A novel gait planning method using geodesics for humanoid robot is given in this paper. Both the linear inverted pendulum model and the exact Single Support Phase (SSP) are studied in our energy optimal gait planning based on geodesics. The kinetic energy of a 2-dimension linear inverted pendulum is obtained at first. We regard the kinetic energy as the Riemannian metric and the geodesic on this metric is studied and this is the shortest line between two points on the Riemannian surface. This geodesic is the optimal kinetic energy gait for the COG because the kinetic energy along geodesic is invariant according to the geometric property of geodesics and the walking is smooth and energy saving. Then the walking in Single Support Phase is studied and the energy optimal gait for the swing leg is obtained using our geodesics method. Finally, experiments using state-of-the-art method and using our geodesics optimization method are carried out respectively and the corresponding currents of the joint motors are recorded. With the currents comparing results, the feasibility of this new gait planning method is verified.

Cartesian extended matter has its own nondual analog of the 1915 Einstein Equation for pure field physics in nonempty moving space. This tensor balance of energy densities and local stresses leads to Maxwell-type equalities for inertial currents and vector geodesic equations for relativistic accelerations of the Ricci scalar for inertial and gravitational mass densities. Field inertia of slow energy flows reestablishes the living force feedback which is missed in Newton-Euler fluid dynamics and in the Navier-Stokes equation.

ABSTRACT A Storage tank at oil refinery caught fire on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 20.00 Wib. The burnt tank with a capacity of about 31,000 kiloliters (kl) was fully filled, the impact caused by the fire was in the form of direct losses, damage to surrounding infrastructure and other losses. The research method is to examine the level of damage to the condition of the storage tank due to fire by examining the parts of the tank to determine the location of the first fire location. The second is to carry out a thorough inspection of data and technical information on the tank, operations and systems. The third is carrying out inspection and data analysis, technical information on the installed tank, testing and measuring in the tank. Then the four carry out an analysis of the fire process and conclude from the overall results of the inspection. The results of the fire/explosion was the ignition of Pertalite type hydrocarbon liquid vapor which had reached the flammable range and the explosion limit in the Northwest Part of the Aluminum Geodesic Dome Roof Tank by a lightning strike which could cause tear/melt on the Aluminum Geodesic Dome Roof and damage to the Seal (Seal Hub Cover Gusset and Batten Gasket Sturt) Tank and the inability of the bounding grounding system of the roof cover to the wall and GT (Ground Tank) 1-8 transferring lightning strike currents.
Let Z be a finite surface with negative Euler characteristic. A geodesic current on Z is a Radon measure on the set of bi-infinite unoriented geodesics of the universal cover of Z which is stable by the action of the fundamental group. This notion has been introduced by F.Bonahon in 1986 and has since proven to be a fertile concept in the study of geometry of surfaces. In this thesis we are interested in two main applications of geodesic currents: the compactification of Teichmüller space and counting problems in surfaces. The first chapter is dedicated to the necessary definitions and properties. Chapter 2 deals with Thurston compactification of Teichmüller space. Especially, we will prove that the method developed by Bonahon using geodesic currents can be extended for non-compact surfaces of finite area. This chapter also contains some results about sequences of random geodesics. The last two chapters focus on counting problems. In chapter 3 we prove that arcs in surfaces with boundary can be counted thanks to sequences of measures on geodesic currents. Hence, chapter 4 is dedicated to the different perspectives associated to this manuscipt. The main one being to count elements in the orbits for the action of subgroups of mapping class groups on curves

The object of the thesis is to obtain the apparent- resistivity curves and induced-polarization (IP) effects that are utilized in geophysical exploration. Two different earth geometries, the thin horizontal conductive layer and vertical dike, were studied. The solution for both cases is identical. First, quasi- static electrical conditions were assumed, so that the problem could be solved using potential fields. The exact solution to the problem was obtained by using the Bessel integral formulation. Also, the image method was employed to find the potential fields. We noticed that the image -type series converges best when the dike or layer was thick (ratio of thickness to electrode spacing, b/a, is large) and the reflection coefficient was not near ±1. Otherwise, it is preferable to employ the thin conductive sheet model. The next step was to determine the dilution and distortion factors which are relevant to the induced polarization response. Finally, numerical results were obtained using a Fortran computer program. These calculations were compared with some results taken from the literature and good agreement is seen.

AbstractOur Earth is a complex system. By monitoring the integrated geodetic-geodynamic processes, we can understand its sub-systems and geographical distribution of its resources. With the development of space techniques and artificial satellites, satellite geodesy era started, e.g., it became possible to observe a wide range of processes, occurring both on and below the Earth's surface. Such observations can be exploited not only in environmental activities, but also in societal activities like natural disasters monitoring. Thus, satellite geodesy can bring great benefits to “Climate action”, one of the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nation: we can estimate the ice-sheet mass balance and study the impact of climate change by monitoring sea levels. This paper aims to investigate the possible implementation of cold atom sensors for future satellite gravity missions, which would improve our current knowledge of the Earth’s gravity field and contribute into the sustainable environmental management. Geodesy is a very ancient science. The beginnings can be found in Egypt. The field ofscience is closely related to astronomy, geophysics, geology, geometry, etc. Planet Earthis in the process of evolution. Earths crust together with the upper mantle is incontinuous motion: horizontally and vertically. Movement of the Earths crust as aresult, lithospheric plates move, creating mountains and valleys, changing coastlines, changing sea and ocean levels. Earths internal and external (Sun and Moon) forcesresult in deformations over time. The field of geodesy studies global, national, regionaland local issues. Earths shape and dimensions, gravity field, orientation in terrain map, coordinate systems and reference frames. Geodetic, gravimetric and magnetometricmeasurements are used for practical and scientific geodetic tasks. Geodetic networks arecreated for the reduction of measurements into the most uniform coordinate system.Geodetic networks consist of a set of geodetic points with the same type ofcharacteristics, determined as a result of mutual measurements. Geodetic surveying is ofgreat practical importance in construction, cadastral surveying, urban planning, mining, logistics planning, navigation, and military works. The structure and homogeneity ofgeodetic networks in a city or a village allow to observe and monitor the situation over aperiod of time. Model and design a geodetic network according to the practical task. The aim of this publication is to develop a village geodetic network project for part ofthe Gulbene city (village Sparite). There are several tasks - to understand theimportance of geodetic networks in national economy; to find out the division of thegeodetic network in Latvia; to get to know and describe the development of geodeticnetworks and the current situation in Gulbene county.

The latest amendments to Ordinance 1 on the creation and maintenance of specialized maps and registers of specialized public state property under the Act on the Black Sea coast spatial development create a procedure for changing and periodically updating these specialized maps and registers, as the existing regulation regulated only their creation and acceptance. The change and the periodic updating of these specialized maps and registers are assigned by the Bulgarian Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre to certified individuals to perform cadastral activities, a qualified land surveyor who prepares the necessary draft amendments and documentation. In the above context, the article aims to present the results of the application of current geodetic technologies and solutions in connection with geodetic activities for periodic updating of specialized maps and registers under the Act on the Black Sea coast spatial development for the famous Bulgarian sea beach. The periodic update includes control geodetic measurements and analysis against the data reflected in the specialized maps and registers and the cadastral map and the cadastral registers; capture of new or changed objects, sub-objects and elements; verification of the characteristics of the objects and sub-objects. The obtained results are presented with the help of unmanned aerial system and global navigation satellite system and conclusions and recommendations are made for their applicability on the presented issues.

The article presents the current state and views of the author in connection with the creation of a Geoinformation system for the territory of Bulgaria within the meaning of the Geodesy and Cartography Act. The provisions of this law on this issue are from its entry into force, i.e. since 2006 and so far, there is no officially published information on actions in this direction, except for the creation and maintenance of Web applications with information on materials and data from the Bulgarian Geocartfond and information on geographical names in Bulgaria. At the conceptual level and in accordance with the standards and technical specifications of the ISO/TC 211 - Geographic information/Geomatics, the Open Geospatial Consortium and the national legislation some important geodetic and geoinformation aspects of the issue are commented and analyzed. The major findings of the research are related to the objective need to apply a systematic approach, which should lead to relationships in which the resulting effect is greater than the sum of the individual effects, ie. to lead to synergy. According to the provisions of the Geodesy and Cartography Act, for the needs of Geodesy and Cartography a Geoinformation system must be created, which consists of: unified digital model on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, corresponding in content and accuracy of large-scale topographic map at a scale of 1: 5000, respectively 1:10 000; geodetic and topographic databases; database of geographical names; geospatial digital models. In this aspect, the considered Geoinformation system must provide all activities related to spatial planning in all its aspects.

The Cultural Heritage Act regulates the preservation and protection of the cultural heritage of the Republic of Bulgaria, and the State ensures the protection of cultural heritage regardless of its location. The procedure for identifying, declaring and granting the status of sites as immovable cultural property, as well as the procedure for establishing temporary protection regimes for declared immovable cultural heritage sites and for the protection regimes for immovable cultural property, are also laid down in subordinate legislation. The geodetic production, i.e. land surveying, photogrammetric and remote sensing methods, technologies and solutions, plays a key role in the implementation of the Cultural Heritage Act and the related subordinate legislation with regard to the regimes for the protection of immovable cultural heritage sites and immovable cultural property. The paper presents an innovative approach for systematic solution of specific topical problems related to the conservation of immovable cultural property and immovable cultural heritage sites on the territory of Bulgaria in accordance with the current regulations in the field of Geodesy, Cartography, Cadastre and Spatial planning. Basically, this approach solves the main use cases related to cultural heritage from the point of view of the geodetic production and the persons legally qualified to carry out cadastral and engineering investment design activities, i.e. the graduated surveyors, aka Geodesy engineers. The approach is implemented through Autodesk's concept of direct access and management of spatial data and information, i.e. the application of a file-based industry model in the documentation and modelling of Bulgaria's immovable cultural heritage for its preservation and protection. The implemented file-based industry model applies the Autodesk client-server architecture for: access spatial data using Feature Data Objects technology, edit spatial data, manage Geo-information systems with Industry Models.

The purpose of this paper is to support and promote the techniques and technologies based on e-learning system. Current trends in the university network require implementation of the policy for restructuring the higher education system, by focusing on the student's educational activities. The new methods involve experimentation learning based on scenarios, alternative solutions and direct interaction between the student, the subject of learning and the learning environment. In this context, when the institutional support is provided, improvement and diversification of educational offers for geodetic engineering and their correlation with the labour market are defined on two main directions. As regards the bachelor cycle, an online network was implemented for university collaboration to develop the capacity of providing superior competences in Geodesy, mainly for harmonization and standardization of a training program at multi-regional level. For the master cycle, emphasis is put on the use of the Virtual Campus of the Politehnica University Timisoara, system based on Moodle, an open-source platform which is an online educational environment of academic support for all faculties belonging to Politehnica University Timisoara. In the present paper, the authors aim to put forward issues such as: where the academic system is heading to (Quo Vadis Academia?) at the beginning of the 3rd millennium in a Europe that is supposed to be Globally Competitive; what are the requirements of the higher education system and of research seen as key positions in the EU strategy; what does quality in higher education mean, as well as presenting their own experiences regarding the implementation of e-Learning technologies in geodetic engineering, its impact on the development and mentality of students and proposals for enhancing the system by offering Open Educational Resources.

The basic aim is to contribute to the world geodetic space in line with today’s scientific achievements. Riga geodynamic site is a thankful place for this, as it has long-term SLR observations and the longest GNSS records in Latvia. The goal is establishment of regional long-term geodetic monitoring station at LU Institute of Astronomy, Riga, Kandavas street 2, by joining at least two space geodetic technologies – the already installed laser-telescope LS-105 and GNSS − collocated, but not sufficiently linked. The capability of geodetic GNSS observations would uniquely complement Riga GNSS station and allow to determine more accurate coordinates of the LS-105 laser telescope and the long-term changes needed to accurately measure the positions of Earth satellites and other similar space objects. GNSS Observation Station will contribute to the development of positioning and position long-term change to accuracy of less than 1mm, one of the current global goals of GGOS. We plan to solve the problem with the exact position of the telescope LS-105 it will contribute to the development of scientific research and applied potential of the LU Satellite Laser Ranging station. From the national point of view geodetic station serves as an important point for Latvian National Geodetic Network, long term large infrastructure planning, engineering communications, cartography, etc. From a global perspective the station will be one of very few such stations in the region and the only one in the Baltics capable of valuable contribution to ITRF network. Preparatory work for the study has started by selecting and consolidating geodetic points for further measurements.

Abstract A new and general approach for curvatures of conjugate surfaces is provided in this paper. The main characteristic of the approach is that relative curvatures and geodesic torsions of the conjugate surfaces are directly calculated in terms of the normal curvatures and geodesic torsions of the generating surface on two non-orthogonal tangents of surface curvilinears in global surface system. In comparison with the current approaches that use two orthogonal tangents or the principal directions in local system at each calculating point, the approach developed in this paper has a simple calculating process and a simple computer program. Based on the curvature equations, sliding velocities and sliding ratios of the conjugate surfaces are studied. The approach is illustrated by a numerical example of a plane enveloping globoidal wormgear drive.

Using certain models of twistors surfaces for fields of force [1], and the mathematical relationships that exist among fields, lines, surfaces and flows of energy [2], is designed and develops an impeller system of electromagnetic type based on the synergic study of the geodesics of their electromagnetic fields [3,4], to generate levitation, suspension and movement of symmetrical bodies without contact with surfaces [5]. The idea of this work is obtain a new method to flight and impulse of an electromagnetic vehicle by principle of super-conduction and some laws of the current such like Eddy currents and principles very similar to mechanics of sidereal objects such like galaxies under models of twistors surfaces [6], This vehicle will be controlled by one micro-controller that obtain the flow of Eddy currents to the iso-rotations and suspension of the vehicle of special characteristics.

Six geodetic datums have been used by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mississippi River Commission (MRC), for river surveys in the Lower Mississippi Valley (LMV). These legacy elevation datums are the Cairo datum, the Memphis datum, the Mean Gulf Level (MGL), the Mean Sea Level (MSL), the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD) 1929, and the North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88). The official geodetic datum currently prescribed by the USACE is NAVD88 (USACE 2010). In addition to these different geodetic datums, hydraulic datums are in use by the USACE for rivers, lakes, and reservoir systems. Hydrographic surveys from the Mississippi River are typically based on a low water pool or discharge reference, such as a low water reference plane (LWRP), an average low water plane (ALWP), or a low water (LW) plane. The following technical note is intended to provide background information about legacy datums used in the LMV to permit comparison of historic maps, charts, and surveys pertaining to the Mississippi River in the LMV. The purpose of this report is to provide background information and history of different published horizontal and vertical datums used for presentation of hydrographic survey data from the Mississippi River. The goal is to facilitate understanding of differences with comparison to other historic surveys for change-detection studies along the river. Conversion values are identified herein for the earlier surveys where appropriate, and methods are presented here to evaluate the differences between earlier and later charts and maps. This report is solely intended to address the LMV area and historic surveys made there. This note is not applicable to areas outside of the LMV. Throughout this technical note, historic hydrographic surveys and data from the Memphis, TN, to Rosedale, MS, reach will be used as examples of features of interest for discussion purposes. Selected historic hydrographic survey sheets at Helena, AR, are included as Plates 1 to 3 (Appendix C) of this document and will be used as examples for discussion purposes.

The Gulf Islands National Seashore (GUIS) vegetation inventory project classified and mapped vegetation on park-owned lands within the administrative boundary and estimated thematic map accuracy quantitatively. The project began in June 2016. National Park Service (NPS) Vegetation Mapping Inventory Program provided technical guidance. The overall process included initial planning and scoping, imagery procurement, field data collection, data analysis, imagery interpretation/classification, accuracy assessment (AA), and report writing and database development. Initial planning and scoping meetings took place during May, 2016 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi where representatives gathered from GUIS, the NPS Gulf Coast Inventory and Monitoring Network, and Colorado State University. Primary imagery used for interpretation was 4-band (RGB and CIR) orthoimages from 2014 and 2016 with resolutions of 15 centimeters (cm) (Florida only) and 30 cm. Supplemental imagery with varying coverage across the study area included National Aerial Imagery Program 50 cm imagery for Mississippi (2016) and Florida (2017), 15 and 30 cm true color Digital Earth Model imagery for Mississippi (2016 and 2017), and current and historical true-color Google Earth and Bing Map imagery. National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration National Geodetic Survey 30 cm true color imagery from 2017 (post Hurricane Nate) supported remapping the Mississippi barrier islands after Hurricane Nate. The preliminary vegetation classification included 59 United States National Vegetation Classification (USNVC) associations. Existing vegetation and mapping data combined with vegetation plot data contributed to the final vegetation classification. Quantitative classification using hierarchical clustering and professional expertise was supported by vegetation data collected from 250 plots in 2016 and 29 plots in 2017 and 2018, as well as other observational data. The final vegetation classification includes 39 USNVC associations and 5 park special types; 18 forest and woodland, 7 shrubland, 17 herbaceous, and 2 sparse vegetation types were identified. The final GUIS map consists of 38 map classes. Land cover classes include four types: non-vegetated barren land / borrow pit, developed open space, developed low – high intensity, and water/ocean. Of the 34 vegetation map classes, 26 represent a single USNVC association/park special, six map classes contain two USNVC associations/park specials, and two map classes contain three USNVC associations/park specials. Forest and woodland associations had an abundance of sand pine (Pinus clausa), slash pine (Pinus elliottii), sand live oak (Quercus geminata), yaupon (Ilex vomitoria), wax myrtle (Morella cerifera), and saw palmetto (Serenoa repens). Shrubland associations supported dominant species such as eastern baccharis (Baccharis halimifolia), yaupon (Ilex vomitoria), wax myrtle (Morella cerifera), saw palmetto (Serenoa repens), and sand live oak (Quercus geminata). Herbaceous associations commonly included camphorweed (Heterotheca subaxillaris), needlegrass rush (Juncus roemerianus), bitter seabeach grass (Panicum amarum var. amarum), gulf bluestem (Schizachyrium maritimum), saltmeadow cordgrass (Spartina patens), and sea oats (Uniola paniculata). The final GUIS vegetation map consists of 1,268 polygons totaling 35,769.0 hectares (ha) or 88,387.2 acres (ac). Mean polygon size excluding water is 3.6 ha (8.9 ac). The most abundant land cover class is open water/ocean which accounts for approximately 31,437.7 ha (77,684.2 ac) or 87.9% of the total mapped area. Natural and ruderal vegetation consists of 4,176.8 ha (10,321.1 ac) or 11.6% of the total area. Within the natural and ruderal vegetation types, herbaceous types are the most extensive with 1945.1 ha (4,806.4 ac) or 46.5%, followed by forest and woodland types with 804.9 ha (1,989.0 ac) or 19.3%, sparse vegetation types with 726.9 ha (1,796.1 ac) or 17.4%, and shrubland types with 699.9 ha (1,729.5 ac) or 16.8%. Developed open space, which can include a matrix of roads, parking lots, park-like areas and campgrounds account for 153.8 ha (380.0 ac) or 0.43% of the total mapped area. Artificially non-vegetated barren land is rare and only accounts for 0.74 ha (1.82 ac) or 0.002% of the total area. We collected 701 AA samples to evaluate the thematic accuracy of the vegetation map. Final thematic accuracy, as a simple proportion of correct versus incorrect field calls, is 93.0%. Overall weighted map class accuracy is 93.6%, where the area of each map class was weighted in proportion to the percentage of total park area. This method provides more weight to larger map classes in the park. Each map class had an individual thematic accuracy goal of at least 80%. The hurricane impact area map class was the only class that fell below this target with an accuracy of 73.5%. The vegetation communities impacted by the hurricane are highly dynamic and regenerated quickly following the disturbance event, contributing to map class disagreement during the accuracy assessment phase. No other map classes fell below the 80% accuracy threshold. In addition to the vegetation polygon database and map, several products to support park resource management are provided including the vegetation classification, field key to the associations, local association descriptions, photographic database, project geodatabase, ArcGIS .mxd files for map posters, and aerial imagery acquired for the project. The project geodatabase links the spatial vegetation data layer to vegetation classification, plot photos, project boundary extent, AA points, and the PLOTS database. The geodatabase includes USNVC hierarchy tables allowing for spatial queries of data associated with a vegetation polygon or sample point. All geospatial products are projected using North American Datum 1983 (NAD83) in Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) Zone 16 N. The final report includes methods and results, contingency tables showing AA results, field forms, species list, and a guide to imagery interpretation. These products provide useful information to assist with management of park resources and inform future management decisions. Use of standard national vegetation classification and mapping protocols facilitates effective resource stewardship by ensuring the compatibility and widespread use throughout the NPS as well as other federal and state agencies. Products support a wide variety of resource assessments, park management and planning needs. Associated information provides a structure for framing and answering critical scientific questions about vegetation communities and their relationship to environmental processes across the landscape.
