The thesis is focused on description of the situation of peasants in the founding stage of the communist regime and on describing of the facts which led to the collectivization of agriculture. The main objectives are to define the term "kulak" and its development at the end of the forties and early fifties of the last century and to find the answer to the question, whether the main reason for the farmers persecution was the disposal of private property.

This research takes interest in the genesis of two theater plays by Colombian playwright Enrique Buenaventura (1925 – 2003): A Requiem for father Las Casas, 1963, and Six hours in the life of Frank Kulak or The Crossroad, 1969. Both theater plays originate in previous documents and their genesis processes are different and contrasting. On the one hand, A Requiem for father Las Casas originates in History of the Indies by Bartolomé de las Casas and in historic analysis about Las Casas. On the other hand, Six hours in the life of Frank Kulak, originates in a press article from 1969 about a former American marine who explodes a bomb in Chicago in order to protest against the Vietnam war. This article is read by Buenaventura during the development of a theater project about the Vietnam war at Cali’s Teatro Experimental (TEC).Following two concepts suggested by genetic criticism (exogenesis and endogenesis), this research is concerned with 1) the particularities of each play with respect to the reading – writing relation and the documents’ transformation and integration modes; 2) the role of the Theater group in the origin and, in particular, the influence of collective creation that was beginning to create an important space, by the end of the 1960s, for the TEC actors to play an active role in the development of theater plays. A Requiem for father Las Casas is written by Buenaventura from start to end with a writing style trying to transform and make his own the materials from which it originates and later on is directed by Buenaventura himself. The genesis of Six hours in the life of Frank Kulak takes various twists, in part due to the relation to the theater group and, at the same time, due to the subject topicality: Buenaventura’s studio and the play set converge in different ways reformulating the whole project. Also, the importance of the present takes its toll to produce unsuspected alterations. Through this process this research allows to pinpoint a change in the writing identity of Buenaventura; it also proposes a reinterpretation, in terms of exogenesis and endogenesis, of the theater genesis dynamic model by Almuth Grésillon and Jean-Marie Thomasseau (2005)

The so called 'operation Kulak' and its impact in the districts Chrudim and Hlinsko Abstract The submitted doctoral thesis analyses the problem of a violent phase of collectivization in Czechoslovakia in the 1950's, with a particular focus on the so called 'Operation Kulak.' In the first part, the author analyses the historical background of collectivization and therefore at first provides with significant milestones in the history of Czechoslovakia. He focuses mainly on the development after the Second World War, with a particular aim to inquire into the relation of land confiscation made on the ground of Czechoslovakian president's decrees. Specific attention is also paid to the fundamental regulations, which are connected either with the agricultural production, land ownership, or with the violent phase of collectivization. Moreover, the author introduces 'Operation Kulak' nationwide. He gives a detailed description of the preparation of the most significant events linked to the above-mentioned operation, including pretexts for its implementation known as 'Babice case' (1951). 'Operation Kulak' was prepared in the highest ranks of the Czechoslovak Communist Party with an involvement of closest collaborators of Klement Gottwald. This operation was aimed against wealthy and medium sized farmers including...

My diploma thesis deals with legal issues of agricultural collectivization (cooperativization) of Czech villages in 50th years of 20th century. This period produced many personal tragedies, destroyed lives, caused material damages and disrupted traditional village social structure. The thesis is divided into five chapters, in the beginning, the focus is on the idea of "collectivization of agriculture" in general (its meaning, origin, time before this process and also generalization in the context of the Eastern bloc countries). Next chapter is specialized on the process of collectivization in Czechoslovakia including the time of this period and definition of general used word (the word "JZD" and "státní statek" and the Soviet Union's equivalents "kolchoz" and "sovchoz"). The main point of the thesis is in the third chapter which describes very precisely first phase of agricultural collectivization in Czechoslovakia (preparation, approval of the "JZD" act, transformation according to soviet collectivization and analysis of methods used in the process of big farmers' liquidation and property confiscation). Very important part of this chapter is focused on the Mission "K" (preparation, course and problems with the realization). Focus was also taken on the detailed description of the term "kulak". The fourth...

The thesis deals with the process of collectivization in the Strakonice district in the years 1948- 1960. In addition to a comprehensive description of collectivization in the Strakonice district, the thesis analyses to which extent could local institutions - national committees, secretariats of the communistic party, prosecutor's offices and courts - influence the course of collectivization in a particular place. This thesis focuses on the study of the psychological background of power relations and asks the question how effective was propaganda in creating the image of "kulaks" as a class enemy. The thesis consists of three chapters: In the first chapter deals with collectivization on a national scale - the roots of this policy, terminology, legal framework, key events and forms of propaganda. In the second chapter characterizes the economic and social aspects of the Strakonice district, the results of the process of collectivization there and the functioning of local institutions. The third chapter is devoted to case studies of five specific model municipalities in the district. The method of analysis and comparison will clarify the specific causes of the course of collectivization in the village. Keywords: Collectivization, Strakonice District, Common Agricultural Cooperative, Czechoslovak...

This thesis focuses on the collectivization of Czechoslovakian countryside from 1949-1960. The current knowledge of agricultural policy of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia has been extended with the findings from a former Prague Region, present-day Central-bohemian Region. The first part consists of the analysis of the term collectivization in the international context, where a particular attention is paid to the process of collectivization in the Soviet Union. The author follows two main lines of the collectivization in the Czech environment. The former is the establishment of collective farms which formed the main pillar of the countryside socialization, the latter concentrates on the persecution of those who resisted the socialization, i.e. private landowners, known as kulaks. Part of the thesis deals with the agitation which accompanied the creation and running of the collective farms. Last but not least, the thesis includes the reflection of the fight against the kulaks on the pages of the then agricultural press - regional as well as nationwide.

The collectivization of agriculture, or in other words, the process of village socialization has become a term that is synonomous for revolutionary changes to the lives of farmers, villages, and the entire countryside. For the older generation, its rememberance illicits mixed emotions; for the younger gereration, it is only a foggy resonance of the beginning of the path towards socialism. The collectivization of Agriculture can be evaluated by several criteria and points of view, whereas by refering to one of them we can characterize this era as the period of mass illegality. And it is this mass illegality that is the major concern of the diploma work. It aims to examine the impact of the collectivization policy on the rural inhabitants and the ensuing reactions as it is rarely studied by regional historiography {--} it is not available or is only available to a limited extent. From my point of view, this interaction is best described by the records of the criminal agenda of Sušice and Horažďovice court from 1949 to 1959; they also form the basis of my thesis. This thesis is focused not just on the general features of collectivization with regard to the mentioned regions, but to a considerable extent, it focuses on concrete examples. This thesis and peoples responses thus attempts, in part, to turn this work into a testimony of our recent history.

The diploma thesis depicts the mode and course of collectivization of the rural areas in the district of Kutná Hora in years 1948-1960. It is based on the analysis of five villages - Bahno, Opatovice I, Petrovice I, Mitrov a Vranice (the little town of Kácov is also included for comparison reasons). The thesis describes how the unified binding principles of the state- controlled agricultural politics of KSČ reflected into the socialization of concrete villages and how they influenced the daily life and destinies of their inhabitants. The thesis also concentrates on the individual reactions towards the collectivization, especially those of local functionaries, focusing on which means and strategies these used against the ruling power. The central question is whether, and to what extent, the functionaries could influence and shape the village life and how they influenced the local form of socialization. The objective of this thesis is to show a more vivid picture of the agricultural collectivization and, at the same time, to offer a certain typology of its participants. Apart from the comparison of the mode of collectivization in concrete villages, their example also shows the differences between the first and second (final) phase of the collectivization of the rural areas. The thesis is based...
