The effects of mixed-reality teaching experiences on participants’ perceptions of their classroom management ability are evaluated using a mixed-methods design. Mursion, a technology that enables virtual simulations, is used. Participants include 29 undergraduates pursuing a degree in special education for learners with mild or moderate/severe disabilities enrolled in a university-level course focused on developing skills in managing the learning environment. Participants teach three different scenarios in the Mursion lab over the semester and complete a 21-statement survey using a 5-point Likert-type scale (i.e., strongly agree–strongly disagree) and reflect about their experience into a video camera. Results indicate that some participant perceptions changed over time because of the Mursion experiences and that the academic program being pursued made no difference in the participants’ Mursion experience. Implications for practice with a focus on rural education and limitations of the study are also discussed.

Educator preparation programs have moved away from offering interest-based courses that prepare a teacher candidate on a more surface level and have opted to integrate more authentic experiences with technology that are infused into coursework. This research study focused on redesigning key courses in both the general and special education graduate-level educator preparation programs (EPPs) to infuse learning experiences through a simulated learning environment (Mursion) to help bridge teacher candidates’ coursework and field experiences, offering them robust experience with high leverage practices and technology that increases their own competency. Data from this study demonstrated that preservice teacher candidate work within the Mursion simulated learning environment increased use of high leverage practices related to strategic teaching, collaboration, differentiation, and providing feedback. Implications for instructional coaching, microteaching, repeated practice, and closing the research to practice gap are discussed.

V članku je predstavljeno manjše grobišče, odkrito v vasi Tišina zahodno od Murske Sobote. Najdenih je bilo 12 grobov, ki časovno sodijo v mlajše obdobje kulture žarnih grobišč. Obravnavane so grobne najdbe, tako keramično posodje kot tudi drugi predmeti, in sicer nakit, železna noža in drugo. Med njimi izstopa okrašena bronasta tulasta sekira. Najdbe iz grobov kažejo podobnost z grobovi ruške skupine kulture žarnih grobišč.

Mate selection is often explained by either the homogeneity or the complementary need model. The Stimulus-Value-Response (SVR) model that offers a framework for integration of the two models was assessed in the present study. The sample included forty-eight engaged Israeli couples. Results support the SVR model and confirm earlier research in this area. Conceptual and methodological issues are discussed.

Bangladeshi poetry underwent significant changes in cases of subject-matter, theme, and technique over the period of last 40 years. With the passage of time, it embraced as well as adapted to those changes. De facto, after the year of 2000, how poetry has been fashioned in a new way is brought into focus through this research paper. More particularly, I have studied the subject-matter, theme, and language of four contemporary Bangladeshi poets namely Mujtaba Ahmed Murshed, Obayed Akash, Binoy Barman and Rakibul Hasan. I have considered these less known but substantial poets’ poetry because while coming across their poems I have minutely noticed the changes and variety they have celebrated through their verses. Therefore, I have selected four poetry collections of the aforementioned poets to expose multifarious aspects of the contemporary Bangladeshi poetry.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, faculty at a Hispanic serving institution shifted from face-to-face to totally online teaching. The authors describe two assignments for teacher candidates that required them to design and deliver lessons that focused on practicing two high-leverage practices utilizing Mursion, a mixed-reality simulation (MRS) software and platform. MRS sessions were delivered through Zoom video conferencing and were delivered asynchronously. Benefits, challenges, and limitations of using MRS in conjunction with Zoom in online courses were identified and discussed. Detailed logistics for planning, preparing, and executing MRS effectively were provided. The authors describe implications for remote learning as it related to teaching at an HSI located in one of the poorest areas of the U.S., with one of the most vulnerable populations.

This study investigated how preservice elementary teachers' (PSTs) noticed the discourse practices they used to position students and their scientific thinking as they engaged a group of student avatars in argumentation-based simulated discussions. Using qualitative methods, 82 teaching reflections from 28 PSTs were analyzed. Findings indicate that in most reflections (66%), the PSTs were able to support co-construction of knowledge in the Mursion ® simulations. A further 28% of the reflections indicated that one student was positioned as a “knower,” suggesting the beginning of power shifts within the classroom discussions. In just 6% of the reflections, the teacher was the person responsible for constructing knowledge. These findings suggest that simulations may provide PSTs with opportunities to practice positioning students as capable of explaining and questioning one another's ideas, and to develop teachers' skills to notice the discourse practices they use to build collective consensus in argumentation-based discussions.

Vrh Organizacije združenih narodov je septembra 2015 sprejel Agendo 2030 za trajnostni razvoj, ki združuje tri področja trajnostnega razvoja – ekonomsko, socialno in okoljsko – in jih prepleta med 17 ciljev trajnostnega razvoja. Zadnji, 17. cilj se glasi Partnerstva za doseganje ciljev. Cilj prispevka je predstaviti oblike sodelovanja med Policijsko upravo Murska Sobota (PU MS) in Mestno občino Murska Sobota (MO MS) pri zagotavljanju varnosti v lokalni skupnosti na območju MO MS, ki je primer dobre prakse uresničevanja 17. in tudi preostalih 16 ciljev trajnostnega razvoja pri zagotavljanju varnosti v lokalni skupnosti MO MS. PU MS je znana po uspešnem projektu policijskega dela v skupnosti Nazaj k ljudem, ki so mu sledili številni drugi. MO MS se v zadnjem desetletju lahko pohvali z izrednim napredkom in pozitivno socialno klimo. V prispevku smo z vidika ciljev trajnostnega razvoja analizirali dejavnosti, ki jih policija in občina izvajata z namenom zagotavljanja varnosti v lokalnih skupnostih.
