The peacekeeping became actual agenda of international relations due to increased number of internal conflicts with mass human rights violations in different regions of the world including Africa. The problems of ensuring peace and security have become priority for United Nations (UN) and regional organizations involved in constant search of conflict resolution best practices. Peacekeeping actors admitted the key role of law-enforcement agencies, and first of all the police, in ensuring security in conflict or post-conflict reconstruction. Therefore, the UN actively developing the strategy of police methods usage in peacekeeping operations. Because of this process, the number of member states contributing police contingents to the UN including formed police units increased. Joint activity of police officers from different countries with different education, professional experience and specialization requires high-quality training of candidates for peacekeeping operations. The purpose of this article is to analyze the needs of African police officers in professional development and the capabilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in training of African police officers for the UN peacekeeping operations. The study is based on insights from non-participant observation, interviews and analyses of the UN official documents, policies and training materials. Actual Russian and foreign scientific publications were used. Results confirmed that Russian Federation has many years of experience in African policemen training for the UN peacekeeping operations. The promising areas of Russian Federation participation in the development of the peacekeeping potential of African police, along with the provision of standardized pre-deployment training based on the UN certified programs, can be training in the crime investigation methodology and the training of special police units of the UN member states.

There is no substitute for good microscope care. A unit that is stored and covered, with its lens protected in a constant temperature/ humidity environment, which is dust free (in the laboratory away from acid wash areas) speaks for itself. During cleaning, oculars in particular, microscope rubes should be covered to prevent entry of dust. A lens should be inspected with a view to cleaning if there is a lack of contrast, cloudiness or poor definition in the images it produces. While extolling the virtue of cleaning microscope components, it should be emphasized that cleaning can cause considerable damage if it is done incorrectly.

This report highlights the best practices captured in the management of Tail-Gas Treatment Unit (TGTU)’s hydrogenation CoMo catalyst throughout its lifecycle, these best practices were developed based on success story in operating the TGTU, which provides technical framework to manage TGTU unit performance throughout TGTU catalyst lifecycle. The aforementioned TGTU CoMo catalyst management best practices span across the whole catalyst lifecycle, starting from cradle stage of activating/sulphiding the fresh oxide-form catalyst up to grave stage of unloading & handling the spent catalyst to a safe location. Furthermore, stressing points have been provided to record special procedure to activate catalyst’s active sites (Cobalt & Molybdenum) in a process commonly known as “sulphiding”, as well as “passivation” procedure during TGTU catalyst unloading due to the presence of pyrophoric material such as Iron Sulphide (FeS) in the TGTU converter. This developed best practices provide solid reference point for future TGTU catalyst management throughout its lifecycle. Therefore, it can be adopted and consistently applied across other TGTU-based Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) plants in order to maintain the optimum Sulfur Recovery Efficiency (SRE), minimize plant downtime due to catalyst replacement and prevent unwanted environmental issues such as SOx emissions).

The purpose of this article is to evaluate the potential for online multimedia materials as alternative learning tools for the collaborative training of teachers in the design of research-based teaching. A case study using a team of three trainee teachers was used to develop a process of initial training in the design of a constructivist and research-based teaching unit supported by online multimedia material. The results obtained from the research allowed some principles to be identified and basic recommendations and alternative lines of action to be given for designing online multimedia materials. Online multimedia materials can be alternative teaching tools that contribute, with other materials, to the development of constructivist, collaborative, and research-based strategies which help provide the necessary support for improving the initial and ongoing training of new teachers in the design of teaching from a research perspective.

Resolution 1325, ratified by the United Nations in 2000, calls for increased gender awareness as well as an increase in the number of women officers in international peacekeeping operations. This article explores gender relations and military practice in a Swedish military unit bound for such an operation. The article is based on an ethnographic study and draws on feminist theories of organization. The purpose is to discuss ordering practices in a military unit, and the gender patterns they create. I show that Resolution 1325 reshapes gender distinctions in the military. Three sets of ordering practices are analyzed. I show that the practice of taken for granted masculinity tends to make women invisible and reinforce a masculine soldier norm. Furthermore, the practice of stereotyping reinforces perceived gender differences. The practice of the gendered resource constructs women officers as complementary to their male peers, and is related to the specific tasks women are assigned as a result of Resolution 1325. In conclusion, I state that the resolution is a source of new gender distinctions in the military practice. First, a women’s niche is emerging and thus a new gender division of labor is constructed as a result of the resolution. Second, the members of the studied unit tend to create a distinction between men, that is, between the Swedish soldiers in the unit and the local men “down there”. Third, I show that the issue of gender equality in the unit is dislocated as a result of Resolution 1325. The issue of “international gender equality” tends to marginalize questions concerning gender relations in the Armed Forces. When 1325 is interpreted at the unit, it boils down to a handful of positions where women are required – for the sake of the operation.

PurposeThis study aims to assign efficiency score and then ranking the Indian companies known for best practices to control carbon-emission in the environment. It is destined to benchmark one company for best performance on the basis of selected alternatives among its peer group companies.Design/methodology/approachThe present study has used a hybrid model by applying data envelopment analysis (DEA)-technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) to measure the efficiency and ranking of various decision units on the basis of specified variables.FindingsThe findings of DEA have given the best alternative or best decision-making unit (DMU) among the set of 25 DMUs considered for empirical testing. The DEA technique is used with TOPSIS, which is another popular multi-criteria decision model. The integrated DEA-TOPSIS model has helped to compute the efficiency score of all 25 DMUs of study and also provide a unique rank to each of the efficient unit identified with the help of DEA technique.Practical implicationsThe findings of the study have provided Benchmark Company amongst the companies following best practices for saving energy and having best operating profits too. This benchmark business unit can be studied extensively by peer group companies to compare various parameters affecting their efficiency and profits both.Social implicationsThe findings of the study will promote the socially responsible practices by corporate citizens and adopt the practices to reduce their carbon footprints. It will also suggest to socially responsible investors to select the benchmark and most efficient companies for investment purpose.Originality/valueThe study is original in terms of measuring efficiency and ranking of companies known for best practices for controlling their carbon footprints and suggesting a benchmark company to its peer group. Also, the integrated approach of using DEA-TOPSIS for such type of studies also makes it distinctive from earlier work done in the related field.

Resumo:
Over 60,000 hospital patients die each year from complications associated with hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs). Pressure-injury rates have increased by 2% within the past decade as life expectancy has also increased due to high cost in Medicare. Evidence shows that the incidence of pressure injuries (PIs) in healthcare facilities is increasing, with high rates of occurrence in intensive care units (ICUs). At the clinical site for which this project was developed, multiple in-services had been provided to staff regarding PIs, but uncertainty persisted about how knowledgeable the nurses were. This project, using the Academic Center for Evidence Star Model of Knowledge Transformation improved the nurses' knowledge and their practice related to PI prevention in the ICU, as well as to translate evidence into nursing practice. A literature review was conducted on PI prevention to inform the project. The project provided an educational program for intensive care nurses on PI prevention and determined, based on participants' pre- and posttest responses, that nurses' knowledge improved as a result of participation. This project, involving 55 nurses, includes information on the Pieper-Zulkowski Pressure Ulcer Knowledge Test (PZ-PUKT) measuring pressure knowledge which resulted in an 85% improvement on injury prevention, 76% in wound description, as well as, 62% in the Braden Scale. Improvements in knowledge and practice resulting from nurses' participation in an evidence-based education session on PI prevention may bring positive social change to the organization at which this project was conducted.

Audit and feedback (A&F), provision of performance data, can be an effective means to change behaviour. We hypothesize that A&F may be useful in the complex environment of critical care to address routine ordering behaviours. This thesis describes a systematic review assessing the use and effectiveness of A&F for the improvement of intensive care unit laboratory test and transfusion ordering and an analysis of how these interventions adhere to recent suggestions for best practice. The review identified relatively few published studies, almost all of which involved multi-component interventions; these were generally found to be moderately effective. Through development of an evaluation tool, we found recent suggestions for best practice may be underutilized in existing A&F interventions. This work has identified several priorities for future research to aid in the optimization of critical care A&F interventions aimed at improving test and transfusion ordering.

Magister Legum - LLM (Criminal Justice and Procedure)
In the early 1990s Botswana faced rising levels of grand corruption and economic crimes in general. The laws could not cope with the high incidence of economic criminality, especially as regards the confiscation of dirty assets. At the time, the government relied solely on laws regulating the forfeiture of prohibited property and instruments of crime, given that there were no laws authorising the confiscation of proceeds of crime. The drivers of the said forfeiture laws are the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the Botswana Police Service (BPS) and the Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS). Parliament then enacted the Proceeds of Serious Crime Act No. 19 of 1990 (PSCA). The PSCA was a three-pronged tool in that it introduced the offence of money-laundering, enhanced investigative powers, and authorised conviction-based confiscation of proceeds of crime. The DPP was tasked with conducting criminal prosecutions and applying for confiscation orders. The BPS was mandated to conduct financial investigations.

In the present day planning and budgeting is a vital and an irreplaceable instrument for managers. Through planning and budgeting they control management and development of a company. Planning and budgeting no longer is a competitive advantage, but has become a necessary condition for an efficiently run company. Increasing complexity of the environment impacts the requirements for planning and budgeting -- the need to be more complex, the need to include more relations and more specifications. Company's reaction to these demands is usually an implementation of special tools that allow the company to accomplish these requirements. Although, implementation of these instruments along with planning and budgeting generally troubles many companies, some are already looking for new ways to further develop planning; better said budgeting. Today companies are believed to receive a competitive advantage from compiling consolidated budgets for a business unit that is to say from the possibility to budget a business unit as a whole. The main purpose of this research paper is to develop a methodology for budgeting a business unit and its technology support. This methodology due to its newness of this issue has not yet been defined. Reaching the set goal depends on completion of predefined sub goals. The main content of sub goals, as defined in literature and based on my own experience with planning and budget analysis, is to describe this issue and thus enable the reader to understand and be able to implement this methodology on the job. The text of this research paper is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter the reader is introduced to the issue of planning, and learns about the goals, results and conceptual solutions of this paper. The second chapter is dedicated to the issue of planning and budgeting -- it explains its importance, analyzes its functions and aspects that are influenced by it. The third chapter ties back to the general definitions of budgeting from the second chapter and provides further details. This chapter identifies and describes techniques of compiling budgets, the techniques' strengths and weaknesses. The chapter describes the most common shortfalls of budgeting and its solutions; also, outlines the best budgeting practices. The fourth chapter stems from chapter two and three -- following the issue in which the reader is introduced to the characteristics of budgeting for a business unit, and moreover defines the methodology presumption and the methodology itself. The end of the chapter evaluates the results of the execution of the presumed methodology and its usability on the job. The fifth chapter summarizes the conclusions and the level of success on execution of this paper. Keywords: Planning, Budgeting, Budgeting Techniques, Consolidation, Business Unit, Corporate Performance Management (CPM), Best Practices.

Resumo:
This study centres on curriculum development for a master craftsman level in the Printing, Newspaper and Packaging Industries which is didactically sound and takes cognisance of the dynamic vocational education and training milieu in which it occurs. Curriculum and curriculum development is viewed from a systems perspective and incorporates the specific andragogic didactic needs of the learner target group as well as the unique needs of an industrial sector. Because the National Qualification Framework model advocates an outcomes-based approach to curriculum development this necessitated the identification of a suitable standards generating process to articulate the master craftsman unit standards into a qualification capable of being recognised by the National Qualification Framework. The nature and complexity of the underpinning knowledge, skills and competencies for the master craftsman level were quantified and qualified by means of skills and competency profiling and the development of a job outcome taxonomy of skills, knowledge and attributes which incorporated critical cross field and fundamental skills, and their underpinning knowledge requirements. Using aspects ofvarious vocational education and training models and empirical research course content was sourced, evaluated and developed into appropriate modules of learning that are congruent with the accepted competency based modular training system used in the Industries. Course maps that integrate theory and practice were developed with multi skilling milestones linked to learner certification. Evaluation of resources for the delivery of the Master Craftsman Programme was facilitated by means of a provider quality assessment and accreditation system. The interactive teaching-learning situation and the evaluation processes and procedures were developed to enhance the assessment of applied competencies in the world of work. A pilot study and unit standards generating activities are to be used as a means of implementing and institutionalising the master craftsman curriculum. The findings of this study revealed that by viewing the curriculum from a systems perspective and using a suitable curriculum development model a creative master craftsman curriculum development process could take place. The competency profiling technique and taxonomy of competencies, skills, knowledge and attributes enabled the curriculum process to be a top-down approach which is outcomes-based.

Caregivers delivering care to breast cancer patients wish to provide the highest quality breast care possible. Due to the complexity of the care pathway, this care should be delivered by a multidisciplinary team working in a breast cancer unit/centre. This book was written by experts from different disciplines and presents ideas for developing a breast unit wherever you live. The authors provide thorough descriptions of high-quality breast cancer care, define targets, methods to assess one’s care, and ideas on how to improve care within one’s resources. A global view of the quality of breast cancer care shows specific best practices applicable to many centres operating in various health care systems with different financial and political situations. Foundation hallmarks of innovation, communication, patient-centred care, multidisciplinary, and budget considerations guide specific recommendations for each component of care. This book discusses global and local considerations so that optimally ‘integrated’ breast cancer care can be organized. Each component of care (e.g. imaging, surgery, etc.) is discussed from both theoretical and practical aspects. The recommendation for each component of care is facilitated by experienced experts laying out rational and practical approaches to each step. This book provides guidance how to integrate the different disciplines into breast cancer care. Beyond treatment, it provides practical considerations regarding accreditation and certification, and it comments on the influence of budget and of treatment. Finally, it demonstrates how best practices may be altered by the emerging involvement of patients, technologies, and transitions of future societal values.

Agitation and delirium are conditions that are highly prevalent in the intensive care unit (ICU). Both are believed to be caused by a number of modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors, and present with a variety of signs and symptoms. Consequently, these conditions are notoriously difficult to detect and treat. Variations in sedative practices, misperceptions regarding delirium and its association with outcomes, and lack of knowledge regarding screening tools, may all impede effective assessment, and management of agitation and delirium. A further complication is that many of the medications used to treat critically-ill patients are now known to increase the risk of delirium. While studies conducted over the last decade have significantly contributed to our understanding of how best to diagnose, prevent, and manage these common conditions, this knowledge is not always successfully adopted into everyday clinical practice. This chapter provides readers with an evidence-based review of agitation and delirium assessment and therapeutic strategies applicable for use in the ICU setting.

What explains differences in soldier participation in violence during irregular war? How do ordinary men become professional wielders of force, and when does this transformation falter or fail? This book presents a theoretical framework for understanding the various forms of behavior in which soldiers engage during counterinsurgency campaigns—compliance and shirking, abuse and restraint, as well as the creation of new violent practices. Through an in-depth study of the Israeli Defense Forces' repression of the Second Palestinian Intifada of 2000—2005, including interviews with and a survey of former combatants, the book examines how soldiers come both to unleash and to curb violence against civilians in a counterinsurgency campaign. It argues that variation in soldiers' behavior is best explained by the effectiveness of the control mechanisms put in place to ensure combatant violence reflects the strategies and preferences of military elites, primarily at the small-unit level. Furthermore, the book develops and analyzes soldier participation in three categories of violence: strategic violence authorized by military elites; opportunistic or unauthorized violence; and “entrepreneurial violence”—violence initiated from below to advance organizational aims when leaders are ambiguous about what will best serve those aims. By going inside military field units and exploring their patterns of command and control, the book sheds new light on the dynamics of violence and restraint in counterinsurgency.

AbstractThis chapter documents the worrying trend of increased levels of top-down policies that stifle universities’ innovativeness and autonomy. I highlight the bureaucratization of corporations and higher education institutions, and how this sclerosis results in a widespread sapping of individual initiative and innovation. The chapter next reviews regulation and bureaucratization in higher education with a special focus on commonalities and differences at two levels: university-wide and one sub-unit, the college of business. I describe successful case studies in anti-bureaucracy policies and practices across higher education at the individual, business unit, university, and other levels to highlight cross-level best practices in higher education, including calculating the present bureaucratic mass and administrative burdens of proposed changes, implementing technology solutions, leading change management efforts across all levels, and employing best practices in decision-making. I conclude with a discussion of research directions that will lead to theoretical, methodological, and phenomenological contributions.

AbstractInnovation is at its best when we are thrusted into an emergency situation that tests protocols and established norms. In this chapter, authors reflect on the journey of a team of instructional designers in an online learning design unit of a large mid-western university amidst COVID-19. With the influx of a multitude of courses to be transitioned to the online platform, authors describe challenges faced by their unit, coping mechanisms, and lessons learned during this phase. They describe inclusive design thinking and uninterrupted practice in return to robust instructional design models, such as Understanding by Design and Universal Design for Learning. The chapter concludes with examples of tried and tested internal tools and an adaptive workflow catering to a shortened development timeline. These practices and reflections serve as a guiding light as the global world navigates online learning to meet increasing demands of new-age digital accessibility and online course design considerations in higher education beyond COVID-19.

Resumo:
With unit sales in excess of one million pieces per year, pipettes are ubiquitous devices and found in a wide variety of laboratories. Applications vary from non-quantitative uses (such as mixing or decanting) to highly quantitative uses such as dispensing of standards and preparation of accurate serial dilutions. Because pipettes are used extensively in critical laboratory tests such as quality control assay of injectable drugs and DNA analysis which results in conviction or exoneration, proper calibration of pipettes is important and the consequences of poor calibrations can be severe. There is a definite upward trend in the number of pipette calibration laboratories and service organizations which have obtained accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2005. Each of these laboratories will have performed an uncertainty analysis and calculated their calibration measurement capability (CMC).In this paper, the available scopes of accreditation from forty different pipette calibration laboratories are compiled, compared and contrasted. The various formats were translated into a common basis and then plotted to show how CMCs vary with pipette volume and vary between laboratories. One of the most notable differences is the significant variation in the CMCs among laboratories, which can vary by factors of 100 or more. There appears to be little correlation between a published pipette CMC and other laboratory variables such as experience in the discipline, equipment, reference standards, environmental controls, and capabilities in related disciplines such as mass or volumetrics. To understand the reasons behind these differences in CMC, pipette uncertainty budgets from some leading laboratories were compared. Based on this evaluation, the authors conclude that laboratory practices for establishing pipette calibration CMCs are not well standardized, and the largest source of variation seems to be practice in how the repeatability contribution from the pipette unit under test (UUT) is evaluated and considered. ILAC policy P-14 [1] defines CMC and establishes general policy regarding inclusion of repeatability and reproducibility of the “best existing device”. In practice, there is currently no consensus on which sources of variation in the pipette calibration process should be included in the CMC evaluation, nor is there agreement on how to apply the concept of a best existing pipette. This paper attempts to begin filling this gap by providing recommendations for a best practice in evaluating and communicating the uncertainty of a pipette calibration and for evaluating the CMC of a pipette calibration laboratory. The important questions of reporting measurement uncertainty and the impact it has on evaluating inter-laboratory comparisons and determining compliance with tolerances are also discussed.

Abstract The Anchor floating production unit (FPU) is a Chevron Gulf of Mexico (GOM) facility located in about 5,000 ft. of water with a nameplate capacity of 75,000 bopd and 28 mmscfd with future expansion capability. The Anchor development plan consists of seven high pressure wells tied back to the FPU through dual flowlines from two drill centers with produced oil and gas transported via export pipelines. This paper will touch on best practices and learnings from FPU transportation and installation, hook-up and commissioning (HUC), as well as subsea flowlines, export pipelines and subsea equipment installations. This paper will explore the keys pillars that enabled the successful execution of the offshore scope. These include a carefully established contracting strategy, detailed multifunctional planning and management of interfaces, high performance focus in design and execution, disciplined scope and progress management and development of a strong project and safety culture. The Anchor offshore installation campaigns commenced in the second quarter of 2021 with all major work scopes completed by end of 2023. HUC will be completed by the first half of 2024. By establishing broad installation windows, the project was able to adjust execution campaigns for optimal weather conditions and vessel availability. Additionally, this flexibility enabled the project to mitigate impacts caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic. The contracting strategy and focus on core contractor competencies further reduced potential risks. Innovative solutions and actions taken to address the many challenges of executing a major capital project (MCP) that includes new technology during a global pandemic and market downturn will be discussed. For clarity, the following terms are used throughout this paper. High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) refers to equipment rated to pressures greater than 15,000 psi and/or temperatures equal to or greater than 350°F. Anchor is a high pressure project under the HPHT category. 20K refers to the Anchor project's technology development and qualification program.

For many centuries, each language has formed its own system of means of expressing the meanings of the qualitative characteristics of objects. The core of the language system is the linguistic grammatical meaning of the unit-adjective feature with a categorical system and, accordingly, the main task of its definition. In inflectional languages, adjectives are traditionally assigned to such units, although there is still no consensus on their nature, in structural grammar they refer to nouns, and in generative grammar to feature words.

Abstract The Anchor semi-submersible floating production unit (FPU) is a Chevron operated Gulf of Mexico (GOM) deepwater facility with a nameplate capacity of 75,000 bopd and 28 mmscfd and future expansion capability. This paper provides an overview of the FPU from detailed design through fabrication including design philosophy, equipment selection, pre-investment, and construction methodology as well as insights into Anchor’s contracting and execution strategy. Principles such as minimum functional objective (MFO), conditions precedent (CP), and on-ground max are discussed, as are some of the key decisions that enabled successful delivery of the Anchor FPU such as early contractor engagement and implementation of a rigorous weight management program. Final investment decision (FID) for the Anchor project was reached in 4Q2019 and soon after in early 2020, the world began to experience impacts from the COVID-19 global pandemic. Actions taken by the Anchor project team to address the many challenges of executing a major capital project (MCP) during a global pandemic and market downturn will also be shared. Anchor followed a general contracting strategy similar to past projects executed by Chevron in the GOM. While this approach requires a larger Owner’s team to manage multiple contracts and interfaces, it also provides greater visibility and earlier recognition of potential execution challenges thereby enabling the project team to react faster with direct input to mitigate or address issues as soon as they are identified. A large number of contracts were executed to deliver the FPU including separate topsides engineering, hull engineering, topsides fabrication and integration, hull fabrication, and systems completion contracts. The Anchor hull was fabricated in South Korea and transported via a heavy transport vessel to the Anchor topsides fabrication site in the US Gulf Coast where the topsides was integrated to the hull. Construction was completed in May 2023 and the Anchor FPU was wet towed from the fabrication yard to its final location in the GOM for installation and execution of the offshore hookup & commissioning (HUC) campaign. For clarity, the following terms are used throughout this paper. High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) refers to equipment rated to pressures greater than 15,000 psi and/or temperatures equal to or greater than 350°F. Abstract The proactive Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) backflush strategy aims to enhance the operation excellence & the efficiency of the ESP pump and increase its lifespan by using a Non-Corrosive Pump (NCP) unit to perform proactive backflush. Instead of waiting for the ESP pump to deteriorate & lose its potential, proactive backflush can reduce the number of failures and avoid production deferment. The deferment associated with frequent trips in wells is around 102,000 bbls of oil yearly from 56 wells in the this field case. Backflush is often used to remove debris from the wellbore because the high fluid flow rate inside the tubing string enables the recovery of large or dense particles that are difficult or impossible to remove with conventional circulation. A number of ESP wells candidates were selected in one of the clusters in the south of Oman based on the frequency of trips due to debris. The frequency of backflush jobs for each well in every year was also defined based on the frequency of trips for each ESP well. This paper focuses on presenting the outcomes of proactive ESP backflush and the value generated in the cluster. The definition of selected candidates and the operational method are also detailed. Initially, we started with the historical performance of the wells in terms of their failure history and wells with multiple backflush or pump stuck cases within a one-year time period. We have listed the wells into five cases based on their historical trip period to define their frequent need to backflush from 2 to 6 times per year. To ensure successful operational performance, a standard backflush program was created, defining all responsible parties and their rules, along with a communication procedure. Within this program, backflush guidelines were included by the ESP specialist and service NCP unit operator for a number of scenarios, taking care of all different completion types (e.g., ESP with packer or without packer). There are two main levels that were defined earlier to measure the success rate of the proactive backflush strategy. Level 1: Increase ESP run life Level 2: Unit to attend job as per shared plan (+/- one day) To perform the job successfully as per the program Spending time per job (max 2 days) The Level 1 objective was met, and the average ESP run life increased by 40% per well. This also reduced the deferment by 10500 bbl/year per well and resulted in an oil gain of around 9800 bbl/year per well. Level 2 objectives were also achieved, and a total of 15 jobs were executed per month as planned. Unsuccessful backflushing was observed in wells that had holes in the tubing and were already eroded from sand. The normal (external-upset-end) EUE tubing is not suitable for sandy wells, and hence this problem was not observed in the upgraded tubing to (Glass reinforced epoxy) GRE type. Overall, the novellaty is discussing a new operation maintenance approach for wells using an ESP (Electric Submersible Pump) system. The new approach is predictive maintenance, which is different from the conventional method of recovery after a well trip. The paper suggests that this new approach has led to an increase in the ESP run life by an average of 40% per well and reduced the frequency of ESP failure, resulting in savings on intervention costs.

The success of start-up entrepreneurship is dependent on multidisciplinary, multidimensional (operation-based functions), and business-related human-, team-, unit- and network cohesion building. It is most important in generating results during start-up entrepreneurship. In business development, it is essential to use experience-based best practices and design patterns that have been recognized in team building and start-up case studies. A start-up company can create an impressive idea with value production when the company has committed people with the right competencies. It has to be understood that cohesion is also formed between users and producers, and between all members of the team, unit, and network partners. This research and article have concentrated on cohesion building during the start-up phase of the gaming business entrepreneurship. It introduces as a case study a four-stage framework of cohesion building during the progress of start-up phases of gaming entrepreneurship. As a result, it introduced a four-stage cohesion-creating concept for a dream team to build a distinct game product and support the start-up of a successful entrepreneurship.

Conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) is a major problem, which has significant negative impacts on victims/survivors, wider society and peace prospects. There is growing international recognition of the need to combat it. CRSV monitoring and early warning are vital in this regard, enabling effective responses and preventive measures. Various factors, notably social stigma, mean that CRSV is vastly under-reported. Best practices to promote CRSV monitoring and early warning include: having appropriate staff (including specialist personnel); engaging with local communities to promote reporting of cases and of warning signals; following principles such as ensuring confidentiality, informed consent and respect for victims/survivors; using standardised data collection templates to facilitate information sharing and analysis; assessing CRSV risks in context against a prepared matrix of early warning indicators; carrying out awareness-raising and advocacy on CRSV; and, where risks are identified, raising the alarm in affected communities. This review looks at best practices in monitoring conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), and in CRSV early warning. It draws largely on grey literature, in particular reports of development organisations such as the United Nations. Much of the literature focuses on peacekeeping missions: far less was found with regard to the role of other actors (e.g. NGOs) in CRSV monitoring and early warning. [Note: there is substantial academic literature on the problem of CRSV rather than on best practices to combat it.] In addition, the review found no in-depth evidence (e.g. evaluations) on the experience of applying CRSV monitoring and early warning practices in specific contexts. Given the subject, the available literature does refer to women and girls, but was largely disability-blind. URI

This report?developed at the request of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service-led Karner Blue Butterfly Recovery Team by Recovery Team members and partners?provides a Karner blue butterfly climate change vulnerability synthesis, explores a range of potential responses, and presents best practices for climate change-informed conservation of the species. The three decades since the Karner blue butterfly?s (Lycaeides [Plebejus] melissa samuelis Nabokov) listing as federally endangered in the United States have seen a diverse and dedicated research and management community coalesce around the species? recovery. This geographically expansive conservation collaboration has broken new ground for threatened and endangered species recovery. Many Karner blue recovery areas are making steady progress towards recovery goals, but some are not. An extremely hot and dry 2012, perhaps aided by adverse longer-term climate trends such as declining snow cover, extirpated the Karner blue from Indiana Dunes National Park and the surrounding Indiana Dunes Karner Blue Butterfly Recovery Unit?the southernmost recovery unit and once host to one of the species? largest populations?as well as from northwest Ohio. Because of the fundamental challenge that climate change represents to Karner blue butterfly recovery and of the general need for endangered species conservation plans to better address climate change, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service-led Karner Blue Butterfly Recovery Team tasked a subset of the team to: Explore the species? climate change sensitivity and adaptive capacity, review ongoing and projected climate change across the Karner blue range and associated uncertainties, and develop and suggest best practices concerning long-term adaptation strategies. Consistent with that mandate, this report synthesizes what is known about Karner blue climate change vulnerability and applies current thinking in climate change adaptation to help foster strategic, long-term, climate change-informed Karner blue recovery and conservation. It develops and explores a range of potential climate change-informed butterfly- and habitat-stewardship responses, using the resist-accept-direct (RAD) framework to foster a broad range of approaches, and provides guidance regarding how they may be pursued. The report also provides suggestions for improving the climate change-exposure component of Karner blue vulnerability assessment.

With the advent of modern sensing technology, mapping products have begun to achieve an unprecedented precision of measurement. Considering their diverse use cases, several factors play a role in what would make the resulting measurements accurate. For light detection and ranging (LiDAR) and photogrammetry-based mapping solutions that implement vehicles outfitted with laser ranging devices, RGB cameras, and global navigation satellite system/inertial navigation system (GNSS/INS) georeferencing units, the quality of the derived mapping products is governed by the combined accuracy of the various sensors. While ranging errors associated with LiDAR systems or the imaging quality of RGB cameras are sensor-dependent and are mostly constant, the accuracy of a georeferencing unit depends on a variety of extrinsic factors, including but not limited to, availability of clear line-of-path to GNSS satellites and presence of radio interferences. The quality of the GNSS signal, in turn, is affected by the grade of hardware components used and, to a great extent, obstructions to signal reception. This document reports some of the major challenges of vehicle-based mobile mapping with regards to GNSS/INS navigation. The background of GNSS/INS positioning is discussed to build a framework for trajectory enhancement as well as improvement of LiDAR mapping products. The focus is put on using available sensor data from LiDAR and/or cameras to enhance their position/orientation quality. Some best practices in light of potential trajectory deterioration are also recommended.
