Nowadays world economy is becoming more and more integrated due to regional integrations. Many economists, politicians argue about theeffectiveness of these regional integrations. The purpose of the research paper is to analyze the functions of these integrations, their goals, aims and the benefits for the member country. The research was conducted by several methods, the previous researches about the regionalintegrations issue were analyzed; the survey and interview were conducted. The result is that the membership of some influential and strongregional integration gives some benefits to the country; many countries have been developed and made impressive progress with the help ofregional integrations. But to conclude, behind the benefits there is politics on which the policy of international organizations and their actionsdepends. Sometimes a member country has to give up its independence and freedom of choice, it should act more carefully, because it is partof integration and has higher responsibility.

At the current stage of economic globalization, the leading factor, among several others, is the intensification of regional economic integration. The share of countries participating in this regional integration covers about 60% of the world GDP. In this article we apply statistical analysis along with several theoretical approaches to ground and explain the objectivity of convergence and divergence of the national economic systems within the frameworks of integrational unions. We also analyze the trend of economic space asynchronization inside integrations along with the national and regional factors of ongoing regionalization. Our conclusions concern primarily the supranational instruments of participating economies’levelling.

Traditional method of international law is consensual one. Regional integration needs special methodology. The article reveals peculiarities of different methods of regional integration (intergovernmental, Community method, method of open coordination). The examples of application of integration methods in practice of different regional organizations are given. The EU law-making process is characterized with regards to choice of the method of legal regulation. The integration process demands wider application of community methods of legal regulation. However, some mechanisms for balancing the interests of diverse actors of integration are necessary, including through interaction and codependence of the latter in supranational methodology of regional integration.

There is a proliferation trend of a number of regional economic integrations in the world, as well as their deepening. This global trend spilled over in Africa, where the creation and deepening of regional economic integrations with the ultimate objective/goal of establishing one continental integration is considered a development imperative. A single market of 1.3 billion people can make a difference, from the aspect of trade, productivity, competitiveness, creation of new jobs and higher living standard. This paper aims to provide an overview and discuss challenges and perspectives of the development of regional integrations in Africa with special emphasis on eight regional economic communities recognized as building blocks of the African Union. Accordingly, the contribution of the paper is twofold. First, it gives an overview of the main features of regional economic integration of Africa and the performance of eight regional economic communities. Second, it identifies the main challenges and gains of regional economic integration processes in Africa and offers recommendations for further successful regional integration processes in Africa.

Rapid development of economic integration encourages the scientific community to search for models and cooperation mechanisms that could explain the integration processes in the world economy. This paper examines the key models of integration assessment that exist in economic scientific literature - “linear” by B. Balassa (1), “core-periphery” by L. Tindemans (2), “gravitational” by J. Tinbergen (3). The purpose of the article is to determine the most relevant and universal model that allows evaluating the integration interaction in all integration associations. Using the example of the of EAEU, APEC and AC integration blocks, the author carries out the analysis of these three integration models. The study is based on the author's approach, which are determines a set of indicators and defines each model characteristics. The paper highlights the criteria for correlating regional integration blocks with their corresponding integration assessment models and provides a graphical visualization of the models. The findings show that a wide variety of regional integration blocks in the world economy today call into question the choice of one universal integration model from the existing ones. The author develops a new system of indicators which will subsequently help conduct a comprehensive assessment of integration between different countries and groups of countries.

Resumo:
Over recent decades ASEAN has advanced a policy of regional integration, starting with the ASEAN Free Trade Area, following on with the ASEAN+1 free trade agreements with its six main trading partners, and now with ASEAN+6. To further advance ASEAN's regional integration in the East Asian context, it should continue to focus on further liberalization of trade in goods, investment, and services that can facilitate more trade and investment. East Asian integration is designed not to be just an “extensive regional trade agreement,” but is more a “responsive vehicle” that consists of trade and investment commitments combined with facilitation. To keep regional integration viable, it should adopt an open regionalism.

This paper assesses the welfare effects of integration in Latin America. It estimates trade creation and diversion of: 1) integration of the four Mercosur countries (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay) and 2) amalgamation of Mercosur with the Andean group (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru). The method used to proxy trade creation is the change in total imports of a country from before to after integration, while trade diversion is proxied by the change in the country’s external imports between the two periods. A “control country” approach is used to hold constant the effects on imports of factors other than integration, such as income and price changes. With some exceptions Latin American integration was found beneficial to welfare in that trade creation exceeded trade diversion.
