The smallest open case for classifying Steiner triple systems is order 21. A Steiner triple system of order 21, an STS\((21)\), can have subsystems of orders 7 and 9, and it is known that there are 12,661,527,336 isomorphism classes of STS\((21)\)s with sub-STS\((9)\)s. Here, the classification of STS\((21)\)s with subsystems is completed by settling the case of STS\((21)\)s with sub-STS\((7)\)s. There are 116,635,963,205,551 isomorphism classes of such systems. An estimation of the number of isomorphism classes of STS\((21)\)s is given.

Ciliary axonemes from Tetrahymena contain a second salt-extractable ATPase distinguishable from outer arm 21 S dynein by sedimentation velocity (congruent to 13 S), electrophoretic mobility and substrate specificity. As characterized by turbidimetric assay, gel electrophoresis in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulphate, ATPase activity and electron microscopy, the 13 S dynein ATPase rebinds to extracted doublet microtubules. Compared to structural-side (ATP-insensitive) 21 S dynein binding, which is moderately specific for the 24 nm outer row arm position, rebinding of 13 S dynein is highly specific but for the inner row arm position. However, 13 S dynein rebinds to the A subfibre with a spacing that coincides with the triplet spacing of the radial spokes (24–32-40 nm periods; 96 nm repeat). All of the major protein components present in the 13 S or 21 S fractions rebind to extracted doublets under conditions that both restore and activate dynein ATPase activity. Unlike active-side (ATP-sensitive) rebound 21 S dynein, rebound 13 S dynein is completely insensitive to dissociation by ATP-vanadate and does not independently decorate the B subfibre. The saturation profile for rebinding of 13 S dynein exhibits a lack of cooperativity between binding events (h = 1.0) similar to structural-side rebinding of 21 S dynein. At low 21 S/doublet stoichiometry there is no measureable competition between the 13 S and 21 S dyneins for binding sites on the A subfibre lattice, although at saturating concentrations of 21 S dynein, rebinding of 13 S dynein is blocked completely.

Compararam-se entre si vinte e quatro linhagens de triticale e o cultivar de trigo IAC-21, através de ensaios em diferentes localidades do Estado de São Paulo, nos anos de 1986 e 1987, analisando-se os seguintes parâmetros: rendimento de grãos, altura de plantas, ciclo em dias da emergência ao florescimento, porcentagem de plantas acamadas, peso de cem grãos e resistência à ferrugem-da-folha e às manchas-foliares em condições de campo. A linhagem de triticale Nutria 7272 foi a mais produtiva (3.098kg/ha), diferindo do 'IAC-21' (2.241 kg/ha) e das demais linhagens de triticale, com exceção da Merino"S" - JLO"S" (T-20 e 21), Nutria 440 e Juanillo 159, com 2.891, 2.870, 2.805 e 2.645kg/ha respectivamente. As linhagens de triticale exibiram maior resistência à ferrugem-da-folha com relação ao 'IAC-21'. A Panche 7287 mostrou-se moderadamente resistente às manchas-foliares e, as demais, suscetíveis. As linhagens M2A-KLA"S" x MA (T-6), Faro"S" e Panche 7287 apresentaram ciclo da emergência ao florescimento significativamente maior que o 'IAC-21', e M2A-CML 360 x M2A (T-2), Turk DWF-V 127 x 6TA 204/IA 146, M2A-CML x IA, TCEP 77138, BGL "S"-IGA x PND"S" e BCM"S"-Addax"S" exibiram plantas significativamente mais baixas. A Juanillo 159 apresentou o maior peso de cem grãos, diferindo do 'IAC-21' e das demais linhagens, com exceção da Nutria 7272 e Merino"S" - JLO"S" (T-21).

Grundtvig's lecture to the Danske Samfund on 21 September 1841]By Ulrik OvergaardThe contemporary school system is the topic of Grundtvig’s lecture to the Danske Samfund on 21 September 1841. Grundtvig emphasises in the first place the necessity of compulsory school attendance (introduced in Denmark in 1814). He argues, though, that poor schools are much worse than none and that the number of bad schools is disturbingly high. Grundtvig then gives the definition of a good school: In a fine school the teachers should be vivid and engaged people, and the teaching methods should encourage the children to learn how to live a useful, wise and enjoyable life. Unfortunately, the contemporary schools do not fulfil this goal. On the contrary, the methods are characterised by punishments and rote learning, i.e. the teaching is dead. The only exceptions are the few schools where the schoolmaster himself is a living human being who wants to talk with the pupils and respect their opinions.

The present study was conducted to identify impact of biotic stresses on pearl millet genotypes. It is one of the hardy crops adaptable to wide range of ecological conditions and water scarcity. Pearl millet crop is affected by number of diseases caused by fungus, bacteria, virus, nematodes, etc. The present investigation was carried out using 50 different genotypes with two replications. Observations on diseases viz Downey mildew (green ear head disease) and blast reaction (Leaf spot) were recorded. The genotypes S-21/05(1%) followed by S-21/06(1%), S-21/18 (1%), S-21/18 (1%), DHLB-27B, (2%), DHLB-36B (2%), S-21/13 (2%), S-21/15 (2%), S-21/07(2%), S-21/11 (2%), DHLB-37B(3%), S-21/04 (3%), S-21/08(3%), S-21/14 (4%), S-21/16 (4%), S-21/12 (5%), PBLN-2021-204 (5%) exhibited highest resistance to blast reaction. The genotype DHLB-31B (1%), followed by S-21/05 (1%), ICMB-9544 (1%), PBLN-2021-203 (1%), S-21/17 (2%), S-21/19 (2%), PBLN-2021-204 (2.38%), PBLN-2021-211 (2.38%), S-21/07 (2.54%), S-21/10 (2.54%), PBLN-2021-212 (4.39%) and S-21/20 (4.67%) were found highly resistant to Downey mildew incidence.

Objectives: Nationwide implementation of Tobacco 21 (raising the legal sales age for all tobacco products to 21) is occurring against the backdrop of an electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) epidemic among young people, which makes Tobacco 21 evaluation difficult. To address this issue, we examined young adult use of e-cigarettes separately from use of other tobacco products. Our objective was to determine whether use changed after Tobacco 21 implementation and whether those changes differed by product. Methods: In Columbus, Ohio, which began enforcing Tobacco 21 in 2017, we surveyed incoming first-year undergraduates at a large, public university in 2016 (Cohort 1; n = 529) and re-contacted them in 2018. We surveyed a new sample of incoming first-year students in 2018 (Cohort 2; n = 611). Survey items assessed tobacco use, sources for obtaining tobacco, and attitudes surrounding Tobacco 21. Results: Both cross-sectional (Cohort 1 vs Cohort 2) and prospective (pre–post Tobacco 21 in Cohort 1) analyses indicated a slight decline in most tobacco use from 2016 to 2018, but e-cigarette use more than doubled during the same period. Students enrolled throughout the transition to Tobacco 21 (Cohort 1) perceived little effect of Tobacco 21 on peer use. The largest proportions (35.3%-43.5%) of combustible tobacco were obtained outside Columbus; 61.8% of e-cigarette users reported obtaining e-cigarettes through borrowing. Conclusions: Tobacco 21 was associated with reductions in combustible and smokeless tobacco use, but its impact was not sufficient to curb the surge in e-cigarette use. Tobacco 21 should be contextualized as part of a broader network of tobacco control efforts, including additional youth-access regulations, that may be needed to address e-cigarette use among young people.
