The authors of this article consider the problem of correlation of banking and tax secrets. The question raised is relevant, as the exact and concretized concepts of banking and tax secrets have not yet been fixed. However, this paper presents regulations that contain the concepts of banking and tax secrets, but it is also noted that they can be traced conflicts, as the fixed norms are different in scope and content, which causes problems with determining the responsibility of subjects of banking and tax secrets for their disclosure. If we talk about the relationship of these secrets, it should be noted that the priority has a tax secret, since credit institutions can be sanctioned for failure to provide the necessary information for the tax authorities. The authors also note that banking and tax secrecy play an important role in protecting the rights and freedoms of citizens protected by the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Based on this, it is concluded that banking and tax secrets belong to professional and official secrets respectively, that is, they will relate to information with limited access. Based on the special legal regime of these secrets, the authors directly affect the types of responsibility for their disclosure. Such liability includes: civil law, within the framework of labor legislation, administrative and criminal. Each responsibility has its own characteristics and problems, so the authors consider the problems of each of them. At the end of their work, the authors come to the conclusion about how necessary and important these two institutions are.

Abstract From his first Freudian studies, but especially in S. Freud’s correspondence with W. Fliess, the term “secret” (geheim, geheimnis) appears frequently, hence its weight and significance in psychic life, and implicitly as a form of intimacy and of confidentiality shared in the analytical relationship. The need and ability to keep a secret, but also the ability to confess, to share a secret, are mainly related to a certain elaboration of the sexual register, pre-oedipal and oedipal, of the elaboration of the traumatic, of the affects of shame, humiliation, guilt, as well as their impact on the psychic life of the subject, how they marked the subject’s existence and relationships. Another essential dimension is the inter- and transgenerational transmission of family “secrets” – often violent, incestuous experiences, such as severe diseases, genetic abnormalities, murders, suicides – transmitted over two, three or more generations, unconsciously. This work aims to reveal the secret’s dimension of life in clinical practice, as well as the deadly dimension of secrets and their vicissitudes in transfer-counter transference.

Having secrets on the mind is associated with lower well-being, and a common view of secrets is that people work to suppress and avoid them—but might people actually want to think about their secrets? Four studies examining more than 11,000 real-world secrets found that the answer depends on the importance of the secret: People generally seek to engage with thoughts of significant secrets and seek to suppress thoughts of trivial secrets. Inconsistent with an ironic process account, adopting the strategy to suppress thoughts of a secret was not related to a tendency to think about the secret. Instead, adopting the strategy to engage with thoughts of a secret was related the tendency to think about the secret. Moreover, the temporal focus of one’s thoughts moderated the relationship between mind-wandering to the secret and well-being, with a focus on the past exacerbating a harmful link. These results suggest that people do not universally seek to suppress their secrets; they also seek to engage with them, although not always effectively.

Having secrets is incredibly common. However, secrecy has only recently started to receive more attention in research. What has largely been neglected are the consequences of secret-sharing for the relationship between sharer and receiver; a gap we aim to fill in this project. Previous research has shown that closeness can make secret-sharing more likely. Building on research from the self-disclosure and relationship literature, we experimentally investigate in three studies (N = 705) whether confiding a secret to somebody might in turn increase perceptions of closeness. In addition, we test whether the valence of the secrets moderates the hypothesized effect. While confiding negative secrets might signal a high level of trust and lead to a similar closeness as confiding positive secrets, they might also present a burden to the receiver and lead to a different pattern of closeness. To provide a holistic picture, we build on a variety of methods and investigate three perspectives: Study 1 focused on the receiver and showed that another person sharing secrets (vs. nonconfidential information) decreased the distance in the eyes of the receiver. Study 2 tested how an observer perceives the relationship between two people. Distance was judged to decrease when secrets (vs. nonconfidential information) were shared, however, this difference was not significant. Study 3 tested whether lay theories about sharing secrets predict behavior, and how sharing information may be used to change perceived distance on the receiver’s side. Participants preferred to share neutral compared to secret information and positive compared to negative secrets irrespective of the distance condition. Our results contribute to the understanding of how sharing secrets affects the way individuals think about each other, how close they feel to each other, and how they interact with each other.

Increasing bodies of evidence suggest that keeping secrets may be detrimental to well-being and adjustment, whereas confiding secrets may alleviate the detriments of secrecy and benefit well-being and adjustment. However, few studies have addressed the consequences of keeping and confiding secrets simultaneously, and even fewer have done so longitudinally. This article reports on a two-wave longitudinal survey study among 278 adolescents (aged 13—18 years) that examined the associations of keeping and confiding a specific secret with psychosocial adjustment. Results confirmed a hypothesized longitudinal contribution of keeping a secret all to oneself to psychosocial problems, including depressive mood, low self-concept clarity, low self-control, loneliness, and poor relationship quality. Furthermore, confiding versus continuing to keep a secret all to oneself was associated with decreased psychosocial problems after six months, whereas starting to keep a secret versus not doing so was associated with increased psychosocial problems. These results suggest that the keeping or confiding of secrets may affect adolescents' psychosocial well-being and adjustment.

Based on the analysis of the Law of Ukraine «On Intelligence» in general and its legal requirements for the new category of «intelligence secret» in particular through controversy with scientists who have already expressed their views in previous publications, the authors once again drew the attention of the scientific community to this crucial legal categories and outlined approaches to clarify its legal content, direction and completeness. The author’s own opinion on the content of the legal category «intelligence secret», its relationship with the state secret, proposals for determining possible ways to establish a legal regime for handling information related to intelligence secrets, as well as proposals for liability for its disclosure. Two significant differences between state and intelligence secrets have been identified. The first difference is in the different areas they cover. If many spheres are defined for state secrets (defense, economics, science and technology, foreign relations, state security and law enforcement), then for intelligence intelligence only one area is the performance of intelligence tasks of Ukraine and the implementation of functions. The second significant difference is the possible consequences if the information is disclosed. In the first definition, it is the possibility of harming the national security of Ukraine, and in the second – the possibility of damage to the functioning of intelligence. It is substantiated that in the Law of Ukraine «On Intelligence» the legislator clearly distinguishes between state and intelligence secrets, without even hinting at the possibility that the latter may contain some part of information that can be classified as a state secret. It is proved that intelligence is not identified with intelligence information. First, they relate to various organizational forms and areas of intelligence. Second, the intelligence obtained is a state secret, while the intelligence secret appears when the former is handled. Third, on the basis of intelligence obtained, the state leadership makes important political decisions in the interests of Ukraine’s national security and defense. On the other hand, intelligence secrecy is concerned solely with the protection of information whose disclosure may harm the functioning of intelligence and access to which is restricted within the intelligence secrecy regime. It is concluded that it is necessary in the future due to scientific developments, primarily fundamental, to determine the reasonable grounds and procedures for classifying information as intelligence, to develop and adopt a number of legislative and departmental regulations on access to such information, maximum secrecy, conditions and declassification procedures, the procedure for providing it to members of the intelligence community and, in certain circumstances, representatives of democratic control by the public and society, as well as establishing responsibility for its disclosure. Key words: national security, intelligence, intelligence activities, state secret, intelligence secret.

The article is devoted to the study of measures taken by the employer to prevent the disclosure of commercial secrets by the employee. Such measures should be characterized by efficiency, simplicity, manageability and be comprehensive. In particular, the procedure for implementing local acts at the enterprise is characterized, which contain an exhaustive list of information that constitutes a commercial secret and which are designed to maximally protect the employer from the “leakage” of information that is commercially valuable. Such acts include: Provisions on commercial secrecy, List of information constituting commercial secrets of the enterprise, Provisions on the permission system for access of enterprise employees and representatives of third-party organizations to information constituting commercial secrets of the enterprise, Instructions for the organization and management of document management at the enterprise, containing commercial secret. Also, the employer can demand from the employee a personal commitment not to disclose commercial secrets. It is necessary to observe the procedure for familiarizing the employee with the commercial secret and with the responsibility in case of its disclosure or use. The article draws attention to the possibility of concluding non-disclosure agreements (NDA) with employees. The main conditions that can be included in such types of contracts are defined, as well as the responsibility for their violation. It has been investigated that the labor legislation does not provide for any special procedure for holding the employee accountable for disclosing a commercial secret. Therefore, it is proposed to provide in the Labor Code of Ukraine the ground for termination of the employment contract “disclosure of the employer’s commercial secret, which became known to the employee in connection with the performance of his labor duties.” The fact of disclosure of a commercial secret should be established by an official investigation. The article also analyzes the legal practice of holding employees accountable for the disclosure of trade secrets and notes the problem of proving a cause-and-effect relationship between the employee’s actions and the damage caused to the employer.

The article defines the measures taken by the employer to protect information constituting a trade secret, the conditions for classifying information as a trade secret. The actions that an employer can take to reduce the internal threat from illegal disclosure of trade secrets are indicated. It is proposed to provide in the employ- ment contract with the head of the organization his obligation to ensure the confidentiality of the information constituting a trade secret, the owner of which is the organization and its counterparties, and responsibility for ensuring the confidentiality of this information. We believe that the condition of the employment contract on non-disclosure of legally protected secrets (state, official, professional or commercial) should be among the mandatory ones in the presence of such types of secrets in the organization and if the employee is admitted to the relevant information in accordance with the procedure established by law. It is also proposed to provide in the Labor Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan a condition on non-disclosure of information constituting a trade secret even after the termination of the employment relationship, as well as the employee's obligation to compensate the employer for damage in case of disclosure of this information. The necessity of developing a set of legal norms is justified, in which it is necessary to determine the limits of the agreements of the parties and the level of compensation for the employee. The author believes that the property interests of the owner of the rights to trade secrets must be protected within the framework of labor legislation, namely, to introduce elements of civil liability, and in the case of disclosure of trade secrets after termination of the employment contract – to bring the employee to civil liability for damages through the court.

Abstract Data from N = 111 centenarians (M = 100.88; SD = 1.48) residing in Oklahoma was used to examine patterns in the relationship between the God oriented vs. non-God oriented longevity secrets and subjective well-being. Observational Oriented Modeling (OOM) was then used to conduct an ordinal analysis using concatenated ordering to produce degree of fitness between data and underlying patterns in life satisfaction and purpose-in-life across three time points. OOM is a data analysis method used to evaluate fitness of proposed patterns to data called PCC. Results indicated that centenarians maintaining a God-oriented longevity secret fit a decreased pattern in life satisfaction (PCC = 25.00, c-value = .09); whereas centenarians not maintaining a God-oriented longevity secret fit the same pattern (PCC = 49.18, c-value = .06). Meanwhile, centenarians having a God-oriented longevity secret fit a decreased pattern of purpose-in-life (PCC = 71.43, c-value =.12); whereas centenarians having a non-God oriented longevity secret fit the same pattern (PCC = 53.45, c-value = .28). In comparison to centenarians who acknowledged something other than God as the secret to their longevity, those who cite God as the reason for longevity tend to proportionately maintain a more satisfying view of life, yet experience a deteriorating sense of purpose over time. Results indicate that longevity secrets reflect divergent patterns in subjective well-being among persons living beyond 100 years. This has implications relative to how geriatric practitioners design interventions, services, or programs to enhance quality-of-life for long-lived adults.

Resumo:
This thesis considers the influence of secret intelligence on UK chemical and biological warfare related foreign policy. Using the Butler Report, published in the wake of the 2003 Iraq War as a reference, a model of intelligence and foreign policy interaction will be constructed. This model will then be used as a baseline against which to compare the interaction of intelligence and foreign policy relating to chemical and / or biological weapons from three case studies; the Soviet Union, South Africa and Libya. Specifically, this thesis will consider how, in each of the three case studies: intelligence linked to foreign policy, what role intelligence had in the termination / exposure of those programmes, what factors might be seen to affect that relationship, and whether intelligence might be seen to be representative of state power. The thesis will argue that the 2003 Iraq War, as described by Butler, marked a paradigm shift in terms of the relationship between intelligence and foreign policy. In particular, it will be argued that the lead up to that war marks a transition in the function of intelligence from something that had always worked to gather information to inform foreign policy to hunting for information to directly support or justify a foreign policy decision that has already been taken. Each of the three case studies will also show the intelligence and foreign policy relationship is further influenced by other factors including personalities, organisational structures and cultures as well as the perceived importance of that case study as a political issue. The thesis will conclude by suggesting that the case studies examined provide several policy recommendations; that HUMINT is essential in counterproliferation efforts, that the development of technical specialists with UK intelligence agencies is vital to prevent future proliferation crises, and that pre-emptive war places such rigorous demands on the intelligence agencies it seems they are at present unable to respond quickly enough – this requires urgent action if UK foreign policy is to continue to purse counter-proliferation as a key objective.

The studies included in this dissertation investigated the experiences of individual romantic partners as secret keepers and couples as collective secret keepers. Study 1 investigated the topics of secrets kept by individual romantic partners and public perception of secret keeping in the context of romantic relationships via qualitative content analysis. The analysis of secret topics resulted in the following themes: (1) secrets about the Redditors’ relationship, (2) secrets about the Redditor, and (3) a discussion of secrecy. The analysis of public perception resulted in the following themes: (1) normalization, (2) advice, (3) comfort, (4) personal reactions, and (5) a request for more information. Study 2 investigated the experiences of collective secret keepers. Inductive analysis was used in the analysis of participants’ (n = 522) responses to questions investigating: (1) the topics of collective secrets, (2) the reasons for keeping or disclosing the secret, and (3) the reasons for disagreeing over the disclosure of the secret. Further analyses revealed a relationship between secret topic and the overall relational impact of collective secret keeping (F(27, 385) = 1.64, p < .05, 2 = .10); some topics were found to be more distancing than others. A relationship between relationship satisfaction and disagreement between spouses over the disclosure (F(1, 310) = 5.83, p < .05, η2 = .02) was also found; disagreement on the disclosure of a secret was found to result in lower relationship satisfaction. Study 2 also investigated the relationship between collective secret functions and relational outcomes via multilevel modeling. A relationship between secret functions and the following relational outcomes were found when the collective secret was kept: relational impact (χ2= 14.18, df = 1, p < .001), relational closeness (χ2= 14.18, df = 1, p < .001), and relationship satisfaction (χ2= 17.60, df = 1, p < .001). A relationship between secret functions and the relational impact was also found when the collective secret was disclosed (χ2= 3.12, df = 1, p < .10).

A significant focus is placed on positive outcomes for children in today’s society. However, mental health clinicians attest that poor attachments, during early childhood, are likely to have negative effects on a child’s long-term outcomes. By using the post-positivist paradigm, 10 mental health clinicians were interviewed and each provided their perspectives regarding the negative social skills and emotional regulations of young children, when parents fail to appropriately bond with their children, during their early years. Their ideas were formulated, connected, and structured to develop a theoretical statement. The resulting theory focused on the parent’s ability to develop and strengthen the parent/child relationship, through a range of interventions. Parent’s inability to form positive attachments were influenced by a variety of issues, such as, depression, drug and/or alcohol dependency, poverty, poor relationships with the child’s parent, mental illness, violence, etc. These factors resulted in poor social dynamics with the parent; thereby, hindering their bonding. Children with poor attachments tend to display poor socioemotional affects, such as, poor social, coping, and problem solving skills, tantrums, clingy, withdrawn, or aggressive behaviors, etc. These negative effects, often impacts the child throughout their developmental years.

Mehan, Arti. "The experiences of British Indian women in secret romantic relationships : an interpretative phenomenological analysis". Thesis, University of East London, 2017. http://roar.uel.ac.uk/7310/.

Texto completo da fonte
Resumo:
There is an immense amount of research, most of it quantitative, on the topics of romantic relationships, romantic secrecy, bicultural difficulties, acculturation, and issues for individuals who are in the first or second generation of immigration. However there is a paucity of published research on the personal experiences of bicultural, specifically British Indian, people in secret romantic relationships. This research attempts to address the gap by exploring these experiences to gain deep insights into issues for second-generation British Indian women who are in romantic relationships that they choose to keep secret from their first-generation parents. The hope is to help expand the knowledge base of counselling psychologists in this area, and to increase awareness both of the mental health of bicultural women and of the issues they might face. For this study, the qualitative approach of Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) was used to interview, and analyse the transcripts of, a homogenous sample of six British Indian women. They were born in the United Kingdom and raised by parents who had emigrated from other countries. They were aged 20 to 22 and, at the time of the interviews, were all in long-term relationships kept secret from their parents, except for one participant who had ended her secret romantic relationship. The following three superordinate themes and their subordinate themes emerged from the data: Biculturalism - A double life - The culture clash - The negotiation of personal values Dependent Decisions - The particular choice of a partner - Holding on to one’s virginity - Retaining the image of a good Indian girl Freedom - Experiencing the short-lived freedom to date - The costs of being in a secret romantic relationship - The right time to reveal the secret romantic relationship The research findings indicate that the experiences of British Indian women in secret romantic relationships are complex, and suggest limitations on the women’s autonomy as they make decisions that are dependent on other people’s happiness. Their psychological distress is a product of psychosocial and bicultural issues, inter-generational conflicts, intense pressure, and stressors that have an effect on their well-being and how they manage their relationships. The research suggests that bicultural clients may be attracted to therapy to aid them through any bicultural stress or potential familial conflicts they may experience. Counselling psychologists are well placed to work with this particular client group due to their understanding of the psychological issues surrounding the group, allowing practitioners to tailor their therapeutic interventions appropriately. Moreover the research findings could be used to encourage British Indian women to be more open about their feelings regarding their hardships by raising their awareness. Future research might include a follow-up study on how this sample of British Indian women experience their secret romantic relationship during the next few years. Furthermore a study following the experiences of British Indian men in secret romantic relationships could shed new light on this relatively hidden world. Additionally further research, in the light of this study, on the culture-clash that first-generation parents experience with their second-generation children may also be revealing. The research outcomes illustrate the importance of providing the support that bicultural women need, as their difficulties are not always articulated openly, making them less evident to healthcare professionals. It is hoped that this contribution to research in counselling psychology offers fresh understandings and might prompt an increased awareness of issues facing clients from this culture.

The existence of legal mechanisms for the protection of privacy under common law is irrefutable. Those that the patient can claim during the care relationship remain unclear. The specific nature of this relationship, and the physical and moral impairments to privacy that are consumed in it - look, touch, nudity and the exchange of private information - justify a special framework and specific protections, existing but repensable, for accompany the stakes posed by the evolution and the modification of the care relationship. The emergence of new actors in health, with their own aspirations, undoubtedly modifies the objective and consequences of this relationship. Health data, an underestimated component of privacy, in that it n° longer passes only from the patient to the healthcare professional - and vice versa - must be framed, both the economic and political stakes associated with it . The "value" of privacy must be refocused, at a time when consumption, instantaneous exchange of information and “publicy” seem to have taken precedence over it

HIV/AIDS infections disproportionately impact African Americans within the United States. In 2010, black Americans made up 12 percent of the United States population, yet accounted for 44 percent of new HIV/AIDS infections (Kaiser Family Foundation 2013). The majority of black women (85 percent) are infected with the virus through heterosexual contact, meaning it is critical examine their sexual lives in order to gain insight into this infection within this population (CDC 2011b). Through semi-structured interviews at a Tampa, Florida AIDS service organization, this study presents the experiences of sexuality and intimacy among HIV positive black women. Results demonstrate that HIV impacts much more than sexuality in the lives of these women, and that their sexual and romantic satisfaction, disclosure patterns and mechanisms for decreasing further transmission are influenced by emotional connections, feelings of closeness, love, and intimacy, and are often motivated by non-traditional messages about health.

Class B GPCRs are emerging target in drug research. Currently these receptors serve as drug targets for several drug discovery companies and more than 50 percent of the drugs in the market targets GPCRs. Secretin receptor is found to be expressed in various tissues. Secretin regulates many bodily functions from energy to water homeostasis through both central and peripheral system. Though it holds a history of 100 years, the major drawback is its structural insights. In evidence of its integrated role in physiology as a potential target, the lookout for a novel agonist and / or antagonist for secretin receptor is initiated. As this target is in the primary state of drug research, it is also necessary to develop the appropriate screening platforms. Due to the lack of experimental structure of secretin receptor-ligand, a 3D virtual homology model is developed using multiple template approach. Besides virtual docking, a non-radioactive FRET competitive binding assay is also developed and substantiated to enable the receptor-ligand interaction studies. Both peptide and non-peptide analogs were screened for virtual docking, in vitro binding and functional response. For the peptide analogs, the modifications were made either in the N or C terminal portion of the peptide based on the previous findings that C-terminal portion is involved in receptor binding followed by allosteric modifications and N-terminal portion is involved in activation. These peptide analogs exhibited binding affinity in the virtual model. Paradoxically it did not exhibit in vitro binding as predicted. Along with this, the agonistic and antagonistic functional responses of these peptide analogs were also found to be negative. SPECS natural product library of 500 non-peptide analogs were screened virtually against secretin receptor and 32 hits were identified. Of these hits glycyrrhizin’s functions were comparable to secretin was screened for receptor binding and functional response. These in vitro assays did not exert anything positive; however an IP-GTT on WT, 〖SCT〗^(-/- )and 〖SCTR〗^(-/-) mice with acute treatment of glycyrrhizin at 10 mg/kg and chronic treatment of 5 mg/kg exhibited an interesting profile with negligible effect on 〖SCT〗^(-/- )mice whereas in WT and 〖SCTR〗^(-/-) mice it displayed a better profile with improved glucose tolerance. The chronic study serum analysis on day 28 exhibited substantial reduction in blood glucose while significant increase in serum secretin and insulin levels. As glycyrrhizin promotes secretin secretion, its acute effect on blood pressure in WT mice was also analyzed at 10 mg/kg; remarkably exhibited a significant drop in blood pressure. In summary modifications in the peptide analogs lead to instability in the receptor-ligand binding complex in the in vitro system leading to loss of binding efficiency. In case of non-peptides, though glycyrrhizin could not exhibit in vitro response, its supplementary mechanism through secretin pathway of increased secretin release is confirmed using the WT, 〖SCT〗^(-/- )and 〖SCTR〗^(-/-) mice. The hypotensive effect with an acute treatment in WT is also revealed. Discovery of this new mechanism of an old drug could broaden the research for a new class of drug, “secretin sensitizers / promoters”.

AbstractThe British Empire has become a new trope in neo-Victorian studies, incorporating a postcolonial trans-national approach to the re-writing of the Victorian past. Kate Grenville’s novel The Secret River is set in Australia in the early nineteenth century when issues of transportation and colonisation coalesce with the fight for survival under precarious conditions. The Secret River is the story of the confrontation between colonisers and colonised people in terms of gender and vulnerability. This chapter analyses the role of Empire in the construction of a British identity associated with civilisation and that of the native population. Following Judith Butler’s theories, my discussion is organised around two main topics: Australian history and narratives of recollection, and gender identity and vulnerability both in white settlers and indigenous communities. My contention is that both sides became involved in a relationship of mutual vulnerability.

AbstractThis research project aims to investigate the symbolic and cultural meanings behind an underwear targeted to women in order to analyze the glamorous elements of a garment which is often presented in scenarios that allude to sexuality and transgression. The focus is on the underwear production of the last ten years, as the fashion world has lately been hit by discussions around the need to make fashion accessible for non-normative bodies. Now that fashion is called to play a role in terms of inclusivity on the symbolic as well as on the material level, the question behind this research is: what kind of relationship can be found between an inclusive underwear and glamour? The first part of this research will provide a complex definition of glamour, an ambiguous phenomenon that can either be conservative or subversive. The study will then proceed with an analysis on the relationship between glamour and underwear in the case of the two mainstream lingerie brands Victoria’s Secret and Calvin Klein. Finally, such relationship will be then investigated in the realm of a newborn inclusive lingerie brand named Chitè through an in situ ethnographic investigation.

Abstract: Despite the prominence of Ronchamp in the work of Le Corbusier we remain largely ignorant of the geometric approach the architect applied to determine the specific relationship of the building’s plan to its liturgical responsibilities. It is assumed that the Modulor was the principle proportional system used to determine the chapels plan. In this paper it is contented that the Modulor played a minor role in finding the principle geometric relationships, at least in plan. With reference to two formal explorations, the research presents two findings. Firstly, that in exploring primary relationships Le Corbusier was more likely to have made geometric reference to attributes of the extant site. A second part of this argument goes on to show that once the plan of Ronchamp was established it was used to provide geometric coordinates for other parts of the site development. Landscape, cavity, courtyard, skin, pergola are some of the elements of the Mediterranean abacus that architecture tries to transfigure into a single substance but also as a derivation of a great mother, the Mediterranean Sea. However, we can suppose that all these elements come from an idea that acts as a trait d'union, an intuition that made the domestic space of the Mare Nostrum the place of the myth of living: the innovative idea of horizon summarized as the ability of the gaze to observe outward. Gio Ponti, Bernard Rudofsky and Luigi Cosenza are the architects of the materialization of this idea where the horizon is not only found in the relationship with the landscape but is present within the domestic space. In this space full of symbolism and origin, three houses are a body to be vivisected and rediscovered. Casa per Positano... and other shores, Hotel San Michele in Capri, Casa a Procida become autoptic and utopian spaces from which to steal the secret of the Mediterranean Sea.

Oxygenated treatment (OT) is an excellent choice for supercritical (SC) and ultrasupercritical (USC) fossil units to alleviate flow accelerated corrosion (FAC). Unfortunately, many large utility boilers had suffered series bursts caused by exfoliation of duplex scale in steam path after adopting OT measures. It has been hopeful always about that OT should be independent of scale exfoliation, but many tube failures in fossil power plants go by contraries. Ecocide hypothesis which has been verified reveals the secret of the causal relationship between OT and exfoliation. Ecocide is the abbreviation of “Evaporating Consumption of Chromium Induced Disastrous Exfoliation” and that’s the essence of our hypothesis. We can explain the mechanism of exfoliation of duplex scale in oxygenated steam path with the help of ecocide hypothesis, and furthermore we can predict the risk of OT. Concerned with operating utility boilers which intend to apply OT, the longer the operating history, the greater the risk; the higher the concentration of oxygen in steam, the greater the risk; the higher the parameters of steam, the greater the risk. To avoid the risk of exfoliation, OT should be synchronously scheduled in commissioning.

In order to attenuate the pulsation of the hydraulic systems, the string hydraulic pulsation attenuator is proposed using the principle of mechanical vibration absorption. We present a new type of mechanical structure that can attenuate the pulsation as well as reduce the noise. Elastic strings and fluid can be seen as a forced vibratory system. Resonant cavities isolated by inner pipes of the string hydraulic pulsation attenuator and the damping orifices on inner pipes constitute the Helmholtz resonant structure. It’s a way to realize the effect of structural resonant and fluid resonant filtering. Based on the dynamic characteristics of the pipeline, the transfer matrix model of the string hydraulic pulsation attenuator is established. The attenuation performance of the string hydraulic pulsation attenuator is evaluated by insertion loss. In MATLAB software, we simulate the pulsating characteristics to analyze the relationship between the main structural parameters and the characteristics of pulsating pressure. The simulated theoretical results are compared and analyzed, which indicates that the string hydraulic pulsation attenuator is very effective for filtering in a very wide frequency range. Pulsation attenuating is good for improving the life of components and the working reliability. Noise reducing is good for people’s health at the working-site. Especially under some secret circumstances, controlling noise is a must.

My article examines the problem of the archival turn in scientific works and discourse that affects artistic practice, including the choreographic one. In recent years, we can find several attempts to reconstruct the performances of famous choreographers who worked in the 1920s and 1930s. Modern choreographers have recalled forgotten performances of the former era, but recalling these choreographic works, they want to give them a modern meaning. This attempt is similar to rewriting history. In this context of rewriting history, I want to emphasize the importance of bodily memory and bring the perspective of viewing the body as an archive. In my article, I pose questions about how to find traces of former works? How modern choreographers work with memory and with the body. The concept of the body as an archive and the experience of past generations associated with choreographic practice is at the center of my work. The body can hide the secret of trauma, the unconscious determination of behavior in bodily, physical play. The second problem raised in the article is about the relationship between the present and the past. Why do we need a turn in the past now? I consider Yanka Rudskaya’s biography and her approach to dance as an example. This article shows the role of feminine artistic practices in the space of choreography. Recent reflections concern the problem of transferring modern dance to modernity and its discovery.

When a child feels safe, he can take the risks necessary to be in relationships, to explore and to try new things. Simply put, feeling safe makes learning possible. Research has shown that children, who feel insecure, play and explore less and have more difficulty in making relationship with peers. By helping children feel safe, we prepare them to learn, not only for the present times, but also future. In fact, one research study found that children who had secure relationships in childhood, performed better by the age of seventeen on tests using critical thinking skills.

The diversity of emotional relationships has resulted in supplementing models of attachment with specific relationship ties that relate to individual domains of interpersonal relationships in human life. We focused on verifying the construct validity of the Attachment in the workplace questionnaire. The sample of our study consisted of 829 participants. The convenient selection was made online. The self-assessment Attachment in the Workplace Questionnaire consisted of 13 questions. Validation of dimensionality through EFA showed three factors: secure attachment to the leader (5 items), anxious attachment to the leader and to colleagues (4 items), and avoidant attachment to colleagues (4 items). The dimensions of the questionnaire showed values of internal consistency above 0.8. The three-factor model showed a good fit to the data. Secure attachment to the leader did not correlate with anxious attachment to colleagues and to the leader. Secure attachment to the leader was moderately significantly related to avoidant attachment to colleagues. Anxious and avoidant attachment dimensions were unrelated. Women scored higher in anxious attachment style and lower in avoidant and secure attachment styles. The results are specific to attachment in a work context where the objects of attachment are the supervisor and colleagues. In further research, we plan to verify the convergent validity of the questionnaire.

The article considers the right for privacy and secrecy as an opportunity to have a life sphere hidden from the government, society and other individuals. The study is based on a holistic approach including logical, hermeneutical and comparative methods. The historical process of the origin of publicness triggered the development of legal guarantees, personal freedom, and political involvement. This was accompanied by the occurrence of the sphere of privacy where an actor is protected from state and public interventions. Whereas the public sphere is associated with openness, transparency, total accessibility, the private sphere is connoted with darkness, opacity, and closedness. The need for privacy and secrecy is determined by the human vulnerability. One of the critical components of privacy is the right of an individual for control his personal information. To protect one’s own private sphere, one puts on a social mask when speaking in public. In an intimate relationship, unlike in a public one, he voluntarily waives protection by allowing those closest to him access to personal information. The restricted private sphere is sometimes a source of apprehension and a desire to penetrate other people’s secrets, both from the totalitarian state, which seeks to suppress and unify the individual, and from curious members of society. For the purpose of retaining the social world, a person in the course of socialisation learns to respect other’s privacy, behaving discreetly and tactfully. The right for privacy and secrecy is related with freedom, dignity, and the autonomy of personality.

This paper discusses the historical context and mythic framework of the Kakai religion. While some information regarding Kakai theological views and beliefs may be known to outsiders, many facets of their religious life, customs and traditions remain undisclosed. Much secrecy surrounds this religion, and non-believers are not encouraged to engage in or witness most Kakai rites. Geopolitical instability in the Kurdistan region also makes access difficult. Throughout this paper we will look at the relationship between Kakai beliefs and music (tanburo), and how the tanbur (a sacred lute) is not merely a musical instrument but is seen as a symbol of Kakai identity, with the music preserving language and legend.

Ustilago maydis is a fungal pathogen of maize. Some strains of U. maydis encode secreted polypeptide toxins capable of killing other susceptible strains of U. maydis. Resistance to the toxins is conferred by recessive nuclear genes. The toxins are encoded by genomic segments of resident double-strande RNA viruses. The best characterized toxin, KP6, is composed of two polypeptides, a and b, which are not covalently linked. It is encoded by P6M2 dsRNA, which has been cloned, sequenced and expressed in a variety of systems. In this study we have shown that the toxin acts on the membranes of sensitive cells and that both polypeptides are required for toxin activity. The toxin has been shown to function by creating new pores in the cell membrane and disrupting ion fluxes. The experiments performed on artificial phospholipid bilayers indicated that KP6 forms large voltage-independent, cation-selective channels. Experiments leading to the resolution of structure-function relationship of the toxin by in vitro analysis have been initiated. During the course of this research the collaboration also yielded X-ray diffracion data of the crystallized a polypeptide. The effect of the toxin on the pathogen has been shown to be receptor-mediated. A potential receptor protein, identified in membrane fractions of sensitive cells, was subjected to tryptic hydrolysis followed by amino-acid analysis. The peptides obtained were used to isolate a cDNA fragment by reverse PCR, which showed 30% sequence homology to the human HLA protein. Analysis of other toxins secreted by U. maydis, KP1 and KP4, have demonstrated that, unlike KP6, they are composed of a single polypeptide. Finally, KP6 has been expressed in transgenic tobacco plants, indicating that accurate processing by Kex2p-like activity occurs in plants as well. Using tobacco as a model system, we determined that active antifungal toxins can be synthesized and targeted to the outside of transgenic plant cells. If this methodology can be applied to other agronomically crop species, then U. maydis toxins may provide a novel means for biological control of pathogenic fungi.

PRCI research project, EC-4-6 Improving Corrosion ILI Sizing Models for Long Complex Corrosion Anomalies (Koduru 2018), performed by C-FER Technologies (1999) Inc. ("C-FER"), involved collecting in-ditch high-resolution laser scan records, identifying complex corrosion anomalies, and conducting a burst pressure assessment considering inline inspection (ILI) sizing errors and the effect of interaction rules. A methodology for classifying complex corrosion using high-resolution laser scans was developed in that project. In addition, a secure database was developed to store the anonymized high-resolution laser scan data collected during the project. The project described in this report expanded the database with more than 100 high-resolution laser scans and associated ILI data. Severity criteria based on the corrosion cluster attributes that represent the corrosion morphology were developed using the expanded dataset. Exploratory data analysis was conducted to identify the relationship between ILI sizing errors and corrosion cluster attributes. Sizing errors were defined as a function of cluster dimensions, and sizing correction models were developed to estimate the actual maximum depth and length from the ILI maximum depth and length. The correction models were validated against matched pairs of laser scan and ILI severe corrosion clusters. Applying sizing corrections to severe clusters is shown to reduce the error in the estimated burst pressure capacity.

The specific objectives of this BARD proposal were: Use a comparative genomics approach to identify T3Es in group I, II and III strains of A. citrulli. Determine the bacterial genes contributing to host preference. Develop mutant strains that can be used for biological control of BFB. Background to the topic: Bacterial fruit blotch (BFB) of cucurbits, caused by Acidovoraxcitrulli, is a devastating disease that affects watermelon (Citrulluslanatus) and melon (Cucumismelo) production worldwide, including both Israel and USA. Three major groups of A. citrullistrains have been classified based on their virulence on host plants, genetics and biochemical properties. The host selection could be one of the major factors that shape A. citrullivirulence. The differences in the repertoire of type III‐ secreted effectors (T3Es) among the three A. citrulligroups could play a major role in determining host preferential association. Currently, there are only 11 A. citrulliT3Es predicted by the annotation of the genome of the group II strain, AAC00‐1. We expect that new A. citrulliT3Es can be identified by a combination of bioinformatics and experimental approaches, which may help us to further define the relationship of T3Es and host preference of A. citrulli. Implications, both scientific and agricultural: Enriching the information on virulence and avirulence functions of T3Es will contribute to the understanding of basic aspects of A. citrulli‐cucurbit interactions. In the long term, it will contribute to the development of durable BFB resistance in commercial varieties. In the short term, identifying bacterial genes that contribute to virulence and host preference will allow the engineering of A. citrullimutants that can trigger SAR in a given host. If applied as seed treatments, these should significantly improve the effectiveness and efficacy of BFB management in melon and atermelon production.

Research methods (biographical, historical, comparative, axiological, statistical, discursive) develop the comprehensive disclosure of the article. As a result of scientific research, the origins of Ukrainocentrism in the personality of S. Efremov were clarified; his person as a public figure, journalist, publisher, literary critic is multifaceted; taking into account the specifics of the memoir genre and with the involvement of the historical context, the turning points in the destiny of the author of memoirs are interpreted, revealing cooperation with Western Ukrainian magazines and newspapers. The publications ‘Zoria’, ‘Narod’, ‘Pravda’, ‘Bukovyna’, ‘Dzvinok’, are secretly got into sub-Russian Ukraine, became for S. Efremov a spiritual basis in understanding the specifics of the national (Ukrainian) mass media, ideas of education in culture of Ukraine at the end of XIX century, its territorial integrity, and state independence. Memoirs of S. Efremov on cooperation with the iconic Galician journals ‘Notes of the Scientific Society after the name Shevchenko’ and ‘Literary-Scientific Bulletin’, testify to an important stage in the formation of the author’s worldview, the expansion of the genre boundaries of his journalism, active development as a literary critic. S. Yefremov collaborated most fruitfully and for a long time with the Literary-Scientific Bulletin, and he was impressed by the democratic position of this publication. The author’s comments reveal a long-running controversy over the publication of a review of the new edition of Kobzar and thematically related discussions around his other literary criticism, in which the talent of the demanding critic was forged. S. Efremov steadfastly defended the main principles of literary criticism: objectivity and freedom of author’s thought. The names of the allies of the Ukrainian idea L. Skochkovskyi, O. Lototskyi, O. Konyskyi, P. Zhytskyi, M. Hrushevskyi in S. Efremov’s memoirs unfold in multifaceted portrait descriptions and function as historical and cultural facts that document the pages of the author’s biography, record his activities in space and time. The results of the study give grounds to characterize S. Efremov as the first professional Ukrainian-speaking journalist.

Global Education Monitoring Report - Non-state actors in education: Who chooses? Who loses? UNESCO, dezembro de 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.54676/ytjt5864.

Non-state actors’ role extends beyond provision of schooling to interventions at various education levels and influence spheres. Alongside its review of progress towards SDG 4, including emerging evidence on the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact, the 2021/2 Global Education Monitoring Report urges governments to see all institutions, students and teachers as part of a single system. Standards, information, incentives and accountability should help governments protect, respect and fulfil the right to education of all, without turning their eyes away from privilege or exploitation. Publicly funded education does not have to be publicly provided but disparity in education processes, student outcomes and teacher working conditions must be addressed. Efficiency and innovation, rather than being commercial secrets, should be diffused and practised by all. To that end, transparency and integrity in the public education policy process need to be maintained to block vested interests. The report’s rallying call – Who chooses? Who loses? – invites policymakers to question relationships with non-state actors in terms of fundamental choices: between equity and freedom of choice; between encouraging initiative and setting standards; between groups of varying means and needs; between immediate commitments under SDG 4 and those to be progressively realized (e.g. post-secondary education); and between education and other social sectors. Supporting the fifth Global Education Monitoring Report are two online tools: PEER, a policy dialogue resource describing non-state activity and regulations in the world’s education systems; and VIEW, a new website consolidating sources and providing new completion rate estimates over time.

Principles of Community Monitoring: A Path for Companies and Investors to Strengthen Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence and Support Community Tenure in Land-based Sectors. Rights and Resources Initiative, maio de 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.53892/atou9714.

Resumo:
Companies and investors in land-based sectors have a responsibility to respect human rights and the legitimate tenure rights of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, and Afro-descendant Peoples (IPs, LCs, and ADPs). These responsibilities are evident in international frameworks, national laws, emerging regulation, industry best practices, and the social and sustainability policies and commitments made by progressive companies and investors. As a result, comprehensive human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) processes are required for companies and investors to proactively assess the potential impacts of their enterprises on collective rightsholders and establish measures to prevent, mitigate, and remedy potential harms tied to their business operations, supply chains, and investments. Secure tenure and the effective engagement of local rightsholders are critical to the success of HREDD, and community monitoring provides a pathway to building reciprocal and rights-based relationships that bridge the divide between communities and companies/investors. Community monitoring (CM) refers to a process in which IPs, LCs, and ADPs assess and collect data on business operations that may affect their lands, territories, resources, rights, cultures, and livelihoods. Communities utilize this data to inform and shape business practices, prevent/address negative human rights and environmental impacts, and hold companies and investors accountable to crucial laws and standards. Where partnerships are developed, CM can help companies and investors improve their compliance with these laws and standards, including their internal policies and commitments, as well as reduce operational and reputational risks. Most importantly, CM supports more direct, balanced, and rights-based partnerships between communities and companies/investors, which are required to continually respect the legitimate tenure rights and self-determination of IPs, LCs, and ADPs—rights that are intrinsically tied to achieving global climate and biodiversity goals and associated corporate sustainability agendas. In response to this burgeoning opportunity, this document shares emerging ideas, principles, and good practices to socialize the concept of CM among companies and investors in land-based sectors, as well as outline steps they can take to meaningfully engage with IPs, LCs, and ADPs to monitor and respond to the potential environmental and human rights impacts of their operations, supply chains, or investments.
