Texto completo da fonteWe're talking about a research based on the use of conversational parameters, for certain schizophrenics, during a research interview conducted in a clinical environment. 120 subjects, patients hospitalised in heamo-dialysis or psychiatric services of seven intitutions, were split in 3 groups. The fisrt one was composed of dialysed subjects, the second one of disorganised schizophrenics and the third one of paranoid schizophrenics. One third of the subjects of each group was interviewed face-to-face, the other by phone and the last ones by computer mail. Each interview included, in excess of a fixed order defining the theme of the discussion + life in hospital ;, 9 interventions of 3 kinds (question, revival, near-validation) spread throughout the dialogue and according to the bits of speech of the interviewed subject. There was 6 depending variables and these expressed breaches to fundamental principles which rule communication between speakers. The results show that this experimentation mechanism allowed to put in evidence a strategic planning of speech which differs for disorganised schizophrenics and paranoids schizophrenics. The disorganised ones are more disturbed by the environmental and contractual contexts of communication, whereas the paranoids are more disturbed by the contents of their thoughts. Regarding the dialysed subjects, which represent the standard, their congruence in the dialogue is sometimes altered by an emotional factor which is particular to them. But globally the strategic planning of speech is roughly the same for the dialysed subjects and the disorganised, except for the environmental and contractual condition of the face-to-face where the latter encounter some difficulties

Texto completo da fonteThe current thesis uses the event-related potentials (ERP) method to explore the semantic context processing in schizophrenia. In a series of experiments using a number of different lexical decision tasks, the study shows:- that anomalies in the context processing (and the N400 component of the ERPs) specifically affect schizophrenics with formal thought disorders and are correlated only with this clinical dimension;- that the N400 anomalies have the status of a state marker and vary with changes in the symptomatology;- that it is necessary to distinguish, when studying language disorders in schizophrenia, between predictive and integrative context processing strategies: whereas the anomaly affecting the integrative context processing strategies appears to be stable in these patients, the predictive strategies appear to be largely preserved. We discuss the methodological, theoretical and clinical implications of these results for the study of communication disorders in schizophrenia

Texto completo da fonteThe aim of this work was to assess the social motor behaviors in schizophrenia. In ourexperimental situations, we used the Motor-Affective-Social-Scale (Trémeau et al., 2008) toassess the social motor behaviors (spontaneous smiles and hand gestures and voluntary facialexpression) and the hand-held pendulum task (Schmidt & O’Brien, 1997) to assess theinterpersonal social motor coordination. In studies 1 & 2, we showed a social behaviorsreduction and interpersonal social motor coordination impairment in schizophrenia. In studies3 & 4, we showed that first degree-relatives of schizophrenia patients have a similarinterpersonal social motor impairment. These results suggested that interpersonal social motorcoordination could be a potential intermediate phenotype of schizophrenia. Finally, thesestudies 5 & 6 showed that the social motor behaviors, including interpersonal social motorcoordination, could be significantly promoted using pro-social priming effect. In conclusion, this dissertation allowed us to better understand the schizophrenia disorder, to demonstrate thenecessity of taking into account the motor dimensions in mental disorders with socialinteraction deficits, to suggest that intentional interpersonal coordination impairments mightbe a potential motor intermediate phenotype of schizophrenia and to propose a newrehabilitation protocol to improving the social functioning in schizophrenia

Texto completo da fonteThis thesis investigates the linguistic features that characterize communication in individuals with schizophrenia, with first episode of psychosis, at high risk for psychosis and with autism spectrum disorders. Schizophrenia, a complex and heterogeneous psychotic disorder, arises from interactions between genetic and environmental factors. Notably, there is a significant overlap between risk factors for schizophrenia and those for other neurodevelopmental disorders, particularly those on the autism spectrum. These conditions also share several clinical traits, including disorganized thought patterns, impaired social cognition, and communication deficits. Despite progress, further research is needed to understand the pathophysiology and longitudinal course of schizophrenia, with specific emphasis on: (i) improving the identification of early signs in individuals at ultra-high risk for psychosis, and (ii) refining the clinical phenotyping in schizophrenia. Communication difficulties, spanning multiple linguistic domains, are central to schizophrenia, and early, subtle linguistic atypicalities in high-risk for psycosis individuals may be predictive of clinical outcomes. Prosody, which refers to the intonation, rhythm, and stress of speech (as manifested through fundamental frequency, duration, and intensity), plays a crucial role in communication. However, it remains underexplored in both schizophrenia and high-risk for psychosis populations. Similarly, little is known about dyadic conversational management in these groups. The limited studies conducted on conversation analysis in schizophrenia have yielded inconclusive findings. In parallel, prosodic and turn-taking deficits have also been identified in autism, though the results are often inconsistent and incomplete. Our interdisciplinary study integrates experimental linguistics with clinical research to explore prosodic acoustic features and conversational patterns in schizophrenia, first episode of psychosis and high-risk for psychosis states, and autism spectrum disorders. Initially, we analyze prosodic and turn-taking cues in Italian-speaking individuals with and without schizophrenia, using an ecologically valid, semi-spontaneous speech task. The linguistic cues are objectively quantified via an automated processing pipeline. Expanding this analysis across diagnostic boundaries, we apply the same technique to French-speaking individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis, those at high risk for psychosis, autistic individuals, and healthy control participants. Furthermore, we examine the relationships between the extracted linguistic markers and psychopathology, employing both classical and fine-grained clinical assessment tools. Finally, we propose a theoretical framework linking language patterns, subtle motor developmental signs, and psychopathology in schizophrenia. This work contributes with novel insights into the acoustic profiles and interpersonal dialogical behaviors of individuals with schizophrenia, high-risk for psychosis states, and autism. Overall, this research advances our understanding of the complex clinical phenotypes of psychosis and autism spectrum disorders. It identifies potential linguistic markers for the prediction, early detection, and treatment of these conditions, paving the way for improved diagnostic and preventive strategies

Texto completo da fonteThis research main aim is to study reference and reference disturbance concepts, according to the dynamic and interlocutory aspects of the reference dialogical process. Starting from a critical review of the literature related to the theoretico-methodological approach of the reference process, our first study aim to examine the actual approach of this phenomena according to structural, actional, and representational aspects of verbal interaction. Our results lead us to the development of a new model, qualitatively more sensitive. Its heuristic potential is tested in additional works, henceforth aiming to study referential disturbance in verbal interaction accomplished with schizophrenics. Results obtained from two studies providing criterions giving us the possibility to characterize, in a dynamic way, the expression and emergence contexts of reference disturbance. In addition, within the massive modularity theory framework, our results lead us to build an interpretation of the cognitive processes which are implicated. Furthermore, results provided by a complementary study shows that reference disturbance can be considered as a relatively independent phenomena from symptomatological intensity. Emphasizing the interest of a dynamic approach of troubles, the contribution of our results is in relation with the objectives of the pragmatic approach in psychopathology, providing trails to the renewal of mental disorders classifications and also, to a clinic of cognitive efficiency
Riou, Marine. "The grammar of topic transition in American English conversation. Topic transition design and management in typical and atypical conversations (schizophrenia)". Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015USPCA115/document.
Texto completo da fonteThe research presented in this dissertation analyzes topic transition in American English interaction, focusing on audio recordings of spontaneous conversations between friends and relatives. The main object of inquiry is the interactional action of transitioning to a new discourse topic, as well as the different linguistic strategies that participants have at their disposal. Three main types of cues are investigated: questions, discourse markers, and pitch register. Each type of cue is analyzed for its individual contribution to topic transition design, as well as for the way it can combine with, supplement, or contradict other cues. Analyzing different types of cues – verbal and prosodic – creates a composite picture of the various ways in which the topic trajectory of a conversation shapes its grammar – including its prosody. This study uses a mixed-methods approach which draws on the qualitative-oriented theoretical frameworks of Conversation Analysis and Interactional Linguistics, combining them with quantitative methods used in Corpus Linguistics, such as systematic coding and statistics. This multi-domain account is completed by elaborating a comparison between typical and atypical interactions. Persons suffering from schizophrenia can experience difficulties in managing the topics of a conversation, and they can produce non-canonical transitions. Comparing their data with that of typical participants thus sheds light on some of the expectations, preferences and standard formats which can otherwise remain hidden when topic transition goes smoothly
