Mots Clés : publicité native, journalisme, analyse de discours, éthique The porousness of the information/advertising division in newsrooms is a recursive topic of debate in the journalism industry. With their distinct logics, the worlds of marketing and journalism are supposed to guard against any mutual influence, as enshrined in ethical codes and charters. But the rise of social media platforms, the fragmentation of the economic model of the news media, the irritation of advertising intrusion, and the ad blocking software are encouraging new overlaps, one being native advertising (NA). The various justifications or criticisms of this controversial technique constitute for us the entry point to analyze the ethics of both journalism and marketing in regard of NA. First, we identify, within the discourse of both marketing and information professionals, the different rationalities surrounding the use or non use of NA. These rationalities are then compared to codes, charters and deontic guides in use. In the end, we argue that the current guides are insufficient to frame the professional upheaval that NA generates, under the force of deep-rooted tensions, now strongly shaken by convergent economical rationalities. This paradox seems to result in the arrival of a new type of professional, the content producer. We open up some avenues to explore this professional transformation further. Keywords: Ethics, deontology, native advertising, marketing, journalism

The majority of scholarship regarding Native Americans and film has focused on the images of Native Americans as constructed by non-Native filmmakers, but how might we better understand the careers of Native people working as actors in studio Hollywood? I propose studying film publicity material to find traces of the labor and negotiations performed by Native actors as they constructed and maintained their personas. Examining both the construction of studio publicity and analyzing the content of publicity regarding Chief Many Treaties (Blackfeet actor William Hazlett), Chief Yowlachie (Yakama actor Daniel Simmons), Chief Big Tree (Seneca actor Isaac Johnny John); and Chief Rolling Cloud (Muscogee [Creek] actor Charles Brunner), I reveal how publicity material can contextualize actors' experiences and suggest ways that these Native performers used their personas to critique and influence their presences onscreen.

AbstractCultural appropriation involves the unauthorized use of elements of another culture (e.g., voice, practices, image or name) to the appropriator's commercial advantage. Cultural appropriation is experienced by some Native American cultures as an attack on their integrity which jeopardizes their very survival. The case of the Hopi Indians of Arizona is examined. The essay goes on to explore and evaluate various recourses which Native American peoples might employ to check the vulgarization and commercialization of their culture—namely the right to privacy, copyright, and the right of publicity. It is concluded that, to maximize cultural preservation, the right of publicity should be deployed.

Due to historical ill-fate, Georgia found itself cut off from European civilization and culture for a long time. The catastrophe caused by the fall of Constantinople in the 15th century placed Georgia under an aggressive Islamic siege, posing a mortal threat to the existence of its nation-state and at the same time cutting the spiritual and cultural arteries that historically connected Georgia with Europe. The process of “re-Europeanization” (Siradze, 2008, p. 213) was first systematically revealed in the Georgian writing of the so-called “transitional century” (the turn of the 18th-19th centuries) and spread in all spheres of life throughout the 19th century. It should be emphasized that for our leaders, Europeanism was essentially not a matter of social-cultural orientation or vector, but the return of Georgian culture to its native bosom, native living and mental space, the restoration of the natural path of development. The 19th century saw great interest in Europe and its literature. The term "Europeanism" has been established since the 1850s. As for the content of the term itself, when defining the essence of Europeanism, we rely mainly on the point of view of Friedrich Nietzsche that Europe, as a term denoting culture, refers to those peoples who have a common past with the Greek and Roman civilizations, in the form of the Bible and Christianity. If we take into account Nietzsche’s definition and compare it with the history of Georgia, it is easy to see that we really have reason to call ourselves Europeans. First of all. The present work is aimed at studying and fully presenting the history of European-Georgian relations; the role and significance of translation, journalism and fiction in bringing Georgia closer to Europe; the turning of the viewpoint of Georgian society towards European ideals and the struggle for the establishment of the cultural traditions of Europeanism.

This study explores how students produce their own mini videos using the target language to share experiences and communicate with native speakers. Multimodality is used as a theoretical approach. Class observations and in-depth interviews were used for data collection, which was analysed by theme. The research results indicate that students deem it the agency of their own learning rather than completing the assignments given by the tutor; they gain more from the discussions among their peers and native speakers than from giving the presentations in class only; watching and making comments on their own videos is visually and mentally stimulating, which triggers more thoughts and expressions. Students appreciate the cooperation among themselves, while they also find it challenging to manage their publicity. This research provides empirical evidence on how to encourage students' initiative to improve language skills and enhance intercultural communication competence, which sheds light on reshaping language and intercultural communication education.

This article retrieves the history of Native American ceremonies to highlight the aboriginal ways of being. Using Leslie Marmon Silko’s Ceremony to retrieve the reality of the ceremonies, I argue how the myths inscribed in Native American contemporary writings are the social and cultural embedment of the ceremonies in which they were written and thus the knowledge of prehistoric times. I focus on Silko’s modern techniques to revive the myths of oral tradition to understand and publicize the truths of Native American ceremonial world. She explains the ceremony of 1955 with reference to the ceremonies incorporated in Laguna myths, thereby juxtaposing two different time periods: the pre-Columbian timelessness and the post-second World War fragmented tribal community in Laguna in 1955. To understand the overlapping of poetic-prose stories I explain the function of ceremony in the prosperity of the Pueblo and assimilate the present in the past and the future.

The interests of Euro-American people who supported assimilation campaigns and participated in heritage tourism converged in Southern California in the early 1900s. The visual culture illustrated in postcards created an alternative sense of place. It was based in Native exploitation that promoted modernization and celebrated assimilation programs. Local promoters, tourists, and new residents displaced Indigenous people from active roles in the cultural heritage. Promoters and tourists used sites imbued with Native life, such as the Sherman Institute and the California missions, to popularize romanticized histories of the region. While intended to be visually pleasing, postcards from Southern California in the late 1800s and early 1900s represented a socially constructed history that ignored the realities of these contested sites. Using appeals to nostalgia to frame superficial narratives of vanishing Native American cultures, boosters created a market for collectors that capitalized on cultural tourism. Together, this visual culture and the physical landscape of many of Southern California’s tourist sites attempted to publicize the success of Native assimilation. This visual culture highlighted the climate of the time, when writers and promoters applauded progress toward Americanization and brought those views to wide audiences.

The issue of school education in the mother tongue, which is part of a wider issue of the rights of national minorities in a civilized society, is still topical in Latvia nowadays. In this respect, the attitude of Latvian publicists towards the education in native language in the second half of the 19th century may be of interest, as they largely articulated the wishes and demands of the people to the ruling regime, when Latvians were struggling to obtain education for their children in their mother tongue opposed to the offi-cial language of the state. Based on the study of Latvian periodicals of the second half of the 19th century, the author con-cludes, that speaking about the use of the mother tongue in schools, Latvian publicists defended both na-tional and classical liberal values. It was found that their arguments about the need for a consistent use of the mother tongue in the education system were still incomplete, but they cannot be scientifically denied even today.

Many non-Russians in the Russian Empire were active members of imperial educated society (obshchestvo), and they often conceived of the colonial advance of Russia as part of the march of the progressive West and “civilization” itself into the backward lands of the East. Reformist empire builders who criticized the brutal wars and population transfers that marked the conquest of the southern borderlands also emphasized the civilizing mission of the empire on its eastern frontier. This article explores the conception of Russia and its empire in the work of the Azerbaijani publicist Hasan Melikov Zardabi. Zardabi was genuinely enthusiastic about Russia and the prospect of an enlightened imperial future for the lands of the former khanates on the frontier of the Iranian and Ottoman empires. The unusual circumstances of his life, however, which included exile to his remote and native village of Zardob, a small fishing village on the Kura River to the west of Baku, compelled him to re-evaluate his estimation of Russia and the benefits of imperial rule. Zardabi learned from his experience in Zardob, and grew to rethink his earlier views about civilization and the Russian Empire.

The paper analyzes the concept LABOR in the Russian worldview on the basis of 1980-2000 publicist contexts. The source of the material is the journalistic subcorpus of the “National Corpus of the Russian Language”. The main cognitive features of the concept LABOR are identified by analyzing semantics, pragmatics and contextual partners of the key lexemes representing the concept. The analysis of 500 publicist contexts has shown that the concept LABOR in publicist discourse possesses a variety of cognitive features, which indicates a multi-level structure of the concept. We distinguish three types of these features: anti-ideological, ontological (of objective and subjective nature), and social. All the three are due to the external historical changes, are relatively unstable and “responsible” for the structural changes of the concept. The analysis concludes that the Soviet regime and the historical situation had a significant impact on the language consciousness and mentality of native speakers at the conceptual and value levels. In the structure of the concept LABOR, the main changes are associated with the following components: subject, object, characteristics of labor, result, process, and addressee of labor. The most significant changes related to deideologization affected the blocks of ideas about the subject and addressee of labor (destruction of the idea about collective labor for the benefit of the country).

Aboriginal activism has become increasingly subject to media publicity, reflecting a popular view of Aboriginals not only as a social problem but as creating problems that threaten the social fabric. This paper is based on the findings of a critical discourse analysis of a collection of opinion pieces published in The Globe and Mail and the National Post. The contemporary construction of the “Indian problem” was investigated in the context of the Idle No More movement, viewing these texts as part of larger processes of elaboration, articulation, and application of Western ideas on Aboriginal social policy. One of the fundamental conflicts that can be identified in settler discourse is in regard to history and change and a particular concern with how much of the past should be carried into the future. The discontinuous view of history emphasizes the distance of history, making the past seem foreign to the modern, civilized eye. Injustices are presented as characteristics of history, and the violence of colonial times can be disconnected from the present.

Purpose This paper aims to examine how incentive framing format and language congruency interactively influence readers’ post-reading responses to hotel-related email advertisements. Design/methodology/approach A 2 (incentive framing format: amount-off versus percentage-off) × 2 (language congruency: use of readers’ native language versus use of readers’ foreign language) between-subject experiment was conducted with 233 bilingual speakers from China. Findings The findings unveil that readers are more likely to be enticed to search for more information about the promoted hotel restaurant, click the call-to-action button and share the promotional message with friends and families if an email advertisement presents the incentive of a price promotion in the form of amount-off (versus percentage-off). The indirect impact of language congruency is also verified. Specifically, the impact of incentive framing format on readers’ post-reading response is more salient when information is communicated using readers’ native (versus non-native) language. Practical implications The findings provide actionable clues for hoteliers to optimize their email marketing campaigns. If hotels want to publicize a price promotion for their high-priced service (e.g. hotel restaurant dining) via email advertisements, marketers should present the incentive in the form of amount-off. Hotels should also personalize the language used in the email advertisements according to readers’ native language. Originality/value This study enriches the literature on email marketing by explicating how hoteliers can improve the efficacy of email marketing via personalizing the incentive framing format and language used in the email advertisement according to the readers’ preferences.

This somebody is Sherman Alexie, a writer, publicist, poet and scriptwriter who has published around 30 books to date. Like Vi Hilbert, Sherman Alexie, who is three generations younger, proclaims his Native American heritage. He represents it and helps other readers and interested people understand, or join the path towards building this identity. His texts are characterised by a humorous distance as well as an excellent gift of observation. Alexie is one of the most significant figures of the literature of the indigenous Americans and is a textbook example of a new type of narration, which has deep roots in this region and is nurtured. His early works were a great surprise at the time of their publication, both for readers from the Native American community and other Americans. From an ethnological point of view, they are not only a factual source of knowledge, but also provide a perspective for evaluating the culture emically.

The deal with figurative statements about the language of Pavel Movchan and reveals their correspondence to modern trends in the development of linguistic thought. In the study, we use the descriptive method, as well as the analysis of the semantic components of the text. The source base of the research was the articles, prefaces, interviews included in the collection «Vertical Word» (Kyiv, 2022, 608 p.), the lion’s share of which is included in the section «In the beginning was the Word». Among them, we highlight the following: «Language is a cosmic phenomenon», «Reborn in the word», «The word is dead and alive», «Language and writing: eternal categories». The article proves that the name of the collection of articles is symbolic. It encodes the development path of the Ukrainian national language, which, according to the publicist, can be defined as vertical development, that is, from the bottom to the mountain, from the pole to the elite. At the same time, the author is convinced that the primacy of oral speech and the secondary nature of literary speech in no way limit the functional possibilities of the modern Ukrainian literary language, but only attests to the inextricable connection between these two forms of language existence. On the other hand, the title of the collection of journalistic and literary works of Pavel Movchan uses the idea of ancient philosophers about the four elements (elements) – water, earth, fire and air. The publicist suggests that the fifth ethereal element is language, which enlivens the World, focuses its energy in itself. Language is a kind of synthesis of everything national, the focus of his vision. As a supporter of the hypothesis of polygenesis in the question of the origin of language, Pavlo Movchan, presenting its interpretation, emphasizes the social nature of language, its creation by means of a unique linguistic picture of the world. In the writer’s field of vision are the peculiarities of the communication of native speakers, which he imagines as a kind of power line from one to another. The publicist is also convinced that language affects a person’s anthropological code. Interpretations of the language through the prism of the individual who uses it are also imbued with the depth of the author’s vision and an objective assessment of the linguistic individual creativity. Pavlo Movchan defends the right of every person to use his native language. He sees it as an opportunity to be himself, to be self-determined. The writer’s thoughts about language and the word are marked by metaphorical definitions of their essence, which the artist successfully implements with the help of metaphor.

The article analyzes the unknown poems of the West Belarusian poet, prose writer, publicist and artist Yanka Malanka (1895 – 1938). Considering the characteristic features of the creative personality of Ya. Malanka, the author notes the richness of the problem-thematic content, as well as the variety of genre-structural forms of the poet’s works, who wrote not only poetry, but also sketches, stories, fairy tales, jokes, feuilletons, political ditties, etc. others. Sincerity and warmth presupposed in them a characteristic internal mobilization and tension were supplemented by an offensive logic of thinking, lyrical ridicule was intensified by the pathos of civic spirit and patriotism, as well as humorous-satirical revealing and exposure. The leading motives and images of Ya. Malanka’s poetic creativity are revealed. At the same time, it is emphasized that a cheerful mood, categorical invectives, heightened emotionality were intensified in him by hyperbolized images and grotesque drawings. Ya. Malanka combined the accuracy of realistic reflection of phenomena and events with the peculiarities of the romantic elevation of the hero’s aspirations and impulses, lyrical spontaneity and penetration were complemented by journalistic and satirical sharpness. Attention is drawn to a certain sketchiness of the word-image of the poet, “primitive accuracy” of his ideas and thoughts, roughness of style and linguistic constructions.

The Yevhen Yavorivskyi’s journalism was published on the pages of such Ukrainian periodicals: «Dilo» (Lviv, 1880—1939s), «Zhyttia i Znannia» (Lviv, 1927—1939s), «Ukrainske Slovo» (Yavoriv, 1929—1939s); also its publisher and the editor-in-chief), «Litopys Chervonoi Kalyny» (Lviv, 1929—1939s), «Zmahannia» (Sokal, 1931—1932s), «Litavry» (Kyiv, 1941), «Vinnytski visti» (Vinnytsya, 1941—1943s), «Dniprova khvylia» (Kremenchuk, 1941—1943s), «Lvivski visti» (Lviv, 1941—1944s), «Nashi Dni» (Lviv, 1941—1944s) and others. While in Lviv, Yevhen Yavorivskyi actively participated in the activities of the publishing house of I. Tiktor’s «Ukrainska Presa». He published his articles in the newspapers «Novyi Chas», «Narodnia Sprava», «Nash Prapor», and also had been responsible for the preparation of books of this concern. For many years, Yevhen Yavorivskyi actively cooperated with «Svoboda» — the Ukrainian newspaper in the USA. According to the reference sources, after leaving his native land (Ukraine) in 1944, he moved first to Innsbruck (Austria), then from 1950 he relocated to the USA). Over there he was a member of the editorial board of the «Vilna Ukraina» magazine (Detroit, since 1954). Moreover, we have managed to elucidate that he was a regular contributor to the «Narodna Volia» (Olyphant, 1911—1913; Scranton, 1913). The main topics of Yevhen Yavorivskyi’s journalistic (memoir) publications were the reminiscences of 1917—1921s (at that time he served in the ranks of the Ukrainian Galician Army), the analysis of Ukrainian political events, the explanation of the necessity for enlightenment, specifically reading, as well as the organization of the Ukrainian educational institutions, informing about the current state as well as novelties in the Ukrainian book publishing. As a major ecological project with the largest investment scale, strongest policy support, most extensive involvement, and the highest level of public participation in the world, the Sloping Land Conversion Program (SLCP) implemented by China is important for protecting the ecological environment and achieving long-term stability. Consolidating the SLCP’s achievements is key to its sustainable operation. Based on a sample of 612 farmers in Guizhou Province, this paper discusses the impact of value perception and government regulation on farmers’ behavior in terms of their continued SLCP maintenance. The results show that (1) value perception and government regulation are important factors affecting the sustainability of farmers’ behavior of continuing to maintain the SLCP. Perceived economic value and perceived cost input, as dimensions of value perception, and policy publicity and economic incentives, as dimensions of government regulation, have important influences on farmers’ continued SLCP maintenance. (2) There are complementary effects between value perception and government regulation. Policy publicity and perceived ecological value, technical guidance and perceived economic and social value, and economic incentives and perceived economic value can have complementary effects on farmers’ continued maintenance behavior. (3) Value perception and government regulation heterogeneously impact different groups of farmers. In terms of intergenerational differences, perceived cost inputs and punitive measures significantly affect only new-generation farmers. In terms of farmer type, perceived economic value does not significantly affect nonfarmers; perceived cost input significantly affects part-time farmers engaged mainly in off-farm employment, and technical guidance and economic incentives have the greatest impact on pure farmers. In terms of tree species, perceived cost input and policy publicity significantly impact only ecological forest farmers, while technical guidance has a greater impact on economic forest farmers. The findings provide an in-depth understanding of the mechanism underlying farmers’ behavior in maintaining the SLCP and offer a reference for promoting the goals of forestry ecological policies against the background of rural revitalization and green development.

The article considers a set of issues related to the process of spreading the Russian language in Ossetia in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries, among which the problem of the native language occupied a central place as it was on the periphery of the educational activities of the local elementary school. The article based on a wide range of diverse sources, including legislative acts, with the primary use of materials from newspaper periodicals of the early 20th century, published in the Terek region. An analysis of documentary materials showed that the spread of the Russian language in the North Caucasian outskirts and its linguistic “Russification” was provided with legal support due to its immanent significance as a marker of Russian statehood. The main attention in the article is paid to the analysis of the journalistic discourse of early 20th century formed in Ossetia relatively the position of the Ossetian language in elementary school, which was assigned the functions of an auxiliary tool for mastering the Russian language. The main ideas and provisions expressed by representatives of the Ossetian intelligentsia and reflected in the pages of the regional periodical press are considered. Pedagogical authorities recognized in Ossetia, writers and public figures spoke out in defense of the native language, which faced the threat of complete oblivion on the peripheryof educational work and lost its original functions of a folk educator and teacher. Recognizing the objectivity of the factors that determined the secondary status of the Ossetian language (the absence for a long time of textbooks, teaching aids and methodological materials for Ossetian schools, etc.), publicists came out with demands for the translation of primary education into the native language of pupils, which were supported by the highest Caucasian administration. At the same time, the advanced Ossetian public recognized the historical conditionality of the need for the mountaineers to master the Russian language space as a factor that softens the painful process of adaptation to new realities and ensures movement towards a civil universe. The preservation of the native language as the core of the national culture along this path was perceived as a moral duty of the intelligentsia, an imperative of its creative activity.

This research has carried out a systematized bibliographic review to analyze how the return on investment (ROI) in communication, and specifically in public relations, has been theoretically treated. The financial measurement of communication outcomes represents a topic of great interest for the academic community because organizations need to know the real results of their communication efforts. At the same time, economic measurement turns out to be a variable that can be understood by the management of the organizations and allows them to know where the money is being spent. However, despite more than forty years of theoretical work, a homogeneous nor globally accepted solution has not yet been achieved. The bibliographical study of the return on investment in communication, and especially in public relations, shows the difficulty of turning the success of the activity of public relations professionals into money. On the one hand, there is no doubt that the ROI is directly related to financial data; on the other hand, in communication it is usual to introduce non-economic values to evaluate the results achieved. The bibliographical results indicate in the first instance that, on a quantitative level, the economic aspect is predominant in the calculation of the ROI (96.3%). In this context measurement by equivalence in advertising (AVE) is an economic model as used by professionals as it is rejected by researchers. It is based on comparing the cost of a presence in the media with the equivalent cost if it were advertising. Nevertheless, this model is criticized for the differences between advertising (a completely controlled message) and publicity (a message that is altered by the media). However, taking the previous works about the subject, it can be said that the evaluation of public relations actions can be dealt with from the perspective of opportunity cost: the loss of other alternatives when one alternative is chosen. In this way, the evaluation of the cost of a traditional advertising action can be compared with the cost of other options available to public relations professionals. For example, native advertising is a resource of public relations teams whose cost can easily be compared to traditional advertising. Native advertising is a paid promotion that matches the audience's consumption and contains information of interest to the advertiser. Hence opinions that reject the advertising equivalence measurement (AVE) are not justified when the product generated by public relations has the characteristics of native advertising because in both cases (advertising vs. native advertising) the professional can exactly compare the investment made with one instead of the other.

Ancient canal towns in Jiangnan have become important tourist destinations due to their unique water town scenery and historical value. Creating a unique tourist image boosts these ancient towns’ competitive edge in tourism and contributes significantly to their preservation and growth. The vast amount of data from social media has become an essential source for uncovering tourism perceptions. This study takes two ancient towns in Shanghai, Zhaojialou and Fengjing, as case study areas. In order to explore and compare the destination images of the towns, in the perception of tourists and in official publicity, machine learning approaches like word embedding and K-means clustering are adopted to process the comments on Sina Weibo and publicity articles, and statistical analysis and correspondence analysis are used for comparative study. The results reveal the following: (1) Using k-means clustering, destination perceptions were categorized into 16 groups spanning three dimensions, “space, activity, and sentiment”, with the most keywords in “activity” and the fewest in “sentiment”. (2) The perception of tourists often differs significantly from the official promotional materials. Official promotions place a strong emphasis on shaping the image of ancient towns based on their historical resources, presenting a more general picture. Tourist perception, which is fragmented, highlights emerging elements and the experiential activities, along with the corresponding emotional experiences. (3) Comparing the two towns, Fengjing Ancient Town stands out, with more diverse tourist perceptions and richer emotional experiences. This underscores the effectiveness of tourism activities that use space as a media to evoke emotions, surpassing the impact of the spaces themselves.

V. Yavorivsky's artistic journalism can be divided into two periods according to the real chronotope, the first of which includes works published in the 70-90s of the XX century, the second collection of modern journalism, written in the late XX - early XXI century. . The concept of land in V. Yavorivsky's essays is one of the main ones, which is primarily due to the subject matter of the works. Most often, the concept of the earth is created with the help of this token and this definition, cozy, beautiful, wonderful, and so on. The earth for the publicist has colour and taste, a smell, carries heat. Ukrainian land appears as a family history, as a museum. In the essays of the second period of creativity, the concept of land first of all appears as a territory inhabited by the Ukrainian people. V. Yavorivsky endows it with such conceptual features as God's, Ukrainian, our, patriotic, native, own, Zaporozhian, father. For the writer, land is first of all a territory, which is one of the features of the state.

The article presents the views of Henryk Lisicki, a publicist and historian, actively cooperating with Krakow’s conservatives (Stańczycy). It focuses on the issue presented in his literature (and representative of his native environment), of the attitude of conservatives toward the nineteenth-century democratization processes. In his views, he revealed criticism of the legacy of the Great French Revolution of 1789. However, the article indicates that in his works Lisicki did this from a moderately conservative position. As a result, he argued for the possibility of adapting the deposit of „traditional values” resulting from the natural law to the reality forming in the Old Continent, under the influence of changes caused by the aforementioned revolution. The article also signals the political construct preferred by moderate conservatives (which is an alternative to the personal rule of a ruler or republic), in the form of a constitutional monarchy, which was exemplified by Victorian England. The text also points to representative elements of the moderately conservative worldview, which is a reception of conservative and liberal ideals.

Purpose. Revealing the basic ways of creation of publicistic image and defining the means of expression of author’s position in this popular type of media text after the analysis of publications on the web-site “TASS. Infographic”. Results. Publicism as the most demanded type of art in native mass media and developing during three centuries faces now the challenges of the 21st century. Abilities of publicistic perception of reality based upon the dialectic interaction of a fact and an image, a standard and expression, an active dialogue between an author and an addressee which leads to co-creativity, preserved and developed traditions in contemporary media. Evolution of digital and multimedia technologies, informational globalization on all the levels of mass communication, content visualization – all those demanded a search for new formats and genres from the authors of journalistic works. The transformation touched both communication channels and text formation principles with the problem of author being especially acute; his “death” was announced by post-modernists and he seems to have no place in the infinite flow of news generated with the help of new technologies. Remaining a high unit of communication, publicistic text changes under the influence of various tendencies: development of news journalism and personification of media text; visualization and digitalization; convergence and diversification. Infographic became the most convincing and effective response to the challenges of the new age. The main research methods are textual, discursive and cognitive analysis as well as case-method. Conclusion. As the result of the analysis the following conclusion has been drawn: infographic as a convenient format of “package” of a large informational volume is developing towards publicism; the author’s role enhanced in this kind of multimedia text is supported by such tendencies as “visual turn” and personification of journalistic text.

In the 1980s international publicity was given to the deaths of thousands of wildebeest in southern Botswana. The cause was their drought-induced migrations being prevented by the cordon fences erected to protect cattle from disease. While the mortalities may have accounted for 90 per cent of the wildebeest population since 1979, archive records from the 1920s and 1940s show that the decline started much earlier. Wildebeest were once so numerous in the southern Kalahari that local farmers regarded them as a menace, competing with cattle for grazing and transmitting malignant catarrh. Extermination programmes reduced the wildebeest population to such an extent that by 1961 the Botswana Government classified it as a game animal to be hunted only by licence.

In order to develop the vineyard and orchard sector in Romania from a sustainable point of view, the European Union primarily finances plantations with native varieties. To be able to talk about sustainable development and environmental protection, GIS systems should be structured by fields of activity and become an interface between man and nature. The integration of these projects within the systematic cadastre work would have the effect of obtaining a better reassessment of the agricultural potential of the area. Thus, the "Vasile Adamachi" didactic farm of the Iasi University of Life Sciences has reconfigured the cadastral plots, currently occupying a total area of 16.1 ha with vines and 12.2 ha with fruit trees. This project to modernise the vineyard/fruit-growing plantations was realised from the rehabilitation funds of the European Union, through the Payments and Intervention Agency for Agriculture. The creation by the Cadastre and Real Estate Publicity Agency of an integrated cadastre and land book system, as a "multipurpose" type system within the National Cadastre and Land Book Program, would help the Payments and Intervention Agency for Agriculture to identify agricultural real estate, which includes vineyards/fruit trees, and would encourage the owners of such plantations to access projects from the European Union funds for the modernisation, maintenance in good condition or expansion of vineyard and fruit-growing. Also, the technical-legal situation of the existing real estate at the administrative-territorial unit level could be obtained in real time.

Based on the hypothesis of individual-bounded rationality, this study analyzes the mechanisms of farmers’ cultivated land abandonment behavior, theoretically and empirically, by integrating the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and a structural equation model (SEM). On the basis of the TPB’s logical analysis framework of farmers’ abandonment behavior, combined with social psychology, behavioral economics, and a household behavior model, this study analyzes the influence of attitude on behavior, the subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control on farmers’ abandonment actions, then verifies it via an SEM Model. The research shows that farmers’ abandonment behavior accords with the theory of planned behavior. Farmers’ recognition of the negative impacts of abandonment, the intervention of important other persons, and the obstacles encountered in the process of abandonment can effectively restrain farmers’ abandonment behavior. Finally, by considering the determinants for farmers’ abandonment decisions, this study proposes to curb abandonment practices through measures that include strengthening publicity about abandonment, creating a favorable atmosphere for farming, and improving tillage conditions.

Mountain area is one of the most important modern tourist attractions, and unique mountain landscapes are highly appealing to millennials. Millennials post their travel photos and comments on social media, and these media messages can positively influence other millennials’ travel motivations. To fully understand the attraction of mountain tourist destinations to millennials, this study analyzed their landscape preferences using images posted on social media. As a case study, we analyzed the landscape resources in Western Sichuan Plateau Mountain Areas (WSPMA). We found that differences in genders, modes of transportation, and travel patterns of the millennials influenced their preferences for mountain landscapes. Our results broaden the current knowledge on mountain tourism from the perspective of millennials through social media data. Moreover, studying the landscape resources in WSPMA can facilitate the analysis of regional advantages. This will ultimately enhance tourism publicity and integrate various resources for tourism management and planning in more targeted and attractive ways.

As a result of the conducted scientifically-searching work with bringing in of new sources, analysis of the found archived documents, information is specified about the course of life of Serhij Baczynskiy as a result of her verification with other documents and materials, in particular information is improved about his journalistic work. Ukrainian history of the first half of ХХ century is a difficult period of social and political, military and cultural processesin that active voice was accepted by Ukrainian intelligentsia. Traditionally exactly this social class was and remains the leader of Ukrainian motion. On the modern stage of development of historical science scientists more and more apply to prosopography as to direction of historical and biographical research that envisages personification of the past by the study of historical events and their consequences through the prism of human factor. The names of many participants of Ukrainian national-democratic revolution in the second half of ХХ century were unfairly forgotten or intentionally held back the soviet system, that resulted in "cleaning" out of information. Andonly with therevival of Ukrainian independence back to scientific turnover historical memory began to go about the forbidden past and about the representatives of twenty-fourhours, that created him. To their number it is possible to take a native of Katerynoslavschyny, public-political figure, publicist, agriculturist, teacher of the first Ukrainian gymnasium, secretary of presidium of Labour congress of Ukraine(to parliament of People’s Republic of Ukraine), and afterwards emigrant Serhij Baczynskiy (1887-1941).

Awareness of the importance of the wildlife trade and human perception in animal conservation is growing. Recent studies carried out on a continental and world scale have analysed the associations between trophy score, rarity and prices. As a large range of ungulates are legally hunted throughout the world and numerous ungulate taxa are threatened, the relationship between rarity and trophy prices has been studied in several species. This article briefly reviews verifiable data on species and trophy prices and compares findings with data used in recent articles. The findings show that several elements of intra–specific data were inadequately addressed and that the trophy prices considered were not necessarily representative of real trophy prices. Furthermore, the body mass used for numerous taxa did not fit current knowledge of species, and several subspecies and rarity indexes that were considered disagreed with recognized subspecies or with the real conservation status of taxa. Thus, caution should be taken when considering some reported results. To improve our understanding of the associations between wildlife trade and wildlife conservation, further studies should take into account reliable specific data, such as that from government agencies, rather than publicity data.

Having access to a classroom where the education is being offered in their mother tongues is a non-negotiable right of the migrants. The growing number of migrants all over the world, with speedier continuum in developed countries, highlights the need for having sufficient and proper educational materials in migrants’ originating languages in host countries. To address this need, strategic planning for developing and disseminating educational material is of urgent priority. That the translation plays an undeniable role in such plan is truly undeniable, but the point to be emphasized here is that the strategists, education policy-makers of the host countries, and the translators should identify and incorporate into translation projects the most pressing educational needs of students. The emphasis would better be placed on developing materials as part of a strategic initiative to publicize education in their native languages, and reach an educational system that, while being easily integrated to hosting society aim-wise, is in full consistency with the migrant community social and cultural-wise. A comprehensive approach for selection of educational material for translation should take into account the societal, economic, religious and organizational factors that define the environment in which the translated educational material are to be provided to students. Material development would ideally be in the context of a plan that considers the significant cultural barriers that a migrant student usually encounters in the hosting society. It is one thing to say the world has a moral responsibility to protect migrant languages; it is another thing to act upon it.

Fedir Vovk (1847–1918), a native of Poltava region and a professor at the Sorbonne University and the University of Petrograd, an illustrious Ukrainian anthropologist and archaeologist, made a significant contribution to the development of national and world scientific thinking. In particular, he is known as the discoverer of Mizin culture, editor of the works of Taras Shevchenko, an active promoter of Ukrainian culture in Europe. Based on the study of a significant ethnographic material collected from different countries, including Romania, Hungary, Russia, F. Vovk published in 1892 a unique work, “The Ritual and Traditions of Marriage in Ukraine”, and in 1916 – two works: “Anthropological Features of the Ukrainian People” and “Ethnographic Features of the Ukrainian People”. Through his works, he rejected the theories of several Russian imperial historians about the fact that Ukraine is only “a south of Russia”. Of particular importance for the scientific activity of F. Vovk was his stay in Romania during 1878–1882. The scientist studied, in particular, the Ukrainian settlements in Northern Dobrogea. As the eloquent scientific results of these studies were, for example, the works “The Trans-Danubian «Sicea» in local memories and stories” (1883) and “Ukrainian Fishing in Dobrogea” (1899). F. Vovk also collaborated with the well-known writer, translator, publicist and public activist Zamfir Arbore-Rally (1848–1933) and rightly entered the scientific annals as one of the founders of the Ukrainian-Romanian scientific and cultural relations of the late (political) stage of the national-cultural renaissance and development of state-building processes in Central and Eastern Europe.

In its first study, the working group of land evaluation and land use (agriculture) has outlined the scientific area, described its connections to other sciences and examined the international data providing needs. In its second study we collected the available digital maps and datasets for the regardless of their scale to help data communication in a common information collecting work platform. We evaluated the general availability, the stage of digitalization, difficulty in availability and their information content. For further evaluation we took into account the legal and decision support background and the possibilities of regulations and publicity. Furthermore we described the legal background of the land protection and agricultural (land use), the survey of the Hungarian and EU data providing tasks, the survey of the operation of land protection and agri-environmental programs and institutions. We analysed methodologies on the fields of agricultural suitability-environmental sensitivity, suitability of agricultural production, agro-ecological value and environmental sensitivity. In our third study we connected models and databases and created a possible parameter set (indicators). Our suggested indicators were introduced in oral presentations on Science’s Day, at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, in 2006. These were as follows: landscape indicators: a) 1. landscape pattern, 2. landscape fragmentation, 3. land use stability, 4. connectivity, 5. state of health of the landscape; b) agri-environmental indicators: 1. areas brought into the programs and their distribution by target programs, 2. rate of large and small scale farming (and the rate of extensive and intensive agriculture), 3. nitrogen output (organic+inorganic), 4. erosion. The chosen indicators were described as follows: name of the indicator, explanation for choosing the indicator, definition of the indicator, possibility of measuring/estimating the indicator (with available maps and datasets), planned monitoring activity with the indicator.

AbstractCities are home to both a majority of the world’s human population, and to a diversity of wildlife. Urban wildlife conservation research and policy has importantly furthered ecological understanding and species protection in cities, while also leveraging wildlife conservation to connect people to urban nature. Thus, urban wildlife conservation intersects conservation research, conservation policy, and the general public in cities worldwide. Yet, species that are often framed as “urban wildlife” are often of higher trophic levels, including birds and mammals that serve as “flagship” species for public support. Other forms of urban life including plants and invertebrates are often largely ignored, producing a normative urban wildlife concept that may bias urban wildlife conservation research and policy, and sentiment in the general public. To develop new strategies in urban wildlife conservation for the urban era, we need to move towards a more inclusive and holistic framing of urban wildlife for both research and the public. In this article, we discuss the normative framing of urban wildlife and how this framing may bias urban conservation efforts, and argue for a holistic approach to urban wildlife inclusive of all life forms for future research, publicity and policy interventions.

Vasyl Ivanys (1888-1974) is an extraordinary personality of the Ukrainian political and cultural world of the XX century. He was a politician and public figure, engineer, economist, publicist and historian. Exept this, the person of Vasyl Ivanys is interesting because he, as a native of the North Caucasus, directly knew this part of the world, its history, the course of the revolutionary events of 1917-1921, and, unlike other famous figures of Kuban or Ukraine at that time, left a complex idea of the region in the published work «On the problem of the Caucasus». The ideas and views expressed in this publication are the subject of this paper. In addition to «On the problem of the Caucasus», the source base includes the first two volumes of Vasyl Ivanys memoirs of «Paths of Life», publications «Another tragedy of the Cossacks» and «The Kuban struggle for independence». The article pays a lot of attention to the identity of Vasyl Ivanys, which was due to its origin. First of all, he was a Cossack, a native of the North Caucasus, but at the same time he felt his belonging to the Ukrainian cultural space. His publication «On the Problem of the Caucasus» focuses mainly on the ancient history of the region, Russia’s conquest of the Caucasus, the resettlement of the Cossacks in the Kuban, the revolution of 1917-1918 in the North Caucasus and the future of this part of the world. The author of the article concludes that Ivanys views on the history and future of the Caucasus region, expressed in the «On the problem of the Caucasus», due to the origin and its political orientation. The Kuban occupies a central place in the publication, but Vasyl Ivanys covers its history in the general historical context and emphasizes its belonging to the North Caucasus. Although «On the Problem of the Caucasus» is based on extensive bibliographic material, but has a journalistic character. At the same time, Ivanys publication remains one of the few generalizations in Ukrainian historiography that covers the history of the Caucasus from ancient times to the second half of the XX century, gives an idea of the economic and cultural potential of the region and reflects the geopolitical ideas prevailing in Ukrainian politics emigration.

the article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of artistic embodiment of the image of the Mordovian region in the creative work of K. Tangalychev and fits into the complex of studies of domestic literary studies concerning the problem of analyzing the author’s individual style. The subject of analysis is the ways and methods of creating the image of the small homeland in the prose and poetic texts of the author. Objective: to reveal the specificity of representation of the image of the Mordovian region in the artistic heritage of K. Tangalychev. Research materials: poetry collections of K. Tangalychev “The Nearest Village” (2001), “The Tin Century” (2014), “The Pedigree of the Sunset” (2017), and the book of essays “The Return of the Strawberry” (2023). Results and novelty of the research: the creative work of K. Tangalychev, the poet and publicist, occupies a special place in the literary process of Mordovia. Tatar by nationality, living in close proximity to the Mordovian and Russian peoples, he praised the multinational region rich in cultural traditions. A distinctive feature of his artistic works is a dialectical combination of national and international, everyday life, ancient history and modernity. The scientific novelty of the article is due to the fact that it represents the first experience of a comprehensive study of the image of the small homeland in the literary heritage of the author. In the course of the study it was established that K. Tangalychev’s nonfiction works are deeply lyrical, and his poetry is permeated with autobiographical beginning. The central artistic dominant of his works is the image of his small homeland – the native village Akcheevo, which is mythologized into a symbolic image of ancient Greek Hellas – the place of strength and creative inspiration of the poet. The sacredness of this geographical topos is created by the key constants – the image of a mother praying for her son; native nature reflecting the divine essence of the universe; fellow villagers preserving national traditions; the legendary historical past of the Temnikovsky region. The lyrical hero, closely merged with the image of the poet himself, deeply experiences the destruction of human ties with his spiritual Home, hence, the motif of memory as the plot-forming basis of creativity of K. Tangalychev acquires special importance.

The stability or security of property rights plays an important role in stimulating the investment of economic entities, which can prevent or alleviate the degradation of land resources and improve the efficiency of agricultural management. This paper focuses on the perspective of land property rights security awareness, analyzes its impact on farmers’ cultivated land quality protection behavior, and, on the basis of a theoretical analysis framework linking the two, uses farmer survey data from southern Jiangxi Province and the probit model to empirically analyze the impact of farmers’ land property rights security awareness on their cultivated land quality protection behavior. The results show that the improvement in farmers’ awareness of land property rights security could significantly improve their probability of applying farmyard manure. This conclusion is proven to be robust by means of a replacement model and adjustment variables. Moreover, it is found that the influence of land property rights security cognition on farmyard manure application differs among farmers by age, degree of part-time work and land scale. Finally, we can draw inspiration for improving the effective implementation of public policies and increasing the publicity of legal knowledge of land property rights to improve farmers’ awareness and consideration of land property rights security.

Education is an essential component of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through a questionnaire survey among students from a Chinese senior high school, this study measured the self-reported knowledge, sources of information, learning situations, priorities, the impact of personal life and career planning with respect to the SDGs to understand their cognition, learning motivation and social readiness. The results show that students’ knowledge and information sources in relation to the SDGs are limited, and there is no significant difference between boys and girls in relation to their knowledge of the SDGs, the source of information, the learning level of the SDGs, impact of personal life on the SDGs and career planning related to the SDGs. It is also shown that students have a better understanding of the number of the SDGs and the countries to which the SDGs are addressed and students receive information about the SDGs via formal education and traditional media. Regarding the penetration of the SDGs in course subjects, Chinese and native culture, foreign language, biology and geography have included all the SDGs. Through an analysis of responses and popularity rates, gender equality, quality education, reduced inequalities, no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being are shown to be the students’ priorities with higher attention rates. Gender equality, quality education, clean water and sanitation are the top three goals in relation to which students consider that their personal life can have a greater impact. Students prefer to adopt the SDGs (decent work and economic growth, quality education, industry, innovation and infrastructure, sustainable cities and communities) as their personal career choice in the future. Suggestions for improving the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) include comprehensive formal and non-formal education, publicity and curriculum integration to promote learning about the SDGs. A model of ESD in the school surveyed is presented for practical application. Based on this research, guidance and suggestions are provided to enhance students’ awareness, knowledge and competencies in relation to sustainability and to encourage student engagement in global sustainable development.
