From the beginning formation this office, through its evolution and actual obligatory norms of canon law, this office always write in mission of Church, joint action in realize and many methods activity community of the People of God. Moreover office of deans, definite authorizations and obligations always have on in view help of the diocesan bishop in performance pastoral service in particular Church. The deans as representative of presbytery the Włocławek Church, in light discussion rules of Włocławek synodal legislation, had belong and belong to nearest and most trustworthy collaborators of the diocesan bishop and have very important part in structure of this Church. The synodal legislation of Włocławek made and make with dean assistant of the diocesan bishop, mediator between the diocesan bishop and the diocesan curia, and priest and faithful deanery in specified matter. In the beginning dean introduced synodal legislation and orders of the diocesan bishop in life denary and individual parishes, was guardian of faith, customs and discipline. After the Council of Trent this office took bigger meaning and not limit to function control and inspect work priest in deanery, but also administrative in design assistance of the diocesan bishop in control of the diocese. After the Council of Vatican II to duty of the dean join pastoral duty in deanery. On the person dean and his service in big degree depend realization of mission of the Church. The synodal legislation of Włocławek made for detail designation function and assignment of deans servant designs inspection and administration-pastoral of the Włocławek Church. In they light office and service dean had and has take for this, that under leadership of the dean all priest in deanery commit in priesthood realize priest and pastoral vocation, realize duty result with leadership of parish, take cooperation, with fruit will be animation religious and pastoral life in the particular Church, and also will be realize – peaceably with rules of cannon law – service pastoral, sanctify and teaching of faithful.

The history of the office of dean rural, like that of the office of the archdeacon, is shrouded in the mists of ancient Church history. It is however clear that since the rural dean, by whatever name he was called, stood in a relationship to the parochial clergy beyond the immediate episcopal environment, the history of the rural dean's office is directly related to the development of the parochial system. The development of this system is vastly different in the various corners of Christendom, and the appearance of the dean rural, or his equivalent, varies by nearly four centuries from place to place.

Walter Dean Burnham (1965, 1970) demonstrated that non-voting and various measures of aggregate electoral instability increased between 1900 and the late 1920s, declined somewhat during the New Deal and its aftermath, and increased thereafter. To Burnham, the behavior of these measures implied a similar evolution in the partisan strength of the electorate since individuals without strong partisan ties are characterized by lower levels of turnout and more inconsistent turnout and partisan choices, both over time for the same office and across different offices in the same year. In short, he argued that the entire twentieth century, save for the New Deal, was marked by an “onward march of party decomposition.”

The role of dean in a business school is, by design, more strategic than tactical. And, when the various stakeholders that a dean must interact with are considered, the ability of a dean to have much of an operating knowledge of what is going on in the teaching and learning space of a school is very limited. The problem, however, is that the dean must be an advocate for this critical function of the business school mission. To understand how these two dimensions might be reconciled, this article looks at the drivers of a dean’s perspective and the disengagement these drivers create. The article ends by suggesting ways for a dean to stay connected to this vital function of the school.

The paper describes and examines the factors that influence leadership effectiveness of deans and the concept of competence of deans using the evolution of deanship as a welfare system to a system of accountability in Ghana. The study explores what defines leadership competence in Higher Education in Ghana and how the process of becoming a dean can influence effective performance. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected from 38 respon Three public Universities in Ghana were used for the stu- dy. Data was collected from 38 respondents using interviews and survey methods. The respondents include a vice-chancellor, a pro-vice-chancellor, deans, and faculty members. The paper explores the respondents’ perception of a competent dean and identifies two categories of competence: technical competence and leadership competence. Generally, leadership competences are put ahead of technical competences for effective deans’ performace. Five core themes for leadership competences were identified and these include personal competences, visionary competences, administrative competences, people competences and networking competences. Also, three processes of becoming a dean have also emerged in Ghana. These are the elective, the selective and the appointive processes. The study finds that the effectiveness of deans is largely influenced by inadequate leadership competences and grooming, absence of clearly defined and well commu- nicated job descriptions as well as performance management practices that seek accountability of deans in Ghana. The study recommends the appointment of deans through standard recruitment practices, rather than election or selection. It also recommends leadership assessment and training for leadership competences before a dean takes office.

In this article, the author honours three former Deans of Law of The Australian National University: Jack Richardson, Harry Whitmore, and Michael Coper. His remarks are derived from three speeches he gave in 2012: the 2012 Harry Whitmore Memorial Lecture,1 the 2012 Jack Richardson Memorial Lecture,2 and an address to The Australian National University's 2012 Law Alumni Dinner on the occasion of the retirement from the Deanship of Michael Coper.3 Jack Richardson and Harry Whitmore were pioneers of Australian administrative law. Michael Coper, a constitutional lawyer whose views were shaped by his family's direct experience of Nazism, served as Dean for a record term of 15 years. The author reflects on the life stories of these three Law Deans, and derives some conclusions on the nature of the office of Dean of Law in a modern Australian University.4

Deans, in the organisation of the Church, are to assist the diocesan bishop in the exercise of governance in the territory that is part of the diocese. This area is called a deanery. In the history of the Church, deans have been seen as assistants to bishops. This article discusses the attributes of the office and deans’ obligations as set out in the 1928 Synod of Bishop Leon Wałęga. The First Synod of the Diocese of Tarnów was a transmission belt that made the provisions of the 1917 Code of Canon Law a reality in the Diocese of Tarnów. The particular legislator, Bishop Leon Wałęga, encouraged the clergy to surround deans with the reverence and trust due to them, considering them as elder brothers who, on behalf of the authorities, performed demanding duties for the common good. To date, no comprehensive study of this topic has appeared. As a starting point for the reflection on the office of dean, the etymology of the word is discussed, followed by a brief look at its archetypes: chorepiscopi, visitators and archdeacons.

The objectives of this study are: discover the linguistic features in the opening strategy, closing strategy, and directness of the head-acts in the request letters; identify and analyze positive and negative politeness strategies used in request letters sent by students, organizations, and companies to the office of the Dean of Student Affairs; investigate the use of politeness strategies that indicates about linguistic conventions. This study employed a mixed-methods research design, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative analyses. The primary data for this study consists of request letters from students at St. Vincent's College Incorporated and various organizations within and outside the academic institution. The researcher selected 15 request letters submitted to the Dean of Student Affairs Office during the 2021-2022 academic year. This study employed three tiers of corpus analysis. The research reveals that request letters sent to the Dean of Student Affairs Office at the institution employ a diverse range of politeness strategies. The "other complimentary close and other pre-closing" is another element of the closure strategy that the researcher discovered. The head-acts shown that request letters are often direct on a degree of directness. The utilization of politeness strategies within a broader socio-cultural context illuminates established linguistic norms. The diverse inclinations towards employing politeness strategies and their multifaceted applications in request letter communication do not necessarily indicate a transition from impoliteness to politeness or vice versa. It demonstrates that people's communication styles and methods of politeness are evolving.

The main task of a higher educational establishment is to train and educate highly qualified specialists. At a Medical University the object of study and the subject of the future activity of a specialist is a person, and the quality of training for a medical graduate should be at the top level. In the system of administration of a higher educational establishment, the basic level is faculty one. At the educational establishment each faculty has its own specified task and a part of the eventual goal is the training of a qualified specialist who is able to decide important tasks for the protection and preservation of population health. Medical faculty No 1 is one of the main organizational and educational-scientific structural subdivisions of the Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy, which was founded by the decision of the Academic Council, combines various departments, and works in accordance with the normative base. At each faculty, the dean works directly with the students. All dean's office members work with students directly at all stages of students’ molding as specialists and personalities. The dean's office of the medical faculty No 1 supports the organization and control of the educational process at the faculty; provides information for the assuring of high-grade educational process; controls the training of medical students; provides office work and document circulation according to the legislation. To provide effective educational process, the dean of the medical faculty No 1 and dean’s officers monitor the success and attendance of classes carefully and systematically, assist tutors in charge in organizational work with academic groups. Obligatory work of the dean’s office administration is participation in the group meetings, courses’ gathering according to organizational and educational issues, and realization of routine site meetings. Cultural, sports, health-improving, public, and volunteer kinds of work are very important for interest of young people in education. In the process of learning it is important to form a comprehensively developed personality. The dean and his mates deal with the issue of providing the medical students with hostels or other accommodation. Control for the organization and performing of professional training course is constant duties of the dean's office. This is one of the most important stages in the education of a future doctor. The specificity of the medical profession requires constant contact with colleagues, because there are different situations that require consultation with leading specialists, who are highly qualified professionals. At many public and private medical establishments pedagogical activity and medical-consultative work are carried out by the teachers of the academy, who ensure the professional development of young medical specialists. Thus, the administrative work of the dean's office is constantly improved and modified in accordance with current conditions. According to modern challenges of organizing the educational process on line, the dean's office members work on the digital platforms, master the information technology, and develop new methods of work that ensure the formation of a highly educated and competitive specialist as a modern doctor.

Law enforcement officers’ communication with criminalized persons is an integral part of their professional activities, and the readiness to confidently use certain improvised means for self-defense is a skill that can save lives and preserve health of an officer during official communication actions. The purpose of the article is to characterize the means of self-defense of law enforcement officers when dealing with criminalized persons in their offices. The methodology of the study was based on the analysis of theoretical provisions and the synthesis of practical experience in the field of self-defense when dealing with criminals. Results of the study and conclusions. The author of the article highlights the practical aspects of professional communication with criminalized persons and identifies a number of means by which a law enforcement officer can protect his/her life and health in the event of a collision with such persons in the office premises. The author noted that law enforcement officers should adhere to a business style of communication and be able to protect themselves with improvised means at the time of a threat to life and health from a criminalized person during communications in the office. Key words: means of self-defense, law enforcement officer, communication, professional activity.

Deans of the Faculty of Law, University of Wrocław, in 1811–1911The aim of the article is to shed some light on the figures of professors serving as deans in the first one hundred years of the Faculty of Law at the German University of Wrocław. However, the author’s intention is to analyse not their scholarly achievements, but, rather, the individual career paths in the organisational sphere of the leading figures of German jurisprudence. The author points to the term limit applying to the office of dean and the age structure of the German professors appointed deans of the Faculty of Law. In addition, he presents the academic careers of all 34 deans and points to some patterns in appointments to the office. Die Dekane der Juristischen Fakultät der Universität Breslau in den Jahren 1811–1911Das Ziel dieses Artikels ist, die Silhouetten der Professoren, die die Dekanpflichten in der Zeit der ersten hundert Jahre des Bestehens der Juristischen Fakultät der deutschen Universität zu Breslau ausübten, näher zu bringen. Es geht hier aber nicht um die Analyse des wissenschaftlichen Werkes, aber vielmehr um den organisatorischen Bereich der Entwicklung individueller Karieren der einzelnen Koryphäen der deutschen Rechtswissenschaft. Im Artikel wurde die Aufmerksamkeit auf die zeitliche Begrenzung der Amtszeit und die Altersstruktur der deutschen Professoren der Juristischen Fakultät, die die Dekanwürde übernahmen, gerichtet. Vorgestellt wurde auch der Verlauf der wissenschaftlichen Kariere aller 34 Dekane. Der Autor weist noch auf gewisse Regelmäßigkeiten bei der Besetzung dieses Postens hin.

Makerere University is focused on being a research-led university, which necessitates it embrace an internationalisation agenda to fit into the global research network. There is a need to boost the number of international graduate students to help Makerere University realise her vision. This qualitative study explores how international graduate students are supported at Makerere University. The following objective guided it: to explore how international graduate students are supported at Makerere University. The study was anchored in the interpretivism world view, subscribing to the transcendental phenomenology of Edmund Husserl to uncover the support given to international graduate students. Eight international graduate students at Makerere University were interviewed and selected from different academic disciplines categorised according to Becher and Biglan's classification of academic disciplines. Both unstructured interviews and documentary check data generation strategies were used in this study. Data analysis followed a thematic approach whereby various forms of support were provided to international graduate students at Makerere University, and how it is provided was identified. It was concluded that those international graduate students received non-academic and academic support at Makerere University. This study recommends that Makerere University Management provide financial, human, and physical resources to the International Office as ways of facilitating international graduate students to complete their study programs and attracting many more to join the University. The International Office may work with the Office of the Dean of Students to organise events for graduate students to facilitate interactions between international and domestic students, and they may also put in place peer mentors for new international graduate students to foster a sense of community. This study recommends that the International Office work very closely with the schools in the different Colleges of Makerere University, especially establishing a desk officer in each of the Dean's Office to handle issues of international students as this may improve their numbers at Makerere University. Finally, the university management should strengthen and streamline the activities of the International Office at Makerere University

Following an energizing reorganization of the first floor, the University of Idaho Library sought additional strategies to support student learning and success. Building on previous successful collaborations with the Dean of Students Office, the Library and Tutoring Services created a model to offer peer-tutoring services in the library. Several philosophical and practical guidelines were considered, and implementation of the service, while challenging, was ultimately successful. Strategies for proposing, building, and maintaining similar partnerships with student services units are discussed, with best practices offered for other institutions seeking similar collaboration.

The origins of this comment lie in Charles George KC's article: ‘Do we still need the faculty system?’1 which came towards the end of his tenure of office as Dean of the Arches and Auditor (2009–2020). George himself acknowledged that his conclusion, namely that a no-holds-barred review of the faculty system would now be appropriate, might come as ‘rather a surprise’ and that some might have expected his answer to his own question to be in the affirmative: namely, that we do still need a faculty system.

Digital Campus is a website application that is in University Tun Hussien Onn Pagoh Campus. The purpose of this website is to search all locations located in Pagoh Campus such as laboratory, admin office, dean office, cafe and classroom. Digital campus website is embedded with Open Street Map. It is open databased licensing and it is a collaborative mapping. This website is developed using Joomla 3.8.13 with PHP version, 5.6.25. There are 204 locations were plotted using this link https://digitalcampus.uthm.edu.my/index.php. Digital campus based on Open Street Map can helps students, admin staff, lectures and visitors to find location in very easy way by using digital platform. Thus, this application facilities can optimization of administration work and promote university management to higher performances.

There is a need for Universities to encourage the continuing development of administrative skills among faculty in order to meet the challenges of the future. National and university initiatives have been developed to recognize this need. This sabbatic leave was developed to provide a significant, active, and meaningful administrative experience in the Office of the Dean at the University of Rhode Island. This paper presents information on the structure, activities and involvement; and benefits to the participating faculty member, administrator, and institutions. The case study presented was both worthwhile and enriching for the participants, and strengthening for the sponsoring institutions.

The study describes the Secured CCSPC Web-Based Student Clearance System's use and predicted effects. Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), Sublime editor, Bootstrap, and MySQL as the database tool were used to create the clearance system. This system includes two-factor authentication for students and designated offices. In the clearance system, a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) for data transit, as well as a software firewall and anti-SQL Injection attack, were offered and implemented. The CCSPC Portal was linked to the web-based student clearance system and Web API, with Web API acting as a bridge between SIMone and the clearance system. SIMone's role is to offer just a limited amount of information on the web-based clearing, such as designated office operations, account status from the Cashier, and student profiles from the Registrar. Students and the approved offices in charge of signing the student clearance include the Graduating Class Association (GCA) Treasurer, Laboratory Custodian, Cashier, Librarian, Academic Related Services (ARS), SPEED Director, Department Chairperson, College Dean, and the Registrar. The ISO 9126-1 International Standard Tool for Software Evaluation, on the other hand, was utilized in the CCSPC beneficiaries' surveys to test the system's effectiveness and reliability.

The article examines a series of events related to the criminal prosecution of Nikolai Kornatovsky, a prominent party historian, professor, and the former dean of the Faculty of History at Leningrad State University. Amidst the political purges of the 1940s and 1950s, echoing the “Leningrad Affair”, Kornatovsky was expelled from the party, dismissed from high administrative positions, and arrested in 1951 on false charges of anti-Soviet activities. The trial over Kornatovsky has been reconstructed on the basis of the documents of supervision proceedings revealed by the author and previously not used by the researchers. The study particularly focuses on the interconnectedness between Kornatovsky’s personal case within the Bolshevik Party and the initiation of criminal proceedings against him by the Ministry of State Security of the USSR; on the mechanisms of forming the evidentiary base during the preliminary investigation. The article also explores the role of expert commissions in the case and the significance of the examination of the historian’s scholarly works as a key procedural action. The article reveals the principles of compilation of witnesses’ testimonies and other statements during the historian’s trial. Furthermore, details of the efforts by Kornatovsky and his spouse, Maria Kornatovskaya, to appeal a guilty verdict are revealed Additionally, the article presents the outcome of the appeal in 1954, the role of the Prosecutor’s Office of the USSR,and administrative-party structures of the Central Committee of the Bolshevik Party during the relevant stage, as well as the rationale behind the termination of criminal prosecution against Kornatovsky.

Synod legislators from Wloclawek, while determining in detail the rights and duties of the deans, wanted them to guarantee increase of discipline, morality and Ethics amongst the priesthood as well as to contribute to revival of priesthood and were the tool of introduction into parish life the common, provincial and diocesan law. First of all, the following synods: bishop’s Stanislaw Kamkowski (1568) and bishops’s Hieronim Rozrażewski (1585,1586,1589 and 1598) as well as synods of bishop’s: Pawel Wolucki’s (1617, 1620 and 1622), Andrzej Lipski; s (1628) and Maciej Lubienski’s (1634) had decisive influence on from of dean’s office in Wloclawek diocese, its functioning and tasks. Amongst the tasks and duties of the deans, decanal congregations had very important role and greatness. They were considered as important tool of forming church discipline amongst the priesthood by oil Wloclawek’s synods post-trident period undertaking this subject. Synod legislators, referring to regulations of Trident Council, to Pastoral of cardinal Maciejowski and to resolutions of provincial synods, had obliged the deans to regular conventions of decanate priesthood as assemblies two times a year and they determined in detail the course, role and tasks of these decanal assemblies. By paying big attention to them in synod’s resolutions, they realized, how significant they role can be in revival of priesthood and increase of priesthood church discipline. Analyze of Wloclawek synod legislation allows to native in it certain continuity, when we are talking abut the contents of statutes dispositions. Bishop Stanislaw Kamkowski, a big protagonist of introduction of Trident reform into Wloclawek Church life, on his first synod in 1568 had initiated decanal congregations as meetings that gather priesthood, on which the dean was entitled to examine the decanate priesthood from education and existence and he had a duty to devolve necessary knowledge from theology and law. Merit of bishop Hieronim Rozrażewski was reactivation of decanal structures, revival and increase of the range of dean’s office as well as detailed determination of tasks and duties of deans, including those which are referring to congregations. On the base of legal norms of these two bishops, the following bishops: Pawel Wolucki and Andrzej Lipski had built legal regulations referring to dean’s office, structures and decanal congregations and also they had made more detailed. Bishop Maciej Lubieński, on synod in 1634, took care of decanal congregations to the highest extent. His directives included in synod’s resolutions can be called instruction for these meetings, however those directives were never called that way. In should be admitted that Trident reform within the range of revival and stimulation of decanal structures, amongst the others, thanks to reinforcement of dean’s office, determination of its duties and tasks and thanks to decanal congregations, found the appropriate understanding in synod legislation in Włocławek. It should be also supposed that in the second half of XVII century and later, after cessation of synod activity in Wloclawek diocese, dean’s office has been still developing and it played important role in priesthood and decanal congregations along with it.

Knowledge is the primary asset of today’s organisations; thus, knowledge management has been focused on discovery, representation, modification, transformation, and creation of knowledge within an enterprise. A knowledge map is a knowledge management tool that makes organisational processes more visible, feasible, and practicable. It is a graphical representation of decision-related information. What happens, how various events can be managed, and why they happened: all can be demonstrated very precisely by a well-designed knowledge map. There are diverse knowledge-related roles; for example, each university dean’s office — as an instance of a knowledge-based organisation — usually relies upon their institutional memory to make daily decisions. However, utilising a knowledge map greatly facilitates any individual’s or group’s decision-making process, by proposing or establishing key required information. In this study, two important managerial roles — Associate Deans of Research and Education — were selected; then we reviewed their key managerial decisions and proposed three different techniques for supporting their decisions. The chief superiority of the approach offered here was in the creation of role-based knowledge maps, including an expertness map and a collaboration map for the Associate Dean of Research, which were formed using clustering, taxonomy formation, and information retrieval methods. A third map was created for the Associate Dean of Education, including a Bayesian reasoning map based on an Improved PC (IPC) algorithm, which learned the structure and the parameters of a Bayesian network to describe decision-making in the domain of education. To evaluate the proposed approaches, structural and functional evaluation measures and standard datasets (in the available cases) were chosen. The results found that the approaches were comparable to the selected benchmarks within the real data; even after considering the challenging nature of the real data, which included problems such as incomplete and unclean data extracted from the University of Tehran’s education and research management information systems.

Case description Dean Adams was given notice to develop an online program with the School of Business Administration as a prototype of online education for the rest of the University. A major task which faced the Dean involved working with University information technology (IT) staff and faculty to choose a learning management system (LMS) to support the online program. After talking with the Chief Information Officer at Seacoast University and appointing a committee made up of IT staff and faculty, the Dean was presented with the committee's recommendation that focussed on two major decisions: first, choosing the LMS product for the University, and second, choosing to locate the LMS product and server either on-campus or off-campus. In the course of considering whether or not to accept the committee's recommendations, Dean Adams weighed the evaluations and justifications as outlined by the committee in the context of Seacoast University's IT situation.

Until relatively recently, the common law offence of misconduct in public office has been regarded as anachronistic. The offence was perceived to have been supplanted by specific statutory offences that could more appropriately deal with criminal conduct by public officials. However, there has been a revival of the offence with successful prosecutions occurring in Australia, England and Hong Kong. Many of these contemporary cases have involved police officers. Examination of these cases reveals that the circumstances in which misconduct in public office has been identified have been diverse, including the unauthorised disclosure of confidential information, the use of false search warrants and the sexual exploitation of vulnerable persons. In many instances, police officers were charged with other criminal offences in addition to charges relating to misconduct in public office. The matters prosecuted as misconduct in public office typically involved matters that were serious and/or could not be adequately prosecuted as other criminal offences or as breaches of police regulations governing conduct. Consequently, despite the proliferation of statutory criminal offences in the 20th century it appears that there continues to be a place for the offence of misconduct in public office. It criminalises misconduct by police officers that may not be adequately dealt with by other offences and recognises the public trust dimension of wrongdoing by these officials. However, a continuing and fundamental challenge is to determine the appropriate definition and scope of the offence.

The seminar on developing consumer involvement in primary dental care, held during the morning of 15th September 2008, was a collaboration between the Lay Advisory Group and Research Committee of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) (FGDP[UK]). As Professor Mike Mulcahy (immediate past Dean of the Faculty) remarked during his address of welcome, it marked a new and exciting development in the Faculty's role in setting and maintaining professional standards for the benefit of patients. It brought together nearly 50 representatives of national bodies, such as the National Audit Office, consumer groups, the Faculty's Lay Advisory Group and Research Committee, the media and others. Many of the national bodies represented at the seminar had published reports on primary dental care during the last five years.

Uneasily situated between counterculture images projected by James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause (1955) and the dawning of the “Age of Aquarius” a decade later, there emerged a motion picture interlude of innocence on the beaches of Southern California. It was fostered by Gidget (1959) and then thirty “surf and sex” movies that focused on young, attractive bodies and beach escapades rather than serious social causes.The films, argues Kirse May, “created an ideal teenage existence, marked by consumption, leisure, and little else.” Stephen Tropiano explains how their popularity helped shape “the archetypal image of the American teenager” and, reinforced by the surfin' sounds of Jan and Dean, the Beach Boys, and other recording groups, “turned America's attention to the Southern California coastline,” where “those who never set foot on its sandy shores were led to believe that life on the West Coast was a twenty-four-hour beach party.” This study examines a notable film of this genre to determine how musclemen were exploited to exhibit this playful spirit and how their negative reception reinforced an existing disregard toward physical culture. Muscle Beach Party illustrates how physical culture served other agendas, namely the need to address American fears of juvenile delinquency and to revive sagging box-office receipts within the guise of the “good life” of California.
