Depuis une décennie, l'exposé improvisé in vivo est utilisé couramment par les chercheurs du domaine de l’anxiété sociale. Toutefois peu d’auteurs se sont penchés sur ses qualités psychométriques. Un premier article évalue donc celles-ci à partir d’un relevé des recherches qui ont employé l’exposé improvisé in vivo. De plus, ce dernier est peu économique pour les cliniciens. Bien que l'imagerie mentale soit une alternative économique aux stimuli in vivo, la littérature ne renferme pas d’exemple de son application aux tests d’approche comportementaux. Conséquemment, une seconde étude compare le niveau moyen de variables reliées à l’anxiété sociale, induites par la présentation d’un exposé improvisé in vivo et d’un exposé en imagination auprès de phobiques sociaux. D’après les recherches recensées, l’exposé improvisé in vivo présente des qualités psychométriques acceptables dans l’ensemble. Les résultats de la seconde étude montrent que bien que la valeur des variables soit moins élevée durant l’exposé en imagination, ce dernier provoque des réactions cliniquement significatives et semble particulièrement puissant pour mettre en évidence les variables cognitives. Des résultats préliminaires sont présentées à propos des relations entre les variables mesurées in vivo et en imagination
During the last decade, the in vivo impromptu speech task has gained widespread use in social anxiety research. However, few authors have examined its psychometric properties. Consequently, studies comprising the in vivo impromptu speech task are reviewed in order to documents those properties. Secondly,, the in vivo impromptu speech task appears less economic for clinicians. While imagery is an economic alternative to in vivo stimuli in other areas, literature contains no account of this type of procedure in a standardized behavioral approach test. Consequently, the present study aims at comparing the mean levels of variables related to anxiety elicited by in vivo and imaginal presentations of the impromptu speech task with social phobies. According to the studies reviewed, the in vivo impromptu speech task has globally adequate psychometric properties. Results of the second study show that while most variables reach a significantly smaller magnitude during the imaginal than the in vivo task, the former still prompts clinically meaningful levels for these variables and seems especially potent.

Le role de l'imaginaire ne semble pas - a priori - fondamental pour la dynamique de la motivation dans le contexte scolaire, c'est a dire dans un cadre envisage en vue d'apprentissages par l'eleve, de connaissances conformes a des programmes bien definis. Cependant on peut inverser cette perspective en concevant la motivation dans le cadre d'une realisation de soi - dans le groupe et en fonction d'apprentissages repondant a des besoins creatifs spontanes. Les travaux effectues par gilbert durand sur l'imaginaire - et en particulier sa conception des "structures anthropologiques de l'imaginaire" - nous ont servi de fil conducteur theorique a partir duquel nous avons elabore une methodologie et realise une experimentation dans differentes classes. Nous avons recueilli des donnees et analyse l'evolution de certaines situations scolaires individuelles ou collectives. Au terme de cette recherche, nous constatons que si les contenus lies a une pedagogie de l'imaginaire restent importants, il apparait surtout que c'est dans la regulation de l'espace- temps educatif que se construit ou non la raison simultanee d'apprendre et de vivre ensemble. Pour qu'une activite prenne du sens il faut en effet que soit combinees harmonieusement trois directions pedagogiques : la mise a l'epreuve individuelle, la participation au sein d'un groupe et la circulation de toute information dans le systeme-apprenant qu'est la classe. Or, cela correspond justement aux trois modes "durandiens" des structures de l'imaginaire : mode "heroique", mode "mystique" et mode "synthetique" ou "cyclique", trilogie constitutive des bases anthropologiques de la psyche, prefigurant dans son equilibre une education a visees socialisantes et democratiques. L'hegemonie d'un modele pedagogique - trop "heroique", par exemple - pourrait alors etre envisage comme facteur de separation, d'echec scolaire, de fracture sociale. .
The part played by the imaginary does not seem -- a priori -- to be fundamental in the dynamics of motivation at school, i. E. In an environment in which a pupil is to acquire knowledge in conformity with well defined programs. Yet this perspective can be inverted if we consider motivation in the perspective of self-realisation -- in a group and in connection with the acquisition of knowledge for spontaneous creative needs. I have used gilbert durand's works about the imaginary -- and in particular his conception of "the anthropological structures of the imaginary" - as a theoretical basis to develop a methodology and made experiments in various school-classes. I have gathered data and analysed the evolution of some pupils or groups of pupils. As the outcome of this research it appears that though a pedagogy based on the imaginery has important effects, it is especially the regulation of space and time at school that motivates people to learn and live together. For an activity to make sense, three pedagogical elements must be harmoniously combined : individual testing, participation in group activities and the circulation of information in the class -- a learning system. Now this corresponds to the three categories ("regimes) in gilbert durand's structures of the imaginary: heroic, mystical and synthetic or cyclic, a trilogy which constitutes the anthropological basis of the psyche, prefigurating an education with a socializing and democratic aim. The domination of a pedagogical model --'heroic' for instance --could then be considered to be a factor of separation, academic failure, social fragmentation

Le rôle philosophique du théâtre : éprouver et penser vise à montrer comment philosophie et théâtre se retrouvent dans une quête commune de vérité. En nous basant sur une démarche empiriste, nous voyons comment au théâtre comme en philosophie, il s'agit avant tout d'interroger la réalité perçue et de proposer différentes orientations, en sachant que le théâtre suscite d'abord une expérience vivante et sensible bien qu'imaginaire. La problématique est: en quoi l'imaginaire théâtral et le travail corporel qu'il implique constituent-ils des éléments essentiels de la (ou d'une) recherche rationnelle de vérité ? Quelle est l’utilité du philosophe en politique ? L’objet du présent travail est d’interroger la manière dont cette question a pu être posée et la façon dont on a pu y répondre, en France, dans les années qui vont du milieu du XVIIIe siècle jusqu’à 1780 environ. Dans un contexte qui se caractérise à la fois par l’omniprésence du discours philosophique et par son absence d’autonomie, on se propose de cerner la façon dont sont identifiés les effets possibles des écrits politiques des philosophes. Deux problèmes se posent alors. D’une part, il s’agit de déterminer à quelles conditions le discours philosophique sur la politique est jugé utile, et quel type de prise il doit assurer sur son objet pour être évalué comme tel. D’autre part, la question des effets produits par le texte doit nous inviter à considérer la manière dont le rapport entre le philosophe et ses lecteurs s’établit à travers le texte : comment se fait la communication des idées, et quelles sont ses conséquences pratiques ? Quels liens faut-il établir entre connaissance et action ?Notre enquête a procédé en deux approches successives. Dans un premier temps, nous avons cherché à repérer les termes dans lesquels dont on pose, dans cette seconde moitié du XVIIIe siècle, la question des effets des ouvrages politiques écrits par des philosophes. Ce travail nous a permis notamment de mettre en évidence le fait que l’utilité d’un écrit est envisagé dans une double dimension : dans la mesure où il est susceptible d’affecter le monde mais aussi dans la mesure où il est susceptible de contribuer au progrès de la connaissance et d’alimenter un débat intellectuel. Dans un cas comme dans l’autre, la forme et le style de l’ouvrage sont considérés comme centraux pour assurer son effet auprès du lecteur et le faire, à son tour, penser. Dans un second temps, nous nous sommes intéressé à quelques exemples d’un genre particulier : les textes de conseil de Rousseau et de Diderot à propos de la Corse, de la Pologne et de la Russie nous ont permis d’analyser la manière dont le philosophe définit son rôle par rapport au législateur, mais aussi dont il s’essaie à élaborer un langage qui tout à la fois lui permette de saisir son objet dans sa singularité et de se faire entendre auprès de son lecteur. Nous avons vu à travers ces deux approches se dessiner une sphère propre de la parole du philosophe en politique. À distance de l’action, le philosophe est l’homme de la vérité ; la contestation progressive de la référence au philosophe-législateur laisse la place à un usage critique de la connaissance. La fécondité politique de la parole philosophique apparaît alors non dans sa capacité à instituer mais à faire imaginer d’autres institutions possibles
What is the purpose of the philosopher in politics? We examine the way in which this question has been posed and the way in which it was answered in France in the years from the mid-18th century to about 1780. For a context characterized both by the omnipresence of philosophical discourse and its lack of autonomy, we put forward our understanding of the way the possible effects of the political writings of philosophers are identified. Two problems then arise. On the one hand, there is the question of determining under what condition philosophical discourse on politics is deemed useful, and what type of hold it must have on its object to be evaluated as such. On the other hand, the question of the effects produced by the text should invite us to consider how the relationship between the philosopher and his readers is established through the text: how are the ideas communicated, and what are the direct consequences? What is the relationship between knowledge and action?Our investigation has taken two subsequent approaches. First, we sought to identify the terms in which the question of the effects of political works written by philosophers was raised in the second half of the eighteenth century. This has enabled us to highlight the fact that the usefulness of writing is envisaged in two dimensions: insofar as it is likely to affect the world but also insofar as it is likely to contribute to the progress of knowledge and to fuel an intellectual debate. In either case, the form and style of the work are considered central to ensure its effect on the reader and encourage him to think. In a second phase, we sought out examples of a particular genre: Rousseau and Diderot's writing on Corsica, Poland and Russia allowed us to analyze how the counseling philosopher defines his role in relation to the legislator but also attempts to elaborate a language which at the same time allows him to grasp his object in its singularity and to make himself heard by his reader. These two approaches have shown us a distinct sphere of the philosopher's word in politics. While keeping his distance from action, the philosopher is the man of truth; the gradual contestation of the reference to the philosopher as legislator leaves room for a critical use of knowledge. The political fecundity of the philosophical word then appears not in its capacity to institute but rather to facilitate imagining other possible institutions

Qu’implique concrètement le fait de s’engager dans une fiction ?La question que pose cette thèse

est celle des efforts, des activités ou des « travaux » que doit effectuer le joueur de jeux de rôles

grandeur nature quand il veut s’immerger dans un univers fictionnel. Cette activité ludique demande

l’adoption d’une posture d’engagement dont le trait principal est qu’elle fonctionne sur un mode

collaboratif. Sollicitant les cadres théoriques d’Howard Becker (approche par mondes et division du

travail créatif), de Jean-Marie Schaeffer (dispositifs d’immersion fictionnelle), de Laurent Thévenot et

de Nicolas Auray (régimes d’engagement), j’examine trois de ces efforts, essentiellement grâce à une

ethnographie poussée. Le premier effort consiste à accéder à l’univers en créant un personnage actif

et autonome ;le second revient à interagir au sein du monde fictionnel dans un double mouvement

qui consiste à repousser ses cadres tout en les renforçant ;le troisième implique d’imaginer des

modes d’organisation pour donner un cadre à l’action.

L'objectif de cette thèse était de comprendre le déploiement et le développement de maisons d'éditions en province et plus particulièrement en Alsace et en Bretagne à partir de 1980. L'hypothèse principale était que ces activités avait un rapport avec la revendication de la différence culturelle. L'enquête menée en Alsace et en Bretagne démontre que l'action des éditeurs et les livres publiés révèlent des dynamiques différentes. En Bretagne, les éditeurs agissent selon une logique de production. En Alsace, le renouveau de l'édition du début des années 1980 est engagé à partir d'une logique de reproduction. Ces éditeurs s'inscrivent dans la continuité de l'édition alsacienne, héritage du XIXe siècle et revendique la tradition de l'imprimerie présente dans la région depuis 1450. L'étude souligne les transformations auxquelles doivent faire face non seulement le secteur de l'édition, mais aussi les sociétés régionales en question. Plus généralement, elle démontre que le retour au passé et aux racines permet d'engager des changements au niveau de l'imaginaire social et régional nécessaires pour préparer les esprits aux conditions de la société transnationale en devenir
The objective of this PhD project was to understand the deployment and development of publishing houses since 1980 in the French regions and in Brittany and Alsace in particular. One of the principal hypotheses was that this was linked to the quest for recognition of cultural difference. The research results show that the action of publishers and the books in Alsace and in Brittany are linked to different social dynamics. In Brittany, publishers act following a logic of production, whereas in the Alsace, the renaissance of publishing in the 1980ies is based on a logic of reproduction. These publishers draw upon the continuity and heritage of XlXth century Alsatian publishing and refer also to the rich regional printing tradition since 1450. The study not only underlines transformations that occur in the publishing sector, but gives also deeper insides in the social changes on the local level. More generally, these two cases show that the return to the past and to the roots seems to prepare local and social imaginaries for the emergent transnational condition of society

S'entendre annoncer, lors d'une consultation médicale, que la mort est proche, n'est pas sans effet subjectif. Effroi et traumatisme : violence faite à cette illusion d'immortalité protectrice qui soutient le sujet dans sa quotidienneté, ouverture faite sur le gouffre de la déréliction. La clinique que l'on rencontre dans une unité de soins palliatifs met en évidence les effets subjectifs, trop souvent délétères, d'une telle annonce. C'est à partir de celle-ci que se déploie cette interrogation concernant le sujet et ce qu'il parvient à faire -ou non- de cette annonce. Nous serons alors amenés à rendre compte de ce que la mort réelle, annoncée du lieu de l'Autre, a cet effet de produire une néantisation de la fonction symbolique qu'il supporte, en ce que son manque vient subitement à manquer. La clinique propre aux soins palliatifs montre alors les incidences subjectives d'une telle vacillation et les possibles recours du sujet dans ses tentatives pour pallier au défaut del'Autre.

This thesis explores the issue of imaginative writing of deaf children. Thirty deaf children aged 9-11 years were recruited form Hearing Impaired Units and mainstream schools. Thirty hearing children were matched on academic performance (according to teachers) and chronological age and recruited from the same classes as the deaf children. Three sets of imaginative stories were collected from the above groups at three points during one academic year. A mixed methodology was employed in order to investigate imaginative writing of deaf children. For the evaluation of children’s stories an “Imagination Story Scale” was developed based both on the literature review and on the in-depth analyses of four children’s imaginative stories. The scale consists of four categorised divisions (story structure, story plot, linguistic imagination, originality) and one additional division (overall assessment). Assessments of both deaf and hearing children’s stories using the scale revealed little variation between deaf and hearing children’s scores in the scale, indicating that deaf children do have imagination and are able to express it in writing. However, differences were observed between the scores for the different topics (for both groups of children) suggesting that the topic of the stories influenced their scores. Imaginative writing of deaf children was not predicted by: age, gender, degree of hearing loss, type of communication used at home, or use of activities to promote children’s imagination either in the classroom or at home. Teachers’ opinions of deaf children’s imagination were explored through interviews. The Teachers of the Deaf tended to under-estimate deaf children’s ability to demonstrate imagination in their writing by comparison with the stories that the deaf children produced.

Este trabalho consiste em um registro das histórias de pescadores da comunidade de Nova Porto XV – distrito de Bataguassu, Mato Grosso do Sul – atingida pela barragem da Usina Engenheiro Sergio Motta de Porto Primavera. Propomos um mergulho no imaginário dos pescadores principalmente no que se refere à história do povoado, ao trabalho no rio, ao deslocamento obrigatório após a cheia do lago e ao processo de adaptação. Compomos, a partir da linguagem desta gente, um quadro geral capaz de expressar sua compreensão da própria história, das forças políticas que interferiram no seu destino, dos fatos que se abateram sobre ela e tantos outros imprevistos deflagrados pela mudança forçada do lugar onde viviam. As narrativas colhidas no espaço público e nas conversas informais - histórias e casos sobre o passado e o presente - compõem uma crônica do cotidiano, exaltam a materialidade da vida e da ação transformadora do pescador sobre o espaço. Ao narrar, os pescadores devaneiam, concretizam sua apreensão da realidade. Devaneios esses que não atuam como meras abstrações ou fugas do real, pelo contrário são estratégias para agir sobre o mundo, construir a vida e retomar as rédeas do próprio destino. Esta forma particular de registro da memória coletiva propicia o encontro com as formas de organização das práticas e dos costumes na vila desde seu surgimento no início do século XX, passando por todas as suas variações, até uma descrição dos modos de vida atuais. As narrativas colhidas nas conversas informais do cotidiano dos pescadores revelam uma relação complexa e ambígua com o espaço e o tempo. Por um lado, mostra uma exultação provocada pela experiência do conforto e facilidade da nova vida urbana...
This project forms a record of the fishermen tales of the community of Nova Porto XV – district village of Bataguassu, Mato Grosso do Sul – flooded because of the dam of Engenheiro Sérgio Motta Power Plant in Port Primavera. We propose a dive in the imaginary of the fishermen, especially concerning the history of the village, the labor in the river, the mandatory displacement after the flooding of the lake and the adaptation process. We compose, from the language of those people, a general picture capable of expressing the comprehension of their own history, of the polical forces that interfered in their fate, of the facts that hit them and so many other unpredicted events triggered by the forced moving from the place where they lived in. The narratives, taken in public areas and informal conversations – histories and affairs about the past and the present – compose a chronicle of the daily routine, and exalt the materiality of life and the transforming action of the fishermen over the space. Those daydreams are not more abstractions or escapes from reality, on the contrary, they are strategies to act in the world, build life and take over the reins of their own destiny. This particular form of registraction of the collective memory merely provides the encounter with the forms of organization of the practices and the customs in the village from its start in the beginning of the 20th century, going over all its variations, up to a description of the current way of life. The narratives registered in informal conversations of the daily routine of the fishermen reveal a complex and ambiguous relationship with space and time... O presente estudo tem por objetivo evidenciar questões pertinentes às identidades religiosas na contemporaneidade. Para tanto, a referência empírica retratada são as maiores denominações neopentecostais brasileiras, a saber: a Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD), a Igreja Internacional da Graça de Deus (IGD), a Igreja Apostólica Renascer em Cristo (IARC), e a Igreja Mundial do Poder de Deus (IMPD). Especificamente, pretende-se descortinar como o neopentecostalismo por meio do seu eixo doutrinário primordial - a Teologia da Prosperidade (TP) – entabula demandas, suscita possibilidades e define caminhos para indivíduos inseridos nos modos de subjetivação inerentes à economia de mercado. A ênfase deste trabalho encontra-se amparada em, pelo menos, três premissas norteadoras. A primeira é de que os seres humanos dirigem sua ação às coisas sobre as bases do significado que essas coisas têm para eles. O segundo aspecto considerado tem a ver com o fato de que o significado prestado a tais coisas surge da interação social que os indivíduos exercitam com os outros. E, finalmente, a terceira premissa está no fato de que esse significado é dirigido e modificado através de um processo interpretativo usado pelas pessoas em relação às coisas e situações que elas encontram e vivenciam. Assim, o nosso problema epistemológico reside na expressão da fé contemporânea. Nas manifestações presentes nos cultos neopentecostais. Na irrupção do sagrado sob a força dos gestos e palavras. Na espiritualidade para além do especificamente religioso. Na interação, ideação e comunicação de uma realidade que não só fornece visibilidade social, mas que acaba demandando ações, cujo objetivo é a vida destinada ao sucesso material e o reconhecimento de um determinado status quo segundo as regras do mundo e do mercado neoliberal. As questões articuladas pela religiosidade neopentecostal apresentam-se em um cenário complexo e que repercute questões semânticas, conceituais, epistemológicas, culturais, entre outras, no que tange aos mecanismos de recomposição religiosa.
The present study aims to shed light on issues related to contemporary religious identities. It examines major Brazilian neo-Pentecostal denominations, namely: Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD) (Universal Church of the Kingdom of God), Igreja Internacional da Graça de Deus (IGD) (International Church of God´s Grace), Igreja Apostólica Renascer em Cristo (IARC) (Reborn in Christ Apostolic Church), and Igreja Mundial do Poder de Deus (IMPD) (Worldwide Church of the Power of God). In particular, we intend to show how neo-Pentecostalism, through its most fundamental doctrine – Prosperity Theology (PT) – creates demands, raises possibilities and defines paths for individuals inserted in the modes of subjectification inherent to the market economy. The emphasis of this work is supported by at least three key concepts. The first is that human beings direct their actions to things based on the meaning that these things have for them. The second aspect has to do with the fact that meaning given to these things arises from social interaction that individuals engage in with other individuals. Finally, the third concept lies in the fact that meaning is directed and modified through an interpretive process, employed by people in relation to the things and situations they encounter and experience in their lives.Thus, here is where our epistemological problem lies: in the expression of contemporary faith; in the manifestations present in the neo-Pentecostal cults; in the introduction of that which is sacred by force of words and gestures; in the interaction, ideation and communication with a reality that not only provides social visibility, but also ends up demanding action, whose goal is to create a life destined for material success and recognition of a certain status quo according to the rules of the world and the Neoliberal market. The issues articulated by Neo-Pentecostal religiosity are presented within a complex environment in which semantic, conceptual, epistemological and cultural issues regarding mechanisms of religious recomposition are expressed.

Resumo: Este trabalho consiste em um registro das histórias de pescadores da comunidade de Nova Porto XV - distrito de Bataguassu, Mato Grosso do Sul - atingida pela barragem da Usina Engenheiro Sergio Motta de Porto Primavera. Propomos um mergulho no imaginário dos pescadores principalmente no que se refere à história do povoado, ao trabalho no rio, ao deslocamento obrigatório após a cheia do lago e ao processo de adaptação. Compomos, a partir da linguagem desta gente, um quadro geral capaz de expressar sua compreensão da própria história, das forças políticas que interferiram no seu destino, dos fatos que se abateram sobre ela e tantos outros imprevistos deflagrados pela mudança forçada do lugar onde viviam. As narrativas colhidas no espaço público e nas conversas informais - histórias e casos sobre o passado e o presente - compõem uma crônica do cotidiano, exaltam a materialidade da vida e da ação transformadora do pescador sobre o espaço. Ao narrar, os pescadores devaneiam, concretizam sua apreensão da realidade. Devaneios esses que não atuam como meras abstrações ou fugas do real, pelo contrário são estratégias para agir sobre o mundo, construir a vida e retomar as rédeas do próprio destino. Esta forma particular de registro da memória coletiva propicia o encontro com as formas de organização das práticas e dos costumes na vila desde seu surgimento no início do século XX, passando por todas as suas variações, até uma descrição dos modos de vida atuais. As narrativas colhidas nas conversas informais do cotidiano dos pescadores revelam uma relação complexa e ambígua com o espaço e o tempo. Abstract: This project forms a record of the fishermen tales of the community of Nova Porto XV - district village of Bataguassu, Mato Grosso do Sul - flooded because of the dam of Engenheiro Sérgio Motta Power Plant in Port Primavera. We propose a dive in the imaginary of the fishermen, especially concerning the history of the village, the labor in the river, the mandatory displacement after the flooding of the lake and the adaptation process. We compose, from the language of those people, a general picture capable of expressing the comprehension of their own history, of the polical forces that interfered in their fate, of the facts that hit them and so many other unpredicted events triggered by the forced moving from the place where they lived in. The narratives, taken in public areas and informal conversations - histories and affairs about the past and the present - compose a chronicle of the daily routine, and exalt the materiality of life and the transforming action of the fishermen over the space. Those daydreams are not more abstractions or escapes from reality, on the contrary, they are strategies to act in the world, build life and take over the reins of their own destiny. This particular form of registraction of the collective memory merely provides the encounter with the forms of organization of the practices and the customs in the village from its start in the beginning of the 20th century, going over all its variations, up to a description of the current way of life. The narratives registered in informal conversations of the daily routine of the fishermen reveal a complex and ambiguous relationship with space and time... The objective of this study is to the verify the following hypoteses: a) creative imagination stimulation reduces the memory déficits in persons who have suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), b) the stimulation creative imagination and the memory déficits reduction are associated with the conscience level increase these persons. Many persons with TBI, mainly young people, have neuropsychological outcomes like by the memory and conscience. This ressearch is subsidized by basic concepts of social psychology presented in the work of Lev Semenovich Vygotsky, Alexander Romanovich Luria, Alexei Leontiev and from the reflections of George Mead, since these authors have analyzed the development of human psychological function though the perspective of society and culture. From this theoretical referential, the following aspects and analytical categories are detached, in agreement with the objectives of this study; the individual social genesis, human communication, creative imagination, memory, conscience, concepts formation and proximal development zone. It follows the nearly experimental orientation characterized by the case study, two young people attended in rehabilitation process, including a psychological treatment at the Department of Psychology, Division of Rehabilitation Medicine, Hospital das Clínicas, School of Medicine, University of São Paulo. The research consists in a psychological evaluation, in continuation the attendance whose objective is to stimulate the creative imagination of the person, with single activities and two persons participation, reinforcing the advantage of the work with Vygotsky s concept of proximal development zone, ending with the post-treatment psychological evaluation. The results suggest that the treatment for stimulation the imagination between the variables is inverse the increase in one of them reduces the other one, and the conscience has a synthesizings function for all the others, will be increased in this association. The research strengthens also the theoretical concepts of the mentioned authors above that mental functions act in interrelation and not isolately. The present study can collaborate with the psychological therapeutics which includes the neuropsychological rehabilitation
Esta pesquisa tem o objetivo de verificar as seguintes hipóteses: a) a estimulação da imaginação criativa diminui os déficits de memória em pessoas que sofreram Traumatismo Crânio Encefálico (TCE), b) a estimulação da imaginação criativa e a diminuição dos déficits de memória estão associadas à elevação do nível de consciência dos sujeitos vítimas de TCE. Um elevado número de pessoas, principalmente jovens, acometidas por esse traumatismo sofre de alterações neuropsicológicas, aquelas que afetam a memória e a consciência entre outras. Subsidiam esta investigação conceitos básicos da psicologia social extraídos da obra de Lev Semenovich Vygotsky, Alexander Romanovich Luria, Alexei Leontiev e das reflexões de George Mead, visto que esses autores analisaram o desenvolvimento das funções psicológicas humanas da perspectiva da sociedade e da cultura. Desse referencial teórico são destacados os seguintes aspectos e categorias analíticas, em consonância com os objetivos da pesquisa: gênese social do indivíduo, comunicação humana, imaginação criativa, memória, consciência, formação de conceitos e zona de desenvolvimento proximal. Esta pesquisa segue o delineamento quase-experimental caracterizado pelo estudo de caso, tendo dois jovens como sujeitos que realizaram processo de reabilitação incluindo o tratamento psicológico na Divisão de Medicina de Reabilitação do Hospital das Clínicas da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo. A pesquisa consiste em avaliação psicológica, seguindo-se, então, o tratamento propriamente dito com objetivo de estimular a imaginação criativa dos sujeitos, incluindo atividades individuais e em dupla, reforçando a vantagem de se trabalhar com o conceito de zona de desenvolvimento proximal de Vygotsky, finalizando-se com a avaliação psicológica pós-tratamento. Os resultados sugerem que o tratamento de estimular a imaginação criativa trouxe benefícios aos sujeitos da pesquisa, confirmando as hipóteses de que a estimulação da imaginação está associada à redução dos déficits de memória, ou seja, a associação entre as variáveis é inversa, o aumento de uma diminui a outra, e que a consciência como função sintetizadora de todas as outras será aumentada nessa associação. O trabalho fortalece ainda os pressupostos dos autores citados de que as funções mentais atuam interrelacionadas, antes do que isoladamente. Pretende-se que a pesquisa presente possa colaborar com a terapêutica psicológica que engloba a reabilitação neuropsicológica

Happiness, ritual, and sovereignty are artists’ persistent aspirations in the African- and Afro-Asian diasporas. “The Cinema of Social Dreamers” explores why the dreamscape is increasingly becoming the creative form for the expression of these social ambitions. This dissertation particularly spotlights the award-winning films and new media projects that exploit the dreamscape aesthetic in contemporary Caribbean and diasporic art. My analysis focuses on this tropical region, as well as its transnational impact in Canada, Mexico, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Central to this manuscript are the artists Mariette Monpierre, Michelle Mohabeer, and Minia Biabiany. I specifically engage their questions of happiness, spirituality, sexuality, and sovereignty in the wake of colonialism. The range of the narrative media these artists employ—from installation art and new media to sensational melodramas—also evidences the richness of the contemporary moment. While their award-winning works have flourished in niche film festivals and at fine art institutions, “The Cinema of Social Dreamers” is the first to present them as the subject of deep comparative analysis. By placing the Caribbean archipelago at the center of my work, I also highlight that the economy of art-making (and art history) remains a complex interdisciplinary, multilingual, and transnational project.

This study examines the effects of climate change on the early-nineteenth century socio-political transformation of the Ottoman Empire by analyzing the institutionalization of an imperial political-ecology, and the transformation of socio-ecologies of the imperial subjects as a reaction to both the climate change and the development of the imperial political ecology. It is argued that the first official weather forecasts, the first Ottoman natural history museum (1836-1848) and model farms of the 1840s were institutional outputs of a significant change in the perception of nature of Ottoman administrators. On the other hand, that perception, which tended to understand nature more and more as a commodity and a scientific object was reacted and challenged by Ottoman subjects in a variety of ways ranging from resistance, to adaptation, and invention of new tactics to cope with its effects. Abstaining from felling trees for the Tersane-i Amire, incendiarism, altering established labor-relations and migration against the will of the state were among the most common practices. It is argued that the resulting dialectic between an ideology based on expert knowledge and identity, and one based on local knowledge became a decisive factor in the empire-building practices and the direction of reforms during the second half of the century. The same dialectic made visible the reasons of the 'failure' of Ottoman state in natural disaster relief after the 1830s, especially during the famine of 1845-50. Dependence of Ottoman administration on centrally appointed expert-bureaucrats and their ideology in comparison to pre-1840 famines, limited the ability of the state to take immediate action and its capacity to negotiate with local elites, merchants, producers and consumers. Famine-time charity and philanthropy have become practices through which a new imperial identity was negotiated between the central authorities, local elites and common subjects of the empire.

The purpose of this thesis is to report on the identification of selected forces, connections and imagination influencing Chinese students to study in Australia. Previous research has investigated the ranges of drives generating the burgeoning number of students from the People’s Republic of China seeking to complete their tertiary education overseas. However, little research addresses the role of parents in decision making when they study the question of “Why choose Australia?” This research is based on a study using a focus group in Sydney in 2014 (n = 21), Internet questionnaires in Beijing and Lianyungang (n = 635) and follow-up telephone email interviews in Beijing, Shanghai, Lianyungang and Sydney (n = 12). The participants in this study were all students from the People’s Republic of China, mainly the children from High Net Wealth Income families. The analyses of the evidence from the focus group interviews produced five themes, namely; quality of education, cost, lifestyle, environment and labour migration opportunities. These themes were further investigated by the Internet questionnaire and refined in follow-up interviews with parents and students after the data had been analysed. In addition, evidence regarding these themes was collected through media and government reports regarding corruption in China and Australia. The findings from this research revealed four insights unrecognised by previous research into the main research question: 1. It is the parents who in many cases decide the host country destination and choice of university. 2. Interviewing students may not uncover the motives that influenced the parents’ decisions. 3. Overseas education per se is a prime driver of choice, rather than quality of education. 4. Corruption, especially money laundering, and transcultural immigration are the main motives driving many families’ choices of university in Australia. This thesis has changed directions many times throughout the investigation. It brings a fresh perspective on the forces, connections and imaginations influencing students to study in Australia, but at the same time it has raised questions that it was not able to completely answer.

This dissertation seeks to formulate guidelines for the construction of a Let's Pretend game in order for a group to create a collaborative narrative through pretend play. A Let's Pretend game would provide a system for a performance event in which players are able to enter an imaginary world, take on roles in such a world and take actions in these roles. For this a Let's Pretend game should have a structured system of play; the structure for narrative in an imaginary environment; the means for participants to collaborate; and the means for participants to direct themselves. The practical component of this research, The Foreshadowing workshop, combines the role-playing game and a devised theatre workshop into one process. In this process the elements of games of make-believe can be identified. Bernard Suits' theory on games of make-believe identifies the prelusory goal, lusory means, constitutive rules, and the lusory attitude as the basic elements of a game. The guidelines for a Let's Pretend game can be derived from the conventions of the role-playing game and devised theatre workshop. These guidelines would address all the requirements of a Let's Pretend game, except self-direction, which is not available in the role-playing game, or devised theatre workshop. For self-direction, guidelines are derived from Bernard Suits' notion of the game as institution through the process of rules clarification. The primary guidelines for constructing a Let's Pretend game then are: that the game structure should foster fidelity to game world specifically through the imaginary roles. The character creation process should allow these roles to be the focus for action resolution. These roles should be able to develop through interactions and these interactions, as dramatic moves, would determine the plot. The structure of the game should further foster collaboration, be easily learnt and transferred, allow for the negotiating of rules and most importantly afford all players access to the directorial function. This dissertation, however, does not attempt the construction of such a Let's Pretend game. This would be the subject of future study.

Despite legislation to the effect intended to ensure the position of the disabled in society, disabled persons still find themselves largely marginalized in the South African context. During this research a group of about twenty participants, of whom about one-half are disabled, were involved in an inclusive process of art-making. The aim of the research was to challenge the dominant discourse which holds that making art is only for the select, talented few. This research was undertaken according to the scientific guidelines of practical theology. Contextual theology was used as a starting point, with emphasis on the participatory- and narrative approaches. The characteristics of pastoral care created an atmosphere which was conducive to the disabled participants discovering and developing hope for a more rewarding future. The research culminated in an exhibition in a national museum, which could contribute to an additional dimension in the narrative of the disabled participants.
Ten spyte van wetgewing om die inklusiewe posisie van die gestremde in die samelewing te verseker, is gestremdes in die Suid Afrikaanse konteks nog grootliks gemarginaliseerd. Vanuit hierdie gemarginaliseerde posisie vind gestremdes dit moeilik en dikwels onmoontlik om hul unieke potensiaal te ontwikkel om sodoende 'n beter lewenskwaliteit lewe te vestig. 'n Groep van ongeveer twintig deelnemers, waarvan die helfte gestremd is, is tydens hierdie navorsing in 'n inklusiewe konteks van kunsmaak betrek. Die doel van die navorsing is om diskoerse uit te daag wat bepaal dat kunsmaak net vir unieke, talentvolle mense beskore was. Teen die agtergrond van 'n postmoderne epistemologie kon gestremdes sonder vooraf opgestelde reels en regulasies uiting gee aan hul verbeelding en sodoende waaghalsig wees in die proses van kunsmaak. Hierdie navorsing het plaasgevind volgens die wetenskaplike riglyne van praktiese teologie. Kontekstuele teologie is as 'n teologiese vertrekpunt gebruik, met die klem op die deelnemende en narratiewe benaderings. Sodoende is ruimte geskep vir die ontdekking sowel as die ontwikkeling van die potensiaal van die gestremde. Die eienskappe van pastorale sorg het 'n atmosfeer tydens die kunsmaaksessies geskep waarbinne die deelnemers in 'n veilige konteks hoop op 'n bykomstige realiteit en 'n beter toekoms kon ontdek en ontwikkel. Die navorsing het gekulmineer in 'n kunsuitstalling in 'n nasionale museum wat kan bydra tot 'n bykomstige dimensie in die verhaal en identiteit van die gestremdes.
