The study address minimizing energy consumption in buildings that operate on the demand side of electricity systems in Australia. This interest in demand-side measures extends to the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning system in buildings as such system represent 50-60% total energy consumption in an average building in Australia. Currently, building thermal performance classified into three classes based on dead-band temperature range in European and ISO standards. As per literature review there is no significant difference in thermal comfort satisfaction percentages in actual buildings operating within these three temperature performance classes. The study quantified possible energy savings for extreme thermal comfort ranges in ISO & European standards for an HVAC system of a typical medium-sized office building in Australia. The energy savings quantified using a standard simulation software package. The simulation exercise used a prototype building which represents a medium-size office building in Australia. Three cities selected for the simulation Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane representing different climate zones in Australia. The studies revealed energy savings in all the three cities with higher percentage savings for heating than cooling. The study revealed peak demand energy savings when temperature dead band changed from 2k to 4k and from 4k to 6k in all the three cities under steady state conditions. Greenhouse gas emissions increase with energy demand creating climate change issues. Findings indicate C02 savings percentages for Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney when temperature dead band settings changed from 2k (Class A) to 4 k (Class B). The effectiveness of the above strategies needs to be tested in real commercial buildings in large scale to address the issue of minimizing energy consumption in commercial buildings in Australia.

Arbetsmarknaden och arbetsmiljön har genomgått stora förändringar. Förändringarna har möjliggjorts genom den tekniska utvecklingen och digitaliseringen i samhället.Arbetsmarknaden har blivit rörligare än någonsin och det har ställt krav på ökad flexibilitet inom många branscher. Kontorsmarknaden är inget undantag och nya flexibla lösningar har visat sig vara av stort intresse. Coworking är en lösning som haft en stark tillväxt i Stockholm sedan det introducerades på marknaden. Utbudet av coworking-aktörer blir allt större och den senaste tiden har även fastighetsbolag visat intresse för att driva egna coworking-koncept i egen regi. Studien syftar till att undersöka vilka konkurrensfördelar som fastighetsägare har gentemot coworking-aktörer och varför vissa fastighetsägare väljer att starta och driva egna koncept.Studien har sin grund i Porters teori om konkurrens och frågeställningen är framtagen med utgångspunkt i hans teori. Intervjuer med fastighetsägare och befintliga coworking-aktörer har gjorts för att få en inblick i hur de ser på marknaden och vilka utmaningar som finns. Koncentrerat går det att säga att fastighetsägarnas största fördel är att de äger den underliggande tillgången. De kan skriva hyreskontrakt med sig själva och nyckelmärka lukrativa ytor för deras coworking-koncept. I den enklaste formen av coworking finns det förutsättningar för att konkurrera, då fastighetsbolag kan erbjuda en annan prisbild än coworking-aktörer. Utmaningarna blir att profilera konceptet för att passa målgrupper som redan är kunder hos befintliga coworking-aktörer med olika typer av premiumtjänster. Det ställs andra krav när det kommer till att väva in en serviceverksamhet i fastighetsbolagens ursprungliga kärnverksamhet och därtill tillkommer en rad utmaningar.
The working place and working environment has changed. Technical development and digitalisation have enabled these changes throughout society. The labour market has become more mobile than ever and that has increased the demand for flexibility in many industries.The office market is no exception and new flexible solutions have been of great interest. Coworking is a solution with high growth in Stockholm, since it was introduced on the market. The range of different coworking companies have grown and lately, real estate companies have shown interest in starting and running their own coworking concepts. The study aims to examine which competitive advantages real estate companies have towards coworking companies and why some real estate owners choose to start and run their own concepts. The study is founded upon Porter's theory of competition and the main questions are developed and based on the theory. Interviews with real estate companies and coworking companies have been conducted to gain insight how they view the market and existing challenges. In its entirety, it can be said that real estate companies main competitive advantages are that they own the underlying asset and can create leasing contracts with themselves and they can assign lucrative spaces for their own concepts. In the simplest form of coworking, there are conditions for competition, as real estate companies can offer different prices than coworking companies. The challenges will be to profile the concepts to suit groups who already are customers of coworking companies with different types of premium services. A number of other challenges arise when weaving in a service business with the original core business.

Det råder delade meningar om konsekvenserna av att arbeta i öppna

kontorslandskap. Kommunikation och en bra laganda anses vara ett

grundläggande element i framgångsrika organisationer. Då användandet av

öppna kontorslandskap ökat finns ett behov av forskning inom området.

Syftet är att utifrån ett arbetspsykologiskt perspektiv undersöka

medarbetarnas upplevelse av kontorslandskap med fokus på den verbala

kommunikationen och lagandan mellan medarbetarna, detta genom åtta

deltagare i Downs & Hazens (1977) Communication Satisfaction

Questionnaire samt semistrukturerade intervjuer. Respondenterna upplever

en öppen och positiv verbal kommunikation dock upplevs den även som ett

störningsmoment. Lagandan upplevs som stark och främjande av den

individuella och organisatoriska prestationen. Arbetssituationen skulle

förbättras om privata utrymmen upprättas samt regler och rutiner gällande

agerande i kontorslandskap införs.

The purpose of this study was to examine the attributions and responses that managers make to poor performance using the construct of enabling from the field of substance abuse. Approximately 200 government and 55 non-government managers responded to a three-part questionnaire exploring managersâ enabling behaviors, attribution of the causes of poor performance for a current or previous poor performer, and demographics of the managers and their selected poor performing subordinate. The research data showed that there was no appreciable relationship between the managersâ demographics and the managersâ enabling or non-enabling behaviors toward the poor performer. The data also indicated that managers attribute poor performance to internal attributions instead of external attributions. Furthermore, there was no evidence from the data that attribution played a part in which enabling or non-enabling behavior the managers exhibited toward the poor performer. Analysis of the data showed that managers chose the enabling behavior of micromanaging the poor performer by providing close, daily support; eliminating the employeeâ s responsibilities by extending the deadline; and transferring the problem by transferring the employee to another office. Additionally, some managers indicated that they would reward the poor performance by doing things such as giving ratings commensurate with the norm of the office, before avoiding the poor performance by reducing the requirements of the task. Managers also chose non-enabling behaviors. When combined with enabling behaviors, non-enabling behaviors were the second choice, after micromanaging and before eliminating the employeesâ responsibilities. The top three non-enabling behaviors used by the managers were giving an oral warning, consulting with management, and giving a written warning. The research not only showed that managers exhibited enabling and non-enabling behaviors towards poor performing employees, it clearly indicated that a continuum of enabling behavior exists. At one end of the continuum are non-enabling behaviors in which managers require poor performers to accept the consequences for their poor performance. At the opposite end of the continuum are behaviors in which managers do not attempt to do anything about either the performance issue or the poor performer.

This study examines the illustrations that appear at the Office of the Dead in English Books of Hours, and seeks to understand how text and image work together in this thriving culture of commemoration to say something about how the English understood and thought about death in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The Office of the Dead would have been one of the most familiar liturgical rituals in the medieval period, and was recited almost without ceasing at family funerals, gild commemorations, yearly minds, and chantry chapel services. The Placebo and Dirige were texts that many people knew through this constant exposure, and would have been more widely known than other 'death' texts such as the Ars Moriendi. The images that are found in these books reflect wider trends in the piety and devotional practice of the time. The first half of the study discusses the images that appear in these horae, and the relationship between the text and image is explored. The funeral or vigil scene, as the most commonly occurring, is discussed with reference to contemporary funeral practices, and ways of reading a Book of Hours. Other iconographic themes that appear in the Office of the Dead, such as the Roman de Renart, the Pety Job, the Legend of the Three Living and the Three Dead, the story of Lazarus, and the life of Job, are also discussed. The second part of the thesis investigates the musical elaborations of the Office of the Dead as found in English prayer books. The Office of the Dead had a close relationship with music, which is demonstrated through an examination of the popularity of musical funerals and obits, as well as in the occurrence of musical notation for the Office in a book often used by the musically illiterate. The development of the Office of the Dead in conjunction with the development of the Books of Hours is also considered, and places the traditions and ideas that were part of the funeral process in medieval England in a larger historical context.

The aim of this study is to explore the correlation between contemporary political agenda and film themes, how and if the antagonists’ behavior is depicted in relation to whom the political opponent was at the time of the making of the film. The literature is concurrent: movies are used to spread norms and political messages. There are several examples; during the Cold War people and antagonist behavior could clearly be linked to the Soviet Union. During the Gulf War the antagonists was often depicted as Arabic terrorists, but after the war the villain character became unclear and was often represented by natural disasters, organized crime, corruption etc. Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Arabic terrorists once again became the new antagonists. The film selection is made out of the five most profitable movies (adjusted for inflation) that take place in our world that was produced during the Cold War, and five films that fill the same criteria that was produced after the Cold War. My goal was to see if I could see a correlation between the political agenda at the time of the making of the movie, how the antagonists are portrayed and what political themes were addressed. Unexpectedly, I found no such correlation in my film selection. However, I could see similarities in certain genres, such as action, thrillers and adventure movies, that support the theories in the literature.
Jag studerar huruvida man kan dra en parallell mellan den rådande politiska agendan och filmens politiska teman samt hur skurkgestaltningen ter sig i relation till vem den politiska motståndaren var då filmen gjordes. Litteraturen är tydlig kring att film används för att sprida normer och politiska budskap. Det finns flera exempel kring hur man under kalla kriget främst hade Sovjet eller personer och beteenden som tydligt kunde kopplas till Sovjet som skurkar. Efter kalla kriget, i samband med Gulfkriget, blev det under en tid araber för att därefter vara en mer oklar skurkroll (ofta naturkatastrofer, organiserad brottslighet, korruption, etc.). Efter terrorangreppen mot USA den 11:e september 2001 fick man återigen en tydlig motståndare och den arabiske terroristen blev den nya antagonisten. I min studie utgår jag från de fem filmer som drog in mest pengar (justerat för inflation), som utspelar sig i vår värld och som kom under kalla kriget, samt de fem filmer inom samma kategorier som kom därefter. Detta för att se om jag kan se en tydlig parallell mellan den rådande politiska agendan och hur skurkarna gestaltas samt vilka politiska teman som tas upp. Oväntat nog finner jag att ingen sådan tydlig koppling finns i de exemplen. Jag finner liknande paralleller inom vissa genres, såsom actionfilm, thrillers och äventyrsfilm, men ingen direkt koppling till filmen generellt kan göras.

Historicamente, o papel do Estado está sempre se alterando, contudo ele é sempre essencial. As mudanças necessárias recentes no papel do Estado relacionam-se a um conjunto de transformações do final do século XX, tanto no cenário político quanto econômico. A primeira questão que surge no debate sobre a revisão do papel do Estado é o tamanho de suas necessidades de financiamento para promover a estabilidade, o crescimento e o bem-estar. A arrecadação tributária constitui a principal fonte de recursos utilizados no financiamento de programas governamentais e, por meio delas, o governo custeia suas despesas, suas necessidades de investimento e implanta políticas públicas. No Brasil, a reforma do Estado de 1995 buscou criar novas instituições legais e organizacionais que visavam sua modernização e aumento de eficiência. Neste sentido, a Receita Federal do Brasil, instituição que tem como objetivo arrecadação fiscal, vem aumentado sua receita tributária para que o governo estruture e implemente políticas públicas e sociais. Assim, este trabalho busca verificar a eficiência na arrecadação dos recursos pelo governo federal como forma de promover o desenvolvimento e, conseqüente, bem-estar. Para avaliar a eficiência foi aplicada a técnica de Análise Envoltória de Dados. Os resultados indicam que apenas uma das dez regiões fiscais apresentou eficiência em todos os períodos, e outras duas apresentaram eficiência em pelo menos um período. Com relação à eficiência, o estudo revelou a formação de quatro clusters, em que são agrupadas as regiões fiscais. Os resultados sugerem a utilização da região fiscal eficiente como benchmark.
Historically, the role of the State is always changing, however it is always essential. The necessary changes in the recent role of the State are related to a number of changes to the end of the twentieth century, both the political scene as economic. The first question that arises in debate on the review of the role of the State is the size of your funding needs to promote stability, growth and welfare. The incoming tax is the main source of resources used in the financing of government programs and, through them, the government funds their expenses, their for investment and deploy public policies. In Brazil, the reform of the State in 1995 sought to create new organizational and legal institutions that aimed at its modernization and increased efficiency. In this way, the Federal Incoming Office of Brazil, an institution that aims to tax collection, has increased its incoming tax to the government structure and implement social and public policies. Therefore, this paper checks the efficiency in collection of resources by the federal government as a way of promoting development and, consequently, welfare. To assess the efficiency it was applied the Data Envelopment Analysis technique. The results indicate that only one of ten regions tax presented efficiency at all times, and two others had efficiency by at least one period. With respect to efficiency, the study revealed the formation of four clusters, which are grouped in the regions tax. The results suggest the use the efficient region tax as a benchmark.

Behovet av högkvalitativ information är något som finns i alla organisationer. Tack vare teknikutvecklingen kan information flöda allt fortare, och genom alltfler kanaler. Informationsmängden har idag blivit så pass omfattande att vi människor många gånger har svårt att hantera informationen på ett effektivt sätt, vilket i sin tur kan leda till upplevt informationsöverflöd. Denna studies syfte var att undersöka hur aspekter av informationsöverflöd upplevs i perspektiv av informationskvalitet och belysa dessa utifrån distans- och kontorsarbete.   Wang & Strong (1996) har tagit fram en modell för att mäta informationskvalitet. Informationskvalitet är ett komplext begrepp och kan enligt författarna (1996) brytas ner i fyra aspekter vilka är tillförlitlighet, relevant, tillgänglighet och representativ information. Deras modell över informationskvalitet har varit denna studies utgångspunkt för analys av resultatet.  Undersökningen genomfördes enligt en kvalitativ metod med en abduktiv ansats. Datainsamlingen gjordes genom fem stycken semi-strukturerade individuella telefonintervjuer. Studiens deltagande informanter arbetar alla både på distans och på kontor.     Studiens resultat visar att det främst är bristen på relevant information som bidrar till upplevt informationsöverflöd. Eppler & Mengis (2004) presenterar fem stycken orsaker till informationsöverflöd, vilka är information, IT, arbetsuppgift och tid, individ samt organisation. Resultatet visar att bristen på relevant information bidrar till alla dessa fem orsaker. Informationsöverflöd upplevs som något mer märkbar på kontor där även den fysiska muntliga kommunikationen kan bidra till för mycket information. Inför genomförandet av denna studie var det inte förväntat att distansarbete kan väljas för att minska informationsöverflöd. Resultatet visar dock att informanterna många gånger väljer distansarbete för att kunna koppla bort sig från digitala och fysiska informationskanaler. Detta upplevs särskilt effektivt då mer komplexa arbetsuppgifter ska utföras.    Slutsatser som kan dras från den genomförda studien är att öppna kontorslandskap kan bidra med mer irrelevant information som en följd av den fysiska muntliga kommunikationen. Även kan slutsatsen dras att informationskvalitet och informationsöverflöd är två nära relaterade begrepp, men att bristen på informationskvalitet är det som bidrar med informationsöverflöd. I de fall när informationen i sig inte uppfyller kvalitetsaspekterna kan detta bidra till att individer upplever informationsöverflöd.
The amount of information has increased as a result of the technological development and it has become common to perceive information overload. This area is researched in office environments, however, we found no research in telecommuting. Low quality of information has been found through previous research as being one of the main reasons why we are experiencing information overload. In previous research, students were able to conclude that there was no research on the office and telecommuting experienced information overload. This study's problem is based on a scientific problem, were the students intended to examine how work in offices are perceived compared to teleworking in aspects of information quality and information overload. To illustrate the problem a qualitative method was selected. The study is based on semi-structured telephone interviews with five participating informants. This study's found that office environments contributed with more irrelevant information because of verbal communication. The students also came to the conclusion that the concepts of information quality and information overload are related to each other, but information quality is the overlying concept. Lack of information quality contributes to experienced information overload.

Detta examensarbete är en studie om hur en projektstudio kan utformas så att den kommunicerar och stödjer dess syfte, samt stödjer de arbetsuppgifter som genomförs. Arbetet har genomförts i samarbete med NCC AB i Solna. NCC arbetar mycket i projekt och dagens lokaler stödjer inte arbete i projekt så bra som de önskar, de är i behov av fler projektstudios. NCC har som mål att börja arbeta mer aktivitetsbaserat i och med att miljöerna stödjer deras arbetssätt. En projektstudio ska fungera för olika typer av arbetsuppgifter så som individuellt arbete, arbete i grupp och större möten. Projektstudion är en plats för både möte och projektarbete. I dagsläget är den planerade ytan för projektstudion ett öppet kontorslandskap. Studien baseras på litteratur om zonindelning, rummets påverkan, grupparbete och arbetssätt, psykologiskt perspektiv samt Leesmanundersökning på NCC. I studien har följande metoder genomförts: platsanalys, analys av Leesmanundersökning på NCC, kvalitativ intervju och workshop. Studien resulterar i att ett gestaltningsförslag skapas, i detta fall en projektstudio. Ytan för projektstudion har gått från att vara ett öppet kontorslandskap till att vara en miljö som stödjer olika typer av arbetsuppgifter.
This thesis is about how a Project Studio can be designed so it communicates and support its purpose, and also support the assignments to be performed in the Studio. The study has been made in cooperation with NCC AB in Solna, Sweden. NCC often work in projects but their premises today does not support project working as well as they would wish it to, NCC is therefor in need of more Project Studios. NCC:s goal is to be able to work in a more Activity Based manner as a result of the environment better supporting this way of working. A Project Studio should function for different types of job assignments such as individual work, work in groups and bigger meetings. The Project Studio is a place for both meetings and working in projects. The intended space is currently an openplan. The study has a base founded on literature primarily relating to: zoning; the influence of space; teamwork and manner of working; a psychological perspective; and a Leesman review conducted at NCC. In the study the following methods have been performed: space analysis; analysis of the Leesman review at NCC; qualitative interviews and a workshop. The study results in a design proposal for a Project Studio. The space for the Project Studio would be transformed from an open-plan to an environment that more fully supports the different types of job assignments required at NCC.

Den fysiska arbetsmiljön är viktig för hälsan. Den kontorstypen vi arbetar i har en betydande påverkan på individen. Vi vet idag att buller, speciellt över en längre tid bidrar till negativa hälsoeffekter. Trots det utformar vi kontor med öppnare landskap där arbetstagare inte kan kontrollera bakgrundsljudet. Den här studien genomförs i en kontrollerad miljö med syfte att synliggöra hur det kan vara att arbeta i ett öppet kontorslandskap och i ett vanligt kontor. Studien mäter både upplevd och observerad arbetsbelastning, samt hur dessa skiljer sig åt i en tyst miljö och en miljö med bakgrundsljud. I experimentet använde vi oss av eye-tracking utrustning för att mäta pupillutvidgning, vilket kan ha ett samband med ökad mental arbetsbelastning. GSR-utrustning användes för att mäta känslosvall och deltagarnas upplevda arbetsbelastning mättes med hjälp av en NASA-TLX enkät. Resultatet visar att miljön med bakgrundsljud upplevdes störande under hela testet. Skillnader i pupillstorleken visade på en ökad mental arbetsbelastning när det fanns ljud i bakgrunden, men bara på de tester som innehöll en läsuppgift. Om arbetsbelastningen blir för hög, kan det enligt tidigare forskning, leda till en negativ påverkan på en persons hälsa.
The physical work environment is important for your health. The type of office we work in have a significant impact on the individual. We know today that noise, especially over a longer period of time contribute to negative health effects. Despite this we continue designing offices with open landscape where workers cannot control the background noise. This study is conducted in a controlled environment with the intention to get a view how it might be to work in an open landscape office and in a regular office. The study measure both perceived and observed mental load, and how these differ in a quiet environment and an environment with background noise. In the experiment we used eye-tracking equipment to measure pupil dilation, which may be associated with increased mental load. GSR-equipment was used to measure emotional arousal and participants perceived workload was measured using a NASA-TLX questionnaire. The result shows that the environment with background noise was experienced as disturbing throughout the test. Differences in pupil dilation showed an increased mental workload when there was sound in the background, but only on the tests that contained a reading task. If the workload becomes too high, it can, according to previous research, lead to a negative impact on a person’s health.

Recently more and more attention has been paid to copyright protection in Lithuania. As a result, quite a number of governmental institutions have faced a problem. Most of them use unlicensed software. The alternative way to legalize software is to use free of charge (open-coded) software. That is why the Lithuanian Ministry of Education encourages educational institutions to use stable open-coded localized programmes; Open Office Pack falls into this category. At the moment Microsoft Office Pack dominates the software market. Open Office is a direct competitor of Microsoft Office, because it is free of charge. In the course if writing this paper, we got acquainted with different office programme packs. The potential and compatibility of Microsoft Office and Open Office packs with each other as well as with various operating systems have been described. Also, some experimental research has been carried out. We aimed to find out the differences of acquiring theoretical knowledge and practical skills while working with each of the packs. 9 and 10th formers participated in the experimental research. They were introduced to the basics of working with the Microsoft Office Word, Open Office Writer, Open Office Calc and Microsoft Office Excel programmes. In the course of the experiment, the level of pupils’ theoretical knowledge before and after the teaching and practice stages was measured. Also, their acquired practical skills were assessed. During half a century the society has been changed from an industrial to knowledge-driven society. Industry companies have standardized requirements and companies that works with development in production has unique qualifications. The public employment office was created during a time that each tailored to then general requirements were dominating and the adaptation average appropriate worker and appropriate work where general. When the monopoly was stopped, crew companies begun to settle down on the market that flexibly adapt themselves to carried out now specialized needs that require sophisticated adaptation average work and job seekers. Companies lose the confidence for the public employment office and politicians threaten the organization with big closure. If the public employment office can continue to exist the adaptation of the average appropriate work and appropriate job seeker must function better. This led to the essay's aim: Which differences are between the public employment office and the private employment offices with respect to change ability?

In order to reply to the aim deductive run-up and qualitative survey method with semi structured interviews on a public employment office and private employment office were used. A higher manager and two section managers were interviewed on the public employment office and a manager on Adecco with snowball selection stem to get higher results that otherwise could not have been possible.

The result showed that the public employment office is devoting too much time to administrative information and meetings that instead would give results through communicating with carried out. But the personnel is motivated and becomes encouraged to giving new proposals, but that the legislation does not permit all changes. The crew company Adecco is a profit driven company that aims itself on profitable trade groups and does not have an extensive legislation what do that changes easy can come to levels. A lot of resources are imposed carried out and the adaptation goes good.

The conclusion is drawn that the public employment office can deliver a customer value to carry out. In order to that all companies will experience a value the public employment office also needs to concentrate against companies that require university graduates.


Under ett halvt sekel har samhället förändrats från industrisamhälle till kunskapssamhälle. Industriföretag har standardiserade krav och företag som sysslar med produktionsutveckling har unika kvalifikationer. Den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen skapades under en tid som var anpassad till då generella krav var dominerande och anpassningen mellan lämplig arbetare och lämpligt arbete var generell. När monopolet avvecklades började bemanningsföretag etablera sig på marknaden som flexibelt anpassar sig till företagens numera specialiserade behov som kräver förfinad anpassning mellan arbete och arbetssökande. Företag mister förtroendet för den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen och politiker hotar organisationen med stora nedläggningar. För att den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen skall kunna fortsätta existera måste anpassningen mellan lämpligt arbete och lämplig arbetssökande fungera bättre. Allt detta ledde fram till uppsatsens syfte: Vilka skillnader finns mellan den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen och de privata arbetsförmedlingarna med avseende på förändringsförmåga?

För att svara på syftet användes deduktiv ansats och kvalitativ undersökningsmetod med semistrukturerade intervjuer på en offentlig arbetsförmedling respektive privat arbetsförmedling. En högre chef och två mellanchefer intervjuades på den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen samt en chef på Adecco med snöbollsurval för att få fram högre resultat som annars inte hade varit möjligt.

Resultatet gav att inom den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen ägnas allt för mycket åt administrativa uppgifter och möten som istället skulle ge resultat genom att kommunicera med företagen. Men personalen är motiverad och blir uppmuntrade till att ge nya förslag, men att regelverket inte tillåter alla förändringar. Bemanningsföretaget Adecco är ett vinstdrivande företag som inriktar sig på lönsamma yrkesgrupper och har inte ett omfattande regelverk vilket gör att förändringar lätt kan komma till stånd. Mycket resurser läggs på företagen och anpassningen går bra.

Slutsatsen dras att den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen kan leverera ett kundvärde till företagen. För att alla företag skall uppleva ett värde behöver den offentliga arbetsförmedlingen även inrikta sig mot företag som kräver akademiker.

En Chile, alrededor del 16% de los empleados tiene un horario de trabajo muy largo, cifra mayor que el promedio de la OCDE de 9%. Estas cifras no solo provocan problemáticas tales como vida sedentaria y obesidad sino que también de estrés. Paralelamente, cifras registradas por encuesta realizada por Adimark en 2013, muestran que uno de cada tres chilenos se siente muy estresado. Además expone que la mayoría de personas tiene menos tiempo durante la semana y el fin de semana y trata de desestresarse con actividades indoor: la TV (28%), escuchando música (25%) y durmiendo (23%). Sólo el 18% hace deporte o se junta con amigos.1 Concluyendo que las actividades a las que se recurre para relajarse son individualistas, existiendo conocimiento documentado de que el apoyo social amortigua los efectos de estrés y genera mayores niveles de satisfacción. Dado lo anterior, el objetivo de este negocio consistirá en redefinir el espacio del almuerzo de los trabajadores, entregándoles una plataforma nueva y diferente de entretenimiento. Office Break, una discoteca diurna, ofrece una nueva experiencia para liberar estrés, sociabilizar, hacer networking y ejercicio físico en un ambiente sano de música y baile que rompe completamente con la rutina de la semana laboral. La oferta de Office Break es generar un impacto positivo en la productividad, creatividad y calidad de vida de los trabajadores chilenos. Se considera que el éxito de este negocio estará enfocado en ser un nuevo actor social que promueva y premie a las empresas que sean responsables con el bienestar de sus empleados. Office automation systems have become an essential tool for the operation of the modern office. With the emphasis of a modern office being placed on efficiency and ease of communication, office automation systems have become the backbone of successful businesses. COSNET is a prototype office automation system designed and implemented at the Department of the University of Cape Town and runs on Personal Computers that are linked to a NCR UNIX TOWER, which acts as the host. This dissertation investigates the different facilities supported by some of the office automation systems compared in this thesis, and describes the COSNET features. This prototype office automation system supports many of the facilities that are supported by large office automation systems. COSNET allows the user to define any MS-DOS based editor or word processor, and uses a simple editor for the creation of mail. The electronic filing facility allows documents to be created, filed, retrieved and deleted, and thus provides the users with the necessary features for document exchange. A user may set access permissions to each of his documents and may grant other users either read or write access to a specific document. The mail facility lets the user read, file, forward, delete and print a message, and supports classification of mail. A calendar facility is used as an electronic diary and stores all the user's schedules. These schedules may be viewed in either daily, weekly and monthly display modes. Read and write access to the calendar can be set by the user, in order to allow other users to manipulate his schedules. Any MS-DOS based application software can be added to COSNET. This facility allows the COSNET user to configure the office automation system to simulate the office environment. COSNET thus supports most of the necessary features required by an office automation system.

The Oval Office is the most iconic room in the White House and one of the most recognizable interiors in the United States. I have recreated the Oval Office as a three-dimensional, interactive environment for the purpose of studying 3D modeling, texturing, and environment creation. My recreation of the Oval Office contains more than 30 unique models which use over 100 high-quality texture maps. My goal was to study the creation of both organic and hard surface models as well as learning which workflows were best suited to each object within a scene. I also wanted to study how different textures might be created and what workflows resulted in the most efficient and effective results, especially when creating Normal maps. The final project is designed for the Unreal 3 Engine, and still image renders were created with the Mental Ray renderer from within Autodesk Maya. The software I used to complete this project included Autodesk Maya, Autodesk Mudbox, Adobe Photoshop, Quixel’s nDO2, XNormal, and the Unreal Development Kit 3 (UDK) by Epic Games.

En los últimos años hemos podido identificar que en nuestro país ha ido creciendo económicamente en varios sectores, esto conlleva al desarrollo y el crecimiento del poder adquisitivo de los consumidores, es en este punto que nuestro equipo decide optar por un modelo de negocio atractivo que no solo nos genere rentabilidad como empresa sino que también de solución a una problemática que enfrentan todas muchos de los colaboradores de las empresas, la mala administración del tiempo. Hemos identificado que en muchas empresas del sector en el que nos enfocamos (MYPES), los colaboradores realizan un conglomerado de funciones tanto operativas como estratégicas en pro a cumplir los objetivos de las empresas. Este es el punto de inicio que estimuló la creación de nuestra idea de negocio, Office Box es una propuesta de negocio que se encarga de la comercialización y distribución de productos de oficina y de limpieza para las empresas, toda esta operación se realiza mediante una plataforma web que te permite con unos cuantos clicks elegir entre una gran gama de productos, cotizar tu pedido y efectuar el pago en unos pocos pasos. Así mismo, los clientes pueden realizar sus compras las 24 horas del día, los 365 días del año y recibir su pedido en las 48 horas siguientes. Para este proyecto hemos tomado en cuenta las preferencias de los usuarios y el fuerte incremento del e-commerce en nuestro país, que seguirá creciendo en los próximos años debido a que los usuarios cada vez optan con mayor frecuencia efectuar sus compras de manera online, por lo que las empresas deben adaptarse a los cambios tecnológicos que cada vez son más relevantes ya que el uso de herramientas digitales y la eficiencia en el servicio ofrecido son los factores que marcaran la diferencia para las empresas que desean mantenerse en el mercado.

Olika kontorstrender kommer och går och den flexibla arbetsplatsen har blivit allt vanligare i samhället. Idén om att varje individ själv ska ha möjlighet att välja sin arbetsplats efter olika arbetsuppgifter är grundtanken i det aktivitetsbaserade arbetssättet, en kontrast till de klassiska cellkontoren. Konceptet aktivitetsbaserade flexkontor bygger på att arbetsmiljön utformas i olika zoner efter verksamhetens olika aktiviteter, men tidigare forskning visar på att kontorsformen inte alltid används som den är tänkt eller att arbetsmiljön inte stödjer de behov som finns hos medarbetarna. Den här studien handlar om att undersöka de lugna zonerna i ett aktivitetsbaserat flexkontor. Studien är i samarbete med Försäkringskassans huvudkontor i Stockholm som sedan 2016 arbetat aktivitetsbaserat, men där de anställda idag ofta väljer att sitta på samma plats varje dag. Det har resulterarat i att lugna zonerna idag inte används i någon större utsträckning. Syftet med studien är att undersöka vilka rumsliga behov som användare av ett aktivitetsbaserat flexkontor har i en lugn zon och hur en lugn zon kan kommunicerar dess användande och funktioner.  Intervjuer, frågeformulär och rumsanalys har tillämpats för att få en djupare förståelse om problematiken och för att besvara frågeställningarna för denna studie. Tillsammans litteraturstudier om visuell retorik, visuella element i rummet, zonindelning samt deltagande och inkluderande design så presenteras ett gestaltningsförslag på hur ett rums funktioner kan kommuniceras genom visuella element som form, färg och material och en utformning av en lugn zon som stödjer användares behov.

A história ambiental no Brasil é nova e diversifica. Carece, ainda, de pesquisas pormenorizadas, que dêem atenção ao específico, que particularizem as contribuições de cada autor para o estabelecimento do campo. Enfrentou-se, neste trabalho, o desafio de lançar luz sobre a trajetória e a obra de história ambiental de Warren Dean (1932-1994), a partir de um exame crítico de material bibliográfico diverso e fontes orais. Ao incorporar as variáveis ambientais em seus estudos, buscando compreender as relações históricas entre a sociedade brasileira e o meio ambiente, esse brasilianista norte-americano produziu trabalhos inovadores sobre a produção de borracha na Amazônia e o desflorestamento da Mata Atlântica, muito mencionados, porém pouco estudados. Ofereceu uma interpretação do passado, refletindo sobre os problemas colocados pelo presente, com base nos temas do “desenvolvimento econômico” e da “degradação ambiental”. No plano analítico, empregou a “fórmula” from the origins to the present, denotando certo sentido “pragmático” e “presentista”. O rigor objetivista dá lugar a uma intencionalidade, a uma vontade de transformação da realidade. A história ambiental assume um caráter utilitário, de servir para atenuar o impacto na sociedade no futuro. Em termos de escala, o internacionalismo propiciado pela questão ecológica forçou um deslocando no eixo focal de Warren Dean, do domínio do regional/nacional para o internacional/global. Implícita, neste deslocamento, está a defesa de uma ética ecológicoglobal, apontando-se na direção de uma cooperação internacional, no contexto de Guerra-Fria e de tendências nacionalistas. Environmental history is new in Brazil and diversifies. In this field, it is still missing detailed research that brings particular attention to the specific, to the contributions of each author to the establishment of the field. In this work, we emphasized Warren Dean’s life journey (1932- 1994) and mainly his work on environmental history, performing a critical examination of bibliographic material and diverse oral sources. By incorporating environmental variables in his studies, seeking to understand the historical relations between Brazilian society and the environment, this American Brazilianist produced innovative work on rubber production in the Amazon and on deforestation of the Atlantic Forest, both subjects much mentioned but little studied. Offered an interpretation of the past, reflecting problems brought by it, based on themes as economic development and environmental degradation. At the analytical level, he used the formula from the origins to the present, showing a pragmatic and present sense. The objective rigor opens to an intention, a desire of changing reality. Environmental history assumes a utility trace, serving to mitigate the impact on society in the future. In terms of scale, international character provided by ecological issues forced a modification on the focal analysis of Warren Dean, from the regional / national to the international / global field. The defense of a global ecological ethic is implicit in this alteration, indicating to an international cooperation in the context of the Cold War and to nationalist tendencies. In the methodological framework, Warren Dean’s environmental history was characterized primarily by the broad dialogue with the natural sciences, agricultural and geography, and by the field work, based on observations and interviews. An integral part of neuropsychological assessment is the measurement of sensory-motor performance. Many studies have been conducted on the effectiveness of neuropsychological batteries to assess neurological impairment, however examination of only the sensory-motor portion of those measures has been limited. Investigations of tests of sensory and motor functions have often limited their analysis to single tests. The present study assessed the ability of the Dean-Woodcock Sensory Motor Battery (DWSMB), part of a new neuropsychological measure, the Dean-Woodcock Neuropsychological Battery (DWNB), to distinguish between normal subjects and neurologically impaired individuals as diagnosed by a neurologist. Scores from the subtests of the DWSMB from an existing data set for 250 normal and 250 neurologically impaired individuals were randomly assigned to two equal groups to allow for cross validation. Results indicated that the DWSMB was able to correctly identify 92.8% of the cases, identifying 94.4% of the normal population and 91.2% of the neurologically impaired subjects. An additional discriminant analysis was conducted to establish the accuracy of the DWSMB to identify individual diagnoses within neurologically impaired and normal subjects. The DWSMB correctly identified the following cases: 44.9% cardio-vascular accidents, 66.7% multiple sclerosis, 40% seizures, 42% traumatic brain injuries, 62.7% dementia, and 54.5% Parkinson's disease. Results indicated the usefulness of the DWSMB in identifying neurological damage and specific diagnoses in a relatively quick assessment. The utility of the DWSMB and the use of standardized administration procedures, behavioral information for evaluation, and measures of subcortical functions was discussed in light of future research. The potential use of the DWSMB in clinical and educational settings was also considered.

This study examined the utility of the Dean-Woodcock Emotional Status Examination (D-WESE). As part of the Dean-Woodcock Neuropsvchology Battery, the D-WESE is a 50-item measure of emotional functioning. Its ability to predict pathology as compared to the MMPI Clinical Scales was investigated. The D-WESE gains information about a wide range of symptoms within a short period of time.An existing data set was utilized in this study. It included 207 patients referred for psychological and neuropsychological evaluation from a large outpatient Midwestern neurology practice. The age ranged between 13 and 96 years (M = 56.53).The results of an exploratory factor analysis with oblique rotation revealed an 11factor solution consisting of eigenvalues greater than 1.00. The D-WESE factors were significantly correlated with the MMPI Clinical Scales and a poor to good percent (1670%) of the variance could be accounted for through Stepwise Multiple Regressions. The results were discussed in terms of their relationship with established MMPI codetypes. Overall, the D-WESE was found to have a moderate degree of overlap and predictive validity as compared to the MMPI.

L'instabilite centrifuge de taylor-dean apparait dans l'ecoulement d'un fluide newtonien entre deux cylindres coaxiaux en rotation et en position horizontale avec un gradient longitudinal de pression. Le systeme de taylor-dean est caracterise par un espace a deux parametres de controle: le nombre de taylor et le taux de rotation des cylindres. L'application du critere de stabilite de rayleigh montre que l'espace annulaire entre les deux cylindres peut contenir deux zones instables dans lesquelles les instabilites de taylor-couette et de dean peuvent se developper. La theorie de stabilite lineaire donne des courbes de stabilite marginale dont la topologie depend du taux de rotation des cylindres. Au seuil de l'instabilite, les etats peuvent apparaitre sous forme de modes stationnaires ou oscillants selon la valeur du taux de rotation. Le calcul de l'equation d'amplitude pour les modes stationnaires montre qu'il existe un point tricritique au voisinage duquel la constante de landau change de signe. L'etude experimentale a abouti a un diagramme d'etats comportant 5 branches distinctes: 3 branches des rouleaux stationnaires axisymetriques et deux branches de rouleaux propagatifs inclines. Les rouleaux propagatifs inclines se destabilisent par une modulation spatio-temporelle de courte longueur d'onde et de frequence tres inferieure a la fondamentale. Les rouleaux axisymetriques stationnaires deviennent oscillants et donnent lieu a des rouleaux propagatifs inclines ou a des etats mixtes. La transition vers le chaos s'effectue par la generation de defauts spatio-temporels et la reduction de la taille des domaines non chaotiques dans le diagramme spatio-temporel

This thesis considers steady, fully-developed flows through weakly curved pipes using the extended Stokes series method. The Stokes series for pipes of circular cross-section is expanded in powers of the Dean number, K, to 196 terms by computer. Analysis shows that the convergence is limited by an imaginary conjugate pair of square-root singularities K = ±iKc. Contrary to previous analysis of this solution, analytic continuation of the series indicates that the flux ratio in a weakly curved pipe does not vary asymptotically as K−1/10 for large K. Using generalised Padé approximants it is proposed that the singularity at iKc corresponds to a symmetry breaking bifurcation, at which three previously unreported complex branches are identified. The nature of the singularity is supported in part by numerical consideration of the governing equations for complex Dean number. It is postulated that there exists a complex solution to the governing equations for which the azimuthal velocity varies asymptotically as K−1/2, and the streamfunction as K0 near K = 0. This is supported by the results from the generalised Padé approximants. Brief consideration is given to pipes of elliptic cross-section. The Stokes series for pipes of elliptic cross-section for various aspect ratios, λ, is expanded up to the K24 term by computer. For small K, it is found that the flux ratio achieves a minimum for aspect ratio λ ≈ 1.75. This, and the behaviour of the total vorticity, is in agreement with previous studies which found that the effect of the curvature is reduced in the limit of small and large aspect ratios. The convergence of the series solution is found to be limited by an imaginary conjugate pair of square-root singularities K = ±iKc(λ), which varies with λ.

Resumo:

The aim of this project is to develop an auxiliary office chair, which favorably will compete with

the existing chairs on the market. Evolutions of ergonomical survey in the work environment and

on the configuration of offices require new products which fulfill the requirements properly.

In order to achieve it a survey about office chairs has been carried out: types, characteristics, ways

of usage and products on the market besides a large antropometrical study and ergonomics related

to work area study.

The result is an auxillary office chair which improves significatively in ergonomics compared with

such chairs found in the market survey.

Moreover it is achieved a great improvement refering to apilability stackable characteristics and

manufacturing, as this chair has good features as easily cleanning and innovative aesthetics and no

high manufacturing cost. That means an easily marketed product.

El presente trabajo de investigación propone la adaptación del modelo de negocio Family Office, recaudador de fondos de familiares/amigos que deseen invertir su dinero y obtener beneficio económico superior al costo de oportunidad. Asimismo, el objetivo es atender las necesidades de financiamiento de capital de trabajo para los microempresarios, personas naturales. La idea de negocio es colocar créditos a través de la empresa “PePe”, una forma de financiamiento ágil y de confianza; dirigida a microempresarios con poco acceso a fuentes de financiamiento, dispuestos a pagar intereses acorde a su necesidad e inmediatez de la transacción. En el análisis, evidenciamos que existe la oportunidad de generar negocios este segmento debido a su mentalidad emprendedora y a los volúmenes que constituyen este sector, que supera el millón de microempresarios en Lima. Asimismo, la experiencia y conocimiento de los socios en las áreas de Marketing, Recursos Humanos, Banca y Finanzas viabilizan una inversión a cinco años, sustentada en procesos ágiles aceptados por el cliente, gestión de talento humano de alto desempeño y una tasa interna de retorno superior al 50% con un VPN por encima de los 170 mil soles. Es por ello, creemos firmemente que el negocio será rentable considerando la desatención actual del nicho de mercado al que nos dirigimos, además del altísimo potencial y escalabilidad asociada al tamaño del mercado y a la tendencia digital, que crecen constantemente.
The present research project proposes the adaptation of the business model Family office, fundraiser of family / friends who wish to invest their money and obtain an economic benefit higher than the cost of the opportunity. Likewise, the objective is to meet the financing needs of working capital for micro entrepreneurs, natural persons. The business idea is a credit through the company "PePe", an agile and trustworthy form of financing; Directing micro entrepreneurs with little access to funding sources, to the interests of the transaction. In the analysis, we show that there is an opportunity to generate business in this segment due to its entrepreneurial mentality and the volumes that have become this sector, which exceeds one million micro entrepreneurs in Lima. Also, the experience and knowledge of the partners in the areas of Marketing, Human Resources, Banking and Finance through a five-year investment, based on the agile processes accepted by the client, the management of human talent and the rate of return. Greater than 50% with a VPN above 170 thousand soles. That is why we always believe that the business is profitable, the current market market disregard, the future potential and the scalability associated with the size of the market and the digital trend, which are constantly growing.
