Texto completo da fonteLeiria, Capital da Cultura 2027 pretende abrir uma discussão sobre o obsoleto estado de uma série de espaços centrais na cidade de Leiria. Com a falta de orientação e investimento no centro, deparamo-nos neste momento com inúmeras falhas na estrutura urbana da cidade, fisicamente parada no tempo. Torna-se relevante refletir sobre estes espaços, expectantes e com capacidade de constituir a base da regeneração urbana da cidade, agora que Leiria se prepara para a hipótese de se tornar Capital Europeia da Cultura em 2027. Esta investigação manifesta-se no desenvolvimento prático de uma proposta urbana, paisagística e arquitetónica que agarra em locais centrais na cidade, reinventando-os como um só numa conceção contemporânea, de uma arquitetura transformativa e relacional, de encontro e de partilha, na procura pelo espaço ritual dos nossos tempos e na intenção de colocar Leiria no mapa cultural.
ABSTRACT: Leiria, Capital da Cultura 2027 intends to start a discussion about the current obsolete condition of a series of central sites in the city of Leiria, Portugal. With a lack of orientation and investment, we now come across to an innumerable list of flaws in the city’s urban structure, physically stopped in time. It becomes important to think about these sites, expectants and with the ability of being the basis for the urban regeneration of Leiria, at the same time as the city prepares itself for the chance of becoming European Capital of Culture in 2027. This investigation expresses itself through the practical development of an urbanistic, landscape and architectural proposal that combines these central sites in one only, reinventing them in a contemporary conception of an architecture of transformation and relation, meeting and share, searching for the ritual place of today and with the intention of placing Leiria in the cultural map.

" Throughout his life, Michel Leiris lives in a contrastive situation. His nature is cold, hard, indifferent, logic. . . Sometimes terribly anxious, but he likes things rather hot, as he says, the things that can stimulate him and give him the wonderfulness or the enthusiasm such as bullfighting, opera, and jazz. Jazz is an important element in his life. This music style is really the key to understand Michel Leiris. For him, Jazz is not only a pure music, but also anything that is related to the Blacks of Africa and to the Blacks of America, if they are not mixed up: "This precisely makes not only African but also African in America underestimate the value of Jazz, since for Africa, Jazz is a little charming mischief of art; however, for Jazz, Africa consists of a pile of gloomy, flat and flashy things that are nearly always miserable (which, nevertheless, build its unique beauty)" (Miroir de l'Afrique, P362). Startinq from Glossaire j'y serre mes aloses as from a microcosm in which Leiris's work is reflected in its most condensed form, the author undertakes the close and careful decipherment of a set of texts deliberately chosen from a wide range of leirisian works and tries to understand what it actually means that Leiris's deepest ambition was "to be a poet" and that when he was twenty-two he chose "transmuate" as his maître mot. Leiris's writinq is neither lead nor gold, but lead in the process of becoming gold. "Becominq-poetry" : rather than opening a new field of study, this thesis aims at creating a new way of speakinq about Leiris in an attempt to follow as closely as possible the gradual transformation of his texts. Which may be nothing else but the process of reading them, as the author shows by several examples

Texto completo da fonteApós a queda do regime dinástico, o Estado liberal continuou a manter a mesma estrutura na I República portuguesa, entre 1910 e 1926. Findou a transição familiar da Coroa e mudaram os destinatários do recrutamento político, mas mantiveram-se os mecanismos de carreira, o voto capacitário e, sobretudo, a instabilidade política. Leiria foi um espelho muito próximo da realidade nacional, no que toca a continuidades e descontinuidades dos protagonistas e das práticas políticas. Com a mudança para o regime autoritário, entre 1926 e 1974, Leiria continuou a acompanhar as lógicas de recrutamento e de ação da generalidade do País, com uma nova particularidade que passava pela proximidade geográfica de Fátima, cujo impacto popular não deixou de influenciar, de forma marcante, as elites leirienses que, mesmo com as possibilidades de desenvolvimento surgidas na década de sessenta, não se conseguiram autonomizar com projetos alternativos e representativos de largos estratos da população. Também com o regime democrático, depois de 1974, a influência inicial da Igreja Católica foi visível, assim como a transferência de parte de “aparelho” partidário da Ação Nacional Popular para os novos Partido Popular Democrático e Centro Democrático Social. Por outro lado, só na década de noventa, a participação feminina começou a ser efetiva na política e nos centros de decisão locais. Excetuando, contudo, uma ou outra particularidade, até ao final do séc. XX, Leiria não terá fugido ao retrato geral das cidades médias de província, tal como poderemos observar nas suas elites políticas, através dos seus representantes parlamentares, dos governadores civis e dos presidentes das Câmara, ao longo de 90 anos de República. Texto completo da fonteReferred by his own author to the bullfighting, Michel Leiris's work illustrate all the facets of an heroic figure onto which the autobiographer projects himself. Fed by myth, delibertly situated in an hyperbolic environment, the subject builts thus his own heroic status. As the works grow, a substituted identity, claimed by his creator, would so be founded. The genesis of the mythic double goes through different stages : aspire to a prestigious lineage, with a poet as gather, a singer as mother, collect the pictures or the scenes that glorify the I as a heroe, alternatly warrior, traveller or dandy, all exhibitions dominated by the figure of the artist. Nevertheless the heroic projection takes part in a general effect of trompe-l'oeil, presentin the decor and the utterance, which aptitude protects her in fact from a petrifiying eternity, and yet perpetuates her in her heroic phases. Played into the text, this subtle game against the death - which is the essential stake in an autobiography - reaches its highest point in the illusion of the whole work miming a never-ending piece of writing as a last challenge to the rules of its genre, and as an absolute accomplishment ofthe textual figure

Texto completo da fonteIn my Master’s Thesis my focus is on children’s play and other activities in daycare centre environments. My aim is to find out means of design how to better take into account children’s activities at daycare centre environments. The literary framework for my Thesis lies on studies concerning theory about early childhood education. Also, The Rules and Information File concerning Daycare environments of Finnish Building Information Group’s (RT) targeted for designers is one of my main sources. In addition, I will focus on architectural literature about children’s activity in environments. The themes pointed out in educational literature I will discuss through three architectural case studies. Further, I will present my design concepts demonstrating solutions supporting children’s spontaneous activities. In the literature, environments’ functionality and childrens activities are widely emphasized. Child’s worldview is mainly based on exploring the environment through actions. Therefore, creating the environment is more than just creating the physical environment, but it is about creating culture. Since, the emphasis in my Thesis is on actions and activities in children’s environments, I have left material studies and the overall spatial visuality to a smaller role. Hence, my aim is to focus on functionality and experiential aspects. The biggest single theme in my Thesis is childrens play, especially long lasting play. My aim is to find phenomena to foster play and further, to find design solutions for high quality children’s play environments through conceptual design proposals. Affordance is often referred concept, meaning cues inspiring the play and other children’s action offered by the environment. As a theme there also child’s selfdom supporting environment is emphasized, meaning that environment has to be personal or be personalized in some way. Similarly, youngsters have posters in their room, should also the little children be able to personalize their environments. Usually in Finland personalization has been made possible by placing pictures of children or their family nearby their own places like beds. According to my findings, personalization could be taken into consideration already in the architectural design phase and thereby, it could be genuine feature of the whole environment. Hence, children’s action would be seen as an opportunity, not a threat. Other important themes in my Diploma Thesis are ’using all the senses’, ’the impact of space orientation on childrens activity’, ’the impacts of the environment on the daycare centre’s hierarchy’ and ’children’s view’. Based on the aforementioned themes I have designed conceptual sketches to support play and other children’s activities in daycare centre environments. The focus is on design concepts for children’s actions and other activities in the daycare centre environments. In addition to design solutions for children’s independent moving plays, I will also offer proposals for design concepts concerning rest and relax

Texto completo da fonteBeing present in the French intellectual milieux troughout the XX century, Michel Leiris (1901-1990) published a lot in the journals wich aimed to become show-cases of the activities of various literary and artistic movements, of avant-garde in the first place. The autobiographic writings and ethnological work of Michel Leiris have concealed this aspect of his creative activities, and it has not yet been studied systematically. The thesis borrows the approaches from different disciplines - the history of ideas, literary and art history, history of anthropology, sociology and psychoanalysis. The first part analyses the life-path of the writer-ethnologist. The conceptions of Pierre Bourdieu's theory are used to highlight how the logic and constraints of literary field acted in the life of Leiris who had avoided the path predetermined by his family and social class to join the artistic circles. Texto completo da fonteA poet close to surrealism, an autobiographer and an Africanist ethnologist, Michel Leiris (1901-1990) was also the friend of the greatest artists of the twentieth century - André Masson, Joan Miró, Alberto Giacometti, Pablo Picasso, Wifredo Lam or Francis Bacon. The relationships between the writer and painters or sculptors gave rise with the former to the writing of numerous commentaries on the work of the latter. Revealing different writing exercises - poem, review article, preface or essay -, the writings on art express a common singularity of the poet within the scope of art history. Less an expert in art than a lover of art, Michel Leiris has made his writing a place of experimentation and quests towards the artistic creation of his time. By relating the circumstances of the meetings with the artists, then, by studying the friendships maintained with the latter, it can be demonstrated how Leiris embodies a singular and emblematic personality in the specific field of art history. Moreover, his writing will be linked to the ever renewed experiments in which the writer participated throughout the twentieth century - surrealism, ethnography or political commitment. Thus, the expression of his sensitivity can be placed at the centre of the epistemological debates of art history and the Humanities and Social Sciences. Actually, it will be a matter of questioning the quests of "presence", realism, modernity, beauty, sacred and the figure of the otherness in art, through issues inherent in the discipline of art history, while considering Leiris's sensitive and subjective link with the works of art

Texto completo da fonteA presente tese insere-se no âmbito dos Estudos Portugueses e visa abordar as relações de arte e de poder na obra de Mário-Henrique Leiria, centralizando-se nos dois volumes de contos intitulados Contos do Gin Tonic e Novos Contos do Gin, publicados em 1973. Face à ausência de estudos significativos sobre este autor, justifica-se o interesse deste trabalho, não só por dar a conhecer parte do seu pensamento teórico, que se mantém inédito até aos dias de hoje, mas principalmente porque permite entender as dificuldades que Mário-Henrique Leiria sentiu, enquanto artista plástico e escritor, durante o período do Estado Novo. Apresenta-se uma breve incursão ao percurso artístico-biográfico do autor de forma a compreender a importância da arte na sua vida, seguida de uma sucinta contextualização artística, política e social que revelará muitas das condicionantes que determinaram a sua trajectória individual. Desvelam-se algumas das críticas tecidas na obra leiriana, em especial ao establishment da arte, através da demonstração de elementos textuais que indiciam as distintas estruturas de poder a que a arte esteve exposta, e de que forma as relações entre estas e aquelas evoluíram desde o período surrealista do autor (1949 – 1951) até ao momento da publicação das suas obras, na década de 70. A análise de uma narrativa extraída de Contos do Gin Tonic, fundamentada com o apoio dos textos críticos inéditos do autor, originou a discussão em torno de diversos temas directamente ligados à arte, como o meio artístico, o artista, o objecto artístico, a recepção artística e a crítica de arte. A arte e a literatura, enquanto meios de expressão de inconformismo e instrumentos de subversão, são armas de luta preferenciais de Mário-Henrique. A literatura, em particular, é passível de ser aqui observada sob a perspectiva dos seus recursos estilísticos - a ironia, a paródia, a simples comicidade e o humor negro -, que comportam um triplo aspecto funcional: como diferentes estratégias discursivas para expressar uma perspectiva da vivência de uma determinada contingência política e social; como meio de sublevação que se faz essencialmente pela palavra; e, por fim, como via de acesso a um espaço único de liberdade, que é, afinal, o da criação artística.

Texto completo da fonteMichel Leiris, a member of the surrealist group from 1924 to 1929, is generally known for his autobiography, however, he considered himself above all a poet : poetry is at the basis of his entire body of work. The aim of this thesis is to shed light on the origins of a poetically oriented oeuvre, by means of a study of Michel Leiris's surrealist texts works which have been neglected by critics. Each of the three parts focuses on one of the poetics that Leiris experimented with, from his early lyrical essays up to the foundations for his autobiographical project in the beginning of the thirties. The first section deals with his attempts at semiautomatic depersonalisation as sketched in Simulacre, Glossaire : J'y serre mes gloses and Le forcat vertigineux. The thesis underlines the definition of a paradoxical lyricism one finds there behind the neutral voice characteristic of these texts which leave the initiative to the words themselves. On the other hand, three oneiric narrations, "le pays de mes reves", Le point cardinal and Aurora, form a triptych where the relating of dreams is a pretext for an introspective and fantasizing quest for the sources of inspiration. Texto completo da fonteOur thesis invites the reader to follow the route taken by michel leiris, a writer who learned his craft at the elbow of artists and who has, all his life, maintained close friedships with them. Our study seeks to show, through analysing their shared experiences, the role played by painting, and in a more general way by the visual arts in the construction of michel leris's literary idendity. A first part, which concentrates on identifying prictorial motifs in his autobiographical work, and especially in l'age d'homme, analyses the way in which he introduces images into the narrative flow of his text. This first section reveals the existence of a memory process associated with images which dates from childhood, then attempts to describe the lengthy development of the author's personal pictorial culture. In a second part, our attention is drawn to what michel leiris has written about art. His friendships with painters have allowed him to publish works in collaboration with them. He also writes as an art critic, setting out his personal conception of the artist. Here, then, he underlines the similarities and differences he sees between the image and the written word, the artist and the poet. These multiple experiences have all contribued to building up the literary identity of michel leiris. A third part completes the study, examining the imaginary quality of the writer's texts and, looking at the ruban au cou d'olumpia, analyses the very special role played by painting in this work, and particularly the, somewhat secretive, role of surrealist art

Texto completo da fonteA constante evolução da sociedade actual e o seu desenvolvimento desenfreado põem de parte, muitas vezes, os impactos em termos de qualidade ambiental que daí advêm. No sentido de controlar a qualidade do ar, é importante proceder à sua avaliação através do recurso a modelos que permitem analisar as concentrações dos poluentes na atmosfera, a contribuição das diversas fontes e influência de determinadas condições, sejam elas topográficas, meteorológicas ou outras. O objectivo principal do presente trabalho é avaliar a qualidade do ar no município de Leira, através da aplicação de um de modelo da qualidade do ar. Para a realização deste estudo efectuou-se uma pesquisa acerca dos modelos de qualidade do ar em termos de funcionalidades, bem como as vantagens e limitações da sua aplicação em diferentes condições e para diferentes objectivos. Foi seleccionado o modelo ADMS que se baseia no modelo gaussiano, e inclui também o módulo químico e de street-canyon. Procedeu-se à caracterização da área de estudo, à análise das emissões de tráfego obtidas a partir do modelo TREM, assim como dos dados meteorológicos fornecidos pelo modelo MM5, respeitantes ao dia 21 de Setembro de 2007, dia alvo do estudo. O modelo foi aplicado para analisar a variação espacial e temporal dos poluentes SO2, CO, NOx, COV e PM10. Os resultados obtidos foram validados através da comparação com medições de concentração de poluentes efectuadas num ponto localizado dentro da área de estudo para o dia seleccionado. De uma maneira geral, os resultados da modelação demonstram boa concordância com os valores medidos. ABSTRACT: The constant evolution of our society and its wild development, do not consider its impacts in the quality of the environment. In order to control air quality, it is important to proceed to its evaluation, using models that allow analyzing the concentration of the pollutants emitted into the atmosphere, the contribution of the sources and the influence of certain conditions, whether topographical, meteorological or other. The main objective of this work, intends to evaluate the quality of the air in the city of Leiria, trough the application of a model of air quality. To accomplish of this study, a review of air quality models in terms of functionalities, as well as the advantages and limitations of its application in different conditions and for different purposes, have been performed. The model ADMS is based on the gaussian model, that also includes the chemical and of streetcanyon modules. It was proceeded the characterization of the study area, to the analysis of the traffic emissions obtained by TREM model, as well as the meteorological data supplied by the MM5 model, concerning the 21 September of 2007, the study target day. The model was applied to analyze the space distribution and temporal variation of pollutants SO2, CO, NOx, COV and PM10. The results were validated through the comparison with measurements of pollutants concentration, performed in a point located inside of the study area for the selected day. In general way, the modeling results shows a good agreement with the measured values

Texto completo da fonteThe emergence of Africa in the work of Michel Leiris testifies his willingness to know the other and at the same time to re-evaluate his own self through the encounter with the other. Leiris travels through Africa from the west to the east during the Dakar/Djibouti mission from 1931 to 1933 as the recording archivist of the ethnographic and linguistic mission headed by Marcel Griaule. This mission becomes an occasion for Leiris to get in touch with Africans and to be away from Europe for a moment. His stay in Sanga allows him to enter the sacred universe of Dogon people and to analyse the significance of the masks. As far as that goes, his stay in Abyssinia also gives him the opportunity to be in direct contact with the possessed people and the Zar spirits. Ethiopia is the last country visited by Leiris and it is the country which touches him the most. Blacks do not make any difference between Leiris and the other white colonialists during this particular period of colonisation. His encounter with Africa gives birth to several pieces of work such as Ghost Africa and The Secret Language of Sanga’s Dogons. Leiris hopes that his travel to Africa will help him find a therapy to his problems. In this vast enterprise, he will see the myth of a regenerative travel broken and will not be able to get rid of his obsessions. Ghost Africa is a testimony on the ambiguous position of ethnology of this particular period. Objectively; he tries to say everything on his own self and on what he feels while in Africa. The other becomes his main concern, from Africa to the West Indies; he is interested in the cultures of the black people with often a critical comment on them. He becomes ethnologist himself, questioning the world from the sample of human category that he is, as an external witness somehow, of what is happening in his own self and around him. Africa remains a ghost for Leiris because of the image of Emawayish, the Gondarian of Ethiopia with whom he falls in love during his stay in Abyssinia

Texto completo da fonteFundado em 1494 por D. Catarina, Condessa de Loulé, viúva de D. João Coutinho morto na Batalha de Arzila em 1471, o Convento de Santana estabeleceu-se em Leiria como comunidade de Dominicanas, na zona do antigo Rossio, junto ao Rio Lis. A sua comunidade foi extinta em 1880, após a morte da última religiosa, Soror Joaquina do Rosário, e o seu edifício demolido em 1916, para a construção do actual Mercado de Santana no mesmo local. A população conventual foi constituída por mulheres de origens nobres e burguesas locais e regionais que entraram no convento como religiosas ou como recolhidas, sendo servida por criados e escravas. A tutela da casa ficou a cargo de frades dominicanos do Mosteiro da Batalha. Vivendo permanentes dificuldades económicas, a casa sobreviveu essencialmente de uma economia rentista, de doações, e, ainda da propriedade individual das religiosas e recolhidas. A casa terá vivido o seu auge entre o século XVII e início do século XVIII, entrando posteriormente em decadência. O espólio arqueológico cerâmico recolhido aquando da intervenção arqueológica ocorrida entre 1999 e 2000 no Mercado de Santana, poderá ser um reflexo de toda esta realidade. Apresentamos uma análise da sua colecção de faiança portuguesa, datada entre os séculos XVI e XVIII, de cerâmica fina decorada, bem como de porcelana chinesa, das dinastias Ming e Qing.
