Vehicle-to-everything services are in the implementation phase, and automakers agree that V2X would improve the safety-critical applications already deployed. 3GPP Release 12 introduces LTE-V for V2V and V2I services. The LTE-V is extended to C-V2X to support V2N. Because of the challenge of high mobility in the V2X system, cutting-edge technologies, such as SDN and small cell in 5G networks, pave the way to the next generation of vehicular networks. SDN is a network technology concept that divides the data and control planes. The OpenFlow protocol is used for communication between the control layer and the network layer in SDN. Different from wireless traditional cellular base stations, small cells are lower-power cell sites that are deployed every few blocks. Small cells can transmit data using mid- and high-band spectrums. Small cell-linked road side unit (RSU) is considered a key enabling technology because it has the capability to create a logical cluster platform residing at the edge of the network, which provides high computation performance. Accordingly, we consider a novel distributed software-defined small cell-linked road side unit vehicular network architecture (diSRsVN). Based on diSRsVN, logical software-defined on-board wireless vehicle, and topology discovery over diSRsVN are presented. The proposed architecture is evaluated under an omnet++ network simulator. The simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed architecture, which improves the packet delivery ratio and minimizes end-to-end delay.

The key attributes envisioned for LTE-Advanced pertaining to 5G Networks are ubiquitous presence, device convergence, massive machine connectivity, ultrahigh throughput and moderated carbon footprint of the network and the user equipment actuated by offloading cellular data traffic and by enabling device to device communication. The present method of mobility management and addressing as the authors have foreseen in LTE Advanced can solve some issues of cellular traffic backhaul towards the access and core network by actuating a local breakout and enabling communication directly between devices. But most of the approaches look forward towards an enhancement in the radio resource allocation process and prone to interference. Besides, most of these proposals delve in Device to Device (D2D) mode initiation from the device end, but no research has so far addressed the concept of a network initiated D2D process, which can optimise the channel utilisation and network operations further. In their attempt to knot these loose ends together, the auhtors furnish the concept of WISDOM (Wireless Innovative System for Dynamic Operating Mega communications) (Badoi Cornelia-I., Prasad N., Croitoru V., Prasad R., 2011) (Prasad R., June 2013) (Prasad R.,December 2013) and SMNAT (Sanyal, R., Cianca, E. and Prasad,R.,2012a) () () () (. Further, the authors explore how SMNAT (Smart Mobile Network Access Topology) can engage with WISDOM in cooperative communication to actuate D2D communication initiated by the device or the network. WISDOM is an architectural concept for 5G Networks based on cognitive radio approach. The cognition, sustained by adaptation techniques, is a way to provide communication, convergence, connectivity, co-operation, and content, anytime and anywhere. Though D2D communication using a dedicated spectrum in multi cell environment is possible through advanced network coding or by use of fractional frequency reuse, but physical proximity of the 2 devices is still a key requisite. In this paper the authors will discuss SMNAT which employs physical layer addressing to enable D2D communication agnostic to the spatial coordinates of the devices.

As a promising application for autonomous driving, vehicle platooning aims at increasing traffic throughput, improving road safety, and reducing air pollution and fuel consumption. However, frequent traffic perturbations will bring more fuel consumption because vehicles driving in a platoon require more control to ensure safe driving, especially in high-density scenes. In this paper, considering the traffic perturbations and high-density scenes, we integrate communication and control systems to reduce the fuel consumption of a platoon. By obtaining the velocities of multiple vehicles ahead through a long-term evolution-vehicle (LTE-V) network, we propose a modified distributed model predictive control (DMPC) method to smooth traffic perturbations and handle the constraints of vehicle state and control. In addition, considering a limited number of uplink channels that can be reused in the platoon and the uncertainty of wireless channels, a radio resource allocation optimization problem in the LTE-V network is modeled. This problem is solved in two steps including maximum vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) broadcast distance and minimum weight matching. This resource allocation scheme increases the platoon-based V2V broadcast distance while ensuring the ergodic capacity requirement of the cellular user (CUE) uplink communication and the reliability of platoon-based V2V communication. Simulation results show that the proposed method improves fuel efficiency compared to the existing schemes.

Broadband Wireless Access is a strategic opportunity for mobile operators which aim to provide connectivity in digital divide areas, in order to accelerate speed of deployment and save in installation costs. This paper presents an innovative approach to access the end user, relying on infrastructural integration of femtocellular technology with existing cabled network. Usually, the adoption of Femtocell Access Points, operating in the licensed cellular bands typically designed to be used in SOHO, improves the radio coverage and the building penetration of the existing mobile networks, based on macrocells. In the proposed solution, the peculiar functionality of femtocells is further improved using a MATV/SMATV cabled infrastructure which facilitates the signal connection inside the building. The potentiality of the solution is even more evident, taking into account the growing interest towards the possible deployment of new mobile technologies, like LTE in both the last portion of the UHF band V and the GSM frequency band, resulting from the re-farming process.

<p class="Abstract"><span lang="EN-US">Moving is the key to modern life. Most things are in moving such as vehicles and user mobiles, so the need for high-speed wireless networks to serve the high demand of the wireless application becomes essential for any wireless network design. The use of web browsing, online gaming, and on-time data exchange like video calls as an example means that users need a high data rate and fewer error communication links. To satisfy this, increasing the bandwidth available for each network will enhance the throughput of the communication, but the bandwidth available is a limited resource which means that thinking about techniques to be used to increase the throughput of the network is very important. One of the techniques used is the spectrum sharing between the available networks, but the problem here is when there is no available channel to connect with. This encourages researchers to think about using scheduling as a technique to serve the high capacity on the network. Studying scheduling techniques depends on the Quality-of-Service (QoS) of the network, so the throughput performance is the metric of this paper. In this paper, an improved Best-CQI scheduling algorithm is proposed to enhance the throughput of the network. The proposed algorithm was compared with three </span><span lang="MS">user scheduling algorithms to evaluate the throughput performance which are Round Robin (RR), Proportional Fair (PF), and Best-CQI algorithms. The study is performed under Line-of-Sight (LoS) link at carrier frequency 2.6 GHz to satisfy the Vehicular Long Term Evolution (LTE-V) with the high-speed scenario. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the throughput performance of the other algorithms.</span></p>

Background: With the tremendous increase in the usage of smart meters for industrial/ household purposes, their implementation is considered a crucial challenge in the Internet of Things (IoT) world, leading to a demand for emerging 5G technology. In addition, a large amount of data has to be communicated by smart meters efficiently, which needs a significant enhancement in bandwidth. The power amplifier (PA) plays a major role in deciding the efficiency and bandwidth of the entire communication system. Among the various modes of PAs, a newly developed Class-J mode PA has been proven to achieve high efficiency over a wide bandwidth by maintaining linearity. Methods: This paper proposes a Class-J mode PA design methodology using a CGH40010F-GaN device that operates at a 3.5 GHz frequency to meet the requirements of 5G wireless communication technology for the replacement of existing 4G/LTE technology used for advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) in smart grids. This research's main objective is to design the proper matching networks (M.Ns) to achieve Class-J mode operation that satisfies the bandwidth requirements of 5G smart grid applications. With the target impedances obtained using the load-pull simulation, lumped element matching networks are analyzed and designed in 3 ways using the ADS EDA tool. Results: The simulation results reveal that the proposed Class-J PA provides a maximum drain efficiency (D.E) of 82%, power added efficiency (PAE) of 67% with 13 dB small-signal gain at 3.5 GHz, and output power of 40 dBm (41.4 dBm peak) with a power gain of approximately 7 dB over a bandwidth of approximately 400 MHz with a 28 V power supply into a 50 Ω load. Conclusion: The efficiency and bandwidth of the proposed Class-J PA can be enhanced further by fine-tuning the matching network design to make it more suitable for 5G smart meter/grid applications.

Vehicular networks are a class of mobile networks allowing vehicles to communicate with each other in the context of high spatial mobility, as well as with cellular networks and communication networks deployed on the road infrastructure. In order to support Level 5 autonomous vehicle communications, these networks need to provide a QoS that addresses the time-critical constraints of communications while ensuring a high level of integrity of the data exchanged. The LTE technology, used in cellular mobile networks with a strict QoS, has been selected by 3GPP (Release 14) for communication in vehicular networks under the reference LTE-V2X/ cellular V2X. Release 14 introduces two modes (3,4) of LTE communication specifically designed for V2V communication. In mode 3, radio channel selection is managed by the eNodeB base station. In Mode 4, vehicles select their radio resources autonomously regardless of any cellular network coverage. In the literature, different resource allocation algorithms for modes 3 and 4 have been proposed. In the first part of the thesis, we focus on mode 3 addressing the requirements of monitoring level 5 autonomous vehicles through the infrastructure deployed on the road and in the Cloud. An exhaustive study of the existing proposals in the literature shows that the majority of the proposed solutions only deal with periodic messages (non-safety e.g. CAM) while ensuring a minimum of security. Therefore, we introduced aperiodic messages (safety ex. DENM) which are generated in critical situations (accident, traffic jam). We proposed a resource allocation policy based on a priority system with a strict guarantee of minimum capacity for critical applications and a dynamic sharing of the remaining capacity with other applications. We also proposed a new resource reuse technique for both types of messages (critical and less critical) that allows efficient use of network capacity while satisfying the requirements of critical applications without affecting less critical applications.LTE-V technology presents an important step towards the V2X/5G network. This 5G network offers, through URLLC, high integrity and low latency for real-time critical applications. Furthermore, with the concept of "Network Slicing", the functional architecture of the 5G network offers the portability of the vehicular network with its services alongside other service networks within the 5G mobile network. We have chosen to integrate the 5G vehicular network architecture in the same slice at the access network level which allows to benefit from the statistical gain in terms of radio resources utilization. We focused on the MAC and physical NR layers. We studied the dynamic allocation of radio resources between critical URLLC communications and streaming communications carried in the same Slice. The scheduler used for resource allocation is specified to dynamically manage spectral resources between critical URLLC flows and streaming flows exchanged between vehicles and application servers. We proposed several statistical models of exchanged flows and analyzed by simulation the QoS offered in the access network to critical/streaming flows. We have also proposed a quasi-exact Markovian analytical model of the MAC/Physical layer traversal of the URLLC flow with the objective of dimensioning an admission control mechanism (CAC) of the critical flows in the slice and to guarantee the QoS required by these flows

Tato práce je rozdělena do šesti kapitol. První kapitola vysvětluje rozdíly mezi fyzickou vrstvou uplinků systémů LTE a LTE Advanced, zkoumá charakteristiky kanálu komunikace D2D v rámci sítě LTE Advanced, a navrhuje mechanismy optimalizace interferencí. Rovněž je v práci prezentována struktura softwarově definované rádiové platformy, která může být využita pro vyhodnocení rádiových kanálů. Druhá kapitola hodnotí a porovnává výkony uplinkové části fyzické vrstvy systému LTE a LTE Advanced. Šestá kapitola uzavírá tezi a shrnuje závěry.

"parties working towards the fulfilment of the common objective of securing the sale and delivery of the goods from the seller to the buyer. In a typical contract of this kind, the seller will arrange for shipment of the goods through the medium of a carrier, the carrier may have arranged for the goods to be unloaded at their destination by a firm of stevedores. Moreover, the transaction may have been financed under the terms of a commercial credit, which will involve the participation of banks acting on behalf of the buyer and the seller. In this network of contractual arrangements, it is always possible that one party may perform a duty he already owes to another party in the network and it is quite possible that this performance may be regarded as consideration for a promise made by one of the other parties to the network. In New Zealand Shipping Co Ltd v AM Satterthwaite & Co Ltd, the terms of a bill of lading stated that the carrier was not responsible for loss or damage to the cargo unless the action was brought within one year of the date on which loss or damage occurred. The bill further provided that the same immunity should extend to the carrier’s servants, agents and independent contractors. The carrier was a wholly owned subsidiary of the stevedores who unloaded the ship in New Zealand. In the course of unloading a drill owned by the consignee, damage was caused by the stevedores who were then sued for their negligence more than a year from the date on which damage was caused. The principal issue was whether the stevedores were entitled to the protection of the immunity from suit provided for in the bill of lading. Standard commercial practice in this type of contract indicated that the consignee should be insured against transit risks, including damage resulting from the process of unloading the cargo. However, a literal application of the doctrine of privity of contract suggested that the stevedores were not parties to the bill of lading with the result that they might still be liable for the damage to the cargo caused by their negligence. In a supreme example of judicial pragmatism expounding market-realist considerations, Lord Wilberforce, expressing the majority view of the panel, was able to construct a contract between the stevedores and the consignee, based on a promise by the consignee to exempt the stevedores from liability if they were to fulfil their contractual obligation to the carrier to unload the ship on its arrival in New Zealand. On the issue of consideration, Lord Wilberforce observed: New Zealand Shipping Co Ltd v AM Satterthwaite & Co Ltd, The Eurymedon [1975] AC 154, PC, p 167". In Sourcebook on Contract Law, 173–75. During the last years, many research efforts in e-learning were focused on developing new content delivery algorithms able to improve the quality of the learning process from content distribution point of view. This is a pressing problem as an increasing number of users are accessing learning content from mobile devices via wireless networks. E-learning involves multiple activities (i.e. web browsing, video and audio streaming, interactive voice calls and ftp background traffic exchange) and various applications that are generating a rich traffic mix. Managing traffic flows is a difficult problem, especially when they are delivered over wireless networks. This is because wireless technologies have limited radio resources and are highly susceptible of being affected by environmental factors, traffic load, number of clients and their mobility patterns. Additionally delivering multimedia traffic with large bandwidth requirements and high sensitivity to loss and delay variations in these wireless environments at high quality levels constitutes significant challenge. Moreover if the end goal is learning and involves users with various profiles, there is an important pressure in developing excellent adaptive solutions to distribute the multimedia content. The paper will describe in detail a novel solution for adaptive multimedia content delivery over wireless networks, the Dynamic Quality-Oriented Adaptation Scheme (DQOAS) which focuses on mobile e-learning. The proposed algorithm concentrates on performing multimedia content management in accordance with end-user learning profile, including their preferences and network conditions. By using DQOAS the end-user quality of experience (QoE) during learning process is improved, as shown in previous papers that investigates the benefits of the algorithm when IEEE802.11 networks are used. The paper presents also the behavior of DQOAS for multimedia content delivery in next generation networks, and in particular over Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks. LTE is an all-IP network technology standardised by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) in Release 8 which uses new multiple access schemes on the air interface. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) is used in the downlink and Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) is employed in the uplink to fulfil all the ambitious requirements for data rate, spectrum efficiency, latency, and capacity. Another important technique used is Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) that involves using multiple transmitters and receivers to achieve higher bit rates and improved coverage. An important aspect in LTE is Quality of Service (QoS) support. The 3GPP QoS concept is based on traffic differentiation and prioritization of data flows, using network-initiated bearers in conjunction with simple QoS profiles based on QoS Class Identifiers (QCI). This paper proposes a new QoS delivery parameter mapping which complements LTE QoS class mapping, most beneficial for the case of e-learning traffic mix, in order to obtain higher end-user QoE levels when used in conjunction with DQOAS. The proposed solution improves the overall QoE for the end-user. The paper will be structured as follows. Section II will present the technical aspects and the studies performed by researchers regarding LTE QoS parameters and scheduling in case of traffic mix connections for both downlink and uplink. Section III will describe the DQOAS algorithm. Section IV will present the functioning of the algorithm followed by test results in section V. Conclusions will be drawn in section VI.

<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">The automotive industry has seen accelerating demand for electrified transportation. While the complexity of conventional ICE vehicles has increased, the powertrain still largely consists of a mechanical system. In contrast, vehicle architectures in electrified transportation are a complex integration of power electronics, batteries, control units, and software. This shift in system architecture impacts the entire organization during new product development, with increased focus on high power electronic components, energy management strategies, and complex algorithm development. Additionally, product development impact extends beyond the vehicle and impacts charging networks, electrical infrastructure, and communication protocols. The complex interaction between systems has a significant impact on vehicle safety, development timeline, scope, and cost. A systems engineering approach, with emphasis on requirements definition and traceability, helps ensure decomposition of top level requirement for subsystem development as well as compatibility between systems. This paper addresses common methodologies and tools within the systems engineering discipline to overcome integration complexity for the E-Mobility sector. Focal points of the systems engineering discipline, including architecture, requirement definition, and integration, are examined in the context of overall product lifecycle. Impact on functional safety is a key consideration, which is integrated into every phase of product development in accordance with ISO 26262. Systems engineering is an essential role for integration of subsystem and component level activities into a coherent framework using the V-model for product development.</div></div>

This report presents results of upland vegetation and soil monitoring of semi-arid grasslands at three Parks by the Southern Colorado Plateau Inventory and Monitoring Network (SCPN) from 2007?2021. The purpose is to compare and contrast five grassland ecological sites and examine how they have changed during the first 15 years of monitoring. Crews collected data on composition and abundance of vegetation, both at the species level and by lifeform (e.g., perennial grass, shrub, forb) and soil aggregate stability and soil texture at 150 plots within five target grassland/shrubland communities delineated using NRCS ecological site (ecosite) classification (30 plots per ecosite). Soils in plots at Petrified Forest NP and Chaco Culture NHP were deeper than those at Wupatki NM. Undifferentiated soil crust comprised the largest component of the soil surface, except at Wupatki where surface gravel dominated. Cover of biological soil crust (cyanobacteria, lichen, and moss) was low. Soil aggregate stability was moderate. From 2007?2021, SCPN crews identified 283 unique plant species. Overall live foliar cover ranged from 12-24%. Four of five ecological sites were dominated by C4 grass species (>70% of total live foliar cover). Shrubs co-dominated at one site (WUPA L) and forbs were an overall small component of total vegetation cover but contributed most of the diversity in these sites. Less than 4% of species detected were nonnative. Russian thistle (Salsola tragus) was the most frequently sampled nonnative, occurring in > 50% of plots at Wupatki in the volcanic upland ecological site. Cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) was the second most common invasive species but occurred in < 10% of the plots at all ecological sites. Vegetation cover was modeled using Bayesian hierarchical models and included seasonal climatic water deficits, year effects and topographic variables as covariates. Models revealed significant negative time trends (i.e., changes over time that were not explained by changes in seasonal deficit covariates included) in some modeled responses, particularly in the cover of perennial grass at all five ecological sites. Time trends in shrub and forb responses were mixed. Species richness showed variable effects by ecosite, decreasing at CHCU S, and increasing at PEFO S and WUPA V. Modeled responses were influenced by climate covariates, but direction of these effects varied. The most consistent effects were that greater July water stress and higher accumulated growing degree days (i.e., warmer spring temperatures) increased cover of perennial grasses and shrubs during the same year. However, greater water stress in the spring had a negative effect on many responses as expected. Decreasing cover of perennial grass and increasing cover of shrubs and weedy forbs has been predicted for southwestern grasslands in response to increasing aridification due to anthropogenic climate change. Perennial grass trends reported here correspond with these predictions with mixed results on shrub and forb community trends. Continued drought conditions will likely exacerbate negative changes in these systems.
