- What are the personal determinants of political success? What capacities are needed to actively contribute to the functioning of democracy? What motives, beliefs, habits may predispose toward effective participation of citizens and successful political activity of elected officials? In accordance with Social Cognitive Theory, the following paper presents the results of a research project that places personal self-efficacy beliefs at the basis of political commitment and participation. The same efficacy beliefs have been shown to play a key mediational role between personality traits, basic values, and political participation. In addition, the practical implications of these findings with respect to the selection of political personnel is highlighted.Key words: politics, participation, self-efficacy, values, motives, mediation

Abstract In this paper, we will give a general introduction to the Ali CMB Polarization Telescope (AliCPT) project, which is a Sino–US joint project led by the Institute of High Energy Physics and involves many different institutes in China. It is the first ground-based Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) polarization experiment in China and an integral part of China's Gravitational-wave Program. The main scientific goal of the AliCPT project is to probe the primordial gravitational waves (PGWs) originating from the very early Universe. The AliCPT project includes two stages. The first stage, referred to as AliCPT-1, is to build a telescope in the Ali region of Tibet at an altitude of 5250 meters. Once completed, it will be the highest ground-based CMB observatory in the world and will open a new window for probing PGWs in the northern hemisphere. The AliCPT-1 telescope is designed to have about 7000 transition-edge sensor detectors at 95 GHz and 150 GHz. The second stage is to have a more sensitive telescope (AliCPT-2) with more than 20 000 detectors. Our simulations show that AliCPT will improve the current constraint on the tensor-to-scalar ratio r by one order of magnitude with three years' observation. Besides the PGWs, AliCPT will also enable a precise measurement of the CMB rotation angle and provide a precise test of the CPT symmetry. We show that three years' observation will improve the current limit by two orders of magnitude.

This work is situated among the Youth Studies, specifically in the debate on Youth and music . While academic field, it is part of the sociocultural Musical Education approach. Characterized as a case study, the qualitative research has as purpose to know how musical practices experienced by young people of a social project called Orquestra Jovem de Uberlândia (Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil) takes place in the constitution of their youth condition (ABAD, 2002; ABRAMO, 2008; DAYRELL, 2007; SINGER, 2008; SPOSITO, 2008). For this, the study seeks to apprehend the circumstances of the involvement of those actors with musical practices in the social project, configured as a space for teaching and learning string instruments; the means by which they build their knowledge of musical practices; and the meanings they attach to such practices in front of their youth condition. The research data shows young people have experiences that mark their life, reflecting on their relationship with instances as the family, school and work. Whereas they experience to make music in that context, they build knowledge and constitute themselves as subjects exercising and recognizing their potential, constructing and regulating their self-identity, idealizing life projects, establishing ties of affection, feeling within a group, relating to traditional instances of socialization, taking responsibility for themselves, thinking and acting autonomously. This is because they are motivated by the participation in the project as a space of sociability known as pedaço (MAGNANI, 2002, 2007a, 2007b), by the opportunity for experimentation of musical practices valued as a process of experiential and community character (SMALL, 1989, 1998, 1999), by the possibility of interaction with music in specific circumstances, incurring in semiotic force of music (DENORA, 2000, 2003), by the expansion of relation with musical practices experienced in the project to other spaces of circuito (MAGNANI, 2002, 2007a, 2007b) and also by the limited influence of adults in that context. The case study aims to contribute to reflections concerning Music Education insofar as it focuses on the subject to whom the processes of teaching and learning are addressed, considering in her/his living conditions and highlighting the complexity of her/his relation to the musical practices involved in the constitution of youth condition of those actors.

Since residents are the primary users of their local communities, participation in residential development is both their right and obligation. When the local inhabitants are allowed to actively participate in this development process, not only are their needs better met, but their involvement can make up for any deficiencies in the professional efforts and greatly prosper the practical implementation of the project itself. Although the national government has finally come to stress the importance of rural development (ie - the "Creating A New Environment" and "Enriching Our Rural Villages" projects), it is an undeniable fact that local community conditions in rural Taiwan are gradually deteriorating. Due to a results-oriented emphasis within the development process and a preference for public works, residential participation has been seriously lacking. In addition, there has also existed a huge gap between the original intent and the actual outcome of these community development projects. Attempts to both "capture the uniqueness of the local culture" while concurrently trying to "preserve the ecology and beautify the entire landscape" have resulted in efforts that oftentimes work against each other. "The Holistic Approach To Community Development", on the other hand, places a greater emphasis on active participation by the local residents and a redeeming of their culture. But although this approach reaffirms traditional values, rebuilds the community environment, and improves the standard of living, the local citizenry are apt to lose both their confidence and their patience due to a rapidly changing society and the relatively slow results of such a collaborative effort. The main issues worth considering, therefore, are as follows: How is it possible to promote residential participation under the existing "divided labor" system of development? What are the key pragmatic strategies of mobilizing participation of the local residents? This thesis defines residential participation as "those actions of the local residents which are characterized by their investment of resources into the community development process and are under the mutual direction of said residents and professionals." After exploring the various conditions of rural Taiwan society, I will discuss the strategic considerations in regards to fostering motivation for residential participation, creating viable opportunities for such participation, and encouraging an ongoing commitment to the joint developmental process. Finally, an actual landscape project involving a rural aboriginal community will be undertaken, and as the architect of this community project, I will endeavor to mobilize the wholehearted participation of its local residents. The following methods and the results of their implementation should be able to serve as a reference and model for similar research and applied projects. "Reintroducing traditional values into the community." "Implementing a family-based holistic development strategy that will influence the society." "Uniting the hearts of the families by developing creative expressions of their unique oral history and traditions." "Creating public centers of communal interchange within the local society." "Establishing areas of public access and interaction in the context of private residential properties." Keywords: farming villages, towns and villages ,construction and development, residential participation

AbstractTolive well in a world worth living in for all Australians, Aboriginal voices should be central to Australian schooling. This is a radical shift from the current education policy, where Aboriginal-informed knowledge, leadership, and practices are peripheral. Through the lens of the theory of practice architectures, this chapter proposes that Aboriginal leading practices differ from many taken-for-granted Western leadership practices. Aboriginal leading practices—founded on deep listening, reciprocity, and respect are key to creating a world worth living in for all in Australian schools. Our findings are supported by the Aboriginal Voices Project systematic review that discovered that intercultural, collective approaches to leading in schools are more effective than transformational leadership models, bringing shared power and authority through trusting collaborations with local Aboriginal communities. The Culturally Nourishing Schooling Project, emerging from this research, prioritises relationship-building practices grounded in Aboriginal community-led practices that support cultural identity, curriculum, pedagogy, and whole-school reform.

AbstractPeople seeking asylum in Australia remain subject to restrictive policies and punitive government practices, constraining their opportunities to live well. In this chapter, I focus on conversations that took place within the early stages of a critical participatory action research (CPAR) project involving members of the asylum-seeker owned Hope Co-operative. I posit a hybrid theoretical lens locating human subjectivity and agency in practice, layering the theory of practice architectures, Stetsenko’s transformative activist stance, and Emirbayer and Mische’s temporally embedded agency with past, future, and present orientations. Drawing on conversations between eight Hope Co-Operative asylum-seeking members and me, I trace some of these conversations’ cultural-discursive, material-economic, and social-political arrangements. I identify three types of talking—mapping solidarities, reminiscing and talking-up—and discuss these particular types of talking as agentic narrative practice comprising people’s mutual becoming. The study speaks to how particular relational arrangements and types of talking might counter systemic exclusion of people seeking asylum through the inherent radical agency of iterative and dialogic self- and world-making in practice.

Chapter 7 addresses the general problem of the hero, who is at once an individual and a representative of the collective. Multiculturalism deepens the issue. I introduce Hannah Arendt’s concept of public action to reconcile the tension between difference and sameness in a way that is especially relevant to sports. Unique in their body but situated by universal rules, the athlete may represent others without forfeiting individuality. Befitting that principle, Michael Mann’s grandiose biopic Ali portrays the “people’s champion” without relying on speech. Elaborate montage sequences situate the uncharacteristically quiet Ali, played by Will Smith, while memorializing his characteristic boxing style. The film also envisions the United States’ global leadership anew through Ali as an icon for minority struggle and liberation from an imperialistic establishment. Yet the drama’s cartoonish villains evacuate faith in the civic institutions that the project of democracy demands.

Abstract Muhammad Ali did pronounce himself the “Greatest.” However, he had trouble seeing himself as an intellectual. Ali was acutely aware of how limited his formal education was. Islam came to Ali’s rescue. There are only two requirements for the status of Islamic intellectual. The “caller” to Islam must love Islam and have the communication skills to convey the reasons for that love to others. Ali radiated a profound passion for his adopted faith. He also had mastery of an inventive language all his own to project that love and deflect the racism he faced. Islamic scholars welcomed Ali into their ranks. Even more moving to Ali himself was the way impoverished masses in the poorest of Islamic lands rushed to greet “their hero.” Muhammad Ali’s most compelling story was his lifelong spiritual journey. What made Muhammad Ali distinct was the fact that he waged his moral and intellectual struggles for self-realization as a Muslim on a global stage with a worldwide audience of millions.

Abstract As soon as the American Law Institute’s (ALI’s) “Restatements” of law began to appear in the 1930s, they came under attack from Legal Realists, a new school of skeptical critics of the utility of legal rules to predict legal outcomes. Although the Restatements’ authors were themselves moderate Progressives and law reformers, their product took the form of dogmatic black-letter rules. Realists complained that the Restatements waffled between stating law as it was and as it should be, and, because they ignored social contexts, particular facts, and functional purposes, were without practical value to scholars and practitioners. The ALI could not have accommodated the most radical Realist critiques, but in fact did accommodate and absorb many of the Realist perspectives in its later Restatement projects.

Abstract This chapter argues that the American Law Institute Principles of the Law of Family Dissolution intervened in cutting-edge issues at a time of flux in family law and elaborated a progressive agenda that gained traction in the years after the Principles’ publication. Beginning from the assumption that family law should reflect how people actually live, the Reporters developed a functional, rather than formal, approach to legal regulation. Such an approach, they believed, could vindicate commitments to equality and advance goals of predictability, consistency, and fairness. The chapter shows how concerns with intra-family inequality—particularly gender-differentiated roles in different-sex couples—and interfamily inequality—particularly marital-status distinctions that dovetailed with the exclusion of same-sex couples—led the Reporters to articulate generally applicable principles capable of accommodating families’ lived experiences. Explicit adoption of the Principles’ recommendations by courts and legislatures has been rare. Yet, the chapter rejects a view of the Principles as a failed project and instead understands them as a meaningful intervention in ongoing debates among courts, legislatures, advocates, and scholars. In recent decades, the Principles’ functional approach has grown across jurisdictions, spurred in part by efforts to eradicate inequality within and between families. Parentage law has turned to functional criteria to protect parent-child relationships regardless of the gender, sexual orientation, or marital status of the parent. While the Principles’ functional, status-based approach to nonmarital adult relationships remains a distinct minority position among U.S. jurisdictions, that approach continues to serve as a foundational authority in ongoing debates over legal remedies for unmarried partners.

Chapter 2 investigates the corporeal Orientalism envisioned by Swinburne and Beardsley, two Pre-Raphaelite sympathisers who envisioned the East as a sexual dimension inhabited by Oriental female figures such as Scheherazade, Dunyazad, Salome and Bersabe – namely, hur al-ayn – evoking the sensual and pornographic content of the Arabian Nights. Both Swinburne and Beardsley exalted Sir Richard F. Burton and his uncensored translation of the Arabian Nights, which aimed to reveal the erotic customs of the Muslims. On the one hand, Swinburne’s cognitive grammar reveals the use of binary world-builders (West and East) attesting to the superiority of the East, as exemplified by his poems dedicated to Burton and The Masque of Queen Bersabe. On the other hand, Beardsley’s conceptual metaphor East is sexual freedom is projected on to his grotesque pen-and-ink illustrations of Salome and Ali Baba and on to his Oriental poems (‘The Ballad of a Barber’ (1896) and Under the Hill) by blending together the sacred and the profane, the Middle East and the Far East. His radical mode of repatterning old Oriental schemas into new ones is aimed at desacralising the Orient and, in a way, at (de)Orientalising Western and Eastern schemas.

Abstract This chapter recounts the American Law Institute’s (ALI’s) history in its formative era (1923–1945), drawing from archival sources to deepen existing accounts of the ALI’s self-definition as an ongoing institution. The history is more complex than it appears in prior accounts because institutional necessities—including funding—as well as multiple contingencies shaped both the ALI and its work. Likewise, the ALI’s signal work in this period, the Restatement, departed in significant ways from its original plan. Generating the revenues requisite to its ongoing existence required that the ALI partner with commercial publishers and, at their urging, separately publish Annotations for each Restatement volume linked to pre-Restatement cases in many states. Grants from the Carnegie Corporation of New York (overall totaling around $43 million in today’s dollars) funded the work requisite to the Restatement itself; funding the separate Annotations required support from more varied sources by the 1930s, including New Deal relief programs that could support indigent lawyers. Substantively, if the Restatement represented a rejection of comprehensive legislative codification as a strategy to rationalize and clarify private law, the end of this era is paradoxical because the ALI emerged as a prominent champion of codification via the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). Going forward, in addition to a solid financial footing, the ALI’s work required “matters of first importance” to sustain its members’ engagement and justify itself as an ongoing institution, exemplified by the UCC project.

Abstract As part of Berri Crude Increment Project, 40 MBD of Hydrocarbons (HC) Condensate will be separated in the new associated gas gathering system of Abu Ali oil producing facility. The condensate will be collected and exported via a 70 km pipeline. The extent and impact of water presence in the condensate was thoroughly evaluated during the FEED stage of the project, as it is common among similar oil and gas processing plants, and contributed to difficulties — for downstream pipelines and receiving facilities, especially at turndown operations — with such problems as corrosion, solids deposition, sludging and hydrate formation. The objective is to develop a robust and cost-effective process designed to tackle this challenge and ensure production reliability. The team evaluated several options to resolve this design challenge, including the following mitigations: Chemical injection of hydrates and corrosion inhibitors in the export condensate pipelineInstallation of liquid/liquid coalescers to filter the export condensatesInstallation of a condensate stripping system at Abu Ali to boil waterRelocating the TEG system to upstream all condensate removal drums in the gas plant to ensure collecting only "dry" condensate to the export condensate drum.Installation of a liquid dehydration package for the export condensates. The package mainly includes a molecular sieve and solid desiccant adsorption beds. A combination of three options were selected for the design of the Abu Ali export condensate system. Free water removal by liquid/liquid coalescer with full redundancy to improve the efficiency of the molecular sieve.Dissolved water removal by liquid dehydration package.Backup methanol injection and corrosion inhibitor for emergency operations. This new process design has some unique aspects that are worth of highlighting, such as: The first installation of its kind in Saudi Aramco upstream facilities for raw hydrocarbon condensate. The first installation of a molecular sieve dehydration process for sour condensate in Saudi Aramco.

Objective The objective is to showcase the Abu Ali facility's commitment to protecting and preserving the Abu Ali biodiversity ecosystem. The project demonstrates a modern sustainable, circular, innovative and systemic approach to target the biodiversity threats in multi-dimensional aspects and transform these threats into opportunities to improve the island's ecosystem. The island is important to Aramco's upstream operations because it houses an oil and gas production facility. The organization has determined its environmental goals from the corporate policies and vision to be as follows. Contribute to reaching the company's and the kingdom's vision for being a net zero-carbon operating facility by 2050 and 2060, respectively, by reducing and offsetting greenhouse gases' impact on climate. Support the Saudi Green Initiative by planting mangroves and trees in the Abu Ali Island and seeking for sourcing out the mangrove seeds to other entities. Align and adapt with carbon circular economy (CCE) approaches in reusing/repairing/recycling wasted materials and resources turning them into valuable products. Protect, preserve and enhance the Abu Ali biodiversity area to create an integrated ecosystem for wildlife, marine life, and birds. Be recognized at the corporate, nationally, and internationally as a role model in environmental protection stewardship. Background North of Jubail, a city in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, close to a large offshore oil field, sits Abu Ali Island. There are two large islands in the archipelago which are potentially preservational. The larger one is Abu Ali Island located to the north and the southern one is called Al Batinah Island. Abu Ali Island is a unique isolated island with one of the most diversified habitats in the Arabian Gulf, a home for a variety of creatures, and Aramco's oil and gas operational area. Aramco has designated Abu Ali Island as the country's first and biggest biodiversity stewardship island. The island is a sabkha semi-dry grassland. The coral reefs that encircle Abu Ali Island were formed naturally, making it an excellent habitat for marine life. The island's ecological and biological systems benefit from the variety of marine life. Birds nest on the island, turtles lay eggs, and foxes hunt for food. Abu Ali Island is on birds' migratory paths, and the island has become a resting area during migratory seasons. Furthermore, Abu Ali Island has been a fishing harbor for local fishermen for decades. Wildlife Habitat Mammals, reptiles, and rodents are just a few of the many biological species found on Abu Ali Island. Numerous other species, including the Cerastes Gasperettii/Arabian horned viper "Um Jounab" and the Arabian Red Fox, were also commonly observed on the island. The island is covered with vegetation, including native plants, cultivated trees, and herbs such as Ziziphus spina-christi "Sidir," Rhanterium epapposum "Arfaj," and Zygophyllum qatarense. Migratory Birds The island is situated in one of the main flyways of migratory birds that travel seasonally from Siberia & Eastern Europe to Africa. The migratory birds settle down for a couple of days/weeks to take a rest and food supply, then continue their long journey. The following migratory bird species have been spotted at Abu Ali Island: Black-necked Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Black Kite, Slender-billed Gull, Greater Flamingo, Western Reef-egret, Lesser Crested Tern, White-cheeked Tern, Saunders's Tern, Little Tern, Grey Plover, Lesser Sandplover, Greater Sandplover, Kentish Plover, Bar-tailed Godwit, Whimbrel, Eurasian Curlew, Dunlin, Terek Sandpiper, Common Redshank, Common Greenshank, Ruddy Turnstone, Eurasian Oystercatcher, Crab-plover and Osprey. Marine Life Abu Ali Island is a territory of a critically endangered creature, the Hawksbill sea turtle. The turtles travel to various sites in the Arabian Gulf and lay their eggs on an island like Abu Ali Island during the year's roosting season. Besides that, coral reefs, seagrass, and mangroves thrive around Abu Ali Island creating attractive habitats for fishes and other organisms to reproduce and enrich marine life.

Abstract The objective of this environmental initiative is to utilize dredged sand material for the development of artificial islands near Abu Ali Island, Eastern Province, Saudi Arabia. The aim is to reduce the environmental impact of the dredging process and create a sustainable solution for the disposal of the dredged materials. The project demonstrates a modern, sustainable and circular economy approach to target the biodiversity threats in multi-dimensional aspects and transform these threats into opportunities to improve Abu Ali Island's ecosystem. The analytical approach consists of following methodology: Identify the total quantity of sand waste generation during the dredging operation. Evaluate and identify potential waste storage facility as the laydown area on the island to temporarily store the waste. Calculate number of trucks required to transport the waste out of the area. Conduct site verification to identify potential waste disposal areas or find an alternative solution to utilize the waste material. Coordinate with corporate entities and project groups to obtain approval for proposed waste reuse solution. The reuse of dredged sand material for the development of artificial islands has several positive environmental impacts. First, it helps reduce the amount of dredged material (1.5MM m3) that needs to be disposed of in offshore locations or on landfills, which can cause harm to marine life and ecosystems. Second, it creates a new habitat for marine organisms and promotes biodiversity. In addition, it will eliminate the transportation cost (150,000 trucks) and associated traffic hazards if the material is transported outside the island. Finally, it promotes sustainable development by reducing the environmental impact of human activities on the natural environment. The implementation of this unique innovative approach at Abu Ali Island Corporate Biodiversity Area demonstrates a lead-by-example role in the environmental aspects. The corporate commitment as a global oil and gas producer toward the environment was clearly illustrated in this initiative. Building a circular environmental culture that contributes to combat climate change, sustainably falls under the company's corporate strategies. The development of artificial islands is not a new concept, but the use of dredged sand material is a sustainable and circular solution. The approach can also be proposed for the redevelopment of urban waterfront areas, where dredging is a common practice to maintain shipping channels. This environmental initiative is a win-win solution that can benefit both the environment and human development.

Near the city of Dubai a gas turbine and desalination station is presently being commissioned and has already partly been taken over by the client. This project has been carried out within 34 months from the award of the order to the acceptance by the client by an international consortium. Upon its completion the plant will produce 60 million gallons of drinking water per day and will have an electric capacity of 457 MW. The paper presents the technical concept of steam generators of relatively big capacity and very low steam pressures for the production of saturated steam for two designs, i.e. an oil and gas fired self-supporting steam generator and a waste heat recovery boiler behind a gas turbine including a very powerful supplementary firing system.

Artificial intelligence is anticipated to reduce design project development times, enhance our understanding of user experience, and be instrumental in stimulating radical socio-technological changes for the second half of the 21st century. The aim of this paper is to propose typologies of physical workspaces to improve the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in design practice. This paper examines how physical workspaces were used to support designers engaging in variable creative workflow that integrates generative AI. The research critically investigates and analyzes how physical and virtual spaces (studio working spaces and virtual platforms) were used to generate a functional environment in which create speculative phenomenal experiences through AI visualizations (Vizcom and Midjourney). The space configurations, during a series of pre-structured activities, are seen to better support the designers’ productivity and increase social collaboration and interaction through the arrangement of a range of interior spaces.

Looking across the art-science nexus, the contribution discovers an emerging symbiotic mutualism that goes against mere inter-species tolerance of the posthuman perspective. This new understanding of symbiosis may be described as a transaction, both physical or factual in scientific terms, and arguably symbolical in the artistic sense. Therefore, different combinations of art-science and human-tree relationships shall be revealed along the treatment of one primary and four secondary cases of sciartistic practice, all revolving around trees as oldest, biggest, most globally spread life forms, still quite foreign to humans. Taming the Forest is an ongoing interdisciplinary project, chartering a cross field among bioeconomy, cultural history, policy, and art(ivism). In the context of this paper, it acts as the case for researching the conflicting narratives of history and economy about biodiversity in general, and specifically on forests that represent a most massive entity of manifold exchange, and thus a field of inevitable symbiosis with humans (as well). The contribution further shows how different blends of methodologies in artistic-cum-scientific research can become truly relevant for both of their respective realms, opening new creative pathways that combine radical thinking and post-human research formats, embedded into critical use of technologies.

This paper discusses the radical change of the role of the public sector in the financing of infrastructure projects during the nineties. The generalized response to the new environment has taken the form of arrangements in which private initiative is empowered to construct and finance the projects, retaining their ownership temporarily. These arrangements, which are referred to as Build-Lease-Transfer (BLT) and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT), respectively, have proved to be an efficient approach to develop infrastructure that the public sector by itself could not undertake. The authors argue that a generalized use of BOT schemes, whose main characteristic is the concentration of all responsibilities (building, management and financing) in a unique private agent (or a joint venture of private agents), could be challenged on the grounds that the unbundling of these responsibilities is a more efficient alternative.

The Elastic Wave (EW) technology has a proven record of detecting longitudinal cracking in gas and liquid pipelines. Prior to the initiation of this project, the technology had been based on a 36" pipe diameter with conversion kits covering 30", 32" and 34". Bend passing capability was 3D back to back, changing to 5D on the 30" build. To extend the technology over a greater range of pipe diameters and to incorporate 1.5D bend-passing capability on the smaller sizes required a radical re-design of the whole system. The brief of this project was to design a system capable of operating over the size range from 20" to 48", to produce a mechanical arrangement that enabled 1.5D bend passing on the 24" to 30", and to provide built-in gas by-pass capability for all sizes from 24"to 48". The project has been completed. Designs have been schemed for 20"to 48". A 24" 1.5D tool and a 36" 3D tool have been designed, manufactured and tested. The mechanical integrity and defect detection capabilities of both vehicles have been proven. Seven commercial inspection operations were successfully completed in 2000, collecting a total 572.8km (355.9 miles) of EW data.

Antioxidant activity of fruits is gaining wide interest among consumers due to its importance in counteracting oxidative stress, free radicals and preventing DNA damage. Oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) assay is one of the commonly used assays to measure the antioxidant activity, which is based on hydrogen atom transfer mechanism. Furocoumarins present in grapefruit are reported to have antiproliferative activity, induce GST activity, inhibit biofilm formation and increase bioavailability of drugs. In the present project ORAC values were measured of Star Ruby grapefruit undergone ethylene degreening treatment, cold storage and temperature conditioning treatment, and modified atmosphere packaging which were stored at different temperatures for prolonged period. In addition, furocoumarins were quantified in Star Ruby grapefruits from cold storage and conditioning experiment conducted in Israel. Conditioning treatment is practiced prior cold storage to reduce chilling injury in grapefruits during cold storage for prolonged period. Levels of 6,7-dihyrdoxy bergamottin decreased during storage period in all three treatments.
