The purpose of this study was to explore situations experienced by 12 health-care providers working in two nursing homes. Individual interviews, using a narrative approach, were conducted. A phenomenological–hermeneutical method, developed for researching life experiences, was applied in the analysis. The findings showed that good care situations are experienced when the time culture is flexible, the carers act in a sovereign time rhythm, not mentioning clock time or time as a stress factor. The results are discussed in terms of anthropological and sociological theory: time as event and action and flexible time cultures. Care settings for persons with dementia represent many challenges, such as a heavy workload and time strain. Time ethics is a construction, understanding time used in caring for persons suffering from dementia, which involves a mature, responsible and flexible nursing approach to these patients.

The emergence of nursing homes in the Middle Ages has introduced health programs specifically health care which occupy the largest proportion of nursing homes services. Nursing homes provide services, medical care, for injury problems, disability in sick patients and need services and medical care and rehabilitation. Many nursing providers provide good care, but in many other countries it guarantees nursing homes to individuals who are cared for but they are very inadequate, sometimes very surprising, the services provided actually accelerate their physical, mental, and emotional health deterioration. They often get rights violations and are even subject to physical abuse. This article discusses matters relating to history and psychiatric services for those who have become nursing home residents since 1990.

Background: Studies have demonstrated the extensive use of coercion in Norwegian nursing homes, which represents ethical, professional as well as legal challenges to the staff. We have, however, limited knowledge of the experiences and views of nursing home patients and their relatives. Objectives: The aim of this study is to explore the perspectives of nursing home patients and next of kin on the use of coercion; are there situations where the use of coercion can be defended, and if so, under which circumstances? Methods: The data are based on individual interviews with 35 patients living in six nursing homes and seven focus group interviews with 60 relatives. Ethical considerations: Participation was based on written informed consent, and the study was approved by the Regional Committees for Medical and Health Research Ethics. Results: More than half of the patients and the majority of the relatives accepted the use of coercion, trusting the staff to act in the patient’s best interest. However, the acceptance of coercion is strongly related to the patients’ lack of understanding, to prevent health risks and to preserve the patient’s dignity. Conclusion: The majority of nursing home patients and relatives accepted the use of coercion in specific situations, while at the same time they emphasised the need to try alternative strategies first. There is still a need for good qualitative research on the use of coercion in nursing homes, especially with a closer focus on the perspectives and experiences of nursing home patients.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate aspects related to difficulty to retain nursing assistants at nursing homes in Sweden related to perceived work environment characteristics.Design/methodology/approachTo reveal aspects related to difficulty to retain nursing assistants, the paper uses the BIKVA model, sense of coherence and New Public Management (NPM). In total, three focus groups with nursing assistants at three nursing homes are interviewed with corresponding individual interviews with their senior managers and users. The purpose is to analyze the situation from the affected group of nursing assistants. The focus of this study is how nursing assistants discuss related to recruit and retain nursing assistants at nursing homes and elderly care and the response from senior management related to those aspects.FindingsThe main conclusions are that nursing assistants consider their job as meaningful, but limited latitude and direct involvement in managing their daily tasks in a continuous communication with management affect negatively. Furthermore and combined with wage levels, aspects related to scheduling, working hours, shift work, split shifts and understaffing generate a burdensome and stressful environment affecting the possibility to retain staff in a negative direction.Originality/valueThe research uses a new approach utilizing the BIKVA model, sense of coherence and NPM. The study shows that central in retaining nursing assistants at nursing homes relates to aspects such as wages, staffing, shift work and split shifts and continuous communication between nursing assistants and management.

Aim: The study aimed to identify and compare aspects of the different Spanish regulations on the minimum conditions that nursing homes must meet and to compare whether these requirements significantly affect the price of a nursing home place in each region. Methods: We analyzed and compared the 17 regional regulations that must be met by nursing homes in terms of equipment and social and healthcare staff and combined this information with regional information concerning the price and coverage of public and subsidized places in nursing homes. Results: The study revealed significant regional inequality in physical facilities and human resources. However, the number of regulatory measures referring to the mandatory availability of physical space or specific material resources was not positively correlated with an increase in the price of a place in a public or subsidized nursing home. Conclusions: No unified regulations throughout Spain regulate the aspects that residential centers must comply with. There is a need to move towards a person-centered approach, providing an environment as close to home as possible. The regulation of minimum standards to be met by all nursing homes at the national level should not significantly impact prices.

Background: Autonomy and participation are threatened within the group of older people living in nursing homes. Evidence suggests that healthcare personnel act on behalf of older people but are still excluding them from decision-making in everyday care. Objective: The purpose was to describe registered nurses’ experience of caring for older people in nursing homes to promote autonomy and participation. Research design: A descriptive design with a phenomenological approach was used. Data were collected by semi-structured individual interviews. Analysis was inspired by Giorgi’s method. Participants and research context: A total of 13 registered nurses from 10 nursing homes participated. Ethical considerations: Ethical approval was obtained from the Regional Research Ethics Committee. Informed consent was achieved and confidentiality guaranteed. Findings: The essence of caring for older people in nursing homes to promote autonomy and participation consisted of registered nurses’ awareness of older people’s frailty and the impact of illness to support health and well-being, and awareness of acknowledgement in everyday life and trusting relationships. Paying attention to older people by being open to the persons’ wishes were aspects that relied on registered nurses’ trusting relationships with older people, their relatives and surrounding healthcare personnel. The awareness reflected challenges in caring to promote older people’s right to autonomy and participation in nursing homes. Registered nurses’ strategies, hopes for and/or concerns about development of everyday life in nursing homes were revealed and mirrored their engagement in caring for older people. Discussion and conclusion: Awareness of older people’s frailty in nursing homes and the importance of maintained health and well-being were described as the main source for promoting autonomy and participation. Everyday life and care in nursing homes needs to be addressed from both older people’s and healthcare personnel’s perspectives, to promote autonomy and participation for residents in nursing homes.

This paper addresses the broad topic of what older people think about nursing homes in Portugal. In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and considering the tragic events taking place in nursing homes, the challenge of reimagining the sector involves not only improving procedures and models of care, making sure they meet what citizens consider adequate, but also rehabilitating the image people have about nursing homes and rebuilding trust. Current and future decisions about how one meets LTC needs is influenced by the extent to which individuals see the alternatives as adequate. The paper presents evidence collected from a qualitative study run just before the COVID-19 pandemic began, with a sample of 45 community-dwelling individuals aged 60 plus, in Portugal. Opinions and views about nursing homes were collected and the results point to enduring negative aspects that are considered at odds with what constitutes adequate care. The paper discusses in length what those aspects are and concludes that future reforms of the nursing homes sector in Portugal need to consider what current and future users think and feel about that specific type of service. Debates in Portugal tend to be more focused on discussions about expanding the sector and less on aspects of quality of care. Views and opinions of interviewed participants, however, suggest that people may be more worried about quality of care.

This study attempted to identifj and explore the role the building plays in the organisation culture of nursing homes. To do this a research plan was formulated in which the central plank was a case-study of a seventy-five bed high care nursing home. As part of the case-study, interviews were conducted at the nursing home with ten members of staff, two residents and a daughter of a resident. The study was also informed by interviews with two architects, who specialise in the design of nursing homes and aged care facilities. A theoretical model entitled the 'Conceptual Framework' was developed prior to the case-study. It was tested by applying it to findings related to the physical context and the organisation culture of the case-study venue. The hypothesis that the building does influence the culture of the nursing home environment was explored by studying the manner in which the building influenced the lives of those who work in the nursing home and those who live there. This challenge was met with the use of theoretical contributions from organisation theory and psychodynamics, which together provided a vehicle for analysis of the culture and the building's role in it.

The focus of this study was to determine what types of information and support families wanted at the time they admitted a relative to a long-term care facility. Twenty families were interviewed by telephone, including both the primary caregiver and, where appropriate caregiving family members. It was found that half of the families felt they wanted no additional information or support than they had received, and that they were basically satisfied with the facility's admission process. The majority of the families felt that the institution also encouraged their continued involvement with their relatives after admission.

The results suggest that researchers and practitioners need to be aware, however, that the admission process if often a stressful time, and that family members may be so involved in making long-term care arrangements that they do not focus on their own needs, but only on those of the elderly patient. Support services and information should be provided on an individual basis, considering such factors as whether the caregiver is employed full-time and the distance the caregiver lives from the facility.

The purpose of the study was to develop a behavioral nursing intervention strategy for specific deficits in grooming performance of elders with dementia. A quasi-experimental two-group design using switching replications with removed intervention was employed. Three residents with severe cognitive impairments and three residents with mild cognitive impairments were chosen from a special dementia care unit of a long-term care facility. Three residents among six residents were randomly selected to receive the behavioral intervention early. Baseline and post-intervention assistance was provided by nurse aides. Each resident was asked to wash hands, brush teeth, wash face, and comb hair in a sequence. Ten intervention sessions were conducted by the trained intervener for two consecutive weeks. The intervention consisted systematic prompting and social reinforcement. A total of 21 sessions were collected in the morning using videotape recordings. Interobserver agreement for the instruments designed by the investigator was measured by the trained observers. Data were analyzed in two phases. First, the quantitative data were analyzed to determine the independent functional behaviors of individuals, and the change in the intensity of nursing effort associated with grooming of elders with dementia. Data were examined by individual graphic display throughout the three phases (baseline, nursing intervention, post-intervention). Second, the qualitative data were analyzed to determine the antecedents, consequences, and resident responses associated with grooming, the caregiver problem behaviors, and resident problem behaviors associated with grooming performance. The results show that the functional behaviors of even severely demented elders can be promoted, indicating the effectiveness of nursing care strategies on the ADL task of grooming. The data in this research suggest that maintaining or improving functional ability is possible with a behavioral nursing intervention, which was a highly structured and systematic approach that involved modifying the environmental and behavioral context, through strategies such as prompting and social reinforcement, when necessary. Furthermore, through the qualitative analysis, the functional relationships between antecedents, consequences, and behaviors of demented elders allowed the investigator to analyze the caregiver problem behaviors and resident behavior problems associated with grooming.

This study uses a qualitative in-depth research design to explore the attitudes that community living people over 85 years of age (n=lO) hold towards relocating to an aged care facility. Aged care facilities are supported accommodation options for the elderly that were previously known as nursing homes or hostels (Commonwealth Department of Health and Family Services, 1997). This type of accommodation currently houses 31 % of the total population of people over 85 years of age (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2004-2005). Attitudes towards new environments are associated with relocation adjustment, and a review of the literature reveals negative perceptions by younger elderly people towards aged care facilities. Demographic trends indicate a rapid increase in the number of very-old people who are in the high-risk group for admission to aged care facilities; however there is a paucity of research regarding their attitudes towards such relocation. There are many implications for aged care service providers as a result of these demographic trends, but particularly in relation to accommodation options for the elderly. This research examines the attitudes that the very-old hold about going into residential care. It also explores the emotions underpinning that attitude. The main areas that emerged included concerns over media representation, perceived lack of control and fear of a loss of independence. There were very negative attitudes toward the loss of the home itself followed by concerns over loss of personal possessions. The very-old have such rich histories embedded in their home and possessions that these things become a part of their identity and culture (Moore, 2000) rather that a separate entity, and therefore the loss of these possessions could ultimately lead to the loss of self. The results have proven to be generally negative toward relocation to an aged care facility and combined with an assumption by the participants that there is no opportunity for future planning once in care, some expressed they would choose death rather than relocation. The implications of allowing these negative attitudes to continue without interventions based on further research and community consultation, will only add to the relocation stress syndrome already being experienced by many of very senior members of society (Capezuti, Boltz, & Renz, 2004).

The following study assessed the effectiveness of two simple and inexpensive performance feedback conditions in improving the job performance of institutional staff. Participants were care staff employed at a large center for the developmenta1ly disabled. During two 3 week sessions participants from two separate treatment units received publicly posted feedback graphs with either their own personal names or self-chosen anonymous codes to designate whose graphs were whose. These graphs were posted in each unit's training room and depicted participant performance (use of rewards and prompts) during behavioral training sessions with developmentally disabled clients. These two conditions were investigated to determine whether designation by proper name is important in the effectiveness of public feedback. It was hypothesized that the use of personal names would have a greater effect than anonymously coded feedback. Results indicated that only one participant's performance improved during the personal name condition. For the same participant there was a decrease in performance during the subsequent anonymous code condition. For the other 5 participants, neither of the two feedback conditions were successful in improving their performance.

Over the past decade, efforts led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) have reduced healthcare-associated infections in acute care settings nationally. In 2013, HHS identified that the next phase of these healthcare-associated infection reduction initiatives would target long-term care facilities through the publication of a new chapter in the National Action Plan to Prevent Health Care Associated Infections devoted to this setting. Long-term care facilities are nursing facilities that provide “medical, skilled nursing and rehabilitative services on an inpatient basis to individuals who need assistance preforming activities of daily living, such as bathing and dressing”. These facilities are the primary residence for 2.5 million, predominantly elderly Americans and represented $143 billion nationally in healthcare costs as of 2010. Accordingly, it is a national priority to reduce healthcare-associated infections in this setting and protect this vulnerable population. Healthcare-associated infections caused by multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) are a particular burden in the long-term care population. These pathogens, usually bacteria, are defined as being resistant to one or more classes of antimicrobial agents. However, MDROs frequently exhibit resistance to nearly all antimicrobial drugs. Clinical infection control guidelines recommend isolation precautions to prevent MDRO transmission, based on evidence collected in acute care settings. However, the limited evidence that is available from studies in long-term care facilities suggests that isolation precautions may not be effective in this setting. Given that the reduction of antibiotic resistant infections is a priority of the HHS, The White House, Healthy People 2020, and the World Health Organization, it is necessary to confirm and support the appropriate use of isolation precautions for MDROs with evidence specific to long-term care facilities. Therefore, this dissertation describes the current evidence for and use of isolation precautions in long-term care facilities for MDROs. Further, it offers the most comprehensive descriptions of both isolation precautions use and predictors of MDRO infection in nursing homes (NHs), a specific type of long-term care residential setting. To assist the reader, Chapter 1 will provide background for these studies including context for current infection control and prevention practices in long-term care facilities, the importance of MDRO infections and the need for new evidence regarding isolation precautions in long-term care. It will also discuss the aims and significance of this dissertation in context of a conceptual framework, gaps in the literature and potential to improve clinical practice. Next, Chapters 2 and 3 of this dissertation systematically review the current evidence regarding effectiveness of isolation precautions against MDROs and the cost of infection prevention and control in this setting, respectively. These chapters outline how publications focused on long-term care are lacking in quality and quantity and offer suggestions for improvement in future research. Chapter 4 qualitatively describes decision-making process regarding use of isolation-based infection prevention techniques in NHs, which depends on four key considerations: perceived risk of transmission, conflict with quality of life goals, resource availability and lack of understanding. Chapter 5 builds on this qualitative analysis by quantitatively examining predictors of isolation precautions use for MDRO infection in a large, national dataset. This analysis confirms that isolation is rarely used and there is variation across NHs’ practice. However, NH staff may be tailoring infection prevention and control practice to the needs of specific residents, as would be expected based on the results of the qualitative analysis. Chapter 6 presents an analysis of MDRO infection predictors among elderly NH residents across the U.S. This study confirms concepts associated with MDRO infection in previous studies (e.g., low functionality) and provides more specificity in operationalization of these concepts than has been previously determined (e.g., needing support with locomotion), which can inform future use of isolation precautions in NHs. Finally, Chapter 7 contains a synthesis and discussion of these findings, as well as recommendations for health policy and future research regarding contact isolation precautions against MDROs in NHs.

Limited funds for the delivering of health and social services necessitate the cost-effective utilization of all categories of nursing personnel in old age homes. Professional nurses are being retrenched and supervision over weekends and after hours is being scaled down due to a lack of guidelines for the cost-effective utilization of nursing personnel in old age homes. A combined quantitative-qualitative approach had been applied in this empirical study to explore and describe the utilization of nursing personnel in old age homes. The goal of the study was to compile guidelines for the cost-effective utilization of nursing personnel in old age homes. Data collection and data analysis were conducted during three phases. A survey of the population of old age homes in South Africa was first conducted to determine the composition of the residents and nursing personnel in these old age homes and to explore the cost implications of the personnel composition. The contents of job descriptions of professional nurses working in old age homes were analysed on a computer by the researcher using NUDtIST software during the second phase of the study. The third phase consisted of conducting and analysing focus groups with professional nurses regarding. their expectations of their own duties, tasks and responsibilities and those of nursing auxiliaries and lay caregivers in old age homes. The three phases were conducted simultaneously and the results of the three phases were triangulated and subjected to a limited literature control. The results were verified during visits to nursing homes in the USA, Canada and the UK. A conceptual framework and guidelines for the cost-effective utilization of nursing personnel in old age homes were developed from the findings of this study. Respondents from the first phase of the study and experts verified the guidelines for being applicable, important, clear and accessible. The findings indicated that most of the residents of the old age homes are very old and are in need of 24 hours nursing/care due to their level of frailty. The nursing personnel budget forms a significant portion of the operating budget of the old age homes and managers are of the opinion that professional nurses are expensive but an essential component of the nursing personnel. The duties, tasks and responsibilities of professional nurses were identified as well as those which are shared with nursing auxiliaries and lay caregivers in old age homes. The conceptual framework which was established from the results of the study indicates that the goal, costeffective utilization of nursing personnel, is reached when quality care has been delivered within the constraints of the budget limitations. The process has been described as the compiling of guidelines for all categories of nursing personnel regarding clinical nursing, nursing management and nursing education as well as the handling of non nursing tasks while considering the personnel standards and job descriptions. The role players are the manager, all categories of nursing personnel, lay caregivers, family and volunteers which perform within the restrictions of the personnel composition and the appropriate code of conduct regulations. The context for the utilization of nursing personnel is the old age home where nursing/care giving is delivered on a continuum and the dynamics which influence the cost-effective utilization of nursing personnel include applicable legislation and policies of government departments and non government organizations.

Abstract Although much has been written about end-of-life care for adults, far less emphasis has been placed on the needs of dying infants and children. The ongoing painful dilemmas and struggles for families with infants and children who are dying remain hidden from society’s view, yet the demands and challenges of caring for a dying child are being addressed within hospitals and homes on a daily basis. Individuals committed to children with life-threatening illnesses and a modest number of hospice programs are making a difference, finding ways to significantly impact the imbalance in addressing the needs of children. The irony for pediatric caregivers is that “end-of-life care” is often necessary at the very beginning of a child’s life. Nurses can be instrumental in incorporating this contradiction into a realistic and compassionate framework for the care of children and families dealing with terminal illnesses. The report from the Institute of Medicine, When Children Die: Improving Palliative and End-of-Life Care of Children and Their Families, set forward the challenge to improve all aspects of end-of-life care for children and families, including improved quality and access to pediatric hospice. The National Consensus Project Guidelines for Quality Palliative Care published in 2004 also provide direction for pediatric care within the over-all perspective of care for all those, adults or children, facing life-threatening illness.

Long-term care is a setting of provision of health and supportive services to patients unable to practice self-care, usually over months or years. For older frail patients, nursing homes have increasingly become a common setting for long-term care. Approximately 65% of nursing home residents die within 12 months of nursing home placement. A vast majority of these patients experience significant symptom distress, and frequent hospital admissions. Palliative care in these at risk patients is essential to improve symptom management, aligning care with patient care, and reduce hospital readmissions. This chapter outlines the important aspects involved in provision of palliative care in long-term settings.

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study is to identify the changes inherent to aging that predispose to the development of depressive conditions in the elderly. METHOD: this is an integrative review of the literature and aims to answer the following guiding question: What are the changes inherent to aging predispose to the development of depression in the elderly? A search was conducted in the SCIELO, PUBMED, and VHL databases, carried out from July 2023 to November 2023, using the Health Sciences Descriptors; depression, aging, health services for the elderly. LITERATURE REVIEW: The aging process, changes such as the loss of loved ones, the use of medications, and the onset of various diseases can have repercussions on the mental health of the elderly, including increasing susceptibility to depression. The prevalence of depression in the elderly varies between geographic regions, as well as between urban and rural centers. People aged 60 years or older are considered elderly, and it is shown that the world population is aging due to the increase in longevity, depression is increasingly present in the life of the elderly, compromising their routine and significantly altering their quality of life. This disease does not choose its victims, but affects a large part of the elderly, especially those who live in nursing homes, far from their families and, many times, isolated. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: It is essential to ensure that the elderly maintain their functional capacity in all aspects, that is, the full enjoyment of their citizenship. Everyone's knowledge about the factors that may intervene in the quality of life of the elderly population with depression is essential so that preventive measures can be adopted early, with the objective of characterizing and referring these individuals to specialized care early.

We have been examining home care nursing from the perspective of service research/service design research. We have presented the process of 'co-creation' between visiting nurses and patients to restore/continue the patient's daily life (Otani and Ito 2021: 503-509) and have also examined the work of visiting nurses made with patients and their families in the patients' homes as sticky information that is difficult to detach from the context and difficult to transfer (von Hippel 1994, Otani and Ito 2021: 503-509). In light of these findings, this paper aims to identify the difficulties visiting nurses face in transferring the knowledge they co-create with patients and patients' families in patients' homes to their fellow nurses and health professionals in the workplace. In service research, the importance of the perspective that providers and recipients "co-create" value together (Vargo and Lusch 2004, 2008, 2014) has been pointed out. On the other hand, in previous anthropological research on the transmission of deeds (eg. Lemonnier 2002), there is little analysis from the perspective of the relationship between the provider of the deeds and the recipient of the value of the deeds, or from the perspective of co-creation by both parties. The analysis in this paper is significant and novel in that it incorporates the perspective of co-creation in service research into previous anthropological research on the transmission of deeds. The study period was from 2013 to November 2022. The study site was X visiting nurse station in Nagoya City. The research method consisted of observation and interviews at the home-visit nursing station and at the patients' homes. The provider (visiting nurse) listened to the requests of the recipients (patients) and their families and develops nursing care techniques(services) to support their preferred way of life. The nurses listed them and had the patient and family select them proactively to their satisfaction. In order for patients and their families to remain satisfied with nursing care, the co-created nursing skills had to be transferred to fellow nurses and health professionals so that other nurses, not just the nurse who created them, could also perform them. Nurses recorded their inventions in their electronic health records and explain them in meetings, but there were limitations to recording and explaining them verbally. Because (1) the techniques created by visiting nurses and others were stored in the nurse's body. Because of their dependence on the nurse's body, the only way to communicate them to others was to express them with gestures or to communicate them verbally in parts (using the 'craft language'). In addition, (2) the techniques produced by visiting nurses and others were closely linked to the context of the patient's home. This is because, unlike care in hospital nursing, visiting nurses form (co-create) the skills in the patient's home, together with the patient and their family. That was difficult to transfer the skills embedded in the context of the patient's home to other nurses and health professionals.

1 BackgroundBased on the current structural shortage of labor force and serious shortage of caregivers in China's elderly and medical services [1], the future demand for elderly care services for the elderly population is also increasingly strong [2]. At present, the proportion of Chinese elderly people living in elderly care institutions is 0.73%, which reflects that there are still some obstacles to the general acceptance of elderly care institutions by Chinese elderly people. Combined with the theory of environmental psychology, it can be seen that the environment can have an impact on behavior, psychology and other aspects, so the scientific shaping of space is inextricably linked to the enhancement of the user's spatial acceptance. Based on this, this study discusses the development history, development status and future development trend of nursing home design in China, and explores the innovative development path of nursing home design in the future. It aims to improve the acceptance and willingness to use nursing homes by the elderly and their families through optimization at the design level, so as to alleviate the current aging problem in China and the world.2 MethodDesign form language, is a kind of abstract language that can cover the design concept, design strategy, is a logical combination of structure, color, material and other figurative language in design. The change of design form language is often closely related to the change of user needs, the development of the industry now, etc. Citespace can present the structure of knowledge, the situation of information in the form of graphical distribution [3], and combined with the resulting graphs to analyze the disciplinary structure of the field of study related to the discipline structure, the hot frontier and other laws [4]. In view of the fact that the keyword maps that can be directly generated by importing literature data in Citespace cannot accurately represent the design form language explored in this study, this study organizes the design form language of each piece of literature in the valid title data for the titles, keywords, and abstracts of the 253 pieces of literature in the CNKI database, respectively.3 ResultThis study combines the data processing results of the design form language to produce three results related to the development of nursing home design in China. First, the development history of nursing home design in China is divided into three stages: the "starting period", the "high speed development period" and the "innovation enlightenment period", and there is still much room for development. Secondly, from the current development status of Chinese nursing home design, the concentration of current research is high, which also proves that the innovation of Chinese nursing home design is low at this stage. In addition, the research hotspots are mainly "people-oriented" and "integration of medical and nursing care", which reflects the current Chinese nursing home design's emphasis on the physiological and psychological needs of the elderly, and conforms to the current Chinese government's guidelines for nursing homes. Thirdly, "multi-dimensional consideration of user needs", "optimization of nursing home living mode through spatial design", and "exploration of cutting-edge fields" are proposed, The four suggestions on the direction of future development of nursing home design in China are "multi-dimensional consideration of users' needs", "optimization of living mode through spatial design", "exploration of frontier fields", and "in-depth combination of theory and practice".4 ConclusionThis study applies Citespace to analyze the literature about design form language visualization mapping in the field of Chinese nursing home design in the past 15 years, and according to the changing law of design form language, we have launched a study on the development history, development status, and future development trend of China's nursing home design, and obtained four directions of the future of China's nursing home design that are worth developing and studying in depth, which provides a directional guideline for the research of China's nursing home design.References[1] Zuo Meiyun.
