Mobile Journalism (MOJO) has become a significant innovation in the field of journalism. MOJO has numerous effects on the performance of journalists in news coverage. This research investigates the use of MOJO as an effectibve tool to enchance responsiveness, engagement, and flexibility in carrying out journalistic tasks. Through a qualitative approach and case studies, this study explores the experiences of Tribun Bengkulu journalists who have adopted mobile journalism in converiing news in various locations. The research results indicat that the use of MOJO devices enables journalists to respond to news quickly and efficiently. With the ability to record videos, take photos, and engage in live broadcasts, journalists can cover events more dynamically. Futhermore, audience engagement is also enchanced through social media, particularly through live broadcasts. Financial affordability has proven to be an advantage, allowing media organizations with limited budgets to produce quality content without the need for expensive equipment. However, challenges related to production quality and ethical considerations need to remain a special focus. This can be addressed through specialized training and robust ethical guidelines for journalists adopting mobile journalism to ensure that high journalistic standards are maintained. In conclusion, MOJO is not just a practical tool for efficient news coverage but also an innovative approach that can enhance the engagement and flexibility of journalists in delivering information to the public.

This study aimed to understand the impact of ethical codes on Saudi journalists’ perceptions toward mobile journalism (MOJO). Three major ethical dimensions were examined, including seeking truth, minimizing harm, and being accountable in news coverage. A survey link created with SurveyMonkey was transmitted via social media avenues, such as Twitter and WhatsApp, where Saudi journalists can complete the questionnaire and then share the link with other Saudi journalists. A total of 124 Saudi journalists were recruited by this snowball sampling approach, while the Codes of Ethics of Society of Professional Journalists was adapted as major measurements for three ethical dimensions, including seeking truth, minimizing harm, and being accountable. Results found that all three ethical dimensions of professional journalists generated significant influences on Saudi journalists’ perceptions toward MOJO. Specifically, minimizing harm was found as the most powerful factor that affected Saudi journalists’ perceptions toward MOJO, followed by being accountable and seeking truth, indicating that Saudi journalists who were more likely to seek truth, minimize harm, and be accountable would exhibit more positive perceptions toward MOJO. Although using smartphone as a journalistic tool was a key factor toward Saudi journalists’ MOJO perceptions, it was not as powerful as three ethical dimensions that affected their MOJO perceptions. Journalists are groups that are important in helping to provide information to the public. The development of communication technology has triggered a concept of Mobile Journalism or MoJo in the journalistic world. This study will show the application of the MoJo concept in the Kosmo Online and Rotikaya news portal that are able to change the working style of journalists from time to time. This study aims to see MoJo trends capable of changing the style of journalists, MoJo skills used among media practitioners and the future of newspaper companies as a result of digital technology. This study used a qualitative method that is through a deep interview with two informants fromboth media organisations. The theory used in this study is the Diffusion of Innovation Theory by Everett Rogers that examines four important elements of social system, time frame, innovation and communication channels. As a result of this research, researchers have found some new findings that are classified according to the theoretical elements applied in the MoJo concept. The findings show that both interviewed media organizations have successfully applied MoJo concepts in journalist working style. MoJo is able to change the style of journalist work from traditional style to modern style by using mobile devices to report the news. This application has helped journalists improve their skills indirectly towards the structure of news writing with the use of technology in delivering news visually. This MoJo has also been delivering the news that there is no obstacle to the gatekeeper where the true information continues to be communicated to the public without restrictions. This explorative study can be the basis of the journalistic field in today is growing digital era.

Smartphones and social media have changed how the media gather, produce, edit, and disseminate news. By employing the journalistic capital concept, this paper examines how journalists in Kompas.com, one of the pioneers of online media in Indonesia, incorporate mobile journalism practice into their work. This article explores how journalists and newsrooms respond to change that coincides with mobile devices and social media in the newsroom. The qualitative data analysis obtained from in-depth interviews with Kompas.com journalists and document analysis revealed that the application of mojo in Kompas.com is relatively new and is still looking for a form. Kompas.com integrate mobile smartphones into journalistic work to produce stories with a multimedia approach to meet changing journalistic and business needs. Journalists are expected to produce journalistic content in short videos using mobile devices related to daily events around them. Thus, the practice of mojo emerged as a new order in journalism. Kompas.com develops a multimedia division and improves journalists’ skills through training on all desks in the newsroom. Journalists learn new applications and tools and produce short videos for social media.

Over the past decade, mobile news production has had a growing prevalence and has been established as a new type by modern journalism industry. Journalists understand content capturing and sharing as parts of their role in newsrooms. Mobile journalism (mojo) is an evolving form of reporting in which where people use only a smartphone to create and file stories, and it has been gaining ground during the last decade. This paper aims to examine the difficulties, issues, and challenges in real-world mojo scenarios, analyzing the efficacy of prototype machine-assisted reporting services (MoJo-MATE). A usability evaluation is conducted in quantitative and qualitative terms, paying attention to the media literacy support provided through implemented tools and the proposed collaborations. Students of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, along with postgraduate-level researchers and professional journalists, form the sample for this investigation, which has a two-folded target: To guide the rapid prototyping process for system development and to validate specific hypotheses by answering the corresponding research questions. The results indicate the impact of mobile/on-demand support and training on journalistic practices and the attitudes of future journalists towards specialized technology in the era of constantly evolving digital journalism.

The academic tradition studies the process of digitization and innovation in newsrooms such as exploring network society and technological reach, mediamorphosis, news digitization, media convergence, and mobility in the use of new media. In addition, the launch of the Apple iPhone in 2007 marked the start of a new era in a new process for understanding the meaning of cellular communication. ABSTRACT – This article was developed within the scope of the Erasmus+ PAgES project, and it aims to investigate mobile journalism (mojo) as a new digital journalism technique that is based upon three characteristics: agility, flexibility, and accessibility. The proposed hypotheses are that mobile journalists can produce news content quickly and also include a greater variety of formats. In addition, access to remote locations and characters for interviews has been facilitated. Exploratory research tested these hypotheses using a mixed-method approach: an online survey (53 responses), to assess the degree of agreement/disagreement of the mobile journalists themselves regarding the hypotheses; and four interviews with experts to understand their perceptions of this new approach to journalism. The result of the research was favorable to the hypotheses and confirmed the process of individualization in journalism. It also ratified mojo as a journalistic technique suited to the demands of the 21st-century media industry.RESUMO – O artigo foi desenvolvido no escopo do projeto Erasmus+ PAgES e tem como objetivo investigar o jornalismo móvel (mojo) enquanto nova técnica do jornalismo digital, destacando três características: agilidade, flexibilidade e acessibilidade. As hipóteses apontam para que o jornalista móvel seja capaz de produzir conteúdo jornalístico com rapidez, incluindo maior variedade de formatos, além de ter o acesso facilitado aos locais mais afastados e aos personagens para as entrevistas. Para testá-las, realizou-se uma pesquisa exploratória através de uma metodologia mista: um questionário online, que obteve 53 respostas, para avaliar o grau de concordância ou discordância dos próprios jornalistas móveis em relação às hipóteses; também se realizaram quatro entrevistas com especialistas, para entender suas percepções acerca do fenômeno. O resultado da pesquisa se mostrou favorável às hipóteses, além de confirmar o processo de individualização laboral no jornalismo e o mojo enquanto técnica jornalística adequada às exigências do mercado da comunicação no século XXI.RESUMEN – El artículo se desarrolló en el ámbito del proyecto Erasmus+ PAgES y tiene como objetivo investigar el periodismo móvil (mojo) como una nueva técnica del periodismo digital, destacando tres características: agilidad, flexibilidad y accesibilidad. Las hipótesis apuntan a que el periodista móvil podrá producir contenido periodístico de forma rápida, incluyendo una mayor variedad de formatos, además de tener un acceso más fácil a los lugares más remotos y los personajes para las entrevistas. Para ponerlas a prueba se realizó una investigación exploratoria con una metodología mixta: una encuesta en línea, que obtuvo 53 respuestas, para evaluar el grado de acuerdo o desacuerdo de los propios periodistas móviles con respecto a las hipótesis; también se realizaron cuatro entrevistas con expertos para comprender sus percepciones del fenómeno. El resultado de la investigación fue favorable a las hipótesis, además de confirmar el proceso de individualización laboral en el periodismo y el mojo como técnica periodística adecuada a las exigencias del mercado de la comunicación en el siglo XXI.

With the advent of the digital age also arrived the new information and communication technologies and with them mobile devices, which changed the way in which humanity communicates both day by day and in professional ways. The forms of interpersonal interaction, the forms of journalism production and the forms of access to information all changed. This text explores a project with a strong interest in the practices that occur in traditional newsrooms, related to written journalism, and the use of smartphones and tablets to produce publishable journalistic content on their digital platforms. PEMO —short Spanish counterpart to MOJO— Cafetero, in short, is a research project that aims to account of the usage practices of smartphones and tablets in the newsrooms of three traditional media outlets in the Colombian Coffee Region: La Patria from Manizales, El Diario from Pereira and La Crónica del Quindío from Armenia.

The current paper focuses on the development of an enhanced Mobile Journalism (MoJo) model for soundscape heritage crowdsourcing, data-driven storytelling, and management in the era of big data and the semantic web. Soundscapes and environmental sound semantics have a great impact on cultural heritage, also affecting the quality of human life, from multiple perspectives. In this view, context- and location-aware mobile services can be combined with state-of-the-art machine and deep learning approaches to offer multilevel semantic analysis monitoring of sound-related heritage. The targeted utilities can offer new insights toward sustainable growth of both urban and rural areas. Much emphasis is also put on the multimodal preservation and auralization of special soundscape areas and open ancient theaters with remarkable acoustic behavior, representing important cultural artifacts. For this purpose, a pervasive computing architecture is deployed and investigated, utilizing both client- and cloud-wise semantic analysis services, to implement and evaluate the envisioned MoJo methodology. Elaborating on previous/baseline MoJo tools, research hypotheses and questions are stated and put to test as part of the human-centered application design and development process. In this setting, primary algorithmic backend services on sound semantics are implemented and thoroughly validated, providing a convincing proof of concept of the proposed model.

This paper aims to shed light on the fundamental and radical changes that smart phones ignited in terms of media practices since its first appearance in the first decade of the 21th century. It refers to many books and studies that focus on the impact of smart phones, and how they help the citizen to turn from a consumer to a producer of content “UGC: UserGenerated content “in addition to the emergence of new forms of press like citizen journalism or mobile journalism “MOJO”. In this paper, the author emphasized that media institutions and companies were compelled to embark on the new wave in order to easily reach the audience (with all their rules and techniques to consume /produce content) by providing them with ubiquitous content wherever and whenever they are.

Este trabalho detalha o processo produtivo de um produto jornalístico para tablets-iPad no formato Folio voltado para a Educação. A concepção envolve apuração, checagem de informações, redação, editoração e demais etapas do trabalho do Jornalista, mas pensado para ser aplicado de forma didática em sala de aula, para um público-alvo de ensino fundamental, de 12 a 14 anos. A partir do software Adobe Indesign e as ferramentas gratuitas Adobe para publicação e distribuição de documentos na nuvem, cria-se um modo simples, rápido, barato e de fácil atualização para professores trabalharem com os estudantes em salas de aula de qualquer lugar com acesso à internet. O formato Folio permite adicionar um visual atrativo e possibilidades de interação como jogos, botões de navegação, vídeos, galerias de imagens e áudios para despertar a curiosidade diante de assuntos que devem ser trabalhados como parte do currículo escolar, mas não precisam estar limitados ao espaço do livro didático. ABSTRACT This paper details the production process of a journalistic product for tablet-iPad Folio format in facing education. The design involves counting, checking information, writing, publishing and other stages of the work of the journalist, but thought to be applied in a didactic way in the classroom for an elementary school audience of 12 to 14 years. From Adobe Indesign software and free Adobe tools for publication and distribution of documents in the cloud, you create a simple, fast, cheap and easy to update for teachers working with students in classrooms from anywhere with internet access. The Folio format allows you to add a visual attraction and possibilities of interaction as games, navigation buttons, videos, galleries of images and audios to arouse curiosity on matters that should be worked out as part of the school curriculum, but need not be limited to the space of the textbook. RESUMEN Este trabajo detalla el proceso de fabricación de un producto periodístico para tabletas iPad Folio formato centrado en la educación. El diseño implica la verificación, comprobación de información, escritura, publicación y otras etapas de la obra de la periodista, pero pensado para ser aplicado en el aula de enseñanza, a un público objetivo de la escuela primaria, de 12 a 14 años. Adobe Indesign software y herramientas gratuitas de Adobe para la publicación y distribución de documentos en la nube, se crea un simple, rápido, barato y fácil de actualización para profesores que trabajan con estudiantes en las clases desde cualquier lugar con acceso a internet. El formato de Folio le permite añadir un atractivo visual y posibilidades de interacción como botones de navegación, videos, juegos, galerías de imágenes y audios para despertar la curiosidad en asuntos que deben elaborarse como parte del currículum escolar, pero no necesita ser limitado al espacio del libro de texto. O consumo de notícias em cibermeios é em sua maioria feito a partir da publicação cronológica das notícias, da busca por temas específicos, ou pela leitura daquilo que é considerado mais importante pelo editor do jornal e colocado em destaque. Consumir notícias pelo filtro da localização geográfica da pessoa é uma nova possibilidade criada pelos Sistemas Baseados em Localização, que reúnem o acesso à internet, os sistemas de posição geográfica tecnologias de dispositivos de comunicação móvel. Para iniciar uma análise a respeito disso que aqui chamamos de Jornalismo Baseado em Localização, é apresentado o exemplo do site de notícias Breaking News e como ele vem utilizando esses recursos. Consume news at the person's geographic location filter is a new opportunity created by Location Based Systems, which gathers the internet, the geographical position systems technologies for mobile communications devices. To start a review about it here called Journalism Based on location, the example of Breaking News news website is presented and how it has been using these resources. En consumo de noticias, hecho por el intermedio del filtro de ubicación geográfica de la persona, es una nueva posibilidad creada por los Sistemas Basados ​​en la Ubicación, que reúne el acceso a internet, los sistemas de posición geográfica y las tecnologías de dispositivos de comunicación móviles. Para iniciar un análisis sobre el tema propuesto, acerca de lo que en este artículo hemos llamado Periodismo Basado en la Ubicación, se presenta el ejemplo del sitio de noticias Breaking News y cómo se ha estado utilizando de estos recursos. This research deals with the study of the transformations brought about by communication technology using the smartphone in the production of media content for media institutions in the Kurdistan Region - Iraq. Where the study aims to identify the extent to which journalists and media professionals in Kurdish media institutions use mobile phone journalism (MOJO) as the first stage of smart journalism in the production of media content. The study relied on the descriptive approach, using the newspaper survey tool to collect and analyze data, and journalists and media professionals GK, Rudaw, Zhyan, Xendan and Esta constituted a sample for the study. The study found that the majority of mobile phone press users are from the news websites journalist compared to the satellite channel journalist, and the majority of journalists and media professionals in the Kurdish media institutions use mobile phone press for the purpose of producing the news in the first place, then the production of the interview in the second place. The press report ranked third.

Due to the visual turn in journalism and the emergence of mobile journalism, many newspaper journalists have had to change the way they work and learn to use new tools. To face these changes, traditional news organizations apply different strategies to increase staff competencies in using new production tools and creating innovative content in new formats. In this paper, we investigate how a specific training arrangement was experienced by a group of 40 print editors and journalists in a German regional publishing house. The journalists were introduced to audio-visual storytelling and reporting with smartphones in a 2-week training course. The training arrangements were studied using participant observation and in-depth interviews, followed by a thematic analysis of the data. The study indicates that for print journalists and editors, the transition from the print to the mojo mindset depends on three dimensions: (i) mastering mojo skills, (ii) adopting visual thinking and (iii) integrating ethical and legal awareness.

Abstract: The rapid development of the times, affecting all forms of change and progress for society. Technological transformation in the field of communication and information dissemination is one of those affected by these changes. Cellphones or cell phones are a means of communication technology in the production of content. Mobile Journalism (MOJO) can be unique in terms of convergence and multimedia in journalistic practice professionally. MOJO practice is implemented by media companies with different practices, one of which is the Voice of America media, the Indonesian bureau. Using a qualitative research methodology and a constructivist paradigm, researchers explore how technology determines VOA journalists in the Reductionistic, Monistic, Neutralizing, and Technological Imperative spheres. MOJO is dissected through the case study method according to Robert E. Stake. Qualitative data analysis was carried out by interviews, document analysis, and observation. The results of the study show that MOJO helps journalists simplify their tasks, especially in the technical aspects. But it's not without drawbacks, for example coverage using a smartphone result not as good as if using a professional camera. In addition, the use of smartphones during coverage often gives an unprofessional impression, thereby affecting the trustworthiness of the informants during coverage. Abstrak: Perkembangan zaman secara pesat, memengaruhi segala bentuk perubahan dan kemajuan bagi masyarakat. Transformasi teknologi di bidang komunikasi dan penyebaran informasi menjadi salah satu yang terkena dampak perubahan tersebut. Handphone atau telepon genggam menjadi salah satu alat teknologi komunikasi dalam produksi sebuah konten. Mobile Journalism (MOJO) dapat menjadi keunikan tersendiri dari segi konvergensi dan multimedia pada praktik jurnalis secara profesional praktik MOJO diimplementasikan oleh perusahaan media dengan praktik yang berbeda-beda, salah satunya media Voice of Amerika biro Indonesia. Penelitian berparadigma konstruktivis dengan metodologi penelitian kualitatif, yakni mengeksplorasi bagaimana praktik mobile journalism pada jurnalis VOA. MOJO dibedah melalui metode studi kasus menurut Robert E. Stake. Analisis data kualitatif dilakukan dengan wawancara, analisis dokumen, dan observasi. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa MOJO membantu para jurnalis menyederhanakan tugas mereka khususnya dalam aspek teknis, melalui smartphone, seorang jurnalis bisa merekam dan/atau menyiarkan langsung peristiwa dari smartphone mereka. Namun bukan tanpa kekurangan, misalnya liputan menggunakan smartphone hasil video dan audionya tak sebagus jika menggunakan kamera profesional. Selain itu penggunaan smartphone saat liputan seringkali memberikan kesan tidak profesional sehingga mempengaruhi kepercayaan narasumber saat liputan.
