Texto completo da fonteL'élaboration de films minces du système Ge-(Ga)-Sb-S, préparés par pulvérisation cathodique et ablation laser, a été décrite. L'obtention de couches minces avec de hautes qualités morphologiques, structurales et optiques a été vérifiée par MEB, AFM, Raman, m-lines, champ proche, ... Notre choix s'est porté sur la gravure physique pour obtenir des guides canaux, les pertes optiques mesurées donnent des valeurs encourageantes entre 0,6 et 1 dB/cm. Ces résultats ouvrent la voie à des applications ciblées de type capteur, par exemple, pour lesquelles l'intégration sous forme planaire répondrait aux besoins de miniaturisation ou de robustesse.
Des fibres optiques appartenant au système Te-As-Se ont été réalisées. L'efficacité de ces fibres pour la spectroscopie infrarouge par onde évanescente a été montrée dans la région 2-12 µm et validée par son utilisation dans différentes applications. Dans le domaine de l'agro-alimentaire, le but était de détecter la présence de germes pathogènes (salmonelle, listéria, staphylocoque doré) dans des matrices alimentaires et de différencier les germes entre eux. Cette discrimination a été rendue possible par la mise au point de méthodes d'analyses statistiques, tirant le meilleur parti des spectres. Ces méthodes d'analyses ont aussi permis de mettre en évidence des modifications métaboliques pour des pathologies hépatiques (cirrhose alcoolique, hémochromatose saturée et désaturée et hépatosidérose dysmétabolique). Cette étude a été menée en collaboration avec le CHU et l'UMR 522 de l'INSERM de Rennes.
Les verres de chalcogénures se sont également révélés utiles pour mettre en œuvre des expériences de résonance plasmonique de surface (SPR). En collaboration avec l'IFREMER, la réalisation de prismes en verres de sulfures a été montrée et des résultats préliminaires sur la détection de l'accroche spécifique d'une toxine à la surface du prisme ont été obtenus.

Texto completo da fonteThis work evaluates the role of the trophic relationships in fish assemblages as a structuring factor in an estuarine ecosystem. Thus, the trophic relationships of the 14 main fish species of the Gironde estuary are described in relation with space, time, size class, via the stomach content analysis. This approach highlighted the high diversity of specific feeding behaviours and, excepted for the mullet, a predominance of the temporal component in feeding variability. Stable isotopic analysis (carbon and nitrogen) was used to evaluate their investigative contributions to the understanding of the structure and the functioning of the estuarine trophic relationships. This work shows that this tool is not able to determine precisely the trophic levels and the relationships between a fish and its preys in such ecosystems. Thus, it can not replace the traditional method of stomach content analysis. In addition, in order to describe trophic seasonal structures, to suggest hypothesis and to identify component keys of preys, the trophic guilds were built from the temporal analysis. The variability of the fish assemblages is well structured by the seasonal dynamics of the prey communities. This observation suggests a "e;bottom-up"e; control of the trophic web. We finally propose a new tool enabling the description of the fish structure and the functioning of the trophic webs through accurate trophic guilds. These trophic guilds should be utilised in other transitional water ecosystems

In developed countries, food abundance has contributed to the development of an "obesogenic" environment by encouraging overconsumption. Thus, promoting healthy food choices is a major public health issue. The objective of this thesis was to provide an epidemiological approach to food choices during grocery shopping and home meal preparation of food. This work was performed on the NutriNet-Santé population, which is a large web-based prospective observational cohort of French adults.During grocery shopping, front-of-pack nutrition labels were evaluated as potential tools to guide consumers in their choices. Four logos were compared: the Guideline Daily Amounts, the Multiple Traffic Light, the simple Pick the Tick label and 5-color nutrition label. Among these labels, the 5-color nutrition label was perceived as the easiest to identify, and that requiring the least effort to understand. It was the most effective in increasing the capacity of individuals to rank three products based on their nutritional quality. Finally, in a situation of simulated online grocery shopping, this label was the one that allowed the most important increase in the nutritional quality of the shopping cart as compared to a situation without label.During home meal preparation, a first objective was to uncover all the determinants involved in food choices, since this topic remains little studied in the literature. Five motives of dish choice were identified: healthy diet, constraints, pleasure, specific diets and organization. Giving importance to a healthy diet was associated with a better nutritional quality of food, and to lower odds of being overweight. The importance attached to specific diet motive was also associated with better diet quality food but lower odds of being overweight. Despite significant associations for other motives, the observed effects were relatively small. These results underscore the importance of promoting healthy food choices when preparing meals.Planning meal, in other words deciding ahead the foods that will be eaten in the next few days, was also evaluated. Overall, individuals who planned their meals were more likely to comply with nutritional guidelines and had a more varied diet, although the results in terms of energy intake and food groups showed limited differences. They were also less likely to be obese (and overweight in women).All these results suggest the interest of providing tools (nutrition labels, tools providing assistance for decision-making when preparing meals, as well as for meal planning) to guide individuals in their food choices and thereby improving the quality of their diet

Exploratory qualitative analysis of food and nutritional content of blogs run by Quebec mothers in order to identify the relative importance of life course events and experiences, source of influences, and personal food system on their food choices. Methods. Content analysis conducted using the conceptual model by Sobal and Bisogni. NVivo software was used to codify all references to food, nutrition and food choices in the four selected mothers’ blog. Results. The four main categories of Sobal and Bisogni’s model are found in blogs. The category influences is the one that gets the most mention, except for the blog run by a registered dietitian where the references are equally divided between influences and personal food system. Several sources of nutrition information are mentioned, both formal and informal sources. Conclusion. Analysis of blogs allows us to have access to information provided spontaneously by mothers and questions the effectiveness of nutrition messages from health professionals. As the mothers' food choices affect significantly the development of eating behaviors of their children, it is the role of dietitians and other professionals to better define their messages so that they are better understood and adopted.

Texto completo da fonteThis thesis focuses on citizenship manuals that have been produced by the Canadian government since 1947. Their aim is to prepare persons applying for citizenship for an examination attesting to their knowledge of the country, its history, institutions, and values. Updated periodically, these manuals constitute an official narrative of the nation’s history. In this study, we will analyze the representations of Canada and its history. The purpose of this research is three-fold: (1) identify the changes in the national narrative throughout the editions of the manuals; (2) analyze the type of figures who have been established as protagonists of Canadian history as well as the characteristics attributed to them; and (3) give an account of the social worldviews put forward by the manuals, which is to say the categories and schemata used to present, interpret, and analyze Canada. Attentive to the salience of nationalism and ethnicity in discourse, this thesis adopts a constructivist approach to these phenomena by building on contributions made by Max Weber, Fredrik Barth, and Benedict Anderson. Thus, it addresses the processes of categorization inherent in representations of nation and ethnicity. The aim of this approach is to understand how the Canadian nation and the figures who make it up are constructed discursively in the manuals as national and ethnic figures. This thesis uses a comparative analysis of citizenship manuals published between 1947 and 2012. The methodology includes qualitative approaches to content analysis. The comparative analysis of the storylines found in the manuals and of the characters depicted aims to identify continuities and tensions between the different versions of the national narrative.
