Texto completo da fonteIn this thesis, we focus on challenges to support Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) in heterogeneous wireless networks, of which the topology can be statically defined but more likely to be arbitrary and organized as spontaneous wireless mesh networks. We first propose the cluster-based architecture to scale up the network. Subsequently, we propose an extension to PMIPv6 for scalability support in large wireless networks in a cluster-based manner. We have evaluated the scalability of our framework, called Scalable Proxy Mobile IPv6 (SPMIPv6), in a wireless mesh network context. A mathematical model has been used to investigate the scalability of the framework with consideration of the wireless mesh network size, mobile node density, and average mobile speed. Furthermore, we introduce route optimization support into the SPMIPv6 framework, and then propose an enhanced IP-Layer network-based movement detection mechanism to deal with an environment employing heterogeneous radio access technologies. In order to evaluate the performance of these extensions, we implement all these propositions under Linux. We setup both virtual and real wireless mesh testbeds and run each in different scenarios to evaluate important information, such as signaling cost, handover latency, packets loss, Round Trip Time (RTT), and TCP throughput. Finally, we address the multi-homing context by proposing a virtual Stream Control Transmission Protocol (vSCTP) tunneling method, which is beneficial for both users and operators with wireless bandwidth aggregation and load balancing scenarios

Texto completo da fonteThe content of this paper deals with the inventory management problem in a network of many consumer products storage locations. Each location autonomously manages its stock to satisfy a deterministic demand over a given horizon. A maximum quantity of stock Si is held at each site i. When the reorder point si is reached, an order Qi is placed to the distribution center which supplies all sites. Qi is such that Qi = Si - si. The amount Qi is delivered with a known lead-time Li. If, at a given time, the Di demand at location i exceeds the on-hand inventory, the location i uses one or more other network locations for a lateral transshipment of a quantity Xji (j = 1, 2... n) from location j to location i. This lateral transhipment is made according to a number of rules that take into account transshipment cost, holding cost, replenishment cost and shortage cost. This thesis examines six key contributions published in the literature to assess the contributions of a collaborative model to performance, in terms of cost and service level, at each network location. This investigation is limited to a two-level network configuration: a central warehouse and n (n > 2) storage locations. The case of repairable spare parts, characterized by a random demand, is examined in three chapters of this memory. Another application of these strategies to collaboration between n hospitals (n> 2) is also examined in this work.

Texto completo da fonteThis research focuses on the multi-physic modeling and the optimization of an autonomous multi-source microgrid supplying a residential application. The studied micro-grid is a renewable energy system composed of photovoltaic panels PV as a main production source, a fuel cell as an auxiliary production source, supercapacitors and a Lithium Ion battery as a hybrid storage system and static converters for power levels adjustment. As a first step, this research focuses on the multi-physics modeling of energy sources and storage elements by considering electrical, thermal and aging domain and their experimental validation. In fact, the aging study of the system’s elements requires the modeling of the whole system, since aging depends mainly on electrical and thermal parameters. Secondly, multiphysical energy management strategy is developed based on frequency separation. Thus, the main strategy objectives are reducing the fuel consumption (Hydrogen) and improving the storage and production elements lifetime. Therefore, a technical-economic study is carried out, in order to identify the best agreement between the system total cost and the energy produced. Finally, a sensitivity analysis is conducted to identify the most influential parameters on the total cost of the system

Texto completo da fonteMajor visions of future communication scenarios presume the emergence of new communication models based on the collective, group and concentration dependent mobility behaviors. Users will form moving networks called Mobile Networks (MONET). In this thesis, we were interested in the mobility support for MONET networks. In the first part of the study dedicated to the study of MONET networks IP mobility, We proposed two solutions that address this routing problem. The second part of the thesis was devoted to study the wireless mobility. We focused on QoS-aware services that Mobile Network nodes are supposed to handle. Thus, we propose a solution we called TBR for Time-based Bandwidth Reservation. Our scheme is based on the users mobility prediction using real-time measures. In the last part of this thesis, we aimed to study the feasibility and the interaction of the TBR mechanism with a MAC layer of an existing radio interface. We chose to study the application of TBR in a mobile WiMAX network (IEEE 802. 16e)

Texto completo da fonteAs the aircraft fuel consumption needs more efficient systems, electrical distribution becomes a favoured way in satisfying those needs. In this context, the “more electrical aircraft” notion implies to deeply refund distribution means. High Voltage Direct Current - HVDC - distribution helps in going this way. A general description of civil aircraft embedded systems is given in this document. Advantages and drawbacks of energetic vectors are described too, allowing a better comprehension of possible improvements due to system electrification. Therefore, the HVDC deployment can lead to new problems, particularly in quality and stability domains. In order to take into account these problems, we propose a new distribution architecture in which equipments are interconnected through power distribution centres, which ones are interconnected through power flow controller equipments. This new architecture is described as a meshed distribution network. Two kinds of equipment are proposed to control the electrical power flow: DCPFC - for Direct Current Power Flow Controller - and MAPFC - Mixed function for Actuation Power Flow Control. As a result, a specific power management is needed. Equipment operating modes and power to transfer references have to be determined. In a first step, a graph based modelling of the electrical network is done, resulting in a generic algorithm which permits to determine network structural equations. In a second step, two algorithms control the network: - Discrete quantities are regulated by an expert system based on a rule set; - Continuous quantities are managed through a flow research algorithm based on the graph modelling; The validation of these concepts is realised through electrical simulations of the whole meshed network. Then, an experimental test bench validates the theoretical principles and allows the operation of equipments and meshed network in multiple configurations. Finally, concepts are extrapolated in an electrical network respecting aeronautic constraints. Those constraints are highlighted at equipment level and network level

Texto completo da fonteA problem facing many distribution networks, especially in retail, is the choice between a local product storage facility or a shared installation for all network centers. The common storage enables economies of scale. However, may cause significant transport costs. As for local storage, it is costly in terms of investment but cheap in use. To enjoy the benefits of both techniques while minimizing their drawbacks, it is envisaged the installation of local stocks can also be used by other companies. In this case, the problem that then arises is twofold. This is one for each company to determine its own order quantity, depending on the demand estimated at each point of sale. It is secondly to organize the exchange of products between companies based on actual local demands. The research presented in this thesis propose coordination mechanisms that act in a collective manner and not in an individual manner, to improve both the yield at each distribution center and customer satisfaction .. Our main challenge in this thesis is to propose an innovative analytical approach end of game theory to address inventory management problems to reduce overall inventory in the distribution networks throughout ensuring a good level of service

Texto completo da fonteEnergy is a key resource in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), especially when sensor nodes are powered by batteries. This thesis is investigates how to save energy of the whole WSN, at the application level, thanks to control strategies, in real time and in a dynamic way. The first energy management strategy investigated is based on Model Predictive Control (MPC). The choice of MPC is motivated by the global objectives that are to reduce the energy consumption of the set of sensor nodes while ensuring a given service, named mission, for the sensor network. Moreover, a set of constraints on the binary control variables and on the sensor modes must be fulfilled. The second energy management strategy at the application level is based on a Hybrid Dynamical System (HDS) approach. This choice is motivated by the hybrid inherent nature of the WSN system when energy management is considered. The hybrid nature basically comes from the combination of continuous physical processes, namely, the charge / discharge of the node batteries; while the discrete part is related to the change in the functioning modes and the Unreachable condition of the nodes. The proposed strategies are evaluated and compared in simulation on a realistic test-case. Lastly, they have been implemented on a real test-bench and the results obtained have been discussed

Texto completo da fonteThe aim of this work is the study of the problem of managing the flow of containers and vehicles in a multimodal network. We propose a formulation of the problem under the form of a realistic mathematical model that takes into account the different aspects related to container transport and storage and whose objective is to minimize the overall cost of transport. For large-scale resolution, a two-level resolution approach is proposed. In a first level we build an aggregated model easier to solve to extract the decisions related to the movements of trains and barges as well as a dual terminal of our basic problem. This information is used in a second level to have good quality solutions of our problem compared to the solutions given by CPLEX by directly solving the basic model. Numerical results on randomly generated instances are presented and prove the value of the proposed resolution approach

Texto completo da fonteThis work is dedicated to the analysis, design and performance evaluation of physical layer network coding strategies in multiuser communication systems. The first part is devoted to study the compute-and-forward protocol in the basic multiple access channel. For this strategy, we propose an optimal solution to design efficient network codes based on solving a lattice shortest vector problem. Moreover, we derive novel bounds on the ergodic rate and the outage probability for the CF operating in fast and slow fading channels respectively. Besides, we develop novel decoding algorithms proved numerically to outperform the traditional decoding scheme for the CF. The second part is dedicated to the design and end-to-end performance evaluation of network codes for the CF and the analog network coding in the two-way relay channel and the multi-source multi-relay channel. For each network model we study the decoding at the relay nodes and the end destination, propose search algorithms for optimal network codes for the CF and evaluate, theoretically and numerically, the end-to-end error rate and achievable transmission rate. In the last part, we study new decoders for the distributed MIMO channel termed integer forcing (if). Inspired by the CF, if receivers take advantage of the interference provided by the wireless medium to decode integer linear combinations of the original codewords. We develop in our work efficient algorithms to select optimal if receivers parameters allowing to outperform existing suboptimal linear receivers

The first stream of research on services marketing is assessed. Two caracteristics are highlighted, one is cross-fertilization with other management sciences such as operations management or human ressources management, the other is the international dimension of this stream of research. The focus of the second part is the marketing paradigm which emphasizes the logic of justification at the expense of the logic of discovery. The research work of the author in the area of services marketing is described, as well its content as its methodology. The third part is devoted to the analysis of the implementation problems of three intermediary concepts : the concept of servuction, the offering system, and the new service formula

Texto completo da fonteHow do organizations working in a simultaneously complex, competitive and turbulent environment manage risk ? Most traders buy and sell over a hundred million dollars daily, and there arc more than one hundred operators on a dealing floor. This empirical study draws over three years of participant observation in a trading room and forty interview in Paris, London and Hong Kong. There are three main contributions to this research : 1. The development of concepts guiding the understanding of the unique phenomenon of dealing rooms : the position, the correlation of financial instruments and the desk as a combination of a trading strategy and a product. 2. The building of a model guiding the understanding of organizations. This model is based on three fundamental forms: the hierarchy, the market and the network. We redefine them as ideal types through regulation, coordination and adaptation. 3. These ideal types allow for an analytical charting encompassing risk-management strategies. This makes it possible to draw up a falsifiable hypothesis: are trading rooms plural organizations ? We show the relevance of our ideal types and of their complex interactions. Chinese walls and product lines are explained as an application of this approach. Some distinctive features of dealing rooms are also explained : their perpetual state of transformation and their distinctiveness from other forms of organization. Facing a "crisis of the understanding of organizations", we suggest a new approach to risk- management and bring a contribution to the question of the "nature of the firm". Parallels with other organizations - in simultaneous engineering, control towers and news agencies - are suggested. Teaching of our research also bear on the inadequacy of risk-control strategies in use and suggest ways of improvement

Texto completo da fonteThis paper deals with the problem of planning and control of spare parts inventory for systems subject to random failures. We describe a series of decision models to manage a range of spare parts for networks made up of several equipment in operation. Each equipment is composed of one or more parts that are necessary for its proper functioning. When part breaks down, it is replaced by another, if available in stock., it will then be taken to the repair station to restore it to its working condition. The models studied in this work are adapted to an organization with a network of equipment, transport channels, stocks of spare parts and several repair stations. Inventories and stations are deployed to serve a territory, zone or region to ensure a required level of service. The proposed mathematical models, describing the failure, the repair and the transport processes, use the queuing theory. It accurately reflects the phenomenon of failure and repair caused by the capacity constraints of repair stations and transport channels. The stochastic process that generates the arrival of failure parts at repair stations is assumed to be a Poisson process. The processing and transit times of a part are not known with certainty, they are considered as random variables, which follow general distributions. The spare parts inventory management system adopts a continuous transaction policy with unit replenishment (S-1, S). In this thesis, we are interested in analyzing the evolution of the system in a permanent regime, in order to find an optimal control policy which depends essentially on the number of spare parts to be kept in stock and the processing capacity of repair stations. We also develop approximate models to deal with multi-echelon logistic configurations, as well as emergency requests in a higher echelon, and lateral transfers between stores of the same echelon level. These models are adjusted to deal with different service measures and to handle several spare parts references. Several algorithms have been proposed and implemented, giving rise to numerical results yielding efficiency curves (Cost, Service Level, Capacity) allowing managers to make informed decisions throughout the life cycle of the system. In addition, a very detailed comparative study has been conducted to demonstrate the accuracy of the results obtained by our algorithms with the best contributions published in the literature. Keywords: Spare parts inventory management, maintenance policies, inventory control policies, renewal function, queuing system, supply chains, multi-echelon networks.

Texto completo da fonteIn urban environments, or in the areas where the stormy showers are frequent and violent, it is advisable to temporarily store volumes of precipitations in retaining tanks before slackening them with flow controlled in the sewage networks or the natural environment, which limits the risks of flood and the environmental impacts. The dimension of these basins can quickly be important and their establishment on an encumbered site to become complicated and expensive. The solution suggested in this study is to distribute the retention on several basins connected to each other by pipes and controlled by nozzles, and to exploit their respective capacity and the conditions of transfer to optimize the rejection in the network or the natural environment. A numerical model named tank type was developed, which represents with a good level of precision the heights in the basins and the flows transferred according to time as well as intensity and the duration of the rain. This simplified model incremented according to a step of coherent time with the intensity of the rain works in volumes and flow without being delayed on the hydraulic conditions of flow. It was validated by several studies of sensitivity on meshes of 2 or 3 tanks and opens up the way for a tool for pre simple and reliable dimensioning

Texto completo da fonteTo face the increasing demand of electrical power in compliance with the liberalization of the electricity market and the need of reducing CO2 emissions, many distributed energy resources have emerged and especially the generation systems that utilize renewable energy sources. In the nearfuture, the grid could be described as an aggregation of several microgrids both consumer and producer. For those "prosumers", a classical strategy consists in selling all the highly subsidized production at important prices while all consumed energy is purchased. Smarter operations now become possible with developments of energy storage technologies and evolving prices policies. The microgrid considered in the thesis is composed of an industrial load and a photovoltaic generator associated to an energy storage. Two technologies are considered with high speed flywheels on one hand and a Li-ion electrochemical battery on the other. The common study referring to such systems allude to the optimal scheduling, the real-time management and the sizing methodology. Firstly in the thesis, the optimal power flow dispatching is performed using various algorithms. Those operations aim at reducing the electrical bill taking account of consumption and production forecasts as well as the different fares and possible constraints imposed by the power supplier. Then the design strategy is investigated. The approach consists in simultaneously integrating the energy management and the sizing of the system. We particularly underline the complexity of the resulting optimization problem and how it can be solved using suitable optimization methods in compliance with relevant models of the microgrid. We specifically show the reduction of the computational time allowing the microgrid simulation over long time durations in the optimization process in order to take seasonal variations into account. In the last part a cost analysis is performed, and different design are computed depending on the prices policies. The goal is to determine a financial context that would encourage the deployment of storage systems that are necessary to favor the development of intermittent renewable energy sources

Texto completo da fonteToday, the integration of renewable energies poses problems of congestion and uncertainty on the electricity network, given the intermittency and unpredictability of this type of energy. What's more, for reasons of profitability and efficiency, the power generated from renewables is transmitted in the form of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC). A new concept has therefore emerged, that of merging HVDC interconnections into an existing meshed network, which will bring greater flexibility to the operation of the overall system. The result is a hybrid electricity transmission system with significant mutual interactions between the existing AC system and the integrated DC system. While the stability problems of the AC network have now been identified, those of the hybrid system still need to be studied, since the integration of rapidly controllable power converters could modify the behaviour of the entire system. As a result, this thesis project seeks to establish an innovative study encompassing the entire AC/DC hybrid system. This will focus on a security assessment that takes into account operational constraints and the ability of the system to reach a new equilibrium. In addition, this thesis will address the stabilisation challenges of the overall hybrid system. To this end, the assignments will consist of a preliminary study of the state of the art: what is the physical nature of the instability problems of the AC system? What types and ranges of disturbances should be considered for stability assessment? Finally, what modelling and control of the HVDC system? All of this will enable the development of an inclusive security assessment tool that takes into account different system control methods. An analysis will also be carried out to understand the influence of the parameters and control methods adopted. This will help us to implement a systematic means of control to improve network security and optimise power distribution across a Multi-Terminal DC network

Texto completo da fonteOver the past decade, new concepts have emerged in the electricity field, including the Smart Grids, the Distributed Generation and the Micro- grids (MGs). In this thesis, we will be mainly focusing on the study of the MGs. An MG is a small-scale power system, consisting of local power generation, local loads and energy storage systems. Thanks to their numerous economical, ecological and operational benefits, the MGs are expected to hold the promise of becoming a major ingredient in the implementation of the future power systems. However, there are several significant challenges to overcome in order to achieve its expected bene- fits, namely: the cyber-attacks, the mobility aspect, the interoperability, the non-cooperation, and the demand-side management. Three main contributions are developed. First, we present OntoMG, an ontology-based data model, capable of representing the heterogeneous components of the MG and their properties, while being compliant with existing models and information standards (i.e., IEC 61970 and IEC 61850) and coping with the interoperability issues and the multi-objective aspect of MG. Secondly, we introduce DECF, a cooperative model for the optimization of the electricity exchange in the MG, offering several advantages over existing approaches, in particular: 1) its generic in that it considers all heterogeneous components of MG, 2) it is a cooperative model that reduces the technical, ecological and economic costs and encourages the local power exchange, and 3) it is user-oriented in that it gives the user the possibility to fine-tune the weight of each objective aspect . Finally, we introduce MOCSF, a ‘Multi-objective Cooperative Scheduling Framework’ designed for scheduling the production, consumption and storage in the MG. MOCSF 1) provides a multi-type scheduling in that it allows the scheduling of all the power consumption, production and storage of the MG, 2) considers multiple energy sources and 3) considers the MG components’ preferences. After detailing the existing power scheduling techniques and their drawbacks regarding our challenges, we presented our ‘MOCSF’ modules: The Preference-based compromise builder, designed to generate the best balance between the sellers and buyers desired schedules and the Multi-Objective Scheduler, aiming at scheduling the seller-to-buyer associations resulting from the DECF, while reducing the operational, economic and ecological costs of the MG. An illustrative example is provided after each step to ease the understanding of each module. Finally, a set of experiments showed the performance and efficiency of our approach. Illustrative examples are provided after each step to facilitate understanding of each module. Then, a number of simulations are made to show the effectiveness of our approaches to solve our challenges in relation to the existing approaches
