This paper will explore how individuals employ imagination through collective action. First, I will outline a definition of imagination, focusing on how the dialogic nature of imagination provides an overarching framework for individuals focused on producing change. Next, I will discuss symbolic resources as a way to link one’s imagination with another’s. Qualitative interviews from The Harry Potter Alliance will be examined as a case where collective action is taken through shared resources. It will highlight how placing real-world issues in dialogue with imaginary constructs can assist in sharing imaginations toward worlds of what-if. Discussions around the relational aspect of collective imagination will end the paper.

As a common cultural phenomenon in China and the West, alchemy not only embodies the scientific spirit of people before modern times, but also contains certain religious beliefs, and even creates unrealistic secular imaginations. When Catholicism entered China during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Chinese also projected this imagination of alchemy onto the missionaries. Behind this imagination actually lays the strong interest of Chinese people in the financial resources of the missionaries. On the one hand, there is the historical influence of traditional Chinese alchemy, and on the other hand, there is the curiosity caused by the lifestyle of missionaries in China. The imagination of alchemy not only reflects a historical aspect of the encounter between China and the West during the Ming and Qing dynasties, but also reflects a complex social psychology of mixed curiosity, panic, suspicion, and vigilance in pre-modern China.

The patterning of repetitions, such a persuasive strategy, proposes the involvement of author’s emotion. Therefore, it potentially stimulates children’s emotion and imagination to explore their own thoughts and to learn to understand their world while reading. By investigating interpersonal relation involved, repetitions show participants’ attitudes. Thus, this study concentrates on how they work on children’s emotion and imagination, using pragma-stylistic approach. The focus itself is managed to answer the creation of meaning. In order to challenge the objective, this study was applied analytic descriptive qualitative method to 36 data of repetitions. By reviewing empirical indications, this study claims that repetitions reach emphatic prominence involving logical emphasis and emotional state. Both of them invest accumulation of ideas to promote emotion and expectation; leading to imagination in evaluating appropriateness to behave in the society. Consequently, repetitions are debatable as a rhetorical device to persuade children to adapt social values.

The main question of this article is why imagine other worlds. In addition to shedding light on the motivation, we also examine the imaginative processes, their resources and the associative arrangements available to imagination in the construction of new worlds. We see ‘other worlds’ as both utopian and as fantastic spaces, following the hypothesis that the space of fantasy is never entirely free. We place particular emphasis on the space and time of utopia, and on the aspect of the novelty. The paper is divided into four parts. The first takes into account the path to the other world, or the methodical problem of imagination. The second wants to portray the other world, or the limitations to imagining something entirely different and new. The third part inquires about the cost of utopian thinking: what is lost in the process, what is sacrificed to its flattening gestures? Finally, despite all these limitations, in the fourth part we consider the significance of utopian thought for social theory.

The paper analyses Paul Ricoeur’s concept of creative imagination and shows how this essential element of human consciousness determines personal and societal identity and how it can be a source of just social norms and of ‘good life’ (vie bonne). The imagination, which is characterized by semantic innovations and a heuristic function, creates a dynamic narrative defining a human being and opens as specific rationality surpassing purely argumentative rationality and allowing to solve conflicts of social norms. The ethical aspect of this process, implying a triple structure I/other/just institutiones, creates conditions for the realization of the dialectic of justice and love in the political space; due to the dialectic, innovative ways for the realization of social justice become possible. Critical questions intended to open up the perspective for further thinking are posed at the end of the paper.

It is proposed that explaining religion in evolutionary terms is a misleading enterprise because religion is an indissoluble part of a unique aspect of human social organization. Theoretical and empirical research should focus on what differentiates human sociality from that of other primates, i.e. the fact that members of society often act towards each other in terms of essentialized roles and groups. These have a phenomenological existence that is not based on everyday empirical monitoring but on imagined statuses and communities, such as clans or nations. The neurological basis for this type of social, which includes religion, will therefore depend on the development of imagination. It is suggested that such a development of imagination occurred at about the time of the Upper Palaeolithic ‘revolution’.

"The way of considering the masculine and the feminine in the language is closely related to linguistic conventions. The well-normed uses in the different languages have, beyond the purely grammatical aspect, a cognitive influence which contributes to apprehending the feminine and the masculine in a gendered way or not. We propose for this study to rely on different linguistic uses of genders in some European languages belonging to different linguistic groups. These linguistic differences today give rise to debates on the social and cultural level. We will seek here to show that the cultural aspect and the linguistic aspect are not independent of each other, on the contrary, they are strongly linked and interact in the social representation and the masculine/feminine imagination."

Many have found relief from their inner turmoil by using art therapy. Blending art therapy with introspective contemplation allows one to get a fresh understanding of one's innermost senses. Art therapy uses an artistic approach over the creative toolkits and fosters a more intuitive approach by trying new mediums, methods, and hues. Art therapy has been demonstrated to alleviate stress, sadness, and anxiety. Group art therapy is a type of art therapy that is conducted in a group setting. This type of therapy can be particularly beneficial for people struggling with social anxiety or struggling to express their emotions in a group setting. Problem-solving and critical thinking are only a few creative talents that might benefit from art therapy. Individuals may grow their imagination and learn to approach problems by tinkering with various methods. This study reflects the gain in self-confidence and optimising the psychological complications using art therapy.

In contemporary Irish Society there is considerable uneasiness about both the existence of and threats to the ‘patriarchal dividend’ (O'Connell, 1995a: 82). It is suggested that this wider social and cultural context, characterised by male dominance of key institutions, militates against the identification of gender related private troubles as public issues. Burawoy's (2005) focus on the public aspect of each of the four types of sociology he identifies (viz., policy, critical, public and professional sociology) is used as a framework to explore the recent contribution made by sociologists in Ireland to the identification of gender as such a public issue. The article concludes that, by not explicitly focusing on it their contribution as agenda setters has been more limited than it might otherwise have been.

Abstract: If the very act of speaking back against colonial tropes has itself become an aspect of mainstream SF that cynically distorts the force and significance of the concept of decolonization while simultaneously serving as a way to avoid engaging with SF's own historical connection to colonialism, then how may we answer the crucial question that, as insists, artists and scholars must continue to ask themselves and answer in new ways: "what makes [Indigenous Futurisms] different from more mainstream science fiction?" This essay seeks to make a contribution to what must necessarily be a series of engagements with and answers to this question that together help us not just understand what indigenous futurisms are but also what they do. It is the latter relation to which this essay accords particular significance. Examining the temporality of IF, for instance, both on an epistemological and on a formal level, allows us not only to draw one important distinction between IF and what we may understand as settler futurism, but we are also able to catch one glimpse of the striking artistic, political, and social possibility of IF in our time.

During the last decade, the in vivo impromptu speech task has gained widespread use in social anxiety research. However, few authors have examined its psychometric properties. Consequently, studies comprising the in vivo impromptu speech task are reviewed in order to documents those properties. Secondly,, the in vivo impromptu speech task appears less economic for clinicians. While imagery is an economic alternative to in vivo stimuli in other areas, literature contains no account of this type of procedure in a standardized behavioral approach test. Consequently, the present study aims at comparing the mean levels of variables related to anxiety elicited by in vivo and imaginal presentations of the impromptu speech task with social phobies. According to the studies reviewed, the in vivo impromptu speech task has globally adequate psychometric properties. Results of the second study show that while most variables reach a significantly smaller magnitude during the imaginal than the in vivo task, the former still prompts clinically meaningful levels for these variables and seems especially potent.

The part played by the imaginary does not seem -- a priori -- to be fundamental in the dynamics of motivation at school, i. E. In an environment in which a pupil is to acquire knowledge in conformity with well defined programs. Yet this perspective can be inverted if we consider motivation in the perspective of self-realisation -- in a group and in connection with the acquisition of knowledge for spontaneous creative needs. I have used gilbert durand's works about the imaginary -- and in particular his conception of "the anthropological structures of the imaginary" - as a theoretical basis to develop a methodology and made experiments in various school-classes. I have gathered data and analysed the evolution of some pupils or groups of pupils. As the outcome of this research it appears that though a pedagogy based on the imaginery has important effects, it is especially the regulation of space and time at school that motivates people to learn and live together. For an activity to make sense, three pedagogical elements must be harmoniously combined : individual testing, participation in group activities and the circulation of information in the class -- a learning system. Now this corresponds to the three categories ("regimes) in gilbert durand's structures of the imaginary: heroic, mystical and synthetic or cyclic, a trilogy which constitutes the anthropological basis of the psyche, prefigurating an education with a socializing and democratic aim. The domination of a pedagogical model --'heroic' for instance --could then be considered to be a factor of separation, academic failure, social fragmentation

What is the purpose of the philosopher in politics? We examine the way in which this question has been posed and the way in which it was answered in France in the years from the mid-18th century to about 1780. For a context characterized both by the omnipresence of philosophical discourse and its lack of autonomy, we put forward our understanding of the way the possible effects of the political writings of philosophers are identified. Two problems then arise. On the one hand, there is the question of determining under what condition philosophical discourse on politics is deemed useful, and what type of hold it must have on its object to be evaluated as such. On the other hand, the question of the effects produced by the text should invite us to consider how the relationship between the philosopher and his readers is established through the text: how are the ideas communicated, and what are the direct consequences? What is the relationship between knowledge and action? Our investigation has taken two subsequent approaches. First, we sought to identify the terms in which the question of the effects of political works written by philosophers was raised in the second half of the eighteenth century. This has enabled us to highlight the fact that the usefulness of writing is envisaged in two dimensions: insofar as it is likely to affect the world but also insofar as it is likely to contribute to the progress of knowledge and to fuel an intellectual debate. In either case, the form and style of the work are considered central to ensure its effect on the reader and encourage him to think. In a second phase, we sought out examples of a particular genre: Rousseau and Diderot's writing on Corsica, Poland and Russia allowed us to analyze how the counseling philosopher defines his role in relation to the legislator but also attempts to elaborate a language which at the same time allows him to grasp his object in its singularity and to make himself heard by his reader. These two approaches have shown us a distinct sphere of the philosopher's word in politics. While keeping his distance from action, the philosopher is the man of truth; the gradual contestation of the reference to the philosopher as legislator leaves room for a critical use of knowledge. The political fecundity of the philosophical word then appears not in its capacity to institute but rather to facilitate imagining other possible institutions

The objective of this PhD project was to understand the deployment and development of publishing houses since 1980 in the French regions and in Brittany and Alsace in particular. One of the principal hypotheses was that this was linked to the quest for recognition of cultural difference. The research results show that the action of publishers and the books in Alsace and in Brittany are linked to different social dynamics. In Brittany, publishers act following a logic of production, whereas in the Alsace, the renaissance of publishing in the 1980ies is based on a logic of reproduction. These publishers draw upon the continuity and heritage of XlXth century Alsatian publishing and refer also to the rich regional printing tradition since 1450. The study not only underlines transformations that occur in the publishing sector, but gives also deeper insides in the social changes on the local level. More generally, these two cases show that the return to the past and to the roots seems to prepare local and social imaginaries for the emergent transnational condition of society

This thesis explores the issue of imaginative writing of deaf children. Thirty deaf children aged 9-11 years were recruited form Hearing Impaired Units and mainstream schools. Thirty hearing children were matched on academic performance (according to teachers) and chronological age and recruited from the same classes as the deaf children. Three sets of imaginative stories were collected from the above groups at three points during one academic year. A mixed methodology was employed in order to investigate imaginative writing of deaf children. For the evaluation of children’s stories an “Imagination Story Scale” was developed based both on the literature review and on the in-depth analyses of four children’s imaginative stories. The scale consists of four categorised divisions (story structure, story plot, linguistic imagination, originality) and one additional division (overall assessment). Assessments of both deaf and hearing children’s stories using the scale revealed little variation between deaf and hearing children’s scores in the scale, indicating that deaf children do have imagination and are able to express it in writing. However, differences were observed between the scores for the different topics (for both groups of children) suggesting that the topic of the stories influenced their scores. Imaginative writing of deaf children was not predicted by: age, gender, degree of hearing loss, type of communication used at home, or use of activities to promote children’s imagination either in the classroom or at home. Teachers’ opinions of deaf children’s imagination were explored through interviews. The Teachers of the Deaf tended to under-estimate deaf children’s ability to demonstrate imagination in their writing by comparison with the stories that the deaf children produced.

This project forms a record of the fishermen tales of the community of Nova Porto XV – district village of Bataguassu, Mato Grosso do Sul – flooded because of the dam of Engenheiro Sérgio Motta Power Plant in Port Primavera. We propose a dive in the imaginary of the fishermen, especially concerning the history of the village, the labor in the river, the mandatory displacement after the flooding of the lake and the adaptation process. We compose, from the language of those people, a general picture capable of expressing the comprehension of their own history, of the polical forces that interfered in their fate, of the facts that hit them and so many other unpredicted events triggered by the forced moving from the place where they lived in. The narratives, taken in public areas and informal conversations – histories and affairs about the past and the present – compose a chronicle of the daily routine, and exalt the materiality of life and the transforming action of the fishermen over the space. Those daydreams are not more abstractions or escapes from reality, on the contrary, they are strategies to act in the world, build life and take over the reins of their own destiny. This particular form of registraction of the collective memory merely provides the encounter with the forms of organization of the practices and the customs in the village from its start in the beginning of the 20th century, going over all its variations, up to a description of the current way of life. The narratives registered in informal conversations of the daily routine of the fishermen reveal a complex and ambiguous relationship with space and time... AbstractThe understanding of the notion of ‘the past’ has undergone a complex development in recent years within archaeology and related disciplines. It continues to be interpreted in different ways and in relation to different types of evidence. Indeed, understandings of the conceptualisation of time itself has received an increasing amount of attention, both in relation to methodological and theoretical considerations as well as in terms of public and historical imaginations. In this paper, we explore these aspects in relation to the transformation of archaeological evidence into heritage in the context of European Palaeolithic cave art sites. We focus on the processes of the perception, creation, and imagination of time in relation to 3D replicas of two famous painted cave sites: Lascaux and Chauvet. Through our analysis, we demonstrate that these replicas are reflections of a modern, essentialist, and linear understanding of history, which is linked to a fascination with the notion of originality and related ideas of purity, authority, and wholeness. Engaging with the temporality of the replica also allows an understanding of the unstable character of these notions as the replicas simultaneously exist in (at least) two temporalities and the viewer’s engagement might oscillate between the two. While being wholly located in the present, the replica equally reflects human masterful abilities in the present and the deep past. Our analysis consequently allows to appreciate how the replica participates in the unstable and socially constructed temporalities of authenticity and originality.

The aim of this chapter is to point out the connection between mobility and cultural activities of Chinese returnee opera students. Many Chinese students in Italy attend cultural and artistic university courses. They may be considered significant in analyzing Chinese reverse migration from Italy. The examined connection involves several dynamics, including artistic aspects, historical reasons, social and economic changes, public policies and consumerism styles. Mobility and cultural production may be analyzed through both a structural and imaginative dimension. The structural dimension is composed of international agreements, global mobility law conditions, social and economic changes, and private investments in education to accumulate cultural capital that produce (or reproduce) certain social structures and experiences. On the other hand, the imaginative dimension is shaped by the lifestyle adopted by middle class families, including their work activities and cultural consumption. Returnee students are both the subjects who promote this process and the object of this dynamic. Chinese singers of Italian opera, upon graduating university in Italy, join the possibilities of the work field—in Bourdieu’s perspective—which is formed by the two aforementioned dimensions. Finally, perceived differences between Italy and China in terms of musical technique and culture are reworked according to contemporary cultural policies.

This chapter describes another aspect of human uniqueness—the links between consciousness, creativity, and imagination. Russian psychologist Lev Vygotsky believed that human consciousness is transformed by social interactions, particularly through language, in a similar fashion to how tools have allowed us to transform the natural world. Vygotsky saw imagination as no less influenced by this social input than other aspects of consciousness. To deal with a changing environment, he argued that the human brain ‘combines and creatively reworks elements of this past experience and uses them to generate new propositions and new behaviour [making] the human being a creature oriented toward the future, creating the future and thus altering his own present’. Vygotsky thought that imagination was particularly stimulated in the developing child through the process of play. Some aspects of adult human culture have attributes in common with play, including the link with imagination.

This chapter deals with the philosophical foundations of Hume’s social and political philosophy. Hume scholars have discussed his theory of association of ideas as a purely philosophical one. As many eighteenth-century critics were acutely aware, however, this theory must been considered an aspect of Epicureanism; one which allegedly undermines the spiritual aspect of human reason and virtues by transforming them into the mere consequences of habit and custom. What differentiates Hume’s associationist theory from more materialistic versions lies in the former’s emphasis on the psychological (not physiological) explanation of the workings of imagination. This is closely related to his defence of moral causes and his criticism of natural causes in the essay ‘Of National Characters’, which was to influence William Godwin. Although Duncan Forbes claims that Hume lost interest in his associationist theory after the Treatise, Hume in fact maintained a strong interest in this theory throughout his writings because the workings of imagination were the keystone for Hume in his continual investigations of the cultural diversity of human institutions.

Rabindranath Tagore, the Nobel laureate in literature, is one of the greatest poets, philosophers, humanitarians, social workers, freedom fighters, and prominent promoters of international understanding, not only in the context of West Bengal but also in India. He produced a large number of poetries, books, and novels that were written in different contexts and at various times. The long-standing prejudice between men and women is the cause of the society's backwardness. At that time too, one of the biggest predicaments was gender discrimination. 'SatidahoProtha', 'Balyo Bibaho', 'BohuBibaho', etc., as well as the class system were extremely cruel and vicious social systems, which stirred Tagore's imagination. He has therefore made an effort to combat gender discrimination through his writing and other endeavours. The fact that gender equality is now seen as one of the objectives of sustainable development is due to the persistence of gender discrimination. This qualitative study attempts to highlight the theoretical and practical work of Rabindranath Tagore in eradicating gender discrimination. This study is delimited to various short stories and poems by Rabindranath Tagore to analyse the theoretical aspect and the activities of Visva-Bharati to analyse the practical aspect.

To understand historic developments of the past the authors normally turn to facts: Archival records, testimonies or remains from the past – they are looking for tangible evidence to reconstruct the past. In particular in respect to the technological development that originated at the turn from the 19th to the 20th century the role of deterministic interpretations has been very strong. The focus is on technologies and how they improved along an inevitable time line towards technical perfection (Marvin, 1988). Another historic perspective that takes the social aspects into account mainly traces how people negotiated the old and the new and how technologies changed the social fabric. What stays out of the focus of most research is what people in the past felt and thought and how their imagination of what is possible and desirable influenced the development of technologies and the society. The following will use the example of the interactive media art piece The Imaginary 20th Century to discuss an approach to turn the attention to the re-construction of historical imagination with a particular focus on the imaginative processes and their communication to a current audience.

Abstract University education rarely focuses its attention and imagination on teaching students how to turn a vision into reality, how to design and develop social change organizations. This chapter describes aspects of a teaching and transformative learning model developed and launched at Stanford and Harvard Universities to undertake this mission: the Social Entrepreneurship Collaboratory (SE Lab). Its description endeavours to answer several questions: How can universities help create, develop, and sustain a rising generation of social entrepreneurs and their ideas? What new forms of learning environments successfully integrate theory and practice? What conditions best support university students in studying, creating, and developing social change organizations, thinking through their ideas, and connecting with their inspiration? What are the intellectual content and the rationale for a curriculum addressing this at a university?

In this chapter, the authors consider how computer games can be beneficial for learning and education purposes. How computer games can start the learning progress, capture the imagination, enable creativity and storytelling, and provide an understanding of the power of computing is discussed. Also considered is how games might introduce girls (and boys) to a wide range of 21st century skills, which may lead to greater engagement in science, technology, and engineering subjects. However, due to the masculinity of computer games and the computer game culture more generally, the gender divide is a major disadvantage in the uptake of games for learning.

The instability of modern social conditions, informational and emotional richness of learning contribute to the emergence of negative states of fear, uncertainty, aggression, and provokes psychosomatic disorders of students. In order to satisfy the requirements of society, it is necessary to have a high level of development of the ability to control oneself, allowing self-regulation of the mental state within certain social frameworks. In everyday life, students use sets of techniques developed in individual experience that allow them to cope with negative conditions, enter the educational rhythm or relieve stress. Therefore, it is relevant to study spontaneously developing methods and techniques for self-regulation of states that help prevent the negative dynamics of the current state and provide an acceptable level of adaptation. In this regard, the article aims at studying ordinary ways of self-regulation of negative states of students and their relationship with the productivity of cognitive processes and individual cognitive styles. According to the results of the study, we found that typical negative states of students are fatigue, laziness, frustration. The most frequent methods of their regulation are communication, music, walking, sleeping. The relationship between the productive, stylistic characteristics of cognitive processes and the choice of self-regulation methods is shown. Thus, respondents with a high level of imagination and heuristic cognitive style choose a method of communication. Differences in the methods of self-regulation and experienced states in boys and girls were revealed. The results can be of interest to teachers and practical psychologists in education.

Children's gender perceptions are actively formed in preschool age and are an integral component of person's gender identity. The formation of sexual identity of a child continues from 2 to 7 years, and the formation of his/her imagination occurs in the process of socialization through: identification, imitation, following, modeling, direction, self-determination, encouragement, self-acceptance, self-reflection, cognitive dissonance. Child masters the social norms, patterns of behavior and cultural values of his/her nation. The gender approach to the upbringing of the preschool children should be focused on the formation and establishment of equal, gender-independent opportunities for self-realization of the individual. However as practical experience shows, the gender component and its methodological data are insufficient in terms of the content of preschool education. In preschool institutions, gender education takes place spontaneously, educators use the traditional approach to forming child's self-esteem and his stereotypes of self-perception only on the basis of gender, so it is important today to pay more attention to gender education and socialization. Experimentally it has been investigated the peculiarities of gender and age identification of the preschoolers of the preschool institution of a combined type #9 of the city of Chernivtsi. According to the research, the greater part of children of 5-6 years old are aware of their belonging to the male or female sex, having the already formed gender identity. Gender perceptions of preschool children are gender-appropriate: girls’ - feminine, and boys’ – masculine. In addition, they are stereotypical: boys have instrumental role, girls-expressive.

For pressing and complex spatial or social urban agendas, understanding and interpreting place has always been an important issue. In-depth and close explorative reading of a site—in which drawing, modeling and writing (the basic tools of architecture) become instruments to open up new perspectives—is vital for imagining site-specific architectural possibilities. We thus see creative imagination, related to and emerging from place, as a crucial source of innovation. As educators, therefore, we need to examine how to guide students explore their imaginative faculties. Our pedagogi-cal approach is founded upon the philosophical thought of phenomenology, theory on place, findings from neurosci-ence, and examination of architectural precedents. Based on these underpinnings we developed a course that focused on enhancing students’ spatial imagination and challenged them to think how the tools of architectural analysis and design can offer new imaginative ways to approach the local, social and historical aspects of a place. The paper illustrates how this framework is brought into architectural education by engaging the example of “Methods of Analysis and Imagination,” a master level elective course we taught in 2019. It presents the course’s overarching structure, as it unfolded over three intensive workshops on drawing, modeling and writing respectively. Investigating a selected site—through readings, conversations, exercises, hands-on and in situ assignments—the three workshops explored the way imagination can help us look at a place, and discover new and unique spatial or architectural relationships lurking in the banal and the ordinary. Through selected students’ work the paper concludes situating the course in an educational context that cares to expand spatial and architectural imagination, trusting imagination to be the productive and valuable answer to the many critical contemporary conditions we face as architects.

The present work aims to address the literary genre of fairy tales on the basis of their psychologicaland educational value aimed at satisfying the psychological-emotional and cognitive-ethical aspects. The objectives will be to present the conscious and unconscious aspects of the characters and to reveal the creative abilities that fairy tales contain: what are the main characteristics and their psychological value. The fairy tale represents an important point both in the field of imagination and creativity and you know in the didactic one. It is important to give the younger generations the opportunity to develop creative thinking, to test themselves with different types of intelligence, to get dirty with the experience of the world in which one lives, to get excited, to be empathetic. The method used will be the psychological analysis of the characters; in particular we will focus on the reading and analysis of the fairy tale "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint- Exupery, a sublime tale, full of meanings, which through its images has fascinated entire generations and which aims to transmit the true meaning of life: contact with the other. The psychodynamic aspects of the fairy tale will be externalized through the possibility of knowing oneself thus allowing a constant development of the recipient's creativity and imagination. In conclusion, fairy tales represent the key for the child to enter the world of fantasy, creativity and objective reality, without getting confused with his affective-emotional balance and with his future possibilities of socialization and logical understanding.

Summary: With various stages of social development, the way of life changed, but play remained, in all conditions, an integral part of children’s activities. Play can be a concrete and effective way to ensure the active participation of children in teaching mathematics. Learning mathematics through play and fun develops students’ interest in mathematics, develops their imagination and makes the learning process easier and more fun. This paper deals with mathematical and didactic games, their role, importance and possibilities of application in the lower grades of primary school. Some examples of mathematical and didactic games are presented, as well as the ways of their application in mathematics classes. An overview of some of the earlier research studies in the field of the use of games in mathematics classes is given.

Loki’s Pain is an immersive 3D audio installation artwork, a sonification of seismic activity. Visitors take the place of Loki, who was punished by the gods and caused earthquakes. We designed an auditory display in the shape of a hemi-dodecahedron and built a prototype with a low-budget, DIY approach. Seismic data were retrieved from the Internet. Location, magnitude, and epicentre depth of hundreds of recent earthquakes were sonified with physical modelling synthesis into a 10-minute piece. The visitor experience was evaluated in a listening experiment (N = 7), comparing the installation with a version for headphones. Differences on eight semantic scales were small. A content analysis of focus group discussions nuanced the investigated topics, and qualitative interpretation strengthened the quantitative findings. Verbal expressions of immersivity were stronger in the installation, which stimulated longer and more detailed responses. Aspects such as audio quality, the structure's physical-visual shape, and multisensorial design evoked both positive and negative emotions, and elicited imagination and memory recall. However, the assumed capacity of the LOKI structure to stimulate a richer social experience than that of headphone listening was not supported by the responses in this study.

The land acquisition and real estate development have caused rapid disappearance and decline of a large number of traditional villages, resulting in "urban villages" in China. They seem chaotic, but contain rich and colorful social life. The living environment is really harsh, but people always maintain close relationship with each other. They are different from neither the modern urban nor traditional villages, but they have their own unique vitality. Such heterogeneous space is always a symbol of historical change and cultural collision which, according to the French philosopher Michel Foucault, can be called Heterotopias. In order to study this heterotopic phenomenon, the triangular area of Guandongdian district in Beijing has been chosen as the object of this case study. With the in-depth investigation of interviews, observation, statistics and sketches, this paper is trying to interpret the characteristics of the heterotopic state of the urban village from three aspects of social form, urban morphology and architectural feature. Eventually, in order to keep the complexity and diversification of urban village, several strategies are put forward for reference to future transforming practice. References Foucault, M. Problem Statement: Job crafting" refers to the psychological and physiological adaptations an employee makes while adhering to the requirements and relationships of his employment. Improving the level of fit between the employee and their job is the aim of these changes. Employees may also self-initiate changes to the job requirements and resources, whether they be increased or decreased, in order to achieve their personal and professional goals and to strike a balance between the job requirements and resources and their unique needs and abilities (Wrzesniewski & Dutton, 2001). Employees generally don't stay at their jobs for the years they spend doing nothing with them; instead, they make small adjustments to improve their happiness at work, even when their professional circumstances prevent them from doing so. Worker modifications typically take place in one or more of the following three domains: social, cognitive, and skill. In terms of Algeria's work environment, do employees engage in job crafting within their respective fields, and are they content with their current jobs? Can job crafting be classified as an ergonomic practice? This is the subject of the research paper.Objective/ Question: This study is centered on the following objectives:1. Assess the level of job crafting by senior staff members.2. Examine the relationship between job crafting and the mental health of senior employees.3. Consider the possibility that job crafting is the antithesis of ergonomics.Additionally, this research aims to respond to the following queries:1. To what extent do senior employees in their different fields practice job crafting?2. How do senior staff members who are implementing job crafting feel about their mental health?3. Can job crafting be categorized as an additional type of ergonomics?Methodology: Researchers employed both survey and correlational methods of the descriptive approach to carry out this investigation. A questionnaire created especially for the study was used to gather research data. Forty-two teachers of elementary schools made up the research sample. There were 21 educators from the first cycle (primary grades 1-3) and 21 educators from the second cycle (primary grades 4-6). The sample's average age was 55.76 years, with a standard deviation of 03.69 years. Results: To what extent do senior employees in their different fields practice job crafting? The findings demonstrated that most people in the general sample said they frequently crafted their work. They stated that they have made the changes they feel are required to advance educational work. Task components, the cognitive components, and the social components were the three areas of adjustment that they concentrated on.How are the senior staff members who are using job crafting doing in terms of mental health? The findings also demonstrated the high degree of mental health among employees who do craft their work. It is noteworthy, to mention that first-cycle educators have been found to have better mental health than second-cycle educators. Does job crafting fall under the category of another type of ergonomics? Ergonomics has been defined as the study and practice of fitting work to people for over fifty years, with the goal of enabling people to work happily and enjoy what they do. This is still the definition that is currently used to describe ergonomics. However, who makes the work human-readable? In this case, the person who adapts the work would likely be an ergonomist or engineer with ergonomic training (Grandjean & Kroemer, 1997). This was the state of affairs for many years. However, the concept of "job crafting", has been aiming to achieve a similar objective as ergonomics: that is tailoring work to the needs of the individual so they can be happy doing it. Ergonomics and job crafting therefore have the same end goal, but different methods to get there. In other words, they disagree on the question of who handles the adaptation process. When it comes to job crafting, the employee customizes the task to fit his or her skills and capabilities (Demerouti, 2014).Discussion: The fact that employees are granted freedom within reasonable bounds is among the most significant developments in the twenty-first century workplace. Because an employee with autonomy can be creative and imaginative. In this particular context, it has been observed that employees in the education sector implement any adjustments they think are necessary to ensure they are as comfortable and happy as possible while working. Teachers' excellent psychological health is one outcome of this change at work. Job crafting is a type of ergonomics since it aims to adjust work to workers. Conclusion:According to this study, senior teachers often craft their jobs to make them more appropriate for them. It also demonstrated the high degree of psychological well-being of teachers who engage in job crafting.

Formal planning instruments and procedures have often been unpopular and ineffective for solving complex spatial issues, such as urban sprawl or transport congestion. As a result, such conflicts turn into complex planning tasks that usually exceed the provisioned time and funding, especially when faced with adversarial interests of actors from different organisations, sectors or social groups. Hence, informal planning, as a non-binding supplement to official planning instruments, is often considered highly effective. In its broadest sense, informal planning includes the principles of collaborative dialogue, diverse networks, trustful relationships and tailor-made processes among interested parties. Consequently, informal planning processes foster sound decision-making delivering a spectrum of problem-oriented solutions and increasing public consensus, while enacting experimentation, learning, change, and the creation of shared meanings among stakeholders. However, informal planning cannot be taken for granted – it is strongly interwoven with the planning culture influenced by the historical and political background, and the current socio-economic conditions. This paper revolves around several pillars. After an introductory section, a brief historical overview firstly identifies the place of informal planning in various planning models that have appeared since the 1960s. More specifically, informal planning is analysed against the theoretical concept of collaborative rationality. Finally, the paper focuses on a specific informal planning procedure called the ‘test planning method’, being analysed against the previously elaborated theoretical background. As this instrument links both formal and informal planning, its comparison and interrelation with the theoretical background of collaborative rationality contributes to elucidating the following attributes of adaptive (collaborative) urban governance: 1) flexible and agile institutional arrangements supportive to various kinds of urban planning mechanisms (not only official tools), 2) proactive and imaginative planners ready to accept solutions created outside the technical domain of instrumental rationality, and 3) inclusion of numerous stakeholders to exchange various information and different types of knowledge, i.e. expert and experiential knowledge. Observed through the example of the test planning method, the article finally highlights the successful aspects of informal planning, however, pointing also to its shortcomings, which could be expected in the societies with a lack of key democratic elements
