The purpose of the study is to examine the characteristics of Russian architecture of the 18th–the first third of the 19th century in the context of the dialectical nature of the philosophical and aesthetic views of the Russian Enlightenment era. The study of philosophical and aesthetic sources of the origin of the Russian national style in architecture during the 18th–the first third of the 19th century is relevant in the time of postmodernism with its stylistic diversity and desire to develop the national component of Russian architecture. In the process of the study the dialectical approach was used, on the basis of which philosophical and aesthetic views and works of architecture are examined from the position of the principle of dialectical contradiction. The dialectical duality of the philosophical and aesthetic views of the Russian Enlightenment was expressed in the union of opposites of the universal and the individual, in emphasizing the importance of the national component in art, which was reflected in the Russian architecture of the 18th – the first third of the 19th centuries, in which were combined the universal stylistic characteristics of baroque and classicism and traditional original national features.

The article examines the problems of preserving and reviving historical and national traditions in the architecture of the rural dwelling of ethnic groups of the Russian-Kazakh border. The relevance of the study is due to the world processes of globalization, the growth of the population of cities and the gradual loss of unique objects of material culture in rural areas. The purpose of the study is to identify the space-planning, architectural and artistic features of rural dwellings of the Russian, Kazakh, Tatar and Bashkir peoples of the Russian-Kazakhstan borderland. The following methods were applied in scientific work: full-scale observations of existing buildings and structures on the studied territory, study of the natural climatic and landscape characteristics of the area, a comparative analysis of the established types of housing of ethnic groups. Within the framework of the study, architectural and artistic solutions of facades of traditional dwellings of different peoples, the peculiarities of the organization of interior spaces, their compositional and coloristic solution were considered and the relationship of historically established techniques with modern methods of building residential buildings of the rural population of the region was traced. As a result of the study, it was concluded that there is a partial loss of identity, smoothing out national features in the volumetric-planning and architectural-artistic solution of the dwelling of ethnic groups in the studied territory. At the same time, the preservation and revival of national features will help not only enrich the architecture of rural dwelling, but will also contribute to increasing tourist interest and the development of ethnocultural tourism in the Russian-Kazakh borderland.

The matrix structure and functional connections of the individual’s and people’s mentality components are presented, indicators of the mentality manifestation and evaluation are disclosed, such as: archetypes of the unconscious and meaning-life orientations, social actions, public consciousness formation, national spirit and historical memory. From the standpoint of the country specific and chronological approach, the general characteristics of the Russian mentality are considered, which are superimposed on the psychological characteristics of various groups and specific individuals’ mentality, which can lead to forming a single national spirit associated with the specifics of national psychology if people have a national idea. As an organizational integrative principle of the statehood Russian people’s mentality is considered as a synergetic noospheric symbiosis of the individuals’ mentality of the Russian society.

The work is dedicated to identifying and defining the figurative and spatial characteristics of railway stations constructed in Shenyang during the first half of the 20th century. In the course of the study, the main architectural and compositional techniques employed by architects for the construction of railway stations in Russia, the South, the North, and the East are examined in detail. The stylistic traits that are associated with Western European, Chinese, and Japanese architectural traditions are identified. The brief history of the construction of these stations is reviewed, as well as the objects that served as models for the planned structures. The author examines how each station influenced the formation of the urban composition and development. As part of the research, three approaches to station design were identified based on national characteristics. Russian designers considered these stations to be secondary, which is reflected in the use of standardized design techniques and lack of elaboration in urban planning. Japanese architects designed the station based on the typology of similar facilities in the city. An integrated approach was taken, with the station originally planned as the center of a residential development project. Chinese builders sought to demonstrate the independence of their national architecture from foreign influences, resulting in the creation of a creative solution that is typical of Sino-Western architecture during this period, characterized by the breakdown of proportions and tectonic elements from European architecture. Additionally, the stations designed by Chinese architects were characterized by a lack of integration with the existing urban planning, which was partly addressed during the Manchukuo period.

The development of fast construction methods that allow to speed up and cheapen the procedure of housing construction will form conditions for simplifying mortgage programs by financial institutions. Despite the positive aspects of industrialization, this process is characterized by signs of depersonalization and loss of regional authenticity in architecture. This leads to the erosion of national mentality and loss of cultural identity. The search for signs of cultural identity of the Russian individual dwelling is based on the volumetric and spatial analysis of the architecture of the traditional Russian dwelling house of the North-Western regions of the Russian Federation. Since this area corresponds to the third and fourth climatic zone, in which most of the territory of the Russian Federation is located. As a result of the analysis, the characteristic planning features of individual residential houses formed under the influence of natural and climatic conditions of the region are determined and the stable, not changing in time signs of identity are revealed. As a result of the study, the parameters of the optimal percentage ratio of warm and cold zones in the volume of the house for the formation of a sustainably developing system of national housing, and the stylistic and typological characteristics formed on their basis.

The paper considers the general trends in classicism and city planning in Russia and Siberia. The prerequisites for the classicism development are studied on the example of the famous architectural monuments; the main style characteristics are considered. This study concerns the problems of preserving historic buildings in the cities of Russia and the loss of valuable building elements. Classical architecture offers simple clean design widely used in the 19th century and recognized as a background building in all cities of the country. It was most of all subject to destruction during the Soviet period. At present, these objects are rare and identify the architectural era. Although many authors study classicism in the cities of Russia and Siberia, the city of Tomsk has not been studied enough.Comparative and architectural analyses are used to study the classicism development in the capitals of Russia, Siberia and in Tomsk, in particular. It is shown how the main public buildings are designed and built in the cities of Russia and in the city of Tomsk in accordance with the approved projects. It is shown that having passed the main formation stages, classicism becomes the national style by the middle of the 19th century. The need to build public buildings in all provincial cities of the country, new types of buildings such as magistrates, seats, banks, stock exchanges and others, change the architectural style in Russia. The model projects allow in a short time to carry out a large-scale economical and technically correct construction, which contributes to the stylistic integrity of the Russian cities.

The implementation of the national program “Digital Economy of the Russian Federation”, the use of distance technologies in the educational process require teachers to have digital competencies. At the moment in the Russian Federation, there are no formulations of digital competencies of a teacher. Although different models of digital competencies and skills have been created, they are rather complementary to each other. An organization can integrate a ready-made model, but it may not fully meet all the characteristics of the organization, its architecture and internal structure. In Russia, in the field of education, the formulation of digital competencies is spontaneous. In Russian science, digital competence refers to the use of digital technologies in professional activities, training, and social communications. Digital competencies are skills for effectively solving problems of a professional, social, personal nature using various types of information and communication technologies. Using the Delphi peer review method, the authors developed the teachers digital competencies and their indicators. The value of the results obtained lies in the fact that when conducting competitive procedures for filling vacant teacher positions, it is possible to assess the level of formation of digital competencies.

The architecture of theatre buildings in the modern period (from the late XXth century to the present day) has gone through significant changes in the architectural and artistic image of new constructions and in technological solutions. These transformations were motivated both by the need to comply with global standards and by the desire to sovereignly formulate priorities for the development of authentic national theatres (as an essential type of cultural institution) in each country. The goal of the article is to identify the key features of the traditions of contemporary theatre architecture in different parts of the world — in Europe, in the East and, of course, in Russia. This is, first of all, the creation of “star” architecture — a technique that has become especially popular in many countries over the past three decades. The revealed features of modern theatre architecture are primarily based on the analysis of the latest techniques for developing the artistic image of a new theatre building, its role in the development of the city environment and identification of the required set of technical characteristics. It is concluded that in the conditions of contemporary globalization the necessity to embody local identity in the architecture of modern theatres becomes a priority for each country.

This article discusses the genesis and historical development of the sacred complexes of historic Volhyn. Based on historical and architectural analysis, it is presented that sacred complexes of historic Volhynia were built according to the canons of temple architecture, and at the same time they have their own characteristics, related to national traditions and regional features which appeared as a result of the process of forming Christianity as a religion associated with national development in the specific study territory. The results of a comprehensive analysis of historical and archival documents found in the archives of Ukraine, Poland and Russia, as well as field research are presented. Results of system and theoretical research of significant retrospective analysis of canonical, historical and political prerequisites of sacral complexes were generalized. The concept of sacred complex structures throughout ХІ-ХІХ th centuries is suggested in correlation with the change of religious identity formation and differentiation according to religious requirements. Existence of autochthonous traditions and genuine vector of the Volhynia’s sacred complex development, considering the specific geopolitical location between East and West in the area where two different cultures collide with each other has been proved. The work is shifting statements concerning direct borrowing of architectural and stylistic components of architectural and planning structure and certain decorative elements.

This paper gives an account of the emergence and existence of the architectural ensemble named “Saint Theodore” in Tsarskoe Selo as an example of the retrospective and national romantic tendencies of the Russian culture of the beginning of the 20th century. This architectural complex, centred in the Cathedral of the Mother of God Saint Theodore (the regimental and household church of the last Romanovs) unfortunately was not finished. Nevertheless it became the project of returning Russian art to the 17th century. This architectural ensemble was conceived by architects : S. Kričinskij, V. Pokrovskij, V. Maksimov, A. Ščusev, it was decorated by painters I. Bilibin, fathers Vasnecov, M. Nesterov, N. Rerix and others got a number of stylistic characteristics typical of both retrospectivism and neo-Russian style. Decree of the President of the Russian Federation № 633 dated November 8, 2021 among the main directions of state policy in this area, determines the scientific and methodological support for strategic planning of socio-economic development and ensuring national security [2]. Currently, the minimum necessary regulatory and legal framework has been formed for the preparation and implementation of state programs of the Russian Federation. The named Presidential Decree established the architecture of strategic planning documents. Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation № 786 of May, 26, 2021 regulates the general rules for the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of state programs of the Russian Federation [4]; Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation № 903 of July 17, 2019 approved uniform rules for the formation of a Consolidated Annual Report on the progress of implementation and evaluation of the effectiveness of state programs of the Russian Federation [3]. At the same time, there are gaps in the regulatory support for the preparation and implementation of state programs that do not allow us to correctly assess the quality of state programs, which primarily means (but is not limited to) their impact on achieving long-term priorities of socio-economic development of the Russian Federation. Earlier, the authors outlined the main methodological approaches to assessing the quality of government programs, the algorithm and tools for conducting an assessment, and also published the main results of testing the recommended assessment model [7, 8]. This article develops the author's ideas of qualitative analysis of the links between the goals and indicators (target block) of state programs of the Russian Federation with the priorities of socio-economic development of the country and offers quantitative methods of their assessment. In general, a series of articles by the authors describes a "line" of models that allow a comprehensive quantitative assessment of the qualitative characteristics of state programs of the Russian Federation.

Dutch seventeenth-century classical art occupies an important place in the European style system. Classicism in Holland has found expression in all art forms: architecture, painting, printed graphics, literature and theater. At the same time the penetration of classical ideas into any given type of art was gradual and steady. During the formation of this style in Holland the classical principles were supplemented with Baroque formal techniques and creative method of realism. Dutch seventeenth-century classicism has all the characteristics of a full-fledged, grand style: a set of formal and figurative tools, coverage of all types of art, gradual evolution, improvement and enrichment of the artistic language. A theory, developed by Dutch classical artists, influenced not only the practice of the national school artists, but also representatives of the next generations from different countries (in particular, the formation of Russian art in the 18 century).

The research of the architecture of churches in villages of the Armenians of the Lower Don (Myasnikovsky district of the Rostov region of the Russian Federation) was conducted in order to identify their urban, historical and aesthetic value and significance in the history of the Armenian Diaspora. The analysis of the stylistic features of the architecture of the churches led to the conclusion that consideration of them in problem-chronological order allows us to trace the process of searching by customers and architects of the national Armenian "style", which was relevant in the era of historicism. Urban planning analysis and characteristics of the current state of buildings indicate that the churches of Surb Astvatsatsin in Bolshye Saly village, Surb Hambartsum in Chaltyr village, Surb Amenaprkich in Crimea village are in satisfactory condition. They are important in the modern urban planning system of settlements and strengthen the identification of main streets and squares. The churches of Surb Gevorg in Sultan Saly village and Surb Karapet in Nesvetay village are in a ruined state and require work to be preserved. Achieving the goals of the Doctrine in the field of improving the quality of food and feed products is supposed to be realized with the help of some tasks, where one of them is the development of the production of food additives and ingredients in the Russian Federation, as well as the development and implementation of a quality management system for agricultural and food products and the creation of conditions for production of new generation products with specified quality characteristics. In this regard, this paper discusses the optimal and economical methods for extracting the dye from the flowers of Clitoria ternatea in order to reduce the duration of the production cycle and the introduction of low-waste technologies, which can exclude the irrational use of raw materials, lead to an increase in production, a decrease in the cost of the finished product, and an increase in economic production indicators, reducing the anthropogenic impact of production on the environment. Also, the work has developed and described a modern technology for the production of a dye, according to which it is possible to improve the quality and safety monitoring system. The prospects of using the dye from Clitoria ternatea flowers in feed additives for farm animals and birds are considered. This can undoubtedly be of interest to the business community, therefore, we can assume that the production of a natural dye from plant materials and this work is a fairly relevant subject within the framework of the Doctrine of Food Security of the Russian Federation, not only from the medico-biological, but also from the technological side.

Introduction. The article explores the reasons for the emergence of ethnic diversity in the city of Berlin, encompassing political, historical, geographical, anthropological, and sociological aspects of the urban environment. It also outlines the current issues in German society that shape the political culture of its people. The relevance of the topic is driven by the political radicalization of migrants in Germany, particularly in Berlin, resulting from cultural globalization that impacts traditional political institutions and behavioral models of the city's residents. The crisis of the liberal-democratic model and the increase in the number of Eurosceptics also play a significant role in the transformation of the political culture of contemporary Berliners. Solving the problem of political radicalization of migrants is equally important for the Russian Federation, especially in St. Petersburg, combining characteristics of the European urban environment and the polyethnic Russian state, whose residents consider themselves Russians despite national and cultural differences. Methodology and sources. The research is grounded in Ernest Burgess's model of concentric zones. The study relies on research methods such as synthesis, comparison, analysis, and sociological approaches. Data from the Federal Statistical Office of Germany, the results of the 2016 elections to the Berlin House of Deputies, the 2021 elections, and the subsequent 2023 elections, historical data, and findings from other researchers on the topic served as sources for the study. Results and discussion. The study identifies features of urban culture shaping the polyethnic Berlin society, including the ethnic diversity of residents, unique self-identification of Berliners, the presence of distinct urban districts, squatter movements, and the influence of architectural and spatial characteristics on the formation of human social behavior. Some city problems were also highlighted, such as the crisis of formation of a distorted perception of right and left currents among Berliners, the failure of multiculturalism policies, the migration crisis, and housing shortages. Conclusion. The development of a Berliner as a political being is influenced by the characteristics of the urban environment and certain issues facing the city, where the residential district, properties of the city's political culture, and ethnic background impact the political views of its inhabitants

Energy resources are becoming an increasingly politicized commodity, which at the same time retains special technical and economic characteristics, which complicates the work of the foreign policy leadership. The authors, using a comparative method, conduct a study of the relationship between energy and foreign policy in the EU and the USA through the prism of different cognitive structures used by subjects to assess the landscape of global energy. On this conceptual basis, the authors explore the evolution of the relationship between energy and foreign policy in the EU and the United States: to what extent energy is a useful tool of foreign policy, and, conversely, how deeply the goals of energy policy are embedded in foreign policy. By making such a comparison, the authors identify differences and potential similarities between the EU and the US in this area. Thus, comparing the approaches of the USA and the EU, one can see a tendency towards their convergence. Despite the significant difference in the energy landscape of the EU and the United States, Brussels and Washington agreed that they included a common vision of the global energy architecture in their foreign policy. The use of energy as a political tool, at least in rhetoric, was condemned by both sides. Nevertheless, at the national level, energy issues in the EU are often determined by the foreign policy considerations of a particular country. It is also worth remembering that LNG exports from the United States to Europe are considered to a certain extent as a means of increasing competition for Russian natural gas, as a way to provide US allies with an alternative and help them reduce dependence on Russia, sometimes even as an energy weapon, but in any case as a very effective foreign policy tool.

The object of the study is the text as a complex structured information, which is expressed in verbal and non-verbal languages. In a broad sense, the authors consider a real reality event as a hypertext, the social significance of which is increasing in the digital society. The lexeme “homo modern” – a person of the modern digital era, a representative of the XXI century has been proposed in the article and its characteristics are given. The hypertext of cultural content is considered on the examples of an architectural object and an exhibition exposition. The ability to understand the multidimensional nature of texts is interpreted in the article as one of Russian mentality features, which goes back to the tradition of anagogic perception of icons and Christian literature. The exhibition at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts “There are strange approaches...”, understood by us as hypertext, is evaluated from the point of view of structuring, content, justification of the technologies used. The authors consider that the exposition material does not fully possess symbolic allusions characteristic of the Russian mentality. In conclusion, it is argued, that in modern conditions of information technology development, the importance of hypertext as a cultural phenomenon capable of initiating the preservation of national mental traits increases significantly.

The paper reports on a study of the national-geographical cultural concept Grodno, using data from 33 different types of dictionaries published between 1907 and 2014, as well as an associative experiment. The study aimed to collect and analyze information about the lexeme Grodno presented in dictionaries and determine the main characteristics of the concept. The structure of the concept was found to include core, value, image, and conceptual components. Only 10 dictionaries recorded the lexeme Grodno, but the study was able to create its own word-formation nest with the lexeme, comprising 8 units. The results of the associative experiment helped identify the concept Grodno in the language picture of the world of 100 Grodno citizens. The paper examines the concept Grodno, its structure, and its linguistic representation, considering cognitive and linguacultural aspects. The study used a complex method of analysis, employing a range of general scientific and linguistic methods. Based on the analysis of dictionary definitions and the associative experiment, a generalized model of the concept Grodno and its components is presented, including the city and its location, the first mention of the city, the number of inhabitants, history, people related to Grodno, architecture, industrial sectors and enterprises, infrastructure, environmental condition, and evaluation (fame). The paper highlights the importance of the concept Grodno as a fundamental concept of Belarusian culture, reflecting the idea of the city in the linguistic picture of the world of Russian-speaking people.

Background. A point-of-care glucose testing (POCT) is an essential component of care in patients with hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia in inpatient and outpatient medical facilities (MFs). In MFs conventional glucose meters designed for self-monitoring by patients with diabetes are commonly used for POCT. These home-use meters have two serious disadvantages: the first is large measurement bias and the second – they can’t be integrated into laboratory information systems, so measurement data have to be recorded into patient charts manually. Both factors may lead to medical errors. It is reasonable to use in the MFs specialized POCT glucose meters, as they are superior to conventional ones in accuracy and may be easily connected to laboratory information systems. With this in mind, physicians at the Russian Children’s Clinical Hospital – Branch of Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University – decided to substitute conventional meters with the Accu-Chek Inform II POCT meter, however, after preliminary performance assessment of the model. Aim. To test the Accu-Chek Inform II performance characteristics: accuracy, linearity, repeatability, mean absolute relative difference. Materials and methods. Performance of the Accu-Chek Inform II was tested by comparing the results of parallel CGL measurements with the meter and reference laboratory analyzer in capillary blood samples. Overall, 99 parallel CGL measurements were made in 45 samples. Accuracy was evaluated according to the ISO 15197-2013 and POCT12-A3 criteria. Results. The Accu-Chek Inform II meter met the requirements of ISO 15197-2013 and POCT12-A3 and demonstrated high linearity (correlation coefficient, r=1.0), good repeatability (mean coefficient of variation, CV=1.38%) and acceptable mean absolute relative difference (4.9%). Conclusion. The Accu-Chek Inform II POCT glucose meter may be efficiently and safely used in inpatient and outpatient MFs and particularly in pediatric clinics.

The article presents an analysis of the possibilities of visualizing data on emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere from stationary sources using interactive infographics. We used data posted on the official website of Rosprirodnadzor on various characteristics of emissions from the level of municipalities to Russia as a whole. Examples of visualization of similar data are presented in the reports of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the National Atlas of Russia and the Environmental Atlas of Russia. We have reviewed software products for creating interactive infographics, including geo-infographics. Among them, we chose the online service Datawrapper, where a template for a map of Russia in its modern borders is available to users. Methodological recommendations for displaying emission data using interactive infographics for different levels of information generalization are presented. Examples of interactive infographics have also been created: a map of polluting emissions by municipalities and bar charts of the dynamics of some specific pollutants emissions. The article contains links to online versions of the resulting interactive graphics. It is concluded that interactive infographics are a technological, convenient and accessible tool for a wide range of users to visualize data on emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. Visualization of this type of data is necessary for the field of environmental monitoring and management, in the field of environmental education and enlightenment activities. The integration of geoinformation technologies and technologies for creating interactive infographics is a promising direction for further research.

The work is devoted to the town-planning heritage of Livadia. For the first time, relying on the graphic design sources of the 1860s and the turn of the XIX - XX centuries, the history of the formation of the ensemble of the new and second after Oreanda imperial residence in the Crimea is revealed. The content and characteristics of the imperial private order in post-reform Russia are considered. The central place is occupied by the design of the ensemble, its functional structure and boundaries, the architectural and spatial development of the territories, the principles of planning and development the issues of park construction and the use of the naturallandscape. In the era of historicism and national romanticism, a new trend in the arrangement of the privatelife of Russian monarchs was the appeal to the examples and traditions of the Russian aristocratic manor. The estate of Livadia, with the established complex of a noble manor, was bought by Alexander II from the heirs of Count L.S. Pototsky and presented to the Empress Maria Alexandrovna. The subject of the study is the town-planning transformation aimed at adapting and further developing the ensemble in order to accommodate the royal famty, the court the retinue, and the extensive system of services.Livadia reconstruction can be divided into two stages. The first is connected with the most intensive transformations of the environment carried out in 1862-1866 undertheleadership of I.A. Monighetti. The architect proposed the concept of a dispersed system of resettlement and placement of new building complexes outside the front of the estate core - auxiliary household military and other services of the residence. An integral part of the plan was road construction and development of infrastructure along with new sections of territories within the boundaries ofland ownershipThe second stage of active construction in Livadia occurred in 1869 - the beginning of the 1880s, and it was mainty directed to social programs. It was the erection of the second church of the estate in the midst of settlement complexes for personnel of the residence services; school for 120 people, etc. The principles of park construction extended to each of the peripheral sections and complexes. The system of water supp^ along with the engineering and technical support service of the estate and surrounding settlements were created. Livadia resembled a city-residence and a city-garden.For the first time the general plans of Livadia that reveal the scale of architectural transformations during the period of possession of the royal family are published.

The article considers the importance of preserving the architectural environment's national identity in terms of its defense’s effectiveness in modern military operations. A brief overview of the traditional urban characteristics of Ukrainian cities, which in the past ensured their effective defense, was made: the way the buildings are located in the landscape, the planning structure, the height of the buildings, and the density of their location on the territory. The local landscape was actively involved in the architectural organization of the environment, which ultimately determined the unique plan structure for each city and the individual routing of the street network. If necessary, elements of the local landscape were supplemented with artificial systems and used for defense. A significant perimeter of cities with a predominance of traditional manor buildings created difficulties for the organization of the enemy encirclement. Internal fortifications around individual structural elements of the city contributed to long-term defense. To protect large areas, a system of tree-earth ramparts was artificially created. In the past, these measures helped to defend Ukrainian cities effectively. The events of the Russian-Ukrainian war, among other things, revealed that modern weapons, with all their capabilities, could not always overcome landscape obstacles, in particular, ancient defensive walls and swampy areas north of Kyiv; cities that preserved the traditional character of the architectural environment defended more effectively; flat regions of cities, compared to those located on rugged terrain, found themselves in a more threatening situation, etc. All these facts will obviously be subject to detailed analysis in the future. Still, it is already possible to conclude that the preservation of traditional identity in the conditions of a modern architectural environment is essential not only for the self-identification of residents or for the formation of the attractiveness of urban space but also for practical reasons of organizing the effective defense. After all, in the process of long-term formation of the architectural space’s traditional features, the defensive potential of the local landscape many times passed a practical test of its effectiveness by military operations in different historical periods.

The goal of this article consists in the analysis of phenomenological characteristics and legal correlation of the definitions “national interests” and “national security”. The author highlights doctrinal and conceptual peculiarities of consolidation of national interests in the modern Russian legal system, determines the priorities of establishment of the system of national interests, as well as proposes optimal means for formation of the system of national interests through the integrated model that ensures adequate inclusion of the objectively nationwide interests, creation of mechanisms of their protection and implementation. The efficiency of international legal mechanism of ensuring national interests in Russia on the regional and global scale is being analyzed and assessed. The priorities of international legal cooperation in the context of ensuring national security and protection of national interests are determined. The scientific novelty lies in the statement that sequential analysis of the problems, which emerge in terms of building the system of national security and in the sphere of fulfilling national interests, may significantly affect the theoretical-substantive and technical-legal aspects of the regulatory-protective activity, establish a closer correlation between the fundamental elements of Russian legal system, including elements of the mechanism of ensuring national security.

This article presents an overview of the works of scientists and critics about the life and work of F.M. Dostoevsky. Fyodor Dostoevsky's personosphere occupies a special place in the Russian national-cultural space; his novels reflect the national reality and convey the national values of Russian people; his characters symbolize the national Russian character. The high frequency of the manifestation of the conceptual category of extremes in various spheres of the individual personosphere of F.M. Dostoevsky is revealed: in the facts of Dostoevsky's biography and their reflection in the writer's works; Russian language culture is reflected in the creative method of F.M. Dostoevsky; in the character and actions of F.M. Dostoevsky's characters as frequent images of the writer's personal personosphere; when describing extreme situations in the life of characters in works of fiction; when reflecting the Russian character, Russian linguistic culture through Dostoevsky's characters (which also confirms that the manifestation of extremes is characteristic of Russian linguistic culture).

Abstract The author focuses on selected productions of this year’s special program category of the Russian Theatre Festival Golden Mask 2018 – Russian Case in Moscow. The comparison of the latest productions of different genres and artistic aesthetics reveals the common interest of their creators in urgent socio-cultural and historical-political themes. The Russian Case category introduced Russian theatre this year as an increasingly active tool for social engagement, which is concerned with the present or the past of the nation or individual. With the vision of a better future, creators confront themselves with collective and individual memories and seek ways to cope with them in an artistic and human way.

The first issue of the twenty-fourth volume of Contemporary Military Challenges is dedicated to the military. Due to the many changes in the international security environment, which significantly impact our primary environment in Slovenia and more broadly in the European Union, we have focused on topics that better explain our present and will have a significant impact on our future when it comes to defence and security. The armed forces and the military are an integral part of both. Some people, however, have a different perception of these topics because they are subconsciously reminiscent of violence, fear, death and everything associated with these concepts. Modern society strives for other values such as abundance, success, prosperity and the like. In times when the society is doing well and thriving in peace and abundance, few individuals stress the importance of national security, the functionality and effectiveness of the national security system, and the readiness of their armed forces. When the security situation deteriorates, the society usually intensively reacts only in the beginning. In the meantime, however, systems and institutions need to function and evolve continuously. In the recent years, we have witnessed some surprising changes in the security landscape, which have tested our preparedness, responsiveness and resilience. Three of these changes include the European migrant crisis, the COVID-19 epidemic and the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. Security mechanisms must respond appropriately to the changing security threats. Last year, the European Union and the Alliance have done so. The European Union has produced a Strategic Compass for Security and Defence to protect its citizens, values and interests, and contribute to international peace. In the Alliance, on the other hand, a new NATO’s Strategic Concept is being developed. In parallel with these documents, which govern the future security architecture in the broad international environment, new documents are being revised and produced in the Republic of Slovenia in 2022. The Resolution on General Long-Term Development and Equipping Programme of the Slovenian Armed Forces up to 2035, the Medium-Term Defence Programme of the Republic of Slovenia 2022-2026, and the Military Strategy of the Republic of Slovenia were adopted by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia in the first semester. These documents will have a significant impact on Slovenia's security and defence over the next few years, but especially on the Slovenian Armed Forces, which represents the military instrument of national power. The latter contributes not only to national defence, but with its troops, equipment and capabilities also represents Slovenia’s contribution to common security in the Alliance and the European Union. The documents adopted by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia are written to be implemented. A decade of promises about how much we will spend on defence in general and on the security, training and equipment of members of the Slovenian Armed Forces is, hopefully, over. The changed security environment in the immediate vicinity of the European Union and the Alliance suggests that security will have to be taken more seriously in both theoretical and practical terms. Fortunately, the military is the ultimate instrument of national power to counter a number of security threats. There are, however, also other instruments of national power that can play an important role in deterring threats, but even the most extreme of all measures must be effective and of good quality. The Military Strategy of the Republic of Slovenia will certainly contribute to this in the future. The document was drafted after a considerable reflection in all structures of the Slovenian Armed Forces and has made a significant contribution to the development of military strategic thought. Several articles relating to this document have been written throughout last year. This issue of Contemporary Military Challenges on the military brings some new ones, and, apparently, there will be many more in the future. Centre of gravity: from theoretical baseline to the practical application of the concept is the title of the article by Miha Šlebir who argues that the concept of centre of gravity is one of the fundamental pillars of contemporary military science. The long-standing practice in the field of planning and conduct of military operations, however, also brings certain dilemmas. The author presents the theories of this concept, its strengths and weaknesses, and tests them with the example of the first phase of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In the article Analysis of the process of drafting the military strategy of the Republic of Slovenia, Bensad Šiniković builds on Procházko's twelve principles. There are several different models on military strategy formulation processes. In the Republic of Slovenia, we already have experience with the drafting of the National Security Strategy of the Republic of Slovenia of 2019. We know some of the models only from a theoretical point of view, while others we have already tested in practice, also in the case of the draft Military Strategy of the Republic of Slovenia. The actual role of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, and the who and the how of commanding the Slovenian Armed Forces in the legal terms is examined by Uroš Krek in his article President of the republic of Slovenia as commander-in-chief of the defence forces. His role is very clearly defined by the Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia, whereas its connection with the Defence Act is perhaps a little less clear. The author provides an adequate explanation and interpretation of the legal acts and offers suggestions for possible amendments. Consistency in normative documents is essential for the coherence and transparency of a particular area of government activity. Stanislav Šantelj writes about this in his article Relationship between ends, ways and means - a case study of the military strategy of the Republic of Slovenia. Is everything that is agreed at the strategic level both nationally and internationally, viable, and what influence do the means have on this? Bernard Polanec discusses the Vision of mountain warfare development in the Slovenian Armed Forces. Theories, concepts and doctrines in various fields are constantly changing. Before anything changes, however, it is necessary to study several theories, compare lessons learned, formulate new proposals and organise quality discussions. The whole process can be repeated several times, thus contributing to the generation of new knowledge and literature. The author's contribution draws on Slovenian geographical characteristics and years-long experience, which have resulted in a different perspective of the subject. Military knowledge is important. It is constantly evolving and advancing. Some of the topics should be kept confidential, but for those that are not, we invite future authors to share them with the readers of Contemporary Military Challenges.

The article under discussion depicts axiological characteristics of English, Uzbek and Russian phraseological units. The aim of the author was to study English, Uzbek and Russian phraseological units as a reflection of the national character and national values of the native speakers. The English, Uzbek and Russian phraseological fund is so large that a complete study of it would not fit into the framework of the target research. However, on the example of the phraseological units considered in the article it is possible to get an idea of the mentality of the British, Uzbeks and Russians.

We consider the issue of studying the peculiarities of the Russian national character, understanding national character helps students to gain knowledge in psychological and pedagogical disciplines, the Russian language, literature, history. We analyzed and evaluate material contributing to the implementation of academic and educational activities. The research focuses on the personal, substantive and social characteristics of representatives of the Russian ethnic group. Knowledge about the peculiarities of the Russian national character is considered as secondary new knowledge about the native language, national culture, and history. The emphasized unpredictability of ethnic processes in modern Russia makes the subject of our study relevant. We consider the Russian national character as a unique subject of history with personal psychological characteristics. Modern scientists consider the issues of Russian mentality through the definition of a subject field connected with the national character. Despite the many points of view on the solution of the issue, it is still relevant, but not implemented. The approbation results of the program developed by us on the basis of the Socio-Pedagogical Institute of Michurinsk State Agrarian University are presented.

We focus on sustainable growth identified thru the application of intrinsic value change criteria. We employ integrated approach to understand the determinants of the sustainable growth based on key structural characteristics of a company. The financial architecture is represented by ownership structure (managerial ownership, foreign ownership and ownership concentration), corporate governance (the structure of the board of directors and internal control) and capital structure. We examine the difference in characteristics of growth sustainability of Russian companies representing three different types of financial architecture of more than 50 large Russian firms. Our results indicate that corporate financial architecture has a significant impact on the sustainable corporate growth in the Russian market. More importantly, we show that the nature of the influence depends on the type of financial architecture.

Maria Damilakou, Immigration and Urbanisation. The Settlement of European Immigrants in the City of Buenos Aires (1880-1920)

The present article is based on the national census of Argentina as wellas on the municipal census of the city of Buenos Aires, during the period 1869-1914; it aims to illuminate certain aspects of the mutual relationship developed between the immigrants' action and the urban space where they were called to settle in. The choices of housing and the «routes» of the different ethnic groups in the neighbourhoods and suburbs of the city were inserted in a wider context, defined by structural factors related to work, social hierarchies and urban space's organization. However, this context did not exist independently from the immigrants' action: their cultural characteristics, desires and decisions were constantly creating new conditions that contributed to the successive transformations of Buenos Aires' urban network. The map of the different settlements of the ethnic groups in the city of Buenos Aires reveals, on the one hand, the absence of closed ghettoes and exclusive neighbourhoods and, on the other hand, the tendency of the ethnic groups to be concentrated in certain zones; these tendencies oblige us to moderate both the image of an harmonic coexistence of all immigrants, as well as the model based on the existence of clear boundaries among ethnic groups, accordingly to their position in the social hierarchies. Many and varying factors seem to have conditioned the settlement patterns of ethnic groups: the great number and the early arrival of Italian and Spanish immigrants contributed to their dispersion all over the city, whereas smaller ethnic groups such as the Portuguese and the British, tended to be more concentrated in certain neighbourhoods. The remarkable concentration of certain groups, such as the French and the British, was also due to their high socio-economic level; Finally, the cohesion of latter immigrant groups —Russian Jews, Syrianand Lebanese— could be attributed to their cultural particularity incomparison to the host society. However, the map of the settlements of the ethnic groups was not a static one but was constantly changing: since the beginning of the 20th century until 1914, one could observe a high mobility towards the city's periphery, related to the access to the proper house, which determined the city's expansion patterns. The immigrants' action in the suburbs determined not only Buenos Aires' urbanisation process but also the architecture and the neighbourhoods' style. Despite the decisive role of mass transports' expansion and the opportunities offered by the landmarket, immigrants' mobility towards the suburbs can not be conceived independently of the ethnic social networks through which many immigrants followed the steps of their parents and fellow countrymen. Besides, the role of the argentine state in the housing problem was limited: the attempt to create some state subsidized houses in the periphery had very relative results and the poor suburbs were mostly inhabited through more «spontaneous» mechanisms, based on the ethnic social networks.

Russian exposition pavilions at world and international fairs, expressive and unique in their artistic formulation, were always among the most visible national buildings. Beginning with the first structures at the 1867 World Fair in Paris, Russia presented medieval Russian architectural forms at all subsequent exhibitions. An important feature of Russia’s exhibition building abroad was the supreme desire to achieve high quality despite the fact that the structures were doomed to destruction. Russian architects strove to create an original image of the national exhibition pavilion, and so their appeal to medieval Russian architecture was natural. The path followed by Russia when participating in world and international exhibitions was not chosen by chance. This was the route to Russia’s assertion of her national culture in the West.

Purpose of the study: We aim to study the typology of Russian expo construction abroad consisting of three branches: construction of model facilities, construction of official ceremonial buildings and facades, and, finally, construction of exposition pavilions. Methods: Despite the inevitable demolition of the facilities, Russian exposition pavilions built abroad always strained after high quality of architecture, which is quite important. Results: A peculiar type of buildings — the Russian national exhibition pavilion — formed, which is traditionally styled after old Russian architecture but, at the same time, meets the new exposition and functional requirements.
