This paper aims to examine and compare the translation strategies employed in the translation of originally written in English hymns into Indonesian and Toba Batak languages, and to identify commonalities and disparities in translation approaches, by using Peter Low’s (2005; 2013; 2017) strategy of song translation, i.e the translation, adaptation, and replacement. The data consists of a collection of hymns in English and their respective translations in Indonesian and Toba Bataknese. The results of data analyis discovered that adaptation was the most frequently used strategy in both Indonesian and Toba Batak translations. In addition, replacement strategy applied in the two target languages was also notable. The findings further indicate a consistent translation choice of the term "Saviour" as "Jesus" in both Indonesian and Toba Batak translations, suggesting that the cultural context of the target language influences the strategy chosen by translators.

This study aimed to find out what, how, and why the translation methods became the most dominant in translating English Hymn song in kidung jemaat. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. The data of this study were 22 songs lyrics by E.L.Pohan. The source of the data was taken from kidung jemaat Hymn song book. The result of this study showed that there are three types of methods used in translating English Hymn song lyrics in to Indonesian language. The most dominant used by the translator is the Adaptation method (68,18%). The adaptation method is the most dominantly used by the translator because it retains the meaning contained in the SL, even though the words are substituted to fit the culture and rythmic calculation of each lyrics word, without altering the original meaning.

This article presents the results of an ethnographic research on communication about the Indonesian Polyglot community, with a focus on the Semarang Chapter of the Indonesian Polyglot. Communication ethnography is used as an approach to understand the communication practices that occur in this community. This study involved an interview method with members of the Semarang Chapter of the Indonesian Polyglot as the main informant. The data collected was then analyzed using the Ethnographic Communication theory framework developed by Dell Hymes. This data analysis includes the communication practices, norms, and values found within this polyglot community. The results of the study show that communication within the Polyglot Indonesia Chapter Semarang community is very dynamic and is influenced by the diversity of languages owned by the members. Community members use various languages in their interactions, such as Indonesian, foreign languages, and regional languages. They also use effective communication strategies, such as code-switching, code-mixing, and body language, to facilitate understanding and successful communication. This study has important significance in the context of the study of cross-cultural and multilingual communication. In this era of globalization, cross-cultural communication is becoming increasingly relevant, and the study of polyglot communities can provide valuable insights into understanding how people communicate in multilingual and multicultural situations. The results of this research can also provide valuable input for the development of the Indonesian Polyglot community and similar communities in Indonesia.

In today's Indonesian churches there are two types of music in worship, namely: hymnal songs or hymn (which are still used in mainstream Protestant churches) and contemporary Christian songs (used in Pentecostal and Charismatic churches). Nevertheless, contemporary Christian singing began to be accepted by some Protestant Christians and its existence increasingly dominated and urged the hymn. In order for the hymn to not be easily abandoned and felt contemporary, the author offers a new alternative to the creation of the hymn that has based itself on the major-minor mode for centuries. The alternative is the use of church mode, namely the Dorian mode as the basis for the creation or arrangement of a hymn. For this reason, the author tries to present a hymn arrangement for the song "Holy, Holy, Holy" by Reginald Heber in the SATB format in Dorian mode.

The era of modernization of social media has always been associated with teenagers, especially those on Facebook. This social media can be used as a medium to show their existence. The language used for communication interactions varies. The purpose of this study is to identify the choice of language codes used by students in the Islamic Modern Assalaam Islamic Boarding School in Indonesia in their communication interactions. This research is a qualitative in nature. The data under investigation are students’ conversations on Facebook, which are particularly related to the choice of codes. Data collection includes observation, field notes, and interviews. This research analysis employs the components of the Hymes (SPEAKING) speech. The research results demonstrate that the choice of language codes used by students to communicate in social media involves Indonesian, Arabic, English, and Javanese. The development of technology can make communication effective for students. Besides, that can drive the changes in behavior and language they use. The significance of this research is that there are bilingualism/multilingualism phenomena through the use of Indonesian, Arabic, and English, which is proven not to shift the local language (Javanese), let alone destroying local language as a mother tongue.

Singing is a tool used by Christians to worship. The song forms the attitude of its adherents by following the verses contained in the song. This paper aims to analyse the Kidung Jemaat song used by Christians in Indonesia using the lens of feminist theology. The dominance of the patriarchal concept causes an imbalance in relations between society and the church. The research was carried out by qualitative research, observing and carefully reading the poems used by the church in general, especially Kidung Jemaat. The study found that church hymns mention very little about women's stories, whereas the Bible talks about women's ministry in the community. The people's attitude was formed over the years, causing women to be marginalised in Christian singing. As a result, women are also marginalised in worship in the church and community. The church needs to encourage church musicians to create women's songs in the church.
