Many people think that Punk is a deviant behavior, a nuisance, synonymous with violence, a free lifestyle, closely related to drugs, free sex, thuggery, and so on which gives a negative stigma. In addition, there are also those who join the punk community because of the condition of a broken home family, The role of the family is very important in shaping a child's personality. Then the socio-cultural conditions and the condition of a superficial understanding of religion in a person can also influence it.

The media raises our children and form an important part of their daily lives. It is impossible to imagine life without the presence of the media. They are the main source of information, content, and topics on upbringing, education, culture, politics, and entertainment. The media are socializing agent which impact on society, children and youth is significant. Accordingly, there should be a greater social intention for media education and training. The role of media education in our schools is still underused, often marginalized and sometimes misunderstood by both teachers, preschool teachers, children and young people. The number of media, internet users and profiles and social networks is growing every day, as evidenced by numerous studies, but there is not enough education for the media nor education for critical thinking. Therefore, in this paper we tried to explore the media habits of children and youth in the local community, with special reference to the time that they spent on the Internet, mostly on social networks, and whether the time spent affected their daily interactions with the environment, friends, family and, at the end of the day, their succes in school. We where interested in how much they used social network, at what age they created their profiles, and how free they felt in providing information about themselves and others through the media. According to the results, children create their profiles on social networks at a very early stage, even when they are not ready or educated for it. In addition, children are very open to the virtual world of communication with the people they do not know in real life, even to meet strangers without being aware of possible manipulation, false profiles, violence and the like. There is a clear awareness among most respondents about the need for media education, regardless of the difference in the amount of time that they spend on social networks, as well as a clearly articulated stand on the need to introduce media education as part of compulsory education in schools.

The purpose of this study is to determine the level of religious intensity of punk groups in West Java and their attachment and how the influence of punk religious intensity on the decline in their group attachment. This research uses a correlational approach that aims to detect the extent to which variations in a factor are related to variations in one or more other factors. After data processing, the results showed that 13% of punk children have a high intensity of religiosity, 43% are moderate and 44% are low. Regarding the level of attachment to the punk community, the results showed that 35% were categorized as high, 49% were moderate, and 16% were low. This means that 65% of punk children experience attachment to their community. This study shows that there is a strong correlation between religious intensity and disengagement in the punk community with a correlation coefficient of 0.745. This strong correlation implies a corrective effect of religion on the level of social deviance. This research also shows that the most effective da'wah to overcome social deviation is with the targhîb approach in the form of amar ma'ruf which is persuasive compared to the tarhîb approach in the form of nahyi munkar which tends to be repressive.

Religious moderation is one of the keys to creating tolerance and harmony. In a multicultural society like Indonesia, which has the largest Muslim population in the world, religious moderation is important. Religious moderation strives so that religious people are expected to treat others well, accept differences, and live together in peace and harmony. However, religious moderation in Islam is still lacking and there is a low sense of tolerance in society. One of them is that punk children are always underestimated when carrying out worship. Not only that. when they do good they are always suspected and underestimated. Therefore, the research method used is field research with a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects in this study, namely the founder of Underground Tasawuf, namely Ustad Halim Ambiya, punk children, and street children who have settled in Underground Tasawuf. DesignNon-randomised non-blinded school-based intervention study.SettingTwo schools in the cities of Pune and Nasik, India.ParticipantsThe intervention group comprised children attending a Pune school from 7–10 years until 12–15 years of age. Two control groups comprised children of the same age attending a similar school in Nasik, and children in the Pune intervention school but aged 12–15 years at the start of the study.InterventionA 5-year multi-intervention programme, covering three domains: physical activity, diet and general health, and including increased extracurricular and intracurricular physical activity sessions; daily yoga-based breathing exercises; making physical activity a ‘scoring’ subject; nutrition education; healthier school meals; removal of fast-food hawkers from the school environs; and health and nutrition education for teachers, pupils and families.Main outcome measuresBody mass index (BMI), waist circumference, physical fitness according to simple tests of strength, flexibility and endurance; diet; and lifestyle indicators (time watching TV, studying and actively playing).ResultsAfter 5 years the intervention children were fitter than controls in running, long jump, sit-up and push-up tests (p<0.05 for all). They reported spending less time sedentary (watching TV and studying), more time actively playing and eating fruit more often (p<0.05). The intervention did not reduce BMI or the prevalence of overweight/obesity, but waist circumference was lower than in the Pune controls (p=0.004).ConclusionsIt was possible to achieve multiple health-promoting changes in an academically competitive Indian school. These changes resulted in improved physical fitness, but had no impact on the children's BMI or on the prevalence of overweight/obesity.

This phenomenon of street children in Jambi clearly proves a fact that the rights of children are not fulfilled by parents, society, or country. On the other hand, the variety and types of unofficial professions and occupational sectors in the city make city life more diverse from the angle of the types of jobs available. This is one of the factors that makes each individual including the children who attend school even interested in making a living, and the more unique case is in cities, the type of pecerajan for the age of adolescence is also widely available. This is why street children are more common in the city than in the village. If carefully observed, the point where street children gather is very dangerous. In addition to disturbing the order and comfort of others, it can also harm itself and provide opportunities for acts of violence. Even street children themselves have the potential to become criminous such as compressing their friends or other weaker individuals, petty theft, and the use of even trafficking drugs that are classified as substances that are harmful to health. To approach this issue, researchers used a qualitative paradigm from a criminal perspective. The findings of the data search results in the field are obtained as follows: (1) The causative factor of the number of street children in Jambi city is due to the unmet physical and psychic needs of the child, then, because of the personal desire of the street children themselves and environmental factors. (2) The impact of criminal problems that can lead to criminal acts from the appearance of street children are: the emergence of new social problems, disruption of city order, and threatening the safety and security of the citizens of the surrounding communities.

SUMMARYA 2-year study from January 1981 to December 1982 was undertaken to determine the role of viruses in the causation of diarrhoea in hospitalized children in Pune, Maharashtra State, India. The stool samples of 426 children (213 diarrhoeal and 213 non-diarrhoeal controls) were investigated by electron microscopy and ELISA for the presence of viruses. Six morphologically distinct viruses were visualized: rotavirus, coronavirus-like particles (CVLP), adenovirus, astrovirus, calicivirus and small round virus-like particles (SRV). Rotavirus was detected in 28·6% of the diarrhoea! patients and in 1·4 % of the controls. The frequency of infection with rotavirus was highest in the children aged less than 5 years. The mean age of rotavirus-positive patients was 11 months. Although rotavirus was detected in almost every month, there has a seasonal trend for colder months when CVLP cases were fewest. However, the prevalence of CVLP was greater in the control group (23–0%) rather than in those with diarrhoea (8–9%). In the control group, CVLP were detected more frequently during the summer months. An inverse relationship between CVLP and rotavirus was observed in children. Adenovirus, astrovirus, calicivirus and SRV were detected in a small proportion of children with and without clinical symptoms of gastroenteritis.

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of hijrah in marginal communities, especially the underground Sufism community. This community is very concerned about the fate of Punk children around Jabodetabek. On this basis, the researcher was moved to conduct research on the meaning of 'hijrah' for the Punk children of the Underground Tasawuf Community. This research uses the phenomenological method in examining the theme of this discussion. The results of this study indicate that there are two motives for hijrah, first; awareness for wrong behavior and family motives. Meanwhile, hijrah means moving to the sea of knowledge, changing attitudes and improving the quality of worship, cleaning up from heart disease, forgiving and being devoted to parents.

Background: Incidence of pulmonary diseases in urban children is on the rise. Peak expiratory flow rate, a component of pulmonary function tests, is a useful measure for initial pulmonary assessment. It is easily implementable on large population due to its simplicity. Studies presenting such data for Indian children are severely lacking, as PEFR is anthropometric, population and region specific. The present study aimed to establish an equation for predicting PEFR in urban children in Pune city in western Maharashtra, India. Methods: The cross-sectional study was done in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Children from different schools were selected by cluster sampling. The number of participants screened was 2100 of which 1760 were selected. Best of three readings of PEFR was recorded for each child using an EU Scale Peak Flow meter (Breath-O meter, Cipla). Anthropometric data like height, weight, chest expansion, waist/hip ratio were measured and BMI was calculated along with PEFR of each child. Results: Out of the 1760 children included in the study 933 (53%) were boys and 827 (47%) were girls. The stepwise regression analyses were carried out using age, height, weight and waist/hip ratio as predictor variables. Conclusions: Final regression equation was derived using height. Approximately 80% of the data was used for prediction of regression equation and remaining 20% data was used as a control group to validate the derived equation. The regression equation formulated shall offer a predicted PEFR value as guideline for healthcare workers in Pune city, Maharashtra, India.

This study aimed to evaluate the reliability of a manipulative eye–segmental (hand and foot) coordination task, namely the Wall Drop Punt Kick and Catch test (WDPK&C), over two weeks. Forty-one children and adolescents (18 boys, 23 girls) with a mean age of 10.2 (SD = 1.62) years old were recruited for assessment. Subjects had 30 s to perform as many ball impacts as possible on a wall two meters away, following a drop punt kick, rebound on the wall, and catch sequence. The Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC = 0.896) for unique measures, Cronbach Alpha (α = 0.945), and Lin’s Concordance Correlation Coefficient (CCC = 0.896) provide evidence of reliability considering two consecutive measurements. These results further support the reliability of the WDPK&C test in a sample of Portuguese children and adolescents. Thus, the WDPK&C test can be applied to Portuguese boy and girl children and adolescents. Forthcoming studies should test the reliability of this test across different age groups since it is intended to be a test with a wide lifespan coverage.

Writing this article aims to provide an explanation regarding the background of the importance of education in the application of technology to face the era of Societ 5.0 which implements morals in marginalized children. The role of technology on the morals of marginalized communities where the subjects are marginalized children who have various backgrounds. Marginal children are some of the children who are teenagers to adults where they live freely without any strict assistance from their parents, it is not surprising that we often see many punk children on the edge of the highway. Punk children are also part of marginalized children. Whoever and wherever the children are, they all still need education. Education which they can get from non-formal institutions. Because they also know the position they live in today where they know that life is in an era that continues to grow and is getting louder and louder. However, their enthusiasm in seeking knowledge and identity in life is not vulnerable. We can know that not all marginal children are naughty but there are still many marginal children who are moral and still want to learn a lot of knowledge, especially religious knowledge. They also often apply alkhlaq in their daily life, although most likely most of them look scary and scary. Regarding the information that we have obtained, we use data collection obtained through observation in which marginalized communities also have the right to be good so that in the future marginal communities will be able to be in their environment and be able to convey the goodness they have received and the development of the era of society 5.0. can adapt well.

Every year, the city of Pune attracts migrant workers due to urbanization, and these migrants form residential pockets called slums. Today, around 40% of Pune’s population lives in urban slums, around 11% of children, who have little or no access to education with the everyday hand-to-mouth struggle for survival. This study explores the lives of slum children and their educational conditions. Three case studies were conducted with three slums from uptown areas of Pune. Focus group discussions, interviews, and visual survey methods were employed, leading to qualitative analysis. Analysis threw light on the everyday challenges faced by slum children in accessing education. The visual studies imply the need for architectural intervention. The findings also suggest policy implications towards the provision of education towards the betterment of the lives of slum children. Working and learning are the two social processes; without breaking the legal structures on child labor, children working within the home as domestic labor or in the household enterprise is a common occurrence in urban centers, particularly among those who are household income is derived from the informal sector and who have lower income levels. Working modes and times differ depending on the situation. Owing to the size of India’s informal economy and attempts to reduce child labor trafficking, a strong emphasis has been placed on developing and implementing social policies that address child labor.

AbstractUsing participants’ reactions to puns (words or phrases with two or more possible meanings) embedded in hypothetical scenarios, we investigated how perceptions of punning are influenced by characteristics of both the social situation and the punster. Consistent with the reversal theory of humor, Study 1 (N=185) showed that puns are considered funnier and more appropriate in playful than serious situations and less appropriate when they interrupt conversation than when they complete a conversation sequence without causing an interruption. Consistent with age-based developmental expectations of punsters, Study 2 (N=333) indicated that obvious puns told by children are perceived more favorably than those told by adults of varying ages and levels of expertise in the subject area of the pun. Future research might benefit from using more naturalistic settings and examining the extent to which various contemporary humor frameworks (e.g. benign violations theory) apply more specifically to punning in context.

This hybrid research article/three-act play introduces what the author calls “transfeminism for children”—both its practices and its makers—as material for art-based research, criticism, and pedagogy in queer- and trans-affirming childhood studies. It stages three contemporary acts of transfeminism for children to consider how girl friendships refuse cis-normative knowing in favour of making girlhood possible for feminine boys and trans girls: Act 1, a 2018 painting by punk artist and writer Sybil Lamb; Act 2, a 2015 children’s novel by writer Alex Gino; and Act 3, a poem by junior high school student Averi Laskey featured in the 2013 documentary Valentine Road. In these performances, cis and trans women and children share the space, time, and feeling of girlhood without its inhospitable racism, biological essentialism, and bourgeois politics of respectability and with the promise of its re-enchantment in transfeminist sorority. It is the work of the following three acts of transfeminism for children to further evidence this claim.

Background: Diet and nutrition of children influence their current health status and scholastic performance and also have long term consequences reaching well into their adulthood. Further, diet preferences and practices acquired during childhood usually persist for life. Data on nutritional intake of school children is required by public health policy makers to be able to formulate nutritional intervention and also for nutritionists and general practioners to be able to advice parents and care givers regarding the inadequacies in the diet. This study was carried out in Pune city, to study the dietary patterns and preferences of school children in the age group five to eleven years. Methods: Qualitative diet survey was carried out by oral questionnaire method. The data collected was on the food habits, frequency of various types of food eaten and the preferences/dislike to various food items. A database was created in MS Excel and Epi Info was used to analyze data. Appropriate inferential and descriptive statistics were calculated. Results: Around 50% of the children were non-vegetarians and only around 6% were vegetarians. Around 70% of children consumed milk daily though a majority insisted that milk is their least preferred food item. Only 5% children consumed green leafy vegetables daily. A majority of children consumed fruits two to six times. Snacks, fast food and processed food were the most preferred food by the children. Conclusions: Food habits acquired during childhood persist into adulthood and form the basis of either good health or ill health, as the case may be, in the coming years. Hence there is a need to educate parents, especially in the middle and higher socioeconomic groups regarding correct dietary habits for the children to ensure that they can live healthy and productive lives as adults.

Setting.Contact tracing is broadly encouraged for tuberculosis (TB) control. In many high-burden countries, however, little effort is made to identify contacts of newly diagnosed TB patients. This failure puts children, many of whom live in poor crowded communities, at special risk.Objectives.To perform source-case investigations for 50 pediatric TB cases in Pune, India.Design.A descriptive cross-sectional observational study of pediatric TB cases < 5 years of age. Information was collected about the index case and household contacts.Results.In 15 (30%) of the 50 pediatric index cases, the household contained known TB contacts, 14 (86%) of whom were adults. Prior to their own diagnosis of TB, only one of the 15 pediatric index cases who met criteria for isoniazid preventive therapy received it. The index cases with known household TB contacts had a longer delay in initiating TB treatment than those without TB contacts (17.5 versus 2 days;P=0.03). Use of contact tracing identified 14 additional household TB suspects, 8 (57%) of whom were children.Conclusions.This study identified missed opportunities for TB prevention, as contact tracing is poorly implemented in resource-limited countries, like India. Further strategies to improve the implementation of TB prevention, especially in young children, are urgently needed.

SUMMARYFaecal specimens collected from 2101 patients with acute gastroenteritis from three cities (Pune, Alappuzha, Belgaum) in India during 1994–1995 and 2004–2010 were tested for group B rotavirus (RVB) by amplification of theNSP2gene using RT–PCR. Seventy-five (3·6%) specimens were shown to contain RVB RNA. The positivity rate in Pune, Alappuzha and Belgaum was 4·1%, 7·3% and 4·1%, respectively, in the 2000s which was not significantly different from the detection rate in the 1990s in Pune (2·5%,P>0·05). RVB infections prevailed in adolescents and adults (62/1082, 5·7%) compared to children (13/1019, 1·3%,P<0·001) and were detected throughout the year. Phylogenetically, all strains clustered in an NSP2 lineage together with Indian-Bangladeshi RVB strains belonging to VP7 genotype G2. The study confirmed the occurrence of RVB infections in western India and reported for the first time circulation of RVB strains in southern India, suggesting that an increased awareness and monitoring for RVB infections is necessary in India.

This article discusses the communication strategy of the Tasawuf Underground community in da’wah to the punk community. The researcher analyzed the data collected through observation and in-depth interviews with key informants who retained da’wah experience in the Tasawuf Underground community. This study indicates that to preach to the Tasawuf Underground community, a preacher needs to have four things: a) source credibility; in this case, a preacher should have the charisma to influence the audience. b) the introduction of the “road map to home” is a term to invite punk children to study religious knowledge as a provision to return to the afterlife. c) effective communication between da’i and mad’u uses several media, mainly: social media, mass communication media, and interpersonal communication media. d) The message of da’wah is carried out in an informative and persuasive manner; an atmosphere of friendship and kinship is built between the audience and the communicator so that intimacy transpires. They built a communication strategy that resulted in changes in attitudes, actions, and improvements in the punk community members’ quality of life. Credible communicators, understanding audiences, choosing the suitable media and messages, and da’wah messages conveyed in a friendly and familial manner make communicators or preachers competent to influence the punk community in Tebet to return to the path of God and family.

This article aims to describe street children Punk in the life patterns of the people of Medan City. Medan city is one of the things that cannot be separated from the life pattern of street singers. This means that the life of street singers has become part of the overall life of the people of Medan City. Don't know who started it, now there are so many Punk communities scattered at the crossroads, living in groups while busking. Their identity is very different from other street singers, both in terms of clothes, hairstyles and body piercing as well as tattoos on several parts of the body. All things that are very different from the identity of the other buskers whose taste is also piling up. What makes the other street singers the same is that their songs and music are no different, which are trending and melancholy. They also use the media of music to create space for themselves to speak out. Music is used as a tool to empower himself. Apart from looking for food, playing music is also a tool to build solidarity. On certain occasions they played music together. So, you could say, young people in Medan who are singing on the streets and wearing all-Punk make-up in Indonesia are very likely inspired by something very different from their predecessor Punk generation in their home country.

Introduction: Safety monitoring of vaccines used in routine programmes on immunization is important in all settings. There is a lot of debate in the country about the relevance of the pentavalent vaccine in general and the Hib component in particular, in view of reports of deaths in children following immunization. This study was conducted to evaluate the incidence and profile of AEFI in children receiving pentavalent vaccine. Methods: A cohort study was conducted between May to Oct 2012, in a tertiary care hospital, Pune. Exposed groups received pentavalent vaccine, while the control received DPT or DPT + Hep B. Both the groups were followed up telephonically after 24 hr, 48 hr, 72 hr and 7 days following vaccination. 175 children in both groups were studied. Convenient sampling was done recruiting consecutive vaccinees till the sample size was achieved. Frequency, percentage, mean difference (T test) and chi square test was used to find associationResults: 100 % children were institutional delivery. In controls, 80 % received DPT and Hep B, rest received only DPT. Fever was present in 76.2 % among exposed and 26.7% among non-exposed. Presence of fever after 1 day following immunization was significantly associated with exposed group (P=0.003). In 19 % exposed group fever continued for 2nd day. Other side effects included swelling (4.8 %) and reduced appetite (4.8 %) among exposed. Conclusion: Pentavalent vaccine does not increase the probability of deaths among the vaccines vis-a-vis nor receivers. The profile of AEFI among both the groups, except fever, is similar as far as frequency and severity is concerned.

AbstractObjectiveTo assess the nutritional status of the Andean population of Puna and Quebrada of Humahuaca, Jujuy, using anthropometric measurements.Design and subjectsA cross-sectional nutritional survey was carried out in a representative sample (n = 1236) of individuals from these regions. Children aged 2–9 years, adolescents (10–17 years) and adults (≥18 years; pregnant and lactating women excluded) were considered. Height-for-age, weight-for-height and body mass index (BMI) were calculated in children and adolescents and compared with World Health Organization/National Center for Health Statistics/Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reference standards using Z-scores or percentiles, in order to assess the prevalence of stunting, wasting/thinness and excess weight. In adults, BMI, waist circumference (WC) and waist-to-hip (WHR) ratio were used to identify obesity and central adiposity.ResultsStunting (height-for-age Z-score <–2 standard deviations) and obesity (BMI ≥ 95th percentile) were found to be major nutritional problems in children and adolescents. Stunting was prevalent in 10.7% of children and 12.4% of adolescents; 8.2% of children and 3.5% of adolescents were obese. Adults were short (mean: 155.8 cm) and values of overweight (32.3%), obesity (18.3%) and central adiposity (mean WC: 86.5 cm) were high. Older adults and those with higher economic development showed higher prevalence of obesity and central adiposity.ConclusionsThe present population may be at the early stages of nutritional transition as symptoms of undernutrition and overnutrition coexist at the population level. These results suggest that rates of growth retardation may be decreasing owing to improved nutritional conditions; however, this could be accompanied by a sharp increase in the prevalence of other diet-related chronic diseases.
