Erabilera gora joan zen eta Bilbon %10 izatetik %23 izatera heldu zen. Ezabatzeko erabilitako bideak desberdinak izan ziren erregistroetan. Amaitzeko legeak baimendu zuenean berreskuratutako izenak ere aztertu dira.

Speech recognition has not withered in the years since John Pierce's 1969 editorial. Far from it, speech recognition is everywhere, and now works very reliably, even when speaking to a speech assistant in another room with music playing in the background. If the current speech technology is widely available to billions of users, then the next frontier is to provide the same technology to the next billion users (NBUs). In addition, all of us have limited capabilities to speak and understand the acoustic world around us, whether it rises to the level to be labeled a real disability, or arises due to fatigue or being distracted. The next frontier for speech and hearing is to accommodate all of our needs, disabled or not as they arise in the real world, for not just the first billion users, but the next billion, and the next billion after that. The available technologies include real-time speech recognition (and translation) for the hard of hearing, real-time speech enhancement, and auditory attention decoding from EEG signals.

Abstract Die Erforschung der DDR-Geschichte ist notwendig, um gegenwärtige Problemlagen wie die in Ostdeutschland heute erkennbaren Spannungen besser zu verstehen, die zumindest teilweise in den Jahren zwischen 1945 und 1990 wurzeln. Zudem geht es um das nach wie vor aktuelle historiografische Problem, neue Fragen an die DDR als Teil der deutschen und europäischen Geschichte zu stellen. Die Autorinnen und Autoren des Podiums Zeitgeschichte thematisieren zunächst die Geschichte der Sowjetischen Besatzungszone (Jürgen John) und der frühen DDR (Elke Scherstjanoi). Petra Weber befasst sich dann mit der Gesellschaftsgeschichte der DDR im deutsch-deutschen Kontext, Frieder Günther stellt Überlegungen zur Behördenforschung im Ost-West-Vergleich an, und Florian Peters sucht nach dem historischen Ort der DDR in der Geschichte des östlichen Europa. Den Abschluss bilden Betrachtungen von Michael Schwartz zur Rolle der DDR in der Geschichte der zeithistorischen Transformationen seit den 1980er Jahren.

Skräck har länge varit en fascinerande genre inom filmmediet. Alla har sin egna tolkning av vad skräck är för dem men många skräckfilmer är allmänt accepterade som skrämmande. En sådan skräckfilm är John Carpenters The thing. Filmen blev universellt ratad när den kom ut men har genom åren fått ett kultfölje. Eftersom filmen är så omtalad har det varit av intresse att undersöka skräckkomponenter den använder. För att avgränsa sig har uppsatsen fokuserat på bildkomposition och ljussättning i filmen. För att förstå filmens olika medel har uppsatsen delat upp analysen i olika stadier av skräck vilka är oro, fruktan, terror, skräck och avsky. Dessa stadier har sedan delats in i tre kapitel där oro och fruktan står för uppbyggnad, terror och avsky står för filmens monster som attackerar och skräck står för reaktion hos karaktärer. Genom denna uppdelning har uppsatsen undersökt hur de olika stadierna i skräck gestaltas med bildkompositioner och ljussättning. De genomgående slutsatserna är att kameraåkningar och olika sorters kontraster används för att försöka inge publiken i skräck. Utöver det så återanvänds olika bildkompositioner och ljussättningar för att återkoppla scener till varandra i ett försök att stärka de senare scenerna med vad som varit tidigare. Detta resultat sätts slutligen i ett perspektiv om hur det kan användas vilket är som potentiellt tillvägagångssätt för att skapa skräck samt grund för vidare studier om ämnet.

Cruise tourism is expanding everywhere, despite the pandemic; CLIA (2021) reports that, in 2020, the economic damage was around 77 billion dollars, but records a significant increase in travelers who aspire to join a cruise. Cruise ships and their economic impact have been the subject of research for many years and the data, which can be obtained from various sources, denote the importance of this particular sector. Through the MSC case study, this contribution aims to partecipate in the reflection on the theme of sustainability, to look at the possibility of directing cruise tourism towards a new way of introducing Man into the landscape.

Abstract The collaboration of fortepianist Malcolm Bilson and John Eliot Gardiner on a complete Mozart piano concerto cycle was inaugurated amid loud publicity in 1983, and the first releases appeared on Archiv the next year. Commenting in the February 1987 issue of Opus on the K. 414 and K. 450 recordings jin connection with a “competing” release by Steven Lubin), I cautioned that it was perhaps “too early yet for hosannas and fanfares.”That was then. Now the series is complete, and it is time to throw caution to the English Baroque Soloists’ winds! Get out the trumpets and the drums! Calooh, calay! Great performing is great performing; it renders questions of performance practice, historical verisimilitude, authenticity, call it what you will, utterly moot. And in their later recordings jmostly of the later concertos, but also-even especially! - of K. 238 ), Bilson, Gardiner, and the English Baroque Soloists have realized a level of performance that has to be termed great, whether we are speaking of matters technical or aesthetic. At such a level, the two are one.

John Paulson made billions by identifying mortgage bubble before the inevitable crash and put at least one of those billions into the leading US school textbook publisher, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. It is a billion that he will never see again. Paulson was one of a number of fortunate investors who lost a fortune as the fabled publisher changed hands repeatedly starting in 2001, following a relatively stable and prosperous century of operations. The failure to understand the structure of this industry and these markets, led to repeated insolvency. Poor strategies and execution combined with far too much debt being placed on the business were the culprit in this completely preventable disaster.

Abstract Two strategies dominate discussions about curbing greenhouse gas emissions and oil use: vehicle efficiency and low-carbon fuels. But there’s a third strategy that’s also very important: motivating better behavior. People, acting as consumers, travelers, voters, and investors, are central to all strategies to reduce oil use and carbon footprints. With the rest of the world following America’s lead in mobility matters, it’s especially important for Americans to adjust their behavior. The primary challenge is to awaken an American public largely ignorant of the energy and climate implications of their decisions, and to motivate American consumers to align their choices with the greater public good—what U.S. Senator John McCain has repeatedly called “a cause greater than self-interest.” Consumers have a lot of say about the future of global mobility. If consumers demand more socially and environmentally responsible products, manufacturers must respond to these demands or risk market loss. Changes in consumers’ purchasing preferences can fundamentally alter the market-place, as demonstrated recently by the shrinking market share of big SUVs and the growing market share of hybrid vehicles. Consumers have the power to motivate market shifts and technological innovation.

The world's food production is four billion metric tons per year, of which 1.3 billion tons get wasted. As the world population reaches 9.8 billion in 2050, the world food demand will be around 14,886 million tons. Around 800 million people are going hungry every day, and another 2 billion people will join by 2050. The problem is not inadequate production but inefficient food handling and excess wastage. The traditional agriculture systems of production and consumption have several social, economic, and environmental implications. Without proper measures, it is doubtful to mitigate hunger even with surplus production. Therefore, adopting circular agri-food supply chains is a viable option to reduce and reuse food waste to develop a sustainable model.

Abstract The strategy of the Sara Lee Corporation calls for obtaining the highest possible market share in nondurable product lines in global markets. Sara Lee is accomplishing this goal largely through acquisitions of firms in other countries. In recent years it has acquired businesses operating in seven different countries with more than $ billion in annual sales. Most of these acquisitions were in nondurable product lines outside the food business. Sara Lee continues to negotiate for businesses in Italy and Mexico and to search for opportunities in the former Soviet Union. Sara Lee is admired by Wall Street analysts for its global perspective; CEO John H. Bryan foresees the possibility of 4 billion new customers entering the international marketplace and is positioning Sara Lee to service these new customers.

Abstract The second phase of Johan Sverdrup came on stream in December 2022. This paper focuses on the execution of Johan Sverdrup phase 2 and describes the assessments and investments for improved oil recovery (IOR) from one of the largest oil fields in Norway. The Johan Sverdrup field development has been called Equinor's ‘digital flagship’, and this paper includes the proof of concept for the digital initiatives after more than three years of operation. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic Johan Sverdrup phase 2 has been able to deliver on schedule, under budget, and with an excellent safety record. The paper includes experiences from the concept development and engineering phase to the global contracting strategy, through the construction on multiple building sites in Norway and globally, and until the end of the completion phase offshore Norway. Johan Sverdrup is the third largest oil field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), and with recoverable reserves estimated at 2.7 billion barrels of oil equivalents, has the resources to be a North Sea Giant. Start-up of the Johan Sverdrup phase 2 extends and accelerates oil and gas production from the NCS for another five decades. This paper aims to highlight what it took to make Johan Sverdrup a true North Sea Giant, fit for the 21st century: a safe and successful execution of a mega-project, with next-generation facilities adapted to a more digital way of working, with an ambition to profitably recover more than 70% of the resources, while limiting carbon emissions from production to a minimum. In many ways the Johan Sverdrup development has set a new standard for project execution in Equinor. The impact of different variables made during the execution of the project, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, market effects, procurement strategies, value improvement initiatives, execution performance and reservoir characteristics is addressed, as well as describing assessments and investments for improved oil recovery (IOR). Data acquisition, Permanent Reservoir Monitoring (PRM), fibre-optic monitoring of wells, innovative technologies, and digitalization, as well as new ways of working are included. Equinor´s digital strategy was established in 2017, and Johan Sverdrup was highlighted as a digital flagship at that time and a frontrunner in applying digital solutions to improve safety and efficiency from the development to the operational phase. What has been implemented so far together with experiences will be shared.

The people’s need for social connectedness was thoroughly documented and established in research literature. Currently, we experience rapidly increasing technological developments which not only allow for new ways of ‘digital’ connections, but, arguably so, require people to use digital channels of socializing. The use of Internet, in general, and social media, is not limited to searching for information but it includes also knowledge construction. However, not all of us react the same when faced with change in our lives, and even more so, with respect to the use of new technologies. Ageing is increasingly important because of the role of the elderlies in the modern society. Increasingly more elderly citizens live active and connected lives. The advances in medicine and the increase in welfare lead to an increase in life expectancy and to an unprecedented diversity in terms of age with respect to the use of social media. With a current 2.34 billion users of social media, and with a projected increase of 200 million new users in 2017, more than a few elderly users are expected to join social media. As such, the question arises, is there such a thing as a “generational gap/divide”, with respect to the use of social media, in general, and social networking, in particular? Current research provide some conflicting evidence, with most studies refraining from tacking age directly and resorting to considering age as a moderator of other pathways of influence between various predictors and outcomes of interest. We present a synthetic but thorough and updated review of the state of the art with respect to the past and current approaches to investigating the role of age in interindividual differences with respect to the adoption of social media, with a specific focus on social networking media.

For the past 21 years and counting, the Port of New Bedford has been America’s highest grossing commercial fishing port and the epicenter of the industry on the East Coast. According to one recent study, the Port generates – largely through fishing, seafood processing, and related businesses – over $11 billion in economic output and supports nearly 7,000 jobs. The Port is the primary economic engine of Southeastern Massachusetts. As a means of diversifying the region’s economic base, New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell and his Administration have worked for nearly a decade to position New Bedford to become the leader in offshore wind. New Bedford is now in a highly advantageous position to support the emergence of the American offshore wind industry. It is the closest industrial port to the Massachusetts and Rhode Island Wind Energy Areas, the largest cluster of wind energy areas on the East Coast with the acreage to support development of 14 GW of offshore wind power. As a result, the Port of New Bedford has the distinction of being the first U.S. port to host the marshalling and construction of a commercial-scale offshore wind development project. This effort requires a great deal of preparation, investment, and planning, much of which is well underway. The goal of the New Bedford Port Authority is to promote development that allows both commercial fishing and offshore wind industries to thrive. This paper discusses the various public and private infrastructure investments in the Port. These investments are creating new bulkhead and terminal space as well as rehabilitating derelict waterfront properties. Because New Bedford Harbor is a Superfund site, most of these infrastructure developments are permitted through the State Enhanced Remedy (SER) process. This process enables projects that meet specific criteria through the Record of Decision to be permitted within weeks rather than months. Several public and private projects permitted through the SER process are, by necessity, interdependent..

Mojave National Preserve (MOJA) in the Mojave Desert of southern California hosts an extensive geologic record, with units ranging in age from the Paleoproterozoic (2.5 to 1.7 billion years ago) to the Quaternary (present day). MOJA topography is dominated by numerous mountain ranges hosting extensive geological exposures divided by expansive valleys, dunes, and a low elevation dry salt lake. Some geological units are fossil-bearing, both within the preserve and in adjacent lands outside the boundaries of the preserve. The fossils preserved within MOJA span from the Proterozoic Eon (uncertain maximum age of fossiliferous rocks, but at least approximately 550 million years ago) to the Holocene Epoch (beginning 11,700 years ago). Abundant and diverse marine fossils are preserved in units dated from the late Proterozoic through most of the Cambrian, as well as from the Devonian through the early Permian. More recent volcanic tuff and unconsolidated sedimentary deposits in valleys preserve Cenozoic flora and fauna. Geologic surveys documented paleontological resources within the modern (2023) boundaries of MOJA as early as 1914, but fossils were rarely the focus of detailed study, and no comprehensive inventory was compiled. John Hazzard was the first geologist to devote significant attention to the study of paleontology within MOJA. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, Hazzard and collaborators identified Paleozoic assemblages within the Kelso and Providence Mountains. Between the 1950s to 1980s, several dissertations and theses described the geology of various areas within MOJA, in which the authors provided limited paleontological descriptions and fossil locality information. Jack Mount conducted extensive paleontological research in the Cambrian sections of the Providence Mountains in the 1970s and 1980s, focusing on olenellid trilobites in the Latham Shale. As early as the 1960s, rockhounds collecting opalite and petrified wood discovered fossilized plant material and vertebrate bones in areas now in south-central MOJA and notified paleontologists at San Bernardino County Museum (SBCM). This resulted in one of the only paleontological excavations in what is now MOJA, with collections of Miocene vertebrate fauna including camelid and early rhino material. More recently, James Hagadorn reported the late-surviving Ediacaran organism Swartpuntia in an assemblage from the Wood Canyon Formation of the Kelso Mountains in 2000. From October 2021 to January 2022, a field inventory was conducted to determine the scope and distribution (both temporal and geospatial) of paleontological resources at MOJA. An additional week of field work was conducted in December 2022. A total of thirteen localities were documented and field-checked throughout the preserve. These localities resulted from field checks of previously reported fossil sites, as well as new discoveries based on literature searches and information provided by MOJA staff. The findings of this report constitute a baseline of paleontology resource data for MOJA, and reflect the current understanding of the scope, significance, and distribution of MOJA’s fossil record.
