Moreover office of deans, definite authorizations and obligations always have on in view help of the diocesan bishop in performance pastoral service in particular Church. The deans as representative of presbytery the Włocławek Church, in light discussion rules of Włocławek synodal legislation, had belong and belong to nearest and most trustworthy collaborators of the diocesan bishop and have very important part in structure of this Church. The synodal legislation of Włocławek made and make with dean assistant of the diocesan bishop, mediator between the diocesan bishop and the diocesan curia, and priest and faithful deanery in specified matter. In the beginning dean introduced synodal legislation and orders of the diocesan bishop in life denary and individual parishes, was guardian of faith, customs and discipline. After the Council of Trent this office took bigger meaning and not limit to function control and inspect work priest in deanery, but also administrative in design assistance of the diocesan bishop in control of the diocese. After the Council of Vatican II to duty of the dean join pastoral duty in deanery. On the person dean and his service in big degree depend realization of mission of the Church. The synodal legislation of Włocławek made for detail designation function and assignment of deans servant designs inspection and administration-pastoral of the Włocławek Church. In they light office and service dean had and has take for this, that under leadership of the dean all priest in deanery commit in priesthood realize priest and pastoral vocation, realize duty result with leadership of parish, take cooperation, with fruit will be animation religious and pastoral life in the particular Church, and also will be realize – peaceably with rules of cannon law – service pastoral, sanctify and teaching of faithful.

The history of the office of dean rural, like that of the office of the archdeacon, is shrouded in the mists of ancient Church history. It is however clear that since the rural dean, by whatever name he was called, stood in a relationship to the parochial clergy beyond the immediate episcopal environment, the history of the rural dean's office is directly related to the development of the parochial system. The development of this system is vastly different in the various corners of Christendom, and the appearance of the dean rural, or his equivalent, varies by nearly four centuries from place to place.

Walter Dean Burnham (1965, 1970) demonstrated that non-voting and various measures of aggregate electoral instability increased between 1900 and the late 1920s, declined somewhat during the New Deal and its aftermath, and increased thereafter. To Burnham, the behavior of these measures implied a similar evolution in the partisan strength of the electorate since individuals without strong partisan ties are characterized by lower levels of turnout and more inconsistent turnout and partisan choices, both over time for the same office and across different offices in the same year. In short, he argued that the entire twentieth century, save for the New Deal, was marked by an “onward march of party decomposition.”

The role of dean in a business school is, by design, more strategic than tactical. And, when the various stakeholders that a dean must interact with are considered, the ability of a dean to have much of an operating knowledge of what is going on in the teaching and learning space of a school is very limited. The problem, however, is that the dean must be an advocate for this critical function of the business school mission. To understand how these two dimensions might be reconciled, this article looks at the drivers of a dean’s perspective and the disengagement these drivers create. The article ends by suggesting ways for a dean to stay connected to this vital function of the school.

The paper describes and examines the factors that influence leadership effectiveness of deans and the concept of competence of deans using the evolution of deanship as a welfare system to a system of accountability in Ghana. The study explores what defines leadership competence in Higher Education in Ghana and how the process of becoming a dean can influence effective performance. Using a qualitative approach, data was collected from 38 respon Three public Universities in Ghana were used for the stu- dy. Data was collected from 38 respondents using interviews and survey methods. The respondents include a vice-chancellor, a pro-vice-chancellor, deans, and faculty members. The paper explores the respondents’ perception of a competent dean and identifies two categories of competence: technical competence and leadership competence. Generally, leadership competences are put ahead of technical competences for effective deans’ performace. Five core themes for leadership competences were identified and these include personal competences, visionary competences, administrative competences, people competences and networking competences. Also, three processes of becoming a dean have also emerged in Ghana. These are the elective, the selective and the appointive processes. The study finds that the effectiveness of deans is largely influenced by inadequate leadership competences and grooming, absence of clearly defined and well commu- nicated job descriptions as well as performance management practices that seek accountability of deans in Ghana. The study recommends the appointment of deans through standard recruitment practices, rather than election or selection. It also recommends leadership assessment and training for leadership competences before a dean takes office.

In this article, the author honours three former Deans of Law of The Australian National University: Jack Richardson, Harry Whitmore, and Michael Coper. His remarks are derived from three speeches he gave in 2012: the 2012 Harry Whitmore Memorial Lecture,1 the 2012 Jack Richardson Memorial Lecture,2 and an address to The Australian National University's 2012 Law Alumni Dinner on the occasion of the retirement from the Deanship of Michael Coper.3 Jack Richardson and Harry Whitmore were pioneers of Australian administrative law. Michael Coper, a constitutional lawyer whose views were shaped by his family's direct experience of Nazism, served as Dean for a record term of 15 years. The author reflects on the life stories of these three Law Deans, and derives some conclusions on the nature of the office of Dean of Law in a modern Australian University.4

Deans, in the organisation of the Church, are to assist the diocesan bishop in the exercise of governance in the territory that is part of the diocese. This area is called a deanery. In the history of the Church, deans have been seen as assistants to bishops. This article discusses the attributes of the office and deans’ obligations as set out in the 1928 Synod of Bishop Leon Wałęga. The First Synod of the Diocese of Tarnów was a transmission belt that made the provisions of the 1917 Code of Canon Law a reality in the Diocese of Tarnów. The particular legislator, Bishop Leon Wałęga, encouraged the clergy to surround deans with the reverence and trust due to them, considering them as elder brothers who, on behalf of the authorities, performed demanding duties for the common good. To date, no comprehensive study of this topic has appeared. As a starting point for the reflection on the office of dean, the etymology of the word is discussed, followed by a brief look at its archetypes: chorepiscopi, visitators and archdeacons.

The study address minimizing energy consumption in buildings that operate on the demand side of electricity systems in Australia. This interest in demand-side measures extends to the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning system in buildings as such system represent 50-60% total energy consumption in an average building in Australia. Currently, building thermal performance classified into three classes based on dead-band temperature range in European and ISO standards. As per literature review there is no significant difference in thermal comfort satisfaction percentages in actual buildings operating within these three temperature performance classes. The study quantified possible energy savings for extreme thermal comfort ranges in ISO & European standards for an HVAC system of a typical medium-sized office building in Australia. The energy savings quantified using a standard simulation software package. The simulation exercise used a prototype building which represents a medium-size office building in Australia. Three cities selected for the simulation Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane representing different climate zones in Australia. The studies revealed energy savings in all the three cities with higher percentage savings for heating than cooling. The study revealed peak demand energy savings when temperature dead band changed from 2k to 4k and from 4k to 6k in all the three cities under steady state conditions. Greenhouse gas emissions increase with energy demand creating climate change issues. Findings indicate C02 savings percentages for Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney when temperature dead band settings changed from 2k (Class A) to 4 k (Class B). The effectiveness of the above strategies needs to be tested in real commercial buildings in large scale to address the issue of minimizing energy consumption in commercial buildings in Australia.

Förändringarna har möjliggjorts genom den tekniska utvecklingen och digitaliseringen i samhället.Arbetsmarknaden har blivit rörligare än någonsin och det har ställt krav på ökad flexibilitet inom många branscher. Kontorsmarknaden är inget undantag och nya flexibla lösningar har visat sig vara av stort intresse. Coworking är en lösning som haft en stark tillväxt i Stockholm sedan det introducerades på marknaden. Utbudet av coworking-aktörer blir allt större och den senaste tiden har även fastighetsbolag visat intresse för att driva egna coworking-koncept i egen regi. Studien syftar till att undersöka vilka konkurrensfördelar som fastighetsägare har gentemot coworking-aktörer och varför vissa fastighetsägare väljer att starta och driva egna koncept.Studien har sin grund i Porters teori om konkurrens och frågeställningen är framtagen med utgångspunkt i hans teori. Intervjuer med fastighetsägare och befintliga coworking-aktörer har gjorts för att få en inblick i hur de ser på marknaden och vilka utmaningar som finns. Koncentrerat går det att säga att fastighetsägarnas största fördel är att de äger den underliggande tillgången. De kan skriva hyreskontrakt med sig själva och nyckelmärka lukrativa ytor för deras coworking-koncept. I den enklaste formen av coworking finns det förutsättningar för att konkurrera, då fastighetsbolag kan erbjuda en annan prisbild än coworking-aktörer. Utmaningarna blir att profilera konceptet för att passa målgrupper som redan är kunder hos befintliga coworking-aktörer med olika typer av premiumtjänster. Det ställs andra krav när det kommer till att väva in en serviceverksamhet i fastighetsbolagens ursprungliga kärnverksamhet och därtill tillkommer en rad utmaningar.
The working place and working environment has changed. Technical development and digitalisation have enabled these changes throughout society. The labour market has become more mobile than ever and that has increased the demand for flexibility in many industries.The office market is no exception and new flexible solutions have been of great interest. Coworking is a solution with high growth in Stockholm, since it was introduced on the market. The range of different coworking companies have grown and lately, real estate companies have shown interest in starting and running their own coworking concepts. The study aims to examine which competitive advantages real estate companies have towards coworking companies and why some real estate owners choose to start and run their own concepts. The study is founded upon Porter's theory of competition and the main questions are developed and based on the theory. Interviews with real estate companies and coworking companies have been conducted to gain insight how they view the market and existing challenges. In its entirety, it can be said that real estate companies main competitive advantages are that they own the underlying asset and can create leasing contracts with themselves and they can assign lucrative spaces for their own concepts. In the simplest form of coworking, there are conditions for competition, as real estate companies can offer different prices than coworking companies. The challenges will be to profile the concepts to suit groups who already are customers of coworking companies with different types of premium services. A number of other challenges arise when weaving in a service business with the original core business.

Det råder delade meningar om konsekvenserna av att arbeta i öppna

kontorslandskap. Kommunikation och en bra laganda anses vara ett

grundläggande element i framgångsrika organisationer. Då användandet av

öppna kontorslandskap ökat finns ett behov av forskning inom området.

Syftet är att utifrån ett arbetspsykologiskt perspektiv undersöka

medarbetarnas upplevelse av kontorslandskap med fokus på den verbala

kommunikationen och lagandan mellan medarbetarna, detta genom åtta

deltagare i Downs & Hazens (1977) Communication Satisfaction

Questionnaire samt semistrukturerade intervjuer. Respondenterna upplever

en öppen och positiv verbal kommunikation dock upplevs den även som ett

störningsmoment. Lagandan upplevs som stark och främjande av den

individuella och organisatoriska prestationen. Arbetssituationen skulle

förbättras om privata utrymmen upprättas samt regler och rutiner gällande

agerande i kontorslandskap införs.

The purpose of this study was to examine the attributions and responses that managers make to poor performance using the construct of enabling from the field of substance abuse. Approximately 200 government and 55 non-government managers responded to a three-part questionnaire exploring managersâ enabling behaviors, attribution of the causes of poor performance for a current or previous poor performer, and demographics of the managers and their selected poor performing subordinate. The research data showed that there was no appreciable relationship between the managersâ demographics and the managersâ enabling or non-enabling behaviors toward the poor performer. The data also indicated that managers attribute poor performance to internal attributions instead of external attributions. Furthermore, there was no evidence from the data that attribution played a part in which enabling or non-enabling behavior the managers exhibited toward the poor performer. Analysis of the data showed that managers chose the enabling behavior of micromanaging the poor performer by providing close, daily support; eliminating the employeeâ s responsibilities by extending the deadline; and transferring the problem by transferring the employee to another office. Additionally, some managers indicated that they would reward the poor performance by doing things such as giving ratings commensurate with the norm of the office, before avoiding the poor performance by reducing the requirements of the task. Managers also chose non-enabling behaviors. When combined with enabling behaviors, non-enabling behaviors were the second choice, after micromanaging and before eliminating the employeesâ responsibilities. The top three non-enabling behaviors used by the managers were giving an oral warning, consulting with management, and giving a written warning. The research not only showed that managers exhibited enabling and non-enabling behaviors towards poor performing employees, it clearly indicated that a continuum of enabling behavior exists. At one end of the continuum are non-enabling behaviors in which managers require poor performers to accept the consequences for their poor performance. At the opposite end of the continuum are behaviors in which managers do not attempt to do anything about either the performance issue or the poor performer.

This study examines the illustrations that appear at the Office of the Dead in English Books of Hours, and seeks to understand how text and image work together in this thriving culture of commemoration to say something about how the English understood and thought about death in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The Office of the Dead would have been one of the most familiar liturgical rituals in the medieval period, and was recited almost without ceasing at family funerals, gild commemorations, yearly minds, and chantry chapel services. The Placebo and Dirige were texts that many people knew through this constant exposure, and would have been more widely known than other 'death' texts such as the Ars Moriendi. The images that are found in these books reflect wider trends in the piety and devotional practice of the time. The first half of the study discusses the images that appear in these horae, and the relationship between the text and image is explored. The funeral or vigil scene, as the most commonly occurring, is discussed with reference to contemporary funeral practices, and ways of reading a Book of Hours. Other iconographic themes that appear in the Office of the Dead, such as the Roman de Renart, the Pety Job, the Legend of the Three Living and the Three Dead, the story of Lazarus, and the life of Job, are also discussed. The second part of the thesis investigates the musical elaborations of the Office of the Dead as found in English prayer books. The Office of the Dead had a close relationship with music, which is demonstrated through an examination of the popularity of musical funerals and obits, as well as in the occurrence of musical notation for the Office in a book often used by the musically illiterate. The development of the Office of the Dead in conjunction with the development of the Books of Hours is also considered, and places the traditions and ideas that were part of the funeral process in medieval England in a larger historical context.

The aim of this study is to explore the correlation between contemporary political agenda and film themes, how and if the antagonists’ behavior is depicted in relation to whom the political opponent was at the time of the making of the film. The literature is concurrent: movies are used to spread norms and political messages. There are several examples; during the Cold War people and antagonist behavior could clearly be linked to the Soviet Union. During the Gulf War the antagonists was often depicted as Arabic terrorists, but after the war the villain character became unclear and was often represented by natural disasters, organized crime, corruption etc. Following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Arabic terrorists once again became the new antagonists. The film selection is made out of the five most profitable movies (adjusted for inflation) that take place in our world that was produced during the Cold War, and five films that fill the same criteria that was produced after the Cold War. My goal was to see if I could see a correlation between the political agenda at the time of the making of the movie, how the antagonists are portrayed and what political themes were addressed. Unexpectedly, I found no such correlation in my film selection. However, I could see similarities in certain genres, such as action, thrillers and adventure movies, that support the theories in the literature.
Jag studerar huruvida man kan dra en parallell mellan den rådande politiska agendan och filmens politiska teman samt hur skurkgestaltningen ter sig i relation till vem den politiska motståndaren var då filmen gjordes. Litteraturen är tydlig kring att film används för att sprida normer och politiska budskap. Det finns flera exempel kring hur man under kalla kriget främst hade Sovjet eller personer och beteenden som tydligt kunde kopplas till Sovjet som skurkar. Efter kalla kriget, i samband med Gulfkriget, blev det under en tid araber för att därefter vara en mer oklar skurkroll (ofta naturkatastrofer, organiserad brottslighet, korruption, etc.). Efter terrorangreppen mot USA den 11:e september 2001 fick man återigen en tydlig motståndare och den arabiske terroristen blev den nya antagonisten. I min studie utgår jag från de fem filmer som drog in mest pengar (justerat för inflation), som utspelar sig i vår värld och som kom under kalla kriget, samt de fem filmer inom samma kategorier som kom därefter. Detta för att se om jag kan se en tydlig parallell mellan den rådande politiska agendan och hur skurkarna gestaltas samt vilka politiska teman som tas upp. Oväntat nog finner jag att ingen sådan tydlig koppling finns i de exemplen. Jag finner liknande paralleller inom vissa genres, såsom actionfilm, thrillers och äventyrsfilm, men ingen direkt koppling till filmen generellt kan göras.

Image and the Office of the Dead in Late Medieval Europe explores the Office of the Dead as a site of interaction between text, image, and experience in the culture of commemoration that thrived in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. The Office of the Dead was a familiar liturgical ritual, and its perceived importance and utility are evident in its regular inclusion in devotional compilations, which crossed the boundaries between lay and religious readers. The Office was present in all medieval deaths: as a focus for private contemplation, a site of public performance, a reassuring ritual, and a voice for the bereaved. Examining the images at the Office of the Dead and related written, visual, and material evidence, this book explores the relationship of these images to the text in which they are embedded and to the broader experiences of and aspirations for death.

The paper concentrate on problems connected with problems of peoples with disability. The main aims of the paper is to measure the level of quality of service in the case of architectural barriers in municipal offices by peoples in disability. We made following hypothesis: the types of disability significantly affects the perception of quality of services in municipal office regarding architectural barrier. The problem of satisfaction of people with disability in the case of architectural barriers in municipal office in Sosnowiec was analyzed from type of disability point of view. We distinguished five main types of disability in the paper: sensory impairment – a lack, damage or disorder of sensory analysers’ function (this category includes the blind, the visually impaired, the deaf, hard of hearing persons and people with visual and auditory perception disorders); intellectual impairment – mental retardation; social functioning impairment – disorders of neural and emotional balance; communication impairment – hindered verbal contact (speech impediments, autism, stammering); motor impairment – people with motor organ dysfunction. On the basis of that are discussed in this publication the research, we can conclude that the overall assessment of architectural barriers for people with disabilities is as in the case of the Municipal Office in Sosnowiec at an average level. The problems focus mainly on matters of specialized service selected groups of customers with disabilities who require further elaboration. Another type of problem is to issue a limited number of parking spaces for the disabled, but for objective reasons, it will be difficult to solve. Also we can say that the assessment of the architectural barriers by peoples with various types of disability vary significantly. The architectural barriers are the problem especially for people with motor disabilities – those persons are going to municipal office often and because of type of their disability barriers within the office and near the office is the big problem for them. The results are supporting the hypothesis that the type of disability affects perception of architectural barriers by peoples with disabilities.

Optimal transport has received much attention during the past few years to deal with domain adaptation tasks. The goal is to transfer knowledge from a source domain to a target domain by finding a transportation of minimal cost moving the source distribution to the target one. In this paper, we address the challenging task of privacy preserving domain adaptation by optimal transport. Using the Johnson-Lindenstrauss transform together with some noise, we present the first differentially private optimal transport model and show how it can be directly applied on both unsupervised and semi-supervised domain adaptation scenarios. Our theoretically grounded method allows the optimization of the transportation plan and the Wasserstein distance between the two distributions while protecting the data of both domains.We perform an extensive series of experiments on various benchmarks (VisDA, Office-Home and Office-Caltech datasets) that demonstrates the efficiency of our method compared to non-private strategies.

Patents provide a solid legal framework for inventors to fairly benefit from their contribution to technology. The social deal around patents, requires a clear and sufficient disclosure of novel and inventive subject-matter. This means that patents contain valuable information on the most advanced state of innovation worldwide. Consequently, providing an overview of the granted patents seems to be crucial to know the industrial trends. In this presentation, the public data is decoded and presented in selected granted patents at European Patent Office (EPO) from 2015 to 2020 (for which the opposition periods have expired) to sketch this evolution and show the major industrial trends. The scope of the presentation is revealing some latest industrial developments and growing technology developments in manufacturing of ferrous powders & sintered steels.

As part of ARL’s Research Library Impact Framework initiative, a team at Syracuse University Libraries conducted a study to explore the impact of embedding three “distinct academic learning communities” in Syracuse University’s Bird Library: the Blackstone LaunchPad; the Center for Learning and Student Success; and the Syracuse Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Engagement. Three objectives guided the team: (1) explore how the libraries impact the communities; (2) determine how the communities impact the libraries; and (3) identify methods/metrics that could demonstrate reciprocal impact and be useful to the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). Impact was explored from multiple perspectives, including community directors, community participants, the libraries’ dean, and libraries’ staff. Results point to the value of the library as a central and interdisciplinary academic space for the communities, one that helps break down disciplinary borders by allowing community participants to more easily meet and collaborate with students from other schools and colleges.
