Based on hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol (E2), and anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH), the antral follicle is explored. The expression of count (AFC) in females at lofty elevation and its clinical significance are analyzed. A total of 82 females in lofty elevation areas and in low-elevation areas who received health checks from April 2020 to May 2021 are selected as the lofty elevation set and the low-elevation set, respectively. In addition, 76 females are served as the routine set. By comparing the serum HIF-1α standards, the standards of sex hormone indexes FSH, LH, and E2, and the expressions of AMH and AFC between the two sets of females, the correlation between HIF-1α and sex hormone indexes and ovarian reserve function is analyzed. The experimental results show that the lofty standard of HIF-1α in females at lofty elevation may lead to abnormal standards of sex hormones and weakened ovarian reserve. The detection of HIF-1α in females in lofty elevation areas is of great significance for evaluating their sex hormone standards, ovarian function, and preventing the occurrence of female gynecological diseases.

Resumo:
This thesis charts new territory by examining the figure of the organist within Victorian culture and society. It examines the perception of the organist as a leader in musical life as well as the perceptions that revolved around them. Central to an understanding of the musical ‘figure’ is the role of the organist in pursuing a ‘higher’ course through their endeavours. Seeking a professional role equal to those equal of law and medicine their collective ethos continually strove for self-improvement and self-evaluation. The thesis is arranged in six chapters enveloped by three larger parts. Part I examines the role of the Victorian organist as a composer by focusing on the factors that influenced and inspired their numerous contributions to the sonata genre. The form of the sonata, coupled with the inclusion of a fugue in so many examples, highlights the deeper meaning placed on writing works that were seen as representing higher forms of composition. The Victorian organists aspired to write works that were not simply useful pieces for church or concert use but more significantly works that could be viewed as superior contributions to the great repertoire. It was a definitive role that elevated their profession to increasingly greater heights. Chapter I shows the influence of classical idioms from the 1850s onwards and the relationship of sonatas to the classical tradition. Chapter II looks at the influence of the Leipzig Conservatorium in the 1880s and the impact found on English students who undertook study there. Ultimately a lineage is traced through to Elgar and his seminal contribution to the literature in 1895. The concluding chapter of Part I centres on the aesthetical conditioning factors attached to the emergence of this new tradition and the greater reasoning behind the place of these works in the canon. Part II examines the perception of the organist as seen through literature by studies of Robert Browning and Thomas Hardy, respectively. Through Browning we see the image of a servant in communion with the Divine and in turn a musician set apart from the mainstream. Browning’s reading of the musician Abt Vogler opens the discussion to consider a musician of an earlier era viewed through a Victorian lens. The second chapter of Part II examines Hardy’s narrative of a young woman who plays the organ but runs afoul of ecclesiastical and societal expectation through her personal infidelities. It is a portrayal that cuts to the core of understanding the role of the woman organist in Victorian society. A deeper examination of the role of the woman in sacred and domestic contexts illuminates a provoking conclusion as a study of gendered perception. Part III is devoted to the work of England’s greatest concert organist of the nineteenth century, W. T. Best. Through a study of Best’s programming trends we can observe the role of the civic organist as a music director for the city of Liverpool in all but name. However, beyond the well-known aspects of bringing music to the masses, we can see how Best’s pursuit of higher ideals was manifest in programming that sought a superior ground between the promenade and the scholastic concert. Across six chapters we find musicians tempered by a spirit of idealism that came from within the profession. As their reach was great across the cultural landscape so too was their selective response to conditioning factors of the period. This is exemplified by not only compositional and programming trends but also their portrayal in literature and the relationship of their work to contemporary aesthetical considerations. As such a rich canvas is developed that helps define key areas of our understanding of the Victorian era whilst demonstrating the figure of the organist as a ‘worthy’ seeking a higher calling.

Inclusive education is deemed to be a lofty goal that every nation should strive to achieve. It helps people living with disabilities and people without any disabilities to have equal access to educational materials, resources, and training without any discrimination. Therefore, international advocates and governments have made conscious efforts to achieve inclusive education. However, the implementation of inclusive education and its related policies is difficult, especially in developing countries. The lofty inclusive education is challenging and almost impossible to achieve. This paper, therefore, aims to assess and highlight the challenges frustrating the implementation of inclusive education, particularly in developing countries. It is obvious that these countries are lagging behind in the achievement of inclusive education due to a wide range of challenges identified in this study. To achieve this aim, the paper employed a theoretical research method. The method allowed several extant studies, especially those published in mainstream journals, on the subject to be reviewed and explored extensively. The review of extant studies on the challenges encountered in the implementation of inclusive education produced a number of pertinent findings. So, the findings of the study revealed that societal attitude towards people living with disabilities, poor attitude of the government, inadequate infrastructure, poor funding, and a host of other reasons are the key factors frustrating the implementation of inclusive education, causing the low level of inclusiveness in the developing nations. These findings help inclusive education advocates, international organizations, and governments alike, to narrow their focus on these challenges and develop approaches to overcome them in order to achieve their end goal of inclusive education. It is therefore suggested that government should organize training programs for teachers and head teachers on how best to manage an inclusive classroom and offer inclusive education.

Abstract Oil and gas companies’ future production profile is shaped by their exploration strategy and resource base development. Gazprom Neft's production profile will include 40% of current exploration projects by 2030. Geological exploration, on the other hand, is a high-risk business because it involves a lot of uncertainty due to the geological complexity of the targets being explored, as well as a lot of risky capital. Taking these factors into account, the Company will need to expand its exploration function as well as its approaches to managing exploration projects in order to meet its lofty aims. To determine the key areas of growth and a strategy for the exploration function development in the coming years, it was decided to first analyze the geological exploration activity in the Company in 2010 – 2020 period. The knowledge of achievements, success stories, and development areas is the fulcrum for future victories. Therefore, retrospective analysis is an important tool for the development of any system of activity - individual, organization, or state.

Abstract A system design process innovation is reported, in conjunction with a fuel cell/ gas turbine hybrid power system (HPS). Lowering cell stack fuel utilization increases system power generation and cost effectiveness. This occurs with minimal penalty to the system’s lofty efficiency. The cell stack produces more power at lower fuel utilizations, because reactant flows to the stack actually increase. The bottoming gas turbine also increases in power production, because a greater amount of unreacted fuel fires it. Since power generation installation cost is normalized per unit capacity rating (e.g., $/kW), increasing power production is a viable means of lowering capital costs. At lower cell stack fuel utilizations, enhanced regenerative effects within the HPS counteract the increasing prevalence of combustion. System efficiency thus remains stable. The adage that best system performance occurs at the highest cell stack fuel utilizations is based on “parallel plant” logic. The investigators have shown, however, that such reasoning is not necessarily applicable to these HPS designs (which incorporate indirect internal reformation). A process patent is pending.

Including ‘informally constructed’ buildings in the cornucopia of ‘vernacular’ has its opponents. They are not visually compelling, strongly represent the ‘other’, and their unpopularity derives from worldviews that prioritise ‘architecture’ as modernity rather than, perhaps, ‘buildings’ as humanity. However, it is argued that informal settlements are not only the kernel of new cities (using modern materials), but are inevitable and sanitized by health legislation, with slum ‘clearing’ having different potentials, to ‘slum building’. Considering informal settlements in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa in the early 1920s, and subsequent slum clearances due to post-War health legislation, tracking their continued negative, (and ambivalent connotations at the end of apartheid), and most extensive manifestations in current times, this paper considers informal settlements as recyclers of matter, distinct representations of cultural change (from the rural to the urban) and vectors of opportunity (driven by early health legislations). For the a global north which assumes culturally static societies, advocates for carbon-neutral construction, and renewable construction materials and recycling, there is possibly much we can learn from informal settlements, addressing complex and diverse world views, recycling, political organization and spatial planning. Also, viewed from the lofty perspective of the global north, such vernaculars are viewed derisively, are the focus of multiple, globally-crafted sustainable development goals, and are considered as ‘problems’ rather than, ‘solutions’. Thus, migratory trajectories, social and cultural change, and the continued use of existing and found materials is real for many millions of people globally. These constantly negotiated territories provide compelling ground for re-assessment, reflection and repositioning, interpretation of the vernacular.

Achieving inclusive education is one of the lofty goals set by the United Nations which was, then, passed down to individual nations around the globe. It is believed that inclusive education has great benefits for individuals and society at large. However, its level in developing nations, Nigeria inclusive, is still very low. The aim of this paper was to assess how inclusive education for people living with disabilities can be achieved in Nigeria. To achieve this aim, a theoretical research method was employed. The methods enabled a systematic literature review to be done in this study. To this end, several published studies were reviewed and explored to draw out significant lessons for inclusive education and identify possible actionable steps the government could take on inclusive education. The study results revealed that the level of inclusive education was still very low and far from the expectations of its advocates. While the Nigerian government supported the idea of inclusive education and enshrined the rights of people living with disabilities in the 1999 constitution, sufficient actionable steps are yet to be taken to achieve inclusive education. Similarly, inclusive education faced severe challenges in the country in the form of low levels of infrastructure and teaching materials and resources. The living conditions of people living with disabilities were poor because cultural beliefs and myths about them enable people to treat them poorly and shabbily. These findings are significant to inclusive education advocates and policymakers in the country because they help them to understand the poor level of inclusive education in the country, and poor governmental efforts towards inclusive education; re-evaluate their existing approaches, and design better approaches for the course of inclusive education.

This paper comparatively examines the ruling religious populist governments in Turkey and Pakistan through a theoretical framework that focuses on populists’ promises, their compromises, and their attacks on democratic institutions. Through our three-legged framework, we examine how these religious populists behave in power and how strategic necessities, the realities of governing, and structural constraints shape their policies. Similar to the other populists in other parts of the world, before coming to power, Islamist populists make sweeping promises to the people and quick fixes to major problems of the country—most famously, quick and substantial economic development. While they may want to retain their uncompromising style and lofty goals, the realities of governing force populists to make serious compromises to their designated ‘enemies’ and on their values once they are in power. Finally, like other authoritarian politicians, Islamist populists attack formal institutions of democracy such as the judiciary, the media, and civil society; they politicize them, evacuate them, and eventually capture them from within. Keywords: Religion, populism, Islamism, authoritarianism, populists in power, democratic backsliding, Turkey, Pakistan

Catalyzed by the passing of the York University Open Access Policy last year, a recognition has been growing at York University, like most other institutions, about the value of Open Educational Resources (OER) and more broadly, open education. This heightened awareness led to the formation of a campus-wide Open Education Working Group in January 2020. The group advocated that faculty members who receive internal funding for teaching innovation projects through York’s Academic Innovation Fund (AIF) should include a Creative Commons license on their grant outputs to facilitate the re-use, and potentially re-mixing, of the content by educators inside and outside of York University. A copy and/or link to their grant output would also be deposited into York’s institutional repository, YorkSpace. To support the 71 funded projects in achieving these lofty goals, an open education and open licensing curriculum was developed by two of the librarian members of the Open Education Working Group. This session describes how the librarians created the training program and participants will leave the session better understanding: How to develop learning modules for adult learners and apply these best practices when teaching faculty online (synchronously & asynchronously); How to access York’s open education training program and learn how they can remix the content for their own institution’s training purposes; The common types of questions and misconceptions that arise when teaching an open education and Creative Commons licensing program for faculty. Originally the program was conceived as an in-person workshop series; however, with the COVID-19 campus closure, it was redesigned into a four module synchronous and asynchronous educational program delivered via Moodle, H5P and Zoom. Modeled after the SUNY OER Community Course and materials from Abbey Elder’s OER Starter Kit, the program gave grant recipients a grounding in open educational resources, searching open course material repositories, copyright/Creative Commons licensing, and content deposit in York’s institutional repository, including OER metadata creation and accessibility considerations. The librarians modeled best practices in the use and creation of Creative Commons licensed resources throughout the program. Qualitative feedback was gathered at the end of each module in both the synchronous and asynchronous offerings of the program and will be shared with participants. The presenters will also discuss lessons learned, next steps, and some of the challenges they encountered. https://youtu.be/n6dT8UNLtJo
