Resumo:
The term decolonize has gained a new life in recent art activism, as a radical challenge to the Eurocentrism of museums (in light of Native, Indigenous, and other epistemological perspectives) as well as in the museum's structural relation to violence (either in its ties to oligarchic trustees or to corporations engaged in the business of war or environmental depredation). In calling forth the mid-twentieth-century period of decolonization as its historical point of reference, the word's emphatic return is rhetorically powerful, and it corresponds to a parallel interest among scholars in a plural field of postcolonial or global modernisms. The exhortation to decolonize, however, is not uncontroversial-some believe it still carries a Eurocentric bias. Indeed, it has been proposed that, for the West, de-imperialization is perhaps even more urgent than decolonization. What does the term decolonize mean to you in your work in activism, criticism, art, and/or scholarship? Why has it come to play such an urgent role in the neoliberal West? How can we link it historically with the political history of decolonization, and how does it work to translate postcolonial theory into a critique of the neocolonial contemporary art world? Respondents include Nana Adusei-Poku, Brook Andrew, Sampada Aranke, Ian Bethell-Bennett, Kader Attia, Andrea Carlson, Elise Y. The enigmatic 72 Verses for St. Martial is one of the many works by Ademar de Chabannes (989–1034) crafted to promote the false narrative that St. Martial of Limoges, rather than being a third-century bishop, was actually a first-century apostle. The composition is visually striking due to the acrostic formed from the first letter of each tercet, MARCIALIS APOSTOLVS XRISTI, and its two overlapping melodies, one in black ink and the other in red. The relationship between the two notations is the subject of debate: Paul Hooreman’s conclusion that they are two variations of the same monophonic chant is countered by Manuel Pedro Ferreira, who argues that Hooreman’s reasoning is insufficient to rule out polyphony. I use Ferreira’s assessment as a jumping-off point for the current analysis, which investigates the compositional processes underlying the creation of the 72 Verses. Hooreman describes many details in the chant as subject to disorganization, scribal error, lack of ability, etc., but when the chant is analyzed polyphonically, these problems resolve. Beyond the music itself, the chant’s unusual polyphonic structure features reveals that the chant is structured around medieval maps, moving between a mappa mundi and the celestial spheres.

John Paul II's encyclical, Fides et Ratio, describes a profound and causal connection between the teaching of modem Western philosophy and contemporary spiritual dilemmas. The Pope argues persuasively that modem philosophy has led modern man to a loss of faith in the nobility of human reason and the possible existence of meaningful human truths. Modem political philosophers wanted to bring the divine law of revealed Scripture into service of modem philosophic principles of the autonomy of human reason and freedom. John Locke sought to reorganize family life in accordance with such modem principles. Locke clearly modified Biblical teaching to allow for more liberty for the autonomous individual in his imagined liberal democratic society of the future. John Paul II is among those who urge Christians in the West to examine our present social disintegration in light of the foundational ideas that have formed modem liberal societies. We must understand how these ideas have contributed to our present social problems, and determine how to chart the best course for liberal democracy in the new Millennium.

The identity of the figure with a lamb carved on the upper stone of the Anglo-Saxon cross at Ruthwell, Dumfriesshire, was interpreted by Paul Meyvaert (in 1982 and 1992), as an apocalyptic image of the Deity instead of John the Baptist. Close inspection of the panel, however, makes it difficult to accept such an explanation. Instead, an adaptation of the early Christian images of the Baptist is proposed, and it is argued that the details of the panel are best understood in the light of the introduction of the Agnus Dei chant into the Mass by Pope Sergius I (687–701), and of biblical commentary which saw the Baptist himself as an apocalyptic figure associated with the Lamb, the paschal sacrifice, commemorated each day in the Mass.

In 1990, Thomas Elsaesser wrote that Brechtian aesthetics are toothless in a hyperreal image culture. Thirty years on, this essay reworks the notion of distanciation by asking: what if we cannot decide whether the unnatural behavior of characters on screen is the product of Brechtian alienation or of the character’s own perversion, but rather is caused by both (and therefore neither)? To chart the transition between orthodox and “perverse” Brechtianisms, this essay compares a film by a director whose melodramas are often read as examples of Brechtian cinema, Douglas Sirk’s All That Heaven Allows (1955), and a film by a contemporary director whose work is often misread as the very thing it satirizes, Paul Verhoeven’s Elle (2016). This essay argues that, in the absence of a world “out there” to represent, the techniques of Brecht become perverse, a Sadean laboratory for the rehearsal of illicit forms of pleasure.

Scholars continue to puzzle over the meaning and rhetorical function of 1 Cor 6.12–20. For many, the burning question is historical: what prompted some Corinthian Christians to defend the use of prostitutes?1 Others have suggested that the rhetoric of the argument works only when certain Corinthian ‘slogans’ are identified and decoded. Still others ponder the predominantly individualistic focus of this section, within a letter labouring at almost every turn to shape Christian community. For several, the stumbling stone is Paul's ‘body’ language. In all of this, the precise contribution of v. 18 has been elusive.2 Increasingly popular is the view that 18b – every sin a man commits is outside the body – is a Corinthian ‘slogan’ known and cited by Paul only to be soundly debunked or at least substantially modified.3 The chief advantage of this view is obvious: a notorious Pauline crux becomes a mere Corinthian quirk. Nevertheless, a majority of interpreters (probably rightly) continue to identify all of v. 18 with Paul's own position, although there is little agreement over the nature of Paul's contrast between sexual sin and other sins. Some take Paul to be arguing for a ‘quantitative’ difference: sexual sin belongs toward the end of a continuum; whatever damage sin causes is intensified in the case of sexual sin. Others detect a sharper, ‘qualitative’ difference: sexual sin is different in kind, not just in degree, from other sins. The chart below (see over, pp. 542–3) collects and orders the principal alternatives we have outlined.4

AbstractThe emergence of Pentecostal scholarship in the last quarter century set the stage for fresh and ongoing dialogue concerning the relationship between Pauline and Lukan pneumatologies in the broader scholarly community. The collection of articles, theses, dissertations, and monographs attempting to chart and settle this relationship increases annually. To this collection, Asian scholar Youngmo Cho submits a valuable addition. In his 'Spirit and Kingdom in the Writings of Luke and Paul', Cho, as suggested by the subtitle, proposes 'An Attempt to Reconcile these Concepts.' Originally written as his PhD thesis at the University of Aberdeen under Andrew Clarke, this revised thesis is sure to contribute to the continuing discussion not only in Pentecostal circles but in the broader academic world. A detailed theologian Cho utilizes strong exegetical, lexicographical, and hermeneutical instincts to explore the unique early Christian contribution of Paul's innovative pneumatology against Luke's traditional intertestamental pneumatology. In this review essay I offer a thorough synopsis of Cho's work followed by a brief evaluation.

Black maritime labor was essentialto the capitalist world economy as European nations began to reconsolidate their Atlantic empires in the wake of the Haitian Revolution (1804) and Emancipation in the British West Indies (1838). British merchant vessels plying the waters of these lucrative Atlantic economies were often crewed by those colonial subjects whom they once held as commodities. Atlantic scholarship – most notably Paul Gilroy'sBlack Atlantic– has looked to the chronotope of the seafaring ship in its efforts to chart the cosmopolitan contours of the nineteenth century. For Gilroy, the ship gives figurative expression to a cultural and political remapping of modern racial formations that transcends the “boundaries and integrity of modern nation states” (4). Ships call to mind both the Middle Passage and the mercantile routes that joined the Americas with Europe, Africa, and the plantation zones of the Caribbean. For Peter Linebaugh and Marcus Rediker, black maritime circulation thus constituted one aspect of the “many-headed hydra” that unsettled the political sovereignty of European nation-states in the Atlantic world (31).

This study aims to determine how the implementation of quality control using statistical aids is useful in an effort to control the level of product damage in the company. Quality control analysis is carried out using statistical tools in the form of check sheets and p control maps. Check sheets are used to present data to make it easier to understand data for the purposes of subsequent analysis. P control maps are used to monitor damaged products whether they are still in control or not. The results of the P control chart analysis show that the process has been carried out well. This can be seen in the final product quality control chart with the final number of CL values showing 0.0049, UCL 0.0091, LCL 0.0007 with a proportion of 0.0050 defects which means that the quality control process is within controlled limits because the value of the defect proportion is smaller than the UCL value.

In recent years, a growing chorus of researchers has argued that psychological theory is in a state of crisis: Theories are rarely developed in a way that indicates an accumulation of knowledge. Paul Meehl raised this very concern more than 40 years ago. Yet in the ensuing decades, little has improved. We aim to chart a better path forward for psychological theory by revisiting Meehl’s criticisms, his proposed solution, and the reasons his solution failed to meaningfully change the status of psychological theory. We argue that Meehl identified serious shortcomings in our evaluation of psychological theories and that his proposed solution would substantially strengthen theory testing. However, we also argue that Meehl failed to provide researchers with the tools necessary to construct the kinds of rigorous theories his approach required. To advance psychological theory, we must equip researchers with tools that allow them to better generate, evaluate, and develop their theories. We argue that formal theories provide this much-needed set of tools, equipping researchers with tools for thinking, evaluating explanation, enhancing measurement, informing theory development, and promoting the collaborative construction of psychological theories.

Purpose – This paper aims to chart the influence of McCarthyism and of FBI surveillance practices on a number of prominent American social scientists, market researchers, opinion pollsters and survey research practitioners during the post-war years. Hitherto disparate sets of historical evidence on how Red Scare tactics influenced social researchers and marketing scientists are brought together and updated with evidence from original archival research. Design/methodology/approach – The paper draws on the existing secondary literature on how social research practitioners and social scientists reacted to the unusually high pressures on academic freedom during the McCarthy era. It supplements this review with evidence obtained from archival research, including declassified FBI files. The focus of this paper is set on prominent individuals, mainly Bernard Berelson, Samuel Stouffer, Hadley Cantril, Robert S. Lynd, Paul F. Lazarsfeld, Herta Herzog, Ernest Dichter, but also the Frankfurt School in exile. Findings – Although some of the historiography presents American social scientists and practitioners in the marketing research sector as victims of McCarthyism and FBI surveillance, it can also be shown that virtually all individuals in focus here also developed strategies of accommodation, compromise and even opportunism to benefit from the climate of suspicion brought about by the prevailing anti-Communism. Social implications – Anyone interested in questions about the morality of marketing, market research and opinion polling as part of the social sciences practiced in vivo will need to pay attention to the way these social-scientific practices became tarnished by the way prominent researchers accommodated and at times even abetted McCarthyism. Originality/value – Against the view of social scientists as harassed academic minority, evidence is presented in this paper which shows American social scientists who researched market-related phenomena, like media, voters choices and consumer behaviour, in a different light. Most importantly, this paper for the first time presents archival evidence on the scale of Paul F. Lazarsfeld’s surveillance by the FBI.

This article explores D.H. Lawrence’s autobiographical novel, Sons and Lovers (1913), through the lens of ecofeminism, focusing on the intricate emotional relationships between the protagonist, Paul, his mother, Mrs. Morel, and his two lovers, Miriam and Clara. In the context of the Industrial Revolution’s large-scale mechanization, Lawrence’s work sheds light on the profound environmental consequences of this era on the sustenance of modern human. The narrative further suggests that modern humanity has suffered significant suppression and destruction due to the dominance of mechanical civilization, resulting in a pervasive imbalance between humankind and nature, as well as among different societal groups, particularly in gender relations. Lawrence’s astute portrayal places gender relations on the grand stage of industrial civilization, resonating with the plight of both the natural environment and women who endured oppression under anthropocentrism or patriarchy. This paper adopts an intersectional perspective that simultaneously addresses the human-to-nature issue and the male-to-female issue within the framework of ecofeminism. Its primary objective is to illuminate Lawrence’s endeavor to chart a path for modern humanity’s survival. In doing so, Lawrence advocates for a harmonious equilibrium between societal development and the natural world, alongside the principle of gender equality. This approach embodies the essence of ecofeminism and underscores Lawrence’s profound humanistic concerns.

After the Turkish domination three monastic orders, the Jesuits, the Franciscans, and the order of the Hermits of St. Paul took major part at reconstruction, re-Catholicizing, and education in Hungary. Since the Paulines, as the sole order founded in Hungary, used the liturgy of Esztergom from the beginning of the 14th century, researches on 17–18th century music of the order focused mainly on mediaeval relics: survival of plain chant and the so-called Hungarian notation. Information about the musical life and the music of Paulines can be combined from two types of sources: from inventories, diaries, historia domus of dissolved monasteries, and from musical manuscripts (choir-books, organ-books) written and used by Pauline monks. The song repertoire (hymns) of the Baroque and early Classic era had been regarded of lesser value by Hungarian musicologists although Hungarian translations of some of the songs and their concordance with Franciscan manuscripts suggest a widespread use. Hungarian folksongs and melodies rooted in the folk tradition were not foreign to the Pauline practice: P. Gábor Koncz closed his songbook with Christmas carols which were in wide use in Hungarian folk tradition. Some polyphonic pieces also belong to the accurate and authentic picture of Pauline tradition of the 17–18th century. This polyphony requires no professional singers, it is a very simple, folk-like homophony in pastoral manner appropriate to education at schools.

At the age range of 3 to 5 years, nutrients that account for organ growth, particularly brain, is required. Therefore, it is very important to give children in their early childhood nutritious food intake. School Feeding Programme (SFP), abbreviated as SFP, is one of the program that is often held by Early Childhood Education Institution (ECEI), usually on Friday. The SFP administration is varied among ECEIs, but generally, some of the children’s parents cook the meals for the program in the school, though in some other ECEIs the meals are brought by the children from home. Nevertheless, SFP implementation is often incompatible with balanced and varied diet principles. The purpose of activity conducted is to deliver nutritional education and to make menu that meets the balanced and varied diet principle for SFP in ECEIs. The method used in field includes socialization of nutrients needed for early childhood children using slides, giving education regarding macro and micronutrient, and directing on menu making for SFP. The activity generated a menu for SFP comprises Rilakuma Fried Rice, Chicken Teriyaki with Rice, Rolled Egg, and Cambora Fettuccini. After being evaluated, all of the participants stated that this activity is beneficial as it improved children’s parrents’ knowledge in respect of balanced nutrition. Keywords: Eating Together Program, Early Childhood Education Institution, nutrition, menu, nutritional education.

In 1986, Janet Jackson forever changed the direction of pop music and its music videos with the release of her third and breakthrough album, Control. Working with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, choreographer Paula Abdul, and director Mary Lambert, Jackson created songs and videos that conveyed a new kind of feminist affect that intertwined individual stories of endurance, the forcefulness of relatively new digital music technology, and Black and female collectivity. In this article, I chart how Jackson transmitted this feminist affect through what I call hyperaurality, or sounds and vibrations that work in excess of the limitations of visual representation. Through tracing the affective excesses of Jackson’s visuals, sounds, and movements, I unpack how hyperaurality both intensifies and reintegrates the senses of sight, hearing, and feeling. In the process, I posit that vibration, or sound’s materially felt oscillations, works as a point of connection across these three aspects of hyperaurality. By demonstrating its connective power, I assert that vibration is a source of affective politics within popular music, one with the power of repurposing capitalism's excesses.

A field experiment was conducted at Pantnagar, Uttarkahand, during the winter (rabi) season of 201415, to study the effect of modern tools such as leaf colour chart (LCC) and chlorophyll meter (SPAD meter) on growth, yield and nitrogen-use efficiency in wheat [Triticum aestivum (L.) emend. Fiori & Paol.] crop. Application of N as 25 kg as basal + 40 kg (at LCC 4,5 and SPAD 35, 40) and 25 kg as basal + 40 kg at crown-root initiation + 40 kg at SPAD 40 (total 105 kg N/ha) resulted statistically similar growth and yield attributes, viz. shoot density, dry-matter accumulation, leaf-area index, number of spikes/m2, number of grains/spike, 1,000-grain weight, grain yield and higher values of agronomic efficiency, recovery efficiency than recommended nitrogen management with the sav- ing of 30% or 45 kg N/ha. Although result was at par in case of both, threshold value of LCC and SPAD, applica- tion of 40 kg N/ha at LCC 5 and SPAD 40 was found to be more effective than LCC 4 and SPAD 35. Higher re- turns of 3,292 were obtained in the recommended practice compared to next best treatment, i.e. application of 25 kg N as basal + 40 kg at SPAD 40. Therefore LCC and SPAD can be effective tool for efficient fertilizer N man- agement in wheat.

Abstract This study surveys the musical notation appearing in the liturgical manuscripts of the Order of St. Paul the First Hermit from the fourteenth until the eighteenth century. As a Hungarian foundation, the Pauline Order adopted one of the most elaborate and proportionate Gregorian chant notations of the medieval Catholic Church, the mature calligraphic Hungarian/Esztergom style, and used it faithfully, but in a special eremitical way in its liturgical manuscripts over an exceptionally long period, far beyond the Middle Ages. The research sought to study all the Pauline liturgical codices and codex fragments in which this Esztergom-Pauline notation emerges, then record the single neume shapes and supplementary signs of each source in a database. Systematic comparison has produced many results. On the one hand, it revealed the chronological developments of the Pauline notation over about four centuries. On the other hand, it has been possible to differentiate notation variants, to separate a rounded-flexible and a later more angular, standardized Pauline writing form based on the sources, thereby grasping the transition to Gothic penmanship at the turn of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. A further result of the study is the discovery of some retrospective Pauline notation types connected to the Early Modern and Baroque period, after the Tridentine Council. The characteristics of the notations of the choir books in the Croatian and the Hungarian Pauline provinces have been well defined and some individual subtypes distinguished – e.g. a writing variant of the centre of the Croatian Pauline province, Lepoglava.

IntroductionIn 2018, the National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics (NCPE) was commissioned to conduct a health technology assessment (HTA) of one of the first commercially available chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies, tisagenlecleucel. CAR T-cells are a major advance in personalized cancer treatment, demonstrating promising outcomes in relapsed/refractory pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (pALL). However, the results are based on short-term follow up, limiting their value in predicting long-term survival and leading to uncertainty about the most appropriate survival modeling method to employ. This study aimed to address these limitations by means of expert elicitation.MethodsAn expert elicitation method, the histogram technique, was employed. A predefined discrete numerical scale was presented in Microsoft Excel® and the expert was asked to place twenty crosses on a frequency chart. These crosses represented the expert's beliefs about the distribution of particular quantities. Each cross represented five percent of the probabilistic distribution. Individual distributions were then aggregated across experts using linear pooling.ResultsA total of seventeen experts were invited to take part; eight agreed to participate and five completed the exercise. Three experts did not consider tisagenlecleucel to be a “curative” therapy because patients had a higher risk of death, compared with the age- and sex-matched general population. The aggregated distributions indicated the five-year overall survival rate to be thirty-three percent (95% CI 8.65–56.88) in patients who do not receive a subsequent stem cell transplant and twenty percent (95% CI 2.38 -52.04) in those who do.ConclusionsThe results of this study will be used to calibrate CD19 CAR T-cell therapy survival estimates presented in HTA submissions to the NCPE to ensure more robust assessments. They will also be used to inform the construction of a de novo cost-utility model for examining the cost effectiveness of CD19 CAR T-cell therapies for relapsed/refractory pALL in the Irish healthcare setting.

The main focus of the study was to determine the factors of motivation among the G6-G10 students who study Chinese as a foreign language at Southville International School and Colleges (SISC). The result was expected to serve as a basis for the development of an action plan to motivate the students to learn the Chinese language further. This research will be designed on a quantitative descriptive correlational method, where numeric score ratings are assigned to gather the assessment of a specific respondent to observe a structured pattern. Quantitative research allows for objectivity, fast data collection and analysis of the data in a statistical form that can provide a thorough overview of the study (Health Research Funding, 2018). Aside from the descriptive quantitative design, correlation will also be used to further understand how variables relate with each other; according to I-Chant A. Chiang, Rajiv S. Jhangiani, and Paul C. Price (2013), correlation research is a non-experimental research design in which two variables are measured and assessed on the aspect of their statistical relationship in strength and range. The respondents' personal interest affects their motivation towards learning the Chinese language; according to them, they like challenging class work in Chinese because they can learn new knowledge, and they want to do better than their previous performance were among their several reasons. With parental encouragement, the students shared that their parents’ allow them to learn from previous poor performance; hence, they have better grades in Chinese courses now than before. Further, teachers showed encouragement by providing an outline of the topic to make it easier for the students to be proficient in the Chinese course, and most of the time, teachers do not judge the students when they answered questions in the Chinese language incorrectly.

IMGT®, the international ImMunoGeneTics® information system founded in 1989 by Marie-Paule Lefranc (Université de Montpellier and CNRS), marked the advent of immunoinformatics, a new science at the interface between immunogenetics and bioinformatics. For the first time, the immunoglobulin (IG) or antibody and T cell receptor (TR) genes were officially recognized as ‘genes’ as well as were conventional genes. This major breakthrough has allowed the entry, in genomic databases, of the IG and TR variable (V), diversity (D) and joining (J) genes and alleles of Homo sapiens and of other jawed vertebrate species, based on the CLASSIFICATION axiom. The second major breakthrough has been the IMGT unique numbering and the IMGT Collier de Perles for the V and constant (C) domains of the IG and TR and other proteins of the IG superfamily (IgSF), based on the NUMEROTATION axiom. IMGT-ONTOLOGY axioms and concepts bridge genes, sequences, structures and functions, between biological and computational spheres in the IMGT® system (Web resources, databases and tools). They provide the IMGT Scientific chart rules to identify, to describe and to analyse the IG complex molecular data, the huge diversity of repertoires, the genetic (alleles, allotypes, CNV) polymorphisms, the IG dual function (paratope/epitope, effector properties), the antibody humanization and engineering.

Introduction: The novel Paramedics Providing Palliative Care at Home program has been developed to address the mismatch between traditional paramedic practice and patient's goals of care. Case-finding is key to estimate potential impact for systems looking to establish such programs, continuous quality improvement once operational, and for prospective identification of patients who might benefit from referral to palliative care. Typical paramedic charting templates do not provide direct identification of these cases. Our objective was to test the validity of a previously derived Palliative Support Composite Measure (PSCM) and two modifications. Methods: A priori Gold Standard criteria for determining whether a response was appropriate for a paramedic palliative care approach were identified by expert consensus. Excluding chief complaints and clinical conditions that were universally identified as not appropriate for paramedic palliative support, these criteria were applied by two trained chart abstractors to 500 consecutive charts to classify calls as appropriate for paramedic palliative support, or not. The PSCM and modifications (added criteria call location type and registration in a palliative care program, text mining terms) were applied to the same cohort, and sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predicative (PPV/NPV) values calculated. Results: Of the 500 cases, 21 (4.2%) were classified as appropriate for paramedic palliative support by the Gold Standard (kappa 0.734). 9 cases with initial disagreement were reviewed with 8 ultimately being deemed to fit the palliative support criteria. The PSCM performed poorly (using the “potential palliative” cut point): sensitivity 71.4% (95%CI: 47.8-88.7), specificity 71.4% (95%CI: 67.1-75.4) and PPV of 9.9% (95%CI: 7.5-12.9) and NPV of 98.3% (95%CI: 96.7-99). The modified PSCM: sensitivity 61.9% (95% CI: 38.4-81.9), specificity 99% (95%CI: 97.6-99.7), PPV 72.2% (95%CI: 50.5-86.9) and NPV 98.3% (95%CI: 97.2-99). A Modified PSCM plus pall* text term performed similarly: sensitivity100% (83.9-100), specificity 97.3% (95% CI: 95.4-98.5), PPV 61.8% (95%CI: 48.6-73.4) and NPV100%. Conclusion: A modified PSCM provides moderate sensitivity, specificity and PPV, improved by the text term Pall* if feasible. This query will be helpful to systems considering a paramedic palliative care program or when one is already operational.

Introduction: Disease response criteria in pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (pAML) include complete remission (CR), complete remission without platelet count recovery (CRp), and complete remission with incomplete count recovery (CRi). Although clinicians use CR, CRp, and CRi as valid endpoints, the FDA only accepts CR as a valid response endpoint with the Cheson/European Leukemia Network (ELN) response criteria of absolute neutrophil count (ANC) >1,000 and platelets >100,000. Recent adult data show improved survival in patients achieving CR relative to CRp or CRi. Pediatric data from the Children's Oncology Group (COG) demonstrate similar survival regardless of achieving an ANC >500 or platelets >50,000. However, actual ANC and platelet data were not known, and COG data may not reflect outcomes of patients treated off study. Exclusion of CRp and CRi as valid efficacy endpoints limits clinical trials by potentially excluding patients who achieve remission but proceed to subsequent chemotherapy prior to meeting ELN recovery criteria. To address this data gap, we defined the ANC and platelet count trajectories in a 13-day window at end of course bone marrow (BM) after Induction I/II and Reinduction I/II of relapse therapy. We compared disease-free (DFS) and overall survival (OS) among CR categories and hypothesized that CR, CRp, and CRi after Induction I and Reinduction I would be associated with similar DFS and OS. Methods: Newly diagnosed pAML patients from 2011-2022 with at least one frontline chemotherapy course at one of six pediatric centers (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Children's Hospital of Michigan, C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, Lurie Children's Hospital, and Texas Children's Hospital) underwent manual chart abstraction to capture demographic, therapy, toxicity, and BM response data: morphologic and minimal residual disease (MRD). The highest daily ANC and platelet counts were abstracted ±13 days around the last BM aspirate after Induction I/II and reinduction I/II post relapse. ELN and COG recovery criteria for ANC (>1,000 and >500, respectively) and platelet (>100,000 and >50,000, respectively) defined CR, CRp and CRi; CRi was further divided into CRnoANC and CRnoANCnoPlatelet. Standard descriptive statistics and Kaplan-Meier (KM) methods were used for analyses. Course-specific evaluations were restricted to subjects with an end of course BM documenting morphological response and ANC/platelet values on the day of course ending BM or 1 day prior. Results: The source population contained 486 patients with the analysis cohort restricted as described above to include 313 patients in Induction I, 290 patients in Induction II, 70 patients in Reinduction I, and 34 patients in Reinduction II. This represents 707 total courses and 8933 ANC/platelet observation days, restricted from 1166 courses (371 without morphologic response and 88 lacked ANC/platelet at course end BM). Demographic covariates included age, sex, race, ethnicity, risk group, MRD, extramedullary disease, weight category, and insurance. At Induction I, MRD differed significantly by CR category for ELN and COG criteria; risk group approached but did not reach significance; and Hispanic ethnicity differed by CR category only in COG criteria. No covariates differed significantly at Reinduction I in either ELN or COG criteria. At Induction I, CR proportion differed between ELN and COG criteria: 40.9% (95% CI 35.5-46.6%) vs 69.6% (95% CI 64.2%-74.7%). At Reinduction I, CR proportion differed between ELN and COG criteria: 18.6% (95% CI 10.3-29.7%) vs 47.1% (95% CI 35.1-59.4%). Panel 1a shows median ANC at Induction I BM is <1000 (ELN) but >500 (COG) in >75% of individuals. KM analyses showed no significant differences in CR strata in ELN or COG criteria in DFS or OS at Induction I. At Reinduction I, ELN CR strata did not differ, but COG CR strata were significantly different in DFS (p = 0.0007) and OS (p = 0.0019) with CRp and CRnoANC with higher DFS than CR or CRnoANCnoPlatelet (Panel 1b). Conclusion: These real-world data suggest that ELN/COG response criteria may lead to markedly different CR rates that may impact reported response rates in clinical trials. These analyses also support COG CR response criteria in de novo pAML and CR, CRp, and CRnoANC in relapsed pAML, recognizing that the modest relapsed pAML sample size requires additional data to determine optimal response criteria.

Herbaceous peony (Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) is a well-known ornamental plant with abundant flower colors. However, our understanding of the underlying mechanisms of flower color formation is limited. In this study, a wild sample of herbaceous peony (collected from Heze, China) and eight cultivars with different colors were selected for experimental investigation. The Royal Horticultural Society Color Chart was used to determine flower color, and the anatomic structure; cell sap pH value; moisture content (MC); condensed tannin content (Ct); soluble sugar and soluble protein content of the petals; and content and composition of anthocyanin, flavonoids, and carotenoids in the petals were examined. 1) In the white, pinkish white, pale purple, purplish pink, and reddish purple cultivars, deeper color was associated with greater total amounts of anthocyanin (TA). Hypochromic effects were observed for kaempferol-7-O-glucoside (Km7G), myricetin-3-rhamnoside (My3R), and luteolin-7-O-glucoside (Lu7G). The accumulation of quercetin-3-O-glucoside (Qu3G) and lutein affected yellow color formation in the petals. 2) There are papillate epidermal cells in the petals of the wild P. lactiflora sample, ‘Lanyucangjin’, and ‘Dongjingnvlang’. 3) Cell sap pH and MC of the petals of white, pinkish white, pale purple, and purplish pink cultivars were greater than those of the purplish red and most of the reddish purple cultivars. 4) The Ct was greatest in the purplish red cultivars, whereas no condensed tannins were detected in the white, pinkish white, and pale purple cultivars. 5) There were no significant correlations among soluble sugar content, soluble protein content, and the other physiological indications.

Abstract Background: Interprofessional collaboration and team-based care in oncology has become increasingly important given the complexity of new therapies and their associated side effect profiles. It has been demonstrated that clear and thorough communication improves patient satisfaction and patient adherence. Previously, students described a deficit of adequate oncology education in their curriculum. Incorporating learners from different educational disciplines to care for oncology patients in a breast clinic is an innovative idea that has not been previously published. Objectives: This study will evaluate patient satisfaction and learners’ competencies and confidence after an interprofessional education collaboration aimed at enhancing chemotherapy education and toxicity management. Methods: A single center study was conducted at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC) from August 2020 through April 2021. Patient population was adults receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer. Learner population was medical and pharmacy students and residents. Learners received a brief educational orientation and then completed education and assessment sessions with patients. Sessions were prior to first chemotherapy, 2-4 days after chemotherapy, and then 1-3 days prior to next cycle of chemotherapy. Surveys of satisfaction and competencies were prospective but chart review for symptoms and interventions were retrospective. Results: 20 learners and 9 patients participated in the experience. Median of 4 encounters per patient were completed. 79 chemotherapy issues/toxicities were identified with 11 (14%) interfering in daily activities. 47 interventions were made and improvement was seen in 44 (56%) problems. Patient survey revealed that all 9 patients (100%) reported they were completely satisfied with education aimed at understanding side effects. One patient reported they were somewhat satisfied with understanding how to use their medication correctly and safely while the other 8 reported very satisfied (89%). Learners self-assessment tool revealed improvement in confidence in teach back (p=0.002) and interprofessional education competencies (p=0.01). Discussion: Incorporating medical and pharmacy learners in interprofessional care can help patients understand their treatment and help in management of toxicity. Limitations of the experience included faculty’s involvement in the discussions and interventions may overestimate the contribution of learners. In addition, the retrospective nature of the chart review may underestimate the symptoms for patients and overestimate the proportion of problems that were improved. The article discusses the existing studies on the issue of financial monitoring and the suggestions that their authors have. The discussion of these studies begins with the American scientist Edward Altman's Z-model, which he proposed to predict the risk of bankruptcy for companies. The article presents both an earlier and a modified version of the Z-model developed by Edward Altman. The article also discusses and evaluates the 9-factor model developed by V. Fulmer and R. Saifulin and G. Kadikov's four-factor models. Among the more recent studies in the field of monitoring is the study of the Portuguese scientist Ana Paula Lopez, who found that the companies served by the audiences of the "big four" no longer cheat in the financial part. Malaysian scholars Noor Aisha Nizan and Zuhaikha Zailan found in 2019 that it is best to combine financial audits with technological and human audits. Also, in 2019, Vilnius scientist P. Poshinaus argued that monitoring should be carried out only by economic-mathematical methods, because they provide great opportunities for finding financial irregularities. And in 2020, Czech scientist Aneta Zemankova proposed to the public to use artificial intelligence in monitoring. With its implementation, smart audit procedures and smart contracts can be performed in an automated manner. The authors of the article conclude that the auditors of Georgia, due to the low level of mathematical education, cannot use blockchains and artificial intelligence, but also economic-mathematical models in the audit, and raise the issue of the need to retrain them in this direction. The article discusses the issues of dividing diversified companies into responsibility centers and their financial monitoring. Abstract Background The aim of this pragmatic, embedded adaptive trial was to measure the effectiveness of subcutaneous sarilumab in addition to an evolving standard of care for clinical management of inpatients with moderate to severe COVID-19 disease (NCT04359901). The study is also a real-world demonstration of the realization of a prospective learning healthcare system. Methods Two-arm, randomized, open-label controlled 5-center trial comparing standard care alone to standard care (SOC), which evolved over time, with addition of subcutaneous sarilumab (200 mg or 400 mg anti-IL6R) among hospitalized patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 not requiring mechanical ventilation. The primary outcome was 14-day incidence of intubation or death. The trial used a randomized play-the-winner design and was fully embedded within the EHR system, including the adaptive randomization process. Results Among 417 patients screened, 162 were eligible based on chart review, 53 consented, and 50 were evaluated for the primary endpoint of intubation or death ( >30% of eligible patients enrolled) (Figure 1). After the second interim review, the unblinded Data Monitoring Committee recommended that the study be stopped due to concern for safety: a high probability that rates of intubation or death were higher with addition of sarilumab to SOC (92.6%), and a very low probability (3.4%) that sarilumab would be found to be superior. Figure 1. Key Study Milestones, Outcomes, and Adaptations Conclusion This randomized trial of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 and requiring supplemental oxygen but not mechanical ventilation found no evidence of benefit from subcutaneous sarilumab in addition to an evolving standard-of-care. The numbers of patients and events were too low to allow independent conclusions to be drawn, but this study contributes valuable information about the role of subcutaneous IL-6 inhibition in the treatment of patients hospitalized with COVID-19. The major innovation of this trial was the advancement of embedded, point-of-care clinical trials for FDA-approved drugs; this represents a realization of the learning healthcare system. Methods developed and piloted during the conduct of this trial can be used in future investigations to speed the advancement of clinical science. Abstract Background Although majority of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases demonstrate mild to asymptomatic disease, COVID-19 can cause serious complications and death. However, risk factors for development of such complications are not well understood. The purpose of this study was to identify risk factors for intubation, cardiac arrest, and death in COVID-19 patients. Methods A retrospective chart review of COVID-19 subjects was conducted of the first 185 patients for whom we had complete data sets. Subjects were adult inpatients with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who were hospitalized between March and May 2020 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. Data including demographics, comorbidities, laboratory results, treatments, and outcomes were collected. Data were analyzed using logistic regression models and receiver operating characteristic curves in SAS 9.4. Results Of the first 185 subjects hospitalized for COVID-19, 26% of patients were intubated, 9% experienced cardiac arrest, and 17% died. Subjects who required intubation were more likely to exhibit elevated triglycerides, sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), acute kidney injury (AKI), elevated troponin levels, altered mental status, leukocytosis, lymphopenia and elevated ferritin (P< 0.05) (Table 1). Troponin elevation, ARDS, AKI and thrombocytopenia were risks for cardiac arrest (P< 0.05) (Table 2). Risk of death was increased in those presenting with advanced age, critical or severe disease, lymphopenia or thrombocytopenia, and in those with history of coronary artery disease (CAD) (P< 0.05) (Table 3). Patients presenting with AKI, elevated Troponin, ARDS, pressor requirements, critical disease, and sepsis were at increased risk of intubation, cardiac arrest, and death (P< 0.05) (Tables 1–3). Table 1: Top non-ICU related risk factors for intubation ordered by AUC. Table 2: Top risk factors for cardiac arrest ordered by AUC. Table 3: Top risk factors for death ordered by AUC. Conclusion In this rapidly evolving pandemic, clinician awareness of risk factors for clinically significant outcomes such as intubation and mortality is essential. Assessment of risk factors like those highlighted in this study can aid in clinical decision-making and predicting patient outcomes. As more data becomes available we aim to develop a validated scoring system to assist clinicians in patient care. Disclosures Paul P. Background:Janus Kinase Inhibitors (JAKi) have recently been approved for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) over the last years. JAKi differ in their specificity for the different JAK family members (JAK1, JAK2, JAK3 and TYK2). All three JAKis that are currently approved in Switzerland seem to have comparable efficacy on different disease stages of RA. Whether a JAKi can be effective after discontinuation of another JAKi is one of the open questions of interest according to the EULAR RA guidelines [1].Objectives:To study the effectiveness of baricitinib in patients with RA after discontinuation of tofacitinib. Methods:Longitudinal, retrospective chart review conducted between October 2019 and December 2020 of patients with RA at two Swiss centers (Kantonsspital Aarau and Inselspital Bern). Disease activity was assessed by DAS 28.Results:12 patients (1 male, 11 female) were treated with 4mg baricitinib/d after tofacitinib was discontinued. Mean age of the patients was 61 years, disease duration 140 months. Patients were previously treated with at least two conventional synthetic DMARDs and 75% with at least one biological DMARD. 58% of patients were positive for ACPA, 42% for rheumatoid factor. 50% of the patients suffered from erosive disease. Tofacitinib was stopped in 92% of the patients because of an insufficient response after a mean of 25.8 months. Moderate EULAR response was achieved in 83.3% of the patients after an average of 8 months treatment with baricitinib, and good EULAR response in 58.3% after an average of 10 months. There were no serious adverse events, neoplasms, opportunistic or serious infections during follow-up.Conclusion:The first retrospective analysis of real-world data of baricitinib following tofacitinib shows that there is a good clinical response in 70% of cases. Although limited by the number of patients this study therefore supports the notion that baricitinib after discontinuation of tofacitinib in RA patients may be an effective therapeutic option.References:[1]Smolen JS, Landewé RBM, Bijlsma JWJ, et al. Management of fertilizer nitrogen in rice (Oryza sativa L.) and wheat (Triticum aestivum L. emend. Fiori & Paol.) in India typically consists of blanket recommendations, developed for large tracts having similar climate and land forms. It cannot help the increase N-use efficiency beyond a limit. Further improvement can be achieved only by planning strategies for fertilizer N management responsive to temporal variations in crop N demand and fieldiito- field variability in soil-N supply. Improvement in the synchrony between crop N demand and the N supply from soil or the applied N fertilizer is likely to be the most promising strategy to improve N-use efficiency. It can be achieved by following real-time N management based on periodic assessment of plant-N status and delayed application of fertilizer N until the N level goes below a critical level. Gadgets like chlorophyll-meter (SPAD-meter) and inexpen- sive leaf colour chart (LCC) have proved quick and reliable tools to decide the time when fertilizer N needs to be applied to the crop. Recently significant progress has been made in the development and on-farm evaluation of LCC-based real-time N management in rice, but there is a need to work out appropriate criteria for using need- based N-management strategy in wheat. Optical sensors offer an opportunity to take into account both plant N sta- tus (or leaf colour) as well as crop biomass for making crop-demand-driven fertilizer-N recommendations. Combi- nation of preventive location-specific split schedule with corrective LCC or SDAD-meter or optical sensor-based N management constitutes another attractive strategy for achieving high N-use efficiency in rice and wheat. The fixed-time or adjustable-dose approach seems very promising for wheat, because unlike in rice, the fertilizer appli- cations need to be synchronized with irrigation events. Appropriate preventive fertilizer-N management scenarios need to be worked out that can be used before using the SPAD meter, LCC or optical sensors to guide corrective fertilizer-N application at a given crop-growth stage.

Abstract Background LCMC3 (NCT02927301), an open-label, single-arm Phase 2 study to investigate neoadjuvant (neoadj) and adj atezo (anti-PD-L1) in patients (pts) with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), met its primary endpoint with a 20% major pathological response (MPR) rate after neoadj atezo. Here we report efficacy and safety from the adj phase. Methods Eligible pts aged ≥18 y had resectable stage IB-IIIA or select IIIB NSCLC and ECOG PS of 0 or 1. Pts received neoadj atezo 1200 mg IV for ≤2 cycles (Days 1 and 22) followed by surgery (Day 40±10). Pts deemed to have clinical benefit were offered the option to receive adj atezo every 3 weeks for up to 12 months. The primary endpoint was MPR rate (≤10% viable tumor cells at surgery) in pts without EGFR/ALK mutations. Exploratory endpoints included DFS and OS. Safety was assessed during the adj phase. Results Data cutoff was Oct 21, 2022. The primary efficacy population (PEP) was 137 pts without EGFR/ALK alterations who had surgery and MPR assessment. In the PEP, 53 pts (39%) received adj atezo and 84 (61%) did not. The 3-y DFS rate was 83% with adj atezo vs 64% without (HR, 0.43; 95% CI: 0.21, 0.90; P=0.025). 3-y OS and results by MPR status are provided in the table. In the adj atezo safety population (n=57), treatment-related (TR) AEs after adj atezo occurred in 55 pts (97%; Gr 3/4, 40%), including 11 TRAEs (19%; Gr 3/4, 16%) leading to discontinuation of adj atezo. No Gr 5 TRAEs were seen in the adj phase. Multivariate analysis also showed a trend toward better DFS for pts receiving adj atezo vs those with no adj atezo (HR, 0.52; 95% CI: 0.22, 1.21; P=0.126). Conclusions This exploratory analysis revealed that LCMC3 pts with resectable stage IB-IIIA or select IIIB NSCLC who received adj atezo had improved DFS and showed a trend toward improved OS vs pts who did not receive adj atezo. Furthermore, the non-MPR subgroup had the same trend toward improved DFS and OS with adj atezo vs pts who did not receive adj atezo. Adj atezo was well tolerated, with no new safety concerns.
