Artificial intelligence (AI) development gives a new development direction to the traditional education model. The education reform in the intelligent environment is urgent. Under this background, the theory, methods, and characteristics of intelligent music education are expounded based on traditional piano music education. AI and Internet-based smart piano education is introduced. The characteristics of smart piano and its methods of assisting music teaching are analyzed. Moreover, literature review and questionnaire are adopted based on intelligent music education and smart piano theory. With two universities A and B in Nanjing as the research object, the questionnaire is designed to investigate and analyze the related problems of smart piano-assisted piano basic teaching in detail. The results show that smart piano positively improves skill training and psychological training in piano teaching. Piano major learners believe that smart piano can obviously help beginners and people with low piano levels. However, smart piano is not as good as traditional piano for high-level learners. In actual teaching, teachers should use different strategies for different levels of learners. Regarding curriculum quality, teachers have not fully played the role of the smart piano, and the curriculum of smart piano-assisted basic piano teaching still needs improvement. Finally, corresponding countermeasures and suggestions for the development direction of smart piano in piano music education are put forward according to the current situation of the smart piano. The results can reflect the current situation of smart piano-assisted basic piano teaching, provide a reference for researchers in related industries, and promote the related development of smart piano.

In today’s society, with the gradual improve5ment of material living standards, people are also more in pursuit of their own spiritual enjoyment. The study of piano has gradually become a way for people to enrich their spiritual life, and more and more people attach importance to it. In the field of piano teaching, the two-piano method is a unique form of playing the piano. In order to solve the problem that the recognition accuracy of the sequence of two pianos is seriously reduced in the environment of noise and reverberation, this paper proposes an auxiliary training analysis system based on the neural network model. Firstly, in order to learn the nonlinear relationship between the sound order and the target task label from the massive data, a multitask preprocessing method combining speech enhancement and detection is used to supervise the deep neural network training. Then, convolutional neural network is used to construct the end-to-end recognition system, and the initial recognition results are checked and corrected by the phonological sequence model. Finally, the sequence recognition is carried out under the condition of noise, and the articulation is improved by speech enhancement front-end module, and then the sequence recognition model is used for recognition. Compared with traditional training methods, it is proved that our method is effective in improving the training efficiency and performance quality of players. At the same time, this method breaks through the limitation of traditional training method of double piano, creates a more scientific training means, and realizes the practice and application of artificial intelligence technology in the teaching of double piano.

Teaching piano art is one of the fundamental aspects of music education. Over the centuries, traditional methods of teaching piano have been formed, but in the modern educational system there is a tendency to introduce innovative approaches. The purpose of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis of methods of teaching piano art in classical and modern educational systems, to identify their features, advantages and disadvantages. The following methods were used to conduct the research: theoretical analysis of scientific literature on the research topic, monitoring the educational process in music schools and universities (15 educational institutions in total, 150 students), questioning piano teachers (75 respondents), interviewing outstanding pianists and teachers (10 interviews). The research materials were scientific publications, methodological manuals, educational programs, video recordings of master classes and concerts. During the study, it was revealed that classical methods of teaching piano art are based on strict discipline, long hours of lessons (on average 4-6 hours a day), the development of technical skills through repeated repetition of exercises (up to 70% of the study time), the study of the academic repertoire (more than 80% of the works are classical). Modern methods are characterized by greater flexibility, an individual approach, the use of a diverse repertoire (up to 50% of modern music), the use of technical teaching tools (special computer programs, digital pianos with learning functions), an emphasis on the development of students' creative abilities (improvisation, composition). The effectiveness of classical techniques is confirmed by the high level of training of professional pianists (85% of laureates of international competitions are graduates of classical schools), while modern approaches promote the popularization of piano art and attract a wide audience (an increase in the number of students of music schools by 25% over the past 10 years).

Statement of the problem. The process of achieving an aesthetically appealing and artistically true piano sound has long been a subject of research for musicians. In recent decades, domestic performance practice has relied on this issue mostly on the professional literature created back in the Soviet period. But the process of integrating Ukrainian musical education and performance into the European and world cultural space requires the study of alternative sources, primarily English-language ones, that reflect the experience of performers in different countries of the world, as well as correlations and the introduction of relevant terminology into scientific and practical circulation. Analyzing recent publications, we established that the phenomenon of the piano in general and piano sound in particular is considered from different points in the works of J. Parakilas (2000), E. Hiebert (2013), V. Raad (1977), G. Fitch (2016a,b; 2022), Shen Li and R. Timmers (2021), M. Keane (2013), Chuan C. Chang (2009), I. Masters (2021), and others. The purpose of this article was to study the approaches to the phenomenon of piano sound available in the English-language scientific literature. For the first time, a number of Englishlanguage sources dedicated to the phenomenon of piano sound have been included in domestic scientific circulation. Systematic and comparative methods, as well as terminological analysis used in the study, made it possible to distinguish different contexts, in which the phenomenon of piano sound is presented in scientific discourse: performance-practical, psychological, historical, organological (due to the structural features of the instruments). Research results. One of the approaches to the study of the piano sound phenomenon is the study of the history of the piano, its place in European culture and its social functions, as in the work of J. Parakilas (2000), where the author describes the history of the functioning of the piano during the 18th–20th centuries. The sound of the piano in the historical, stylistic and organological contexts is considered by I. Masters (2021), who investigated the structural and sound features of the London and Viennese pianos (second half of the 18th century) and their influence on the specifics of the piano texture, structure of themes, articulation and stroke palette of the works of pianists and composers of the London and Vienna schools. A purely performance and practical perspective is found in Chuan C. Chang’s book (2009), which covers most aspects of piano playing. Another example of a purely practical approach to the study of piano sound is the articles by G. Fitch (2016a,b; 2022), where he considers the process of creating an aesthetically pleasing sound. Another perspective on piano sound and playing is interdisciplinary, where musicology interacts with acoustics, psychology, and physiology (Keane, 2013; Li, & Timmers, 2021). Conclusions. A review of professional sources shows that the piano sound in the modern English-language scientific discourse is considered as a complex multifaceted phenomenon. The main and special concepts describing the sound of the piano are “tone”, “voicing”, “layering”. The first two terms have an ambiguous interpretation: some authors understand the quality of the instrument’s sound as the result of the performer’s actions, others as a certain manner of playing, and others as, first of all, the character of the sound determined by the design and technical condition of the instrument.

The art of piano playing has been continuously entering into people’s life. However, with the continuous improvement of science and technology and living standards, the traditional teaching mode can no longer meet the piano teaching mode. The teaching of piano is different from traditional subjects, such as Chinese and mathematics. It requires students to experience the artistic characteristics and the live atmosphere of the players brought by the piano. This study integrates video and image teaching methods with piano teaching. Videos and images can more intuitively show the live atmosphere brought by piano players and musical artistic features brought by the piano. At the same time, this study uses the convolutional neural network (CNN) method to study the relevant features of videos and images of piano teaching. These features are mainly the characteristics of piano music, the behavior of players, and the basic knowledge of a piano. The research results show that the clustering method can effectively classify the features of videos and images in piano teaching, and the maximum classification error is only 1.89%. The CNN method also has high performance in predicting the relevant features of piano teaching videos and images. Accuracy. The largest prediction error is only 2.23%, and the linear correlation coefficient also exceeds 0.95. This set of the piano teaching mode that combines videos and images is beneficial to both teachers and students.

The establishment of Shanghai National Conservatory of music in 1927 marked the establishment of piano performance in China. With the development of the motherland, Chinese piano art has grown up all the way, showing unique musical cultural phenomena and Piano cultural highlights closely related to the social environment in different historical stages. The author believes that the development of Chinese piano art is mainly reflected in three aspects: teaching, creation and performance. The pioneers of China's early piano education not only trained the first batch of piano players for the Chinese music world, but also continued their teaching ideas, teaching styles and teaching methods on their students from generation to generation, which has had a positive and far-reaching impact on today's Piano Teaching in China. By sorting out and analyzing the historical development stages of Chinese piano performance teaching theory, the author can observe the current situation of Chinese piano performance teaching with a more critical perspective, thus enlightening us to explore and think about Chinese piano performance teaching in the new era, so as to promote the deeper and broader development of the research on piano performance teaching theory, And try to change the problem that piano performance teaching only stays at the level of language description and experience summary to a certain extent, and seek a development path for the improvement of piano teachers' scientific research ability.

Determining the specifics of sound production on the piano makes it possible to deepen the understanding of piano intonation, which is inseparable from the artistic concept, a choice of musical expressive means, methods of forming and reproducing sounds. The purpose of the article is to study the mechanical-acoustic features and properties of the piano in a holistic relationship with the organization of musical space and artistic means of performance, which were formed in the process of musical practice. Starting from B. Asafiev’s dialectical intonation theory, the methodology of the work reaches the systemic level, including the methods of historical, cultural and comparative research, general scientific logical methods of analysis, synthesis, induction and deduction. Realizing of the objectives of the article is carried out through the study of playing techniques and all the palette of piano touché used in their practice by pianists, as well as the factors that influence the formation of piano sound. It is claimed that conscious piano intonement, being the sound embodiment of musical thought, finds its direct expression through the specifics of sound formation on the studied instrument. The latter is inextricably linked with sound production techniques, dynamics, and pedaling.

Teaching using a multimedia technology in the 21 s t century affords the possibility of developing novel instructional strategies and paves the way for the all-around extension of musical educational functions. The importance of multimedia teaching technology in piano instruction has started to emerge in our country and society due to the ongoing development of this kind of technology in music educational institutions here. The conventional method of teaching piano has several drawbacks that may be mitigated by using one of the several alternative methods of instruction for the instrument, especially in light of the ongoing advancements in science and technology. A pianist’s methods of expression are the tools they use to convey their thoughts and emotions about a piece of music to the audience. Teachers may demonstrate their musical skills to students and they must immediately focus on a musical expression which is vital for performers. In this paper, the Multimedia-based Piano Teaching Model (MPTM) has been proposed to improve the piano teaching quality. Traditional piano instruction is improved and developed using multimedia technology in this article. The Internet education model is used for teacher assessment, and the systematic way representing piano teaching combines different music educational materials. It begins building a sufficiently broad music network infrastructure resource sharing framework and benefits society’s amateur music literacy. The use of machine learning in students’ concrete piano instruction has the potential to thoroughly promote contemporary piano instruction and enhance the overall quality of instruction. To begin, an explanation of the intelligent piano’s features and capabilities is provided. The neural network is used to suggest a technique for detecting a piano note on a set. The network can assess the input piano music signal’s time frequency by translating the original time-domain waveform into the time-varying frequency distribution. Intelligent piano instruction analysis can effectively achieve the overall optimization of piano performance. The test results show that MPTM has a significant role in boosting the desire to learn to play the instrument. The experimental results show that the proposed MPTM achieves a learning skills ratio of 97.6%, a learning activity ratio of 98.5%, a student performance ratio of 93.8%, a teaching evaluation ratio of 90.3%, and a learning behavior ratio of 94.2% when compared to other methods.

The piano is one of the few polyphonic instruments in the world that requires a high level of coordination in both hands. For this reason, besides the composers writing works for the introductory piano, the piano methods of Carl Czerny and Ferdinand Beyer, two composers who only focused on piano education, are still used today. However, the technically different approaches of both composers to piano education constituted the basic building block of this work. First of all, Ferdinand Beyer's educational perspective was formed with the information compiled from the sources obtained as a result of the researches and comments on the composer's basic piano method. Evaluation in terms of school and expectations at the beginner piano level and an observation about the achievements of the students were included in the study. In the second part, examinations on Carl Czerny's initial piano method and the composer's technical point of view are given with examples on the research and work mentioned in the previous section. Finally, the data obtained in both sections were collected and comparisons were made in the last section, and as a result of the comparisons, results were written on their suitability for students both technically and musically.

Firstly, a new onset detection method is proposed using a specific energy envelope matched filter, which has been proved very suitable for piano music. Secondly, a computer-vision method is proposed to enhance audio-only piano music transcription, using the recognition of the player's hands on the piano keyboard. We carried out comparable experiments respectively for onset detection and overall system based on the MAPS database and the video database. The results were compared with the best piano transcription system in MIREX 2008, which still kept the best performance in piano subset till MIREX 2012. The results show that the system outperforms the state-of-art method substantially.

China's economic and social development, cultural industry progress, and improved living standards have led to a diversified society for piano professionals and applied talents. This study aimed to analyze the piano teaching mode in higher schools. Explore the existing piano teaching modes at home and abroad, and analyze the characteristics, advantages, and shortcomings of different teaching modes and evaluate the new piano teaching mode and verify its effect of improving students' piano playing application ability. The current study clarified the related implications under the initial dimensions for a follow-up particular analysis by examining the syllabi of piano teaching models from five universities' music programs using the Research & Development (R&D) theoretical framework. The study examines and contrasts relevant research on domestic piano instruction models through a survey of the literature. This stage seeks to categorize and condense the findings of previous research, comprehend the theoretical underpinnings and real-world application of applied talent training models both domestically and internationally, and offer a theoretical framework and point of reference for this investigation. This study employs various research tools, including literature analysis, structured questionnaires, observation forms, and checklists, to collect comprehensive data to address the research questions. It explored that teaching methods: at present, China's higher education piano teaching methods are diverse, emphasis on skills training, ignoring the cultivation of music literacy. In the process of teaching, teachers tend to focus on demonstration, and students have fewer opportunities to practice, which leads to the lack of students' innovative ability. The Curriculum: China's higher education piano teaching is based on professional courses, and a small number of elective courses in the curriculum to assist. As a result, the content of the curriculum is relatively single and lacks the cultivation of students' comprehensive ability. The Evaluation system: China's higher education piano teaching is mainly based on performance examination, which overly emphasizes technical indicators and neglects musical expression and creativity. In addition, the evaluation standard is too uniform, making it difficult to meet students' individual needs.

The community is very enthusiastic about welcoming music education institutions. There are many people's desire to learn music, especially piano, but not all students have the same interest in learning music. In this case the researchers limited the classical piano participants, with ages 4-6 years. Based on observations, the classical piano learning process has a very detailed learning stage, so that students experience boredom in learning. Seeing this fact, the researcher wanted to know the students' interest in learning classical piano in the Music course in Semarang. The benefit of this research is to know the students' interest in learning classical piano. So that these results can be used for the development of methods, materials, strategies, and media in classical piano learning. The development of this learning component has a beneficial impact on the owners of educational institutions, teachers and students. The result of the discussion is that interest has a great influence on students in learning, because if the material and learning methods are not in accordance with their interests, students will not learn as well as possible, because there is no attraction for them. For students aged 4-6 years, students cannot achieve learning goals just because of interest, but other psychological factors such as intelligence, attention, talent, maturity, readiness, especially motivation that can help return the initial interest, namely learning the piano. Motivation from the closest people, usually parents play an important role in the growth of interest.

The piano fingering annotation task refers to assigning finger labels to notes in piano sheet music. Good fingering helps improve the smoothness and musicality of piano performance. In this paper, we propose a method for automatically generating piano fingering using a model-based reinforcement learning algorithm. We treat fingering annotation as a partial constraint combinatorial optimization problem and establish an environment model for the piano performance process based on prior knowledge. We design a reward function based on the principle of minimal motion and use reinforcement learning algorithms to decide the optimal fingering combinations. Our innovation lies in establishing a more realistic environment model and adopting a model-based reinforcement learning approach, compared to model-free methods, to enhance the utilization of samples. We also propose a music score segmentation method to parallelize the fingering annotation task. The experimental section shows that our method achieves good results in eliminating physically impossible fingerings and reducing the amount of finger motion required in piano performance.

The extended piano(s), the extended body(ies) is an ongoing research project on the piano as an extended instrument started in 2014 by the pianist and composer Hara Alonso. Over the years, it has been developed in different directions and forms ranging from composition, improvisation and installation. The research questions are: How can we rethink the piano beyond its history and technology? How can we expand it by incorporating embodied composition methods? This research intends to develop tools to augment the piano qualities in terms of sound (timbre) and the performative-conceptual elements through improvisation, composition, electroacoustic elements, and performance. These enhanced elements have changed and opened up a wide range of possibilities to interact with the piano, both sonically and physically, widening the piano practices. The pianist’s body has a fundamental value in the research as the initiator of the sound, gesture, and intention, becoming the point of departure in this research. The investigation intertwines two axes: 1) The piano as a sound generator and its expansion through digital means, and 2) The pianist’s body is the primary instrument. This article covers the research period from 2014 to 2021, in which Hara Alonso developed numerous works for extended piano that have been displayed in several public performances.

With the flourishing of China's social economy, there has been a significant surge in the public's desire for a more enriched cultural experience. The piano, renowned for its exquisite artistry as a Western musical instrument, has emerged as an especially popular choice. Consequently, the importance of piano education for children is gaining prominence. This study delves into the current state of children's piano education in China through field interviews, questionnaire surveys, and discussions with training institutions, revealing numerous challenges. The investigation encompasses the perspectives of piano education institutions, children, parents, and teachers, scrutinizing teaching methods, content, and the selection of instructional materials. Notably, a critical concern lies in the waning interest and enthusiasm among children in piano learning. This decline is predominantly influenced by external factors, particularly societal attitudes and prevailing utilitarian views. To address this issue, educators and parents must gain a clearer understanding of the purpose and values of children's piano education, bearing the responsibility of nurturing a sustained interest in the piano. This can be achieved by fostering a conducive environment that nurtures their innate curiosity and passion for music, thereby paving the way for a more vibrant and productive future for children's piano education in China.
