The work focuses on the characteristics of a person's self-attitude in the context of social-psychological displacement problems. This study examines how displacement can lead to changes in a person's characteristics and the specific socio-psychological challenges they face in their new living environment. The research focuses on understanding how self-attitude is expressed during socio-psychological adaptation among displaced individuals. The findings reveal that individuals who experience displacement in a new social environment tend to exhibit low self-confidence, self-management, self-evaluation, self-acceptance, and self-analysis. As a result, they often face internal conflicts and engage in self-criticism. This suggests that during the initial months of displacement, individuals develop a negative self-attitude, with positive aspects of self-attitude diminishing. However, the second stage indicates that positive changes in self-attitude are crucial for the survival and well-being of the individual and their family. Displacement and the challenges of adapting to a new socio-cultural environment are driven by the need for self-reassessment and self-acceptance. Moving from self-criticism and internal conflict towards self-esteem and self-acceptance serves an adaptive function, allowing individuals to better adjust to their new life conditions. Moreover, the study underscores the profound impact of social support networks in facilitating the transition towards a more positive self-attitude among displaced individuals. Strong social ties and community connections are crucial in bolstering self-esteem and fostering a sense of belonging, which are paramount for navigating the challenges of displacement. Recognizing and leveraging these support systems can significantly contribute to displaced individuals' psychological resilience and adaptive capabilities, ultimately enhancing their overall well-being and successful integration into their new environment.

Social marketers are facing major challenges as the United State's aging population becomes increasingly ethnically diverse. Social marketers are interacting with more elderly immigrants, refugees, and multiethnic populations who hold varying world views and health practices. In the face of the dramatic demographic shift toward diversity, concurrent with major changes in healthcare and Medicare, social marketers need to design effective interventions to reduce racial/ethnic and educational/socioeconomic discrepancies in health. Social marketers are also faced with the cultural adaptation of emerging interactive health communication technologies for minority elders who have two major barriers to achieving this communication: low literacy levels and little access to new technologies. It is imperative that social marketers develop culturally competent skills to work with the unique needs of seniors from diverse cultural backgrounds by understanding their needs, beliefs, and behaviors. Culturally appropriate adaptations and extensive pretesting of health messages for literacy and cultural sensitivity will be essential.

The article comprehensively examines the issues related to the transformation of economic crime in the period of globalization and, in particular, the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Arguments in favor of the author’s idea of ways to improve the mechanism of criminal law protection of the domestic economy in the face of new challenges. It is stated that in modern societies the emergence of new types of economic crimes, the growth of economic crime in general and its adaptation to various socio-economic changes. Globalization of crime, together with economic globalization, which serves, so to speak, as a general background, requires experts in the field of comparative criminal law to strengthen international cooperation and develop ways to address a number of issues related to combating criminal behavior that has long gone beyond boundaries of national criminal justice systems. The conclusion is reached that the year 2020 has brought new challenges to the modern connected world: the COVID-19 pandemic, which indirectly made nations unite in the face of a major healthcare threat; also, in a somewhat secondary mode, new forms of white collar criminal behavior, which spreads across the state borders is caused, either directly or indirectly, by the pandemic, and also a wide range of issues, related to national border protection modes. This requires law enforcement agencies to build up joint efforts in combatting new forms of white collar crime both on national and international levels.

Postmodernism is a new perspective on science and technology and today's social culture. The main feature of postmodernism is uncertainty. Humans today are in a condition filled with uncertainty, episodic and dynamic lifestyles. Changes in society occur very quickly, it is not uncommon for cultural shocks to occur, including in the world of education. The main goal of education is to humanize humans, so education must adapt to developments that occur locally to globally. Social studies education has a central role in dealing with the dynamics of social change. Postmodernism is one of the crucial challenges in social studies education learning. This study aims to 1) analyze the conditions and challenges of social studies education in the postmodern era and 2) analyze the fundamental skills that need to be taught in social studies education in the postmodern era. This research has a qualitative paradigm using library research. Data collection techniques for the study of related books, articles, and journals, using the hermeneutic data analysis method. Interpretive analysis shows that the emphasis on social studies learning is expected not only to focus on affective and cognitive aspects but also on life skills in the global era, which is synonymous with postmodernism. Adaptation skills, democracy, critical thinking, problem-solving, multiculturalism, socio-cultural relativism, and collaboration skills are needed to equip students to face the dynamics of postmodernism. Therefore, postmodernism in social studies education can be used as a philosophical foundation in the practice of compiling curriculum, materials, and the learning process of social studies education at every level of education.

Abstract: Background: As Philippine School Doha alumni move on and open another chapter in life, they face challenges and new experiences. They may indulge themselves in a new type of environment of rebuilding one's identity abroad. Method: The qualitative paper follows the phenomenological research design to understand the lived experiences and identity development of PSD alumni studying abroad. The necessary data was gathered from a semi-structured interview which was derived from the central question of the study “How do PSD graduates manage their education embracing an international setup?” Four themes were derived and classified that were necessary to make the simulacrum. Findings: It was discovered that internal and external aspects and changes affect one’s ability to adapt to the international setting. Specifically, homesickness, culture, accent, and language barriers are some factors that affect the process of adaptation. The participants emphasized that the workload they experience in the chosen country is more practical and directed on their selected course. Hence, students mostly initiate interaction between both parties. Conclusion: These PSD alumni pursued tertiary education abroad to explore and discover opportunities. Obstacles were encountered due to their unfamiliarity with their reality of venturing into a new chapter of life as a student. Overall, their experience has affected their lifestyle, mental and emotional health, learning outcomes, and relations. Recommendation: This paper suggests tackling a larger population of participants from different fields of college courses to establish the accuracy of the data gathered. They also recommend further investigation regarding the other aspects that affect one's process of acculturating; and lifestyles practiced abroad, such as the cost of living, economic status, and peers. Keywords: Acculturation, Student Resilience, Socio-Cultural Barriers, Cultural Sensitivity, Student Migration, Overseas Education

Background Social prescribing interventions connect mental health service users to community resources, to support physical and mental wellbeing and promote recovery. COVID-19 restrictions impacted the delivery of socially prescribed activities, preventing face to face contact for long periods. Aims The aim of this study was to understand how Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations working with a local NHS mental health Trust responded to the challenges of social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. This understanding will be used to make recommendations for future practice, post-lockdown. Methods Using a convergent mixed methods design, we surveyed VCSE providers of socially prescribed activities intended to be accessible and appropriate for people with severe mental health needs. Follow-up interviews explored further how they adapted during the first year of the pandemic, the challenges they faced, and how they sought to overcome them. The survey and interview data were analysed separately and then compared to identify convergent and divergent findings. Results Twenty VCSE representatives completed the survey which provided a snapshot of changes in levels of connection and numbers reached during lockdown. Of 20 survey respondents, 11 participated in follow-up interviews. Interviews revealed that lockdown necessitated rapid change and responsive adaptation; activities were limited by resource, funding, safeguarding and government restrictions; no single format suited all group members; connection was key; and impact was difficult to gauge. Conclusions VCSE organisations commissioned to deliver creative socially prescribed activities during the pandemic rapidly adapted their offer to comply with government restrictions. Responsive changes were made, and new knowledge and skills were gained. Drawing on experiences during lockdown, VCSE organisations should develop bespoke knowledge, skills and practices to engage service users in future hybrid delivery of arts, sports, cultural and creative community activities, and to ensure that digital activities offer an equivalent degree of connection to face-to-face ones. Additionally, more effective methods of gaining feedback about patient experience of hybrid delivery is needed.

The digital age poses great challenges to traditional media institutions, including the radio industry. This research aims to examine the application of convergence by private radio institutions, particularly Radio Ardan, to navigate this dynamic landscape. Adaptation is key in facing fierce competition in the digital media landscape for survival and achievement of media goals. Radio Ardan, considering the number of listeners, the ranking of private radio stations in Bandung City, and its business strategy, is the center of attention of this research. The internet accelerates cultural shifts in media consumption, facilitates access to audio-visual information, and encourages the growth of alternative mass media platforms, significantly changing the traditional radio landscape. The resulting convergence model can serve as a guide for other private radio stations in Bandung City, helping them adapt to the challenges of the digital era and meet changing consumer preferences. Convergence involves the integration of traditional radio broadcasting with digital platforms such as online streaming, podcasts, social media engagement and mobile apps. By utilizing these various channels, radio stations can expand their reach, engage with audiences in new ways, and stay relevant amidst growing media competition. Through research and analysis of Radio Ardan's convergence efforts, it is hoped that it can provide useful insights and recommendations for other private radio institutions. By understanding and implementing effective convergence strategies, radio stations can increase competitiveness, maintain listener engagement, and secure their position in the ever-evolving media landscape in Bandung City and its surroundings. Adaptation and innovation are the keys to success in the face of these changes, while collaboration with digital platforms opens up new opportunities for the radio industry to spread its wings and continue to survive in the digital era.

With the continuous evolution of higher education environment, the role and career development path of university counselors have also undergone profound changes. The purpose of this study is to explore the role evolution of college counselors in contemporary higher education and the impact of this evolution on their career development. Through in-depth literature review, investigation and case analysis, we systematically analyze the new role characteristics of university counselors and the challenges and opportunities they face in the process of career development. It is found that the role of college counselors is no longer limited to traditional academic guidance, but gradually extends to many fields such as mental health support, career planning, cross-cultural adaptation and so on. This change reflects the diversity of students' needs, and counselors are increasingly becoming the key force for all-round support in this diversified environment. In order to adapt to this change, counselors need to constantly develop and have diversified skills such as interdisciplinary, innovative and cross-cultural adaptation. On the level of career development, the research emphasizes the necessity of lifelong learning for college counselors. With the rapid change of higher education environment, counselors need to keep sensitive to new technologies, educational concepts and subject development. Finally, this study puts forward practical suggestions for the reform of training and higher education. Universities and training institutions should pay more attention to providing interdisciplinary and comprehensive literacy training for university counselors to better meet their multi-role needs in modern higher education.

Peri-urban areas are characterized by their landscapes of closely mixed rural and urban activities and also by the agglomeration of industrial clusters, going with high labor demand. Binh Tan district is a peri-urban area of Ho Chi Minh City, with a fast urbanization rate, mainly due to significant flows of rural migrants, especially coming from the Mekong Delta region. Data show that Khmer immigrants choose this district to improve their livelihood and incomes, with different livelihood diversification. Nevertheless, most of these livelihood activities belong to the informal employment sector. This paper aims to analyze their livelihood capacity of adaptation in the context of the fast changing peri-urban area of Binh Tan district. The results are based on mixed method of primary data and secondary data analysis. Secondary data was collected from two surveys, conducted in two wards (Binh Tri Dong B and An Lac), with 120 questionnaires and 10 in-depth interviews with multi-stakeholders. The results show that Khmer immigrants adapted gradually to urban life, but still have to face new challenges in the adaptation to new livelihoods. Indeed, Khmer immigrants come originally from rural regions, with livelihoods based on agricultural activities. They also combine specific cultural identities. These reasons lead to different disadvantages in their new livelihoods in a large city. As a result, whereas the structure of their employment and income change in a positive trend, the spiritual life changes in a negative trend. To illustrate this difference more clearly, this paper presents some Khmer immigrants’s portraits, who are working in different types of livelihood in both favorable and adverse aspects of the adaptation to a new life in periurban area.

The objective of the article is to present the healing and educational properties of a forest in the context of the digital and consumerist reality of the 21st century and to discuss education for resilience as a specific kind of mental strength, inner power, and ability to cope with obstacles by using one’s own resources and reaching for social support. The research question was formulated as follows: What is the role of education through nature (and with nature) – an important element of which is a forest – in developing and reinforcing resilience in children? The choice of subject is justified by the social and cultural changes, which force a person to face new challenges and expectations. The dynamics of those changes leaves the modern person little time to think about, try to understand, and give meaning to the new conditions of life. Resilience may be a construct that facilitates adaptation to the changing and fragile reality and it may be developed and reinforced through contact with nature, that is, in a forest. In terms of its methodological aspects, the article includes research of a theoretical nature. The author has carried out a synthetic and analytical review of selected books, as well as an analysis of the existing data related to the issue in question.

The current digital revolution has already led to a significant transformation of the content, methods, forms and intensity of civic participation in the socio-political life of almost all states of the world. Modern information and communication technologies have influenced the forms and mechanisms for the implementation of public policy in general, have transformed the process of political communication, creating a new virtual dimension of the public sphere. Obviously, the changes that have taken place require citizens to master new competencies that will allow them to effectively interact both with each other and with government institutions within the framework of a new social and political reality. Therefore, the problem of forming a new, civic competence is one of the key ones in the context of the current process of digitalization of politics and management. The relevance of the issues under study is determined, on the one hand, by the extraordinary acceleration of the pace of development and transformation of all spheres of society, which, in turn, dictates the need to create tools to speed up and simplify the process of adaptation, both for each specific individual and socially political institutions, to a rapidly changing reality, and on the other hand, the task of preserving and strengthening the existing political system of the Russian Federation and the foundations of the constitutional order, which is of particular importance in the context of ongoing information wars, the spread of fakes, including the activities of state authorities and state structures, global problems (such as turbulence in world politics, the COVID-19 pandemic, terrorism, climate change, lack of natural resources) and local (unemployment, separatism, poverty), as well as a number of other dangers and threats that continue to face modern states. This article is aimed at forming the conceptual foundations for optimizing the system of Russian civic education in the face of new challenges and risks. The authors pay special attention to the theoretical understanding of the «civic education» concept, identifying its features and functional characteristics. Based on a comparative approach, the authors analyze the scientific literature that touches upon the issues of civic participation, education, forms and methods of its improvement in modern conditions. In conclusion, the authors turn to concrete examples and formulate recommendations for the successful formation of a conceptual model for optimizing the Russian system of civic education.

This study examines international students’ education for global peace. Students who leave their home countries for educational tourism abroad encounter several challenges: a language barrier, cultural, ethical, and different educational systems, amongst others. Studies have shown that many international students face many challenges because of the need to interact in their new environment; these include communication problems (language), culture shock, the adaptation of value changes, and adjustment to new or completely different ethical principles, amongst others. Hence, this study investigates how 27 international students from 5 continents and 23 countries at the Master's Programme “International Media Studies” (IMS) at the Deutsche Welle Academy in Bonn, Germany, who graduated in 2016, communicated, collaborated, and peacefully coexisted during their two years of studies. Based on the mixed research method and the instrument of the questionnaire, the study is anchored on the symbolic interactionism theory. Findings show that American and African students were the fastest to adjust to an international setting. Findings also reveal that American students are the most optimistic about the IMS programme helping to promote global peace, while African and European students are less optimistic. The study recommends that African and Asian international students should learn more about the culture of the host country when they travel abroad for studies, especially on issues of politeness, patience, and tolerance, and international students, in general, should understand the ethical issues surrounding giving tips when they travel abroad for studies.

Australia’s future landscapes will be shaped by global climatic, economic, and cultural drivers. Landscapes evolve. They are manifestations of the complex negotiations between nature and cultures, over millennia. In the Anthropocene, humans are the dominant evolutionary force reshaping the biosphere. Landscape management involves all human activities and interventions that change the forms and functions of landscapes. It also involves the ways we learn about, and understand the world, and our place in it. Responses to climate change are driving changes in natural resources policy, research and management. Building capability for large-scale, adaptive management is critical in an era of global change. By rigorously examining and learning from recent experience—bioregional conservation planning, natural resource management (NRM), landcare, and water reform—Australia can build capacity for integrated and adaptive resource management. Climate change compounds existing stressors on ecosystems. It adds complexity and presents new challenges for integrated assessment, planning, and management of natural resources. Given the dynamic nature of the ecosystems, static conservation paradigms and stationary hydrology models are increasingly redundant. In the face of inherent complexity and uncertainty, ‘predict and control’ strategies are likely to be less useful. Adaptive approaches are called for, due to the complex relationships and non-linear feedbacks between social, ecological, and climatic systems. Australia should invest in building professional and community capacity. Australia’s scientific and professional capacity in natural resources provides useful foundations, but substantially increased investment is called for. Research should be focused on guiding and influencing management at large scales and on avoiding undesirable thresholds or tipping points in complex ecological systems. Cultural and governance aspects are emphasised as central to effective adaptation strategies, because landscape management is an intergenerational, societal challenge that requires participatory, adaptive learning approaches.

It explores the essence of exogenous factors, such as international trade, foreign investments, and international financial markets, and their impact on the state of economic security. The analysis considers the effects of current geopolitical changes, macroeconomic shocks, and crisis situations on a country’s economic stability. The importance of developing risk management strategies and diversifying risks to maintain an appropriate level of economic security in an unpredictable global environment is emphasized. The article also highlights the significance of developing adaptation and reserve mechanisms, as well as implementing prudent risk management practices, to ensure the stability of a country’s economic system. Based on the identified determinants, several proposals are put forward regarding the need for regulatory political and economic measures that can enhance a country’s economic security in modern conditions. The constant growth of interdependence in international markets, capital mobility, and the expansion of foreign trade volumes present new challenges and threats to the economic stability of countries. Exogenous determinants, which are external factors beyond the direct control of the state, have a significant impact on economic security. The current environment of global volatility, including financial crises, trade conflicts, unpredictable changes in global commodity markets, and major shifts in the geopolitical sphere, greatly affect economic security. These factors can lead to economic disruptions, reduced production, increased unemployment and inflation, disruptions in financial stability, and generate additional threats to socio-political stability. Therefore, understanding exogenous determinants and their influence on economic security is crucial for developing effective risk management strategies and ensuring the stability of a country’s economy.

Abstract Return migration, traditionally not a well-studied and often neglected area, is becoming an important component of the international migration debate. Reintegration is an essential part of return migration and identified as a complex process that is experienced differently by returnees. The adaptation of immigrants in the host country has been extensively studied, while much less attention has been paid to economic and socio-cultural reintegration and the difficulties return migrants face once they come back to their homeland. Especially children and youth born in destination countries with sociolinguistic and socialization difficulties face a particularly tough reintegration process. Theoretically, there is comprehensive literature focused on return migration and reasons for return, but less in return migration policies and reintegration process. Empirically, there is a lack of studies focused on the reintegration of returnees, particularly in the socio-cultural aspect. With increased attention to the importance of this process, many states and governments have established policies or programs to encourage the return of their citizens, and facilitate returnees’ successful and permanent relocation in the new society of the origin country. This paper aims to analyze theoretically and empirically the processes of reintegration of returnees in the origin country by identifying the challenges they encounter in the economic and social-cultural life of the origin country.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, there is a need to understand how the pandemic has influenced anthropological research. This paper presents the results of a research project examining these changes and the challenges anthropologists have faced in carrying out their research methods during the first eight months of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the University of Northern British Columbia in the Fall semester of 2020, undergraduate students led this project and conducted five virtual, semi-structured interviews with socio-cultural anthropologists across Canada, from a variety of career stages and with diverse research approaches. Interview participants described virtual research methods involving a heavy reliance on video conferencing and digitally available resources, benefits and challenges of remote and digital ethnography, changes to immersion and the spatial-temporal aspects of communication, and outcomes of adopting new technologies. The pandemic affected these anthropologists to varying degrees depending on the location of their field site and their career stage. Despite adaptations and challenges, interview participants also offered hopeful commentary on potential long-term changes in the discipline as the pandemic forces anthropologists to rethink the ways in which we conduct our work.

The article examines the current problem of social and psychological adaptation of Ukrainian war migrants of the third age, in particular in the context of their resettlement to Poland. Full-scale military agression in Ukraine led to a significant demographic crisis in the country as many citizens, including people of the third age, were forced to leave their homes and seek refuge in neighboring countries, in particular in Poland. Factors that influence the adaptation process of this group of migrants are analyzed, including the socio-cultural environment, psychological state, family and community support, as well as economic conditions. It is indicated how the language barrier complicates adaptation and the relationship of migrants with the local population. Emphasis is placed on the need to provide support and resources for the war migrants of the third age to facilitate their successful adaptation and integration in the new social environment. The study also highlights Poland’s experience in accepting and adapting this group of migrants and possible ways to overcome the socio-psychological challenges they face.

Modern society is characterized by profound socio-cultural changes, in which new spiritual values are outlined and imposed. Changes occurring in different spheres of public life require transformation in the education system as well, which demands rapid adaptation to the new requirements. In most cases, education is seen as a universal value that faces the challenge of creating the conditions for young people to grow in order to develop their creative and critical thinking skills, to adapt to the new environment, to manage the change. The current state of pre-school education is characterized by the fact that one of the most important trends in its reform and modernization is the replacement of the traditional values of the child's education with the value of the individual. The modern world is witnessing mass migration, including refugees from Ukraine seeking subsidiary protection in various countries, including Slovakia. This article is dedicated to exploring a crucial aspect of the lives of Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia, namely, the role of employment in their cultural adaptation. The author analyzes how gaining employment influences their ability to successfully integrate into a new environment, as well as how it impacts the formation of cultural connections between Ukrainians and Slovaks. The article also examines the factors affecting this process, identifying challenges that arise during employment. It investigates how Ukrainian refugees integrate into Slovak society through their employment and how this contributes to an improved quality of life and fosters favorable conditions for mutual understanding. Based on the research findings, recommendations are formulated to develop initiatives aimed at supporting the cultural adaptation of Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia through improving employment conditions and integration into the labor market. Cultural adaptation of Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia largely depends on their success in the labor market. Critical factors include the ability to find employment, receive fair compensation, integrate into the local community through work, and adapt linguistically. Ukrainian refugees have opportunities for employment, but they often face challenges such as low wages, difficulties in recognizing qualifications, and various socio-cultural barriers. Employment significantly influences the integration of Ukrainian refugees into Slovak society, aiding them in acquiring new cultural norms and interacting with local residents. To enhance the cultural adaptation of refugees in Slovakia, it is essential to intensify language learning support, establish professional training and retraining programs, facilitate the recognition of qualifications, and enhance adaptation support within local communities. Overall, the cultural adaptation of Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia is a complex process requiring further in-depth research. However, ensuring access to employment and providing support in the labor market can significantly ease this process and promote integration into a new society.

The processes of globalization and internationalization are the main factors, which have made a great impact on the evolution of higher education in the last decades of the 21st century. The number of foreign higher degree students in Ukraine has grown at a significant rate in recent years, with the country offering a high quality higher education and, as a result, becoming one of the main European hubs attracting students from all over the world. In the article, the term “foreign student” is referred to any student who goes to another country in pursuit of learning. Since the emergence and popularization of the recent trend of studying abroad, the topic of adaptation of foreign students has become of the key interest among modern European scholars who have become concerned with studying the peculiarities, issues and challenges of living and learning in an unfamiliar social, cultural, and academic environment. With no doubt, studying abroad delivers new knowledge, experiences, and opportunities. However, the adaptation to a host country and a new environment that is far away from home countries, families, and friends, sometimes takes a long time. Moreover, usually, it is challenged with several difficulties including lack of motivation, discouragement, depression, stress, anxiety, psychological conditions, culture shock, loneliness, misunderstands, conflicts, communicating with peers, language incapability, understanding lectures, learning new social norms, and interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds. As a result, these stressors have a great impact on foreign students’ physical and psychological well-being and challenge their wish, motivation, opportunity and capability to participate fully in the process of the cultural and academic adaptation. Even if the universities and host society provide helpful sources and advantageous conditions to enhance the process of their adaptation, sharp differences in socio-communicative environments of the countries, as well as cultural and language differences pose several problems foreign students usually face influencing their present academic performance and future professional medical practices. In the article, the authors discuss the issues of the geographic, psychological, socio-cultural, and linguistic methods of adaptation that have an impact on foreign students’ academic performance, social integration, and career. The authors represent the findings of several studies on the topic exploring characteristic features of the adaptation of students in the higher education institutions of Ukraine. The general purpose of the article is to examine the adaptation using a theory-based explanatory approach. In this study, the adaptation is discussed as part of the social responsibilities of the universities and foreign students. On the one hand, higher education institutions must provide the necessary services and activities to help foreign students to combat the stressors they face in the process of adapting to the Ukrainian socio-cultural and educational environment. Moreover, universities need to ensure equal rights and opportunities for students’ participation in academic life, as well as apply the most effective methods of foreign language learning. On the other hand, foreign students must be motivated enough to take the advantage of the opportunities and resources provided by universities and be responsible for the success of their adaptation to the social and academic life of the host country.

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges and most pressing issues faced by humanity in the modern era. Extreme weather events, changes to world ecosystems, species extinction, disruption of animal and human migration, resource shortages, socio-economic concerns, outbreaks and pandemics, as well as domestic and international conflicts represent only a few select potential climate change consequences. Regrettably, when considering the issues pertinent to climate change, one of the oft-overlooked areas is cultural security. Rising sea levels will lead to some of the world’s islands and coastal cities essentially being erased from Earth, resulting in the destruction, and possibly even the disappearance, of their cultural heritage. Inhabitants of endangered and unlivable areas are likely to drive mass exodus on a global scale, and forcibly displaced persons who find themselves in a new socio-cultural reality face countless challenges that will hinder their sense of cultural security. The most immediate concerns are related to the potential eruption of local and regional conflicts, emergence of negative social behaviors, disappearance of national language and cultural identity, and statelessness due to a loss of habitable lands, all of which pose severe threats to cultural security.

This paper examines the Talyshi people, an Iranian ethnic group divided by the Araxes River between Azerbaijan and Iran. The division, a result of the Russo-Persian War (1804-1813), placed the Talyshis within two distinct political and cultural paradigms. The northern Talyshis, under the successive rule of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and Azerbaijan, were confronted with a Turkish political and cultural orientation that contrasted with their Iranian linguistic and cultural heritage. This orientation led to significant shifts in identity, with the Talyshis becoming minorities within a Turkic-speaking, Turkish-oriented Azerbaijan. Southern Talyshis who remained in Iran experienced a more consistent cultural development within the Iranian paradigm, despite political changes. This study examines the impact of these divisions on Talyshi identity, language preservation and socio-cultural adaptation. It discusses the challenges of assimilation and cultural preservation faced by the Talyshis, their linguistic characteristics, and the revival of Talysh self-awareness and nationalism in the face of external pressures. The paper uses a comprehensive analysis of historical, linguistic and ethnographic data to provide insights into the resilience of Talysh identity amidst political and cultural change.

Studies on the adaptation from face-to-face to online teaching during lockdown show the before and after in education that faces the double challenge of promoting digital skills and public access to connectivity and electronic devices in the post-COVID-19 era. Therefore, this article contributes to these new emerging lines of educational research by presenting an educational innovation project called “Teachers Versus COVID-19”. This project aimed to verify whether the figure of teacher-prosumer, that is, consumers of media culture and creators of their own educational resources, favors the initial training of teachers during the pandemic. To this end, the following objectives were proposed: firstly, test whether the figure of the teacher-prosumer contributes to improving the adaptation of face-to-face teaching to the virtual modality of the Didactics of Social Sciences in the Degree in Primary Education during lockdown; secondly, analyze the production of content on social networks by the students in the Degree in Primary Education, according to the objectives of sustainable development. To validate our teacher-prosumer proposal, we chose the design-based research (DBR) qualitative methodology. For this, 240 students from the course in Didactics of Social Sciences of the Degree in Primary Education at the University of Malaga created 37 educational videos that teach the social sciences curriculum to children between 6 and 12 years of age from the perspective of relevant social problems and the Sustainable Development Goals. These videos were disseminated through the project’s YouTube channel. The results of this study corroborate the effectiveness of turning students into teachers-prosumers, generating the development of critical, creative, digital, and socio-emotional skills so that they feel committed to playing an active role in social changes for a sustainable world.

Climate change impacts and adaptation strategies were explored through photo essays developed by community members, engaging in approaches of visual participatory action research and indigenous research approaches. The collaboration with the Andra Island community created a space for reflective dialogue about challenges posed by climate change as well as how photo essays can be used to promote Indigenous Knowledge (IK) as a viable capital for community-based adaptation (CBA). Within this context, this article demonstrates how climate change is both a natural and cultural process of change which poses socio-economic challenges. These challenges can compel people to engage in unsustainable practices that might exacerbate natural climate change impacts. The article highlights that building community capacity in participatory media can be an important tool to forge collective synergy, dialogue and ownership in local climate change initiatives. In particular, the authors demonstrate how participatory media can be harnessed to integrate indigenous knowledge in community-based climate change adaptation.

As in any organization, microenterprises owe their survival to their ability to adapt to changes in their environments. Informal microenterprises in Mali, particularly those run by women, also have to deal with the economic upheaval caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is exploratory and aims to understand the adaptation of informal microenterprises run by women in a crisis context. To do so, a multiple case analysis is conducted. The results reveal the flexibility factors of the actions undertaken by informal women entrepreneurs to face the Covid-19 crisis. The perseverance of these women and their management style based on relational skills, as well as their mastery of the culinary arts linked to their role of "expert of the kitchen" in Malian society allowed their business to adapt to the context of the crisis. In addition to these individual characteristics and socio-cultural factors, women entrepreneurs adopted strategies such as adjusting working hours and diversifying into new activities. This research contributes to the literature by highlighting the combined effect of individual factors, gender-related socio-cultural factors, and management style on microenterprise flexibility in times of crisis.

The experience of adaptation and instability to a plurality of threats that question the life of human beings on the planet, from the post-pandemic to political conflicts, up to the danger looming in the background—the upheavals expected from climate change—impose a reflection that recognizes that landscape/cultural heritage plays a key role in preservation/enhancement as a specific resource for its “human-centered development”, based on values included. These threats are challenges in which phenomena that require solidarity and common actions are faced, which should lead humans to cooperate to face them. The European Landscape Convention of 2000 attributed an important role to the landscape, as an “essential component of the life context of peoples”. The phase of listening to the territory and participatory and co-design processes are necessary tools for understanding the expectations and perceptions of the communities, co-exploring possible new uses of the landscape, being capable of generating added value for all stakeholders, and adopting a “win-win” approach. From this perspective, this contribution poses the following research question: how to build collaborative processes capable of putting local institutions, businesses, and local communities in synergy, to identify enhancement strategies for the cultural landscape? This study explores the potential of an integrated, incremental, and adaptive decision-making approach, oriented toward the elaboration of shared choices aimed at the elaboration of territorial enhancement strategies attentive to the specificity of the multiple values and complex resources that characterize the cultural terraced landscapes of the Costa Viola (Italy). In particular, the interactions between different knowledge, approaches, and tools makes it possible to formulate scenarios, strategies, and actions, contributing to the creation of a richer and more complex context of knowledge of the territory and to the construction of bottom-up and situated transformation strategies, supported from a decision-making process attentive to the identification of values and an understanding of the needs of the local ‘landscape community’ who live and animate it.

This study aims to analyze the influence of modernization on the essence of gratitude in Minahasa society. The main focus is to identify changes that occur in the practice, meaning, and social function of this ritual, as well as to explore the adaptation strategies developed by the community in maintaining tradition amidst the flow of modernization. The method used is a qualitative approach with literature review techniques. This study analyzed various sources of academic literature, including journal articles, books, and relevant research reports, published in the last 20 years. Data analysis was carried out using a thematic analysis approach to identify patterns and main themes from the literature reviewed. The results of the study indicate that modernization has brought significant changes to the Minahasa gratitude ritual, including a shift in motivation from spiritual to socio-economic, the transformation of ritual practices with the use of modern technology, changes in community participation, and the emergence of new challenges in preserving the essence of the ritual. However, the study also revealed cultural resilience, where the Minahasa community actively developed adaptation strategies to maintain the core values of the ritual while adapting to the demands of modernity. These findings provide important insights into the dynamics between tradition and modernity in the context of local culture, as well as their implications for efforts to preserve cultural heritage in the global era.

The way individuals define themselves is assumed to be tightly linked to social and cultural values of the environment they are raised in. Yet, identity is not static and forming a cultural identity requires adapting beliefs and practices of one or more cultural communities. Hence, this paper is an attempt to bring the issue of identity construction in question as a result of direct contact with people from different cultures and what it may engender as a change in social, cultural behaviour, and positions. The present study investigates the impact of study abroad experience on sojourners’ cultural identity. It tries to highlight the nature of the crossing borders experience, and how it strongly contributes to the creation of a new cultural identity. This research work relies on a case study that consists of 25 Algerian students who are actually enrolled in a long-term programme at different universities in the United Kingdom. The data were gathered through the use of both questionnaire and semi-structured interview administered to these sojourners. Then, data were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. The findings first display the competencies developed by students while abroad. Second, the study explores how cultural identity is being reconstructed and negotiated during the intercultural communication. Third, the extracts of the study reveal that the sojourners are aware of the cross-cultural adaptation process and they try to cope with the challenges they face as well as avoiding communication breakdowns and misunderstandings. As a result, we contribute to the literature concerning constructing and negotiating identities in different socio-cultural contexts. This article examines the challenges of functional adaptation faced by the police in response to technologically driven changes in the nature of crime. It also recounts how research under the auspices of a ‘dark web’ research project resulted in a search for an effective approach to engaging with investigators dealing with cybercrime. In doing so it tested, as a research methodology, a standard change implementation tool (problem tree analysis) from the Disaster Management and Sustainable Development (DMSD) discipline. This in turn resulted in significant consideration being given to the physical space in which that methodology is used. It presents the results of a workshop held with cybercrime investigators (not all were police officers) in terms of the importance of four key organisational and cultural issues (management, leadership and institutional ethos within the police; the risks of over-complication and exaggerated distinctions between cyber and real world policing; ethics; and knowledge, training and development) alongside the development and acquisition of new technical capabilities.

The concept of a multi-civilisational world, the philosophical foundations of which are set out in the new monograph of academician A. V. Smirnov «The logic of sense as a philosophy of mind» (2021). Historical experience and analysis of modern practice shows that a new multi-civilisational integrity will not work, as long as only the Western project is considered as the only possible perspective of modern civilisation, and its ideals and values are presented as a role model. At the same time, the implementation of the value orientations of the consumer society outside Europe generates new crises and contradictions, not fitting into the national and cultural characteristics of other countries. Therefore, the way out to the points of growth of a new civilisational integrity should be not found in the West at all, but should be explored in those cultures that have preserved the traditional soil under the influence of modernisation processes. The new civilisational world does not arise as a completed project; it grows out of the global dynamic chaos left over from the outgoing civilisation. The catalysts of civilisational changes on the way to a new integrity are values that carry changes in life meanings under the influence of social life. New risks and challenges faced by countries require timely and adequate changes. Recently, the world has faced global instability, adaptation to which has become a motive for the transition to a new model of civilisational development.

Cardamom plantation is one of the most lucrative commercial farming, especially in southern parts of Bhutan. Cardamom is their main source of income generation. However, the production of cardamom has declined over the past years and farmers claimed that climate change is the main reason. Climate change is a global phenomenon that has far-reaching implications for agriculture, particularly in regions characterized by their sensitivity to climatic variability and Bhutan is no exception. Nevertheless, it is unclear how climate change has affected cardamom production. Therefore, it has become necessary to study how climate change hampers the production of cardamom. The aim of this study is to explore the impact of climate change on the production of cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) in one of the Chiwogs, under Samtse Dzongkhag. Farmers of this Chiwog mainly depend on cardamom for their livelihood and it is the backbone of their livelihood. To understand the impact of climate change on cardamom growers, the study has adopted a mixed method as a research approach. The study reveals that local farmers are already experiencing the consequences of climate change like erratic temperatures and rainfall declining the yield of cardamom. The increasing number of pests and disease outbreaks in cultivated land are creating challenges for the farmers depending on cardamom for living. Adaptive measures, such as altering planting and harvesting schedules and introducing new cardamom varieties resilient to changing conditions, are essential for mitigating these impacts. Furthermore, community- based efforts, enhanced access to climate information, and support from relevant agencies are necessary to International Journal of Scientific Research in Engineering and Management (IJSREM) Volume: 07 Issue: 12 | December - 2023 SJIF Rating: 8.176 ISSN: 2582-3930 © 2023, IJSREM | www.ijsrem.com DOI: 10.55041/IJSREM27392 | Page 2 ensure the long-term sustainability of cardamom production in the region. The study highlights the urgent need for proactive climate adaptation strategies and underscores the importance of a comprehensive understanding of climate change impacts on agricultural systems, especially in vulnerable regions. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and local communities to foster resilience and sustainable cardamom production in the face of a changing climate. Keywords: climate change, cardamom production, climate adaptation, pest and diseases, socio-economic impacts. Introduction Large cardamom growers have recently encountered several difficulties maintaining production, especially because of pests and diseases, the effects of climate change, and fluctuating market prices. Climate change is the main factor that leads to a decline in cardamom production in Bhutan. Cardamom farming is becoming a less reliable source of income for mountain communities due to climate change and its effects (Gurung, 2017). The study by Ghalley (2018) concluded that the crop is being destroyed by blight, and farmers are suffering because of poor production. Farmers have been observing blight infestations on their plants for more than three years. Farmers assert that their crop has been affected by four different diseases. After the roots rot, the leaves aresaid to dry. A disease that is known as "Furkey" locally has also become a common reason for reduced yield. Farmers agree that pests and diseases are spreading at a faster rate due to changes in climatic patterns. Farmer who grows cardamom in large scale said that the harvest is so low they do not have enough to sell (Ghalley, 2018). According to Rijal and Rabyal (2020) in 2016 cardamom production was 2736 tons and drop to 2245 tons in 2017. A study by Jamtsho et al. (2020) in Pemagatsel Dzongkhag also reveals that water is essential to both the overall quality and the yieldof cardamom, too much water reduces both the yield and the production. Excessive moisture in the soil mass has the tendency to rot the plant's roots and lower stem, weakening it over time and making it more susceptible to fungus pests and diseases, which reduces the output. The commercial lifespan of large cardamom was lowered by seven to eight years because of climate change (Vijayan et al., 2014). Similarly in Nepal, the production of large cardamom has declined because of climate change (Rijal, 2013). This is an indication that there is an issue with cardamom plantations and production dueto climate change. During interviews with local leaders and field visits, the researcher found a similar situation. To better understand the issues, the researcher believes that proper study is required. In the absence of evidence- based research or scholarly works, no proper planning can be made to address this in the future. Thus, it has become necessary for educatorsto do in-depth research pertaining to the decline of cardamom production due to climate change. It is hoped that the knowledge that emerged from this study would fill this knowledge gapand point out some possible strategies for improving cardamom plantations and production for better economic income.

Dementia remains an underdiagnosed syndrome, and there is a need to improve the early detection of cognitive decline. This narrative review examines the role of neuropsychological assessment in the characterization of cognitive changes associated with dementia syndrome at different states. The first section describes the early indicators of cognitive decline and the major barriers to their identification. Further, the optimal cognitive screening conditions and the most widely accepted tests are described. The second section analyzes the main differences in cognitive performance between Alzheimer’s disease and other subtypes of dementia. Finally, the current challenges of neuropsychological assessment in aging/dementia and future approaches are discussed. Essentially, we find that current research is beginning to uncover early cognitive changes that precede dementia, while continuing to improve and refine the differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders that cause dementia. However, neuropsychology faces several barriers, including the cultural diversity of the populations, a limited implementation in public health systems, and the adaptation to technological advances. Nowadays, neuropsychological assessment plays a fundamental role in characterizing cognitive decline in the different stages of dementia, but more efforts are needed to develop harmonized procedures that facilitate its use in different clinical contexts and research protocols.
