied to tosan aji's work in the form of a kris. The creation methods applied in the creation process are the exploration stage, the design stage, and the embodiment stage. Exploration includes observations, literature study and interviews. The design includes analysis and alternative sketches. The embodiment includes the application of the material that is in accordance with the selected sketch, which produces three kris, namely: Dhapur Trenggiling Sisik Waja, Dhapur Trenggiling Lingkaring Urip, Dhapur Manis Javanica. The creation of this final project rests on the application of the Pangolin motif to the kris using the tinatah technique. The Pangolin motif inspires the writer, because it has an interesting, unique character, and represents a symbol of self-protection. It is hoped that they will produce new kris creations without leaving the tradition that can build the meanings and help preserve works of art.

Much is told regarding the need for greater diversity in the biomedical research workforce in terms of race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status. However, there are few evidence-based models that are tested and can have significant effects in this regard. Thus, there is a need for development and evaluation of innovative models that may help train a more diverse biomedical research workforce. In this study, we provided the rationale, conceptual model, and preliminary evaluation of a program called “A Student-Centered Entrepreneurship Development (ASCEND)”. This training program was designed, implemented, and evaluated between 2017 and 2020 at Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The program’s conceptual model is based on four stages: Attraction and Inspiration, Ideation and Innovation, Research Implementation, and Career Growth. Results of the comparative survey between 50 students who participated in ASCEND and 86 non-member controls showed an increase in science identity, academic self-concept, science self-efficacy, and peer support. The only domain that did not show a larger increase in participants in our program compared to controls was social self-concept. In addition, a total of 59 students submitted 48 research concepts, and 16 undergraduate student projects were funded. Of participants in the Health Research Concepts Competition, 39 students graduated, and 13 were pursuing graduate programs in STEM fields at the time of evaluation. The number of research projects and trainees who started a graduate degree were also reported. The ASCEND training model fosters an entrepreneurial mindset among undergraduate students. Such a program might be effective in diversifying the biomedical research workforce. While this preliminary evaluation indicates the efficacy of the ASCEND model, there is a need for further long-term and multi-center evaluations with the trainees’ research productivity and receipt of independent funding as outcomes.

In this article, I study in depth the first vita of the Franciscan Tertiary abbess Juana de la Cruz (Vida y fin de la bienaventurada virgen sancta Juana de la Cruz, written c. 1534), examining it as a chronicle that narrativizes the origins and reform of a specific religious community in the Castile of the Catholic Monarchs. I argue that Vida y fin constitutes an account that was collectively written inside the walls of the enclosure that can help us understand themes, motifs, and symbolic Franciscan elements that were essential for the self-definition of its original textual community. I first discuss the narrative of the convent’s foundation and then examine the penitential identity of the community, highlighting the inspiration that Juana’s hagiography takes from the infancy of Caterina da Siena, as described in the Legenda maior by Raimondo da Capua, and analyzing to what extent the represented penitential practices related to the imitatio Christi reflect a Franciscan Tertiary identity in opposition to a Dominican one. Finally, I address the passages in which the hagiographer(s) discuss(es) the sense of belonging to the Franciscan order rather than the Dominicans, and the mystical figure of Francesco d’Assisi as a founder, guide, and exemplar.

Cities are considered complex and open environments with multidimensional aspects including urban forms, urban imagery, and urban energy performance. So, a platform that supports the dialogue between the user and the machine is crucial in urban computational modeling (UCM). In this paper, we present a novel urban computational modeling framework, which integrates urban geometry and urban visual appearance aspects. The framework applies unsupervised machine learning, self-organizing map (SOM), and information retrieval techniques. We propose the instrument to help designers navigate among references from the built environment. The framework incorporates geometric and imagery aspects by encoding urban spatial and visual appearance characteristics with Isovist and semantic segmentation for integrated geometry and imagery features (IGIF). A ray SOM and a mask SOM are trained with the IGIF, using building footprints and street view images of Nanjing as a dataset. By interlinking the two SOMs, the program retrieves urban plots which have similar spatial traits or visual appearance, or both. The program provides urban designers with a navigatable explorer space with references from the built environment to inspire design ideas and learn from them. Our proposed framework helps architects and urban designers with both design inspiration and decision making by bringing human intelligence into UCM. Future research directions using and extending the framework are also discussed.

IntroductionThe prevalence of mental disorders in Higher Education Students (HES) is high and has shown a worrying growth. However, only a small percentage of HES in need of psychological support request it, due to the stigma related to mental illness, requesting informal help from friends and family. Training and increasing Mental Health Literacy (MHL) have been stated as appropriate strategies to reduce stigma and increase the demand for professional psychological support. However, with the increase in the demand for help, the difficulty of providing an adequate response from psychological support of HE services also increases. Therefore, procedures that develop socio-emotional skills in the HES and strategies that enhance the responsiveness of these services are necessary.ObjectivesTaking in consideration the literature review in this field, we develop a project to improve the mental health of HES. The project objectives’: a) the reduction of stigma related to mental disorders through the promotion of MHL in the academic community; b) the promotion of mental health and socio-emotional skills of HES; c) increasing detection and active search for professional mental health support, and d) the implementation of psychological intervention based on a stepped care model that provides an adequate response to most of the students’ mental health needs, according to individual needs.MethodsThe project proposes to perform the following methods: a) training in mental health open to the academic community, which will aim to train volunteers to be Gatekeepers, in order to promote awareness, detection and referral of students in need of professional psychological support; b) implementation of a Student Observatory, with tracking of psychopathological symptoms, supported on the Web; c) implementation of a psychological intervention program based on a stepped care model, which will include the following progressive phases by severity: 1) digital self-help manual; 2) web-based self-help groups; 3) psychological intervention groups supported by the Web; 4) face-to-face intervention groups and 5) individual psychological intervention.Students will be assessed before and after each step of care, with the following psychological instruments: Mental Health Inventory (MHI); Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7).ResultsThe implementation of the presented methods expect to achieve improvements on HES’ mental health, namely improvement of MHI, reduction of PHQ-9 and GAD-7 after each step of the psychological care.ConclusionsThe project presented encloses evidence-based interventions, with inspiration on psychoeducation and cognitive behavioral approaches, and it is expected to contribute to the improvement of mental health of HES. The results will be collected and disseminated. We encourage other researcher and clinicians to perform studies about the mental health of HES.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared

Background Patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) face several challenges in accessing clinical tools to help them monitor, understand, and make meaningful decisions about their disease course. The University of California San Francisco MS BioScreen is a web-based precision medicine tool initially designed to be clinician facing. We aimed to design a second, openly available tool, Open MS BioScreen, that would be accessible, understandable, and actionable by people with MS. Objective This study aimed to describe the human-centered design and development approach (inspiration, ideation, and implementation) for creating the Open MS BioScreen platform. Methods We planned an iterative and cyclical development process that included stakeholder engagement and iterative feedback from users. Stakeholders included patients with MS along with their caregivers and family members, MS experts, generalist clinicians, industry representatives, and advocacy experts. Users consisted of anyone who wants to track MS measurements over time and access openly available tools for people with MS. Phase I (inspiration) consisted of empathizing with users and defining the problem. We sought to understand the main challenges faced by patients and clinicians and what they would want to see in a web-based app. In phase II (ideation), our multidisciplinary team discussed approaches to capture, display, and make sense of user data. Then, we prototyped a series of mock-ups to solicit feedback from clinicians and people with MS. In phase III (implementation), we incorporated all concepts to test and iterate a minimally viable product. We then gathered feedback through an agile development process. The design and development were cyclical—many times throughout the process, we went back to the drawing board. Results This human-centered approach generated an openly available, web-based app through which patients with MS, their clinicians, and their caregivers can access the site and create an account. Users can enter information about their MS (basic level as well as more advanced concepts), visualize their data longitudinally, access a series of algorithms designed to empower them to make decisions about their treatments, and enter data from wearable devices to encourage realistic goal setting about their ambulatory activity. Agile development will allow us to continue to incorporate precision medicine tools, as these are validated in the clinical research arena. Conclusions After engaging intended users into the iterative human-centered design of the Open MS BioScreen, we will now monitor the adaptation and dissemination of the tool as we expand its functionality and reach. The insights generated from this approach can be applied to the development of a number of self-tracking, self-management, and user engagement tools for patients with chronic conditions.

Person with Disabilities (PWD) is an individual that suffers a long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments, preventing one from full and effective participation in society when faced with challenges. The challenges and pressures as a disabled person are very high especially for the individual that was born normal. The relation of PWD with hardship and poverty is very close because of the inability to manage oneself, run a business or find a job to generate an income. The tenacity and strength to rise again by an individual who has faced the misfortune or difficulty shows the characteristics of a person who has a high resilience. The Resilience Model is applied in this study as a guideline to enhance the resilience among PWD’s entrepreneurs. The findings of this study focus on the external protective factors (social support, psychological intervention, public facility and source of inspiration) and the internal protective factors (religion, learning motivation, awareness of social support and self-identity) that influence the level of resilience among PWD’s entrepreneurs. Hence, it is believed that this study could help the PWD’s entrepreneurs to sustain their business while for the authorities like Department of Social Welfare (JKM) and Zakat Centre need to strengthen their role in order to realize the PWD-friendly ecosystem. A future empirical study would be able to strengthen the Resilience Model as suggested in this study.

In life, opportunities and challenges coexist, and success and failure are linked. In today's society, it is difficult to figure out the factors that affect people's success or failure; however, there is always a way to succeed and a reason to fail. In an environment where people aspire to success and seek to realize their self-worth, it is a long and arduous process to learn to overcome the causes of failure, uphold one's beliefs, and ultimately achieve success, and the American film The Pursuit of Happyness can bring inspiration accordingly. The film is based on a true incident, and the main character, Chris, is modeled after African-American investment expert Chris Gardner. In the film, despite the misfortunes of both his career and his family, Chris is able to create his own happiness through his struggle and enterprising spirit in the end. The success of Chris in the film can be attributed to several factors. Based on the analysis of the direction Chris chooses to struggle, his beliefs, willpower, love for his son, and attitude, this article explores the subjective factors that lead to his eventual career success. Through the analysis of the subjective reasons for Chris’s success, it will positively impact people’s lives and help them to shape positive values, so that even in adversity, people will still struggle and work hard to get their own achievements.

Abstract Although we usually treat writing and speaking about music as a secondary activity in relation to creation and performance, discourse about the latest compositional output is now gaining considerable independence. The need for creative artists to work together with institutions and with a whole network of mediators means that in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, verbal discourse has played even a key role, and the search for a nuanced and original language that might attract potential listeners to new repertoire is proving a serious challenge. For contemporary music, festivals remain the most important – and at times almost the only – forum enabling works to exist in the social awareness. Hence an important area in which discourse linked to contemporary music is shaped consists of festival books and composers’ comments on their works. The latter help composers to forge their own image, at the same time helping or hindering the creation of an additional plane of understanding with potential listeners. This text represents an attempt to distinguish the main thematic areas to appear in composers’ self-reflection on the pages of the programme books of the “Warsaw Autumn” International Festival of Contemporary Music from 1999 to 2016, when Tadeusz Wielecki was appointed director of the festival. We will find here remarks on inspiration, creative process and musical language, as well as technology, nature and modes of listening. Notions taken from physics, chemistry and biology also frequently enter descriptions of music, and art becomes a sort of commentary to modern science. Finally, a separate strand consists of notes in which composers not so much shed light on the techniques they use or build contexts for their works, but rather seek to create plays on words as an alternative to musical compositions. From a broader perspective, analysis of composers’ comments may help us to answer the question as to how such comments shape the plane of communication with potential listeners, what they tell us about discourse on the subject of new music, and the extent to which they expand the categories of its interpretation.

The article presents the problem of social support, especially its selected aspects (support for seniors in the family), in the seniors’ opinion – participants of the program of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy titled “Senior Support Corps” (including the involvement of volunteers providing help to people in need), implemented in the Chorzów commune in 2022. This problem became an inspiration to conduct qualitative research using a semi-structured interview questionnaire, in which 14 seniors took part. The aim was to assess selected aspects of support under the “Senior Support Corps” program. The main research problem was formulated as follows: What is the assessment of the support received by its participants under the discussed program implemented in the Chorzów commune? Research questions: What types of support are preferred among the surveyed elderly people and how do the respondents evaluate individual types of support under the “Senior Support Corps” program? How do respondents evaluate the work of volunteers under the “Senior Support Corps” program? How do respondents view the continuation of activities under the “Senior Support Corps” program in the coming years? The research shows that elderly people previously struggled with loneliness, a sense of alienation and a lack of interpersonal contacts. Thanks to the help and presence of volunteers, seniors could spend their time actively, talking, walking or integrating together. Providing seniors with support and assistance in everyday activities and facilitating access to basic health care was also important. The participation of the respondents in the program significantly increased their activity, regained their self-confidence and became open to other people. Seniors assessed the services provided by volunteers very highly and unanimously stated that the program should be continued in the coming years as it prevents social isolation and promotes the idea of active aging.

In the emerging era of technology, the architectural world is taking inspiration from nature for solutions to its problems, which involve the study of natural design systems and various processes. This research investigation, carried out in the fourth year architecture design studio, aims to investigate bio-mimicry as a development process, involving it for architectural design. It also attempts to study innovation by integrating the digital tools like Rhino, Grasshopper, Ladybug and Para Cloud Gem. A new understanding of solving design issues with the help of natural processes and phenomena is the basic aim. Natural systems offer design strategies to improve design thinking due to the availability of extensive repertoire; which makes incorporating multi-functional and self-organized biomimetic principles into the design process a requirement. This discusses an undergraduate design studio titled "Digital Design through Bio-mimicry" which was taught by the author in an architectural degree program at the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Department of Architecture in Spring 2018. Following the exploration of individual research topics, the findings were implemented into design solutions. It has been a critical challenge for the author to increase the skill of students about biomimetic thinking, making them learn about how to handle digital tool’s performance issues, as well as making them work on the development of interesting form generation. The challenges encountered in the teaching process and future lines of the work are discussed in this paper. Keywords: Biomimetic processes, Architectural education, Digital Techniques, Vertical Landscape, Computer-Aided Architectural Design
