Resumo:

What ethics means in the field of evaluation is largely confined to matters of face-to-face interaction of professionals with those with whom professionals work; what is commonly referred to as professional ethics. Less attention is given to the normative characteristics that are unique to evaluation professionalism. This essay focuses on the normative political characteristics of professional ethics in evaluation; that is, how the profession ought to be connected to conceptions of the citizenry and the common good. It argues for a professional ethic referred to as democratic professionalism.

This monograph begins a rethinking of the idea of professional journalism ethics and examines how ethics is being employed as a key differentiator between amateurs (audience members, citizen journalists, and the like) and professionals, while other once-distinguishing features of journalism have become more widely dispersed and available to the public. How do the ethics of nonprofessionals practicing journalism differ, if at all, from everyday morality? Is journalism ethics—should journalism ethics be—the exclusive domain of professionals? This monograph considers the role of ethics in defining what it means to be a professional journalist; challenges to professional journalism’s autonomy from “amateurs” and how ethics is used to maintain boundaries between them; and objectivity as a tenet of professional journalism ethics. An analysis of 2016 U.S. presidential election campaign coverage is used to explore how and why a professional journalism centered on an ethic of objectivity can fail to perform ethically.

Implicitly, the "greatest good for the greatest number" serves as the dominant land-use ethic of professional foresters, but is flawed for several reasons that are discussed in this paper. In effect, when foresters invoke this ethic when they recommend or make land-use decisions, they are "taking sides" politically in exactly those situations in which professionals are ethically required to be politically neutral. I suggest that this problem may have contributed to the profession's recent lack of public credibility, but it also represents an opportunity for the profession to enhance its credibility by designing and explicitly adopting a more appropriate land-use ethic.

Resumo:

Law Number 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers states that every teacher is required to have four basic competencies, namely pedagogical competence, personality competence, professional competence, and social competence. The research objective was to determine the relationship between teacher work ethics and professional certificates. The method of this research is a qualitative descriptive approach related to work ethic and then the correlation is sought with professional certificates through quantitative methods. The subjects of this study were 16 teachers of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) in Pundong District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. The results showed that teachers who were certified professional educators had good competence and high work ethic. Based on the results of the product moment correlation analysis, it was obtained a correlation coefficient (rxy) of 0.087 with p = 0.750, which means that there is a relationship between teacher work ethics and professional educator certificates, but the correlation is very weak or very low.

The aim of this research to know the perception of students about ethics values in professional code of ethic and business ethics. The analysis is based on the answer from responden where its data are gathered from accounting students and business students of economic faculty Trisakti University. The questioners about ethical concept is took from code of ethic management accountant or internal accountant that is Competence, Confidentiality, Honesty, Objectivity, Accountability and Responsibility. Resumo:

The problem of the study represented in lack of interest of some internal audit managements in Sudanese banks in implementing professional ethic rules of audit and to its advantages in developing professional practice of internal audit. The study aimed to encourage internal audits management in banks for implementing audit’s standards and professional ethic rules, study the relationship between professional ethic rules of audit and professional performance of internal audit and developing it. The study found several results, among which is that, the independence of internal auditor when planning for auditing distributes in developing professional practice of internal audit, the study recommended several recommendations, among which is that, need for increasing the awareness of internal auditors in Sudanese banks for internal audit’s professional ethic rules and its importance of implementing it.

AbstractAs the context for practice in educational psychology in the future seems destined to be no less complex or tension-ridden than it is currently, practitioners have a compelling need to develop ethical frameworks to guide and inform their work. A professional ethic is one way of reducing uncertainty, given that the problems most professionals face in their work are messy and ill formed, with few protocols. Ethical frameworks can be likened to scaffolding on building sites: they offer protection from mishap and thus allow individuals to do their jobs safely with a minimum of constraint. The core values for a professional ethic are considered, drawing on codes of practice issued by professional bodies; the therapeutic orientation implicit in being a psychologist; education law, duties of care and court judgments; ethical values and principles as points of reference for ethical dialogue; and organisational policy in host institutions. Whenever educational psychologists (EPs) are confronted with situations where ethical dilemmas arise, systematic procedures enable options to be considered in reaching an ethical decision. We present the case, given the foregrounding of EPs in relation to national agendas such as school improvement and inclusion, for greater ethical awareness in individuals and services. A professional ethic for EPs is also a social and iterative process, concerned with the development and maintenance of a professional culture based on best practice.

Recognizing ethical issues and dilemmas that arise in professional practice is crucial for social work practitioners, educators, and students. After a discussion about the limited, although growing, literature on social work ethics, the ten main tenets form the most current NASW Code of Ethics are presented. These topics include limits to confidentiality, confidentiality and technology, confidentiality in family and group work, managed care, cultural competence, dual relationships, sexual relationships, impairment and incompetence of colleagues, application to administrators and relevance to social work educators. In addition to understanding the Code of Ethics, social workers can use the ETHIC model of decision making for resolving ethical dilemmas. This easy to use five step process includes examining personal, agency, client, and professional values, thinking about ethical standards and relevant laws, hypothesizing about consequences, identifying the most vulnerable, and consulting with supervisors and colleagues. A case example involving confidentiality, HIV/AIDS and family therapy demonstrates how social workers can use the ETHIC model.

Patients who are subject to compulsory care constitute a substantial proportion of the work-load of mental health professionals, particularly psychiatric nurses. This article examines the traditional ‘beneficence-autonomy’ approach to ethics in compulsory psychiatric care and evaluates it against the reality of daily practice. Risk to the public has always been an important but often unacknowledged consideration. Inequalities exist among ethnic and socio-economic groups and there is a lack of agreement on what constitutes mental disorder. Two major changes in compulsory psychiatric care - community orders and care for patients with untreatable severe personality disorders - further challenge the traditional ethical approach. There are also important human rights implications. The simple patient-health professional relationship no longer provides an adequate framework for mental health professionals on which to base their ethical decisions. The public and organizations may have different perspectives and their interests are becoming increasingly important. Mental health professionals, particularly psychiatric nurses, may face ethical dilemmas because of these different perspectives.

AbstractThis article examines the reason for the recent interest in ethics, and considers its deontological and consequentialist bases. It is noted that ethics may be taught directly, or incidentally as part of other instruction. Experience has shown that teaching it directly has considerable merit in that this makes ethical issues explicit rather than implying that they are a less important part of professional practice. In such a way the “knowing” of ethics becomes insightful understanding rather than a superficial piece of information. It is clear that ethics should not be considered a quasi-legal entity. Ethics is about human values; about best aspirational standards; about creative and remedial issues; and about operating with goodwill (whereas the law is seen as setting minimum standards, using the adversarial approach, and inviting sanctions for breaches). In convincing professionals about the merits of ethics there are three basic types of argument: the rational explanation of its merits; empirical data showing the benefits; and the use of appropriate case studies. Most civilised countries have a code of professional ethics (or code of conduct). It is also clear that although the length of such codes varies there is substantial agreement about what a code should contain. To illustrate these principles various practical illustrations are given, and helpful principles suggested. Finally it is noted that discussions of ethics are particularly significant as they provide a forum in which issues of value may be discussed in a constructive and non-confrontational context.

Purpose The purpose of paper is to supply a code of ethics that can be easily utilized by working professional in their day to day decision making. The accounting profession plays a vital role in the functioning of modern society. It is essential that members of this profession be ethical and stand fast against the internal and external pressures that might encourage these professionals to engage in fraudulent activities. Codes of ethics provide a coherent articulation of the ideals, responsibilities and limitations of the collective ethic of a profession’s members and can assist in guiding ethical behavior. Design/methodology/approach Our model is based on the professional values of justice, utility, competence and utility, i.e. JUCI model, which is a straightforward and easily understandable ethical decision-making model that the average accounting professional, as well as finance professionals in general, may reference when challenged with difficult ethical quandaries. Findings This code, the JUCI Code, represents a contribution to the literature in that its simple, but not simplistic, approach could be of enormous benefit to busy and pressured accountants who need help in constructing independently achieved and defensible rational ethical decisions in the practice of accounting. Originality/value In this paper, the authors build upon a review of ethical foundations and codes of conduct in other professions to construct our code of ethics for accounting professionals.

This research aims to find out the influence between teacher professional competency variables on teacher performance controlled by work ethic variables and find out the magnitude of influence between variables. This study was located at SMK Daarul Abroor Tasikmalaya with a total sampling method that took the overall population of 40 people. The independent variable in the study was professional competence (X), while the dependent variable was teacher performance (Y). In addition, there are control variables in the form of work ethic (Z). Data collection instruments use questionnaires (questionnaires) as well as documentation. The data analysis method in this study consists of descriptive analysis and inferential analysis using statistical product and service solution (SPSS) version 22. Based on the results of the comparison between the bivariate correlation coefficient with the partial correlation coefficient obtained ryx > ryx.z = 0.807 > 0.519. From the comparison it can be concluded that professional competence can affect the performance of teachers because it is controlled by work ethic. In multiple regression analysis, there is a positive and significant influence between professional competence (X) on teacher performance (Y) through work ethic control variable (Z) with a coefficient of determination R2 of 0.706 with a significance value of 0.000 or less than α = 0.05. That is, the teacher performance variable (Y) can be explained by professional competency variable (X) and work ethic variable (Z) of 70.6%. The double regression equation is Y= 0.195X + 0.504X + 0.362X. Thus, in order for professional competence to be able to contribute to teacher performance, it must be supported by the work ethic of each individual teacher.

This article defines “curatorial ethics” as a notion that has to be configured and constantly revisited by an independent curator throughout her practice. By inquiring into the personal motives, biases and drives, she would establish her own ethical position, convert it into a professional ethic and apply it to judge her own professional performance and her colleagues. Such perspective opposes the traditional understanding a professional ethic as a set of unitary guidelines to be passed to specialists (i.e., via education or early career). The notion of curatorial responsibility is redefined accordingly, and with conceptual inspiration from Gilles Deleuze and Karen Barad’s concepts of “becoming” (Deleuze) and “intra-action” (Barad). A curator is addressed as accountable for configuring her practice in response to agendas and actions of other parties involved in the art project. That is, for facilitating the co-constitution of individual subject positions and practices via opening up herself to the terrors and potentials of unprecedented self-transformation.

Work ethic is becoming increasingly important at this time, due to lack of employee discipline which causes a decreased work ethic, especially after the bankruptcy at PT. Disti Mutiara Suci thus requires a leader to foster employee work ethics again, in this case it is necessary to implement leadership management in improving employee Islamic work ethics and also know what are the inhibiting and supporting factors of employee Islamic work ethics. The results of this study indicate that leadership management in improving the work ethic of post-bankrupt Islamic employees is a leader who does not restrain his employees so that it is easy to foster a post-bankrupt employee work ethic. And leaders better understand karwanan by not leaving the rules that apply in a company. The supporting factors are the applied promotion, trainings, good communication applied by the leader to subordinates, having trust in the subordinates. Whereas the obstacle factor in this case is the lack of smooth access to enter the work location so that the leadership is difficult to directly monitor, lack of professional work of employees and lack of employee loyalty to the company.

The article’s purpose is to describe some results of the research of students’ representations about the professional ethics of University teachers. The sample includes full-time and part-time students of psychological and pedagogical education. The diagnostic instrument was questionnaire “Customer Perceptions of professional ethics of the specialist”. It was revealed that students mainly note the orientation of the teachers’ professional ethics standards to their own professional interests, note the compliance of teachers’ personal characteristics with ethical requirements, and consider the job instructions to be the basis for the content of ethical standards in the teacher’s activity. Differences in the views of full-time and part-time students were found. Full-time students pay more attention to teachers’ personal characteristics as proof of compliance with ethical standards. Part-time students give a higher evaluation of teachers’ orientation to the professional community interests and needs of other ethic application objects (not only professional and client), as well as give a higher evaluation of law and universal values and culture as origins of teachers’ professional ethics.

This study aims to investigate the impact of supervision, motivation and work ethic on teachers’ professional competence. Using a sample of 131 respondents, and all respondents are teachers of SMA Muhammadiyah in East OKU, South Sumatera, Indonesia; and this study employs an Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method. All variables, apart from motivation exhibit a positive and significant impact on teachers’ professional competence. Meanwhile, motivation has no impact on teachers’ professional competence. It can be concluded that an education institution who have more strict supervision will have higher teachers’ professional competence and teachers who have higher work ethic will improve teachers’ professional competence

The purpose of this study is to identify and analyse the studies on the professional ethics of pre-service teachers in Turkey and to present the data on pre-service teachers and their professional ethics. Accordingly, the systematic review method was used. The keyword combinations as ‘pre-service teacher and ethic’ and ‘pre-service teacher and professional ethics’ were used in both Turkish and English to conduct the literature review in the databases as Google Scholar, ERIC, PsycINFO, Web of Science and EBSCO. As a result, 18 studies from 17 scholarly journals were found using the inclusion and exclusion criteria. These studies were analysed based on the year; participants’ grades in the university, number, departments, the curricula of the departments and the contexts of the studies. It is believed that future studies should be done with the participation of pre-service teachers from the 2nd and 3rd grades. Training programmes for pre-service teachers should be organised and the effectiveness of these programmes on professional ethics can be determined. ABSTRACTThe shift from a command economy to a market economy is not only a question of following appropriate macro-economic policies but also a matter of instilling a market ethic in the minds of people who had been socialized and rewarded in a non-market command economy. In that system, many concentrated on technical rules of survival. The lumpenproletariat in favoured industries were rewarded even when they shirked or pilfered from state enterprises. The ethics of the lumpenintelligentsia reflected Communist party values, as professional. associations were under party control. The maintenance of such attitudes creates substantial resistance to the transformation of the economy, because a Weberian protestant ethic is lacking. Transition does occur, but the legacy of the old ethic imposes high transaction costs, inefficiencies and inhibits forward direct investment.

Resumo:

A traditional ethic of medicine asserts that physicians have special obligations to individual patients with whom they have a clinical relationship. Contemporary trends in US healthcare financing like bundled payments seem to threaten traditional conceptions of special obligations of individual physicians to individual patients because their population-based focus sets a tone that seems to emphasise responsibilities for groups of patients by groups of physicians in an organisation. Prior to undertaking a cogent debate about the fate and normative weight of special obligations and a traditional ethic for contemporary healthcare, we need a deeper examination of what the traditional ethic of special obligations really means. Here we offer a conception of ‘doubly distributed’ special obligations. Physicians and similarly minded healing professionals abiding by a traditional ethic have always spread their devotion and attention across multiple patients and have shared responsibilities with physician and non-physician colleagues in much the same way devoted parents have frequently distributed their special obligations across multiple children and across multiple parents. By taking up the extended analogy of parent we argue that doubly distributing special obligations need not contradict the possibility of special obligations in restructured collective forms of healthcare delivery and financing.

AbstrakThe objective of the research was to analyze and provide physical evidence: (1) The effect of Experience of auditor on the Audit Qaulity (2) Effect of Professional Auditor Ethics on the Quality of Audit, (3) Effect of Auditor Objectivity on the Quality of Audit, 4) Effect of Auditor Time Deadline Pressure on the Quality Audit, (5) Effect of Experience, Professional Ethics, Objectivity And Time Deadline Pressure simultaneously on the Quality Audit. The research populations were all auditors working at BPKP office, North Sumatra Province. The research samples used were chosen using saturated sampling technique, consisting of 95 respondents with return rate of 100%. The research data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Results of the analysis concluded that the (1) Experience and Professional Auditor Ethics significant positive effect on Audit Quality, (2) Objectivity and Time Deadline Pressure did not have any significant effect on Audit Quality, and (3) Experience, Ethics Profession, Objectivity, And Time Deadline Pressure simultaneously had a significant effect on Audit Quality. Corporate ethics and business ethics are becoming new requirements for a successful business in the 21st century. This trend continues to be strengthened throughout the industries and the construction industry cannot be exceptional. This research provides a practical framework of ethical decision making for construction together with the perceptions of construction professionals in respect to ethics and culture. A project factor approach is incorporated in the framework to reflect the unique feature of construction. The framework is based on Agent (virtue ethics) - Action (deontology) Results (consequentialism) model and the stakeholder concept of construction projects. The framework also intends to identify the ethical directions either mean-oriented or end-oriented. The effectiveness of the framework has been proved through a survey with construction professionals in Malaysia. The survey also includes cultural dimensions as ethic is a subset of culture. The outcomes of the survey shows that the construction professional in Malaysia are slightly more mean-oriented than end-oriented, and their cultural dimensions are more power oriented (PDI), more individualistic (IDV) and more masculine (MAS) compared to the Malaysia national level cultural dimensions.

Background: In the university context, assessing students’ attitude, knowledge and opinions when applying an innovative methodological approach to teach professional ethics becomes fundamental to know if the used approach is enough motivating for students. Research objective: To assess the effect of a blended-learning model, based on professional ethics and related to clinical practices, on physiotherapy students’ attitude, knowledge and opinions towards learning professional ethics. Research design and participants: A simple-blind clinical trial was performed (NLM identifier NCT03241693) (control group, n = 64; experimental group, n = 65). Both groups followed clinical practices for 8 months. Control group performed a public exposition of a clinical case about professional ethics. By contrast, an 8-month blended-learning programme regarding professional ethics was worked out for experimental group. An online syllabus and online activities were elaborated, while face-to-face active participation techniques were performed to discuss ethical issues. Students’ attitudes, knowledge and opinions towards learning professional ethics were assessed. Ethical considerations: The study was approved by the University Ethic Committee of Human Research and followed the ethical principles according to the Declaration of Helsinki. Findings: After the programme, attitudes and knowledge towards learning professional ethics of experimental group students significantly improved, while no differences were observed in control group. Moreover, opinions reported an adequate extension of themes and temporization, importance of clinical practices and interest of topics. Case study method and role playing were considered as the most helpful techniques. Conclusion: The blended-learning programme proposed, based on professional ethics and related to clinical practices, improves physiotherapy students’ attitudes, knowledge and opinions towards learning professional ethics.

By expounding the inseparable relationship between design and engineering ethics, and comparing the current situation of the development of engineering ethics education at home and abroad, we find that there is a big gap between China's design professional education and western developed countries in the training of engineering ethics awareness. It is proposed that the domestic engineering profession, especially the design profession, is in urgent need of cultivating the designer's engineering ethic awareness, so as to improve the professionalism of the design talents and promote the better development of our country's design education.

Sanitary engineering is burdened by several challenges that attract bioethical attention: (1) there are many ambiguities regarding the definition of the profession; (2) its methodology seems to be a combination of several approaches from different sciences; and (3) it often appears to be an amalgam of different disciplines. We argue that the bioethical perspective helps to show that these features can be taken as a stimulating challenge. Moreover, bioethics may illuminate how these features can become an asset to sanitary engineering in light of the growing need for holistic approaches. First, we present a bioethical analysis of the aforementioned features as a useful way to clarify and strengthen the identity of the profession. Second, we argue that professional ethics have received the least attention, but are crucial to giving the profession stronger independence and professional identity and to creating a unique worldview at the crossroads of environmental and public health ethics. Finally, we propose a general framework of sound professional ethics of sanitary engineering as a necessary step towards rethinking the core values of the profession, clearly articulating a genuine professional ethic, and reforming educational politics related to professional education.

The purposes of this study are to find out whether professional auditor has under-stood ethic code values in Accountant Ethic Codes in Indonesia and whether there is correlation between ethic value understandings with decision-making based on moral standard approach.In this study the author uses descriptive and correlational research method. The purpose of descriptive method is to describe facts and the nature of research object systematically, actually and accurately. Whereas the purpose of correla-tional researches to see correlation between independent and dependent variables. The supporting variables used in this research are auditor understands of ethic values (properness, fair and moral value) and auditor's decision making. Primary data gathered from questionnaire, whereas secondary data gathered from literatures, books, reports and other science writing.Based on the result of data analysis, the author concludes the auditors generally are less understood in ethic values as their guidance, thus decision making is not in accondance with the provision of Indonesian Accountant Commission, espe-cially in understanding of accountant ethic codes. In relation to responsible decision-making, the author concludes that there is correlation between ethic values understanding and such decision making. It is affected by properness, fair and moral factors that relate to decision-making.Keywords: ethics, auditor decision, morale

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to research the practice of ethics in Swedish health care organizations using Lean Management. Design/methodology/approach – A qualitative study was conducted. Findings – Findings indicate that ethics is not a consideration when hospitals are implementing Lean Management. Social implications – Organizations generally have diverse value systems when building their codes of professional ethics for examining ethical principles, whereas Lean Management has established base principles with different codes of professional ethics differing from the intrinsic values humans create according to moral philosophy. It could be said that Lean Management relies on minimalistic ethic. While hospitals implement Lean Management, there are still many barriers to resolve to achieve useful implementation. Managing change while emphasizing ethical values could be a success factor for those organizations and their customers. Originality/value – Studying ethical values in Lean Management implementation.

This study analyses the professional-ethic values promoted by education policy in public university education in Mexico, the semantic correspondence of said policy with programs, and the strategies for its implementation. Following the methodology of textual analysis, we reviewed the National Programs of Education, documents that embed the academic plan at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, and the curricula of licenciaturas in the areas of natural science and engineering and technology. It was identified that the core elements of university education are social compromise, professional competence, and education in values. Our findings indicate that there is textual correspondence among the most relevant categories of the documents; however, it is worth pointing out the absence of strategies that explicitly promote student development of professional-ethic values.

In this research, we quantify the difference in correctional officers’ ethical standards, as perceived by both officers and inmates. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and higher order modeling were used to validate the correctional ethics instrument. Group invariance tests at first-order level were applied to examine the invariance structure of conceptualized and operationalized ethics across staff and inmates. The evidence indicates the construct validity of the ethic instrument. Furthermore, correctional officers have a higher perception of their ethical practice than inmates on two of five common dimensions (“professional relationship with inmates” and “use of force”).

When militaries mention loyalty as a value they mean loyalty to colleagues and the organisation. Loyalty to principle, the type of loyalty that has a wider scope, plays hardly a role in the ethics of most armed forces. Where military codes, oaths and values are about the organisation and colleagues, medical ethics is about providing patient care impartially. Being subject to two diverging professional ethics can leave military medical personnel torn between the wish to act loyally towards colleagues, and the demands of a more outward looking ethic. This tension constitutes a test of integrity, not a moral dilemma.

(1) Background: The provision of healthcare is transforming, necessitating changes in descriptions and frameworks for ethical leadership. This study aimed to assess the association of the different leadership skills with the work ethical constructs and attitudes among healthcare professionals. (2) Methods: A cross-sectional study design using a snowball sampling technique was used to enroll healthcare practitioners. The questionnaire used in this study included two parts: the first part gathered the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants, while the second part consisted of three validated assessment scales, i.e., work ethics, ethical attitudes questionnaire for public health professionals, and leadership skills questionnaire. (3) Results: Higher work ethics and a higher intrinsic work motivation subscale were significantly associated with high leadership administrative skills (Beta = 6.04, p = 0.019, and Beta = 2.55, p < 0.001, respectively). However, higher leadership conceptual skills (Beta = −1.07, p = 0.027) were associated with a lower intrinsic work motivation subscale. Higher leadership administrative skills (Beta = 28.39, p < 0.001) were significantly associated with higher ethical attitudes scores. (4) Conclusions: Higher administrative leadership has an imperative positive impact on work ethic in the provision of different public health services. Leadership skills are not limited to a specific profession, experience, or career stage of health care, and could significantly predict the individual ethical attitude and professional behavior.

The events of the Holocaust of European Jews (and others) by the Nazi state between 1939 and 1945 deserve to be remembered and studied by the nursing profession. By approaching literary texts written by Holocaust ‘survivors’ from an interpersonal dimension, a reading of such works can develop an ‘ethic of responsibility’. By focusing on such themes as rationality, duty, witness and the virtues, potential lessons for nurses working with people in a variety of settings can be drawn. Implications for the teaching of nursing ethics are made in the areas of the virtues, relationships, professional ethics and the moral community of nursing.

The digital revolution that accomplished in the world in the last decade, has brought to life many social phenomena, the consequences of which require a multidimensional understanding, primarily from the point of view of socio-psychological and socio-cultural risks. Russian reality is especially risky because of mental and cultural factors shaping its national identity. The aim of the study is massive amounts of information, influencing on the outworld’s numerous communication channels, and first of all, on communication. A special place in this context is the ethics of social responsibility policy of business and commercial advertising which using manipulative techniques that are valid from the standpoint of law, but violating ethical requirements. There remains an insufficient degree of implementation of the principles of ethics in corporate and professional communications of Russia. The authors, using methodological approaches: systemic, deontological and ethic-axiological, held a theoretical and empirical study of large amounts of information on social responsibility of Russian business, commercial advertising, corporate and professional ethics in Russia, taking into account public interests. We studied the results of studies of corporate governance, transparency and business ethics, the ratings of social responsibility, corruption, etc. The systematic approach allowed us to consider integrated communications as a system, a holistic set of interrelated components. Deontological approach to the analysis of business communications is the nitial source of the rating of such categories as proper, perfect, multifunctional, and normative. Ethic-axiological approach allows to evaluate actual and desired. There remains the question of the relationship between the two main categories of ethics — duty and the good. The authors concluded that there needed an optimization of the process of ethical regulation of business communication in modern Russia.

Within libraries, a patron’s intellectual activities are protected by decades of established norms and practices intended to preserve patron privacy and confidentiality, most stemming from the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights and related interpretations. As a matter of professional ethics, most librarians protect patron privacy by engaging in limited tracking of user activities, instituting short-term data retention policies, and generally enabling the anonymous browsing of materials. These are the existing privacy norms within the library context, and the cornerstone of what makes up the “librarian ethic.”

This research aims to determine the influence of Islamic work ethic on a professional commitment with the organizational commitment as a intervening variable on the banker PT. Bank BRIsyariah in North Sumatera region. The data collection method used in this study is to use a questionnaire that uses a Likert scale. The population used in this study was 106 people with banker characteristics that have worked for more than 1 year. The sample in this study equals the total population of 106 samples using sampling techniques based on purposive sampling. By using the path Analysis of the research results shows that Islamic work ethics is positive and significant to the commitment of the profession of Bankers Brisyariah in North Sumatera region. The Organization's commitment is to promote the influence of Islamic work ethics on the professional commitment of bankers of BRIsyariah in North Sumatera.significant effect on the work effectiveness of the Harapan Harapan Companion Program.

The precautionary principle is a sustainable development principle that attempts to articulate an ethic in decision making since it deals with the notion of uncertainty of harm. Uncertainty becomes a weakness when it has to serve as a predictor by which to take action. Since humans are responsible for their actions, and ethics is based in action, then decisions based in uncertainty require an ethical framework. Beyond the professional deontological responsibility, there is a need to consider the process of conception based on an ethic of the future and therefore to develop a new ethical framework which is more global and fundamental. This will expose the justifications for choices, present these in debates with other stakeholders, and ultimately adopt an axiology of decision making for conception. Responsibility and participative discourse for an equal justice among actors are a basis of such an ethic. By understanding the ethical framework of this principle and applying this knowledge towards design or innovation, the precautionary principle becomes operational. This paper suggests that to move towards sustainability, stakeholders must adopt decision making processes that are precautionary. Purpose This paper aims to advocate the development and re-emphasis of “epistemic virtue” in relevant professional ethical codes so that attention is re-focussed on the responsibility of relevant professionals to close windows of opportunity for financial wrongdoing and money laundering that are left open through the widespread practice of “wilful blindness”. Design/methodology/approach This study is an exploration of the duty to know or find out in the accountancy profession via discussion and illustration of how failures in this field contributed to the financial crash; a relation of these failures to “seek the truth” to the concept of “epistemic virtue”; and a discussion of how a lack of epistemic virtue is a necessary condition for the successful practice of money laundering. Findings This paper considers the case for establishing a new framework for recalibrating the professional ethic model so that the primacy of outward looking attitudes to knowledge is re-established at the heart of professional ethics. Research limitations/implications The paper advocates the adoption of specific training on outward looking epistemic values in all financially related professional bodies. Practical implications Review of ethical standards in the professions is required to ensure epistemic virtues are given due weight and prominence within them. Social implications The accumulation of criminal capital under legitimate guises by serious organised crime requires poses an ongoing threat to the integrity of economic markets. A key step to improving defences against this threat is the elevation of epistemic virtue in the professions. Originality/value To raise awareness and prominence of epistemic virtue as a necessary component of professional integrity.
