What makes an image photorealistic and how to pinpoint and understand how our mind interprets different elements in an image conditions? It is proposed that the phrase "imperfect makes perfect" is the key for the photorealistic goal in today’s 3D. There is a review of all the elements for the creation of one perfect image, such as Global Illumination, Anti-Aliasing and also a basic review of photography, how a scene is set up, color temperature and the nature of the real light. To put different theories to a test, the common three dimensional software 3D Studio Max was used with the V-Ray renderer. On a field trip to IKEA communications, we were assigned a project of a room scene containing a kitchen, with a finished scene model. A kitchen was created and experimented to reach a result where there is no visible difference between a computer generated image and the photography. Our result was not what we had hoped for due to many problems with our scene. We ourselves see this as a first step toward a scientific explanation to photorealism and what makes something photorealistic.

Flertalet nutida medier innehåller datorgenererad tredimensionell grafik. Intresset och efterfrågan för denna typ av grafik, har gett upphov till utvecklandet av åtskilliga datorprogram. Programmen innehåller oftast en eller flera integrerade renderingsmotorer. Studien jämför renderingsmotorerna Mental Ray och V-Ray genom att diskutera deras skillnader i renderingstider, användarvänlighet och renderingskvalitet, vid simulering av realistiskt ljus. Det praktiska arbetet utfördes genom att rendera samma 3D-miljö med de två olika renderingsmotorerna. Detta i syfte att ge blivande studenter inom datorgrafik en överskådlig blick av dessa två renderingsmotorer.

The goal of this thesis is to evaluate the usability of hardware accelerated ray tracing in near-future rendering engines. Specifically, DirectX Ray Tracing API and Nvidia Turing architecture are being examined. Design and implementation of a hybrid rendering engine with support for hardware accelerated ray tracing is included and used in implementation of frequently used graphical effects -- hard and soft shadows, reflections, and Ambient Occlusion. The assessment is made in terms of difficulty of integration into a rendering engine, performance of the resulting system and suitability of implementation of chosen graphical effects. Performance parameters -- including number of rays cast per second, time to build acceleration structures and computation time on the GPU -- are tested and discussed.

This thesis deals with the method of distributed ray tracing focusing on optimalization of this method. The method uses simulation of some attributes of light by distributing rays of lights and it produces high quality and partly realistic images. The price for realitic effects is the high computational complexity of the method. The thesis analysis the theory connected with these aspects. A large part describes optimalizations of this method, i.e. searching for the nearest triangle intersection using kd-trees, quasi random sampling with faster convergence, the use of SSE instruction set and fast ray - triangle intersection. These optimalizations brought a noticable speed - up. The thesis includes description of implementation of these techniques. The implementation itself emphasises the practical usability including generating some advanced animations and universal description of objects.

The paper's objective is to analyze the work of the Revolutionary Union Organization (ROH) in the Czechoslovak economy of the 1980s. The basic thesis of the paper is the assumption that ROH bodies preferred the interests of the representatives of the Czechoslovak Communist Party to those of workers. The relationship is analyzed on the basis of the employment legislation of the time and the impact of the union organization in its drafting. The paper also examines the contribution of the union organization in the course of the revolutionary changes in Czechoslovak society in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The analysis is based on a critique of sources from that era and a comparison of the role of the ROH in the 1980s and the role of the unions during Prague Spring. On the basis of the objectives set for this paper, the conclusion is that the ROH did have an impact on the work lives of working people, but its leadership lacked funds and, above all, the willingness to effectively protect the interests of working people. Hence, until December 1989, the ROH remained an organization serving, above all, the interests of the Communist Party.

This master thesis deals with a number of international processes in terms of geoeconomics. The main goal of this work is to research the position of dollar, ruble and petroleum in geoeconomic processes. At first goes the analysis of the current condition of the United States dollar, the assessment of exposure level of the system to other countries to establish the real role of the U.S. Federal Reserve. Then goes the analysis of the current status of Russian ruble and the Central Bank of Russian Federation. A large part of the work is devoted to petroleum as a basic raw material at present and its relations to U.S. dollar. At the end is the assessment of the U.S. dollar prospects in the 21 century and possible solutions, which will probably help to eliminate the negative consequences in case of using dollar as the dominant financial system in the world.

"Le journal de voyage de sa majesté le roi de Siam Chulalongkorn à Java (1896) est riche de renseignements précis témoignant de l'intérêt du souverain pour Java à cette époque. Cette thèse se compose de deux grandes parties. La première est la traduction partielle du récit du roi, intitulé "itinéraire du voyage à Java (1896)". écrit jour après jour, il comporte 96 chapitres. Seuls 36 ont été traduits. Le choix repose sur la place accordée à la description des principales villes, sur les activités du roi dans les lieux les plus importants, sur les différents thèmes traités. La traduction essaie de conserver le rythme des phrases du roi. La deuxième partie est le commentaire de ce récit. Il traite de l'importance des contacts entre le Siam et les pays du Sud-est asiatique, entre les siamois et les populations de l'archipel. Il présente le roi, son oeuvre de réformes au Siam, sa politique visant au maintien de l'indépendance du pays à l'époque de l'expansion franco-anglaise (1867-1909). Il traite aussi de l'histoire du texte (publié en 1925) et de tous les renseignements recueillis sur le voyage dans les archives de Thailande. Il étudie la coexistence de la tradition et de la modernité dans la societé javanaise et dresse un bilan d'ensemble du voyage et de ses conséquences. "The diary of h. M. Chulalongkorn, king of siam (1896) is full of precise informations, as the sovereign was very interested in all about java at this time. The thesis consists of two main parts : the first one is the translation of a part of the diary of the king, entitled "itinerary of voyage to java" (1896). It has been written day after day and consists of 96 chapters. But only 36 has been translated. The choice has been guided by the importance of the description of the main cities, by the activities of the king in the most important places, and by the various themes. The translation tries to maintain the rhythm of the sentences of the king. The second part is the commentary of the diary. It concerns the contacts between siam and south east asiatic countries, between siamese people and archipelago people. It speaks of the king, his reforms in siam, his policy to maintain independance for his country, against expansionnists views of france and england. It also speaks of history of the diary (published in 1925) and of all informations about the voyage conserved in thai national archives. The aim of this work was to create a program to visualize voxel scenes in real time using ray tracing. It included the study of various methods of such a rendering with a focus on shadows. The solution was created using Unity engine and experimental packages Unity Jobs and Burst. The thesis presents multiple ray tracing passes and SVGF technique, that is used to turn a noisy input into full edge-preserving image. The final program is able to render hard shadows, soft shadows, and ambient occlusion at speed of fifty frames per second.

The thesis focuses on theoretical and empirical analysis of oil and natural gas flows in Eurasia and maps Ukraine's transit position in the regional oil and gas supply chain. The aim of the thesis is to objectively evaluate possibilities of Eurasian energy integration by enlargement of the European energy market further to the East and to prospect Ukraine's involvement into a new geopolitical energy alliance, driven by EU. This dissertation builds up on economical, geographical, historical and political premises of markets integration as well as system approach of energy alliances development. It argues that (i) energy integration on contrary to traditional economic stream can be explained by system approach and geopolitical stream of energy expansionism; (ii) EU infrustructural oil and gas projects imply deeper integration of EU member-states with involed non-members and (iii) Ukraine's oil and gas transit status within Eurasian region facilitates its growing involvement into EU energy intiatives guided by the European rules. The thesis is organized into three chapters. The first one is predominately theoretical and seeks to summarize current theoretical approaches towards integration and trends of energy markets in Eurasia. The second chapter introduces the role of oil and gas transport capacities and Ukraine's transit status in resolving disparities of Eurasian energy supply chain. The third chapter describes condition of Ukrainian oil and gas infrastructure and tackles issues for reformation of national oil and gas transit pipelines. Securing access to energy supplies has been a driving factor of global development since the industrial revolution. Increasing demand for oil and gas has undermined energy and economic security of world centers. In Eurasia Europe and Asia has been competing for fossil fuels originating from Russia, Middle East and Central Asia. Since recently Eurasian energy security problem is being solved by development of new supply routes. These infrastructural projects are initiated by oil and gas consumers, suppliers and transitors competing over control in the infrastructure. Such competition destabilises Eurasian relations, leads to energy "wars", political conflicts and increases supplies disruption risks. To secure stability of energy supply chain producers, transitors and consumers of oil and gas resources should integrate, closely cooperate and jointly invest into improving the existing supply routes and efficiency of fuels consumtion, production and transportation. Oil and gas should be traded for technologies and capital securing control in the infrustucture of mutual interests. Development of further bilateral and multilateral tools of joint interest would also help in resolving energy related contradictions of the participating parties. The leading role in driving energy integration in Eurasia belongs to the EU being the most mature and advanced integration grouping in Eurasia. EU realises TEN-e projects and from recently a common foreign energy policy aimed to strengthen external cooperation with oil and gas suppliers and transitors, including Ukraine. Since 1970s Ukraine has been an important oil and gas transitor for Russian and Central Asian oil and gas to Europe. Ukrainian pipelines intermediate 10 % of oil and 50 % of gas imports of Europe. To counterbalance Russian energy diplomacy over Ukraine, EU is supporting Ukraine's efforts in such energy alliances as INOGATE or GUAM. Ukraine's recent accession to the South Eastern-European Energy Community should improve stability of gas and oil supplies to Europe and facilitate reformation of national transit capacities.

Conflict in Libya was the most serious of a series of uprising at the beginning of the year 2011 in the Middle East and North Africa. Following the current situation of world production and consumption of oil, the work focuses on the reaction of oil markets to the conflict and estimates the future development of the oil industry. The aim is to analyze how much the Libyan Civil War influences the development of oil prices on world markets. The second main point of this work is to determine to what extent the current situation in the country could damage the Libyan economy. Much of the information comes from documents and statistics of the U. S. Energy Information Administration, the International Energy Agency and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

Greenery in towns and cities are an important part of our lives and influences us in many positive ways. In the Czech Republic, the establishment, restoration and maintenance of public green areas within the competence of municipalities. As with every other public service there arises a problem with the quantity and quality of its provision. This paper deals with the relationships that developed in 2011 between spending on public greenery and various parameters of the municipalities. These relations are implemented by means of two hypotheses. The first is based on economies of scale, and assumes that the larger the municipality, the smaller expenses should be provided for public green areas per inhabitant. The second hypothesis is based on the work of Carruthers and Úlfarsson (2008) and says that a higher the population density reduces the per capita expenditures of city govenments. The validity assessment of the hypotheses is done by use of the statistical method of regression analysis. This, however, did not confirm the validity of any of them. Thus there is no indirect relationship between the size of the municipality or population density and public expenditures on green areas per capita. The reason why there is no relationship lies primarily in the great freedom of decision-making of individual municipalities, as far as public green is concerned.

The purpose of this thesis is to discuss tourism support within the cohesion region Central Bohemia and to assess the realization of specific parts of the Priority axis 2 (Tourism) ROP NUTS II Central Bohemia global objectives in the period 2007-2013. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the relationship between regional development, regional policy and tourism is investigated. The empirical part includes the evaluation of particular tourism statistics in the Central Bohemia in connection with the PO 2 objectives fulfilment (increase in the number of visitors and the length of their stays). In addition, the development of certain indicators in selected pairs of municipalities is compared and the results of a survey, which has been conducted among the representatives of both beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries, are evaluated. The major methods used in the study are research into relevant sources, questionnaire survey, the evaluation of its result and analysis and synthesis of the acquired knowledge.

This work deals with economic impact of accidents caused by motorcyclists on public budgets in Czech Republic in 2008. The theoretical part discuss the determinants that may influence risky driving behavior of motorcyclist. Special attention is devoted to the endogenous variable -- the law on compulsory use of helmet. The practical section gives a presentation of some statistical data of motorcycle accidents on Czech roads during 2000 -- 2009. In analytical terms, focusing on 2008, are first examined the cost items of public budgets, which are divided into direct (health care, examination by the police, courts and sickness benefits) and indirect (loss of income from taxes, regulatory fees and loss of product). The second part consists of items of benefits, which are also divided into direct (fines, taxes on equipment and fuel) and indirect (saving the payment of pensions and health care costs). The main contribution of the thesis is the calculation of total costs and benefits of the accidents caused by motorcyclists in 2008, with the conclusion of an obvious negative effect on public budgets. The loss comes at a nominal value of almost CZK 1.2 billion.

L’historiographie considère que Philippe V a fait appel à des étrangers pour se substituer aux Espagnols, notamment dans l’armée et dans l’administration territoriale, en raison de la profonde méfiance qu’il entretient à l’égard des élites locales. Ce travail teste la validité de cette interprétation à partir du cas des officiers des corps flamands de la garde royale. Celle-ci, réformée dès 1701, permet à de nombreuses familles des Pays-Bas de s’implanter durablement en Espagne. De plus, la garde royale constitue le principal vivier des cadres de l’administration territoriale durant tout le XVIIIe siècle. Dès lors, à partir d’une analyse prosopographique, basée sur des sources administratives, notariales et privées, l’examen porte sur les dynamiques sociales et politiques qui se mettent en place autour de l’institution afin de comprendre la mobilité professionnelle des élites militaires au sein de l’Etat bourbonien. Cette étude met en question la pertinence d’un clivage qui opposerait les « étrangers » aux « Espagnols ». Elle insiste au contraire sur l’importance de la relation de fidélité à Philippe V construite par quelques familles durant le conflit successoral. Le roi récompense ces groupes familiaux en leur offrant une assise institutionnelle – la Maison militaire – qui leur permet de monopoliser les premiers emplois de l’armée et de l’administration territoriale. La mémoire du « philippisme » va permettre à ces familles de se maintenir en place longtemps après la mort de Philippe V et de s’opposer à toute réforme des corps privilégiés. Lorsque Charles IV, grâce à Godoy, parvient à les contrôler, l’oligarchie militaire se soulève à Aranjuez en 1808It has usually been considered that Philipp V used foreigners to reimplace Spanish nobles, notably in the army and in territorial administration, because of his profound mistrust towards local elites. This research is an attempt to appraise the validity of this interpretation, studying Flemish units’ officers of the royal guard. Reformed by 1701, this institution gave the opportunity to numerous Netherlands families to establish themselves permanently in Spain. Furthermore, all along the 18th century, a majority of territorial administration’s commanders came from the royal guard. Since then, the prosopographical analysis, based on private, administrative, and notarial sources, focuses on social and political dynamics which were set up around the institution. The aim is to understand the mechanisms of military elites’ professional mobility within the borbon State. This study challenges the relevance of a cleavage which would oppose "foreigners" and "Spaniards". Opposite, it emphasizes the importance of the fidelity to Philipp V built by a few families during the War of Succession. The king rewarded these family groups by giving them an institutional basis – the military household – which enabled them to monopolise main employments in the army and the territorial administration. The memory of "Philippism" allowed these families to remain powerful long after Philipp V’s death, being opposed to any reform of the privileged corps. When Charles IV, thanks to Godoy, finally managed to control them, the military oligarchy rose up in Aranjuez in 1808

The primary concern of this work is real-time fluid simulation on modern programmable graphics hardware. It starts by introducing fundamental fluid simulation principles with focus on Smoothed particle hydrodynamics technique. The following discussion then provides a brief introduction to OpenCL as well as contemporary GPU hardware and outlines their programming specifics in comparison with CPUs. Finally, the last two chapters of this work, detail the problem analysis and its implementation.

The aim of my thesis is to create a procedure for the calculation of con rod stress in MBS Software. The thesis contains several parts, i.e. a short research of contemporary con rods, con rod modelling with the use of Pro/E, methodics of the finite-element con rod model preparation and model analysis in ANSYS Software, creating of virtual combustion engine template with flexible con rod and carrying out a strain hardening analysis in ADAM/Engine software. The theme of my thesis is quite demanding in the combination and the use of several computer software programmes. The thesis offers a survey of possibilities, procedures and methodics of con rod stress solutions that help to clarify the matter.

The diploma work is analyzing the most important problems of that period and trying to advert to different possibilities of the economical and political process. The goal of the work is not a deep assay of revisions but just the fact of connectivity of these revisions to the transition of the whole Czechoslovak society.

The aim of this thesis is to analyze and determine the actual flow of oil and natural gas in Europe, from the results to draw conslusions of the weight of the EU's dependence on Russian energy supplies and subsequently to determine the possibilities and prospects for further security flows of oil and natural gas to the EU. Oil and natural gas are the basic strategic raw materials of world economics, including economics of European countries. Most of the European countries does not have adequate supplies of energy raw materials. In particular, EU countries are therefore dependent on external supplies of oil and natural gas. The first chapter of the thesis is focused on oil and natural gas as major raw materials for the current energy situation in Europe. I defined the terms "oil" and "natural gas" and I analyzed the significant deposits of these materials and described their current production and consumption in Europe. In the second chapter I focused on the current flows of oil and natural gas in Europe, particularly on the European network of pipelines. On the baisis of these two chapters I specified the weight of the EU's dependence on energy supplies from Russia and identified the main problems of these supplies. In the third chapter of the thesis I dealt with the security flow of oil and natural gas to the EU and its perspectives and I gave the EU energy policy. I have analyzed selected documents of European energy policy, the EU's energy mix and I identified possible ways to reduce the EU's energy dependency. I included diversification of supply routes and the diversification of EU energy mix among these options. In conclusion, I summarized the current European energy situation, assessed European energy policy and outlined its future development.

The aim of this thesis is to investigate the way that growing demand for oil in China will influence the nation's energy security in its various aspects until year 2035. It is shown, that growing oil consumption in China is an irreversible trend that significantly endangers energy security both in the long-term and the short-term aspect. Consequently, author recommends steps that could eliminate or moderate those threats. Recommendations are than compared to actual policies of the Chinese government. The thesis reveals that China is making an effort to minimize risks to energy security by upgrading its domestic resilience and by using so called Oil diplomacy to secure its present and future petroleum imports. However, as insufficient were proved to be actions to preserve the environment.

The dissertation deals with prediction of crude oil price and is tailor-made for such companies which are heavily crude oil related. The main dissertation target is to make sure that such companies can get ready for price changes and safeguard themselves against negative consequences. Crude oil prices are the main factor which affects prices of such final products as petrol. It is a well known fact that quantitative predictions are not reliable and all those who are forced to real on such vague data set for their decision-making are reluctant to use them. That’s how we would like to have at least the correct trend information. The dissertation introduces some concepts originally developed within artificial intelligence theory for the crude oil predictions. Specifically common sense algorithms and qualitative interpretation of some aspects of theory of chaos are the main contribution towards expanding of available prediction tools described by the dissertation. A systematic analysis of a sequence of qualitative solutions is the key part of the dissertation.

This diploma thesis deals with pause identification with degraded speech signal. The speech characteristics and the conception of speech signal processing are described here. The work aim was to create the reliable recognizing method to establish speech and non-speech segments of speech signal with and without degraded speech signal. The five empty pause detectors were realized in computing environment MATLAB. There was the energetic detector in time domain, two-step detector in spectral domain, one-step integral detector, two-step integral detector and differential detector in cepstrum. The spectral detector makes use of energetic characteristics of speech signal in first step and statistic analysis in second step. Cepstral detectors make use of integral or differential algorithms. The detectors robustness was tested for different types of speech degradation and different values of Signal to Noise Ratio. The test of influence different speech degradation was conducted to compare non-speech detection for detectors by ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) Curves.

The diploma thesis deals with a project of a new multifunctional building in Pelhřimov. The object is composed by four above-ground and one underground floor. Commercial premises are located on the first above-ground floor. These premises consist of a travel agency, bakery, bookshop and sports outfitters. Two individual administrative premises can be found on the second floor. Eight flats were designed on the third and the fourth above-ground floor. On each of these floors, there are four flats; two of them were designed as two-bedroom and two of them as three-bedroom flat. A common area and a row garage can be found on the underground floor. The construction system of the object is a combination of reinforced concrete frame and a masonry system. The object is roofed with a warm flat roof with a typical sequence of layers.

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the factors that influences women's return to labor market after maternity leave in Prachatice district between years 2008 and 2015. Based on the teoretical resources there are created questions of semi-structured interview which is conducted with sixteen women from Prachatice district with children at age from 0 to 7 years. The part of the thesis is also analysis of labor market in the district in mentioned time period using the data relates to the employment and unemployment of women. Based on the results, the hypotesis is verified:"Women in Prachatice district deemed the return to the labor market after maternity leave as complicated and local labor market does not fit to their requirements." Women find job offers for mother with children as deficient, shows heavily dependence on help from extended family, in district is low supply of care facilities for younger children, operating time of kindergartens doesn't correspond to the needs of working mothers. The study includes recommendations for Prachatice district suggested by author which are added-value to the thesis. There is no study dealing with the situation of women in labor market yet, the results might be a stimulus for further researches.

This diploma thesis focuses on the problematics of providing ERP in Cloud. The main objectives of this thesis lie in either identification of the situation in the ERP market, provision of an outline of particular deployment models, evaluation of strong and weak parts of ERP in cloud in contractor's and customer's point of view and in charting of potential risks and chances for the area. Obtained theoretical findings are utilized in the practical part of the thesis. Its significant portion is dedicated to proposition of methodology for the selection of right ERP model supply. This is then used for the particular choice of Oracle JD Edwards implementation. To achieve these objectives author realizes an analysis of electronic and printed resources as well as consultations with experts and also uses his own practical experiencies from Algotech Corporation. The main contribution of this thesis is in the creation of comprehensive sum of problematics and in the formation of methodology for the right type of deployment selection. This is all considering the further application and verification on the example. Thesis is divided into five theme parts -- ERP, Cloud, ERP in Cloud, methodology and practical setting of the presented methodology.

Les puits quantiques InGaN/GaN montrent la plus grande efficacité connue dans le bleu-UV et le défi actuel dans ce type de matériau est de pousser leur émission vers les grandes longueurs d’ondes. Ceci serait possible en augmentant la composition en indium, mais il faut alors gérer les contraintes résultantes. Ce travail a mis en œuvre la microscopie électronique en transmission et la diffraction des rayons X pour déterminer la composition chimique à l’intérieur des couches InGaN, le taux de relaxation et le type de défauts présents. Les résultats montrent qu’il n’y a pas de fluctuations de composition en indium dans les couches d’InGaN étudiées avec des taux d’indium de l’ordre de 20%. Ainsi, la différence d’émission des échantillons pourrait s’expliquer par la variation d’épaisseur des puits quantiques InGaN et laprésence de défauts. En effet, plusieurs types de défauts ont été observés et caractérisés tels que les pinholes ou des domaines de défauts plans selon leur origine. Dans les multicouches InGaN/GaN avec couches AlGaN compensatrices de contrainte,la diffraction des rayons X a montré que lorsque l’épaisseur des couches d’AlGaN augmente en gardant constante l’épaisseur entre les couches actives d’InGaN (avec une valeur d’environ 16-17 nm), les puits quantiques sont totalement contraints dans le plan de croissance et en dehors. Par microscopie électronique, nous montrons queleur relaxation se fait par formation aussi bien de défauts en domaines plans que de dislocation de type a. Ces dislocations se propagent des pits quantiques vers la surface, et la densité des défauts augmente avec l’épaisseur des couches d’AlGaNInGaN/GaN quantum wells show the highest known emission efficiency in UV-blue and the current challenge is to push to longer wavelengths. This would be possible by increasing the indium composition but the challenge becomes how to handle the resulting strains. This work has combined transmission electron microscopy and Xray diffraction in order to determine the relaxation rates, the local chemical composition and defects formation in these systems. The results show that there are no composition fluctuations in these InGaN layers where the indium content was around 20%. Therefore, the differences in emission may be explained by the changes in quantum wells thicknesses and/or the presence of defects. Indeed, several types of defects have been observed and characterized, such as pinholes or planar defect domains. For InGaN/GaN quantum wells with strain compensating AlGaN layers, Xray diffraction showed that, when the AlGaN layer thickness increases, keeping constant the spacing between InGaN layers (around 16-17 nm), the quantum wellsare totally strained in and out the growth plan. Using transmission electron microscopy, it is shown that the relaxation occurs through the formation of domains as well as a type dislocations. The dislocations propagate from the quantum well tothe surface and the density of the defects increases with the thickness of the AlGaN layers

The subject of this thesis is a structural design of a car showroom in municipality Jihlava. For this purpose two different concepts were developed. The main bearing system of the first consists of steel truss girder supported by single profile steel columns. The second idea, a structure with axial ground area 36,0 x 18,5-23,5 m , is made from glue laminated timber. The second mentioned concept was chosen for detailed calculation and documentation. The structure was modelled by 1D member while using Scia Engineer. Results obtained from the computer analysis were taken and main strutctural members were check by manual calculation.

The diploma thesis deals with the switching of spin vortices in magnetic nanodisks. First, the basic concepts of (micro)magnetism are defined and existing theoretical and experimental achievements in the field of switching of the two basic characteristics (chirality and polarity) of magnetic vortex are summarized. Then the principle of dynamic switching of magnetic vortex chirality using in-plane magnetic field pulse with a well defined amplitude and duration is presented. There is no need to use a certain shape of nanodisks or asymmetry in magnetic field distribution. Nanostructures were prepared by the multi-step electron beam lithography and ion beam sputtering. Individual steps of sample preparation and optimization for the magnetization dynamics measurements are described. Finally, the experimental measurements of the dynamic switching of chirality on prepared samples obtained by transmission x-ray microscopy at the synchrotron Advanced Light Source at Berkeley, USA are presented and discussed.

Cette thèse vise à étudier le regard porté sur le siam et le roi chulalongkorn (rama v) dans le discours journalistique de trois quotidiens nationaux français (le petit journal, le petit parisien et le matin), publiés pendant une période marquée par le conflit franco-siamois en 1893 et les visites d’état du roi siamois en 1897 et 1907. Le discours médiatique de la presse écrite est d’abord appréhendé, en fonction de sa finalité communicative, à travers la foncière hétérogénéité sémiolinguistique des dispositifs péritextuels (du titre aux illustrations). Nous posons comme hypothèse qu’il se laisse considérer comme un instrument à la fois d’information et de propagande, cherchant à transmettre des avis sur Les ÉvÉnements socio-politiques et culturels pour faire accepter au lectORAT un point de vue conforme aux prises de position habituelles du journal. C’est pourquoi l’étude des formes narrative, descriptive, explicative ou argumentative révèle non seulement les images du Siam et de son roi à travers divers types de séquences textuelles, mais aussi le parti pris idéologique des rédacteurs quant aux relations diplomatiques entre les deux pays. La structuration des idées, aux niveaux discursif et interdiscursif, est ensuite déterminée en rapport avec les propriétés stylistico-rhétoriques et la force persuasive du discours de presse. Enfin, le dernier chapitre traite des opÉrations énonciatives relatives aux instances de production et de réception médiatiques – en lien avec le contexte historique et événementiel –, ainsi que du positionnement pragmatique du rédacteur-journaliste et des autres énonciateurs cités (via le discours rapporté)This thesis aimed to examine the representation of siam and king chulalongkorn (king rama v) in the journalistic sppech of three french national daily newspapers (le petit jounral, le petit parisien and le matin), published during a period marked by the frech-siamese conflict in 1893 and the official visits of king rama v to france in 1897 and 1907.the media discourse of the press was apprehended at first, based on its communitive purpose, through semiolinguistic heterogeneousness of peritextual devices (titles and illustrations). the reseacher hypothesised that the media discourse was an instrument of information and propaganda at the same time, trying to make the readers accept a point of view in correspondent with the usual attitude of the newspapers. therefore, the study of the narrative, descriptive, explanatory or argumentative forms revealed not only the images of siam and king rama v through different types of textual sequence, but also the ideological prejudice of the writers redarging the diplomatic relations between the two countries. the structure of the ideas, as discursive and interdiscursive levels, was then determinded in touch with the rhetorical properties and the persuasive strength in press’s discourse. finally, the last chapter discussed of enunciative operations in relation to the media process of production and reception – in connection with the historical and factual context –, as well as of the pragmatic position of the journalist and the quoted other speakers (via direct and indirect speech)

This thesis describes the characterisation of GaMnAs, related compounds and heterostructures. GaMnAs and other (III,Mn)V compounds have provided many interesting insights into fundamental physics, and are of considerable potential interest commercially in the field of spintronics. This study examines a set of samples grown by molecular beam epitaxy and characterised using several techniques: primarily this study makes use of the x-ray absorption techniques, x-ray magnetic circular dichroism(XMCD) and x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). In addition, x-ray diffraction (XRD), transport measurements and super conducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometry were used as complimentary techniques. GaMnAs layers with epitaxial Fe grown on top, are shown to have a sub-nanometre interfacial layer which remains polarised above room temperature. A detailed understanding of these systems is obtained by applying the element specific nature of XMCD in combination with two different probing depths to explore separately the nature of the coupling of the bulk and interfacial region. The coupling between the interfacial layer and the Fe is shown to be strongly antiferromagnetic (AF). A weaker coupling is also shown to exist between the Fe and the bulk of the \gamnas layer below the Curie temperature (Tc). This coupling is also AF at low fields, leading to an exchange bias for the entire layer. Doping of GaMnAs with P is shown to have several effects on the magnetic properties of the GaMnAs layer. Changes in the layer strain are observed using high resolution XRD. This strain also manifests itself in the Mn L_2,3 XMCD spectra and the relationship between the two is shown to be linear. A pronounced effect on the magnetic anisotropy is observed using SQUID measurements, with the easy axis switching from in-plane, in the compressively strained GaMnAs, to out-of-plane in the higher doped GaMnAsP layers. A decrease in total magnetic moment per Mn atom and Tc are observed with increased doping. This is inferred not to be due to a direct effect of the P on the local surrounding of the Mn ions, owing to the striking similarity of the XMCD spectra. This is instead attributed to reduced participation of Mn ions in the magnetic ordering. Finally, K edge XMCD is used to reveal the element specific nature of unoccupied states near the Fermi level in a set of GaMnAs and (In,Ga,Mn)As samples with differing Mn doping levels . The character of the holes in low-doped samples is shown to be markedly different than for those in the highly doped metallic samples. A transfer of orbital magnetic moment from the Mn to the As sites is observed on crossing the metal-insulator transition, with the large XMCD on Mn sites in low doped samples interpreted as a sign of hole localisation around the Mn ion.

This dissertation covers the development of fabrication techniques for Bragg-grating-based integrated optical devices in III-V materials. Work on this rich family of devices has largely been limited to numerical analysis because of the difficulties of their fabrication. The challenges of fabrication are addressed by dividing the problem along two lines: (1) development of an advanced x-ray mask system that addresses future nanolithography needs, and (2) development of fabrication techniques that addresses problems specific to Bragg-grating-based filters. A new x-ray mask configuration is described that improves many aspects of the x-ray mask. A novel means of measuring nondestructively x-ray mask distortion on a global scale was developed, called holographic phase-shifting interferometry (HPSI). This system, in conjunction with appropriate thermal input can potentially provide active correction of x-ray mask distortion. Current microphotonic fabrication issues are presented along with a detailed description of the dual-layer hardmask process (DLHP). The development of the DLHP was specifically geared towards the special requirements of Bragg-grating based microphotonics. Taken as a whole the author hopes that this dissertation serves to facilitate the building of advanced future integrated-optical devices.

The Diploma Thesis is dealing with questions of investment decision-making in the area of IT and can be a complete guidance on the basic concepts of decision-making on the investment projects, methods of financial evaluation of such projects and the ways of its application in the sphere of IT. It is mainly aimed on the projects dealing with internal processes in IT organizations and optimalization of its management ? IT Service Management (ITSM). The paper deals with existing methodologies and standards applicable to IT Service Management and closely works with the latest library of best practices ITIL V3. The introduction gets the reader into the basics of the IT management, introduces the existent market standards and creates a liaison between the IT and business in questions of investments. The second part pays attention to the principles of ITSM and describes the benefits that can process optimalization bring to the company. The third chapter opens up the IT investment topic and introduces various methodological concepts and models used not only in the classical financial theory, but in the modern management practice as well. It offers a basic overview on the methods of investment project evaluation, e.g. Net Present Value (NPV), The Payback Period Method, The Internal Rate of Return (IRR), The Profitability Index, and the most popular one ? Return on Investment (ROI). The following chapter applies the measure of Return on Investment (ROI) to the projects of ITSM implementation according to ITIL. It shows the basic principles of the method usage, describes its main components and introduces the way of identification and evaluation of the benefits, which those projects bring to the business. Gained knowledge is based on the real practical examples ? several worked-out business cases created for the customers of the Hewlett-Packard Company. The last part of this chapter shortly describes several software tools for building the similar business cases and their own methodology. The last chapter in devoted to the situation on the local and world market and addresses the practical application of the methods of IT projects evaluation in the companies. The conclusion then summarizes important parts and key elements of the paper.

The thesis deals with the current trends and development of the unconventional oil and natural gas production. The main aim is to evaluate and analyze the global development of unconventional production and the influence of its growth in the last decade on the global economy and the given markets. In addition, not only the pros, but also the risks and limitations of unconventional production, are examined, e.g. economic and environmental issues. The final part focuses on the United States and the local shale boom. Based on the analysis of American unconventional production, the future of these sources is predicted. At the end of the thesis the effects of shale boom on the U.S. economy are explored as well, focusing mainly on the U.S. trade balance.

The Diploma thesis, Jacobite Risings and its Reflection in Literature, deals with historical and literary analysis with the aid of historical texts, which describe events and mood of people in the course of Jacobite risings in Scotland. The aim of this thesis is to compare historical novels from fourth of the chosen authors and to find out if history is only background or the main theme of the story. The chosen representatives of historical novels are Sir Walter Scott, Nigel Tranter, Neil Munro and Anya Seton. The first part of the thesis introduces the theory and characterization of the genre of historical novel and describes historical events at the beginning of the 18th century. The next part focuses on analysis of the chosen historical novels. The objective of the analysis is to point out the differences of the texts and the connection of the story with historical facts.
