Abstract The article highlights some results of scientific work conducted by the Institute of Architecture and Design of Lviv Polytechnic National University, Department of Fine Arts and Design, Ternopil Pedagogical University, Department of Design Architectural Environment Lviv National Agrarian University and Art TheoryVasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.Scientists study the art of temple building on the territory of Ukraine. The analysis was conducted based on reliable sources - archival, publications of leading scientists, their own field research. The method of field inspections included visual inspection of sacred complexes, architectural measurements, photography, sketches, etc. The aim of the scientific work is to study the genesis of the architectural and constructive creation of the sacral dome space through the tradition of Ukrainian shrines and the development of modern trends in temple building. Tradition is one of the most important components and means of creating Ukrainian church architecture. It is an expression of national features and characteristics, its identification. The most canonical type of Ukrainian churches is the cross-domes churches, which is associated with the adoption of Christianity. This tradition is closely connected with the liturgical process and is based on a combination of Eastern and Western building traditions. In figurative and compositional expression, the dome is dominant, and tectonic accent. The architecture of dome temples depends on the capabilities of structures and building materials, which are important factors in the formation process. The authors explore the traditional ways of erecting cross-dome temples on the territory of Ukraine, which are indicative and expressive features of Ukrainian temples. An important group of dome temples are buildings created in the modern period, when architects were looking for signs of Ukrainian national style. Particularly valuable is research related to the construction of neoukrainian traditional and neoteric temples designed by Ukrainian architects. Their planning and spatial decisions directly depend on new construction materials and design solutions. Some temples are described, which are an example of innovation, but at the same time are based on national traditions. Thus, the article examines the genesis of the creation and architecture of the Ukrainian cross-domed temples. Defined peculiarities of the search for national features and identification in the Ukrainian temple building in the interwar period was determined. Highlighted contribution of modern architects and designers to the process of revival of temple building in Ukraine.

Khreschatyk is a page apart in the history of world architecture. While it has a number of distinct characteristics of totalitarian architecture, Khreschatyk is the only architectural ensemble of the period to combine na-tional tradition with the exalted sentiment of Soviet architecture of the Stalin era. Also, it uniquely matched architecture and landscape. The façades has elements of Ukrainian baroque, which sets Khreschatyk apart from similar ensembles of the 1940s-1950s in other countries that mainly drew upon Ne-oclassicism or Modernism. While period architecture in other countries is typically marked by its grand scale and heavily accentuated civic spirit – complete with a denigration of the individual at the expense of the manifest greatness of Authority, Khreschatyk stand out for its pronounced harmony as an environment based on the careful preservation of old heritage, the skill-ful use of the landscape, and the introduction of traditional motifs, alongside an almost total lack of Soviet symbols. Unlike the grim grandness of totali-tarian architecture in other countries, the facades of the residential buildings that line Khreschatyk emanate joie de vivre and admiration for the fertility of Ukrainian soil.

The Ukrainian terminological system of architecture is a definitely organised, historically caused, communicative system of elements which functions, constantly changing internal and external communication at different levels of consistency. The terminological fund of representation of architecture knowledge demands settlement, therefore its research gets a special relevance. The national terminological system of architecture changes and updates constantly, because there are new concepts which are necessary to name, and there are new terms accordingly. Despite it, there is no clearness in formulation of definitions even for key concepts in this area of human activity, the choice of use and systematization of certain terminological units is not always successful, and synonymy of terms is actively used for base standard documents, the scientific special literature, lexicographic editions on architecture. Architecture terminology is a considerable layer of the Ukrainian terminological system with inherent common features for a system (presence of system elements, system signs, the criteria which are inherent for a system) and original Characteristics (specificity of concepts and terms’ relations, the special thematic and structural organisation which is the basis for allocation of architecture terminological system and allocates features of the language system organisation of(word-formation, grammatical, lexical). Elements of architectural terminological system form systems of objective realities, systems of terms, systems of corresponding concepts, systems of definitions of these concepts. When these systems function, they limit architectural terminology. It is very important to understand architectural terminology not simply as the mechanical sum of corresponding terminological units, terms and terminological word combinations, and accurate terminological system which has certain logic communications between its elements, structural components. There is a direct or indirect communication between terms which limits terminological system of architecture. Constant development and increase in quantity of terminological units, quantitative and qualitative changes of terms which unite in terminological system, define limitlessness of modern Ukrainian architecture terminological system. Exploring the practical problems of education terms and problems of architectural terms’ standardization the professional norm is fixed in the special literature (educational, methodical, statutory acts, state standards, scientific articles). Not always dictionaries in standard terminology consider professional terminological norm. The modern Ukrainian terminological fund of architecture makes specific, quantitatively big and qualitatively various layer of terminological lexicon in the typological characteristic of system. Architecture terminology is a component of Ukrainian terminological system with characteristic common features for system both the especial thematic and structural organisation which has differences in the language organisation of system.

The article presents the results of the author's study of the formation of national identity in public spaces by means of landscape architecture. It has been presented that public spaces are separated on democratic and totalitarian by the socio-political factor. The most expressive about the manifestation or change of national identity is the urban environment of important public spaces, that are centers of popular assemblies, demonstrations and other collective events. Based on the theoretical analysis of the development of the Ukrainians, the main aspects of the manifestation of national identity in the public spaces are democracy and sacredness. It means giving democratic features to public spaces and creation memorable places. The key symbol of Ukrainian identification – is vegetation as an image of the infinity of life, the strength of the spirit and love for the Motherland. Additionally, in the article, is analyzed intercultural and instinctive perception of landscape scenes. These features correspond to the deep foundations of human perception of the environment: natural forms; zoning; semi-closed space; the presence of greenery and water. The internal filling of space should be carried out taking into account comfort and safety, but with a bias towards national motives. In particular, we have identified such features of the Ukrainian landscape style as: zoning and monoculture; the presence of a stalls and front gardens; abundant autochthonous gardening; and sacred elements of improvement. The newly created concept of an identical space device should be fixed in a special document - the design code of the buffer zone. The design code should contain detailed characteristics regarding the improvement of the buffer zone. The formation of national identity in the public spaces of buffer zones of cultural heritage monuments will contribute to the implementation of safety and security functions without violating the traditional nature of the historical environment.

The article aims to broaden the theoretical and methodological foundations and scientific substantiation of approaches to improving the efficiency of institutional structure of the budget system Ukraine on the basis of high-quality institutional support for its formation and functioning. This study is based on systemic and evolutionary approaches that provide a comprehensive understanding of the institutional structure of the budget system. The institutional architecture improvement requires identifying various characteristics, direct relations and feedback as well as dependencies that arise in the formation of budget policy of Ukraine. The study deals with appraisal of the degree of perfection of the architecture influence on and institutional order, the budget process and the budget system efficiency. The practical importance is determined by the fact that theoretical and methodological provisions, conclusions and practical recommendations make the scientific basis for developing a new holistic concept of forming the institutional order of the budget system in terms of its decentralization. The analysis shows that the degree of perfection of the architecture and institutional architecture of the budget system significantly affects the efficiency of the budget process. It changes the philosophy of public finance management and creates incentives for dominance in the public choice of the Putnam group (those who care about public needs) rather than Olson (those who think primarily about their own needs). The study has noted some problems of control over the budget funds use depending on the society maturity. Conclusions on the ability of the budget system perfect architecture and institutional order to direct the potential of inclusive markets to welfare improvement, to implement innovations and invest them in people requires the state to consider them critical to economic growth and nation's wealth. The budget system must be organically integrated into the overall system of governance and be fully accountable and transparent in the new institutional order with inclusive economic and political institutions. The level of literary research on the geneological characteristics of the 21st century, marked by the expansion of the traditional genre system, has noticeably intensified. The purpose of the article is to consider the Ukrainian novel in the poems of the 21st century, to determine its genre originality (author’s and reader’s) as an important regulator of aesthetic communication. The object of research is the texts of novels in verse, prefaces to them, comments of authors and critics regarding the creation of texts and genre modification. Ukrainian novel in poems of the 21st c. is characterized by the analysis of narrative structures, a set of ideas, concepts aimed at highlighting the cultural and historical heritage of the past through its multiple reading by the recipient. Emphasis is placed on the author's (textual) and classification (reader’s) mode of their creation, which makes it possible to clarify the historical and theoretical dynamics of textual traditions, the history of writing, is the key to communicative influence on the reader, perception of the paradigm of the genre. The plots of Ukrainian novels in verse are presented in accordance with the principles of the postmodern era with a radical rethinking of aesthetic, spiritual, philosophical foundations of human existence and a new concept of worldview, focused on personal experiences of socio-cultural challenges, mental breakdowns and political crises. The study examines Ukrainian novels in poetry of the 21st century by L. Horlach, A. Hudyma, I. Kozak, V. Marsyuk, R. Pаstuch, I. Pavlyuk, O. Omelchenko, M. Tіutіunnyk und А. Shkulipa, who created the following genre varieties, were considered: historical novel in verse, historical poetry novel, novel-song, novel-meditation in poetry, satirical, grotesque novel in verse, virtual novel, autobiographical novel in poetry, whimsical novel in verse, historical-philosophical-fantasy novel-essay, lyrical novel in verse, novel-trilogy in verse, a lyrical-musical novel in verse. In these novel structures, the past and the present are mutually projected onto the future, spiritually constructing it, forming moral and ethical norms, canons of national consciousness. Thus, emphasizing the genre modification of the modern Ukrainian novel in verse, various examples of its genre varieties, we took into account the author’s and reader’s genre definition, because the structural isolation and semantic definition of the genre are related to the author’s origin, looseness and devotion – with the reader. This does not mean that the creative design of the text is localized in the sphere of the author, and the semantic life after the design belongs to the sphere of the reader. Ukrainian novels in the poems of the 21st century are designed for the real world; they are carriers of aesthetic comprehension of national identity, new landmarks in space human / world with a wide range of significant events, cultural types, internal image-structural and compositional-poetic organization, genre-style and genre-content diversity, which requires further, more thorough research.

Brief service andcreative characteristics of teachers for the entire period of the COURSES. By the way, a unique photo of the newbuilding of V.K. Korobochkin's Ekaterinoslav Technical Courses was added to the article, preserved in the author'sarchive, but it was built under the direction of I.M. Truba, according to his project and estimate. Its facade is described. The significance of V.K. Korobochkin’s Ekaterinoslav Technical Courses for the whole of the Dnieper, as the embryoof all technical universities, and later the National University, is given, the advantage of the Courses in this sense isproved. This is documented. In exile, I. M. Truba continues educational and pedagogical activities for the benefit of theMotherland − translates into Ukrainian, highly moral, in the educational sense, fairy tales by European authors, publishes them and sends them to Ukrainian schools. Corresponds with his children to Dnіpropetrovsk, givesinstructions. As an example of his drawing skills, he cites drawings, in 3D-style pencil, of the corners of his homes inexile. Mention is made of his entrance examinations at the Higher School in St. Petersburg, including the Academy ofArts. He also works at Florinsdorfen Lokomotivfabrik and at the architectural and construction company Hestia. Since1924, when he was invited to Czechoslovakia, he has been working as a lecturer at the Ukrainian Academy ofEconomics at the Faculty of Agriculture in Podebrady , reads courses on machine parts, and Resistance materialsaccording to his own textbook, which he compiled in Ukrainian and published at the Academy. On the recommendationof an engineer, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Rector of the Higher Technical University in Prague, Professor ZdenekBazant [20], in 1929 Ivan Mikhailovich Truba was hired as a design engineer and general consultant in the bridge andiron production department of the Skoda Plant. In the city Pilsen. Documents testify to his highly skilled engineeringand creative activity. The list of types of constructive projects executed by I.M. Truba at the enterprise and implementedis given. The chronology in the field of creativity, the era of the Central Council and emigration has been clarified, hisscientific publications and pedagogical and creative activity as a scientist have been added The purpose of the article isto supplement the monograph on the life and work of I.M. Truba and its surroundings. Conclusions. It is known thatduring the Bolshevik rule, in his homeland, Ivan Mikhailovich was considered an enemy of the people (which was notspecified) "as a Ukrainian bourgeois nationalist". Therefore, all his activities were subjected to political anathema.Researched and analyzed archival materials, on the basis of which the conclusion is given − the significance ofI.M. Truba is covered as a person, a citizen − a patriot, namely: the UKRAINIAN PEOPLE. Ivan Mikhailovich'sactivity during his lifetime was distinguished by its versatility, namely: pedagogy, education, political, cultural andsocial activities, national patriotism, writing, architectural construction and scientific creativity.

The article reveals the peculiarities of the coverage of the architectural heritage in Ukraine from the historiographical point of view. The theoretical basis of the paper is the work of national and foreign culturologists, urban planners, geourbanists etc. During the twentieth century the thematic sphere of research of the city as a cultural phenomenon has significantly expanded. If in the XIX century the analysis of the urban way of life (both in the city and in the suburbs) was conducted in general from an economic standpoint, in the last century urban culture has been considered in terms of administrative and economic arrangement, synthesis of social and natural sciences, population of the city center and suburbs. The literature argues that the architectural forms, structures and decorative plasticity of buildings and structures of the centers of modern Ukrainian cities, belonging to the same functional type, can be different depending on the chronological and geographical parameters. Within one functional type, there are can exist different types of architectural form. The architectural form of a building is formed as a set of certain characteristics, depending on the functional program, materials and structures, which can be classified by type, having previously agreed on their terminological characteristics.

One of the characteristic features of modern Ukrainian literature is its innovative exploration at all levels such as genre-thematic, linguistic-stylistic, etc. The subject of this scientific investigation is an experimental project (family saga, novel in short stories) «DNК», the authors of which are seven original but different authors – Sergei Zhadan, Yuri Vynnychuk, Irena Karpa, Fozzy, Andrei Kokotyukha, Vladimir Rafaenko and Max Kidruk. The object of our study is the genre-style and ideological-thematic characteristics of each novel and their ideological and semantic integrity. Given the idiosyncrasy of each of the authors, we made a figurative analysis of the characters which includes their worldview, behavior, dreams and language. In the course of the research we can state that the chronotope of events, language, stylistic and genre peculiarities are all aimed at comprehensive disclosure of the life of Ukraine and Ukrainians at the peaks of history. It is the anthropological principle of analysis of these works that should be the starting point today and now, when not only our country, but humanity in general is in a situation of humanitarian catastrophe. The problem of all times and peoples is the unwillingness to listen to the artistic word, to the efforts of artists (intuitive, subconscious, and sometimes specifically oriented) to force their contemporaries to think about specific values and priorities, personal and national, taking into account the experience of past generations. We are convinced that the emergence of «DNК» is due to such a specific existential need, that is, the need for ueverybody to rethink the lessons of history with the necessary conclusions.

The article analyzes the hierarchy of fundamental world recreational and tourist resources. The qualitative-quantitative characteristics, the spatial distribution of UNESCO objects and the systematized data are presented. The structure of the UNESCO World Heritage sites is analyzed. Created schematic map of the structure and territorial distribution of UNESCO World Heritage sites in Ukraine. The advantages obtained by states when making their objects to the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites are established. It is indicated that it contributes to the organization of monitoring and control of the state of conservation of natural and cultural objects. It is emphasized that UNESCO objects fall into the tourist guides of the world, and hence to the proposed routes of travel agencies. The factors that determine the presence of UNESCO objects in the country were analyzed. The geographic distribution of UNESCO World Heritage sites in the world and Ukraine is analyzed. The geographical distribution of the objects “Seven Wonders of Ukraine”, which were selected during the all-Ukrainian contest, was highlighted. An analysis of UNESCO World Heritage sites in Ukraine was conducted, their preliminary list. The attention is focused on the fact that the entry into the national list of intangible heritage in Ukraine is a necessary step for the objects to obtain the status of the “intangible heritage of UNESCO. The objects, which are included in the national list of intangible heritage in Ukraine, are analyzed. The map “The most significant recreational and tourist resources of Ukraine” was developed. It is noted that four of the seven Ukrainian objects of the UNESCO World Heritage Site are entirely within the territory of Ukraine. The remaining 3 objects are partly in the territory of other states. It was indicated that during the time of cooperation with the Organization Ukraine initiated many international programs and projects. Seven Ukrainian cultural-architectural and natural objects are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is noted that the large volume of quantitative and qualitative data obtained when selecting UNESCO objects contributes to the formation of informed cultural policies and the integration of culture in the development strategy, thereby contributing to the implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The analysis made it possible to establish that the largest number of UNESCO World Heritage sites is concentrated in the European macroregion, thus Ukrainian entities that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage have to withstand significant competition in attracting international tourist flows. It is stated that the Asian market has the world’s largest tourism industry, and the number of objects of the World Heritage is second only to Europe.

Dispersed recreation management is a form of management that has emerged over the past century of outdoor recreation management on public lands in the United States. Techniques used in dispersed recreation management seek to disperse recreation use, recreational areas, and their impacts across landscapes and ecosystems or to concentrate such use to areas that remain undeveloped. This study is a mixed-methods, descriptive study of dispersed recreation management on national forest lands. In particular, this study focuses on United States Forest Service (USFS) management Concentrated Use Areas (CUAs) on Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest (UWCNF), as identified in the 2003 Revised Forest Plan of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. A qualitative approach of inventorying past management actions, observing CUAs, and interviewing recreation managers and resource specialists on the UWCNF was used. The qualitative aspects of this study were also coupled with a quantitative analysis of Geographic Positioning System (GPS) based data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to better understand characteristics of CUAs and their management in dispersed recreation settings. Overall, this study draws many conclusions involving the definition of, and management and design solutions for CUAs. CUAs can be described as easily accessible, flat areas adjacent to roads, with good access to water, and shade. These areas are often used for camping of various types, with trailers and groups being a predominant use. ATVs and motorized use are also associated with these areas. Use is generally considered high and continual during the summer season, with sites often being used year after year by families and groups of friends. Loss of vegetation, soil compaction, and soil erosion are common impacts attributed to concentrated recreational use. Another finding was that recreation resource managers and resource specialists have similar views of what CUAs are and how they are managed. Management actions generally consist of both indirect and direct management actions focused on limiting environmental impacts caused by recreation uses. Management actions are conducted on both large and small scales within districts, and dispersed recreation protocol was found that called on management to reduce biophysical impacts. However, management techniques lack official targets and metrics for measuring the success of management. Design is also a component of CUA management. The design of CUAs generally consists of adapting user-created recreation areas into more structured and defined areas.

Our research relates to the history of the reconstruction of Xreščatyk, the main avenue of Kiev, during the first decade which follows the Second world war under several approaches: ideological and economic context in which is the USSR at the time; the state policy in the field of architecture and its impact on the modeling of the architectural forms, materials and building techniques, the organization of the architectural activity, the practical application of the theory of the synthesis of arts, the role of green spaces in the urban planning. We study the various stages of the development and the realization of this major architectural project as a result of the interaction between the social sponsor and the architects. We analyze the architectural concept of Xreščatyk like the adaptation of the national artistic tradition to the context of the Soviet Ukraine of post-war period. Despite the ideological importance of rebuilding the main avenue of the Ukrainian capital, as a symbol of the triumph of communism over nazism, everything is not subordinate to politics in this gigantic building site. The dedication and personal ideas of the authors of the project play a certain role on the one hand and economic realities dictate a number of choices on the other. This work highlights the gap between the ambitious projects of the architectural competition and the final realization, analyzes the mechanisms of adjustment of the project to the real needs of the city

Furniture history is often considered a niche subject removed from the main discipline of art history, and one that has little to do with the output of painters, sculptors and architects. This thesis, however, connects the key intellectual, artistic and architectural debates surfacing in 'the arts' between 1740 and 1840 with the design of British furniture. Despite the expanding corpus of scholarly monographs and articles dealing with individual cabinet-makers, furniture making in geographic areas and periods of time, little attention has been paid to exploring Gothic furniture made between 1740 and 1840. Indeed, no body of research on 'mainstream' Gothic furniture made at this time has been published. No sustained attempt has been made to trace its stylistic evolution, establish stylistic phases, or to place this development within the context of contemporary architectural practice and historiography — except for the study of A.W.N. Pugin's 'Reformed Gothic'. Neither have furniture historians been willing to explore the aesthetic's connection with the intellectual and sentimental position of 'the Gothic' in the period. This thesis addresses these shortcomings and is the first to bridge the historiographic, cultural and architectural concerns of the time with the stylistic, constructional and material characteristics of Gothic furniture. It argues that it, like architecture, was charged with social and political meanings that included national identity in the eighteenth century — around a century before Charles Barry and A.W.N. Pugin designed the Palace of Westminster and prominently associated the Gothic legacy with Britishness.

This project involves two major components: research on the importance of heritage education and a five-lesson unit prepared to introduce fourth-grade students in Muncie to the history and architectural heritage of the area. The research revealed the fact that there are many concepts of heritage education ranging from ideas that involve only architecture to schemes that involve all aspects of culture. This thesis argues that the built environment, along with its cultural history, needs to be taught in the schools so that children at an early age may learn to appreciate their historic legacy. The unit of five lessons on heritage education was presented to two Muncie fourth-grade classes. The unit provided a guide for the students to examine the history and architecture of Muncie, Indiana. At the end of the unit, the students were tested to see what they had retained.

In 1879 the British Colony of New South Wales hosted the first international exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere. This was immediately followed by the Melbourne International Exhibition of 1880 in the colony of Victoria and the success of these exhibitions inspired the Melbourne Centennial Exhibition, which was held in 1888 to celebrate the centenary of white settlement in Australia. My thesis is that these international exhibitions had a profound impact on the development of our cities, the evolution of an Australian ethos and the gaining of nationhood. The immense popularity and comprehensive nature of the exhibitions made them the only major events in late nineteenth-century Australia that brought the people together in an almost universally shared experience. The exhibitions conveyed official ideologies from the organising elites to ordinary people and encouraged the dissemination of new cultural sentiments, political aspirations, and moral and educational ideals. Many exhibition commissioners, official observers and ideologues were also predominantly involved in the Federation movement and the wider cultural sphere. The international exhibitions assisted the development of an Australian urban ethos, which to a large extent replaced the older pastoral / frontier image. Many of the more enduring ideas emanating from the exhibitions were physically expressed in the consequent development of our cities ??? particularly Sydney and Melbourne, both of which had achieved metropolitan status and global significance by the end of the nineteenth century. The new urban ethos, dramatically triggered by Sydney 1879, combined with and strengthened the national aspirations and sentiments of the Federation movement. Thus the exhibitions created an immediate connection between colonial pride in urban development and European and American ideals of nation building. They also created an increasing cultural sophistication and a growing involvement in social movements and political associations at the national level. The international exhibitions, more than any other single event, convinced the colonials that they were all Australians together and that their destiny was to be united as one nation. At that time, Australians began to think about national objectives. The exhibitions not only promulgated national sentiment and a new ethos, but also provided opportunities for independent colonial initiatives, inter-colonial cooperation and a more equal position in the imperial alliance. Thus they became a powerful impetus, hitherto unrecognised, for the complex of social, political and economic developments that made Federation possible.

AbstractA country or a city is largely characterized by its architecture and urbanism. A robust understanding of the characteristics of the existing building stock provides a more solid basis for the development of European or national policies. In this chapter, we propose indicators to measure the general characteristics of the buildings at the national and regional levels, using as case studies Spain and two of its regions, Aragon and the Basque Country. Given there is no official definition of what the general characteristics of a building are, in this chapter we propose the general characteristics of a building whose knowledge can allow to lay the foundations for its improvement. We also studied the sources of information available in Spain and in the two mentioned regions for the development of these indicators and developed them when there were available data. Out of the fourteen proposed indicators, five could be fully developed, eight were partially developed, and one could not be developed due to lack of data.

AbstractThe decarbonization objectives outlined by Europe, coupled with the aging of existing buildings, underscore the importance of evaluating the evolution of energy characteristics of the building stock at both national and regional levels. To facilitate this evaluation in Spain, along with its regions Aragon and the Basque Country, a set of indicators is suggested in this chapter. These indicators aim to offer insights into the evolution of annual final energy consumption by building type and per end use. Additionally, the Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are put forth as valuable indicators, with a focus on the number and energy class derived from these certificates. In the case of the former indicators, Spain benefits from both national and regional data sources, although enhancements are possible through improved data processing techniques and the extraction of information based on building characteristics. As for EPCs, it is recommended that the information provided by regions undergo a standardization process to ensure a more comprehensive development of the indicators. Furthermore, an additional proposed indicator involves the measurement of the quantity and surface area of nearly zero-energy buildings (nZEB). Unfortunately, the current lack of national or regional sources hampers the development of this particular indicator.

AbstractThe European Commission has initiated efforts to establish indicator frameworks for monitoring building renovation policies and the decarbonization progress of the building stock, to be developed by EU Member States. The chapter suggests that the use of emerging technologies can improve the quality and availability of data for this purpose, focusing on two specific technologies whose potential is explored for the case of Spain. These technologies are, on one hand, georeferencing and automated cross-referencing of existing data, and, on the other, the Digital Building Logbook (DBL). The results of the study show that georeferencing and automated cross-referencing applications include calculating solar potential and estimating energy production, consumption, and emissions using Urban Energy Models (UBEMs). The UBEM, applied to Spain, enables the collection of previously unavailable indicators, improving data availability and quality mainly in the subjects of ‘An overview of the general characteristics of the national building stock’ and ‘An overview of the energy characteristics of the national building stock’. Examining the feasibility of collecting indicators through the DBL indicates that close to 69% of all necessary indicators for monitoring building renovation policies can be obtained. However, challenges in realizing DBL's full potential involve undefined tool models, owner awareness, funding uncertainties, regulatory alignment, and technical hurdles for large-scale implementation.

Abstract More than 3,000 years old, Beijing has been the national capital of China for over 800 years. During the late period of Chinese feudalism, Beijing was the cultural and political centre of five dynasties-Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing. The unique culture and architecture of ancient Beijing had many striking characteristics. The city was constantly transformed under each dynasty out of clements from previous regimes. It also attracted numerous ethnic groups and absorbed elements from various nationalities, while at the same time sustaining characteristics of the dominant Han Chinese culture (Hou and Jin 1982). Under strong support from the national state, present-day Beijing has maintained many major traditional characteristics.

An important area of contemporary linguistic research concerns language as a reflection of national mentality, worldview, and culture, with specific focus on the consideration of linguistic and cultural categories in non-related languages. The study's object is the precedent phenomena (PP) present in both English and Ukrainian languages, and the research subject is the process of PP transitioning into the phraseological resources of both languages. The purpose of the research is to analyse the ways of transition of the PP (precedent name, situation and statement) into the phraseological fund of the English and Ukrainian languages. The resolution of a research problem dictates the presentation logic of the studied material within the paper. The aims of this study include defining a precedent phenomenon, outlining and detailing the stages of PP transition into phraseological funds of the English and Ukrainian languages, and exposing the specifics of precedent phenomena phraseologicalisation with regards to structural differences. The study methodology is grounded in the descriptive, transformational analysis, component analysis, and comparative methods. These are employed to distinguish between the universal and national precedent names, and to identify similarities and differences in the mechanism by which the PP transitions into the phraseological funds of the English and Ukrainian languages. The analysis of phraseological units with a precedent component indicates that prevalent precedent phenomena originating from mythological, biblical, ancient texts, and prior occurrences are primarily phraseologized, forming the "universal" cognitive foundation. However, the subject of the study is nationally precedent-setting РPs (which are known to an average representative of the Anglo-American or Ukrainian linguistic community and included in the national cognitive base) as representatives of national culture. The research material presents phraseological units of the English and Ukrainian languages containing a component-precedent phenomenon, totalling 125 units (76 units in English and 49 in Ukrainian). The results of the study show that the process of transition of precedent phenomena into the phraseological fund of the language takes place in two stages. First of all, there appears a certain unit (a name, a text) that is fixed in the language and to which native speakers refer repeatedly in the future. A text or a name thus becomes an element of the cognitive base of an average representative of a given linguistic community, i.e., a precedent phenomenon. In the second stage, PP phraseologisation takes place; such a unit is included in the phraseological fund of the language, accordingly it becomes a phraseologism, while remaining a precedent phenomenon. A precedent name (PN) is an individual name associated with a famous text or precedent-setting situation. The structure of a precedent name comprises differential features (the basis of PN perception) and attributes (periphery). The meaning of a phraseological unit with a component-precedent name evolves from a differential feature that embodies the object's characteristics (personality, appearance) or becomes relevant owing to a precedent situation. A precedent situation is an "ideal" situation that took place in real life (historical precedent situation) or one that belongs to the virtual reality of man-made art. The cognitive base stores a set of differential features of a precedent situation, universal for all representatives of a given linguistic and cultural community. Minimised knowledge of a specific situation (historical or virtual), compared to the system of evaluation of ethnicity, becomes the basis for the formation of phraseological units built on the basis of precedent situations. A precedent statement is a product of speech and thought activity, an integral and self-sufficient unit that can be presented as: 1) a precedent text (or part of it), for example, children's poems, proverbs; 2) a linguistic unit (phrase, sentence) related to a precedent situation. Precedent-setting expressions are fixed in the phraseological fund by metaphorising the direct meaning and preserving knowledge about the precedent-setting phenomenon. Practical implications. The practical significance of the work is determined by the fact that the conclusions formulated as a result of the study can be used for further study of precedent phenomena, and the proposed methodology for the study of PP can be useful for the analysis of other linguistic and cultural categories. The materials of the work can be used in the courses "General Linguistics", "English Lexicology and Stylistics", "Linguistic Studies", special courses and special seminars on "Comparative Linguistics", "Intercultural Communication", as well as in lexicographic practice when compiling dictionaries of precedent phenomena. Value/оriginality. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the new theoretical positions of linguocultural studies on precedent phenomena. The characteristics of the onomastic material in phraseological funds and the problems related to the essential features of the nature of precedent phenomena have been further developed.

This chapter tackles how China challenged the broadly accepted Western norms while simultaneously capitalising on Westphalian values. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, traditional forms of self-help sovereignty re-emerged amongst the cross-state competition. Thus, cooperation and trust between various regimes have sharply dropped while fragmentation increased. The view of China is the result of an established understanding of world affairs according to Westphalian state order principles and epistemology. The chapter discusses the emergence of the notion of Eastphalian order despite its geopolitical limitations. Eastphalian and Westphalian notions reflect historical patterns, national characteristics, or idiosyncratic diffusion and borrowing. However, a hybrid perspective on both is more suited to understanding the complexities of China.

The article reviews the Bukovinian press at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The subject of the analysis is the periodicals of various nationalities (in Ukrainian, German, Romanian and Polish), promoting the ideas of national identity and the consolidation of the population in the conditions of the coexistence of many cultures. The history of journalism and printing in Bukovina covers a period of over two centuries, which consists of successive stages of rapid development, numerous transformations, and finally decay. In its long duration it contributed to the development of the multinational culture of this land; the then press and books are characterized by linguistic polyphony, there are publications in German, Ukrainian (Ruthenian, Ruthenian), Romanian, Polish and Yiddish. Numerous publishing houses and printing houses had multilingual projects to their credit, for example, it happened that one title was published simultaneously in several language versions. The Austro-Hungarian period was exceptionally favorable for such initiatives, as the empire pursued a policy of tolerance and democracy towards the peoples inhabiting its territory. The legacy of this time, although quite extensive, has not yet been fully explored. Although there are works on the history of the press and books of specific nationalities, there is still no comprehensive analysis that would include multilingual publishing production. Therefore, the main aim of the article was a statistical comparison and analysis of the multilingual Bukovinian press in the context of the growth of national identity and educational movements of national societies at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The research aims to: define the role of national and educational societies in Bukovina in the process of shaping the national identity of the local population; the selection of periodicals that acted as organs of various national and international ideas; general characteristics of the ideas, topics and types of the most famous publications in different languages in the light of their educational role. The subject and subject literature included multilingual publications from the indicated period, memories of participants in national movements, as well as research by contemporary and contemporary scientists on the history of the Bukovinian press and the general history of printing.

Integrational processes on a worldwide scale engender the interaction between the languages of the world, a phenomenon which scholars define as linguistic globalization. These processes have created the need for a common system of language communication among nations. This function has been taken up by American English. The subject of our study is the linguistic reality of modern globalization. Our goal is to investigate the interaction of global English with other language systems, as exemplified by the Ukrainian language. In our study we will examine various views with regard to global English, characterize its influence on other language systems, analyze system-internal possibilities of Ukrainian as a recipient language on the basis of language data drawn from the area of tourism, and prognosticate with regard to the functioning of English as a global language. Our study includes the following sections: “The plurality of opinions”, “A challenge to language specificity”, “Ukrainian as a recipient language”, “Prognosis”. The methods and technique of our investigation are stipulated by its goal, its tasks and the characteristics of the analyzed data: general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis; the descriptive method which enables the systematization of linguistic data, its interpretation and the making of generalizations; the technique of selection which enables the delineation of linguistic units. The material presented points to the conclusion that the national language of Ukrainians, as a recipient language, is capable of utilizing the resources of its linguistic system, simultaneously undergoing change resulting in growth of the language system due to linguistic and extra-linguistic factors. The forms of interaction of a global language with another national language can be not only constructive, but also destructive: when English words and expressions displace language-inherent units and become substituted in their place, and when the tendency grows to use anglicisms for naming not only new concepts but also well-known ones. The present time dimension of the development of the current processes of globalization is as yet not adequate to enable thorough conclusions about their influence on national language systems. Linguistic globalization cannot, therefore, be viewed from only one perspective: as exclusively negative (pessimistically) or as exclusively positive (optimistically). One must admit that at present there is no alternative to “American English” in the process of facilitating the current international communication, which leads to the formation of a new bilingual world map. In this age of globalization there is a need for nations to preserve their cultural and linguistic self-identity, since there is the danger that they may lose their language as a medium of national identity when crucial spheres of their life and activities, particularly the domain of specialized communication, become totally engulfed by a “global language”. All challenges to language resulting from modern globalization are foremost reflected within the area of terminology of each language, since it is this part of the lexicon which is most sensitive to technical and cultural change, and thus of utmost importance to human communication. Ukraine needs to develop a strategy for the further development of its national language within the modern globalized world. The Ukrainian nation should not detach itself from cultural processes of the 21st century and thus remain isolated within its own cultural and linguistic borders. Nevertheless, it is necessary to control the process of Ukraine’s entering into the globalized world.

Background: One of the main characteristics of the Ukrainian religious field is conflict between two large Orthodox Churches – Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). These Churches embrace most part of orthodox population and it makes their conflict potentially dangerous for society. The Russian invasion February 24, 2022 makes many problems for UOC because it is considered to be part of state-depending Russian Orthodox Church. As a result, many believers turned their backs on this church, and the state changed its politics toward it rather harshly. But the extent of the changes in belonging to this church remains uncertain and requires assessment. Purpose: To assess the changes in mass self-identification with Ukrainian Orthodox Church in condition of Russia-Ukraine war. Methods: The analysis of statistical data of the moving of religious community in Ukrainian religious field and analysis of data of confessional identification in national representative public opinion polls. Results: Data of public opinion polls show that on the level of identification with the UOC a significant impact was made by large-scale Russian invasion on February 24, 2022 only. Only in the polls in 2022 there was a significant decrease in the corresponding figure. However, the level of such identification has remained stable even in the situations of the Russian aggression of 2014-2021. Conclusion: Data of public opinion polls show that the large-scale Russian invasion of 2022 has significantly influenced the adherence to and the orientation of the UOC. But at the same time, assessments of such changes, which are making on the confessional identification in these surveys, may be somewhat overstated, and they should be treated with great caution, especially if you base on them a politics in such dangerous area as religion. The UOC has been facing powerful challenges for many years. These challenges have dramatically increased since February 24, 2022, but even now this Church has shown considerable sustainability and the issue of halting of its functioning remains quite conflict-prone, while the benefits from its closing seem rather doubtful. Keywords: confessional identification, confessionals changes, Russian aggression, Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Ukraine

Background. The issue of youth socialization does not lose its relevance in connection with the complexity of conditions and changes in many spheres of life in Ukrainian society. Military aggression once again proved the responsibility of socialization agents for the transfer of socio-cultural values and norms to young people, in particular, in the process of their civil socialization. It is important that they express the dominant interests and goals of our society. Purpose: to show the importance of a clear delineation of the identification space in society for the formation of a growing individual as a full member of this society. Methods: comparative analysis, generalization method, sociological data interpretation method. Results: Our observations, results of analysis, data of sociological surveys testify to the presence of civil-national consolidation. The unity of society is understood not only as unity around a common goal, but also around common values. Therefore, it is extremely important to preserve it in the future. For this purpose, the authorities have taken certain steps, in particular in the legislative field, in order to achieve national unity and consolidation of society. Conclusion. We are observing the process of clearer delineation of the identification space in Ukraine. The unity of Ukrainian society around common ideas and values allows us to put forward more defined and desirable requirements for significant characteristics in the formation of the younger generation as members of society. Keywords: identity, socialization, value orientations, values, consolidation

The article discusses the changes taking place in society (intensification of processes, digitalization, diversity of learning spaces and others) in terms of the impact on the modern system of higher education, their reflection on the personal and professional characteristics of a higher school teacher. The purpose of the study is to rethink the essence of the personal and professional portrait of a higher school teacher in an intensively changing world based on the opinion of university undergraduates. The regulatory and legal bases of the qualification characteristics of a teacher of higher education are considered. The key skills of the personal and professional portrait of a university teacher are analyzed, which make up his competence profile, determined by undergraduates of the pedagogical university. The study used a survey (questionnaire, interviewing) of undergraduates of Tomsk State Pedagogical University, the method of "verbal portrait". The systematization of the skills indicated by the undergraduates was carried out using a modern typology of competencies, from the position of which there was a distribution into the following groups: "hard skills" (basic skills determined by the requirements of professional activity), "soft skills" (basic socialization skills determined by the social situation) and "self skills" (skills of self-care, awareness of personal needs and interests). The hope is expressed that in the emerging professional standard of a teacher of an educational organization of higher education, basic socialization skills will be adopted as the "nuclear" skills of the architecture of a personal and professional portrait of a teacher of a pedagogical university (his competence profile), without which, according to undergraduates, it is impossible to carry out effective teaching activities today

The approval of the National Plan for Traditional Architecture (2014) gave a boost to the recognition of this heritage and provided a consensual methodological tool for its safeguarding. This text included a programme for the recovery of traditional construction systems and underlined the need for a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to their treatment. As a precedent in Andalusia, the Inventory of Popular Architecture (1994-1997) was a pioneering project to document these buildings and the activities they housed, highlighting the capacity of techniques, knowledge and objects to adapt to the environmental characteristics of the territory. Subsequently, the Atlas of the Intangible Heritage of Andalusia (2009-2014) collected a significant number of construction techniques and traditional trades linked to this vernacular architecture. This contribution is presented within the framework of two projects coordinated by the IAPH: LAPat, open laboratory of heritage and SIN-PAR, Innovation System for the Heritage of Rural Andalusia. Their common objective is to analyse social innovation related to architecture and traditional trades and the interaction of diverse stakeholders for their safeguarding. They both recognise the local community as the protagonist in safeguarding, enhancing these practices as an efficient response to the demographic challenge in the rural world. We will focus on three case studies: the dry stone technique in the province of Almería, the raw earth construction in Andalusia, and the artisanal production of lime in Morón de la Frontera. The ultimate aim is to strengthen the transmission of knowledge of these constructive techniques and to reveal their link with socio-territorial development.

Quality of life characteristics and priorities can change abruptly in response to any military aggression. Russia-Ukraine large-scale war is the most drastic shock not only for Ukrainian people. A qualitative literature review, comparative analysis and synthesis of studies were used to explore the questions about the role of the geographic perspective in measuring social and environmental effects of running war on different spatial levels. A number of conclusions emerged from our study: (1) As a consequence of the war, the reassessment of the geopolitical potential of Ukraine and its neighbors role in creation of extra risks or chances to improve the quality of life of the population at least in the Eastern and Central Europe became obvious; (2) Personal needs of people in wartime have been shifted to the nation level and proved an unprecedented strengthening of national cohesion of Ukrainians; (3) The breach in trading turnover and sanctions against Russia have the economic consequences in touristic, energy, agricultural markets, but also in economic geography of supplies which means shifting of the economic as well as social consequences of the war to a global scale; (4) Densely populated areas have been under the military actions or occupation, so the intensity of the impact on population becomes even greater in comparison to the influence on the territory; (5) The war has become a push-factor of migration of Ukrainians inside the country and abroad respectively which will result in the demographic situation in Ukraine and in the destination countries; (6) While urbanization was the main factor of spatial differences in quality of life in Ukraine before the war, the degree of destruction of urban and rural regions by Russian military and occupation actions which bring a range of ecological, supplying and other vital threats became much more important now. There is a definite need in further research for more close monitoring of consequences of the war applying GIS-technologies and other methods which connect socialgeographical approaches (including questionnaire surveys) with the analysis of the direct changes in the environment and living conditions during the war and afterwards.

The process of market globalization has reduced the importance of national borders and enabled banks to internationalize their operations. When performing on the foreign market, the management of the bank faces certain changes, because the domestic and foreign markets are significantly different in terms of cultural characteristics, economy systems and legal regulations. It is necessary for the bank’s management to implement a model that includes tangible and intangible assets, in order to apply an integrative and holistic approach and to look at the bank’s operations in a comprehensive way. The Balanced Scorecard model represents a modern control mechanism and consists of four perspectives: the financial perspective, the customer perspective, the perspective of internal business processes and the learning and growth perspective. Each perspective contains a large number of business indicators, which help the bank’s management when formulating and implementing a business strategy, which should enable successful and profitable business. The aim of the paper is to define and list the most significant features of the Balanced Scorecard model, as well as to connect the perspective of learning and growth with the financial perspective, where the impact of the skills and competencies of employees, represented by the intellectual capital (VAIC) and the bank’s human capital (HCE) on some of the most important financial indicators, the rate of return on total invested assets (ROA) and the rate of return on total invested capital (ROE). Also, the emphasis will be on connecting the perspective of internal business processes with the perspective of customers, and for these purposes, and empirical survey was conducted using the survey method on the territory of the Republic of Serbia. A total of 218 respondents who are clients of certain banks took part in the survey and based on their answers, it is determined which are the most important determinants of electronic banking that affect client satisfaction. Due to the Ukrainian crisis, social unrest and instability of the financial market, the Balanced Scorecard model can be good solution for controlling the operations of banks, while due to the Covid-19 virus pandemic, electronic banking is gaining importance because it allows performing electronic transactions from home. Based on the above, the research takes into account current global developments and offers important practical implications for banking service providers.

In this blog entry, the author continues looking into the effects of the war against Ukraine on its minority communities, by highlighting the cases of two minorities with traditional residence areas in the western part of the country - ethnic Romanians and Hungarians. The author concludes that both minorities, either through the engagement of their civil society, religious, and educational institutions or individuals, have become a well-integrated part of an overall civil society architecture in western Ukraine emerging during the war. Moreover, all-Ukrainian civic identity features prominently in relation to both communities.

It has been recommended to use for this substantiated set of relative performance indexes which are duplicated in aggregate statistical state surveys based on the enterprise’s financial statements. It has been formed the recommendations for the investment priorities of food industry development in Ukraine which are based on the appropriate calculations made by the TOPSIS and CRITIC methods. Methods of economic-statistical and comparative analysis were used for structural and dynamic characteristics of the Ukraine industrial enterprises activities. Given that innovation processes should also cover small and medium-sized industrial enterprises, whose resource opportunities are mostly limited, it is proposed to expand them within the framework of a strategic partnership. Graphic modeling methods have been used to visualize the process of building the business structures resource potential on the basis of their strategic partnership. The influence of the motivational environment on the value of organizational relations within the partnership has been formalized.
