We aimed to investigate the effects of melatonin and resveratrol on diabetes-related papillary muscle dysfunction and structural heart disorders. The protective effect of resveratrol and melatonin supplementation on cardiac functions was investigated in a diabetic elderly female rat model. 16-month-old rats (n=48) were allocated into 8 groups. Group1: Control, Group2: Resveratrol Control, Group3: Melatonin Control, Group4: Resveratrol and Melatonin Control, Group5: Diabetes, Group6: Diabetes Resveratrol, Group7: Diabetes Melatonin, Group8: Diabetes Resveratrol and Melatonin. Streptozotocin was injected intraperitoneally to the rats for experimental diabetes induction. Thereafter, resveratrol (intraperitoneal) and melatonin (subcutaneous) were administered for 4 weeks. Resveratrol and melatonin had a protective effect on the contractile parameters and structural properties of the papillary muscle, which was impaired by diabetes. it has been presented that diabetes impairs the contractile function of the papillary muscle for each stimulus frequency tested and the responses obtained as a result of Ca+2 uptake and release mechanisms from the Sarcoplasmic reticulum, and it has been observed that these effects are improved with resveratrol and melatonin injection. The decrease in myocardial papillary muscle strength in the diabetic elderly female rat can be reversed with the combination of resveratrol, melatonin and resveratrol+melatonin. Melatonin+resveratrol supplementation is no different from melatonin and/or resveratrol supplementation. Resveratrol and melatonin supplementation may have a protective effect on cardiac functions in a diabetic elderly female rat model.

Objective: Aspirin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with antioxidative properties. It is recommended to use different doses and durations according to the characteristics of the patient and the type of disease. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of using aspirin at different doses and for different durations on oxidative stress in ovarian tissue. Material and Methods: Female Wistar albino rats were divided into five groups. Group 1: control group, no special treatment was applied to the rats in this group. Group 2: 1 mg/kg aspirin was administered orally to the rats in this group every day for 28 days. Group 3: 3 mg/kg aspirin was administered orally to rats in this group every three days. Ggroup 4: 5 mg/kg aspirin was administered orally to rats in this group every five days. Group 5: 7 mg/kg aspirin was administered orally to the rats in this group once a week. After fasting overnight following the last application, the rats were sacrificed, and their ovarian tissues were collected. Malondialdehyde, catalase, total thiol group, and AOPP levels were studied from ovarian tissue. Results: Group4 and group5 ovarian tissue MDA levels were found to be significantly higher than the other groups (p<0.05). There was no significant difference between group1, group2 and group3 ovarian tissue MDA levels (p>0.05). Group1 (control group) ovarian tissue AOPP level was found to be significantly lower than all aspirin-administered groups (p<0.05). Group2 ovarian tissue AOPP level was found to be significantly lower than group3, group4 and group5 (p<0.05). TSG level was found to be significantly higher in group 5 when compared to other groups (p0<0.05). Group4 ovarian tissue TSG level was found to be significantly higher when compared to group1, group2 and group3 (p<0.05). Group3 and group4 ovarian tissue CAT activity was found to be significantly higher than group1, group2 and group5 (p<0.05). When group1, group2 and group5 ovarian tissue CAT activities were compared, no significant difference was found (p>0.05). Conclusion: The application of aspirin at certain intervals rather than daily application may have more positive effects on the antioxidant system. especially taking aspirin at intervals of 3 or 5 days may be more effective

Addiction is related to aggression and quality of life. This study examined the relationship between these three factors according to occupation group in a mixed urban/rural area to better understand adult addiction problems. This study was a secondary data analysis of cross-sectional data collected by a 2017 regional survey of adults living in Gunsan City, South Korea. The survey included 500 people split into the unemployed (Group1), full-time homemakers (Group2), and primary (Group3), secondary (Group4), and tertiary (Group5) industry workers. Addiction problems and aggression were positively correlated (p < 0.01). Aggression and alcohol use disorder were correlated in Group3 (r = 0.31), Group4 (r = 0.34), and Group5 (r = 0.32), and aggression and smartphone addiction were correlated in Group2 (r = 0.39) and Group4 (r = 0.31). Problem gambling was correlated with aggression in Group5 (r = 0.39). A negative relationship between quality of life and alcohol use disorder occurred in Group1 (r = −0.36). According to the occupation group, the relationships between addiction problems, aggression, and quality of life were different. These findings suggest that addiction management for adults should be implemented in consideration of occupation groups.

ABSTRACTObjective: To investigate the effect of a prophylaxis paste on surface roughness of different composites, enamel, dentin and porcelain surfaces. Methods: Three different composites (FiltekZ250/Group1, Filtek Supreme XT/Group2, Premise/ Group3), enamel/Group4, dentin/Group5 and porcelain/Group6 samples were used in this study. All specimens were prepared flat by SiC discs and polished with a diamond polishing paste. The surface roughness measurements were determined with a profilometer after polishing (initial surface roughness). Prophylaxis paste was applied to the samples for 12 seconds, renewing every 6 seconds. After cleaning the samples, roughness values were measured again. Data were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis and Dunn’s multiple comparison test. Wilcoxon test was performed for the comparison of the initial and final surface roughness values (P<.05). The results were evaluated within the P<.05 confidence level. Results: The mean %SMHC was:C=77.27%, CL= 72.45%, SL=78.43%, G=66.65% and P=67.95%. Comparing the %SMHC promoted by 5 soft drinks, SL = C > CL > P = G (P<.05). There was not significant correlation between %SMHC and the other variables tested for the five drinks (P>>.05)Results: The initial and final surface roughness values (μm) were determined as follows: Group1: 0.039±0.009 and 0.157±0.018, Group2: 0.023±0.005 and 0.145±0.027, Group3: 0.028±0.008 and 0.109±0.012, Group4: 0.024±0.006 and 0.071±0.015, Group5: 0.030±0.007 and 0.143±0.029, Group6: 0.024±0.006 and 0.064±0.014. Significant difference was determined between the initial and final values for all groups. Conclusions: Composite and dentin surfaces were more affected by the application of prophylaxis paste than enamel and porcelain surfaces. The prophylaxis paste increased the surface roughness of all groups, but did not reach the bacterial retention roughness rate of 0.2μm. (Eur J Dent 2012;6:1-8)

Helical plates are preferably used for proximal humeral shaft fracture fixation and potentially avoid radial nerve irritation as compared to straight plates. Aims:(1) to investigate the safety of applying different long plate designs (straight, 45°-, 90°-helical and ALPS) in MIPO-technique to the humerus. (2) to assess and compare their distances to adjacent anatomical structures at risk.MIPO was performed in 16 human cadaveric humeri using either a straight plate (group1), a 45°-helical (group2), a 90°-helical (group3) or an ALPS (group4). Using CT-angiography, distances between brachial arteries and plates were evaluated. Following, all specimens were dissected, and distances to the axillary, radial and musculocutaneous nerve were evaluated.None of the specimens demonstrated injuries of the anatomical structures at risk after MIPO with all investigated plate designs. Closest overall distance (mm(range)) between each plate and the radial nerve was 1(1-3) in group1, 7(2-11) in group2, 14(7-25) in group3 and 6(3-8) in group4. It was significantly longer in group3 and significantly shorter in group1 as compared to all other groups, p<0.001. Closest overall distance (mm(range)) between each plate and the musculocutaneous nerve was 16(8-28) in group1, 11(7-18) in group2, 3(2-4) in group3 and 6(3-8) in group4. It was significantly longer in group1 and significantly shorter in group3 as compared to all other groups, p<0.001. Closest overall distance (mm(range)) between each plate and the brachial artery was 21(18-23) in group1, 7(6-7) in group2, 4(3-5) in group3 and 7(6-7) in group4. It was significantly longer in group1 and significantly shorter in group3 as compared to all other groups, p<0.021.MIPO with 45°- and 90°-helical plates as well as ALPS is safely feasible and showed a significant greater distance to the radial nerve compared to straight plates. However, distances remain low, and attention must be paid to the musculocutaneous nerve and the brachial artery when MIPO is used with ALPS, 45°- and 90°-helical implants. Anterior parts of the deltoid insertion will be detached using 90°-helical and ALPS implants in MIPO-technique.

Background. From 2005 to 2015 routine calcitonin (CT) screening was performed in our department in all patients with multinodular goiter (MNG) using the same assay.Aim. We investigated possible associations between unstimulated serum CT levels and the presence of either thyroid autoimmunity (AITD) or thyroid neoplasia.Methods. This is a retrospective study of 648 patients (559 female [F] 86.3%, 89 male [M] 13.7%, age range 18-89, median 58 years,). CT≤4.6 pg/ml [F] and ≤11.5 pg/ml [M] was defined as normal. Patients were stratified into 4 groups according to CT. Group1: CT<0.05 (undetectable), Group2: CT [F&M] within normal range, Group3: CT:4.7-10 [F] & 11.6-20 [M], Group4: CT>10 [F] & >20 [M]. Furthermore patients were subcategorized in those with Autoimmune Thyroid Disease (AITD) and those without (non-AITD).Results. The distribution of patients was: Group1: n=186 (28.7%), Group2: n=422 (65.1%), Group3: n=29 (4.5%), Group4: n=11 (1.7%). Of the patients with AITD history 23.4% belonged to Group1, 68.6% to Group2, 6.4% to Group3 and 1.6% to Group4 (x2, p=0.037). Forty seven patients (7.3%) underwent total thyroidectomy. Histopathological examination revealed: Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC) n=3 (3/3 Group4), C-Cell Hyperplasia (CCH) n=5 (3/5 Group3, 2/5 Group4), Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma (PTC) n=17 (7/17 Group1, 10/17 Group2), MNG n=22 (8/22 Group1, 10/22 Group2, 2/22 Group3, 2/22 Group4). 2/5 patients with CCH had PTC. 1/17 PTC patient had mixed PTC-MTC. Patients with MTC had remarkably higher CT levels (253-1222 pg/ml) compared to those with CCH (5.8-16.1 pg/ml).Conclusions. This study reaffirms the positive correlation between CT levels and the presence of MTC or CCH, clearly and conspicuously distinguished by the range of CT levels, albeit in a small number of patients with these diagnoses. Patients with AITD have more frequently detectable or slightly increased CT levels.

Proximal humeral shaft fractures are commonly treated with long straight plates or intramedullary nails. Helical plates might overcome the downsides of these techniques as they are able to avoid the radial nerve distally. The aim of this study was to investigate in an artificial bone model: (1) the biomechanical competence of different plate designs and (2) to compare them against the alternative treatment option of intramedullary nails.Twenty-four artificial humeri were assigned in 4 groups and instrumented as follows: group1 (straight 10-hole-PHILOS), group2 (MULTILOCK-nail), group3 (45°-helical-PHILOS) and group4 (90°-helical-PHILOS). An unstable proximal humeral shaft fracture was simulated. Specimens were tested under quasi-static loading in axial compression, internal/external rotation and bending in 4 directions monitored by optical motion tracking.Axial displacement (mm) was significantly lower in group2 (0.1±0.1) compared to all other groups (1: 3.7±0.6; 3: 3.8±0.8; 4: 3.5±0.4), p<0.001. Varus stiffness in group2 (0.8±0.1) was significantly higher compared to groups1+3, p≤0.013 (1: 0.7±0.1; 3: 0.7±0.1; 4: 0.8±0.1). Varus bending (°) was significantly lower in group2 compared to all other groups (p<0.001) and group4 to group1, p=0.022. Flexion stiffness in group1 was significantly higher compared to groups2+4 (p≤0,03) and group4 to group1, p≤0,029 (1: 0.8±0.1; 2: 0.7±0.1; 3: 0.7±0.1; 4: 0.6±0.1). Flexion bending (°) in group4 was higher compared to all other groups (p≤0.024) and lower in group2 compared to groups1+4, p≤0.024. Torsional stiffness remained non significantly different, p≥0.086. Torsional deformation in group2 was significantly higher compared to all other groups, p≤0.017. Shear displacement remained non significantly different, p≥0.112.From a biomechanical perspective, helical plating with 45° and 90° may be considered as a valid alternative fixation technique to standard straight plating of proximal third humeral fractures. Intramedullary nails demonstrated higher axial and bending stiffness as well as lower fracture gap movements during axial loading compared to all plate designs. However, despite similar torsional stiffness they were associated with higher torsional movements during internal/external rotation as compared to all investigated plate designs.

We study the parabolically induced complex representations of the unitary group in 5 variables - U(5)- defined over a non-archimedean local field of characteristic 0. This is Qp or a finite extension of Qp ,where p is a prime number. We speak of a 'p-adic field'.Let F be a p-adic field. Let E : F be a field extension of degree two. Let Gal(E : F ) = {id, σ}. We write σ(x) = overline{x} forall x ∈ E. Let | |p denote the p-adic norm on E. Let E* := E {0} and let E 1 := {x ∈ E | x overline{x} = 1} .U(5) has three proper parabolic subgroups. Let P0 denote the minimal parabolic subgroup and P1 andP2 the two maximal parabolic subgroups. Let M0 , M1 and M2 denote the standard Levi subgroups and let N0 , N1and N2 denote unipotent subgroups of U(5). One has the Levi decomposition Pi = Mi Ni , i ∈ {0, 1, 2} .M0 = E* × E* × E 1 is the minimal Levi subgroup, M1 = GL(2, E) × E 1 and M2 = E* × U (3) are the two maximal parabolic subgroups. We consider representations of the Levi subgroups and extend them trivially to the unipotent subgroups toobtain representations of the parabolic groups. One now performs a procedure called 'parabolic induction'to obtain representations of U (5).We consider representations of M0 , further we consider non-cuspidal, not fully-induced representationsof M1 and M2 . For M1 this means that the representation of the GL(2, E)− part is a proper subquotientof a representation induced from E* × E* to GL(2, E). For M2 this means that the representation of theU (3)− part of M2 is a proper subquotient of a representation induced from E* × E 1 to U (3).As an example for M1 , take | det |α χ(det) StGL2 * λ' , where α ∈ R, χ is a unitary character of E* , StGL2 is the Steinberg representation of GL(2, E) and λ' is a character of E 1 . As an example forM2 , take | |α χ λ' (det) StU (3) , where α ∈ R, χ is a unitary character of E* , λ' is a character of E 1 andStU (3) is the Steinberg representation of U (3). Note that λ' is unitary.Further we consider the cuspidal representations of M1 .We determine the points and lines of reducibility of the representations of U(5), and we determinethe irreducible subquotients. Further, except several particular cases, we determine the unitary dual ofU(5) in terms of Langlands-quotients.The parabolically induced complex representations of U(3) over a p-adic field have been classied byCharles David Keys in [Key84], the parabolically induced complex representations of U(4) over a p-adicfield have been classied by Kazuko Konno in [Kon01].An aim of further study is the classication of the induced complex representations of unitary groupsof higher rank, like U (6) or U (7). The structure of the Levi subgroups of U (6) resembles the structureof the Levi subgroups of U (4), the structure of the Levi groups of U (7) resembles those of U (3) and ofU (5).Another aim is the classication of the parabolically induced complex representatioins of U (n) over ap-adic field for arbitrary n. Especially one would like to determine the irreducible unitary representations

Is there something special about group rights? Many would say "yes". For some, only certain kinds of groups--ones that are oppressed, or play a special role in well-being--may have rights. For others, the kind of group is not as important as the group's culture and internal structure. At the very least, many argue, group rights ought to be more restricted than individualistic ones. For these reasons, arguing the merits of a group right is often thought to require a theory of groups or of group identity. If only certain kinds of groups may have rights then one has to identify the roles that various groups and/or identities play in personal well-being. If a group's culture or internal structure must meet certain standards then one must develop a theory of how culture or the internal organization of a minority influences people. I argue that it is a mistake to think that arguing a group right requires a theory of groups. This mistake reflects a tendency to think about group membership as a kind of good and to focus on its internal, psychological significance. But if one thinks about group membership as a vehicle of action, and focuses on the concrete effects it may have, it becomes apparent that arguing for a group right does not require a theory of groups, group identity or culture. For in the end, the issues that one must address in arguing a group rights are issues about groups. Rather, they are issues about political and moral authority, and about the extent to which moral and political norms ought to recognize and reinforce the ways that people depend upon one another. These are important issues and they raise pressing questions for political philosophy. But they are not about groups.

In the first part of this thesis we study the genericity conjecture: In the Cayley graph of the mapping class group of a closed surface we look at a ball of large radius centered on the identity vertex, and at the proportion of pseudo-Anosov vertices among the vertices in this ball. The genericity conjecture states that this proportion should tend to one as the radius tends to infinity. We prove that it stays bounded away from zero and prove similar results for a large class of subgroups of the mapping class group. We also present analogous results for Artin--Tits groups of spherical type, knowing that in this case being pseudo-Anosov is analogous to being a loxodromically acting element. In the second part we provide results about parabolic subgroups of Artin-Tits groups of spherical type: The minimal standardizer of a curve on a punctured disk is the minimal positive braid that transforms it into a round curve. We give an algorithm to compute it in a geometrical way. Then, we generalize this problem algebraically to parabolic subgroups of Artin--Tits groups of spherical type. We also show that the intersection of two parabolic subgroups is a parabolic subgroup and that the set of parabolic subgroups forms a lattice with respect to inclusion. Finally, we define the simplicial complex of irreducible parabolic subgroups, and we propose it as the analogue of the curve complex for mapping class groups

In this thesis, we define and study the free wreath product of a compact quantum group by a quantum automorphism group and, in this way, we generalize the previous notion of free wreath product by the quantum symmetric group introduced by Bichon. Our investigation is divided into two part. In the first, we define the free wreath product of a discrete group by a quantum automorphism group. We show how to describe its intertwiners by making use of decorated noncrossing partitions and from this, thanks to a result of Lemeux, we deduce the irreducible representations and the fusion rules. Then, we prove some properties of the operator algebras associated to this compact quantum group, such as the simplicity of the reduced C*-algebra and the Haagerup property of the von Neumann algebra. The second part is a generalization of the first one. We start by defining the notion of free wreath product of a compact quantum group by a quantum automorphism group. We generalize the description of the spaces of the intertwiners obtained in the discrete case and, by adapting a monoidal equivalence result of Lemeux and Tarrago, we find the irreducible representations and the fusion rules. Then, we prove some stability properties of the free wreath product operation. In particular, we find under which conditions two free wreath products are monoidally equivalent or have isomorphic fusion semirings. We also establish some analytic and algebraic properties of the dual quantum group and of the operator algebras associated to a free wreath product. As a last result, we prove that the free wreath product of two quantum automorphism groups can be seen as the quotient of a suitable quantum automorphism group

We study two problems arising from geometric control theory. The Problem I consists of extending the concept of horizontal holonomy group for affine manifolds. More precisely, we consider a smooth connected finite-dimensional manifold M, an affine connection ∇ with holonomy group H∇ and ∆ a smooth completely non integrable distribution. We define the ∆-horizontal holonomy group H∆∇ as the subgroup of H∇ obtained by ∇-parallel transporting frames only along loops tangent to ∆. We first set elementary properties of H∆∇ and show how to study it using the rolling formalism. In particular, it is shown that H∆∇ is a Lie group. Moreover, we study an explicit example where M is a free step-two homogeneous Carnot group with m≥2 generators, and ∇ is the Levi-Civita connection associated to a Riemannian metric on M, and show in this particular case that H∆∇ is compact and strictly included in H∇ as soon as m≥3. The Problem II is studying the modeling of the problem of solver sketch. This problem is one of the steps of a CAD/CAM software. Our goal is to achieve a well founded mathematical modeling and systematic the problem of solver sketch. The next step is to understand the convergence of the algorithm, to improve the results and to expand the functionality. The main idea of the algorithm is to replace first the points of the space of spheres by displacements (elements of the group) and then use a Newton's method on Lie groups obtained. In this thesis, we classified the possible displacements of the groups using the theory of Lie groups. In particular, we distinguished three sets, each set containing an object type: the first one is the set of points, denoted Points, the second is the set of lines, denoted Lines, and the third is the set of circles and lines, we note that ∧. For each type of object, we investigated all the possible movements of groups, depending on the desired properties. Finally, we propose to use the following displacement of groups for the displacement of points, the group of translations, which acts transitively on Lines ; for the lines, the group of translations and rotations, which is 3-dimensional and acts transitively (globally but not locally) on Lines ; on lines and circles, the group of anti-translations, rotations and dilations which has dimension 4 and acts transitively (globally but not locally) on ∧

The Cremona group in n-variables Cr_n(C) is the group of birational transformations of the complex projective n-space. This thesis contributes to the research on Cremona groups through the study of certain classes of „large'' subgroups. In the first part we consider algebraic embeddings of Cr_2(C) into Cr_n(C). In particular, we describe geometrical properties of an embedding of Cr_2(C) into Cr_5(C) that was discovered by Gizatullin. We also classify all algebraic embeddings from Cr_2(C) into Cr_3(C), and we partially generalize this result to embeddings of Cr_n(C) into Cr_{n+1}(C). In a second part, we look at degree sequences of birational transformations of varieties over arbitrary fields. We show that there exist only countably many such sequences and we give new obstructions on the degree growth of automorphisms of affine n-space. In the third part, we classify subgroups of Cr_2(C) containing only elliptic elements, i.e. elements whose iterates are of bounded degree. From this we deduce in particular the Tits alternative for arbitrary subgroups of Cr_2(C). In the last part, we show that every finitely generated simple subgroup of Cr_2(C) is finite and, under the hypothesis of an unproven conjectural lemma, that a simple group can be embedded into Cr_2(C) if and only if it can be embedded into PGL_3(C)

In this thesis we study Kähler groups and their connections to Geometric Group Theory. This work presents substantial progress on three central questions in the field: (1) Which subgroups of direct products of surface groups are Kähler? (2) Which Kähler groups admit a classifying space with finite (n-1)-skeleton but no classifying space with finitely many n-cells? (3) Is it possible to give explicit finite presentations for any of the groups constructed in response to Question 2? Question 1 was raised by Delzant and Gromov. Question 2 is intimately related to Question 1: the non-trivial examples of Kähler subgroups of direct products of surface groups never admit a classifying space with finite skeleton. The only known source of non-trivial examples for Questions 1 and 2 are fundamental groups of fibres of holomorphic maps from a direct product of closed surfaces onto an elliptic curve; the first such construction is due to Dimca, Papadima and Suciu. Question 3 was posed by Suciu in the context of these examples. In this thesis we: provide the first constraints on Kähler subdirect products of surface groups (Theorem 7.3.1); develop new construction methods for Kähler groups from maps onto higher-dimensional complex tori (Section 6.1); apply these methods to obtain irreducible examples of Kähler subgroups of direct products of surface groups which arise from maps onto higher-dimensional tori and use them to show that our conditions in Theorem 7.3.1 are minimal (Theorem A); apply our construction methods to produce irreducible examples of Kähler groups that (i) have a classifying space with finite (n-1)-skeleton but no classifying space with finite n-skeleton and (ii) do not have a subgroup of finite index which embeds in a direct product of surface groups (Theorem 8.3.1); provide a new proof of Biswas, Mj and Pancholi's generalisation of Dimca, Papadima and Suciu's construction to more general maps onto elliptic curves (Theorem 4.3.2) and introduce invariants that distinguish many of the groups obtained from this construction (Theorem 4.6.2); and, construct explicit finite presentations for Dimca, Papadima and Suciu's groups thereby answering Question 3 (Theorem 5.4.4)).

Let G be a real algebraic group of real rank at least 2 and P a parabolic subgroup of G. We prove that any discrete subgroup of G that intersects the unipotent radical of P in a lattice is an arithmetic lattice of G, except maybe when G=SO(2,4n+2) and P is the stabilizer of an isotropic 2-plane. This provide a partial answer to a conjecture of Margulis that was already studied by Hee Oh. We also study the case where G is a product of several rank 1 groups, generalising results of Selberg, Benoist and Oh

Hypothyroidism is a medical state referring to the lack of secretion of thyroid hormones (THs) in the body. It occurs when the thyroid gland starts to produce and secrete a small amount of thyroid hormones Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronin (T3), this will affect body cells, resulting in a slowing of the body's metabolic rate, weight gain, and tachycardia. Visfatin and adiponectin are two hormones from type adipokine produced from fat tissue. Those hormones have an important function in protein, lipid and glucose metabolism, as well their role in energy expenditure. Eighty cases of both sexes (male and female) have been collected from the hospitals and private laboratories of Iraq. They are divided into two groups. Group1 (control group) includes (40) healthy individuals and the group2 includes (40) hypothyroid patients, All patients and controls underwent history taking, determination of levels of visfatin, adiponectin, Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), T4, T3 and lipid profile. The results showed that Visfatin levels in group 2 were significantly higher than in group1, on the other hand, Adiponectin levels decreased in group2 compared with the control group at probability (P≤ 0.01), and concerning the lipid profile, there was a significant increase in the levels of lipid parameters total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL-c) and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) while high density lipoprotein (HDL) was decreased in group2 compared to control group

We study the problem of fairly allocating indivisible goods to groups of agents. Agents in the same group share the same set of goods even though they may have different preferences. Previous work has focused on unanimous fairness, in which all agents in each group must agree that their group's share is fair. Under this strict requirement, fair allocations exist only for small groups. We introduce the concept of democratic fairness, which aims to satisfy a certain fraction of the agents in each group. This concept is better suited to large groups such as cities or countries. We present protocols for democratic fair allocation among two or more arbitrarily large groups of agents with monotonic, additive, or binary valuations. Our protocols approximate both envy-freeness and maximin-share fairness. As an example, for two groups of agents with additive valuations, our protocol yields an allocation that is envy-free up to one good and gives at least half of the maximin share to at least half of the agents in each group.

The Fg 1/ Fg II ratio varies during treatment with SK and heparin. In group 1 a sligjnt increase (2.5) is observed. Group 2 shows a significantdecrease (0.6) as a result of fibrinolysis. In group3 the ratio reaches normal value (1.8) while in the fourth group it is twice the normal value (4). The value for group 5 is nearly normal (2.1), and in group 6 it reaches values similar to those obtained in group 4, which implies that the rise in the Fgl/Fgll ratio is not a result of fibrinolytic treatment. TheFPA level shows and increase in patients with AMI (group 1,126 ng/ml). When SK treatment is applied (group 2), FPA decreases to 52 ng/ml. Later treatment with heparin (group-3, 82; group-4, 44 and group-5, 81ng/ml) does not neutralize thrcmbinic activity. Patients treated only with heparin (group 6) show an FPAvalue of 19 ng/ml, which is lower than in the other groups. All of this indicates that thrombin is activated after fibrinolytic treatment. FDP values show asignificant increase in the six groups (1, 53; 2, 430; 3, 128; 4, 270; 5, 139 and 6, 141 ug/ml), which indicates that during treatment with heparin the fibrinolytic activity persists. he formation of highly cross-linked fibrin is altered in groups 1,2,3 and 4,as a consequence of circulating FDP effect and fibrincgeno- lysis. The permeability of the fibrin clotdecreases in groups 1 (0.42), 2 (1.3), 4 (1.1) and 5(0.5 ml/s/ng) and increases in group 2 (23.2 ml/s/nig) with respect to the normal plasma value (3.2 ml/s/nrg). The decrease in permeability must be related to the existence of hypercoagulability resistant to heparinization. FPA values, tine Fgl/Fgll ratio, andfibrin permeability can be used to evaluate the degree of thrcmbin activity during thrombolytic treatmentinAMI.

Abstract It is important for nuclear reactor physics calculation to generate accurate multigroup cross section libraries by using evaluation nuclear data libraries. A new evaluated nuclear data library processing code, named as AXSP (Advanced Cross Section Processing Code) was developed with independent intellectual property rights. The GroupXS module was developed with the ability of generating multi-group cross-sections based on the Bondarenko method which is always a favorable approximation for the fast spectrum reactor, and the method was also used in GROUPR of NJOY. To verify the accuracy of the GroupXS module, the GROUPR module of NJOY was used, and we corrected three numerical verification bugs of GROUPR. The bugs were described in this study. By comparing the calculation results with GROUPR of NJOY2016, the relative error of multigroup flux, multigroup cross sections of various reaction types are less than 0.01%, and the relative errors of transfer matrices of various reaction types are basically less than 0.1%. All the neutron reaction types of all nuclides in ENDF/B-VII.1, ENDF/B-VIII.0 and CENDL-3.2 can be processed by GroupXS, and the multigroup cross sections generated by GroupXS of AXSP have a good agreement with that generated by GROUPR of NJOY2016.

This work proposes a new methodology to create groups in intervehicular networks as a basis for complex applications involving smart vehicles. We proposed a distributed protocol whose purpose is to build a higher number of groups in less time, keeping the vehicles grouped for most of their journey. We implement our proposal in two versions. The first one considers only the interaction among vehicles. The second includes a group merge functionality. We validate both versions of our protocol using simulation with real traffic data. We evaluate the amount of created groups and their persistence and size.

Wonosobo Regency is dominated by slopes where 80% of the land is careened for more than 20 degrees. In this condition, it is challenging to find a workforce for farming activity, resulting in a high cost for any agricultural activities—one of the activities that need much labor is the weeding activity. The introduction of appropriate technology is required to support agriculture’s sustainability which will efficiently reduce the production cost. This paper proposed an empowerment activity model for farmers in the slope area, which targeted two main goals: introducing the multifunction weeding tools to increase the rice weeding activity’s efficiency and increasing the farmer group competency in the operational management of the agricultural machinery. The empowerment activity was incorporated with a farmer group called Tani Sejahtera in Rojoimo village, Wonosobo. This group has become a model for other farmer groups owning several agricultural machineries and a workshop to develop appropriate technology in their farming. The empowerment was done through (1) the accompaniment in the appropriate weeding tool’s development from design to evaluation and (2) training for the farming group on the agricultural machinery’s operational management. These empowerment activities affected the farmer group’s independency accretion towards the appropriate technology development that is needed for the farming activities where the cost can be reduced, along with the farmer group's comprehension of agricultural machinery operational management is increased. This empowerment activity can be a model to escalate farmers’ independence in sloping land regarding the development and operational management of the appropriate agricultural tools and machinery.

Armed groups tax. Journalistic accounts often have a tone of surprise about this fact, while policy reports tend to strike a tone of alarm, highlighting the link between armed group taxation and ongoing conflict. Policymakers often focus on targeting the mechanisms of armed group taxation as part of their conflict strategy, often described as ‘following the money’. We argue that what is instead needed is a deeper understanding of the nuanced realities of armed group taxation, the motivations behind it, and the implications it has for an armed group’s relationship with civilian and diaspora populations, as well as the broader international community. We build on two distinct literatures, on armed groups and on taxation, to provide the first systematic exploration into the motivation of armed group taxation. Based on a review of the diverse practices of how armed groups tax, we highlight that a full account of the groups’ motivations needs to go beyond revenue motivations, and engage with key themes around legitimacy, control of populations, institution building, and the performance of public authority. Discussions of extremist ideologies naturally focus on how in-groups criticize and attack out-groups. But many important extremist ideological texts are disproportionately focused criticizing their own in-group. This research report will use linkage-based analysis to examine Siege, a White nationalist tract that has played an important role shaping modern neo-Nazi movements, including such violent organizations as Atomwaffen Division and The Base. While Siege strongly attacks out-groups, including Jewish and Black people, the book is overwhelmingly a critique of how the White people of its in-group fall short of Nazi ideals. Siege’s central proposition—that the White in-group is disappointing, deeply corrupt, and complacent—shapes its argument for an “accelerationist” strategy to hasten the collapse of society in order to build something entirely new. Finally, this report briefly reviews comparable extremist texts from other movements to draw insights about how in-group critiques shape extremist strategies. These insights offer policymakers and law enforcement tools to anticipate and counter violent extremist strategies. They also highlight less-obvious avenues for potential counter-extremist interventions and messaging campaigns.

Background and Objectives- Symptomatic Primary Hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is common in India in comparison to the western population. But there is very little data on the inuence of age on the presentation of PHPT. In the present study we aimed to analyse the clinical and metabolic prole among different age groups of symptomatic primary hyperparathyroidism. Methods: This retrospective analysis was done in PHPT patients who attended Department of Endocrinology, Gauhati Medical college and Hospital. Thirty-one PHPT subjects who presented to us over a period of last ve years were divided into three different age groups i.e, children and adolescents <18yrs, adults ≥18-50 years, and older group >50years. All major clinical, metabolic and imaging parameters were compared among these groups. Appropriate statistical methods were used to compare different variables. The age distribution ranged from 13 to Results: 72 years with mean age of 38.6±16.3years and with equal female to male ratio. Bony deformity (Rickets) as initial manifestation was seen in three adolescents and bone pain was common in adolescents(p=0.05). Prevalence of renal stones were higher in adult group(p=0.002), gastrointestinal manifestations were higher in older group (p=0.02). There was no signicant difference in fracture rate(P=0.17), brown tumours(P=0.56) and other symptoms among different age groups. Alkaline phosphatase(p=0.006) and iPTH(p=0.01) were signicantly higher in adolescent group. There was no signicant difference in serum calcium, phosphate, 25(OH)Vitamin-D3 and haemoglobin levels among different age groups. Age has substantial inuence on PHPT presentation. Bone Interpretation & Conclusion: pain and deformity was common in adolescents, while renal stones and gastrointestinal manifestations were common in middle aged and elderly group respectively
