This work analyzes the experience and moral values of the participants of the "Fora Dilma" demonstrations organized in the city of João Pessoa in 2015. Demonstrations against the federal government have been taking place in all the capitals of the Brazilian states since March 15, 2015, bringing together thousands of people who, dressed in the colors of the Brazilian flag, are asking for the Impeachment of the current President of the Republic, Dilma Rousseff. The protests were organized mainly by the social networks of anti-government groups, such as: "Revoltados Online", "Vem Pra Rua" and "Movimento Brasil Livre". Based on an analysis of the "Out Dilma" protests in the city of João Pessoa conducted by "Voltados João Pessoa", we sought to analyze how the need to combat corruption is transformed into a moralistic agenda that confirms and recreates elements of a Udenian tradition in Brazilian politics.

Due to the phenomenon of neo-Pentecostalism the Brazilian Protestantism was forgotten by the academy (?). As a result growth and changes of Protestantism in Brazil has gone unnoticed. Therefore this study aims to make a counterpoint to the ideal type of Protestant practice created by Max Weber and revisited by Rubem Alves called Protestantism doctrine Straight and therefore will discuss about a current Brasilian Protestantism or rather the past forties decades of this practice in Brasil. To Alves the whole of the Brazilian Protestantism was fundamentalist and moralist and troughout this text we will see that there is another Protestantism forming in Brazil and that we are calling the Rational Experience Protestantism in which the subjective experience of faith and the search for the rationality of the Christian faith are presents

Texto completo da fonteBackground: Moral distress is a concept first coined by Andrew Jameton. His definition of moral distress is when a person knows the correct moral action in a particular situation, but cannot act on it because of various organizational constraints. The moral distress can lead to both physical and mental symptoms for the nurse, the patient is also adversely affected if the nurse is experiencing moral stress. In order to deal with the moral stress, the nurse can use different coping strategies, which aims to deal with internal and / or external stresses. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate nurses' experiences of coping strategies in moral distress at their workplace. Method: A literature review with qualitative design was performed. A total of 12 scientific articles were used to obtain the result. The articles relevance and quality were reviewed by two independent reviewers. Result: Five categories that responded to the purpose were identified, which were; (1) distancing (2) denial (3) acceptance (4) leaving work and (5) conversation. Conclusion: Distancing is a recurring coping strategy nurse’s use. By distancing themself from the moral dilemma, the nurse protects herself from moral distress, but in the long run, this coping strategy has negative consequences for the nurse's self-image and health. Talking with their colleagues and managers about the situations that give rise to moral distress has proven to be a good coping strategy, however, it is important that the nurse feel that she is being heard and that the concerns the nurse’s expresses are being taken seriously if the conversation are going to be an effective coping strategy.

Texto completo da fonteBy having recourse to La Bruyère’s Characters, this work aims at reassessing a question that has been let aside by scholarly studies dedicated to « the philosophy as a way of life ». This question deals with the new relation between speech and action which is believed to have occurred in the 16th-17th centuries in the West. Through different hypotheses, we have chosen to examine the role played by the Machiavellian type of speech, or the logic of the domination. Being at the same time a way to access knowledge, a mode of self-constitution and a relationship to politeia, this logic is the place where the Modern knowledge gradually falls within and also turns us away from an access to La Bruyère’s text that can release its potential of ethical reformation – its psychagogy. In order to gain access to this potential, we have in turns to distance ourselves from the discursive logic of domination and to renew with this other relation to language, to oneself and to politeia that this logic constantly brings into disrepute, in other words to this Socrastic relation to be found in the philosophical production of the Antiquity to which the Characters refer to

Texto completo da fonteBackground: Moral distress is considered a common theme in health care today and one of the affected professions are nurses. Moral distress is experienced when an individual feels that they are acting incorrectly, but due to the situation feels incapable to act differently. This pressure can have great affect on health care and can influence both patients and nurses negatively. Safe care is one of the nurses’ key competences, therefore is the eradication of the moral distress and ensuring patient safety of great importance.Aim: To illuminate nurses’ experiences of moral distress.Method: The study was conducted as a qualitative literature review and its aim was answered by analyzing 13 articles with a qualitative approach. The study was created according to Polit & Beck’s (2014) seven steps for creation of a qualitative literature review. Results: Almost all nurses reported that they had a number of times experienced moral distress. Organizational defaults, ethical dilemmas and conflict between colleagues, were primary situations where moral distress appeared. The nurses’ personal experiences of the moral distress could entail a variety of emotional responses and a number of nurses thought that the moral distress had changed both them and the profession. Nurses answered to the moral distress differently, but both authors could clearly see two different behavioral patterns, a confrontational and an evasive behavior. Conclusion: Moral distress can be experienced in a variety of different situations and is likely to be experienced by most nurses. Moral distress is mostly experienced as an overwhelming feeling and it affects both their patients as well as themselves. The primary method to cope with the moral distress is through dialogue with others. Nurses experienced that the moral distress changed both themselves as the nursing profession. Many nurses sought organizational support.

Texto completo da fonteMoral stress affects the nurse and can be seen as a result of external factors. There is a growing demand that the nurse should be able to handle moral stressful situations. Through clinical supervision the nurse may be helped to verbalize her experiences. The aim of this study is to illustrate the way in which clinical supervision can help the nurse to deal with moral stress, focusing on the structure and content of clinical supervision. A literature study has been conducted. Ten articles have been reviewed and analyzed. To create an understanding for clinical supervision a theoretical framework has been used focusing on the structure and content of clinical supervision. The results show that the clinical supervision may affect the nursing staff’s moral stress, in both a positive and negative way, when the ethical competence of participants increases. Furthermore, it appears that staff sometimes chooses to turn to colleagues for support instead of organized clinical supervision. Ethical competence may increase through clinical supervision when increasing the participant's ability to reflect upon an ethical situation. However, this can harm the nurses’ ability to deal with future situations involving ethical issues when seeing a situation from a critical approach. Supervision, however, strengthens the nurses’ decision-making capacity and strengthens her confidence to act in ethically difficult situations.

Texto completo da fonteTaking as theoretical premises the political liberalism and the inner bounds of state action, this study aims to be a contribution to the critics of legal paternalism, as it brings to the current constitutional debate a still barely studied category. Legal paternalism exists if a state official influences someone to practice or to avoid conducts that could cause harm to self through government actions. Since the Constitution of 1988, fundamental rights- especially autonomy- have been taken seriously again. Gradually, the controversial moral issues have reached both the media and the Courts, requiring from interpreters a new hermeneutics. The moral reading of the constitution is the interpretative method which brings political morality to the center of Constitutional Law. As the Constitution of 1988 is built upon a highly abstract language, it is necessary to resort to abstract moral principles, which are used as limits to the powers of State. In a word, it is necessary to develop a moral reading of the Constitution which consecrate the main principle against paternalism: the State owes to each and every person equal respect and concern as autonomous rightsholder.

Texto completo da fonteThis study draws attention to how teachers reason when assessing moral dilemmas. The study's empirical data consist of four qualitative semi-structured interviews with teachers working with pupils in primary school years 4-6. The result from the analysis is presented in three parts. The first part is about teachers' view of ethics and the assessment of moral dilemmas. The second part shows that the teacher have slightly different perceptions when it comes to assessing a moral dilemma where the pupil argues against the value of the school. The third part draws attention to the difficulties the teachers experince when assessing the pupils' ethical knowledge. They argue about how developing a reasoning must be for certain grade and what they can accept as an ethical concept.

Texto completo da fonteThis thesis is composed of three parts : the first one examines the translation of Metamorphoses. The anonymous author of Ovide Moralisé can faithfully render the stories of metamorphoses the sight of which fascinates him as much as it fascinates Ovid. But he can subtly deflect his " hypotext " to prepare his moral commentaries. He also broadens the conception of metamorphosis to the whole universe : every human thing changes and dies. The second part sets out the functioning of " allegoresis " : it begins with concrete steps, which confer a rational literal meaning to the fable and lead in stages to the spiritual meanings, among which the " tropology " is privileged : since the things of this world are ephemeral, man must search for the way to the reunion with God. The " teaching " of metamorphosis leads to the glorification of Christ's figure, a mediator between man and God. The third part shows the author as an erudite Franciscan, who gives to his brothers who go along preaching a collection of material to illustrate Christian dogma. According to the precepts of Art of Memory, mythology offers strong images, easy to remember for the preachers and their audience

Texto completo da fonteGuion, Béatrice. "Pierre Nicole moraliste : l'humain en question". Paris 4, 1997. http://www.theses.fr/1997PA040229.
Texto completo da fonteMy thesis relates to Pierre Nicole’s moral writings (1625-1695). He was a member of the port-royal group and wrote many controversial works. He also left the “Essais de morale” which were widely read till the French Revolution. Against the advances of molinism and secular ethics, Nicole is concentrated on reasserting the basic principles of augustinism in theology and morals. My work studies the nature and the implications of this reassessment of traditional augustinism. Its purpose is to show how Nicole expresses the concerns of Christian consciousness in a period which was not only Augustinian but also Cartesian and whose main concern was man. The age-old legacy of Augustinian thought is altered both by Cartesian rationalism and by an approach which frees itself from theocentrism and gives priority to the human point of view. Nicole is more concerned by the consequences of dogmas for the daily life than by dogmas for the own sake: he plays an important part in the progress of Christian apologetics towards morals in the second half of the seventeenth century. Moreover, the practical concern of the moralist, who is willing to exercise an influence upon behaviors, makes him an accomplished practitioner of the form in his writings because their audience depends on it. In order to define the specificity of Nicole’s work it is also necessary to situate it in relation to the forms of the seventeenth century moral writings. My work, being at the point where the history of ideas and the history of forms converge, is strengthened by the conviction that one cannot be apprehended without the other

Texto completo da fonteIn this thesis, I intend to offer a new vision of Ivan Goncharov’s works (1812-1891), major Russian novelist of the XIXth century and author of the famous novel Oblomov. I analyse all the works of the novelist : A Common Story (1847), Oblomov (1859), the Frigate Pallas, the Ravine (1869) and some of his less known short stories. I try to show how one could consider Goncharov as a moralist. My thesis is organized around three major themes. Firstly, I address the fundamental role of the comic elements in Goncharov’s literary production as I focus my attention on the strong intertextuality between Goncharov and other major authors of the XIXth century, such as Pushkin or Gogol. My second part is dedicated to the question of food and the body in Goncharov’s creation. I ponder over the symbolic representation of meals and cooking throughout his works. I also discuss the construction of bodies in his literary production, and more specifically in his travel writing. Finally, I examine Goncharov as a « painter » of the Russian society as I study his rich diversity of portraits of women, his considerations on marriage and his strong criticism of human passions, a fundamental argument of my thesis which stands perfectly in line with this vision of Goncharov as a moralist

Texto completo da fonteMoral distress is something that nurses and auxiliary nurses struggle with every day at their workplace. Moral distress is defined as negative stress syndromes, which arises when a person can’t perform the action he or she intends to do, due to institutional conditions. The aim of this study was to examine the degree of moral distress among nurses and auxiliary nurses at their workplace. Data was collected by using a questionnaire at two different wards at a hospital in the south of Sweden. The result shows that both nurses and auxiliary nurses experience moral distress. What generated moral distress to a high extent among both nurses and auxiliary nurses was when the number of staff was so small that the quality of patient care was suffering. A significant difference was found between the han-dling of moral distress and the working experience among the informants. Nurses found it more difficult to relax at home related to moral distress. Further studies are needed to better understand what causes moral distress and the effects of it.

Texto completo da fonteObjective: To investigate the situations in which moral distress occurred in nurses in somatic care and how the perception of moral distress was influenced by the nurse's age and experience. Background: Moral distress among nurses arise when they know what should be done, but structural, organizational or exclusive economic factors are an obstacle to perform the right action. The effects of this can lead to poor self-esteem, depression, or leaving work.Method: A literature review by reviewing and processing ten quantitative scientific articles was conducted. Results: Nurses experienced moral distress in collaboration with other professions and cooperation within the profession. At futile care, which included, for example ineffective care where the doctor gave incompetent care, as well as in life support care perceived moral distress. Even in some ethical situations and savings that included staff shortages and cost savings, moral distress occured. The correlation between age and experience were also significant for the level of moral distress. Conclusion: There were several situations in which nurses experienced moral distress. The hospital care in today's society is to be conducted as cost effectively as possible, this affected the hospital environment adversely, resulting in moral distress. By becoming attentive to those situations in which the most moral distress is experienced, prevention may eventually reduce moral distress.

Texto completo da fonteBackground: There are internal and external demands on nurses who must make conscious choices. The choices must be based on individual care for each patient, be legally secure and at the same time be effective for both the ward and the organization. The demands set on nurses can become a psychological distress that can be seen as an internal conflict in the form of moral stress. Moral stress are the feelings and experiences that consist of a moral contradiction, where the person know the correct way to act but is limited to execute it because of organizational, structural and economic factors. Moral stress is based on the physiological phenomenon of stress, which is the body's survival reaction to external burden in the form of stressors. There are various controlling factors and guidelines that nurses should follow in healthcare in order to maintain a good and safe care. Objective: To illuminate nurses’ experience of moral stress.Method: A literature review of eleven qualitative studies that were generated by systematic database search and then reviewed and analysed. To support the method Goodman’s seven-step model was used to find and assess the relevant scientific literature. Results: After analysing data five themes were revealed: Lack of collaboration between professionals, organization that complicate nurses’ work, feelings of inadequacy, emotional reactions and increased support from colleagues. Conclusion: Moral stress is a globally occurring phenomenon which nurses’ express a variety of different experiences. Lack of collaboration between physicians and nurses combined with organizational difficulties leading to a feeling of inadequacy for nurses.

Texto completo da fonteBackground: Ethics and morality is something that is constantly present in the nurse's daily work. Moral distress occurs when a person knows how he/she wishes to act, but is prevented from performing his or hers actions. Aim: Identify situations in which nurses experience moral distress. Method: Literature review by analysis of 10 scientific articles. Results: It is above all the life-sustaining care, staff shortages, working with staffs that have inadequate skills and patient autonomy that create moral distress of nurses. When nurses experience moral distress the care of the patient might become deficient, since avoidance behaviour may occur. The moral stress appears to increase with work experience since the clinical eye tends to evolve over time. Stress increases when the nurses not feel that they are heard from the doctor for the symptoms observed in the patient. It is important that there are forums where the nurse can discuss the moral dilemmas, so the ethical climate at the work should be perceived more positive and generate less moral distress.
