Abstract Benign fibrous histiocytoma is a rare and usually painless oral neoplasm found in adults that may affect either soft tissue or bone typically noted in their fifth decade. This case was found in a 32 year-old Caucasian male who presented with a fairly well circumscribed unilocular radiolucent lesion extending from the mandibular right first incisor to the left first premolar and reaching the inferior mandible on a panoramic radiograph. A bony window was created and the intrabony lesion was curetted. Multiple sections revealed a cellular tumor composed of uniform spindle-shaped cells arranged in a prominent whorled or storiform pattern. Scattered xanthoma cells, multinucleated giant cells, lymphocytes, and deposits of hemosiderin were noted throughout the lesional stroma. Although malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the bone is relatively well known, benign fibrous histiocytoma of the bone is very rare. Citation Ertas U, Büyükkurt MC. Twenty germplasm of jackfruit grown in the Fruit Research Farm of Horticulture Research Centre (HRC), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) were evaluated for growth, yield and yield parameter along with qualitative characters from July 2012 to June 2015. All the germplasm varied for most of the parameters evaluated. The tallest plant was recorded in AH Joy-079(6.75m) and shortest plant in AH Joy-075 (3.50 m) among the germplasm. Base girth ranged from 42.50 cm to 80.20 cm in AH Joy-075 and AH Joy-085, respectively. Maximum plant spreading with North-South and East-West canopy (5.50 m and 6.00 m, respectively) was recorded in AH Joy-079 and minimum (3.00 m and 3.50m) in both AH Joy-075 and AH Joy-090 germplasm. The fruit number varied from 02 to 11 among the germplasm. Individual fruit weight ranged from 2.27 kg to 11.33 kg where AH Joy-034 had the lowest and AH Joy-092 noted the highest fruit weight. Maximum bulb (184) was recorded in AH Joy-092 and minimum (45) in AH Joy-085. Maximum TSS (25.0) was recorded in AH Joy-029 and minimum (14.0) in AH Joy-067 and the edible portion was noted the highest in AH Joy-036 (48.60%) where it was lowest in AH Joy-078 (32.10%). Bulb texture was soft to hard. Maximum germplasm were juicy to medium juicy having yellow to light yellowPulp. Therefore, The germplasm AH Joy-089, AH Joy-017 and AH Joy-092 may be selected for higher yielder. The germplasm AH Joy-034,AH Joy-067, AH Joy-078,AH Joy-085 and AH Joy-098 should be selected for family size jackfruit as their individual fruit weight ranges between 2 to 4 kg including yellow bulb colourcontaining good juiciness and soft bulb texture. Introduction: Chilled saline is commonly used to irrigate the ocular surface after photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and is often considered by the patients to be uncomfortable. Room temperature (non-chilled) saline may be a safe and less painful alternative. Objectives: To compare pain and visual outcomes after irrigating the ocular surface with chilled saline versus room temperature saline in alcohol assisted PRK. Materials and methods: In this prospective, single-masked, randomized, contralateral eye study, myopic eyes were treated with PRK. Immediately after laser ablation one eye was irrigated with chilled saline and the other with non-chilled saline. Primary outcomes measured were pain, haze, uncorrected (UCVA) and best-corrected (BCVA) visual acuities, and manifest refraction. Results: Each group comprised of 40 eyes. There was no significant difference in pain between the groups at any point during five days after surgery. At 6 months the mean UCVA was -0.08 logMAR ± .077 [SD] (20/17) and -0.07 ± .074 logMAR (20/17) in the chilled and non-chilled groups respectively (p =.35). Both groups achieved 95% UCVA of 20/20 or better. The manifest refraction spherical equivalent (MRSE) was -0.05 ± 0.21 D and -0.025 ± 0.27 D respectively (p = .79). There were no lines lost of BCVA and no haze observed. Similar outcomes were observed with regard to pain and vision in both groups. Abstract The aim of the present study was to evaluate the swallowing patterns of the tongue using B-mode sonography. A total of 65 patients aged between eight and 35 years were enrolled in the study including 25 controls. The swallowing patterns of the 40 patients were divided into groups of ten normal, 12 inconsistent, and 18 abnormal. Eight patients with a swallowing abnormality had Angle Class I occlusions, two had Class II, and the remaining ten patients had Class III. The majority of abnormal or inconsistent swallowing patterns were found in cases of mandibular prognathism. Quantitative data was not analyzed in this study. The results of this study show that B-mode sonography, being a non-invasive procedure permitting direct visualization of the movements of the tongue in both coronal and sagittal planes, can be used with certainty for diagnosing swallowing abnormalities. Assessment of genetic diversity and relationships based on RAPD and AFLP analyses in Miscanthus genera landraces. Can. J. Plant Sci. 93: 171–182. In this study, molecular markers, random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) as well as combined RAPD and AFLP analysis were used to assess genetic diversity in a reference set of 38 Miscanthus accessions of which 32 were collected from South Korea and 6 from foreign countries. Using 30 selected RAPD primers, 197 amplified products were generated with an average of 6.6 bands, of which 135 bands were polymorphic (68.6%). A total of 1150 bands were detected by four-primer AFLP combinations with an average of 287.5 bands, out of which 923 bands were polymorphic (80.3%) across all the accessions. Analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) indicated that a high proportion of the genetic variation (56% for RAPD and 58% for AFLP) was found among the Miscanthus species in South Korea. Genetic relationship was estimated using the Jaccard's coefficient values between different accessions, ranging from 0.23 to 0.93 in RAPD and 0.34 to 0.94 in AFLP. The un-weighted pair group method with arithmetic mean (UPGMA) analysis demonstrated less difference between RAPD and AFLP when alternative similarity coefficient was applied. The principal coordinates (PCO) analysis also revealed the significant geographic structure in the tested accessions. Among the accessions, SNU-M-040, 074 and 157 were highly divergent. Pattern of isolation by distance was observed in Miscanthus accessions, indicating that significant genetic differentiation among accessions might be due to the geographic distance.

Abstract The aim of the study was to determine how the morphology of occlusal surfaces might affect occlusal loading that is transferred to the tooth apex. Photoelastic methods were used to assess apical stress generated by seven variations of occlusions. A test assembly with a 2 kg weight was applied to teeth to create a vertical load. By analyzing the direction and magnitude of the apical principle stress under the polar light that was measured at the apexes of mandibular teeth, the occlusal loading position of each tooth and its direction was obtained based on general mechanical principles. It was found distal incline planes (or slopes) of cusps and lingual incline planes (or slope) of buccal cusps of mandibular posterior teeth carried the greatest occlusal load in normal occlusion. In the other six variations of occlusion presented in this study, the principle apical stresses changed more or less as a result of the different occlusal contact relationships. The magnitude of principle apical stress increased considerably in the flat surface occlusion because of the lack of distribution of occlusion loading by the smooth dentition surface. It is concluded the occlusal surface morphology has a significant effect on the direction and magnitude of apical stress. Abstract The aim of this study was to identify the perceived sources of stress among dental students, dental hygiene students, and dental technology students enrolled at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). The modified dental environment stress questionnaire was administered to 183 students. The perceived stressors varied between major and year. Dental students gave high scores for examinations, reduced holidays, inadequate time for relaxation, fear of failure, completing clinical requirements, and differences in opinion between staff. Dental hygiene students gave the highest scores for uncertainty about the field of study as future career, examinations, inadequate clinical training and supervision, inadequate relaxation, and discrimination between students. Dental technology students also gave high scores for uncertainty about future career, examinations, approachability of the staff, inadequate relaxation, and completing requirements. Females are more stressed than males with regard to personal factors. Dental technology and/or dental hygiene students have significantly higher scores than dental students in 12 items. Students who reported their first choice of study was not their current field of study showed more stress concerning their future careers. La question est de savoir comment Hésiode se représente la parole, et comment il inscrit son verbe poétique dans cette représentation d'ensemble. L'étude comporte quatre parties. Les deux premières présentent le dossier sémantique et stylistique : étude raisonnée des réseaux lexicaux, analyse des passages aux styles direct et indirect et de leur place dans le récit. On constate le rigueur d'Hésiode et son originalité par rapport aux passages homériques qu'il utilise dans un sens nouveau. Hésiode n'a pas de la parole une représentation générale: l'expression des hommes est imparfaite et seconde par rapport aux situations. Inversement la parole divine préfigure les actes. De cette différence entre paroles humaine et divine, la troisième partie reconstitue l'histoire, qui reste implicite, en explorant la théogonie, "histoire" du monde et des dieux. La confrontation de plusieurs séries d'occurrences fait apparaitre qu'autrefois les hommes partageaient avec les dieux une parole qu'ils ont progressivement perdue en se séparant d'eux et devenant mortels (processus qui s'achevé dans le mythe prométhéen et est confirmé par les mythes des travaux). La quatrième partie étudie les passages ou Hésiode évoque sa fonction. Elle établit que les muses restituent au poète l'antique voix, qui lui permet de révéler la vérité en restant maitre de ses formes: fictions adaptées aux capacités limitées des hommes ou vérité directe. Cette dernière est principalement constituée des noms transparents retrouves grâce au don des muses. Etant seul à maitriser la langue des hommes et des dieux, le poète installe au centre du monde son verbe, indispensable à la communication cosmique
This problem is to know what is Hesiod’s representation of speech, and in which way he integrates his own poetic speech in this view. The study is made up of four parts. The first two present the semantic and stylistic documents. It is to be noted that Hesiod gives an original touch to the homeric texts he uses to introduce new meanings. The poet has no general view of speech: the human way of speaking is defective, and comes second to situations. Reversely the gods'speech precedes actions. The third development reconstitutes the history of this difference between men's and gods' ways of speaking. In the theogony, considered as a kind of world "history", different series of expressions are collected and compared. It appears that in the past, men and gods spoke the same language, which men lost in the course of a long process of separation from gods, the end of which being the myth of prometheus. Their voice is now conform to their mortal destiny, which is not original. The myths in the works and days are in accordance with these conclusions. The fourth section studies the way hesiod tells of his job. It appears that the muses give him back the ancient voice. . Which permits him to reveal the truth. But at the same time, be remains responsible for the poetical forms, these being either tales appropriate to the small capacities of men, or clear truth. This is mostly made up of the transparent names he re-discovered thanks to be muses. Thus the poet, knowing men's and gods' language, places himself in the center of the world, for his speech is indispensable to cosmic communication

Hésiode présente des développements nouveaux sur le monde, par rapport à Homère. Notamment, il raconte en termes mythiques les origines du monde et décrit sa structure dans le passage de la Tartarographie. Les généalogies divines permettent de structurer l'évolution, à partir du Chaos, mot neutre inventé par Hésiode, et dont l'absence de définition stimule l'interrogation et se prête à de multiples interprétations. Les premières divinités en jeu ont déjà perdu tout caractère anthropomorphique et préparent leur substitution par des concepts équivalents purement physiques. C'est ainsi qu'Hésiode prépare le terrain à l'émergence des cosmologies des philosophes présocratiques. Les modalités de cette influence sont examinées dans les fragments de Thalès, Anaximandre, Anaximène, Xénophane, Héraclite, Parménide, Empédocle et Anaxagore. L'approche choisie est essentiellement lexicale, afin de minimiser les problèmes de transmission inhérents au caractère fragmentaire des textes
Hesiod develops new ideas about the world, distinguishing his thought from Homer's. He uses myth to tell the story of the origins and describes the structure of the world, as it appears in the Tartarography. The genealogies of the Gods structure an evolution that takes its start in Chaos, a neutral-gendered word created by Hesiod himself. The first divinities have already lost all anthropomorphic aspect and are ready to be substituted by equivalent physical concepts. Thus does Hesiod prepare the emergence of presocratic cosmologies. His influence is examined in the fragments of Thales, Anaximander, Anaximenes, Xenophanes, Heraclitus, Parmenides, Empedocles and Anaxagoras. The approach is essentially lexical, so as to reduce the problems of transmission inherent to the fragmentary nature of the texts

Parce que Romulus a été considéré comme le représentant du peuple romain, son image a directement reflété les troubles de la fin de la République, au point qu'elle est devenue un enjeu idéologique entre ennemis de Rome et Romains d'une part, optimates et populares d'autre part. Les regards contradictoires portés sur le fondateur ont transformé la légende des origines, évolution dont les sources d'époque augustéenne et postérieure ont gardé la trace. L'actualisation du mythe, adapté aux réalités et aux conflits du Ier siècle avant J. -C. , a conduit à sa politisation, et le cadre de pensée est alors devenu une arme de propagande politique sur laquelle se sont appuyés les chefs charismatiques pour imposer une forme de gouvernement d'inspiration monarchique : Romulus, premier roi de Rome, a aussi été un acteur de la " révolution romaine ", fondant ainsi symboliquement le difficile passage de la République à l'Empire

1- Hésiode. Après un résumé de la Théogonie (ch. 1) et un commentaire serré des deux versions du mythe (ch. II), l'auteur analyse la façon dont la ruse fonctionne (ch. III). Le ch. IV est l'analyse proprement dite. On y démontre que le mythe fonde la condition humaine, l'établissement du sacrifice, la séparation des hommes et des dieux, la fin de l'âge d'or, le statut de l'homme entre bêtes et dieux, la reproduction sexuée et enfin les échanges. Le ch. V est consacré au mythe des races. Les chapitres VI et VII complètent des points de détail par le biais du statut du langage et de la descendance de Nuit. Le chapitre VIII est méthodologique. 2- Eschyle : après un ch. Méthodologique (IX), l'auteur conclut que la pièce d'Eschyle n'est pas une variante du mythe hésiodique (X) mais que l'histoire des Lemniennes l'est (XI). Il cherche alors d'autres mythes qui fondent le sacrifice (XII) et la génération sexuée (XIII). 3- Le Caucase : une relecture des mythes caucasiens sélectionnés par Georges Charachidzé conclut qu'ils sont plus proches d'Hésiode que d'Eschyle

Chapter V covers the Myth of Ages. Vi and VV clarifies obscure points in the myth by studying the status of language and the lineage of Night. VIII is purely methodological. Aeschylus : after a methodological chapter, the author's conclusion is that the play of Aeschylus is not a variant of the Hesiodic myth, unlike the story of the Lemnian Woman, which is indeed such a variation. La déesse terre apparait essentiellement, dans l'épopée homérique, comme témoin de serments. Elle se distingue mal, en tant que personne divine, de l'élément qu'elle personnifie et n'est jamais représentée comme anthropomorphe. L'ensemble de la poésie dite "homérique" représente la terre comme l'un des principaux moteurs du cycle de la vie et de la mort. La déesse terre joue un rôle de second ordre dans les poèmes homériques, nettement dominés par les dieux olympiens. Hésiode accorde en revanche à la déesse terre, Gaia, une place essentielle dans sa théogonie, en particulier par le rôle de mère, à la fécondité particulièrement remarquable qu'il lui attribue. La terre se distingue par le caractère monstrueux qui caractérise à la fois son aspect physique, certains de ses actes, et sa descendance. Gaia joue enfin un rôle important dans le mythe de succession que met en scène la théogonie en tant que puissance détentrice des arrêts du destin. Comment dire le désir érotique et ses concrétisations ? Des épopées homériques aux odes de Pindare, de la cosmogonie hésiodique à l’invective moraliste et à la passion des lyriques, la présente étude passe au crible l’ensemble des textes grecs de la période archaïque pour éclairer ce phénomène linguistique. Le désir et la sexualité sont traités comme une langue à part, au sein du grec, convoquant un lexique, une syntaxe et une stylistique spécifiques. Le lexique détoure les mots de la langue commune et bâtit les concepts du désir dans une chronologie particulière, détaillant ce que le français construit souvent comme synonymes. Le désir se fait force implacable et artefact magique redoutable. La syntaxe de l’union et de la procréation – au cœur de l’élaboration des généalogies, notamment – se déploie sous de fortes contraintes. Elle oscille entre le frein de la bienséance – érotisme perçu comme inconvenant, alors qu’il joue un rôle incontournable dans la construction des personnages et la structuration de l’univers – et l’excès obscène qui le change en arme morale. Difficile à dire, l’érotisme s’énonce à demi-mot, ou mots grossis, dans un système complexe de conventions. Sa stylistique, enfin, lui donne corps : elle le dessine comme un objet palpable, proche des parures travaillées et des amulettes, lui donnant matière et éclat ; elle le met en scène, surtout dans la nature, qui reflète en profondeur ses ambivalences, entre fascination et danger. Les métaphores érotiques et sexuelles convoquent paysages, plantes et animaux pour ancrer l’homme et son désir dans le monde. How to express erotic desire and its success? From Homeric epics to Pindar’s odes, from Hesiod’s cosmogony to the harsh moral invective, and the passion of lyrics poets, this study examines all the linguistic material from the archaic period to show that process. Desire and sexuality are considered an idiom of their own, within ancient Greek, using their own words, syntax and stylistics. Their words dwell in those of the common tongue and build concepts of desire inside a specific timeline. French is often blind to such a differentiation. Desire turns into an overpowering force and a formidable magical artefact. The syntax of sexual congress and procreation – at the heart of genealogies – thrives through strong constraints, such as decency – and, although eroticism is fundamental in building characters or structuring the world, it is seen as inappropriate – and obscene excess, while fighting for morality. Eroticism is hard to express: it uses the implicit or the caricature, and follows complex conventions. Its stylistics, at last, words its embodiment: desire becomes an object one can touch, wear like an amulet or an ornament, and see, thanks to its glow and material. It is staged, especially in nature, because it reflects its inner ambivalence, between fascination and danger. Erotic and sexual metaphors call out landscapes, plants, and animals, in order to insert desiring human beings into the world. Les préverbes a)na- et kata- sont souvent considérés comme un couple complémentaire, parce qu’avec des verbes de déplacement a)na- marque un mouvement vers le haut et kata- un mouvement vers le bas. Ces deux préverbes ont pourtant eu des emplois très variés qui dépassent largement l’emploi spatial.L’étude des composés présents dans les oeuvres d’Homère, Hésiode et Hérodote permet d’identifier les connotations essentielles associées à ces préverbes dès les premiers textes. A défaut de pouvoir identifier une Urbedeutung, il est possible de comprendre comment le sens de ces préverbes a évolué d’un sens concret vers des emplois plus abstraits. L’étude successive de ces deux composés, en établissant des catégories de significations parmi les verbes, nous per-met découvrir un certain nombre de sèmes qui semblent constitutifs de chacun des deux préverbes. Cela nous montre que le préverbe a)na- est surtout associé à des verbes de mouvement, alors que le préverbe kata- est davantage lié à des verbes statifs ou qui évoquent un processus de destruction.La question de la valeur aspectuelle de ces préverbes est aussi un élément fondamental. L’étude de ces deux préverbes permet de comprendre comment ils ont pu tous les deux acquérir une valeur aspectuelle pour souligner notamment l’accomplissement du procès. Cependant, on constate qu’ils ne correspondent pas au même accomplissement, puisqu’a)na- dénote un accomplissement créatif, tandis que kata- souligne le plus souvent l’accomplissement d’un processus de disparition
The preverbs a)na- et kata- are usually considered as a couple, because for motion verbs a)na- bears an up motion and kata- a down motion. These two preverbs have nevertheless been employed variously and more widely than for merely spatial indications.Studying the compound verbs of the works of Homer, Hesiod and Herodotus allows us to identify the essential conno-tations linked to these preverbs since early literature. Even if we cannot find the Urbedeutung, it’s possible to unders-tand how the meaning of these preverbs has progressed from a concret meaning to an abstract. The ordered investiga-tion of these compound verbs, by distinguishing the different categories of meaning, help us discover some semantic classes which seem to be essential for each preverb. Thus we see that the preverb a)na- is mostly linked to motion verbs, whereas the preverb kata- is more combined with stative verbs or verbs which discribe a disappearance.The question of aspect for the preverbs is also fundamental. The study of these two preverbs allows us to understand how they could, both of them, own an aspectual value to emphazise the process accomplishment. But we can see that it’s not the same accomplishment, since a)na- indicates a creative accomplishment, while kata- most often highlights the accomplishment of a dying process

Plusieurs héroïnes ont su bouleverser le destin de l’humanité, dont la Kahéna. Cette reine rappelle le combat perpétuel de la femme et, depuis son époque lointaine, sa lutte ne cesse de séduire. Elle fut la dernière reine à pouvoir unir le peuple berbère, incarnant ainsi la résistance au nouveau conquérant de l’Afrique, l’Arabe. Les historiens ont fait d’elle un personnage héroïque et les écrivains un personnage mythique. Cette recherche, à travers ses trois parties, tente de souligner l’importance littéraire de cette dimension sociale et politique de la Kahéna. Dans la première, elle retrace l’ensemble des conquêtes qui ont précédé l’invasion arabe en Afrique, l’épisode qui fait surgir son personnage principal. Dans sa seconde partie, elle passe de l’historique au littéraire afin de mettre en avant les différents statuts de la Kahéna dans de multiples textes romanesques. L’image de la reine a été tantôt conforme à la tradition, tantôt en rupture. Chaque auteur adapte son écriture à ses personnages ainsi qu’à son public. Quant à sa troisième partie, elle la consacre à une étude comparative avec deux autres figures mythiques et historiques, Jeanne d’Arc et Cléopâtre ainsi que l’évolution de leur mythe dans la littérature. Cette étude permet d’évoquer les différents portraits de la Kahéna. Malgré la différence culturelle, le personnage garde son statut héroïque, imposant et symbolique, modelé ou embelli selon l’imaginaire romanesque ou l’exigence du siècle. Il devient mythe, demeure vivant et acquiert une richesse littéraire grâce à son actualisation qui répond aux multiples besoins de l’époque
Several heroines knew how to change the fate of humanity, among them the Kahena. This queen reminds people of the perpetual fight of woman. Her fight which fascinated many since her distant time is still captivating. She was the last queen who managed to unite the Berber people, thus representing the resistance against the new conqueror of Africa, the Arab. Historians made of her a heroic figure and writers considered her as a mythical figure. This research work, through its three parts, attempts to emphasize the literary importance of this social and political dimension of the Kahena. In the first part, it recounts all the conquests that preceded the Arab invasion in Africa, the episode which conjures up its main character. In its second part, it goes from historical to literary style in order to highlight the different status of the Kahena in many novelistic texts. The image of the queen was alternately in accordance with tradition and at odds with it. Each author adapts his writing to his characters as well as to his readers. As far as the third part is concerned, it is dedicated to a comparative study with two other mythical and historical figures, Joan of Arc and Cleopatra as well as the evolution of their myth in literature. This study enables us to refer to the various pictures of the Kahena. In spite of cultural difference, the character keeps his heroic, imposing and symbolic status, modelled or embellished according to novelistic imaginary or the requirement of the age. He becomes a myth, remains alive and acquires literary treasures thanks to his updating, which meets many contemporary needs

Les études relatives à l'histoire de la première moitié du VIIe siècle av. J.-C. en Égypte sont encore relativement peu nombreuses. De ce fait, si les grandes lignes historiques sont chronologiquement assez bien établies, les étapes et les différents enjeux le sont quant à eux beaucoup moins.Cette période est marquée en Égypte par un important changement : les pharaons kouchites (de la XXVe dynastie, appelés aussi 'pharaons noirs' ou 'éthiopiens'), qui dominaient alors le pays depuis la fin du VIIIe siècle av. J-C., sont évincés par une nouvelle lignée de souverains d'origine libyenne (la XXVIe dynastie dite saïte), aidée par les invasions répétées de l'Égypte par l'Assyrie. Cette période de transition, d'environ une vingtaine d'années (entre les règnes de Taharqa, 690-664 av. J.-C., et de Psammétique Ier, 664-610 av. J.-C.), constitue ce sujet de recherche doctorale. L'objectif principal est donc d'éclairer de façon plus précise cette époque de transition en identifiant les acteurs principaux (souverains, clergé et dignitaires locaux) mais également les changements politiques, sociaux et culturels qui ont eu lieu. Une nouvelle étude qui prenne en compte les identités de chacun des protagonistes et leurs rapports avec le pouvoir est nécessaire. Il conviendra donc de définir le pouvoir pharaonique (sa nature et son expression notamment), les continuités et les modifications qui se sont opérées avec ce changement dynastique.Pour que cette étude puisse être la plus complète possible, ce sujet nécessite donc un réexamen de la documentation déjà connue par des recherches antérieures mais également la mise en lumière de documents mal connus ou encore ignorés
The first half of the VIIth century BC have been marked in Egypt by an important transition. The Kushite pharaohs (the Nubian 25th dynasty, also named “black Pharaohs”) who dominated the country since the end of the eighth century, were ousted by a northern dynasty of Libyan origin (the 26th or Saite dynasty), in the context of the Assyrian invasions. This period of transition, between the reigns of the Kushite Taharqa (690-664) and the Saite Psamtik I (664-610) is the subject of this doctoral research.During the last few decades, the historical studies about the 25th and 26th dynasties have clarified the main events that marked Egypt and Nubia during this transitional period. If the more important historical events are relatively well known, the stages of the historical changes and the evolution of the pharaonic expression have been less studied.The main objective of this work is to clarify them by identifying the main protagonists (kings, clergy and local dignitaries) but also the political, social and cultural changes. The reign of the king Taharqa, thanks to the important and numerous documents (historical records and monuments) from Egypt and Nubia, constitute an important part of this research. The study of the textual and monumental expressions of Taharqa’s power (especially in Thebes in Egypt, or Kawa and Gebel Barkal in Nubia) and its evolutions in the context of the Assyrian wars, highlight the issues of this historical period. These informations can be completed by the documentation of the Kushite king Tanutamun and the saite Psamtik I

This research reconstructs the value of the concept of securitas in Seneca's thought with the aim to show its centrality and the organic nature of its development both from a conceptual point of view and from the point of view of the history of ideas. Therefore the interior and the exterior dimensions of the notion and their mutual implications are analyzed: securitas is examined in its interior psychological dimension in the context of moral progress, subsequently the importance of the concept is taken into account in connection with social relations in the imperial context. The epistemological questions of the notion in Naturales Quaestiones are also studied in order to investigate the relationship that man entertains with the world of natural phenomena through science. Furthermore securitas was examined within the relationship between philosophical and dramatic works (especially Oedipus), suggesting the presence of ethical assumptions of securitas in their inverted sense on a poetic level and allowing us to describe Seneca's poetic as a poetic of uncertainty. Contrary to the most common interpretation of senecan ethics as focused on the withdraw into one's self, the research shows that the ethical aspects which focus on the interior dimension become part of relating to the outside world as well. The tense relationship with the world, which emerges from the study of the concept of securitas, can also be linked to the way Seneca deals with previous philosophical tradition and have contributed to clarify his position with respect to the Stoic tradition to which he belongs, as well as with respect to other philosophical (Lucretius, Cicero, Celsus) and ideological (Velleius Paterculus) influences which are present in his works.
La presente ricerca ricostruisce dal punto di vista storico-filosofico e concettuale il valore della nozione di securitas in Seneca con l'obiettivo di mostrare la centralità del concetto e l'organicità del suo svolgimento nell'ambito della riflessione filosofica del pensatore Romano. Vengono pertanto esaminate le dimensioni interiore ed esteriore della nozione nella loro relazione di reciproca implicazione: da un lato la securitas viene studiata con riferimento alla dimensione psicologica interiore del soggetto nel contesto del progresso morale, dall'altro, se ne prendono in considerazione gli effetti quanto alla dimensione dei rapporti sociali nel contesto imperiale. La nozione di securitas è analizzata anche con riferimento allo statuto epistemologico delle Naturales Quaestiones per indagare il rapporto che l'uomo intrattiene col mondo dei fenomeni naturali attraverso la scienza. Si è inoltre esaminato il concetto all'interno della relazione tra opera filosofica e opera tragica (in particolare l'Oedipus), suggerendo la presenza degli assunti etici della securitas a livello poetico nel loro senso rovesciato e determinanti perciò una poetica dell'incertezza. Contrariamente all'interpretazione più ricorrente secondo cui la riflessione etica senecana sarebbe focalizzata sul ripiego su se stessi, la ricerca mostra come gli aspetti etici che si concentrano sulla dimensione interiore, siano in realtà finalizzati alla sfera esteriore. La relazione tensiva col mondo, che emerge dallo studio della nozione di securitas, risente anche del rapporto di Seneca alla tradizione filosofica precedente e ha permesso di chiarire la sua posizione rispetto alla tradizione stoica cui appartiene, nonché rispetto alle influenze filosofiche (Lucrezio, Cicerone, Celso) e ideologiche (Velleio Patercolo) cui è permeabile.

Abstract The Heun class of linear second-order ODEs is generated by the Heun equation –the Fuchsian equation with four singularities. The Heun equation was first studied by K. Heun [51]. A hundred years later, a centennial workshop on the Heun equation was organized by A. Ronveaux, A. Seeger, and W. Lay, where achievements in the theory were discussed [113). Attention was mainly devoted to the confluent Heun equations first presented in details in articles [33, 34]. A result of the conference was the appearence of the first book on Heun equations in 1995 [ J 07].

In structural columns, honeycombs are very common in small and big works. This problem is caused by poor consolidation of the concrete that increases the probability of honeycombs (voids left in concrete). These imply costs incurred and affect the work schedule. An exhaustive search is carried out regarding methods in the scientific literature and materials with respect to their availability in the market related to the problem. In this way, it was found that the design of a self-compacting concrete using the ACI 237R-07 with the use of a supplementary cementitious material aims to be a solution to this problem. Rice husk ashes contain silicon oxide and aluminates. These elements improve or increase the strength of the concrete, offer workability and fluidity properties. It was found that with a 5% replacement, 735 mm and 730 mm of slump flow and J-ring were obtained, respectively. Additionally, the V-funnel time was 9.58 seconds. The use of RHA positively increased the values of the measured tests with respect to the standard, thereby improving the workability and stability properties.

Bolted joints are a major part of wind energy plants. Due to climatic conditions, they are often exposed to temperatures far below the freezing point. Together with the multiaxial state of stress, which results from the notch effect of the thread, and possible dynamic overloads during operation, sufficient ductility of the material is needed. The state of the art method to investigate the ductile behavior of fasteners is the Charpy pendulum impact test with a V-notched specimen. According to international standard DIN EN ISO 898-1 [1] respectively ASTM F568M-07 [2], fasteners made of carbon steel and alloy steel with a body centered cubic lattice structure can be used for temperatures down to 223 K (−50°C, −58°F) as long as a minimum impact energy of 27 J at 253 K (−20°C, −4°F) is met. As there are several disadvantages in using this test method for fasteners, a detailed examination of existing test methods and design concepts is necessary to find alternatives to the Charpy pendulum impact test. Extensive quasi-static and dynamic material tests were conducted on fasteners with property classes 5.6, 10.9 and 12.9 in a temperature range between 203 K (−70°C, −94°F) and room temperature 293 K (20°C, 68°F). Both mechanical properties and the influence of different specimen geometries were evaluated. Analytical concepts for the description of the low temperature applicability of different steels were analyzed.

Organizational cultures that emphasize fairness, connection and human-centeredness inspire more effective collaboration, are more economically efficient, and can manage conflict and crisis effectively.[i] Such cultures are also marked by less burnout and more engagement, retention, and satisfaction.[ii] These cultural values directly relate to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in the workplace. Despite these well-known values, leaders do not always know how to talk about them or make them tangible and practical. REAL is a research informed framework crafted carefully to do exactly that: help leaders make culture change real to the people on their teams. REAL is a research informed framework crafted carefully to do exactly that: help leaders make culture change real to the people on their teams. REAL provides the necessary foundation to generate effective EDI solutions that capture real effects and challenges people face. The current paper describes the REAL framework, the research underpinning its core tenets, and insights for leaders committed to building more equitable, diverse, and inclusive organizational cultures. The elements of the framework are: Reveal relevant opportunities by exploring your organization as a complex system, identifying strategic actions for change, and being clear that goals may be hard to achieve. Elevate equity as foundational to diversity and inclusion efforts because it provides fair opportunities for all to reach full potential. Activate diversity strategically by embracing stakeholders’ vast reservoir of perspectives and experiences, ultimately enhancing innovation and decision-making.
