Digital technologies have radically changed the tourism industry and gaining a lot of attention from the stakeholders. At present, there is voluminous but fragmented research to cover the various aspects of digital tourism, but a consolidated “big picture” of the extant research is missing. By performing a bibliometric analysis of 827 papers on digital tourism, an attempt has been made to fill this void. The investigation revealed that the management of smart destinations, the internet as a communication and marketing channel, technology and sustainability, and consumer behavior are emerging research directions in digital tourism. Observations regarding little scientific interest and collaborations in regions like Russia and Africa present an opportunity for researchers and businesses to set directions and strategies for the future. Since the turn of the century, sociological consumer research has had a strong focus on ordinary, routinised consumption, especially within the sustainability context. This approach has been a welcome alternative when understanding sustainable consumption compared with relying on individualistic psychological or identity-communicative approaches. However, with the shift towards a practice theoretical approach, there has been a tendency to ignore variation in consumer practices. Specifically, questions regarding the extent to which ethical concern can explain variance have not yet been included. Important questions, such as whether and how ethics takes part in changing practices in more sustainable directions, have similarly been neglected. This theoretically based article intends to contribute to further developing theories of practice by bringing together three discussions: how variation in carrying and performing practices can be conceptualised, how different approaches to consumption have conceptualised ethics and how ethics of care and the concept of general understandings can be used to conceptualise ethical aspects of consumption within theories of practice. The article concludes by summarising the findings from these discussions and raising questions of further empirical and theoretical concern.

Traditionally, assessment for university students in the humanities has been in an essay format, but this has changed extensively in the last decade. Assessments now may entail auditory and visual presentations, films, mind-maps, and other modes of communication. These formats are outside the established conventions of humanities and may be considered as creative works. Exploring definitions and research in the field of assessment of creativity, highlighting ways to explicitly assess the creative aspects of student work. An obligatory first year common unit titled “Cultural intelligence and capability” is examined as a model of how creative assessment can be used to extend engagement with subject material. Implications of considering creative aspects, in an explicit way, are reviewed. The underpinning argument is that in the current learning settings, creativity should be seen as an intrinsic part of appraisal criteria in the humanities as much as in the arts.

The increase in the frequency of cesarean section (CS) remains one of the actual problems of modern obstetrics and causes the concern to the world community. Today, it is believed that the abdominal delivery is a safer and more non-traumatic method of delivery for the benefit of the fetus than vaginal delivery. The relative number of cases of abdominal delivery, according to the WHO, should not exceed 10 % of the total number of births, which minimizes the occurrence of complications and prevents the development of bleeding and purulent-inflammatory diseases in the postpartum period. But the latest data demonstrate that this percentage is 18.6 % worldwide, that is one in five births ends in CS. The frequency of CS has been growing rapidly in recent years in most countries of the world, and in this context Ukraine is no exception (14.2 % in 2006, to 25.08 % in 2020). This increases the risk of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. In the presented material for the distance learning about the operative delivery, doctors will find up-to-date information on indications, contraindications, methods of CS, as well as recommendations on counseling of pregnant women before surgery and preventive measures to minimize complications during obstetric surgery. According to the modern approach, the indications for the CS are divided into planned and urgent ones, which are clearly defined in this article. Considerable attention is paid to counseling of the patients before this operation and the obligatory acquaintance of the pregnant woman with the method of performing CS, anesthesia and potential perioperative complications and signing her the informed consent on the possible expansion of surgery. According to the standpoint of evidence-based medicine, the most optimal method of CS is presented, which significantly reduces the likelihood of hemorrhagic, purulent-inflammatory complications during surgery and in the postoperative period. The issues related to modern methods of anesthesia of CS with the use of multimodal analgesia, early mobilization of women in labor and prevention of thromboembolic complications, rehabilitation measures are also identified.

Self-reports on the HEXACO-PI-R scales were examined in relation to academic majors in post-secondary education ( N > 73,000). Openness to Experience showed the largest mean differences across academic major areas, with the Visual/Performing Arts and Humanities areas averaging higher and Health Sciences and Business/Commerce averaging lower. Emotionality showed the second largest differences, with the Engineering and Physical Sciences/Math areas averaging lower and Visual/Performing Arts averaging higher; these differences in Emotionality became smaller in within-sex analyses. In addition, Extraversion tended to be higher for Business/Commerce and lower for Physical Sciences/Math, while Honesty-Humility was lower for Business/Commerce. The facet-level analyses provided additional detail, as facet scales in the same domain sometimes showed considerably different means within a given academic major area. In one case, Visual/Performing Art majors averaged lower in Prudence, but higher in Perfectionism, even though both facets belong to the Conscientiousness domain.

Theatre at the end of the twentieth century, like most other aspects of life in industrialized countries, relies heavily on computers. From the word processors on which playwrights compose texts and PR officers compose advertisements to the lighting boards which automatically recall hundreds of cues, to the ticket systems and automated telephone sales, to the accounting packages which finally chronicle the season, large and small theatres in Canada rely more and more on computer technology to manage and to shape their product. These “front of the house” uses of computer technologies have gradually entered theatre production in the same manner that computers have entered other aspects of daily life: as mechanisms to save time, reduce drudgery, or allow small staffs to perform more functions. In this sense, computers in theatre occupy the same register as computers in business: they are machines which arose historically from arithmetic computation.

Abstract In 2020 and 2021, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) played a crucial role during the lockdowns, giving people the chance to continue doing business, entertainment, and education. In the education sector, in response to the outbreak of COVID-19, many countries adopted ICT-enabled distance education, which shows both positive and problematic features. The most concerning aspects relate to the digital divide, the readers’ ability to assess the trustworthiness of texts found on the Web, the educators‘ competence in using ICT by incorporating it in their pedagogical practice, and the applicability of distance education to the teaching of performing arts.

We consider the features of model terminology. The purpose of the study is to comprehend and initially describe the specifics of the basic model legislative terms and definitions, aspects and trends of their formulation and use. To achieve this goal, we analyze 157 model acts (13 codes and 144 laws) adopted by the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states in the period from 2012 to 2021; more than 2000 model terms and definitions. We note that the model term formation is carried out taking into account the established traditions of creating legal acts, the peculiarities of the hierarchical and subject-branch correlation of legislative terms and con-cepts, as well as understanding the functions, means and methods of formulating legal definitions. Model definitions of terms reflect the typical phenomena of legal discourse of unification, trans-formation, homonymy, polysemy, synonymy, antonymy of legal concepts, variability of their legal definitions. The methodological basis is formed by general scientific methods and approaches used in modern Russian studies and legal linguistics (analysis, comparison, analogy, modeling, contextual, interpretive, systemic, interdisciplinary and other approaches). The work can be useful to those whose activities are related to the official business sphere of communication, who creates, analyzes and systematizes legal acts, examines the development of legal terminology, the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation.

Doctoral programs in the fine arts, instead of coming up with their own ways of doing things, tend to adopt standards from the humanities, which themselves tend to adopt standards from science. Because of being preoccupied with trying to look like other disciplines, artistic thinking within artistic doctorates gets suppressed. But if we look into science directly and not through this second-hand approach, we can find aspects of scientific thinking that are closer to art than to the humanities. In this paper, I give examples of artistic thinking in the work of various scientists and mathematicians: a non-fiction book that uses fiction (Douglas Hofstadter’s book Gödel, Escher, Bach), a linguistic analysis that concludes with a story (Livia Polanyi’s book Telling the American Story), scientific lectures with unusual formal aspects (Roger Penrose’s “VJing” of multiple layers of foils through an overhead projector, David Deutsch’s Lectures on Quantum Computation), and a collective hiding behind a fictional mathematician (Nicolas Bourbaki). I also briefly introduce the problem of verbal overshadowing and the effects it may have on the creative process in art.

This article considers the way we talk about learning and teaching the humanities in higher education in the UK. By using the tools of the arts and humanities within the scholarship of learning and teaching, and examining a personal perspective, the author explores the transformational impact of French language learning and teaching. Close textual analysis of literary language learning memoirs highlight the sensual and physical effects of language learning that can remain muted in our everyday conversations. As a result, the author suggests that rather than lament the death of the humanities in 21st century higher education, learning and teaching a language offers a pedagogy of desire that embodies the transformation aspect of our disciplines, as we deal with the business of being human.

How do European Arts and Humanities (A&H) graduates contribute to their economies and societies? This paper aims to answer this challenging research question by analysing data from the 2018 pilot Eurograduate survey of graduates. The article explores the monitoring of employment dynamics and considers the labour market outcomes of A&H graduates compared to other graduate groups. Our analysis enables an understanding of the utilisation of A&H graduates’ knowledge and skills in the current employment market (job-qualification match) and more specifically, their contribution to legal, social and cultural occupations. The dataset variables enable an exploration of the multiple contributions made by A&H graduates to other aspects of contemporary society. Specifically, we examine graduates’ volunteering activity during and after their degree, alongside other forms of civic engagement, including political and social action. The findings contribute to the broader debate on the value and impact of A&H degrees beyond measurements of graduate earnings.

To deal with these business developments, maturity is needed in aspects of its entrepreneurial orientation and the adoption of social media as one of its marketing channels. If these two aspects can be applied properly, this is believed to increase a sustainable competitive advantage. The main objective of this research is to analyze the effect of entrepreneurial orientation and social media marketing on sustainable competitive advantage. The sample in this study amounted to 170 respondents, who were determined by a convenience sampling approach. Data collection uses a questionnaire instrument which is then distributed online. Data analysis using the SPSS application displays data processing results through research instrument testing with validity and reliability tests, multiple regression analysis, coefficient of determination, and hypothesis testing. Based on the results of data analysis, it is concluded that entrepreneurial orientation and social media marketing have a positive and significant effect on sustainable competitive advantage. The research implication explains that MSME actors should be passionate about doing something so that creativity can emerge if you, as an entrepreneur, are passionate about doing or discovering new things. The next implication is recommending that MSME business actors be advised to integrate marketing channels traditionally based on modern marketing

This article discusses how doctoral candidates identify and navigate personal learning challenges on their journey to becoming researchers. Our study asked creative arts and humanities candidates to think beyond the research project itself and reflect on emotional hurdles they were facing or had overcome. The findings point to a great deal of ‘invisible’ work that underpins doctoral study, and show that such hidden work can have a major influence not only on the research project, but also on progress and satisfaction with the learning journey. In this article, we outline the key themes that emerged from the study: on the emotional and transformational dimensions of the doctoral journey. Using these themes and the candidate stories surrounding them, we align the doctoral journey with Joseph Campbell’s journeying ‘hero’ and Mezirow’s concept of transformation, and suggest how making such invisible aspects of candidature more visible might enhance research training.

Consensus on the impact of design on perfor-mance can be said to be evident at all three levels of decision-making in organizations: strategic, tac-tical, operational (Brunswicker et al. 2019; Gemser & Leenders 2001). This impact broadly assumes the following forms: Design impact for strategy in action and customer experience Design impact for business strategy, process, innovation, and performance Design impact for cultural change and organization transformation Despite these revelations, precious little guidance is found in the way of forming a holistic view of the why of design science, core capabilities, theo-ries, and methods in business economics and the ultimate pertinence of the design function in any given organization. Similarly, the how, which would outline the ways in which these capacities could be built and coordinated towards the support of stra-tegic design and forward-looking decision-making processes is at best assumed, yet very rarely articulated. This issue includes both the papers from academia and professionals we received through our Call, as well as the results of a complementary survey con-ducted by the editors with Chief Design Officers. Our editorial foreword uses the model (Figure 1) as the framework for a synthesis, linking strategy in design science and strategy in business science: Part I - The vertical axis of Strategy from Vision to Mission through Value: design strategy versus cor-porate strategy, and business economics in design-driven organizations.Part II - The horizontal axis of Strategic Manage-ment and the Strategic design decision path. From design leadership and strategic positioning to busi-ness strategy and design management to strategy in action and design.

Digital Art History (DAH), which embraces massive datasets, innovative methodologies based on computational techniques, and collaborative paradigms, promises to offer new perspectives on the history of art. For example, DAH has the potential to shift the discipline’s focus from the traditional topics of inquiry to less explored aspects of the field—in short, to reposition the discipline’s central preoccupations with the issues of patronage, which are the concerns of the elite, to broader structures at work in a society, including the experiences of the marginalized. This displacement from center to periphery is not restricted to DAH research questions, but often applies to other aspects of DAH as well: to its status within the Digital Humanities (DH); to the demographic it frequently attracts; and to the infrastructure(s) developed to support it. Yet despite this potential, in many respects DAH occupies the periphery. This essay problematizes these issues as crystallized by the establishment of a digital art history lab at a privately funded library that serves the public, and explores one instance of how DAH has forced the North American academy to reflect further on the issues of privilege, access, and the future of art history.

Efforts to increase financial inclusion and business development in the community are a synergy effort in strengthening SMEs business actors in Sidoarjo City. The active form of strengthening economic values in the community also takes place in the middle of community organizations, such as the Regional Leader of Aisyiyah Sidoarjo which has the SMEs community under its guidance. These two aspects can provide mutual benefits, where the assisted SMEs in Sidoarjo have problems with financial inclusion and the accessibility of financial technology in developing businesses due to the lack of knowledge of SMEs business actors in terms of using technology because based on the survey results there are still many SMEs who do not know about access to capital through sharia peer to peer lending schemes. This condition of inadequate understanding and ability is the background of the urgency of this program to be implemented. The purpose of this community service program is to increase the capacity of SME entrepreneurs through training in the field of financial inclusion which includes financial technology, especially peer to peer lending sharia. The method chosen in this community service activity will involve training participants to actively think, discuss, and directly practice, by: 1) organizing financial inclusion education, 2) training in financial technology accessibility practices, especially peer to peer lending sharia both from the marketing aspect. and community business financing. AbstractThe cults and ritual practices of the Sino-Thai communities of southern Thailand are a distinctive aspect of a region in which Chinese heritage has a high degree of social significance. Chinese came to the Malay Peninsula in several waves; many settlers arrived as early as the sixteenth century, and others flooded into the region to work in tin-mines and rubber plantations in the nineteenth century. Although now “Thai” in many respects, the descendants of Chinese immigrants in the south retain a distinctive identity, visibly expressed in the annual ritual cycle focused on specific rites and temples. These events provide a sense of connection to ancestral origins, but also make important statements about the contemporary position of Chinese descendants in a complex multiracial context. Tourism, both national and transnational, has played an important role in the expansion of ritual performance. During the capitalist boom years of the 1990s, elements of Chinese identity became a valued social marker in Thailand and some aspects of the southern cultural and ritual practices were adopted more widely, although most of the Sino-Thai descendants outside the south had little or no understanding of the origins or meaning of the practices. This paper examines rites performed annually in two southern Thai towns, investigating how they reflect complex negotiations of ethnic identity vis-à-vis national and regional contexts.

Field trips to museums and performing arts centers are not a frequent activity for most students, so how do cultural organizations learn to make the most of these limited but potentially valuable “gateway experiences” toward increased arts participation? This cross-sectional study examines the engagement of students during a performance at a performing arts center with data collected over three seasons of performances across art forms, grade levels, and student populations (students who attend Title I schools, English learners, and students with disabilities) under the umbrella of Positive Youth Development theory. The findings of regression analyses and analyses of variance feature three aspects that may optimize positive engagement in the arts experience for students: prior attendance to performances, lessons in the art form, and preparation prior to the performance. However, when the data is disaggregated by priority populations, not all the factors predict higher positive engagement in a statistically significant way. The feature that may have a consistent incidence across all populations, and exclusively for students with disabilities, is preparation prior to the performance. These results present practical implications for audience recruitment, accessibility supports, and learning design for diverse learners.

The mechanism of this information storage is unknown. The learning-based model described here demonstrates that a mechanism using only the dynamic activity in recurrent networks is sufficient to account for the observed phenomena. The temporal activity patterns of neurons in the model match those of real memory-associated neurons, while the model's gating properties and attractor dynamics provide explanations for puzzling aspects of the experimental data.

Starting in 1950, Korean Opera, which has a history of 73 years to date in 2023, served as an motive to pave the way for the creation of Korean opera through the “MOM Creation Contest” organized by Korea National Opera in 2009. Since then, it has been changed to the Creative Factory of Performing Arts organized by the Arts Council Korea since 2014, and new operas have been discovered every year through continuous support until 2023, and 17 new operas have been finally selected. This study examined the diversified aspects of material utilization for new operas discovered through the Creative Factory of Performing Arts, focusing on the material of the libretto, which is the first work and basic element of the creation of an opera. In order to study the material diversification of new opera selected through the Creative Factory of Performing Arts, six classification criteria were set, each of which is a genre, method of libretto, original foundation, the spatial background of work, the temporal background of work, and basic material. In addition, in order to help understand, this study also examined aspects of the diversification of materials of new operas in overseas opera theaters such as the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Italy, and France. As a part of the development of cultural contents, I hope that this study will help understand the trend of diversification through the recently discovered Korean new operas, help revitalize creation, and further promote convergent development in all fields of performing arts.

Gender equality in the political, legal, social, economic, and cultural spheres of modern Sweden is highly relevant to society. This issue affects all aspects of the country's life and is one of the most important points for understanding Swedish identity. The most equal opportunities for women and men are primarily manifested at the state and political levels. In the global media space of the last decade, great attention has been paid to the women's hashtag movement #metoo against cases of sexual harassment by men towards women. This phenomenon has had a significant impact on many aspects of life in Sweden. The susceptibility of Swedish society to gender inequality issues has also been influenced by the scientific achievements of humanities research. Scholars have made significant progress in developing gender issues. If the first works on women's topics were empirical studies that described events involving the weaker sex, then, from the second half of the 1970s historians began talking not about gender equality (jämlikhet), but about gender parity (jämställdhet). The emphasis was not on the biological difference between men and women, but on their social inequality. The new interest of scholars in studying the role of the state in different periods of the history of this country became a novelty in gender historiography in Sweden since the 1990s. It is in the field of studying gender issues in the last five decades that Swedish humanities have achieved the greatest success.

Abstract Culture is one of the most important aspects of being human alongside education. A very interesting way of approaching the issue of culture is understanding the importance of the art in everyday life. Alan Peacock, one the first pioneers of the term cultural economy, was a man of the arts who understood the importance of culture, not only in life, but in economy. Many writers in the 1960s identified some opportunities in engaging in the cultural and arts industries. As we know, cultural goods have an economic value and an artistic value. The evaluation of artistic goods or products is made only after it is consumed by clients or customers. The world of cultural services is large and forgiving with non-professionals. The use of cultural policies in today’s European Union, United States of America and Asia is very important because of the positive spillover it causes. Creating cultural policies and dedicating funds specifically for this started in the 1980s with the implication of UNESCO. Cultural policies not only help preserve cultural sites and heritage, but offers a broader strategy that envelops both cultural goods and cultural services. The cultural marketing concept refers to the art of using marketing tactics and strategies in order to promote and develop the cultural and artistic industries or sectors. The same instruments are used but the way in which they are used is very different. The performing arts sector is ever changing and it needs a new marketing mix approach to connect to new audiences. Artists need to work closely with business and management professionals in order to have the best representation off stage.

Mediatization of higher education institutions is often associated with an increase in the intensity of their presence in social media. Presence in social media implies the possibility of broadcasting the key values of the university brand, interaction with target audiences, both external and internal. Active work in social media includes taking into account the characteristics of target audiences, the specifics of their media consumption. One of the important tasks of the “university – audience” interaction is to increase the involvement of the audience, for which universities resort to gamification techniques. Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis is a text analysis technique that classifies the sentiment of a specific aspect in a text. With a rise in internet and social media access, people tend to decide to buy a product or to visit a restaurant based on comments and reviews. Categorical reviews can play a significant role in improving the business of a restaurant if a business entity can capture insights of those reviews and use productively. Since Nepali is a low resource language there is no significant numbers of the dataset for restaurant reviews. Therefore a dataset is created in the work to model a target aspect-based sentiment analysis in restaurant review domain. The dataset comprises of comments extracted from social media sites, websites, and manually prepared data. Data are cleaned, pre-processed then aspects and sentiments are extracted using POS tagging. Sentiments and target categories are classified using word embedding and the deep learning BiLSTM model. The sentiment classification model classifies the sentiments into positive or negative. The target classification model classifies text into 5 target categories Food (F), Price (P), Service (S), Hygiene (H), and Experience (E). The result was found to be good compared to similar models in other domains. The sentiment prediction model and target category prediction model attains the F1 Score of 0.88 and 0.76 respectively.

This article challenges the assumption that traditional genres of academic writing are as appropriate for practice-based students of art, drama or design as they were for book-centred disciplines, such as the humanities or sciences. It argues that scholarly writing diminished the importance of embodied and situated aspects of human ‘knowledge’ within mainstream university art school courses, such as visual and performative arts. In the traditional book-centred disciplines, scholarly writing was useful for encoding declarative knowledge (e.g. ‘knowing that’) but is less effective for the kinds of procedural knowledge (e.g. ‘knowing how’) that are vital in creative, studio-/practice-based learning. Now that academic writing is aided by technologies offering automatic spelling and grammar checks, global text search, cut-and-paste this has further widened the gaps between the knowledges pertaining to head, heart and hand. Soon, however, the combined benefits of 5G, virtual reality, artificial intelligence and ambisonic technologies look likely to make ‘immersive’ and ‘experiential’ technologies almost ubiquitous. Organizations should constantly improve their business processes to increase performance while keeping employees satisfied. Therefore, human actors are considered a success factor in business process management (BPM) projects. This fact amplifies the impact of employees’ satisfaction on business process performance. Although several reward approaches exist, it remains unclear how they affect job satisfaction specifically in combination with certain process characteristics. To address this gap, we conducted a statistical analysis of survey data based on a representative European working conditions dataset. We applied two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA, i.e., controlled for organization size and sector) to explore the interaction effects. By looking at all possible combinations, we uncover how the presence or absence of specific pay modes and process-related aspects influence job satisfaction. Additionally, we reveal and discuss the joint effect of process characteristics and pay-for-performance types on job satisfaction. The results argue for a differentiated approach in pay-for-performance to obtain optimal reward solutions. Moreover, we advise for better strategic planning and facilitating successful BPM implementation.
