The paper "The Influence of International Law on Contemporary Geopolitics", developed by Dr. Chiţu Alexandru-Cristinel is the result of documentary and research efforts carried out by the author during the internship of the doctoral thesis with the same title in the field "Law" in 2019. Publication of the doctoral thesis at the "Top Form" publishing house proves the author's intention to provide society with more information on the relationship between international law and contemporary geopolitics. The paper has a complex, interdisciplinary character, bringing together elements of international law, economic law, political science and geopolitics, being based on extensive documentation.

This is a courageous book. Published as the author's doctoral thesis, this work strives retrospectively to “determine the significance of age in the acquisition of a second language” (p. 26). It has explicit interdisciplinary ambitions to integrate concepts and practices from various disciplines in which bilingual development is studied: notably, sociocultural theory, developmental psychology, psycholinguistics, text linguistics, and pragmatics. These multifaceted theoretical aims are anchored in an equally broad empirical ground, drawing on various types of data. Not surprisingly, the result is a theoretically intriguing, yet methodologically puzzling, approach to the study of bilingualism and second language acquisition.

The authors of the article put forward a thesis about the need of modification or even revision of the way economic sciences (ES) are practiced in ontological, epistemo- logical and methodological aspects.2 It results from the impact of a series of factors that appeared even in the pre-pandemic period, for which COVID-19 may be a complementary, reinforcing circumstance, and even directly determining change. The structure of the article was subordinated to the adopted goal, which is the author's reference to the thesis. As an exemplification of the areas requiring change, eight issues were selected, for which a set of postulates constituting the desired modifications in conducting research in ES was submitted. The main method used in the study is the method of critical analysis of the literature.

This article draws on research conducted for the author's doctoral thesis. It presents the development of the Meeting Space Framework to address what is needed to engage in meaningful conversations about suicide, from the perspective of student nurses. An interpretive methodology of constructivist grounded theory was used, underpinned by the theoretical perspective of symbolic interactionism. The core category of Meeting Spaces resulted; engaging in meaningful conversations about suicide is co-created in illuminating space within the context of a human pivotal encounter (positive) as opposed to an unceremonious pivotal encounter (negative). A certain kind of space is required to support engagement in meaningful conversations about suicide. It requires humanness and an intention and ability to see the whole person beyond the limiting word of ‘suicide’.

The book „Identitate și alteritate. Studiu asupra ceangăilor din Moldova” [Identity and Otherness. Study on the Csangos from Moldova] was published in Iași in 2019, by Lumen Publishing House, and was written by Cătălin George Fedor, who has a PhD in philosophy from “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași and was a postdoctoral researcher in the field of sociology / social and cultural anthropology at same university. In 2016, this research represented the author's doctoral thesis, which he later published as a volume. This book has a pronounced sociological character, and in the 350 pages of the volume the author insists on solving a current problem, which we still encounter in some areas of Moldova even in 2021, namely: the lack of concrete self-identification of Catholics in Moldova, Romania.

ABSTRACTThis article recovers some of the categories investigated by authors of the Latin American cultural studies, with the aim of understanding their thoughts and to establish dialogues with a problem of concrete investigation. The proposal not only follows from the author's doctoral thesis -based on the study of Pipinas, a town in the province of Buenos Aires (Argentina) hit by the neoliberal policies of the last decades of the 20th century-, it is also the result of her training as a fellow of the National University of La Plata (UNLP).RESUMENEste artículo recupera algunas de las categorías indagadas por autores que se incluyen en la corriente de los estudios culturales latinoamericanos, en pos de comprender matrices de pensamiento y establecer diálogos con una problemática de investigación concreta.

‘Otto Weininger sent me his Geschlecht und Charakter, a terrific book that seems to solve the most difficult of all problems. He pronounces clearly what I only managed to utter. Voilà un homme!’ These words, from Strindberg's article ‘Idolatry, Gynolatry’ are meant as an homage to Otto Weininger (1880–1903) who was barely twenty-three years old when he committed suicide. Strindberg's article was published by the famous Vienna periodical Die Fackel which played an important part in defending and propagating Weininger and his book. Weininger's extraordinary and scandalous work, the full title of which is Geschlecht und Charakter. Eine prinzipielle Untersuchung (Sex and Character. A Fundamental Investigation; English edition – 1906) was published in June 1903. It was a revised version of his doctoral thesis presented at Vienna University in June 1902. Outstanding as the book is, it also posseses some disturbing features and it did not receive the welcome its author had expected. This poor reception, or rather the lack of any serious response, was an important factor in the author's suicide on 4 October 1903. The book became the subject of critical interest only after its author's death: suicide turned out to be a good advertisement.

This article investigates how the traditional attire and religious iconography of Cristóbal Balenciaga's (1895–1972) country of origin inspired his designs. The arguments presented here build on what has already been established on the subject, provide new data regarding the cultural context that informed the couturier's creative process (with which the Anglo-Saxon world is less familiar) and conclude by investigating the reasons and timing of his exploration of these fields. They suggest why this Spanish influence is present in his innovations in the 1950s and 1960s and go beyond clichéd interpretations of the ruffles of flamenco dress and bullfighters’ jackets. The findings derive from research for the author's doctoral thesis and her curatorial contribution to the exhibition Coal and Velvet. Balenciaga and Ortiz Echagüe. The central task for doctoral students, through the process of writing, feedback and revision, is to create a thesis that establishes their scholarly identity by situating themselves and their contribution within a field. This longitudinal study of two first-year doctoral students investigated the relationship between response to supervisor feedback on the thesis proposal and the development of scholarly identity (self-confidence, independence in research thinking, positioning the self in relation to others), through the lens of individual agency (self-assessing work, seeking and critically engaging with others’ feedback in order to clarify research thinking). Data consisted of semi-structured interviews conducted over 3 months, different drafts of the research proposal, and written supervisor comments on the drafts. Narrative analysis and open coding were used to produce in-depth portraits of the individual experiences and perceptions of each participant. There were differences between the two individuals in their growing scholarly identities as regards their agency. The degree of agency exhibited in engaging critically with feedback in relation to self-assessment, and clarifying research thinking appeared linked to the development of the student’s scholarly identity: her sense of confidence, scholarly independence in thinking, and positioning in relation to others. Such confidence and ownership in turn inspired greater agency. Interestingly, differences in the extent to which participants were agentive in relation to feedback appeared influenced by previous experiences with feedback. These results contribute a richer understanding of the relationship between use of supervisor feedback and growing scholarly independence.

This chapter is based on the author's doctoral thesis. She provides an account of a project on creativity in music education, more specifically a musical classroom for developing creativity. The aim of the study is to find examples or mechanisms of creative pedagogy. This study complements the current tradition for studying methods in teaching and learning music. Creative, prescriptive, and communicative designs of teaching and learning interact during sessions of music making. The empirical findings enable a discussion of the conditions that define creative music making as art and/or play as a socio-cultural activity.

This study represents a clipping of the author's thesis, and it aims to discuss the production of the genre ‘personal recounts' through collaborative tweets in a Brazilian classroom. This research investigates the online collaboration and feedback through Twitter by English students as a foreign language (EFL). Learners provided peer feedback via tweets to improve each other's personal recounts. This discussion focuses on analyzing the personal recounts production in an EFL classroom located at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Based on the research outcomes, it has been concluded that digital technologies, aligned with effective feedback and collaborative learning, helped develop EFL writing. It also encouraged learners' autonomy by establishing their effective participation in production and revision in collaboration with their classmates.

In a market economy, organizational decisions determine the fate of markets, societies, and nations. The constant challenges and the emergence of socio-environmental problems stimulate societies and organizations to seek a new paradigm as a disruptive worldview model that enables viable solutions and even more effective results, capable of overcoming the previous paradigm. Thus, the predominance of a paradigm tends to influence the evolution of science, organizational decision-making, the adaptation of markets and the advancement of society over time. The development of paradigmatic studies by the social sciences contributed to the classification of different worldviews and specific philosophical aspects that allowed the identification of functionalism/positivism as the dominant paradigm. The economic progress of industrial society was strongly influenced by the functionalist/positivist paradigm, whose philosophical bases are based on Cartesian rational thought directed to the objectives of maximizing economic results. However, given its objectivist and fragmentary bias, this dominant paradigm has serious limitations in disregarding other aspects or challenges such as socio-environmental ones. Currently, recognizing the limitations of the functionalist/positivist paradigm, both science and organizations seek to find models that better meet market demands in a more integrated, systemic and interpretative way to the various socio-environmental dimensions, aspects and challenges, pointing to a paradigmatic transition towards sustainability. Originating from the first author's doctoral thesis, this theoretical essay aimed to reflect on the possible influences of social science paradigms on organizational decisions for sustainability. This study used the paradigmatic classification of Burrell and Morgan (1979) to carry out some reflections on paradigms of the social sciences, organizational decision-making and sustainability. The study resulted in a typology that allows the classification of organizational decisions into simple and complex based on a set of criteria analyzed in the paradigmatic, methodological and theoretical perspective.

The processes of urban sprawl, has been one of the great themes of the urban development of most of the municipalities in our area in the last 50 or 60 years. The current configuration of the territory of the latter, can not be adequately explained without understanding the logic behind the process of emergence, development and consolidation of this mode of settlement. The phenomenon known as illegal allotments or urbanizations, is a paradigmatic case of this form of growth of the city. However, it is a little-studied, and when it has been, it is usually in the context of global analysis of these processes of dispersion and urban diffusion. The communication is set as main objective to show the first results of the work done to date. This is inserted into a larger work, which involves the author's doctoral thesis, which focus of study are illegal subdivisions and developments in the city of Cordoba (Spain). Secondly, we briefly expose future lines of research in the context of the thesis.

"This theoretical study is part of a doctoral thesis and aims to investigate how the psychoanalytic thinking of Hélio Pellegrino - the Brazilian psychoanalyst, poet and writer - is structured and its ethical and political implications in the formation of psychoanalysis. We note the importance of thematic research, since there is no scientific publication that has as its object of study a systematic analysis of the author's psychoanalytic production. Furthermore, investigations of this kind contribute to the establishment of a reference bibliography on psychoanalysis in Brazil. That said, this research was developed and completed through a study of a large part of his psychoanalytic production, which is under the custody of the personal archives of the Museum of Brazilian Literature, at the Casa Rui Barbosa Foundation (FCRB). In this work, we outline some elements of the analysis found in his work, whose focus is on reflecting on the epistemological, conceptual and practical foundations of psychoanalytic theory. It has, as a constant concern, the analysis of the problems that structure Brazilian society, observed through his own reading of the Oedipus complex, the constitution of subjectivity and the social pact, in general, and in Brazil, in particular. As such, he discusses the explicit commitment of psychoanalysis in transforming the serious social problems faced by Brazil, which are related to the serious structural problems of international capitalism, and which are also reflected in the problems of the development of psychoanalytic institutions around the world."

Comparing the percentage of the total population aged 65 and over in 2021, Japan (29.1%) is the world's highest super-aged society. It has been predicted for some time that the existing healthcare system would not be able to cope with the increasing demand for healthcare. One of the government's proposals to restructure the healthcare system is to make greater use of team medicine. The purpose of this paper is to clarify what has changed through team medicine mediated by information tools. The study site was a medium-sized hospital in a regional city in Japan. The research method used was ethnography with a focus on participant observation. The study period was eight years, from 2012 to 2020. One of the authors conducted the investigation while working at the hospital as a hospital staff. In the 2012 revision of medical fees, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) added the new item of "guidance and management for prevention of dialysis (through team medicine)" to prevent serious complications in diabetic patients. The new reimbursement system only set out the conditions for calculation and left the operation of the system to the hospitals themselves. Hospitals were initially confused, and medical professionals did not know what to do. However, the introduction of the MAP information tool, which visualizes and lists the patients' treatment status, has made it possible for the health professionals to work proactively. Through the mediation of MAP, inadequate treatment of patients (e.g., lack of necessary tests, inadequate selection of appropriate drugs, etc.) became clear. Under such circumstances, not only nurses and pharmacists but also medical secretaries have been transformed into people who are relied upon by doctors. Such a change was born from their attitude that they did not accept team medicine, which was mainly based on hierarchy and division of labor among medical professionals, and that they were willing to take on the work of other professions. In other words, each specialized profession filled in the gaps in patient care that tended to arise by overlapping their respective duties. In addition, the relationship between doctors and other professionals has changed from a hierarchical relationship to a mutual relationship in which problems are raised. In conclusion, it was found that the mediation of information tools and the overlapping of work with other professions with one's own professional area did not reduce the organizational capacity of the team and promoted positive changes in professional relationships.

The essay in question brings images that were created during the development process of this author's thesis, made to compose the electronic game from the doctoral/PhD research in Arts. It is the result of readings and exercises on Aby Warburg's reflections on the survival of images through their anachrony and their intuitive interrelationships (pathosformeln), strongly influenced by his Atlas Mnemosine project, where he collects several and different images of various eras and organizes them on Boards, in them Warburg assumes them as elements that talk about some themes (in this case, his Boards spoke of the Renaissance, a constant theme in his research), this "talking about" capability is considered by the historian/theorist similar to a text, rather than words, images, Instead of grammar, aesthetics, the requirements for interpreting the Boards should be another, deeper, it demands more boldness and context. So, understanding Warburg's reflections as a method of reading and interpreting images in their contexts, I started to organize images that I photograph from my daily life, or that I encounter with different media, and which, intuitively, I realized have a common essence: my (Amazonian) region, I started to redraw them using an hatch technique, sometimes putting them on maps or reinforcing some feature that could refer to old cartographic drawings with the intention of, as a kind of cartographer of a contemporary Amazon, reframing stereotypes, paying attention to the local-global relations to which the region ends up being subjected by its inhabitants and other individuals around the world. Those drawings are build in a aesthetic-intuitive interrelationship with each other, based on the Amazon region in a collection of improbable images in the face of the forest-and-river stereotype, without ignoring such, being just a starting point for reflection on a proposed conversation by the images. Can an urban image be related to the Forest? Was it a good or bad relationship? Whatever is the relationship, would it be good or bad for whom? What do we have from the forest in the urban and vice versa? Where is the conflict and where is the symbiosis? Images, unlike texts, are better at instigating questions; where some may see confusion before the "freedom of interpretation" which the images propose to us, others, better equipped (or simply audacious), see in this freedom the opportunity for construction of deep knowledge, more linked to feeling (pathos) it’s not just “read” something from the image, but “feel it” instead. The process of capturing, curating, drawing and presenting the images carries a large number of reflections for the author of this work and hopes that other reflections may emerge from those who face such images, allowing not only the free interpretation of the individual works, but also the order in which they present themselves, thus exploring a greater potential of questions, feelings and interpretations. Thus, the author hopes that this experiment will be an exercise in interpretation similar to what he expects to see in the game he develops in his research.
