In learning based on socio-scientific issues, teachers primarily use role playing in situation learning to promote students’ knowledge and responsibility and to teach them how to reach a consensus in multirole scenarios. However, if participants only engage with the material from the perspective of having one role, they will ignore comprehensive information on said issue. Therefore, the roles students play during multirole situational learning lead to diversity biases in learning results. To help participants enhance their competencies related to issues and eliminate learning gaps, we developed an issue-based board game named Water Ark based on the following four design ideas: multirole simulation, reflective goal, systemic situation, and interactions of society. The results indicated that after playing the game, participants’ knowledge and responsibility regarding water resource adaptation improved significantly. Furthermore, the findings revealed that the gap between the learning outcomes of participants with different roles in the game was not statistically significant, except in terms of students’ personal willingness to act. Thus, these design ideas could improve the utility of board games for learning about socio-scientific issues with multirole scenarios.

The multirole F-16 is the most advanced aircraft in the Polish Air Forces. It has been equipped with the very modern, sophisticated and advanced turbofan engine F100-PW-229. Due to the fact, that there is only one engine, its reliability, durability efficiency and performance are the crucial factors for the safety reasons. In the article authors researched maintenance system of the F100 turbofan engines, which are built on the multirole F-16 aircraft. For the study purposes F100 maintenance system model has been created. From this model, the main analysis domain was derived, comprising “Major engine objects discrepancies removal” process. Considering such an analysis domain, on the basis of the schematic diagram of the hazard identification process, authors presented the following procedures: tools preparation for the hazard sources identification, hazard sources identification, hazard sources grouping and hazards formulation. The main goal of this article was to provide hazard identification process results as hazard specifications, which include: a group of hazard sources, hazards formulation and the most probable/predictable consequences, severities and losses/harms of the hazard activation.

The C-peptide links the insulin A and B chains in proinsulin, providing thereby a means to promote their efficient folding and assembly in the endoplasmic reticulum during insulin biosynthesis. It then facilitates the intracellular transport, sorting, and proteolytic processing of proinsulin into biologically active insulin in the maturing secretory granules of theβcells. These manifold functions impose significant constraints on the C-peptide structure that are conserved in evolution. After cleavage of proinsulin, the intact C-peptide is stored with insulin in the soluble phase of the secretory granules and is subsequently released in equimolar amounts with insulin, providing a useful independent indicator of insulin secretion. This brief review highlights many aspects of its roles in biosynthesis, as a prelude to consideration of its possible additional role(s) as a physiologically active peptide after its release with insulin into the circulation in vivo.

In order to improve the analysis of multiple roles in novels, this article applies the deep learning text classification model to the analysis of novel roles. Moreover, in this article, the scale space formed by multiple text images of the same size is called an octave, and the text image size of adjacent groups is halved to construct a Gaussian pyramid. In text classification, this article uses the argument and amplitude information to form a direction gradient histogram and takes the argument corresponding to the largest peak as a main direction of the key point. Finally, this article constructs an intelligent analysis model. The research results show that the deep learning text classification model for multiple roles in novels proposed in this article has good effects on role analysis and text classification. For film and television scripts, the classification analysis of analysis texts and the contrast creation have very good application help.

Today, opportunities for students to immerse themselves in concrete professional situations remain limited, often confined to group projects or internships. This thesis is situated in the field of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) and explores the design of serious games for learning, known as learning games, whose use as educational tools can help fill this gap. We focus on the development of Role Learning Games (RLG), intended to simulate multi-actor professional environments. Unlike traditional serious games oriented toward single-player gameplay, RLGs aim to replicate the complexity of professional interactions by encouraging cooperation between different roles, each with distinct objectives and activities. Our research problem thus deals with modeling scenarios with player interaction for asymmetrical learning games. The state of the art reveals a lack of existing methods and tools for creating such games. In response, we propose a model for designing asymmetric RLGs allowing interactions between players. Subsequently, we reified this model through two tools, one tangible in the form of a puzzle, the other digital and available online. Finally, the results obtained from the experiments are presented, demonstrating the interest of the model and these tools in supporting the teacher during the scenario development phase. The conclusion highlights the contribution of this research, while opening the way for future perspectives. Our research domain is TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning). We operate within the epistemological paradigm of pragmatic constructivism. This research was guided by Design Based Research (DBR) and we followed the THEDRE method: Traceable Human Experiment Design Research by Nadine Mandran. To address our research question, we conducted several qualitative experiments. The end-users involved in the experiments were predominantly teachers (from middle schools, high schools, or engineering schools) and instructional designers. Following the experiments, we conducted focus groups or individual interviews. The recorded exchanges during the sessions were subjected to thematic analysis.A total of 11 experiments conducted with 54 participants, primarily teachers and instructional designers, allowed the development of an innovative model for creating RLG scenarios. This model promotes the implementation of cooperation between the participants of the future RLG, each playing distinct roles with specific educational objectives. To evaluate our model, we created two complementary tools: a tangible kit (RLG Kit) and a digital application (RLG Maker). With these tools, two RLGs were played in class with around a hundred students in total. Additionally, a scenario verification system (RLG Checker) was developed to assist designers in scenario development, ensuring that roles can cooperate effectively. In summary, this thesis advances TEL by proposing a scenario design model for Role Learning Games, complemented by versatile scenario design tools and a verification system. The first applications of these tools have proven their effectiveness in creating educational games, receiving positive feedback from teachers. It is currently possible to extend their use beyond educational contexts, and we are working on integrating scenarios into a Unity template to generate 3D games using the RLG Maker

Resumo:
A rapidly growing interest in third generation Personal Communication Networks has underlined the importance of wireless multimedia systems that can support voice, video, images, files, or any combinations thereof. In order to ensure satisfactory quality of service (QoS) for individual multimedia traffic, a new analysis with a new user model based on circuit-switched direct-sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) system is presented. The new user model is introduced to allow users to transmit data at multiple bit rates and to switch to other bit rates at any time. To facilitate performance analysis, each traffic type with rate s is assumed a probability ps for user k. To ensure satisfactory QoS, a new power control scheme is further proposed for a multimedia circuit-switched DS-CDMA system. Specifically, a new closed-form power control function is introduced to ensure quality of service for each traffic type and to achieve a better overall throughput at the same time. Central to the new closed-form power control function is a parameter called the traffic exponent. By introducing this parameter, the difficulty in obtaining an optimal closed-form power control function is reduced which simplifies the information feedback process from the base station to the mobile stations.

This thesis addresses the problem of estimating a random process from two observed signals sampled at different rates. The case where the low-rate observation has a higher signal-to- noise ratio than the high-rate observation is addressed. Both adaptive and non-adaptive filtering techniques are explored. For the non-adaptive case, a multirate version of the Wiener-Hopf optimal filter is used for estimation. Three forms of the filter are described. It is shown that using both observations with this filter achieves a lower mean-squared error than using either sequence alone. Furthermore, the amount of training data to solve for the filter weights is comparable to that needed when using either sequence alone. For the adaptive case, a multirate version of the LMS adaptive algorithm is developed. Both narrowband and broadband interference are removed using the algorithm in an adaptive noise cancellation scheme. The ability to remove interference at the high rate using observations taken at the low rate without the high-rate observations is demonstrated.

AbstractWhen examining the acquisition of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) by most western defence departments, the close historical and military connections between these countries with the United States only go so far in terms of an explanation for why some have adopted this platform and others have not. Adoption is by no means automatic and the features of large military platform procurement processes, which are both long-term and involve very large expenditures, with their idiosyncratic nature, multiple actors and strategic policy directions, have played an important role in this area, just as they have when purchasing warships and other military equipment. In this chapter, we compare how Australia and Canada chose to operate when considering the replacement of their ageing F-18 multirole fighters. Again, this process features two very similar countries and the same weapons system, and the different outcome each has had in this case again reveals the significant factors concerning the processes which led to those decisions, and the impact of politics in explaining both the commonalities and differences in the defence procurement approaches of the two countries.

Resumo:
Fancraft™ configurations have been attempted with varying degrees of success with the Piasecki ducted fan 'AirGeeps' back in the 1960s the most notable. Technical challenges tabled these vehicles at the time in favor of open rotor (helicopter) aircraft designs. Urban Aeronautics Ltd (UA) was formed in 2000 to pursue the development of compact, internal rotor configurations that addressed the earlier challenges of Fancraft™. Tactical-Robotics Ltd (TRL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of UA focused primarily on the development of military and homeland security variants of Fancraft™ including unmanned platforms. The Cormorant is a multirole UAS platform capable of a wide range of missions into complex, obstacle ridden terrain. In flight testing since 2010, it has achieved a TRL of 5. These test results have confirmed that earlier 'AirGeep challenges' have been addressed and expected performance goals have been substantiated thus far. Fancraft™ have proven viable and future testing will focus on the cruise flight regime and more advanced levels of autonomy with the goal of attaining a TRL level 6 in the next phase of testing.

Resumo:
Thanks to the possibility of new technologies, there are several alternatives to upgrade the current hardware and software of flight simulators, such as the implementation of photorealistic scenarios, a better field of view or a realistic flight model of a selected aircraft. A part is devoted to the current technical parameters of the ELITE S612 BITD simulator. The practical part describes three options for computer software, followed by three options for replacing hardware and three options for updating the visual system.
