We give the complete characterization of members of Kaplan classes of products of power functions with all zeros symmetrically distributed in \(\mathbb{T} := \{z \in\mathbb{C} : |z| = 1\}\) and weakly monotonic sequence of powers. In this way we extend Sheil-Small’s theorem. We apply the obtained result to study univalence of antiderivative of these products of power functions.

AbstractLet I(μ, Κ) denote the number of nonisomorphic models of power μ and IE(μ, Κ) the number of nonmutually embeddable models. We define in this paper the notion of a diverse class and use it to prove a number of results. The major result is Theorem B: For any diverse class Κ and μ greater than the cardinality of the language of Κ,From it we deduce both an old result of Shelah, Theorem C: If T is countable and λ0 > ℵ0 then for every μ > ℵ0, IE(μ, T) ≥ min(2μ, ⊐2), and an extension of that result to uncountable languages, Theorem D: If ∣T∣ < 2ωλ0 > ∣T∣, and ∣D(T)∣ = ∣T∣ then for μ > ∣T∣,

Abstract For the classification problem of power event monitoring data, manual rules are mainly used to recognize the known classes of events, and new classes of events cannot be extracted by using existing manual rules. But new classes may emerge with the upgrading of power equipment and traditional representation of this time series data is not proper for the task. To solve this issue, we introduce an effective approach that includes three parts: i) embed the raw object of power event in semantic space ii) learn the representation of power event with multi-level. iii) detect new classes, classify old classes, and update models to classify both new classes and old classes. Experiments on real power event monitoring dataset demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods.

The power of any information system technology is delimited by the expressiveness of the notation used to represent information. Classification constitutes a fundamental notational structuring mechanism and, not surprisingly, is supported in one form or another by many formal notations intended for data or knowledge modelling. This paper presents an overview of various manifestations of classification mechanisms. Further, characteristic features of classification, such as the form of inheritance allowed from classes to instances, having single or multiple classifications and the structure of the classification hierarchy are identified, discussed, and contrasted. The paper also describes the classification mechanism offered by the knowledge representation language Telos. In Telos, classification is stratified and applicable not only to objects but also to (binary) relationships. The paper argues that these features lead to a more expressive notation, acquired at relatively modest conceptual and computational costs.

Abstract Every parasport is currently encouraged to consider evidence-based classification to develop their respective classification system. Therefore, the aims of this study were to: (1) assess the relationship between trunk function and anaerobic power determining proficiency in wheelchair basketball, and (2) define “natural classes” in wheelchair basketball based on anaerobic power. Fifty-nine elite players (representing five national teams) were divided into four main functional classes: Group 1 (n=17), Group 2 (n=14), Group 3 (n=16), Group 4 (n=12). They performed the 6x10s Anaerobic Power Test using an arm crank ergometer. Average values of mean power, peak power, relative mean power, relative peak power, and power decrement were calculated for the 6x10s and 3x10s tests. The Spearman’s correlation matrix revealed significant correlations between classes and values recorded in the 6x10s test. This confirmation between anaerobic power and players’ classification endorses the division of players into different classes. Furthermore, cluster analysis (with fair quality) divided players into two “natural classes”. The first resulting class was mainly formed of participants from Group 1 (71%). An important complement to this research could be to consider wheelchair acceleration and the volume of trunk action in wheelchair basketball classification.

This paper is a sequel to papers dealing with time parameters of solar flares in the Hα line. Using data from the international flare patrol for 1972–2010, we have determined the mean duration of flares of different importance and classes of area. We have established that 94.6 % of flares last more than 60 min. The duration of 90 % of flares with min is 2.1–3.3 hrs. In rare cases, flares can last about 12 hrs. The duration of powerful solar flares does not exceed 8.3 hrs. We have found that the duration of solar flares depends on features of their development. Flares with one brilliant point in the flare region have the shortest duration; two-ribbon flares and flares exhibiting several intensity maxima have the longest duration. We have confirmed that the duration of flares increases with increasing classes of area and brightness.

The Coping Power Program has been adapted as a universal prevention model (Coping Power Universal) aimed to reduce children's behavioral difficulties in Italian primary and nursery classes. The current study aimed to determine whether the version of the Universal Coping Power for pre-schoolers could reduce behavioral problems in school and home contexts, and could produce transfer effects on children's pre-academic skills. The sample included 102 five-year-old children who attended six pre-school classes located in Rovigo (Italy). Classes were randomly assigned to the intervention or to the control condition. Both parents and teachers indicated a significant reduction in behavioral problems for Coping Power classes, and teachers rated improvement in children's pre-mathematics, and language abilities. The results of this study are promising, suggesting pre-schoolers' social-emotional and pre-academic skills may benefit from the Universal Coping Power program.

AbstractSeveral classes of distributions of power series type with finite and infinite radii of convergence are considered. For such distributions local limit theorems are obtained as the parameter of distribution tends to the right end of the interval of convergence. For the case when the convergence radius equals to 1, we prove an integral limit theorem on the convergence of distributions of random variables (1 − x)ξxas x → 1− to the gamma-distribution (ξx is a random variable with corresponding distribution of the power series type). The proofs are based on the steepest descent method.

This study empirically analyzes the relationship between the multicultural learning variables and the learning effects of classics reading lessons regarding Korean and foreign students. The t-test, cross tabulation table, and discriminant analysis showed that Korean students improved their logical thinking power and became more interested than foreign students through the classic reading classes. The regression analysis showed that the recognition variables such as interest level, importance, necessity, and the reading of the classics did not influence the learning effects of classics reading class in regards to the necessity of the classics and the satisfaction level derived from classics reading classes. However, the improvement in presentation and the power of expression, logical thinking power, and the interest in the classic classes did affect the learning effects of classics reading class. As for the path analysis, while the recognition variable regarding the importance of the classics did not directly affect the learning effects of the classics reading classes, it appeared to indirectly influence the learning effects via the mediate variables of the enhancement of presentation and power of expression, logical thinking power, and the interest in these classic reading classes.

This paper will describe the use of embedded die technologies for various application fields. The main focus of the paper will be the development work within the European funded project EmPower, which concentrates on power electronic applications. Here, three different power levels are of interest:50W single die packages with fast rectifier diodes500W power modules for electric bicycle application50kW power modules for HEV and EV application All three application fields are based on a similar concept. The so called power core provides the base for the package/module. This power core contains the embedded semiconductor(s) and is manufactured using printed circuit board processing on a large panel format of 18 by 24 inches. Electrical contacts to the embedded dies are made by laser drilled micro vias and copper filling. A major advantage of such a direct copper contact, compared to the conventionally used wire bond, is its high reliability and the improved electrical performance. By the reduction of the inductance of these interconnects, switching losses can be reduced significantly, allowing an improved and faster switching. For the higher power modules additionally thermal management is required. Here a construction of IMS substrates and the power core is chosen. This construction enables a double sided cooling and also the electrical isolation of the module to the cooler. The connection between power core and IMS substrates is made by low temperature and low pressure Ag sintering. All three applications fields will be described in detail. This will cover the development of the manufacturing process for all three power class demonstrators, as well as detailed structural analysis and reliability testing. The development work toward highly reliable modules will be discussed in depth. Finally the resulting demonstrators for 50W, 500W and 50kW power application and their characteristics will be presented in detail.

Our goal is to describe a , where h is a ‘small' perturbation function. Such a class S consists of different distributions Fε (fε is the density of Fε) all sharing the same moments as those of F, thus illustrating the nonuniqueness of F, and of any Fε, in terms of the moments. Power transformations of distributions such as the normal, log-normal and exponential are considered and for them Stieltjes classes written explicitly. We define a characteristic of S called an index of dissimilarity and calculate its value in some cases. A new Stieltjes class involving a power of the normal distribution is presented. An open question about the inverse Gaussian distribution is formulated. Related topics are briefly discussed.

Physical activity (PA) classes help college students add weekly PA, which can help improve health and maintain body weight. Traditional weight training (TWT) can improve strength and aerobic capacity. High-intensity functional training such as CrossFit® (CF) provides time-efficient workouts with both muscle strengthening and aerobic exercises. Limited research has compared these classes for college students. We examined changes in muscular strength, power, and endurance as well as body composition. Participants were 85 healthy college students enrolled in TWT (n = 36, age 22.6 ± 4.1 years, 72.2% male) or CF (n = 49, age 21.8 ± 3.2 years, 55.1% male) classes meeting twice/wk for 8 weeks between October 2017 and May 2018. Baseline and posttest measurements included a vertical jump, grip strength, a 2 min push-up test, a 1 min squat test, height, weight, and a bioelectrical impedance analysis. Although no significant group × time interactions were found, there was a significant main effect of time for push-ups and squats (both p < 0.001). Participants enjoyed the classes and most planned to continue. Both classes improved muscular endurance although no significant differences were found between them. Activity classes provide college students with an option for increasing their weekly PA and help maintain body composition. Future research should examine the benefits from longer or more frequent classes.

An electronic database has been created for 123801 solar flares that occurred on the Sun over the period from 1972 to 2010. It is based on catalogs of the Solar Geophysical Data (SGD) and Quarterly Bulletin on Solar Activity. A software package has been used for statistical data preprocessing. The first results revealed a number of new features in the distribution of parameters of solar flares, which differ from those obtained previously. We have found that more than 90% of all solar flares are low-power. The most numerous class comprises SF flares (64%). Flare activity shows a pronounced cyclicity and high correlation with Wolf numbers. The highest correlation coefficients indicate S and 1 solar flares. There is also a high correlation between individual flare classes: S and 1, 1 and (2–4). The results obtained previously [Mitra et al., 1972] which provide evidence of the prevalence of SN solar flares (47%) and the existence of significant peaks for SN and 1N flares, have not been confirmed. The distribution of the number of solar flares with increasing optical importance smoothly decreases without significant deviations. With increasing optical importance, solar flares are gradually redistributed toward an increase in brightness class. The excess of the number of SN and 1N solar flares present in the distributions obtained in [Mitra et al., 1972] are most likely associated with poor statistics.
