Texto completo da fonteThroughout the nineteenth century and early twentieth century, Catholic community members of Roman Catholic religious orders left France to join Canada. They crossed the Atlantic Ocean to follow the call of missionary appeal, to pursue an ecclesiastical and professional career, or to save a religious vocation threatened by the anticlerical policy of the French government. This particular phenomenon, neglected in religious and migration history, fueled a transatlantic missionary migration system since the beginning of the nineteenth century. At the crossroads of several historiographical fields, this thesis addresses the study of this peculiar migratory movement, both at the collective and individual level, in order to understand the place occupied by Canada in the migratory path of French clerics between 1842 and 1914

Texto completo da fonteIn the XVIIth century, the conquering advance of Spaniards was met by resistance from territories and men in the north of New Spain. The vast septentrional reaches were then consolidated as frontier regions, as the most remote areas were barely explored, while regions located closer to settlement centers were progressively, yet precariously, integrated to monarchy. In the course of the century, missionaries, especially Franciscans and Jesuits, played a very active role in the appropriation process of border regions. As explorers, evangelists and colonizers for the King of Spain, they gradually settled in the septentrional regions. At first, it was necessary to imagine unknown reaches: California, New Mexico. Picking from a set of myths and knowledge with a dual – European and Native American – origin, the priests drew up maps and reports of the coveted areas. As time passed, representations showed increased American influence. In parallel, as integration of New Biscay progressed, the Company of Jesus articulated a network of missions with the objective to christianize – “civilize” – populations and occupy the territories that resisted conquest. The missionaries had to adapt their appropriation strategies to land characteristics. Finally, missionaries had to face difficult life conditions at the northern frontiers, and were at times disheartened in their work and lapsed into rather unorthodox behaviors from a religious point of view

Texto completo da fonteIn particular, during the first part we study the thermodynamical properties of specific black hole solutions in massive gravity. We conclude that such black hole solutions do not follow the second and third of law of thermodynamics, which may signal a problem in the model. For instance, a naked singularity may be created as a result of the evolution of a singularity-free state.
In the second part, we constrain primordial black holes as dark matter candidates. To do that, we consider the effect of primordial black holes when they interact with compact objects, such as neutron stars and white dwarfs. The idea is as follows: if a primordial black hole is captured by a compact object, then the accretion of the neutron star or white dwarf’s material into the hole is so fast that the black hole destroys the star in a very short time. Therefore, observations of long-lived compact objects impose constraints on the fraction of primordial black holes. Considering both direct capture and capture through star formation of primordial black holes by compact objects, we are able to rule out primordial black holes as the main component of dark matter under certain assumptions that are discussed.
To better understand the relevance of these subjects in modern cosmology, we begin the thesis by introducing the standard model of cosmology and its problems. We give particular emphasis to modifications of gravity, such as massive gravity, and black holes in our discussion of the dark sector of the Universe./

Texto completo da fonteIn this research we try to establish the relation that exists between material culture, symbols and representations used in the Jesuit missions in the Province of the Paraguay (or Paracuaria). Our objective is to understand, from the archaeological record, material transformations and changing perceptions between 1610 and 1767. Urban space organizes social realities and plays a key role in the transformation of environment and society. This materiality also reinforces actions and rituals as new practices and behaviors are introduced and reinforced over time. In this sense, the mission space acquires symbolic dimensions with specific narratives that serve to organise aspects of daily life within the mission structure. Located between the Spanish and Portuguese empires in South America, the Jesuit Province of the Paraguay founded in 1607 was the theatre of conflict for control of the territory. The first missions (Nuestra Señora de Loreto and San Ignacio Miní) were founded in 1610 in present day Brazil. In 1631, the sites were left due to attacks by the Bandeirantes or Portuguese slave holders of São Paulo that attempted to enslave populations of converted Guarani Amerindians. The missions were Jesuit enclaves in an embattled territory and were considered an obstacle to the expansion of the Portuguese crown in South American. In 1631, the missions were moved to temporary locations and then were relocated several times thereafter. These successive changes produced new interpretations of their world and society that we can observe in the material culture record. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we will outline transformations in the organization of mission space and material culture. This will give us a more complete vision of their internal organization. A historical perspective will allow us to establish the relationships between the subjects and their socio-political conditions in the mission settings. We will then see that certain objects played specific roles within defined contexts, which we must understand to establish their precise functions. Finally, we will analyze changes in the material culture from a phenomenological perspective, as this will allow us to deconstruct the narratives and ideologies that impregnates them. This exercise will allow us to establish what we believe to be the essential meaning of these objects and we will interpret their intentionality in transmitting notions of ideology and social practice.

Impedance control is an important research topic in human-robot interaction be-cause it can increase the safety and the variety of interactions. The thesis realizes an impedance control system by mounting a 6-axis force sensor on the wrist of the home service robot. When the robot and a person are walking hand on hand, the robot detects the handing force from the person and generates a suitable pose of its end-effector and a moving path of its mobile platform to accomplish the leading and the guiding missions. The proposed impedance control system treats the end-effector of the robot arm as a point mass with physical property and detects the force from the environment to calcu-late the next pose which it should move to. Therefore, the arm can move following the force imposed by the person. For further improving the performance, we add a fuzzy controller to real-time adjust three parameters of the impedance control system and to plan the moving direction and velocity of the robot. In this thesis, we implement the impendence control system in leading and guiding missions. In the leading mission, the person leads the robot to go through a specific path. Whereas, the robot can guide a blind person by handing on her/his hand in the guiding mission. All the real experiments demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed system and the robot successfully accom-plishes these two missions.

Ministry of Health and Welfare announcement benchmark general nursing home evaluation, the content index will "agencies have set goals or mission," as one of the evaluation project. Mission Statement of components is also in the business philosophy of evaluation mechanism, developed into an important indicator Strategies, and evaluation of the results of nursing homes, will affect the future operation of institutions. Mission Statement is a leader in business development focus to formulate strategies and integration of enterprise resource use, and explain the purpose of the organization and staff present in the forward direction, so that all members have a common goal and play a team strength. Mission statement is to organize a clear policy, based on the scope of services, as guidelines for action and strategic planning, development mission or statement of purpose of assessment measures. Therefore, this study aimed at investigate nursing home set a mission statement, mission statement content elements, performance status and quality associated with the differences. In this study, an area south of the opening of the general nursing home for the study of 66 female groups, questionnaires to local health authorities at the time of nursing home routine health check to agency heads, please fill out the department's mission statement content, total 59 samples recovered pen, consolidated agency roster of basic information, content analysis, descriptive analysis, chi-square analysis, T test and ANOVA analysis. Results A total of 316 language stem, then follow Pearce and David nine defined mission statement classification of content elements. Holsti according to the formula proposed by the average mutual consent degree was 0.73, reliability was 0.89. Studies have shown that organizations have set up web pages 89.8%, 64.4% have stated mission statement; elements have written mission statement for the company's philosophy and the proportion of the top three services each (94.9%), self-awareness (74.6%), technology (69.5%). Institutional goals or mission statements are parts of the accreditation criteria for nursing homes. If nursing homes can not achive the accreditation criteria that will affect their sustainable development of reelizing future. Therefore, the clarity level of mission statement components can make staff to understand the business objective and the scope of business. The measurable mission statements can offer strategic planning, action guilde, and develop criteria measurement. The agreement level of Mission statements rationales, clearity level of mission statement content, mission statement satisfaction, organizational alignment influence all can affect organizational quality and performance in health care institutions. This research aim to explore the causal path among agreement level of Mission statements rationales, clearity level of mission statement content, mission statement satisfaction, organizational alignment influence with organizational performance satisfaction. This research uses a mailed questionnaire survey method to collect relevant data. Questionnaire surveys were sent out to the heads of operations of 346 nursing homes nationwide during the period between April and June 2009 and, after calling twice to urge the return of the questionnaires, a total of 118 questionnaires were returned, which gave a return rate of 34.1%. Results of the survey goodness-of-fit show that the region, the nursing homes seniority, and the bed size are similar with population. The cronbach’α all are greater than 0.8, and content validity index is greater than 0.9. After that, using the analysis for descriptive statistic analysis, correlation analysis, factor analysis, independent sample T test, one-way ANOVA analysis, multiple resression, partial least squares to explore the relationship among agreement level of Mission statements rationales, clearity level of mission statement content, mission statement satisfaction, organizational alignment influence with organizational performance satisfaction. The study results are as below: 1. Correlation analysis: agreement level of Mission statements rationales, clearity level of mission statement content, mission statement satisfaction, organizational alignment influence have postive relationship with organizational performance satisfaction. After factor analysis clearity level of mission statement content were separate for two deminsion, called “ends” and “means”, it’s will effect organizational performance satisfaction postivly. 2. Independent sample T test and one-way ANOVA analysis: agreement level of Mission statements rationales was significantly different with agency management style and seniority of nursing homes. (1)The clearity levels of mission statement content-end was significantly different with agency management styles. (2)Mission statement satisfactions was significantly different with education levels and seniority of the heads of operations. 3.Multiple regression:The clearity levels of mission statement content-end (ß=0.270,p=0.014), mission statement satisfaction(ß=0.551,p=0.000) can affect organizational performance satisfaction, with total variance explained 29.8%. 4. Partial Least Squares: We construct agreement level of Mission statements rationales, clearity level of mission statement content, mission statement satisfaction, organizational alignment influence with organizational performance satisfaction of the causal path model. The composite reliability(CR) are greater than 0.7,Average Variance Extracted(AVE) are greater than 0.5, showing our model with good reliability and validity. Besides, (1)the heads of operations’s agreement level of Mission statements rationales can through clearity level of mission statement content-end and mission statement satisfaction to postively affect organizational performance satisfaction; (2)the heads of operations’s agreement level of Mission statements rationales also can through clearity level of mission statement content-end to postively affect organizational alignment influence. To improve organizational performance satisfaction (average occupancy rate, market share, growth rates of resident coming, quality management) should strengthen the development of mission statement of the reasons for motivation, and increase the factors clearity level of mission statement-ends and mission statement satisfaction; and wishing to increase of the mission statement and the degree of organization and management linkages, they should also strengthen the grounds for the development of the motivation of a mission statement, and promote the mission statement of the clarity of the purpose of elements.

Texto completo da fonteAs a regionally-led church-body the German Seventh-day Adventist church (SDA) has nonetheless the unanimously agreed goal of spreading the gospel in the whole republic. The different regional administrative bodies however, have not consistently or nationally documented their evangelistic efforts. It is therefore the aim of this study to understand the theology of SDA mission between 1992 and 2005. Commencing in 1875, with the first overseas missionary's arrival, the mission theology of the German SDA-Church will be roughly sketched through 1990. The following enquiry deals primarily with the various levels of SDA-leadership, with Adventist print media, institutional work and special mission-conceived events. Generally, statements concerning missiology will be studied with regard to their content and meaning. In particular cases quantitative data will be considered and evaluated. This will lead to fundamental data, apt to answer the following questions: - How do Adventists define the term mission? - Do German Adventists dispose of missionary concepts or an overarching mission strategy? - Do they take up the challenge of self-reflection concerning their mission in order to enhance success? The individual objects and questions studied in this thesis are structured to be evaluated at the end of each chapter. Questions raised will be attempted to be answered satisfactorily. The result of this study is the unveiling of several strengths and weaknesses of the Adventist understanding of mission in Germany. It is therefore the goal of this study to enhance further discussion by pointing to relevant facts. Initial starting points could be seen in the conclusions drawn, thereby rendering mission efforts of the German SDA church more effective.

Texto completo da fonteThis dissertation explores the history of the Assemblies of God's Home Missions to American Indians, the development of an American Indian leadership in the denomination and the development of a Pentecostal Indian identity. The history that is told in this work is that of a century-long struggle by American Indian Pentecostals for autonomy, leadership, and recognition within the Assemblies of God. I argue that the AG's efforts to establish indigenous churches in its home missions work to American Indians bore two important and largely unanticipated consequences. The first was that it prompted American Indian Pentecostals to forge a new identity: fully Indian and fully Pentecostal. The second was that it forced white Pentecostals to own up to their belief in the indigenous principle: that God's Spirit fell equally on peoples, without regard to ethnicity or social standing. I focus mainly on giving voice to the Pentecostal Indian actors in this history, in order to fill in the gaps on a group of modern Pentecostal believers that were almost never written about in the histories of the movement.
I have rooted this work in the history of American religious history, as well as Native American history and the history of American Pentecostalism. The majority of the sources come from the Assemblies of God's archives, chiefly, ministerial files, Pentecostal periodicals, letters, tracts, meeting minutes, and self-published autobiographies.

Home care is a job that requires patience and love. Home care attendants often be required to increase the labor of non-working areas during the service process, but to accomodate the needs of the family. Therefore, they are willing to accept the low salary, poor welfare, and work with blurred content, a wide range of work, and a lack of peer-to-peer connections. The fit will be affected by the consistency of characteristics and values by employees and organizations. Employees also have an impact on the importance of organizational characteristics and values. Whether or not the mission statement is clearly written will affect the employee's job satisfaction and job performance. There is less research on the personal and organizational values of the home care attendant to discuss it. The study explored the relationship between mission statement and person-organizational fit with organizational behavior of home care attendant and constructing impact models. Obtained the consent of the 3 home service agencies in the south. During the survey period, from September to November, the questionnaire was issued during the regular monthly home care attendant meeting. 142 home care attendants were collected for research, and 134 questionnaires were collected, 125 data samples were valid and the effective questionnaire collection rate was 93.3%. Descriptive analysis, single factor analysis, and T-test, Pearson correlation analysis, and complex regression analysis. The results show that person and organizational fit, job satisfaction, and job performance have an impact on organizational characteristics. Person and organization fit is significantly positively correlated with job satisfaction and job performance; the clarity of the mission statement is significantly positively correlated with job satisfaction and job performance. Regression analysis found that the satisfaction of the supervisor and the rewards will have a positive impact on the clarity of the mission statement of the means, but it will have a negative impact on the work content due to environmental changes; the satisfaction of the work itself will have a positive impact on the mission statement of the means clarity; the satisfaction of achievement and promotion will have a positive impact on the mission statement of competition and unique goals; the contextual performance of supporting the organization's goals and insist on completing the task will have a positive impact on the mission statement of the means clarity; the contextual performance of cooperation and helping others will have a positive impact on age. It is recommended that institutional managers and employees should establish communication channels and education training, timely understand the living conditions and working conditions of employees, and conduct on-the-job training. In addition, the mission statement is clearly categorized and written, and the awareness of the mission statement issues is enhanced to more effectively achieve the fit of individual and organizational values, thereby improving organizational performance and employee job satisfaction.

Texto completo da fonteThe use of ubiquitous computing to help firefighters in the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) missions, has been studied in the Cooperation between Human and rObotic teams in catastroPhic INcidents (CHOPIN) project, with the aim of exploring cooperation between human and robotic teams in the context of these missions, decentralizing some decisions so that they can be made closer to the place to which they relate, based on existing information. In this context, this dissertation presents an architecture for the USAR mission system and develops an interface for the Command Center of Operations (”Centro de Comando de Opera¸c˜oes”) (CCO), integrating the context-aware software platform with the required tools for planning and monitoring USAR missions, leaving the detection and interpretation of data to other computing entities on the ground, thus enhancing situational awareness and establishing a common ground to support decision making of the tactical actors. The interface is developed by addressing interaction design techniques to fulfill situationawareness and human-robot interaction requirements, in order to support collaboration between human and robotic teams, thus proposing a message taxonomy to provide information interchange among agents, displaying and registering the collected data on the ground by individual agents, such as maps, locations and status of several features as victims and fire outbreaks, as well as environmental conditions in the Theatre of Operations (”Teatro de Opera¸c˜oes”) (TO) in a relational database. The overview of the operations on the ground is presented using the services provided by the Google Maps Application Programming Interface (API), allowing an overall picture of the TO, existing resources and the state of the mission. The sharing of information between the CCO and agents on the ground is made via a bidirectional and asynchronous WebSocket, and is based on the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework and a pre-defined set of messages to share information cooperatively by firefighters and robotic agents to fulfill the mission, using the format JavaScript Object Notation (JSON). The compression of transmitted information proved critical to communications with limited bandwidth and high traffic volumes, usually found in USAR scenarios.

This thesis mainly implements human following function for home service robot, May, developed in our laboratory. In order to follow the operator accurately, visual tracking is composed by Tracking-Learning-Detection (TLD) and Kinect skeleton, where TLD plays the role as re-detecting the situation that operator is occluded or disappeared, and Kinect skeleton is adopted to track all other situations while TLD is learning how to enlarge operator image patterns in order to enhance recognition rates. For the sake of improving tracking capability, fuzzy head motion control is added in the visual tracking system to compensate the constraints that the mobile platform of May cannot react rapidly. Every instant movement of the operator can be captured by fuzzy head motion control in real time. Q-learning is applied to discover the pose switching of the mobile platform such that May possesses more robust following ability. By Q-learning, states setting are based on three dimensional position, actions are created by the pose of four wheel independent steering and four wheel independent driven (4WIS4WID) platform, and rewards are established on state transitions. Finally, both the experimental results in the laboratory and competition consequents of Follow Me Mission in robot@home league at RoboCup Japan Open 2013 Tokyo demonstrate that our robot May can fluently switch its poses to follow operator by utilizing the proposed schemes.
