Abstract The activity of Src-family kinases (SFKs), which phosphorylate immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motifs (ITAMs) upon receptor ligation, is a critical factor regulating myeloid cell activation. The SFK Lyn has roles in activating myeloid cells, by phosphorylating ITAMs, and also in inducing suppressive signaling via phosphatase activation. Alternative splicing of lyn mRNA produces two proteins, LynA and LynB, and emerging evidence from our lab and others suggests that LynA and LynB interact with different proteins and preferentially activate different signal cascades. In macrophages LynA is uniquely susceptible to rapid ubiquitin-mediated degradation and functions as a rheostat that regulates ITAM signal strength. Phosphorylation of tyrosine 32 in the unique region of LynA preferentially targets LynA for polyubiquitination by the E3 ligase c-Cbl. In contrast to macrophages, mast cells express little c-Cbl. Upon activation, LynA is not rapidly degraded in mast cells, and SFK-mediated signaling is amplified relative to macrophages. Previous studies of LynA have been hampered by knockout models that lack both LynA and LynB. To understand the role LynA plays in immune development and activation, we used CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing to generate novel mouse strains that express either LynA or LynB. Preliminary studies in these mice have demonstrated novel roles for LynA. Notably, LynA−/− mice have an enrichment in splenic dendritic cells and alveolar macrophages. Thus, LynA is not only an important regulator of myeloid cell activation, tuning cell-specific signaling thresholds, but also helps regulate the function of these cells. Further studies will investigate the impact of LynA deletion in myeloid inflammation sensing.

With the omnipresence of media in the digital age, understanding its impact on individuals' health information perception and behaviors has become paramount. This study presents the meticulous development and rigorous validation of the Media Influence on Health Information Perception and Behavior Scale (MIHIPBS) using the Content Validity Index (CVI) method. The scale development process comprised several critical phases, including item generation, expert panel formation, content validity assessment, and pilot testing. A panel of nine experts, encompassing diverse backgrounds such as psychology, public health, communication studies, and measurement development, rigorously examined each item's relevance to the construct of "Media Influence on Health Information Perception and Behavior." These experts assigned ratings on a 4-point Likert scale, ranging from "Not relevant" (1) to "Highly relevant" (4). To determine content validity, the study adhered to established recommendations for acceptable cut-off scores which were contingent upon the number of experts involved Lynn, Davis, Polit & Beck, and Polit et al.2006. Various validity indices, including the Item-Level Content Validity Index (I-CVI), Scale-Level Content Validity Index based on the Average Method (S-CVI/Ave), and Scale-Level Content Validity Index based on the Universal Agreement Method (S-CVI/UA), were meticulously calculated. The outcomes of the content validity assessment were resoundingly positive. All items within the MIHIPBS attained remarkably high I-CVI scores, significantly exceeding the established acceptable threshold. Moreover, the S-CVI/Ave, calculated as the mean of the I-CVI scores for all items, unequivocally demonstrated robust content validity (Hamie et al. Ozair et al., Lau et al., and Marzuki et al.2018. Of particular significance, the S-CVI/UA, representing the proportion of items achieving the highest relevance rating by all experts, decisively met the prescribed cut-off score. These findings unequivocally affirm the MIHIPBS as an exceptionally valid and comprehensive instrument for capturing the complex dynamics of media's influence on health information perception and behavior. The MIHIPBS emerges as an invaluable and validated tool poised to make substantial contributions to research, practice, and policymaking within the domains of health communication, media literacy, and public health. Its versatility extends to assessing the efficacy of media-based health interventions, evaluating the impact of media campaigns on health decision-making, and informing targeted health communication strategies. Future endeavors should explore opportunities for cross-cultural validation, longitudinal assessments, and adaptations to account for emerging media modalities.

EDITOR'S SUMMARYASIS&T president Lynn Silipigni Connaway announced the new executive director of ASIS&T, Lydia Middleton. Lydia joined ASIS&T ready to lead after Dick Hill's 27 years of service as executive director. Also announced are the keynote speakers for the 2017 Annual Meeting: Richard Marks, head of PlayStation Magic Lab at Sony Interactive Entertainment, and William Powers, best‐selling author and research scientist at MIT Media Lab. The Annual Meeting will also have an 80th Anniversary Welcome Reception and panel session, and work is underway for an interactive history exhibit at the meeting, coordinated by Kathryn La Barre. Lynn Silipigni Connaway was invited to spend April 26 through May 7 in Hong Kong as a visiting professor working with the master of library and information management program at the University of Hong Kong. Connaway and past president Nadia Caidi also attended the Council for Scientific Society Presidents in Washington, D.C., May 2017, and ASIS&T partnered with the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Earth Day Network for the March for Science.

Resumo:

The extremely thermophilic bacterium Thermus thermophilus HB27 synthesizes lysine through α-aminoadipate (AAA). In this study, a T. thermophilus gene encoding the enzyme that catalyses transamination of AAA was cloned as a mammalian kynurenine/AAA aminotransferase (Kat2) gene homologue. A T. thermophilus mutant with disruption of the Kat2 homologue required a longer lag phase for growth and showed slower growth in minimal medium. Furthermore, addition of AAA or lysine shortened the lag phase and improved the growth rate. The Kat2 homologue was therefore termed lysN. LysN recognizes not only 2-oxoadipate, an intermediate of lysine biosynthesis, but also 2-oxoisocaproate, 2-oxoisovalerate and 2-oxo-3-methylvalerate, intermediates of leucine, valine and isoleucine biosyntheses, respectively, along with oxaloacetate, a compound in the TCA cycle, as an amino acceptor. These results suggest multiple roles of LysN in several cellular metabolic pathways including lysine and branched-chain amino acid biosyntheses.

CURE courses were developed for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (D/HH) students in the Laboratory Science Technology program (Lynn et al. 2020) at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf of Rochester Institute of Technology. Notably, the developed CUREs enrolled all D/HH students and also fulfilled a requirement for the two-year degree program. Attending to accessibility, the courses were taught in American Sign Language and focused on best practices for working with D/HH students in the lab.

Resumo:

Lynx is an innovation project in Europe whose objective is to develop services for legal compliance. A legal knowledge graph is built over multilingual, multijurisdictional documents using semantic web technologies. A collection of services implementing natural language techniques enables better legal information retrieval, cross-lingual answering of questions and information discovery. Three use cases are discussed, as well as the overall impact of the project.

While sustainability issues take an ever-larger part in city planning, citizens aspirations toinclusion in projects rise. In France, the government encourages the development ofcollaboration between actors and the emergence of innovations in the creation ofsustainable neighbourhoods. These incentives allow for the development of projects thataim at being demonstrators of French know how. Through these large-scale projects,partnerships are created, thus leading to more inclusive projects and to the creation ofsynergies between actors of the creation of urban fabric. Through an in-depth study of one of these projects, this research aimed at assessing theoutcomes of the top down approach implemented by the government. The idea was tostudy the government that was implemented and its outcomes in terms of creation ofinnovation but also regarding citizen participation. To identify citizens’ aspirations forinclusion and for the creation of fitted housing solutions, in coherence with sustainabilityissues, some research about a successful participatory housing project was conducted. Through the implementation of a fitted governance system, collaboration between actorsfrom different backgrounds and with varying interests lead to the creation of a creativeprocess of innovation and to the development of many pilot projects. Through the analysisof these projects, it appeared that information and communication technologies are onetool to the implementation of a more efficient, of a more resilient city. However, theycannot be presented as one goal and need to take part of a bigger process with other toolsthat are necessary for the creation of new uses for urban dwellers. Though citizen inclusion is an aspiration from various actors of the production of the city,some limits to citizen power in a really framed process of project development wereraised. Despite a strong will, from various actors, there are still many obstacles to thecreation of fitted housing solutions that would meet the deepest expectations of citizens.

Au cours du XIXe siècle, le droit de la faillite institué comme un mécanisme de sanction des débiteurs professionnels faillis prend progressivement en compte la situation du débiteur ainsi que sa bonne ou sa mauvaise foi afin d’évaluer son degré de culpabilité. À Lyon, l’évolution de la norme de la faillite et de sa pratique le tribunal de commerce fait apparaître une prise en considération grandissante de l’humanité du débiteur, accompagnée parfois par une réforme légale impulsée par l’initiative des juges consulaires lyonnais. Ceux-ci prennent l’initiative d’instituer des mesures contra legem afin de protéger les commerçants de bonne foi victimes d’une conjoncture provoquant une crise économique majeure qui génère des faillites en cascade.Au lieu de mettre en place une réforme en profondeur du droit de la faillite réclamée par les praticiens, les docteurs, la jurisprudence ainsi que par les justiciables, le législateur n’institue que des mesures provisoires et palliatives. Son inertie renforce la conviction des juges consulaires lyonnais que leur pratique s’impose comme une solution appropriée pour réduire les conséquences néfastes de l’inaction du législateur non seulement sur la situation des commerçants faillis mais aussi sur la société et l’économie de la ville de Lyon
During the nineteenth century, the bankruptcy law instituted as a sanction mechanism of bankrupt debtors professionals has been gradually taking into account the debtor's situation and his good or bad faith in order to assess the degree of guilt.In Lyon, the evolution of the standard of bankruptcy and practice of the Commercial Court reveals a growing consideration of debtor’s humanity, sometimes accompanied by a legal reform promoted by the initiative of consular judges of Lyon. They take the initiative to institute measures contrary to the law to protect bona fide traders victims of a situation causing a major economic crisis that generates cascading bankruptcies.Instead of putting in place a comprehensive reform of bankruptcy law claimed by practitioners, doctors, case law and by litigants, the legislator establishes only temporary and palliative measures. Its inertia reinforces the conviction of consular judges of Lyon that their practice has established itself as an appropriate solution to reduce the adverse consequences of the inaction of the legislature not only on the situation of failed traders, but also on society and the economy of the city from Lyon

Les Leucémies Aigües Myéloides (LAM) représentent un groupe hétérogène d'hémopathies clonales caractérisées par un blocage de la différenciation du à des remaniements des facteurs de transcription, et par une prolifération incontrôlée de cellules leucémiques secondaires à l'activation abérrante de protéines clés de transmission des signaux. La voie de signalisation mTOR/S6K/4E-BP1, qui contrôle la traduction protéique, la prolifération, la croissance et l'apoptose, est activée constitutivement dans environ 70% des échantillons primaires de LAM. L'objectif de ce travail a été d'une part de caractériser les mécanismes moléculaires susceptibles de contribuer à l'activation aberrante de ce relais de signalisation et d'autre part d'étudier l'implication des tyrosines kinases dans les LAM. En comparaison des progéniteurs hématopoïétiques normaux de phénotype CD34+, nous avons démontré que les kinases de la famille Src (SFKs), particulièrement Lyn, sont constitutivement activées dans tous les échantillons primaires de LAM, y compris dans la fraction minoritaire CD34+ CD38- CD123+ enrichie en cellules souches leucémiques. L'utilisation d'un inhibiteur pharmacologique et d'un siRNA dirigé spécifiquement contre Lyn dans des cellules primaires de LAM a permis de démontrer que Lyn joue un rôle critique dans la physiopathologie des LAM, et régule notamment l'activité de la voie mTOR/S6K/4E-BP1. Ces travaux placent donc Lyn comme nouvelle cible thérapeutique potentielle dans le traitement des LAM. Nous avons également étudié l'implication possible de certaines voies de survie pouvant être à l'origine de l'activation de mTOR dans les cellules leucémiques, notamment la voie PI3K/Akt comme cela est bien documenté dans les tumeurs solides. .
Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a clonal hematopoietic disorder characterized by an accumulation of immature leukemic cells an by a block in differentiation. The molecular basis of AML is thougt to arise at the hematopoietic stem or committed progenitors level by the acquisition of at least two types of crucial cooperating mutations. Class I mutations, affecting receptor tyrosine kinases and key components of signalling pathways, conferring growth and proliferative advantages, are associated with class II mutations affecting transcription factors, leading to impaired normal differentiation program. The signalling pathway mTOR/S6K/4E-BP1, involved in the control of translation, growth and apoptosis, is found constitutively activated in about 70% of primary leukemic samples. The aim of this study was first to characterize the molecular mechanism of this constitutive activation patwhay and second to check tyrosine kinases involvement in AML. Compared to normal hematopoietic progenitors CD34+, we have shown that Src kinases family members (SFKs), especially Lyn, are constitutively overactivated in all primary leukemic samples tested, including the small contingent of CD34+ CD38- CD123+ cells which is thought to be the leukemic stem cell compartment. By using pharmacological and siRNA approaches, we were able to demonstrate that Lyn plays a major role in the AML pathophysiology, at least by regulating the mTOR/S6K/4E-BP1pathway activity. This work establish Lyn kinase as a relevant new therapeutic target in the treatment of AML. Then, we assessed the putative implication of several transduction pathways acting upstream of mTOR in AML, especially the PI3K/Akt patway as it has been largely described in solid tumors. Compared to normal hematopoietic progenitors, the PI3K/Akt pathway is strongly activated in AML as we found a high level of the PI3K products and the phosphorylation status of Akt on both threonine 308 (Thr 308) and serine 473 (Ser 473) residues. .

Abstract Jeryl Lynn Trade Mark challenges the current belief that the system of registration has been liberalized to such an extent that, provided the applicant can produce evidence of distinctiveness acquired through use, it is possible to overcome the obstacle of section 3(1)(a) of the Trade Marks Act 1994 (the 1994 Act). The trade mark, registered since 1995, was ‘Jeryl Lynn’ for medicinal and pharmaceutical preparations and substances and sanitary substances in class 5. The name was chosen in honour of Jeryl Lynn Hilleman from whom the original mumps virus was extracted and used to produce a live attenuated mumps vaccine; the patent for the vaccine had expired in the mid-1980s. The applicant for invalidation of the registration had produced from the respondents’ own vaccine a new strain of attenuated mumps, RIT 4385; the vaccine was marketed under the trade mark ‘Priorix’ and in the accompanying literature there was a reference to RIT 4385 as being ‘derived from Jeryl Lynn mumps strain’.

“El paraíso es para todos” es una película producida por Lynn Carone y Fernando Pericin, fruto de la combinación de tres proyectos previos en diálogo, derivados de la investigación de ambos y que contemplan temas sobre los cuerpos, los territorios y las ocupaciones urbanas. El video performance “Es muchas capas” de Lynn Carone y un artista amigo nació de la observación de un lugar y la rareza que causaba. Utilizaron un lugar específico para realizar el trabajo con foco en el racismo. El territorio físico fue un estímulo para las reflexiones sobre el racismo estructural y la búsqueda de reparación en torno a una posición antirracista. Para la performance del video, se consideró el concepto de especificidad del sitio, pensado como orientado al sitio, en el cual, según Miwon Kwon (1977), el trabajo no sería solo un “sustantivo/objeto”, sino un “verbo/proceso “, provocando la agudeza crítica, no solo física y fenomenológica, del espectador, sino también, a las condiciones ideológicas de esta experiencia, en este caso, la observación de la especificidad del nombre del restaurante “Senzala”, que significa “barrios esclavos”, ubicado en un barrio de clase media alta de São Paulo, Brasil. La obra “The Contemporary Gay” de Fernando Pericin nace de la indignación de los ataques a personas que se desvían del estándar de género y sexualidad en los últimos años, apoyados en reflexiones sobre el texto “¿Qué es contemporáneo?” de Giorgio Agamben. Según el informe del Grupo Gay de Bahía, 174 hombres homosexuales fueron víctimas de muerte violenta en Brasil en 2019. En tiempos de pandemia, reclamando su derecho a la protesta, Fernando utilizó las calles vacías como base y su cuerpo como apoyo para realizar una actuación solitaria para expresar su indignación y provocar reflexiones sobre las decisiones y declaraciones del actual gobierno sobre la población LGBTQIA+. En 2021, Lynn Carone y Fernando Pericin promovieron la continuación de un trabajo iniciado en 2019, cuando conocieron, entrevistaron y fotografiaron a una mujer transexual en su lugar de trabajo, dando como resultado el video “Transfly”, que provoca reflexiones sobre la investigación de los artistas, como el lugar y sus especificidades, prejuicios, opresión, reencuentros y reconexiones. Las reflexiones sobre las tres obras proporcionaron un (re)encuentro entre los artistas y su poética y dieron como resultado el video experimental “El paraíso es para todos”, como forma de expresión y elaboración de un pensamiento visual que incluye las vivencias en los territorios de la ciudad, las especificidades de los lugares como propulsores cuestionadores y las posiciones personales en la micro política asumidas como postura de vida y transformación personal, repensando las formas de relación. Los registros revisitados como archivos permitieron relecturas en collages y superposiciones de imágenes y sonidos, ubicando las tres producciones en un escenario que transita entre la realidad y la pesadilla, dando continuidad a las discusiones de la obra en proceso. Priscila Arantes (2015, p. 120) nos ayuda a comprender este camino cuando dice que “la obra de arte contemporánea es, en efecto, un archivo en un sentido muy particular: una obra-archivo abierta a innumerables desarrollos, lecturas y ‘narrativas múltiples”.

En Europa las preocupaciones del planeamiento urbanístico han evolucionado: el ámbito rural se descubre como sede de valores y estructuras que la cultura urbanística desea ver preservados. En el pensamiento urbanístico francés del s. XX se aprecia esa evolución. Con la particularidad de que en la cultura de ese país la campiña no solo representa un entorno de producción agraria o una referencia artístico-literaria constante, sino también una seña de identidad histórica, pues la distribución de la propiedad agraria actual se remonta al legado de la Revolución. El trabajo estudia esa evolución a tenor de las directrices emanadas para abordar las intervenciones en la aglomeración urbana de Lyon, un área con una larga historia de planeamiento, a menudo señalada como ejemplar. In Europe, concerns regarding urban planning have evolved: rural areas are now recognized as a seat of value or principles and structures that urban culture wishes to see preserved. This change is reflected in 20th century french urban planning. In France, countryside represents not only an environment of agricultural production or a recurrent artistic and literary reference, but also a sign of historical identity, as the distribution of the current landownership dates back to the legacy of the Revolution. This paper examines these developments in accordance with planning guidelines issued to tackle operations in the urban agglomeration of Lyon, often viewed as exemplary.

En Europa la preocupación por el planeamiento urbanístico ha evolucionado notablemente: el ámbito rural se descubre como ámbito de valores y estructuras que la cultura urbanística desea dotar de protagonismo. Este trabajo se interesa por la evolución de las teorías, modelos e instrumentos del planeamiento territorial para ordenar el suelo rural en Cataluña, Francia e Italia. La aproximación pretende resumir un siglo de recorrido en el tratamiento del suelo rural comparando los instrumentos de tres casos de estudio: la región metropolitana de Barcelona, la aglomeración urbana de Lyon y la provincia de Bolonia. Los tres son regiones con una larga tradición de planeamiento, en muchos momentos ejemplar. In Europe, concerns regarding urban planning have evolved notably: rural areas are now recognized as a field of values and structures that planning culture wishes to bring to front. This paper examines the evolution of common meanings, terms and tools referring rural land in Catalonia, France and Italy’s Regional Planning. The approach resumes a century’s overview on rural land treatment and compares instruments used in three study cases: metropolitan region of Barcelona, urban agglomeration of Lyon and the province of Bologna, regions with a long planning tradition, often considered as exemplary.

Sumergirse en el agua, reflejo simbólico de virtudes, es volver a las fuentes de la vida para regenerarse, para saciar esa sed de conocimiento y también para recibir los rayos del sol que en ella se reflejan, como es el caso de la lionesa Pernette du Guillet quien, a diferencia de Louise Labé, ha persistido en la memoria de los hombres no sólo por su talento natural sino gracias a la irradiación de la que la inundó Maurice Scève, «son Jour», jefe incuestionable del Círculo de Lyon, en el que las mujeres poetas del Renacimiento tuvieron un papel de primer orden.La mayoría de sus «Rymes» responden a una especie de diálogo amoroso entre ambos en el que el elemento líquido tiene un papel primordial. Pernette se presenta tan límpida y pura «comme l'eau de la claire fontaine», mientras que en el fondo anima a su poeta a todo lo contrario, produciéndose, a veces, un auténtico diálogo de sordos: ambos se aman con un amor sincero y mutuo pero no de la misma manera.Analizaremos esos aspectos confrontando los versos de Scève y los de Pernette, en especial su Elegía II, para confirmar la oposición formal entre las ensoñaciones masculinas y femeninas.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.4995/XXVColloqueAFUE.2016.2913

Resumen: Desde las páginas de L'Esprit Nouveau y al calor del cine, Elie Faure bautizará como "cineplástica" la consecución de imágenes al ritmo de la música, en un discurso paralelo al del método Dalcroze en la danza. Le Corbusier, Albert Jeanneret y Pierre Chenal propondrán dos experiencias fílmicas relacionadas con dicha denominación: "Batir" y "L'Architecture d'aujourd´hui", para las que se realizarán varias maquetas ex-profeso cuyas cualidades estaban pensadas para su visión en la pantalla. Esta especificidad se hará más compleja en el filme del modelo de la propuesta para el Palacio de los Soviets. Le Corbusier mostrará un proceso cinético consistente en el des-montaje del objeto, un recorrido inverso al de la construcción real, lo que permite al espectador poder familiarizarse desde el comienzo con el conjunto terminado. A partir de ahí, como si de un "ecorché" se tratara, se mostrarán sus entrañas: una lección de anatomía arquitectónica que finaliza con el vacío del solar del Salvador dominado por los brillos del gran arco de acero soviético-"stal" en ruso- reflejado en el Moskva. Este recurso cinético emparenta con las teorías del "montaje como conflicto" de Sergei Eisenstein, a través de una maqueta que se presenta, además, como comprobación de la efectividad de la forma ante las ondas acústicas, en la línea de las realizadas por ingenieros como Gustave Lyon. Se consigue así conjugar, a través de la maqueta, espacio, movimiento y sonido. El germen de una arquitectura acústica. Abstract: From the pages of L'Esprit Nouveau and inspired by films, Elie Faure coined the term "cineplástique" to refer to the combination betweenimages and music, similarly to theMethode Dalcroze in dancing. Le Corbusier, Albert Jeanneret and Pierre Chenal proposed two filmic experiences related to this new concept- "Batir" and "L'Architecture d'aujourd´hui". Several models were made specifically for these films and designed to be viewed on screen. This feature became more complex in the film of the proposal model for Palace of Soviets. Le Corbusier displayed a process consisting onthede-montageof the object, reversing thus the path to the actual building, which allows the viewer to become familiar from the start with the finished piece. Thereafter ,as if it was an "écorché", their insides are displayed, featuring an architectural anatomy lesson which ends with the empty site of Salvador, where the brightness of the large steel arch ("Stal" in Russian)is reflected in the Moskva River. This filming resource is related to Sergei Eisenstein's theories of " montage as conflict", illustrated by a scale model that also verifies the effectiveness of form with respect to acoustic waves, in line with those made by engineers such as Gustave Lyon. Therefore, the combination of movement, space and sound is achieved through the architectural model. That is the seed of acoustic architecture. Las economías de aglomeración están transformando el mapa de distribución del empleo en las regiones metropolitanas y están condicionando los cambios en sus estructuras urbanas. Uno de sus más claros efectos es el impacto positivo sobre la productividad de las empresas, que buscan localizarse en un lugar específico como un instrumento competitivo para sus procesos productivos, interactuando así con los procesos de desarrollo del territorio. Estos fenómenos se estudian en la Provincia de Barcelona para el periodo 1991-2001, estudiando los sectores económicos intensivos en conocimiento ―sectores definidos por la OCDE, como Industrias de alta tecnología y servicios de conocimiento alto― por su intrínseca relación con la existencia de economías de aglomeración, además de las industrias textiles, actividad que históricamente ha caracterizado el desarrollo económico de esta región. El estudio se ha desarrollado en dos etapas; en la primera se estudia el proceso de transformación del mercado del empleo en los sectores y el periodo antes definidos, a partir de la información de los lugares de trabajo localizados (LTL) por municipio, de los censos estatales de 1991 y 2001 del Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE). En la segunda etapa se ha hecho un análisis sobre los factores clave surgidos desde los ámbitos de la planificación pública que han propiciado la consolidación de estos sectores económicos. Es por ello que, mediante entrevistas personales en profundidad a técnicos de desarrollo económico y empresarial de algunos de estos municipios, se han detectado y analizado aquellas políticas, instrumentos y/o medidas que han sido implementadas por iniciativa de las propias entidades municipales y organizaciones supramunicipales, con el objetivo de consolidar dicho proceso. Los resultados sugieren que efectivamente ha habido un avance significativo en el crecimiento de la actividad económica de los sectores estudiados en la Provincia, y que este crecimiento responde en algunos de los casos estudiados a las políticas locales de promoción económica desarrolladas por las administraciones. Esta ponencia se presenta como parte de los resultados obtenidos en el proyecto CAEE The case for agglomeration economies in Europe Targeted Analysis 2013/2/1 del Programa ESPON 2013 de la Unión Europea, y en el que han participado, además de la Universidad Politécnica de Catalunya, la University of Manchester, la National University of Ireland y la Ecole Normale Supérieure Lettres Sciences Humaines, de Lyon. Agglomeration economies are transforming the map of distribution of employment in the metropolitan areas and are affecting the changes in urban structures. One of the clearest effects is the positive impact on productivity of firms that seek to locate in a specific place as a competitive tool for the productive processes, interact with the processes of regional development. These phenomena are studied in the Province of Barcelona for the period 1991-2001, studying the economic sectors in knowledge-intensive sectors defined by the OECD as high-tech industries and high-knowledge services for its intrinsic relation with the existence of economies agglomeration, in addition to the textile industry, an activity that has historically characterized the economic development of this Region. The study was conducted in two stages: the first examines the transformation of the employment market in the sectors and the period defined above, from the information workplace located (LTL) by municipality, the censuses of 1991 and 2001 the National Statistics Institute (INE). In the second stage has been an analysis of key factors arising from the fields of public planning which led to the consolidation of these sectors. That is why, through personal interviews in depth technical and business economic development of some of these municipalities have been detected and analyzed those policies, instruments and / or measures that have been implemented at the initiative of their own supra-municipal entities and organizations with the aim of strengthening this process. The results suggest that there has indeed been significant progress in the growth of economic activity in the sectors studied in the Province, and that this growth response in some of the cases to local economic promotion policies developed by governments. This paper is presented as part of the results obtained in the project CAEE The Case for Agglomeration Economies in Europe Targeted Analysis 2013/2/1 ESPON 2013. Ce cahier documente l’élaboration du plan de prévention des risques technologiques (PPRT) de la vallée de la chimie lyonnaise, depuis sa mise en chantier en 2005 jusqu’à sa mise à l’enquête publique en avril 2016. Il s’intéresse plus particulièrement au travail concret des acteurs locaux qui ont participé à ce processus au long cours, aux structures d’échange qu’ils ont créées pour produire les informations dont ils ont eu besoin et débattre du contenu des mesures à définir, aux arguments qu’ils ont élaborés afin de faire valoir leurs points de vue, défendre leurs intérêts et peser sur les décisions qui scandent les différentes étapes de cette procédure. Cette immersion au cœur de la «fabrique» du PPRT est notamment l’occasion de découvrir que si la prévention des risques industriels est souvent dans un rapport antagonique avec le développement économique, elle agit ici comme le moteur d’un important projet de redynamisation de la plateforme industrielle du sud de Lyon en même temps que la condition du maintien de l’industrie lourde sur ce site très urbanisé.

La recherche présentée ici s’intéresse aux processus de qualification et de déqualification d’espaces industriels situés en milieu urbain. En effet, à partir de l’étude des arbitrages entre recherche de sécurité et développement urbain dans le contexte particulier d’un site industriel sinistré, il s’agit de voir en quoi la catastrophe s’impose comme un temps brutal, et parfois irréversible, de déqualification d’un espace dédié jusque-là à l’industrie. Ces travaux entendent montrer comment s’opèrent les arbitrages en situation de crise, la prégnance de la catastrophe et de l’émotion qu’elle suscite dans les décisions à court terme. L’un de leurs intérêts réside dans la mise en perspective de deux cas de sites sinistrés. Il s’agit tout d’abord du pôle chimique sud-toulousain, dévasté par l’explosion dans l’usine d’engrais AZF le 21 septembre 2001. Cet accident a entraîné la mort de 31 personnes, des blessures pour de nombreuses autres, et de multiples dégâts matériels dans toute la ville de Toulouse. L’autre cas concerne l’incendie du dépôt pétrolier Shell dans le port industriel Édouard Herriot de Lyon en juin 1987, ayant causé la mort de deux personnes.
