We propose a style of hand postures to trigger commands on a laptop. The key idea is to perform hand-postures while keeping the hands on, beside, or below the keyboard, to align with natural laptop usage. 36 hand-posture variations are explored considering three resting locations, left or right hand, open or closed hand, and three wrist rotation angles. A 30-participant formative study measures posture preferences and generates a dataset of nearly 350K images under different lighting conditions and backgrounds. A deep learning recognizer achieves over 97% accuracy when classifying all 36 postures with 2 additional non-posture classes for typing and non-typing. A second experiment with 20 participants validates the recognizer under real-time usage and compares posture invocation time with keyboard shortcuts. Results find low error rates and fast formation time, indicating postures are close to current typing and pointing postures. Finally, practical use case demonstrations are presented, and further extensions discussed.

Purpose Sitting in a chair is a typical act of modern people. Prolonged sitting and sitting with improper postures can lead to musculoskeletal disorders. Thus, there is a need for a sitting posture classification monitoring system that can predict a sitting posture. The purpose of this paper is to develop a system for classifying children’s sitting postures for the formation of correct postural habits. Design/methodology/approach For the data analysis, a pressure sensor of film type was installed on the seat of the chair, and image data of the postu.re were collected. A total of 26 children participated in the experiment and collected image data for a total of seven postures. The authors used convolutional neural networks (CNN) algorithm consisting of seven layers. In addition, to compare the accuracy of classification, artificial neural networks (ANN) technique, one of the machine learning techniques, was used. Findings The CNN algorithm was used for the sitting position classification and the average accuracy obtained by tenfold cross validation was 97.5 percent. The authors confirmed that classification accuracy through CNN algorithm is superior to conventional machine learning algorithms such as ANN and DNN. Through this study, we confirmed the applicability of the CNN-based algorithm that can be applied to the smart chair to support the correct posture in children. Originality/value This study successfully performed the posture classification of children using CNN technique, which has not been used in related studies. In addition, by focusing on children, we have expanded the scope of the related research area and expected to contribute to the early postural habits of children.

Background. A review of the health and physical activity of children and teenagers in Lithuania over the last twenty years has shown that many aspects of pupil physical capacity have deteriorated between 1992 and 2012 (Venckunas, Emeljanovas, Mieziene, & Volbekiene, 2017). Also research has shown that musculoskeletal disorders were most commonly found in children aged 4 to 6 years (Daniusevičiutė-Brazaitė & Grėbliauskienė, 2019). Therefore, if these negative trends continue, the growing health problems will pose a greater threat to human well-being and become a serious financial burden for the state and society. Currently technologies are an integral part of everyday life, so the need for interactive games or animated programs cannot be doubted. Research (Lobel, Engels, Stone, Burk, & Granic, 2017) has shown that the use of play-based intervention for children significantly improves fine and visual motor performance. Hence, it is important to identify the possible factors affecting pre-school children’s irregular posture formation. Methods. The study included 377 preschool children from 4 to 6 years old. Three evaluations were performed in the study: posture (using W. K. Hoeger posture assessment methodology), abdominal and back muscle endurance, and balance (Arcinavičius,, Kesminas, & Milčarek, 2004). Results. Assessing the results of the shoulder position of 5-year-old children, results showed that only 16% had good shoulder posture, satisfactory – 74%, bad – 10%. Age was found to have no effect on posture assessment results. According to the study, balance, back, and abdominal functional capacity were better in 6-year-old children. Conclusion. After analyzing 4-year old children group torso, abdomen, lower spine and legs, we can see that a higher percentage of children had a satisfactory posture in the aforementioned body parts. According to the posture results, the most abnormal part of the body was the abdomen. The study data showed that 6-year-old subjects’ balance, lower spine and abdominal performance were better compared to other age groups. Keywords: preschool child, physical activity, posture.

We show that under natural viewing, the responses of cells in the temporal lobe of the macaque to the sight of static head and body postures is controlled by the sight of immediately preceding actions. Cells in the anterior part of the superior temporal sulcus responded vigorously to the sight of a face or body posture that followed a particular body action, but not when it followed other actions. The effective action or posture presented in isolation or in different sequences failed to produce a response. Our results demonstrate that cells in the temporal cortex could support the formation of expectations about impending behavior of others.

The work is devoted to the definition of anatomical and physiological features of the formation of the movement culture of schoolchildren. The relevance of the issue of increasing the effectiveness of physical exercise classes for primary school girls with postural disorders is substantiated and is the formation of a culture of movements. It has been established that postural disorders are a prerequisite for the appearance of accompanying diseases and abnormalities in physical development and negatively affect the culture of movements, distorting the physique, plasticity of movements, gait, impair motor achievements during physical exercises, lead to a decrease in motivation for motor activity, negatively affect well-being children, lead to the emergence of psychological complexes and complicate socialization in the student body. According to the index method, which included the determination of the shoulder index, which characterizes the level of stooping (kyphotic posture), and the index of vertical curvature of the spine, which indicates the presence of scoliotic posture, it was found that 26.3% of schoolgirls have various posture disorders, while 82 of them .8% of girls have slouching (kyphotic posture), the other 17.2% of schoolgirls have scoliotic posture in various variants of vertical curvature of the spine. Since the level of some motor indicators indirectly determines the culture of girls' movements and affects the formation of a posture stereotype, pedagogical testing of various types of strength, coordination abilities and flexibility of elementary school students was conducted. At the same time, a significant difference was recorded between the motor development of schoolgirls with various postural disorders in the indicators of strength endurance of the muscles of the abdomen, back, flexibility, plasticity and static balance of healthy girls and schoolgirls with postural disorders. The conducted linear correlation analysis using the Pearson method between posture indicators and movement indicators showed a reliable relationship of moderate strength between the posture indicator and some movement indicators, which justifies the need to develop a methodology for teaching the movement culture of elementary school students with posture disorders in the process of physical education.

Introduction. Workplaces of adolescents in school may create risk factors for disorders of the musculoskeletal system, which affect the work ability and quality of future life. The aim of this study was to assess the rationality of the working posture of adolescents at school using the analysis of goniometric indicators. Materials and methods. A total of 414 jobs were studied: 244 primary school children and 170 senior school children. Plots of working postures of teenagers were constructed, and goniometric indicators were compared with the recommended ranges. Results. Almost all goniometric indicators were found to have deviations from the recommended ranges, none of the adolescents had all 8 or at least 7 goniometric indicators included in the range of recommended values, which leads to the formation of an irrational working posture.

Background. Insufficient back muscle tone of 6–7-year-old children does not guarantee stable spin curves. The preschool children’s posture is an important society problem that raises the scientists interest (Okely, Trost, Steele, Cliff, & Mickle, 2009), when posture is formed during the pre-school period and taking into account fine motor skills peculiarities, it is possible to ensure the optimal movement function (Rodger & Vishram, 2010). The purpose of this study was to identify the need for animated play programs and risk factors for the development of about 4–7-year-old children’s abnormal posture. Methods. We analysed annual preventive health collaborating with public health professionals and pre-school medical personnel. Two social surveys were conducted using an anonymous online questionnaire for respondents. The first survey included questions to parents/caregivers (interpersonal level) in order to establish the psychomotor development of children up to one year of age and possible causes of abnormal posture formation. The second survey had questions to the kindergarten educators and administration (organizational level) in order to find out the need for animated play programs in the educational process. The survey questions were based on the child’s motor development principles. Research participants were 311 parents/caregivers and 117 kindergarten educators. Anonymous online surveys were conducted between October and December of 2018. Results. According to the analysis of annual preventive health indicators, less than half of the pre-school age children were healthy in Kaunas city and with the age the number of healthy children decreased. Analysis of preventive health checks in pre-school children showed that skeletal muscle disorders were most common in children aged 4 to 6 years. Parents/caregivers, kindergarten educators and the administration indicated that physical activity had a positive effect on the child’s posture in the educational institution, but parents/caregivers had doubts that kindergarten had a favourable environment for the child’s posture correction. Conclusion. As a result, most kindergarten educators and administrators as well as parents/caregivers believed that animated play programs in kindergarten would help to improve posture.

The article identifies the causes of deviations in the development of posture in children of primary school age and characterizes the influence of this pathology on the health and physical development of schoolchildren. The necessity of development of coordination of movements in children of 6-10 years old, as well as its role in the formation of posture, prevention and correction of its defects has been substantiated. The modern approaches to the development of the motor function of schoolchildren with postural disorders are disclosed. The specificity of the action of physical exercises for the formation of the correct motor stereotype of the posture of students is highlighted, the features of the influence of dosed muscle tensions for the prevention and correction of the posture of younger students are characterized. During primary school age it is important to form the correct posture, prevent and prevent various deformities of the spine, as well as the use of dosed muscle tension and skills to maintain physiologically correct torso position in the sagittal plane and symmetrical spine position in the front to eliminate deviations in posture development at the initial stages of the ir appearance. The degree of development and opportunities for improvement of the motor sphere of children is limited by the presence of disorders of the functional activity of sensory and physiological systems of the body, including disorders of the musculoskeletal system, which include deviations in posture development. Lag in the development of motor skills of children increases the risk of forming an incorrect motor stereotype of posture and vice versa, in children with deviations in posture development there is a complication of motor skills, insufficient development of certain muscle groups, impaired balance, coordination. There are no medical contraindications to exercise in children of primary school age with postural disorders. Formation of motor function of junior schoolchildren with posture disorders involves the use of dosed exercise for the development of musculoskeletal sensitivity, development of rational flexibility of the spine, strengthening muscle groups of the muscular corset, normalization of torso muscle tone, taking into account the type of posture disorder. The development of coordination of movements of junior schoolchildren is a necessary condition for consolidating physiologically correct tors o positions while maintaining a stable posture and movement.

OBJECTIVE: Determine the prevalence of postural edema and investigate whether working posture - sitting down or standing up - affect its frequency. METHODS: Sixteen traffic control agents were assessed by water displacement volumetry and the results were analyzed in two groups, depending on working posture. Those who worked standing up for more than 4 hours were allocated to the SU group and those who worked sitting down for more than 4 hours were allocated to the SD group. Each worker was assessed before and after their working shift for three consecutive days. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and the test of equality of two proportions. The significance level was set at p ≤ 0.05. The assessment showed that members of both groups had postural edema of the lower extremities (p ≤ 0.001). RESULTS: When the frequency of postural edema was compared across groups, a trend was observed for greater edema formation in the SU group than in the SD group, although without statistically significant difference. CONCLUSION: It was concluded that traffic control agents suffer postural edema after 4 hours working in either of the postures investigated although with a predominance of edema formation among those who work standing up.

The purpose of the experimental study was the development and testing of a set of special exercises that form the correct wasp nku in physical education classes at the university. The period of posture formation is quite wide and covers the age up to 18 years. years However, most of the studies devoted to postural disorders are aimed at studying this problem in children of preschool and primary school age, undeservedly avoiding the spread of this problem among student youth. On the one hand, this is due to the fact that at an earlier age, before the appearance of pronounced violations, the process of correction and prevention of posture violations is implemented more effectively, and on the other hand, the complexity of work organization and the low motivation of this category of people to engage in physical education. The goal was concretized through the formulation of a number of tasks: to identify the degree of posture disorders in first-year students, to develop and try a set of physical exercises aimed at correcting posture disorders, evaluate the effectiveness of work on the formation of correct posture for physical education. The study consisted of three stages: ascertaining, formative, control. The results of the study of the degree of posture disorders at the control stage indicate that the number of children in the experimental group with normal posture increased in the process of purposeful work. Based on the results of the primary research, a set of special physical exercises and outdoor games was compiled, aimed at correcting students’ posture disorders in the experimental group. Within the framework of physical culture, the dosing of the load was carried out by changing the tempo, amplitude, number of movements, as well as by burdening and resistance. After each lesson, students were given homework, which they had to do on their own at home. Special exercises were included in various forms of physical culture work at the university: in physical education, gymnastics before classes, in physical education in the classroom, physical education activities for an extended break x. Complexes of special physical exercises and outdoor games, conducted with first-year students in physical culture classes, positively influenced the formation of correct posture.

The article examines the peculiarities of the level of physical fitness of girls aged 11-15 who have postural disorders. A comparative characterization of the indicators of motor readiness of girls with and without postural disorders was also carried out. The influence of motor activity on the formation of correct posture and improvement of physical health was studied. The content of the concept of "posture disorders" was analyzed and it was established that posture is an important comprehensive indicator of the state of health and harmonious physical development of each person. And the correct posture ensures an optimal position and normal activity of internal organs, creating the best conditions for the activity of the entire body. It was determined that the physical fitness indicators of girls with postural disorders are significantly lower than those of their peers without postural disorders. The main reasons that contribute to the development of hypodynamism among schoolchildren, which negatively affects their posture, have been clarified. A reliable difference was established between the level of physical fitness of elementary school students with different posture development. It is emphasized that options for solving this problem are possible due to the intensive use of all means of physical culture. It was concluded that the majority of elementary school students have a sedentary lifestyle, which negatively affects their psycho-emotional and somatic state, and as a result, low and moderate physical fitness is observed. Therefore, this problem requires the search for new ways and methods of prevention and elimination of damaged locomotor apparatus during the child's development, taking into account their physical fitness, mortality, anthropometric, psychological and individual characteristics. Purpose This paper aims to identify the differentiated paths followed by firms to innovate in business models, among four different strategic postures and also to determine the innovation interactions between business model components, among strategic postures. The authors intend to highlight the differentiated patterns of business model innovation (BMI) in each strategic posture and provide guidance to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) managers regarding the suitable alignments of business model components when they innovate in their business model. Design/methodology/approach The research model developed and tested in this work uses a composite model that borrows from the logic of Miles and Snow’s cycle of adaptive strategic choices as well as Demil and Lecocq’s perspective of permanent change within and between components of a business model. The authors’ model is designed first to encompass the differentiated patterns characterizing the relationships between the strategic posture of defender, prospector and analyzer profiles and the related innovation attributes of their business model components. The study was conducted with independent French manufacturing SMEs ranging from 10 to 250 employees in size and having revenues below €50m (European Commission, 2007). The analysed sample includes 169 firms from 14 sectors representative of French manufacturing SMEs. Findings Results confirm the differentiated propensity to adopt specific BMI behaviours among strategic postures. The authors also highlight the differentiated interactions between and within BMI components. These results suggest that SMEs tend to leverage specific BMI components related to their entrepreneurial, engineering and administrative choices. Thus, firms tend to evolve in a posture-specific, path-dependent dynamic consistency in which BMI attributes interact towards a limited set of alternatives, thus anchoring the new business model into strategic choices. It has been shown that the predictability of strategy–BMI alignment is contingent on the level of fit between empirically derived strategic profile attributes and Miles and Snow’s ideal profile attributes. Research limitations/implications This paper investigates strategy–BMI alignments without addressing such alignments from the standpoint of firm performance. Still, performance from a BMI perspective lies in the ability of the firm to sustain the dynamic consistency of its business model components by identifying the effects of change in interactions between and within components on overall BM performance. Further studies should explore dynamic consistency as a means for firms to generate and maintain performance by innovating in their business model when facing specific contingencies. The conceptual framework designed for the present research seems appropriate for conducting such an investigation on the performance implications of strategy–BMI fit. Practical implications This research offers insights regarding manufacturing SMEs seeking guidance when changing business strategy. Indeed, by combining Miles and Snow’s configurational framework of strategic postures with Demil and Lecocq’s RCOV BM framework, the authors provide insights that can bridge the gap between intended strategy and realized strategy. The authors suggest that when realizing new strategic choices, SMEs should favour behaviours of BMI that are likely to fit the new intended strategic posture. Accordingly, the authors introduce a set of field-based BMI alignments specific to firms’ strategic posture to support the strategic management of innovation in SMEs. Originality/value By unravelling the alignments between strategic posture and business model innovation, this work contributes to enlightening the dynamics of Miles and Snow’s adaptive cycle. Indeed, viewing Miles and Snow’s typology from the configurational perspective of BMI provides a clearer picture of the adaptive cycle through which BMI reflects the path-dependent process of the formation of the firm’s strategic posture through the transformation of its business model.

In his prose and poetry, George Herbert assumes that the body and soul are inextricably interrelated, and what one does with one significantly affects the other. This has a profound influence on the process of spiritual growth or sanctification. The article begins with demonstrating from Herbert’s work the importance of external behavior (particularly posture) to spiritual formation. However, while attention to posture and behavior is necessary, it may not be sufficient for personal transformation. Herbert’s prose and poetry demonstrate that positive spiritual formation requires the help of supernatural power.

In the preschool period, the basics of mental and physical health of the child are formed, certain character traits are formed, vital skills and abilities are acquired. Currently, there are various methods of corrective gymnastics. However, they are usually not diverse and emotional. Many exercises are boring, monotonous and reluctant to be performed by children. Therefore, such means of physical education are of interest, which not only contribute to the functional improvement of the child's body, but also provide a comprehensive educational effect, are bright, expressive, emotional. The purpose of the study: to develop a method of forming the correct posture in a preschool institution. Research methods: analysis of scientific and methodological literature; pedagogical observation and experiment; determining the state of posture; examination of the condition of the foot; methods of mathematical statistics. Results of the research. The analysis of special scientific and scientific-methodical literature showed that the increase in the number of children with postural disorders determined the need to find effective ways to correct them in preschool, and the integrated use of various means of physical education requires a perfect planning system. their elements and make the most of positive traits in the learning process. In the course of research the technique of formation of the correct posture with complex use of various equipment is developed. The technique consists of 7 sets of morning gymnastics, which are performed for two weeks each. When selecting the means of physical education for the correction of posture disorders follow the principles: mobilization of the spine; spinal traction; curvature of the spine in the direction of curvature; creating a muscular corset; unloading of the spine. Conclusion. After the experiment, there is an increase in children with normal posture and foot by 10% in the experimental group. In the control changes in any direction is not observed.

For several decades the problem of prevention and correction of posture disorders in primary school children has not lost its relevance. Statistics show that 68-94 % of primary school students have posture disorders. A special place in the classification of posture disorders is occupied by a scoliotic posture. Such a statement indicates that health improving physical education does not fully solve the tasks assigned to it. Analysis of literature sources allowed us to establish two main reasons for the low effectiveness of prevention and correction of scoliotic posture in primary school children. The first reason relates to the low effectiveness of early diagnosis scoliotic posture, and the second reason is low overage of the aspects of the problem, revealing the model of periodization of fitness training with the children in the theory and practice of physical culture. The results of previous studies have allowed us to suggest ways to improve the effectiveness of prevention and correction of scoliotic posture in primary school children, namely: to expand the range of traditional methods of early diagnosis of scoliotic posture through motor and postural diagnostics; to use a nonlinear model of periodization of physical activity to create optimal conditions for leveling muscle imbalance and the formation of rational motor automatisms and patterns in the context of health training.

The purpose of the present study was to reveal the relationship between degenerative changes in the cervical spine, head and neck postures, neck pain, and bone mineral density (BMD) of the total hip, femoral neck, and lumbar spine in post-menopausal females. In total, 116 females (mean age 60.4 ± 7.1 years; age range 50–80 years) were included. Participants were classified into three groups based on the T-score criteria of the total hip, femoral neck, and lumbar spine set by World Health Organization, respectively. The degree of neck pain was assessed using self-administered questionnaire, the Neck Disability Index. Cervical spine degeneration and head and neck postures were identified using the lateral cephalograms. Grading system for cervical degeneration included three categories of the radiographic alterations including disc height loss, osteophyte formation, and diffuse sclerosis. The areal BMD of the total hip, femoral neck, and lumbar spine were determined using dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry. Females with lower BMD exhibited lesser degree of neck pain and forward head posture (FHP) compared to those with normal BMD. Higher BMD seemed to be associated with more notable loss of the disc height at the level of C4-5. More prominent degenerative changes in the cervical spine were associated with higher areal BMD of the hip, femoral neck, and lumbar spine, altered head posture, and development of neck pain.

Using modern ichnological and stratigraphic tools, we reinvestigate two iconic sauropodomorph-attributed tetradactyl ichnogenera, Pseudotetrasauropus and Tetrasauropus, and their stratigraphic occurrences in the middle Upper Triassic of Lesotho. These tracks have been reaffirmed and are stratigraphically well-constrained to the lower Elliot Formation (Stormberg Group, Karoo Basin) with a maximum depositional age range of <219–209 Ma (Norian). This represents the earliest record of basal sauropodomorph trackways in Gondwana, if not globally. Track and trackway morphology, the sedimentary context of the tracks, and unique features (e.g., drag traces) have enabled us to discuss the likely limb postures and gaits of the trackmakers. Pseudotetrasauropus has bipedal (P. bipedoida) and quadrupedal (P. jaquesi) trackway states, with the oldest quadrupedal Pseudotetrasauropus track and trackway parameters suggestive of a columnar, graviportal limb posture in the trackmaker. Moreover, an irregularity in the intermanus distance and manus orientation and morphology, in combination with drag traces, is indicative of a non-uniform locomotory suite or facultative quadrupedality. Contrastingly, Tetrasauropus, the youngest trackway, has distinctive medially deflected, robust pedal and manual claw traces and a wide and uniform intermanus distance relative to the interpedal. These traits suggest a quadrupedal trackmaker with clawed and fleshy feet and forelimbs held in a wide, flexed posture. Altogether, these trackways pinpoint the start of the southern African ichnological record of basal sauropodomorphs with bipedal and quadrupedal locomotory habits to, at least, c. 215 Ma in the middle Late Triassic.

Objective. The main objective of the study is to assess the knowledge of parents/guardians about body posture defects in children at early school age. During the study, additional objectives were set regarding the determination of the level of parents’ knowledge in selected topics. These topics concerned the type of body posture defects in children, factors influencing their formation, as well as determining the knowledge of parents in the use of preventive measures. Material and methods. The study group consisted of 300 parents of children at early school age. The study was conducted on the basis of an original, anonymous questionnaire consisting of 24 questions. Respondents provided answers to questions concerning, among others, the source of obtaining information on posture defects, knowledge of individual posture defects and methods of prevention. Results. The study showed that people living in larger towns/cities and having higher education have a wider range of knowledge in the field of body posture defects. In addition, respondents with higher education know and use posture defect prevention methods much more often than people with lower education. According to the respondents, wearing a backpack on one shoulder is one of the most common causes of posture defects. Parents who do not know whether their child has a posture defect relatively rarely use preventive methods.

Computational calculation is conducted to evaluate the effects of the swimmers posture and swimsuit on the hydrodynamic performance using the Fluent code. Both steady and unsteady models are applied on a 2D geometry. It is found that the swimmers posture and swimsuit play an important role on the hydrodynamic performance. The unsteady modeling reveals the vortex formation, development and separation behind the feet, and predicts the variation of the forces on the swimmer by time. The results provide a basis theoretically for the swimmer to understand the effects of posture and swimsuit on the resistive force, and then to provide tools for the optimization of underwater swimming.

Abstract Side scan sonar measurement platform, affected by underwater environment and its own motion precision, inevitably has posture and motion disturbance, which greatly affects accuracy of geomorphic image formation. It is difficult to sensitively and accurately capture these underwater disturbances by relying on auxiliary navigation devices. In this paper, we propose a method to invert motion and posture information of the measurement platform by using the matching relation between the strip images. The inversion algorithm is the key link in the image mosaic frame of side scan sonar, and the acquired motion posture information can effectively improve seabed topography and plotting accuracy and stability. In this paper, we first analyze influence of platform motion and posture on side scan sonar mapping, and establish the correlation model between motion, posture information and strip image matching information. Then, based on the model, a reverse neural network is established. Based on input, output of neural network, design of and test data set, a motion posture inversion mechanism based on strip image matching information is established. Accuracy and validity of the algorithm are verified by the experimental results.

One of the most discussed problems today is the postural hygiene of school students. The article reports the results of a questionnaire survey on perceptions and awareness about risk factors, postural health, and pro-health behaviors of children. The study aims to understand what parents know about correct posture and how they participate in the preservation of children’s postural health. The results of the survey show that most parents have a correct awareness about signs of correct posture, walking, and sitting and also understand the importance of the way children wear school bags and correctly selected clothing and shoes. However, the answers to questions about children’s health-oriented behavior indicate that children do not spend enough time in the fresh air outside of school and ignore outside physical education classes and morning exercises and also demonstrate a low level of parents’ control of correct posture in various activities of children. At the same time, the respondents are ready to obtain knowledge and pay attention to this issue. The results of the questionnaire confirm the need to organize training and methodological support for teachers and parents in issues of disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the formation of correct posture in children.

Preschool children are in a period of the most intense growth and development, and this is also a period when physical education can be used more effectively to guide their proper development. On the other hand, if the necessary care is not taken, the occurrence of poor physical development of preschool children of young school age is increasingly emphasized as a problem, primarily as a consequence of the modern way of life, in which the reduced volume of physical activity is particularly emphasized. We want to emphasize that this is an age where the growth and development of children is very intense and accelerated, so the effects of external and internal factors in both directions are very large and this fact should always be taken into consideration by children's institutions, educators, doctors, parents and to give special care to it. The spinal column was especially endangered during this period, as a basis for proper posture and proper growth and development. Today's children spend most of their days at home, growing and developing with the control and influence of computers, mobile phones, video games and the end of the TV screen, so there is very little time to move around. The author, pointing to the problem, encloses the choice of therapeutic exercises with the application of which could be much influenced in order to prevent the occurrence of poor posture and the formation of physical deformities.

Abstract Adolescence is a phase of life with specific health and developmental needs. This is the time to develop self-image and self-esteem, learn to manage emotions and relationships, acquire attributes and abilities, and also physiologically form body posture. An efficient, erect posture of the human body is defined as the alignment of particular body segments that are not affected by pathological changes. Body posture is influenced by a variety of physiological, occupational, and biomechanical factors. It is very important to know these factors and their influence on posture to prevent the appearance of postural deviations and its consequence in their daily lives. This study is a review of articles related to the formation, defects, and corrective measures of body posture during adolescence and identifying its relationship with different aspects of health. This study identified 207 studies on the various aspects of posture in children and adolescents using search engines such as Google Scholar, Science Direct, and PubMed, of which 11 studies met the eligibility criteria for the review. Postural defects are no longer confined to medicine and affect society as a whole. It plays a significant role in defining the social personality of an individual and is responsible for his upbringing. Since these disorders are prevalent in children, it is necessary to emphasize the importance of prevention programs. Thus, children should be taught the habit of maintaining proper posture along with increasing their physical activity levels and promoting healthy lifestyles.

Objective. To study parameters of sagittal spinopelvic balance in patients with chronic low back pain and sciatica, and mechanism of vertical posture formation in a sagittal plane.Material and Methods.Total of 100 patients (32 female and 68 male, mean age 38.7 years) with chronic low back pain and sciatica underwent clinical and radiological examinations. Pelvic incidence (PI), sacral slope (SS), pelvic tilt (PT), and global lumbar lordosis (GLL) were measured on lateral standing radiograms. Statistical analysis of the obtained data was performed.Results.The mean value of PI (50.7°) in patients with back pain and sciatica and in healthy volunteers was almost equal, while SS and GLL were significantly lower in patients, and PT – higher, than those in volunteers. Number of patients with PI ≤ 35 was significantly higher than that of volunteers. Pearson’s correlation coefficient between GLL and PI was 0.916, between GLL and SS – 0.902, and between GLL and PT – 0.326. Vertical posture in patients with chronic low back pain and lumbar sciatica is characterised by backward pelvic rotation relative to hip and by hypolordotic shape of the lumbar spine.Conclusion.Vertical posture in patients with low back pain and sciatica is determined by a backward rotation of the pelvis, therefore SS and GLL decrease, and PT increases. A prevalence of extremely low values of PI (≤35°) may be considered as a risk factor for lumbar spine degenerative diease. Alteration of vertical posture is a kind of protective mechanism.

Abstract Introduction The aim of the study was to analyse the deviations of the body posture and to assess the occurrence of spine deformities. Additionally, Body Mass Index in school children was related to the trend in postural deformities for different age groups (5-8 years old, n=112; 9-11 years old, n=205; 12-14 years old, n=212) as part of the project “Spine Lab”, granted from the European Commission IPA founds, investigating the importance of public health issues. Methods Body posture was measured using Contemplas 3D software analyser, based on video image trajectory and BIA weight scale (Tanita BC 420). Overall, 17 variables were assessed, and differences were confirmed using MANOVA analysis. Results The results showed that there is a significant difference between age groups for the measured variables (F=9.27; p<0.01; η2=0.26), suggesting a moderate difference across the age span. Conclusion The study results showed that there is a negative trend of increasing Body Mass Index within the first and youngest age group. The fact is that the trend of increasing deformity of the shoulder belt has been noted, often inclining towards the formation of milder forms of kyphotic posture. Other forms of deformity that are accentuated in the survey results are the negative trend of increasing pelvic rotation and pelvis rotation which inclines towards the formation of lordotic posture for all three age groups.

ABSTRACT Objective: To test the null hypothesis of no significant difference in terms of intraoral pressure curve characteristics assessed simultaneously at the subpalatal space (SPS) and the vestibular space (VS), during different oral postures, between four groups with either an Angle Class II/1 (II1), Angle Class II/2 (II2), anterior open bite (O) malocclusion, or a neutral occlusion control group (I). Materials and Methods: Intraoral pressure recordings were performed simultaneously in the VS and SPS of 69 consecutive subjects (nII1 = 15; nII2 = 17; nO = 17; nI = 20; mean age/standard deviation 18.43/6.60 years). Assessments included defined sections of open mouth posture (OMP, 30 seconds), anteriorly closed mouth condition (60 seconds), dynamics by a tongue-repositioning maneuver (TRM, 60 seconds), swallowing, and positive pressure generation (PP, 10 seconds). Interactions of malocclusion, compartment location, and posture on pressure curve characteristics were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U-tests, adopting an α level of 5%. Results: Globally significant group differences were detected at the VS (plateau duration and median peak heights during TRM; area under pressure curve [AUC] during PP) and SPS (AUC during TRM and PP). Subjects with anteriorly nonopen dental configurations (groups I and II2) were able to keep negative pressure levels at the VS for longer time periods during TRM, compared to groups O and II1. Conclusions: The null hypothesis was rejected for mean VS plateau durations and peak heights and for SPS AUC. Negative pressures at the VS may stabilize outer soft tissues passively and may explain the dental arch form shaping effect by mimic muscles.

The problem of forming a healthy posture of schoolchildren is in dire need of an effective solution over the past decades. So according to K.I. Khodatskaya, A.A. Kuts, 2020 and others, posture disorders in children of primary school age are 62.8%, and among adolescents 11-15 years old they reach 80-90% of the total number of students. Purpose: theoretically and experimentally substantiate the feasibility of finding and using pre-nosological markers of posture disorders of students 6-7 years old at the stage of adaptation of the musculoskeletal system for school educational loads. The methodological basis of the study was the component analysis of the second variant of the Romberg test, on the basis of which the indicators of stability coefficients of the equilibrium function (EMF) and asymmetry of the equilibrium function (EDF) were calculated. Research methods: theoretical analysis of scientific and methodological literature, dynamic pedagogical observation, Romberg functional test (second option), goniometry of the spine according to V. A. Hamburtsev, stating experiment, statistical methods. Contingent of subjects: the study involved 12 boys 6-7 years old, first grade students of secondary schools of the city, who were assigned to the main group for health reasons. Scientific novelty: for the first time developed a complex of pre-nosological markers of posture for students 6-7 years old, who start school load; A preventive approach to the formation of posture of students 6-7 years old at the stage of adaptation to educational loads is substantiated, criteria that determine the risk group regarding the predicted occurrence of certain functional deviations in the posture state are worked out. The effectiveness of the goniometry method for studying the dynamics of indicators of the morphofunctional state of the spine of students 6-7 years old during the first year of school has been confirmed. The practical significance of the results obtained is that primary school teachers and parents will receive a ready-made toolkit based on innovative technologies for carrying out specific health-saving work in the direction of forming the posture of children 6-7 years old during the first year of schooling and the entire period of schooling.

The modern way of life, which is characterized by insufficient movement, most often leads to poor posture. Children and young people exercise less and less and spend more and more time in passive sitting and lying positions. Such habits take them away from their natural needs for movement (hypokinesis) and significantly reduce most of their physical and functional abilities. The question is why do so many children sit with such poor posture? Habit is one of the main reasons, but not the only factor of poor posture when sitting. The article especially discusses the environment factors that may indicate the causes of improper posture, and occur during school: several hours of sitting in school desks, a large number of classes, short breaks, dysfunctional and inadequate classroom furniture, insufficient lighting of the work surface, heavy school bags and improper way of carrying one. Due to the influence of various factors: family, preschools, schools, and others in the formation of proper posture, it is necessary to create a system of preventative measures from an early age, which includes educating children. Prevention not only affects school success but also changes the attitude towards oneself, peers, and other people, which contributes to the development of positive traits and characteristics of the person and their successful socialization.

A new, low-density trilobite body cluster from an Upper Ordovician Kope Formation mudstone in the Cincinnati region is characterized by well-preserved, articulated specimens. This cluster is polytaxic, size-segregated, and shows an unusual variety of flexure postures in the most common taxon, Flexicalymene aff. granulosa. Specimens show internal pyritization and associated pyritefilled tubular burrows, and were preserved by rapid deposition of mud from a sediment-laden flow. Size-segregation among species, but size-consistency within species, coupled with sedimentological data and apparently haphazard body orientation data, suggest that the trilobites represent a biological association, rather than the product of mechanical sorting. While the majority of specimens are inverted, many are dorsal-up, and some are inclined to bedding. Postures include prone (i.e., nonflexed), simple dorsal or ventral flexure, and complex stances that combine both dorsal and ventral flexure. Flexure pattern appears largely unrelated to sediment compaction. We interpret the cluster as an association of live trilobites that were entombed in situ. Specimens may have inverted prior to burial as a behavioral posture, or as a response to onset of burial. The animals were likely preserved in the process of escaping, as they tried to free themselves from being buried. This is in contrast to the tightly enrolled stance in some trilobites, especially other Flexicalymene, commonly associated with rapid burial events, and indicates a new behavioral aspect of trilobite paleobiology. The distribution of associated burrows suggests that the rotting carcasses attracted scavengers.

Sitting for an extended time may cause a serious chronic disease such as a musculoskeletal disorder, or a cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or obesity. Because a consistently improper posture from early childhood to adolescence can have a number of undesirable effects on the formation of the musculoskeletal structure, learning to maintain a correct posture should be emphasized. A consistently improper posture can not only cause physical problems, it may also lead to emotional issues such as distractions, an attention deficit, and hyperactivity, and the possibility of a low efficiency and performance on assignments is high when the students have a low concentration. The present study implemented a distracted estimation system based on sensor fusion through correlation analysis with concentration that could estimate the level of distraction and prevent musculoskeletal diseases caused by poor sitting posture habits in daily life. The implemented system was designed in the form of a sitting cushion to reflect the ethological movements and characteristics of a sitting position that modern people spend a large amount of time in, and can be easily applied to existing chairs. Both algorithms installed in the system detected the center of gravity of the seated person and displayed positional changes that occurred based on the intensity of the postural changes when moving; thus, simultaneous determination of posture and impulsive behavior was possible. To evaluate the system performance, a posture determination evaluation was conducted, along with distraction estimation according to the rate of changes in posture that occur in everyday life. In addition, to evaluate performance in daily life, a movie-watching scenario was set up, and the distracted-limit estimation and concentration indices according to the rate of changes in posture were comparatively evaluated by reviewing a video of the subjects. The results of the posture determination performance evaluation through 100 posture repetitions on 10 subjects showed a high detection performance of 99.04%. The Pearson’s correlation coefficient results showed a high correlation coefficient (inverse) of r = −0.975076 and a P-VALUE = 1.654 × 10 − 6 . This experiment objectively confirmed the correlation between the DLE Index (based on postural change) and the CI Index (based on EEG).

Imitative learning is an effective method for robots to obtain a novel movement from a person demonstrating many kinds of movement. Many problems need to be solved, however, before a robot can achieve imitative learning. One problem is how to convert visual information on the demonstrator’s motion to kinematic posture information for the learner. This is referred to as a correspondence problem and we have focused on this problem in this study. To solve it, we focus on the formation of a low-dimensional representation that integrates sensory information from two different modalities. We propose a computation method for constructing the low-dimensional representation combining posture information and visual images by using Kernel Canonical Correlation Analysis (KCCA). Using this method, a robot becomes able to estimate posture information from visual images in a bottom-up way. Using several experiments we show how effective our proposed method is in estimating kinematic information.

During the year, 50% of adult Europeans suffering from acholia, as well as at least 90%, complain of headaches once in a lifetime without treatment. This disease has been identified by WHO as one of the 10 diseases leading to disability. With headaches, a high rate of disability is associated with several pathologies that are associated with suffocation in patients. We can bring to them ruxy disorders, neck pain, vestibular symptoms and imbalance, as well as cerebral pathologies in migraines. Having complete knowledge about the disease, knowledge of the mechanisms of formation of the pathological process provides the optimal treatment option. The pathogenetic mechanism of tension headaches (zbo), autonomic disorders and posture changes is still being studied and is causing discussion [6].
