This type of research is evaluative with a descriptive qualitative method using the CIPP model. The population of this study was 15 students involved, five work of world instructors, 21 teacher councils, and the headmaster of VHS of 1 Rejotangan. Data collection techniques use interviews and observations. Interviews are conducted openly and behind closed doors. The interview was conducted with the headmaster of VHS of 1 Rejotangan. The observations made by the researchers aimed to capture data on pre-employment activities, sincerity, and cooperation of participants and instructors during the activity. The results of this study are (1) synchronization of the joint curriculum to the world of work at the evaluation stage of the context of the VKS of 1 Rejotangan industrial practice program. At this stage, (1) the signing of an MOU between the world of work schools, a student readiness plan (competency mapping), and a placement plan (world of work Placement Mapping); (2) input evaluation obtained information that a cooperative organization was formed. The cooperative organization between schools and the business world and industry in the industrial practice program has two aspects: departmentalization and division of labor. The division of labor comprises principals and teachers from the business/industrial world. Meanwhile, departmentalization consists of mapping students. Place students in existing competencies and an appropriate world of work; (3) process evaluation, a collaboration between schools and the world of work for student development, is flexible and consistent with each school's policies; (4) product evaluation. The internship program has many benefits for schools and the world of work.

Immersion is implemented in different countries all over the world as part of curricular training. Immersion programs started in other countries many years back. However, the Philippines only started three years ago as a program for students' engagement in employment simulation. Since the start of the program, there were emerging issues in the insufficiency of documents to establish its extent of implementation. Hence, the paper assessed the extent of implementation of senior high school work immersion program in selected public schools in the Division of Negros Occidental during the school year 2019-2020 according to the category of school, school location, and designation of implementer in the areas of Curriculum Implementation and Compliance, Work Immersion Delivery Process, Assessment of Student's Progress, Supervision of Work Immersion and Implementation, and Administrative Concerns. Likewise, it identifies the challenges encountered by the implementers and their recommendations in the effective implementation of the immersion program.

By offering information, counseling, and tutoring, college outreach programs attempt to smooth the path between high school and higher education for at-risk students. But do these program work? This paper uses longitudinal data from the Education Longitudinal Study to construct two quasi-experiments to assess the effectiveness of college outreach. The first compares outreach program participants with a propensity score matched sample of program non-participants to measure the effects of targeted college outreach programs. The second assesses the effects of school-wide college outreach programs by comparing students in school-wide outreach high schools with students in a matched sample of high schools that offer no formal outreach. The results suggest that targeted outreach programs do little to change the educational experiences of participating students. However, there is limited evidence to suggest that school-wide outreach programs may have modest “spill-over” effects, improving the educational outcomes of relatively unengaged students at participating schools.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to describe the program structure and design considerations of a 25-day, full-time apprenticeship in a university-based principal preparation program. Design/methodology/approach The study used a qualitative case study design that drew upon interviews and focus groups with program participants as well as program-related documents. Qualitative data analysis was completed using ATLAS.ti. Findings The analysis suggests that the apprenticeship had three specific design features that were intended to support the apprentice’s development for turnaround leadership. These included locating the apprenticeship experience in a turnaround school setting; focusing the apprenticeship on district structures and procedures; and situating the apprentice’s work within the district’s approved improvement process. Research limitations/implications The study was limited in that recurring, on-site observations of apprenticeship activities were not possible. The study has implications for principal preparation programs related to the design of fieldwork experiences, as well as for educational scholars seeking to study the impact of fieldwork on principal efficacy. Originality/value The study contributes to the broader discussion of effective fieldwork experiences for aspiring school leaders, particularly when specific conceptions of leadership are infused within program designs.

This study is intended to describe and evaluate the implementation of high school in selected schools for the 2016-2018 academic years. Specifically, it found answers on the description of the schools; the evaluation of the pedagogical competencies of the teachers; the evaluation of the work habits, values, and skills of the students; the problems encountered, and the possible contributions to improve the program. A specifically convergent mixed method was used in parallel. The results show that the selected schools offer TVL, HUMSS, and ABM. They have an average of two hundred students or less. Most of their faculty members are with MA units. They observed the Department of Education's policies on admission, retention, and promotion. The dimensions of teaching competencies are considered effective to highly effective, while students' work habits, values, and skills are assessed as highly developed. Problems identified related to the adequacy of teaching materials, lack of stakeholder support, student performance, and the need for specialized teachers. Therefore, it is recommended to improve school facilities, hire teachers for specialized teachers, strengthen partnerships with the business industry, and train teachers in the latest teaching trends, as well as in technology, to make students globally competitive.

The purpose of the study was to examine the quality of high school programs for students with autism spectrum disorder in the United States. The Autism Program Environment Rating Scale–Middle/High School was used to rate the quality of programs for students with autism spectrum disorder in 60 high schools located in three geographic locations in the United States (CA, NC, and WI). Findings indicated that the total quality rating across schools was slightly above the adequate criterion. Higher quality ratings occurred for program environment, learning climate, family participation, and teaming domains. However, quality ratings for intervention domains related to the characteristics of autism spectrum disorder (e.g. communication, social, independence, functional behavior, and transition) were below the adequate quality rating level. Also, quality ratings for transition were significantly higher for modified (primarily self-contained) programs than standard diploma (primarily served in general education) programs. School urbanicity was a significant predictor of program quality, with suburban schools having higher quality ratings than urban or rural schools, controlling for race, school enrollment size, and Title 1 eligibility status. Implications for working with teachers and school teams that support high school students with autism spectrum disorder should include a targeted focus on transition programming that includes a breadth of work-based learning experiences and activities that support social-communication domains.

Schools in Indonesia have been conducted environmental education programs through both curriculum activities and schools’ environmental programs. However, there was no sufficient data about the effectiveness of the programs. This study aims to identify the junior high school students’ caring attitudes to the wetland environment (CATWE) as the education outcome. The Six Junior High Schools were chosen as probability sampling areas classified as urban, central, and rural areas schools of Banjar District with total samples of 354 students aged 12-14 years. The CATWE data were collected using a valid and reliable questionnaire. This study found that most of the students care for the wetland environment. There were no differences in the CATWE of the three school areas. These findings indicate that the school area and the level of the “Adiwiyata” program were not the primary determining variable of environmental caring attitude education effectiveness. The highest score of the CATWE indicator was responsible; meanwhile, the lowest was hard work. Even though all the indicators have reached a care category. It is necessary to thoroughly investigate the effectiveness of the school environmental program “Adiwiyata,” outside classroom activity, and family role in environmental education.

Abstract College students in disciplines that might provide services or work with older adults, such as medicine or social work, are usually the target of most educational programs on aging. High schools provide an untapped opportunity to engage students earlier. This project is the next step following a pilot study conducted in New Jersey and Kentucky to better understand high school students’ attitudes and knowledge regarding aging. That study also reviewed current high school curriculum for aging-specific content and perceived barriers among teachers to incorporating aging education into the curriculum (Davis & Sokan, 2019). Study findings indicate inter alia, a need to educate high school students about aging, increase interactions among older and younger adults, incorporate education about careers on aging, and educate teachers on how to infuse more aging content into their courses. To that end, this project’s goal was to develop both a training module and educational program on aging for high school students. Also, we propose a plan to develop, implement, and evaluate both the training module and the educational programs. We hypothesize that the training module will increase high school teachers’ confidence in their ability to teach their students about aging. The educational program’s delivery will increase students’ knowledge of aging-related issues and awareness about careers in aging. Upon completing the project, we will use feedback from students and teachers to revise the educational program, for implementation among a larger sample of high schools.

AbstractMindMatters Plus (MM+) is a program that focuses on building the capacity of secondary schools to meet the needs of students who have high support needs in the area of mental health. A necessity to supplement this work with specific strategies and processes allied to the delivery of mental health programs in secondary schools was identified. Effective school case management was one key strategy of MM+ that subsequently was targeted for further identification and development. To this end, the Australian Guidance and Counselling Association was commissioned to produce a resource on effective school case management for staff who work with secondary school students who have high support needs in the area of mental health. This article briefly describes the School Case Management Project that was established to achieve this aim, and presents a work-in-progress framework of the principles, definition, aims and strategies of effective school case management. This framework is the basis upon which the resource, a tool kit designed to appraise and improve the quality of a school's case management practices, is currently being developed. The project is due for completion by the end of October 2005.

Background School leaders are challenged by the relatively limited supply and high turnover of qualified secondary school mathematics teachers. In response, policy makers and teacher educators have developed various pathways and incentives to recruit, train, place, and support highly qualified mathematics teachers to work in hard-to-staff schools. Focus of Study In this study, we investigate the recruitment, placement, and early career trajectories of 158 Grades 6–12 mathematics teachers from two preparation programs focused on staffing “high-need” schools in the same region. Setting The contrasting programs were both supported by the same university in the Northeast United States. Participants & Programs The participants were 158 secondary school (Grades 6–12) mathematics teachers. Of these, 48 were recruited and prepared through a teacher education program with financial support from the National Science Foundation-funded Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program. The other 110 school mathematics teachers were recruited and trained through the Greater Boston office of Teach For America. Both programs required two years of service in high-need schools. Research Design In this study, we used a comparative design. Descriptive profiles of teachers from each program were created. Then, participants’ early career trajectories were compared using logistic regression and survival analysis. Data Collection and Analysis We administered a longitudinal survey and created a database combining survey data and each program's administrative data. Conclusions Our data illustrate that the Noyce scholarship-supported pathway was generally successful in recruiting individuals with STEM majors, training them to be mathematics teachers, and placing those individuals as secondary school mathematics teachers in high-need schools. The comparison of the scholarship-pathway teachers with the secondary school mathematics teachers in the alternative-certification pathway provides a useful contrast. On the one hand, the alternatively certified secondary school mathematics teachers were less likely than the scholarship-pathway teachers to have STEM majors, and the attrition rate for the alternatively prepared teachers was higher than the attrition rate for the scholarship-supported teachers, particularly after they had completed the two-year service requirement. On the other hand, the alternative-certification program recruited a more diverse pool of potential teachers and placed these teachers in schools serving a higher proportion of low-SES students.

Background Promise scholarship programs designed to increase college access and success are proliferating across the country. However, little research has investigated how such programs are implemented or how differences in program design, such as the inclusion of merit requirements, could affect the success of these initiatives. Project/Research Design This study is part of a randomized control trial examining outcomes of the Degree Project (TDP), a $12,000 promise scholarship for students in a Midwestern urban school district. TDP was designed with GPA and attendance merit requirements in order to understand the impact of a targeted scholarship design. Purpose We set out to understand how school staff tasked with implementing the Degree Project scholarship made sense of the program, its merit requirements, and data on students meeting those requirements and how this sensemaking may have affected the attitudes and actions of staff in ways that could alter the impact of the program on students. Data collection/Analysis Over the first two program years, we conducted interviews in over 90% of treatment schools (year 1 N = 17; year 2 N = 15). Using theories of sensemaking and attribution, we analyzed how staff used data from the merit requirements as evidence to frame the program as a success or failure. Findings We find that some school staff used data on the number of students still on track for the scholarship as evidence that TDP was succeeding or—more often—failing. Moreover, they mainly attributed this success or failure to characteristics of the students themselves and rarely to their own work practice. Staff who saw the program as failing were in schools that already had lower academic achievement, and there is evidence that they took fewer actions to support student access to TDP than did staff in higher-performing schools. Conclusions These findings raise concerns that staff sensemaking around TDP may be reinforcing low expectations of students and deficit discourses of youth from low-wealth communities of color, as well as stratification of access to college-related support. Additionally, it raises important implementation and equity concerns about both promise programs’ use of merit requirements and data use in schools in general.

The implementation of active learning in junior high schools, particularly on how students respond to it is interesting to examine. The active learning program is extensively implemented in randomly selected seven provinces, at state schools in Indonesia. This research aims to investigate the implementation of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) active learning in classroom settings and to identify how the implementation is perceived by the students. To examine the implementation, 12 classroom observations at 8 purposely selected schools were carried out. Meanwhile, to identify how the implementation was perceived by the students, a number of students were interviewed, and 12 field notes were confirmed for validation. After the data were intensively analyzed, it was found that (1) active learning was evident in most classrooms in which group work was selected as the main learning strategy; (2) strategies were employed to perform different tasks and activities within ELT (English Language Teaching) sequences; and (3) most students positively responded the implementation of active learning with some suggestion for better implementation. This research recommends that the active learning approach be implemented in EFL classrooms since it potentially promotes skills other than English language skills.

In this thought experiment, we explore how to make access to individualized instruction and academic mentoring more equitable by taking tutoring to scale as a permanent feature of the U.S. public education system. We first synthesize the tutoring and mentoring literature and characterize the landscape of existing tutoring programs. We then outline a blueprint for integrating federally funded and locally delivered tutoring into the school day. High school students would serve as tutors/mentors in elementary schools via an elective class, college students in middle schools via federal work-study, and 2- and 4-year college graduates in high schools via AmeriCorps. We envision an incremental, demand-driven expansion process with priority given to high-needs schools. Our blueprint highlights a range of design tradeoffs, implementation challenges, and program costs. We estimate that targeted approaches to scaling school-wide tutoring nationally, such as focusing on K–8 Title I schools, would cost between $5 and $16 billion annually.

Background: The study presents a methodology for the hygienic assessment of school educational programs from the point of view of safety for the health of students and of effectiveness in improving the quality of education. The aim of the study was a hygienic assessment of educational programs in primary schools. Methods and Results: The study involved primary school students (n=245) aged between 8 and 9.5 years: 120 children studying under the “Planet of knowledge” program (Group 1) and 125 children studying under the “Primary school of the XXI century” program (Group 2). The hygienic factors are studied using the methodology of assessing the intensity of educational work and the conditions of the organization of the educational process. The obtained data are compared with the main criteria of the state of children’s neuropsychological development. We found that the program “Primary school of the XXI century” is characterized by the intensity of educational work (2.7±0.13 points) and approaches to the third degree, according to the criterion of intellectual loads. In contrast, the program “Planet of knowledge” is characterized by a lower intensity of educational work – 2.1±0.08 points (P=0.000) . The indicators of sensory and emotional intensity of educational work under the program “Primary school of the XXI century” were also statistically higher. Conclusions: - The high intensity of educational work does not ensure high rates and levels of intellectual development and mental performance of children. - The hygienic assessment of children’s educational activities should include a comprehensive hygienic examination of the educational program and the means used in the process of its implementation. - An educational program may be allowed to be used in educational organizations only after a hygienic examination of its application in the educational process.

This article (study) was summarized as a reflection of writers experiences in conducting Community Service program among teachers of SMAN 1 and SMAN 4 in Solok Selatan Regency. This study was inspired by various conditions that indicated the decline in professionalism of teachers in various schools in Solok Selatan Regency. This issue was, among others, reflected in the low quality and competence of teachers in creating scientific work. As one of the educational actors in schools, every teacher should have the ability to develop their career and professionalism through the creation of scientific work. Therefore the roles and responsibilities of teachers are highly required to be able to create scientific work. The teacher's ability to create scientific work will greatly determine the success of the teacher in their career and at the same time it would determine the quality of education as a whole. Based on this condition, various career development policies and programs and teacher professionalism were needed, among others, in the form of increasing capacity in creating scientific works for high school teachers in Solok Selatan Regency. These career development activities and programs and teacher professionalism needed to be conducted collaboratively and synergistically between the local government, schools, universities, and the Education Quality Assurance Agency (LPMP).

The research technique is a mix of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. The qualitative technique develops a basic list of success characteristics using meta-ethnography, whereas the quantitative approach defines the link between the variables under examination by establishing or building many latent variables that explain the relationship between variables using Aiken's formula and SPSS version 26. The study's findings demonstrate the success of the 8+i link and match model between Muhammadiyah 1 Ciputat vocational high school/Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) Muhammadiyah 1 Ciputat and industry in generating efficiency and mutual benefits for both parties, not just ordinary collaboration, but intense collaboration from the curriculum development, learning, and industrial work practices designed collaboratively. The Implication of the 8+i link and match model if correctly implemented is that the industry will profit because the training expenses is reduced, and vocational high schools will benefit because their graduates is absorbed by the industry. Recommendations for the vocational high school curriculum must include schools, and industry, also Teaching personnel must include practitioners from industry as well as instructors from schools.

In this article, Kathryn Snider critiques the Toronto Board of Education's Triangle Program, a program designed for lesbian and gay youth who are at risk of dropping out of high school. She questions whether this program, which provides support for students coping with issues of sexual identity, can really work for lesbian and gay youth of color unless it also includes strategies that acknowledge how issues of sexual orientation interact with issues of racial identity. She locates this critique within the larger context of the Board's approach to multiculturalism and diversity in the schools. Rather than implementing a program that further marginalizes and isolates lesbian and gay students by removing them from mainstream education, Snider suggests, schools must make fundamental changes that work to eliminate racism and homophobia within the dominant educational structure.

Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is data analysis technique according to Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification. Evaluation of the Adiwiyata program at State Junior High School 23 Palembang focused on using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation. Supporting factors for the Adiwiyata program at 23 Palembang Junior High School, namely 1) a large schoolyard for planting and gardening; 2) the presence of ornamental plants; 3) availability of water channels; 4) availability of waste bank; 5) greenhouse; 6) the presence of a clean water tank; 7) schoolyard using paving blocks; 8) budget funds from the government for the Adiwiyata program; and 9) school residents work together. The factor that hinders the implementation of the Adiwiyata program at SMPN 23 Palembang is the COVID-19 pandemic, where students cannot participate in the Adiwiyata program activities at their schools. In addition, students lack awareness of the environment, so teachers must provide education and socialization to them about Adiwiyata to create healthy schools that care about the environment.

The article is devoted to the problem of improving the process of sports training of high jumpers at the age of 18–19 years by correcting and detailing individual sections of the state athletics training program for sports schools, and Higher Schools of Sportsmanship. The material presented in the article is based on the study and analysis of regulatory documents, publications and scientific literature and allows us to conclude that the regulatory programatic supply of the high jumpers training and training process needs to be updated and corrected. This statement is supported by the results of a statistical study on the qualification level of Ukrainian studentjumpers conducted by the authors. The results of the questioning of Ukrainian track and field coaches also show the lack of demand for the Program, the need for its revision and detailing. A significant drawback of the Program is the generalized nature of the recommended training loads, which are the approximate total annual volumes of training work, without detailing their distribution among training periods and mesocycles. Presented article contains the author's version of the distribution of the training loads of high-jumpers of junior age proposed by the Program among the structural elements of the annual macrocycle training. English is included implicitly in four basic activities: ocean conservation, open class for kids, environmental workshop day with eco-ambassadors from high schools, and supporting local teachers through seminar and workshop to create fun English learning at schools. The volunteers use methods of teaching through arts, music, dance, storytelling, and other ways to share knowledge and integrate soft skills into the practical learning. However, there are some obstacles appeared during the program, such as: the children’ anxiety in communicating using English language, distrust from the public schools that need effort to make them believe to the programs, distrust from the society because of the native speakers volunteer, time management in conducting parallel activity for the students in private schools.

This study aims to determine the factors that influence employment absorption of vocational high school (SMK) graduates. This research is a case study in three Vocational Schools with a sample of 120 people from 11-12th grade students. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire and analyzed with the help of the Lisrel 8.80 program. This study found that the School Management (SM) and Industrial Environment (IE) variables had a positive effect on the Teaching Factory (TF) variable. Furthermore, all three variables (SM, IE, and TF) have a positive effect on the absorption variable of vocational high school graduates (ALV). Even the SM and IE variables have a greater positive effect than TF on the ALV variable. This means that the Tefa (TF) program still does not support graduates in getting jobs, especially because it is more directed towards low skills and unable to meet DUDI needs for middle and highs level competencies. It is recommended that the government needs to authorize schools to develop education in accordance with environmental condition potential, increase cooperation between schools - local governments - DUDI, enhance Tefa learning which refers to developing secondary and high skills to meet competencies according to the needs of the world of work by developing curricula and work practices together.

This article describes the development, implementation, and evaluation of the transdisciplinary “Successful Pathways to Employment for youth at Risk” (SUPER) program to raise the transition readiness of youth at risk (YAR) from school into participation in adults’ responsibilities and employment. More than 10% of adolescents are at risk of dropping out of school following poor academic attainments. Schools appraise academic merit but do not develop relevant educational programs to prepare youth to transition into adult working life. The SUPER program addresses a range of knowledge and skills required for this transition. Sixty YAR from three high schools participated in the 18-week SUPER program. Comparing the pre- and postintervention results revealed that the students’ engagement with responsibilities, objective knowledge about the work world, and self-rated self-advocacy skills improved as did their supervisor-rated work performance capacity. This study confirms the contribution of the SUPER model. Its concepts, tools, principles, and community labor-market involvement through workplace internships were effective and could apply in other contexts. The SUPER model provides evidence-based knowledge translation that can bring conceptual and practical changes towards successful transition and participation of YAR in adult working roles.

Planning to improve the quality of graduates is the obligation of educational institutions, especially schools as an effort to realize the ideals of national education. Improving the quality of graduates in schools is usually carried out through the policy of the school principal who acts as a leader who mobilizes the school community to realize the school's vision, mission, goals and objectives through programs that are implemented in a planned and gradual manner. The goal to be achieved from quality improvement planning is produce quality graduates to prepare graduates to face their future. The preparation of quality improvement plans in schools is usually carried out in two stages, namely: preparation of a work program and preparation of a curriculum. This article aims to analyze plans to improve the quality of graduates along with their derivative discussions carried out by schools. This study uses library research methods. The findings of this article are that planning to improve the quality of graduates in schools is still oriented towards quantity and has not yet touched the quality dimension. The quality of graduates is only measured through numbers such as report cards, test scores, and the number of students who pass. The dimensions of quality as mandated in the law such as creative, responsible, independent and so on must also be considered. With regard to the increasingly high demands and competition in the world of work, this cannot be answered without solid personality qualities. One of the main personality qualities is creativity.
