Abstract: Due to rapid proliferation in the number of vehicles on the road, finding a vacant car parking space is becoming challenging and ubiquitous in every major city, resulting traffic problems are bound to exist. Increase in traffic causes the number of accidents thatcause serious bodily harm to the road users, the pollution caused by the large amount of CO2 released by the vehicles, and the continuous stress of drivers who must drive in often narrow and very busy roads and who must look for a long time to find a space to park. Thus, tosolve the parking problem, lot of research is being done on smart parking management system mechanisms. The existing system gives us the information about the empty slots availability but does not give information about the exact location of parking slot available in sucha big area. This paper proposes an efficient, cost effective smart car Parking System on wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) technology using LabView that can easily locate and secure a vacant parking space at any car park deemed convenient to them. The parking slots are continuously monitored, and data is continuously updated in the display board. Index Terms: parking system, smart parking, IR sensor

This paper presents the design and development of a technique for an Autonomous and Versatile mode Parking System (AVPS) that combines a various number of parking modes. The proposed approach is different from that of many developed parking systems. Previous research has focused on choosing only a parking lot starting from two parking modes (which are parallel and perpendicular). This research aims at developing a parking system that automatically chooses a parking lot starting from four parking modes. The automatic AVPS was proposed for the car-parking control problem, and could be potentially exploited for future vehicle generation. A specific mode can be easily computed using the proposed strategy. A variety of candidate modes could be generated using one developed real time VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) algorithm providing optimal solutions with performance measures. Based on simulation and experimental results, the AVPS is able to find and recognize in advance which parking mode to select. This combination describes full implementation on a mobile robot, such as a car, based on a specific FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) card. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed innovation, an evaluation process comparing the proposed technique with existing techniques was conducted and outlined.

A visual guidance display is a module that was created to assist the pilot task when parking his plane or helping to control aircraft parking at the airport. Up to now, the pilot task is still assisted by a parking attendant (Marshaller) whose aim is to guide the movement of the aircraft to the parking lot. So, a practicum module was made as a medium of learning and knowledge along with the use of alternative technology. This module uses a Visual Guidance Display (automatic aircraft parking aid). This module design uses 3 32x8 pixel dot matrix display boards with dimensions of 13x3.5 cm which are combined into one to form an appropriate combination to produce a parking direction display. The display used is a super right led dot matrix. The controller is an ESP32 microcontroller and a series of shift registers to display the right, left, straight, and stop motion views as well as the distance display of the aircraft to the parking stop point on the apron.

The usage of four-wheeler vehicles has increased over time, and finding a parking spot to park the cars in is getting much more challenging. This issue also exists on the CIT CAMPUS, which led to developing a parking system using IoT technology to make it simpler to find parking places. An IoT-based car parking system based on LoRaWAN technology is suggested as a solution to this issue. The purpose of this research is to design and implement a well-organised parking system with a user-friendly application which can avoid cramming in the car parking area. In the proposed system, Arduino-LoRa transmitter boards, Ultrasonic sensor and LG01-LoRa gateway are used for the implementation. Ultrasonic sensor-equipped Arduino-LoRa transmitter boards are positioned in various parking lots. It is used as a processing element which detects the availability of parking space in the parking area and transmits the data to the gateway that is situated close to the parking lots. The data is received by the gateway and forwards the slot information to the Things Network. The vacant spaces in the parking area could be viewed using a mobile application. The proposed system includes a gate entry management system that reads the number plate of a vehicle using YOLO- V3 algorithm and stores the real-time vehicle log information in the database. This method makes it easier for drivers to identify the available parking spaces offering a streamlined parking experience, which helps users spend less time in parking their cars.

There is a wide literature concerning the application of inductive power transfer (IPT) to light railway systems. In this work, proposed application is innovative with respect to existing literature: static current collection on conventional railway lines is proposed in order to replace the functionalities implemented by conventional battery chargers and the so-called railway “parking” system. According to standards in force, current collection in standstill conditions is limited since pantograph contact shoes and catenary wires have to be protected by thermal overload. These limitations have to be considered since power demand for all the services installed on modern coaches should be higher than 20-40kW. This is a critical technical issue especially for long compositions that have to be prepared for service by activating on-board subsystems such as heating and air conditioning. Additional possible applications should be related to refrigerated wagons in freight compositions. In all these cases the availability of a simple, safe, and compact system should be useful to ensure a wireless power collection to on-board equipment. In this work authors introduce the proposed application and perform some preliminary design considerations. With respect to current literature on IPT systems, authors also introduce some innovative design criteria based on the analogy between resonant electrical system and corresponding mechanical ones. In this way, sizing of the proposed IPT system can be performed using modal methods that are also used for the proper sizing of mechanical vibrating systems, such as example, vehicle suspensions, or pantograph systems.

The traditional mechanical instrument lacks the ability to satisfy the market with characters of favorable compatibility, easy upgrading, and fashion. Thus the design of a TFT-LCD (thin film transistor-liquid crystal display) based automobile instrument is carried out. With a 7-inch TFT-LCD and the 32-bit microcontroller MB91F599, the instrument could process various information generated by other electronic control units (ECUs) of a vehicle and display valuable driving parameters on the 7-inch TFT-LCD. The function of aided parking is also provided by the instrument. Basic principles to be obeyed in circuits designing under on-board environment are first pointed out. Then the paper analyzes the signals processed in the automobile instrument and gives an introduction to the sampling circuits and interfaces related to these signals. Following this is the functional categorizing of the circuit modules, such as video buffer circuit, CAN bus interface circuit, and TFT-LCD drive circuit. Additionally, the external EEPROM stores information of the vehicle for history data query, and the external FLASH enables the display of high quality figures. On the whole, the accomplished automobile instrument meets the requirements of automobile instrument markets with its characters of low cost, favorable compatibility, friendly interfaces, and easy upgrading.

<p>Electric vehicle (EV) has gained incredible interest from the past two decade as one of the hopeful greenhouse gasses solution. The number of Electric Vehicle (EV) is increasing around the world; hence that making EVs user friendly becomes more important. The main challenge in usage of EV is the charging time required for the batteries used in EV. As a consequence, this subject matter has been researched in many credentials where a wide range of solutions have been proposed. However those solutions are in nature due to the complex hardware structure. To provide an unswerving journey an Android application based charging optimization is proposed. This application is aimed at giving relevant information about the EV’s battery state of charge (SOC), accurate location of the EV, booking of the charging slots using token system and route planner. At emergency situations, an alternative service is provided by mobile charging stations. Route planner indicates the temperature by which prediction of reaching the destination can be done. In addition to that nearest places such as parks, motels are indicated. The estimated time and distance between the electric vehicle and the charging station is calculated by the charging station server according to which the parking lot is allocated. Vehicle to charging station communication is established for the time estimation of charging. This will help the EV users to know about charge status and charging station, which support fast charging method and availability of the station on the go and also when to charge their EV. The Arduino UNO board has been used for the hardware part. The hardware results are confirming the conceptual of the proposed work.</p>

A key challenge in robotic bipedal locomotion is the design of feedback controllers that function well in the presence of uncertainty, in both the robot and its environment. This paper addresses the design of feedback controllers and periodic gaits that function well in the presence of modest terrain variation, without over-reliance on perception and a priori knowledge of the environment. Model-based design methods are introduced and subsequently validated in simulation and experiment on MARLO, an underactuated three-dimensional bipedal robot that is of roughly human size and is equipped with an inertial measurement unit and joint encoders. Innovations include an optimization method that accounts for multiple types of disturbances and a feedback control design that enables continuous velocity-based posture regulation via nonholonomic virtual constraints. Using a single continuously defined controller taken directly from optimization, MARLO traverses sloped sidewalks and parking lots, terrain covered with randomly thrown boards, and grass fields, all while maintaining average walking speeds between 0.9 and 0.98 m/s and setting a new precedent for walking efficiency in realistic environments.

Traffic accidents can occur due to driver error, natural factors (bad weather, heavy rain), or technical factors (for example, uneven roads or potholes). When driving a vehicle on the highway, a driver must always maintain a distance from the vehicle in front of it to reduce the risk of an accident. Likewise, when parking the vehicle, the driver must be able to maintain a distance from other objects around the vehicle so as not to crash into the object. To assist the driver in obtaining information about the vehicle's distance to the surrounding objects, this research designs and implements a system to detect the safe distance from a vehicle to other vehicles or objects in front of it. The hardware used in this system is an Arduino Uno R3 microcontroller board, an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor to measure distance, an LCD to display measurement results, and an LED and an electronic buzzer used as indicator and alarm when the distance is not safe. The test results show that the implemented system can measure the distance from a motorbike to objects in front of it and warns the driver by activating the LED and the buzzer if the distance is ranging 40 cm to 50 cm which indicates that the distance is not safe.

The article considers the problems of ship structures exposed to adverse conditions, which contribute to the failure of important mechanisms and reduce the service life of steel parts of machines. One of the most important reasons for the ship structures wear is corrosion. The experience of choosing the electrodes to control the sacrificial protection systems on board ships is presented. There are presented the results of measuring the potential of the hull of the boat ROOM 52-22 at a given control point, using a multimeter MASTECH MY 62 and two control electrodes. The first control electrode is of in-house design; it was made of electric carbon product for electric machines. A standard portable silver chloride reference electrode was used as a second electrode. Both electrodes have been in operation for 3 years. The vessel under consideration was in a long-term parking mode. Control measurements were performed from 23.05 - 07.07.2019, while monitoring the potential of the hull three times a day using several parallel measurements. The time interval between parallel potential measurements made ≈ 5 seconds. The potential of the hull was measured by a specially trained operator. The accuracy of measurements was estimated using the coefficient of variation. Analysis of the studies justified that the accuracy of the control results of the protective anticorrosion systems on ships depends on the choice of the type of control electrode. It has been found that the efficiency of the silver chloride electrode has a strong impact on its operation life. The results of full-scale corrosion studies can be used by ship crews to justify the selection of control electrodes.

The article describes how to transform the time-consuming process of selecting design solutions for parking spaces according to regulatory requirements and terms of reference by building information modelling (BIM). The main purpose of the work is to determine the possibility of applying a generative approach to the parking lot design by creating an optimization model of variant design. The process of selecting design solutions for parking is considered by using mathematical modeling and multi-criteria optimization. A mathematical description of finding the optimal solution on the region of admissible ratios is obtained both between the two types of parking spaces required by regulatory documents (type 1-Standard, with dimensions of 5.3 × 2.5 meters; type 2 - for People with Limited Mobility (PLM), with dimensions of 6.0 × 3.6 meters) and between the occupied area and the total number of parking spaces. The optimization model of choosing design solutions for parking lot helps a design engineer to adapt changes in requirements for defining admissible options for space-planning solutions. The study proves that the task of choosing admissible and optimal solutions for the parking lot, depending on the set of conditions, can be performed by using algorithms, and, consequently, by using computer-aided design in BIM. The proposed approach to parking lot design allows the project organization to coordinate the initial conditions and solutions between the project participants and related departments, and also serves as the basis for solving subsequent design tasks, such as determining the economic efficiency, the safety of the parking project, and others.

This method uses GSM network to collect the parking space’s status in adjacent parking lots, receives SMS or web query from owners, and shows the messages of each parking lot to them. Users could avoid the busy parking lots to parking their cars in the free parking lots relatively due to the query information, and can also obtain the right of parking spaces by appointment. The rock-bottom detection of each slave node by master node via RS485, Mater nodes transfer the detection messages to management system via GSM. Finding a secure and comfortable parking space is one of the needs of automobile owners when they visit retail centers. The ability of parking lot managers to provide information on sufficient capacity and access presents a barrier to delivering parking facilities in retail centers. Due to this, a website-based parking facility management information system is required, allowing drivers to make reservations and payments online based on when they plan to visit the shopping center. The method used in the design of ParkHere information systems is design thinking which consists of empathizing, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing stages. The output of this study shows that at the empathize stage, motorists need information about the capacity of parking lots in various shopping centers before visiting the location. At the defined stage, this shows the need for motorists for website-based and real-time parking facility information. At the idea stage, it is necessary to design an information system based on the website that provides information on the capacity of parking facilities based on the operational time of the shopping center. At the prototype and testing stages, the ParkHere information system can answer the user's needs in choosing a place and location for vehicle parking based on the specified time.

A parking space is the beginning and the end of every car journey. Policies aimed at parking spaces are, thus, an effective way of affecting car travel. Policies regarding parking typically mean setting minimum parking requirements to meet the peak demand for parking. However, in several Swedish cities, as well as around Europe, attempts are made to lower the number of parking places. One way is to build homes without parking places for cars and pilot projects with zero-parking have started to materialize. This paper looks into the academic literature in the field of design and architecture to see how parking issues are dealt with. It also looks into ongoing practice by studying three pilot projects in Sweden that challenge the dominant parking norm by planning and building for a new normal—mobility convenience and zero parking. Both the literature and the cases point to little knowledge in the field. However, high demands on “creative mobility solutions” are placed on housing projects without parking places for cars. Even if the effects of sustainability are still unknown, zero parking pilot projects can narrate the possibility of another future—a future with mobility convenience instead of parking convenience.

The development of the world of transportation, especially land transportation such as cars as well as the development of shopping centers, restaurants, entertainment and recreation facilities that are growing very rapidly make every entrepreneur who manages parakeet lands to think about parking spaces for future visitors. Customers will feel comfortable and calm if they are easy to find a parking space for their vehicle and easy to find their vehicle again. With this condition, it is necessary to have a tool that can tell customers where the empty parking blocks are so that customers no longer need to circle around just looking for empty parking blocks. The more crowded visitors who come to the parking area, the more busy the parking attendants who manage parking are Manually. Therefore, we need a way to solve this problem. Based on these problems, this research designed a vehicle parking automation based on the AT89S51 microcontroller where the microcontroller will check the condition of the parking entrance, if there is a vehicle in front of the door, the microcontroller will check the conditions in each place. If there is an empty place, the LCD will display the place, then the microcontroller will order to open the parking door. The door will close again after the vehicle enters. Journal of Australian Library and Information Association, 72(1), 26–45. https://doi.org/10.1080/24750158.2023.2168115 Objective – To reflect on what it means to include people with invisible disabilities as research participants in research projects. Design – Collaborative, reflective case study using interviews. Setting – Doctoral-granting institution in Australia. Subjects – 2 LIS professionals who were also pursuing doctorates (practitioner-researchers) interviewed each other, each participant fulfilling the role of both interviewer and interviewee. Methods – The researchers did a reflective case study, each reflecting on their own past experiences of including people with invisible disabilities (PwID) as research participants in projects for their doctoral theses. They then interviewed each other and engaged in collaborative discussions. Each interviewer audio recorded and transcribed their own interview, which they also coded individually. The researchers then reviewed the individual coding together and subsequently created a single collaborative codebook that described the emerging themes. The researchers used NVivo software in the development of both the initial codes and final codebook. Main Results – The authors discuss four broad themes that emerged from their coding: “ethical approval for research,” “creating welcoming research environments,” “disclosure of invisible disabilities,” and “use of data.” Key topics in the discussion include questioning assumptions about research subject vulnerability, the value of being sensitive to individual participant voices, the difference between formal disclosure of invisible disabilities (ID) and disclosure that emerges organically throughout the course of an interview, and how research designs that do not consider PwID can create limitations on the use of data from PwID. Conclusion – The article authors noted that researchers should expect that those who participate in their research studies may be PwID, whether or not it is disclosed or explicitly relevant to the project. Thus, they suggest that when researchers shape the research design of their projects, they should thoughtfully engage in questioning their own values regarding inclusivity and not rely exclusively on ethics boards to support ethical and welcoming research environments. Thoughtful engagement might include researching what is involved in creating a safe space by considering such elements as lighting, seating arrangements, colors, and accessibility to restrooms and parking areas. In addition, the authors suggest that researchers should ensure flexibility and responsiveness within the research design and approach the project with full awareness of the impact ID may have on the research processes and the data. They indicate that researchers should remain open to acknowledging their own knowledge gaps, as well as educating others when opportunities arise. Additionally, they suggest that creating welcoming environments for research participants with ID is best done from the very beginning of a project, when it can be integral to the study design and should remain present throughout the course of the research process.

This paper explores the minimum lateral parking distance and parking acceleration/deceleration distance of vehicles to improve the efficiency of automated valet parking (AVP) lots and save urban land. Specifically, the paper focuses on designing parking lots for automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and their parking attributes. To ensure AGV accessibility and maximize AVP capacity, graph theories and unique path-driving methods are used in designing mobile priority parking lots and decision spaces. Additionally, the paper proposes an optimization design for parking lots with obstacles, considering the layout of load-bearing columns and charging resources for electric vehicles in underground parking lots. The article further proposes an optimization design for hybrid parking lots based on spatio-temporal resource conversion in traffic design and the principle of traffic separation in traffic control since hybrid parking lots that accommodate both conventional vehicles and AGVs are crucial to the future development of urban parking lots. The experimental results show that the proposed optimization design for urban parking lots in automated environments is superior to the traditional parking lots design in terms of capacity and density. This paper provides an optimal layout scheme of urban parking lots in multiple scenarios, which can improve the service level of urban static traffic systems.

But at the same time, various problems also come along: Traffic jams are becoming more and more serious, and problems such as parking are becoming urgent problems. This design uses STC89C52 microcontroller, through the infrared sensor module to detect the information of the garage, then the nRF24L01 wireless module is used to carry out the wireless transmission of master and slave information. Finally, the LCD1602 LCD screen is used to establish the human-computer interaction page, and an intelligent parking space management system is designed. The owners can easily check the parking lot to understand the flow of the parking lot through the system, and judge whether to enter the parking lot, saving time. At the same time, it is easier to integrate with other intelligent systems, which provides a foundation for more advanced management and is the premise for making the parking lot a highly intelligent product in the future.

Most of industries in our area lack of reliable information about the occupancy of on-street parking places in the inner districts of large cities that causes unnecessarily high amount of time for searching parking place. The present work is to design, fabricate and test model for smart parking system for bicycle service for on street spaces that has daily entries and exits and helps to reduce parking time. The parking system has sensor by the name IR sensor that does a line-scan for the empty parking space. After that the empty parking space comes to the customer point, returns back to the parking point after loading the bicycle. This method reduces loss of time. It is important to learn the various steps involved in completing the project such as design methods, fabrication details and testing methods. Location of the project is another important aspect. Location is identified as Sohar port.

With the continuous improvement of urban economic development and modernization, the number of motor vehicles has shown a sharp increase in recent years. At the same time, the construction of public parking lots is very backward, and parking spaces are seriously insufficient, leading to increasingly serious problems, such as urban traffic congestion and insufficient parking spaces. The management mode of public parking lot is backward, which is not conducive to the improvement of parking efficiency and may have a negative impact on traffic. This paper mainly analyzes the difference in the management concept of public parking places for social vehicles, and then investigates and analyzes the reasons for poor management and lagging construction of public parking places, and puts forward suggestions to improve the current public parking places.

The information guidance system for parking spaces in large- and medium-sized parking lots is not efficient at present. It tends to be difficult to find an empty parking space in parking lots in big cities. One of the problems is the large amount of calculation in the traditional Dijkstra algorithm. In this paper, an improved Dijkstra algorithm is presented and optimized to find the best parking path with the purpose of looking for the nearest free parking space based on the layout model in parking lot parking guidance. The experiments show that the improved Dijkstra algorithm can find the optimal parking space and the optimal parking path and improve the parking efficiency.

The old town of the city, which has complicated network, is difficult to reform. Because of the traditional flat's low utilization of parking space and shortage of parking spaces, it is urgent to improve the existing public parking facilities for enhancing the status of the old area traffic and promoting the economic development of the old city. On the basis of the thought of double helix bionic structure, this article is to design a new energy-saving convenient parking building. Taking the double helix structure of DNA as the design concept, it takes the advantage of the double spiral of extraction track, and telescopic parking device of intelligent multiple angle, rotating parking platform, interactive extraction of vehicle system and a model for effective utilization of energy to improve the vertical lifting mode of the original stereo parking lot. Taking the characteristics of renewable energy and kinetic energy into consideration, it analyzed the available energy stability and the cost of using index, from the angle of reducing the output operation power and saving the energy. Research results can make the stereo garage's intelligence operation possible, parking access intelligence operations and be able to largely providing ground spaces, and it can greatly provide ground parking capacity, which improves the difficult parking problem in central business district effectively.
