Nardelli, Michele. "Les histoires de Timagène d'Alexandrie : nouveaux fragments et nouvelles perspectives de recherche". Electronic Thesis or Diss., Rennes 2, 2024. http://www.theses.fr/2024REN20015.
Texto completo da fonteThis thesis delves into the study of Timagenes of Alexandria, a historian from the Augustan era, and his impact on Pompey Trogue’ Philippic Histories, Strabo's Geography, and Pliny the Elder's Natural History. By comparing ancient texts, latin and greek, we've discovered five new fragments of Timagenes' historical works, that merit inclusion in F. Jacoby’s collection. Thesefragments delve into Gaulish and Alpine history, a subject that Timagenes explored with particular interest through ethnography and ancient legends. Additionally, they reference the anabasis of Alexander, a topic Timagenes was familiar with through the works of Cleitarchus. The portrait of Timagenes that emerges from these fragments is that of an Alexandrian scholareager to impart Hellenistic knowledge to Roman cultural circles. It was in Rome that he undertook to teach Attic rhetoric and wrote his historical works, all while maintaining close ties with his hometown, Alexandria. From a historical perspective, Timagenes emerges as a worthy heir to the greek historiographical tradition, particularly that represented by Herodotus and Theopompus. Timagenes’ work exerted significant influence on the literary productions of the Augustan era, especially in the field of Gaulish and Alpine history: indeed, Pompey Trogue incorporated Timagenes’ accounts into the central books of his historical work (XXXXXII), while Strabo cited the historian in Book IV of his Geography
Salamone, Oreste. "Le papyrus de Derveni : de la formation du cosmos à la genèse des mots : introduction, édition critique, traduction, notes et étude monographique des fragments du papyrus". Thesis, Aix-Marseille, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016AIXM3078/document.
Texto completo da fonteSince his discovery in 1962, the Derveni Papyrus, the most ancient manuscript of Europe, has rase full of major questions about the transmission, the interpretation and the function of the orphic texts. The Derveni Papyrus offers us an emblematic testimony about the influence of Presocratic Philosophy on the orphic doctrines. This thesis is the first french critical edition of the Derveni Papyrus with a critical apparatus and notes on the text. This research paper also provides a monographic study of this document. We especially focused our attention on the orphic poem quoted by the author of the Derveni Papyrus, on the exegetical technics he employed and on the philosophical doctrines he proposed. We particularly compared the cosmological and philosophical theories of the Derveni Papyrus author with that of Heraclitus of Ephesus, Anaxagoras of Clazomenae, Diogenes of Apollonia and Archelaus of Athens
Solidoro, Cristina. "Frammenti latini tra le carte estensi : riflessioni sul contesto di riuso e catalogo descrittivo". Electronic Thesis or Diss., Université Paris sciences et lettres, 2024. http://www.theses.fr/2024UPSLP008.
Texto completo da fonteThis research focuses on manuscript fragments preserved in the State Archives of Modena which originate from the Archivio Estense: it has been revealed that a significant number of these fragments come from the bindings of volumes that make up the archival complex of the House of Este, the largest collection held at the State Archives of Modena - this archival fund spans from 1317 to 1797 and comprises a diverse range of documents in terms of quantity and types, yet it remains coherent due to its origin from a single institutional context. The thesis begins by providing a detailed analysis of the archival history of the fragment collection, tracing its origins and exploring its previous research paths. Additionally, it suggests an ideal expansion of the collection through a census, conducted during the research, that has led to the discovery and identification of approximately 50 new Latin fragments reused in the registers of the Archivio Estense, still in situ. Hence, it will be the first study to disclose a significant portion of the medieval manuscript heritage that has survived in fragmentary form and largely remained unpublished. In contrast to previous research that focused on the analysis of individual exemplars or groups of fragments with similar characteristics (for example, the Hebrew fragments or those with musical notation), this thesis offers a comprehensive approach by examining fragmentary evidence attributable to the same context of reuse. The core of the thesis focuses on the methodology developed for reconstructing provenances defined as "archaeological", i.e. related to the material context of fragment discovery, particularly focusing on witnesses reused in the bindings of the Archivio Estense registers.Furthermore, the thesis includes documentary fragments - typically excluded from fragmentology studies - providing additional research opportunities and offering significant insights into systematic aspects of reuse, especially within the domains ruled by the Este family. This interdisciplinary approach highlights the importance of archival and diplomatic studies in examining manuscript fragments, which were traditionally considered primarily from paleographical and codicological perspectives.A partial catalog of Latin parchment fragments attributed to the Estense Archives is presented, following the descriptive sheet model established in the Fragmentarium database. The analysis of the fragments includes the identification of content, dating, location, as well as material and historical-contextual aspects. In some cases, the common origin of multiple fragments has been recognized, allowing for the reconstruction of membra disiecta.Parallel to this research, a pilot project for digitizing fragments from the State Archives of Modena was carried out in collaboration with the ARCE Studies Center at the University of Bologna. This project focused on selected specimens for cataloging, with metadata coordination undertaken by the thesis author; a report on the activities conducted within the project is included in the thesis, along with reflections on the adopted methodologies

Texto completo da fonteThis thesis aims to offer a new edition, a French translation and a commentary for five fragmentary authors who wrote in Greek and are usually considered by scholars as historians: Eusebius (BNJ 101), Asinius Quadratus (BNJ 97), Glaucus (BNJ 674), Uranius (BNJ 675) and Candidus (BNJ 748). The five of them lived during Imperial age and Late antiquity. Each edition will be accompanied by an introduction about biographical and literary aspects (a description of testimonia and fragmenta, a review of manuscript tradition, a study of the structure and the content of the works, an analysis of the sources and the fortune, etc.). This thesis consists of four chapters: each of them is about an historian or a group of historians sharing common features. All of these authors have already been published or analyzed in the past by other scholars, but no general study was available. Besides this, several aspects of their tradition needed to be reexamined or deeply investigated. That is why we decided to study them: many new aspects have been discovered. Our approach is twofold: philological analysis is accompanied by a survey of historical data
Roques, Lisa. "Les fragments d'Ion de Chios : introduction, traduction et commentaire". Thesis, Bordeaux 3, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018BOR30039.
Texto completo da fonteThe works of Ion of Chios, a polymath writer of the fifth century B.C., have two particularities : firstly, they belong to different literary genres, secondly, they are uniquely fragmentary works, quotations quoted either by contemporary authors or by authors who lived after him. To study this fragments, we first need to present the historical context in which this works were written, in particular by showing the different kinds of links (political, military, economic, commercial, juridical or even cultic and cultural) between Chios island and the other Greek poleis and, first of all, between Chios and Athens. Thanks to this first analysis, it becomes possible to recount the life of Ion of Chios, his trips and his encounters, and, most of all, to reveal the major role he played (with his family) in the rising Athenian empire. Then, we have to establish the translation and the commentary of the different fragments : tragedies, elegies and lyrical pieces, philosophical treatise, philosophical logos, story of foundation, journeys. By considering the different literary genres that Ion wrote, we not only show the tribute and the contribution of Ion to literary tradition, but also the consistency of most of his works. Here, poetic and stylistic analysis meet historical and political issues. These fragments belonging exclusively to the "indirect tradition" of the text, we have to examine the intentions of the authors who quoted Ion of Chios. This search leads us to finally give an insight of the reception of Ion of Chios in Antiquity, from the classical period to the Byzantine Renaissance. It is here necessary to acknowledge the major role of Ion in literary history : he was not only a a leading figure and a role model for Hellenistic poets (Callimachus is the best example), but also a paradigm for the writers of the Second Sophistic, like Athenaeus or Plutarchus
Bergele, Argyro. "La Francocratie enseignée, une longue période d'histoire méprisée à enrichir : les manuels scolaires d'histoire (de 1974 à nos jours) de l'enseignement primaire et secondaire en Gréce et les manuscrits de Nicolas Politis". Thesis, Montpellier 3, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019MON30023.
Texto completo da fonteAbstractThis dessertation aims to investigate whether specific periods of time, such as the Franco-occupation in this case, constitute a subject of knowledge incomplete and marginalized.Having been in contact for many years as a teacher of history teaching and studying the curricula, i found that the information and knowledge transferred to the students for the period of Frankish rule in Greece(12th-14th century B.C) is insufficient for the essential knowledge of an important historical period for Greece.Although it has brought many changes to the pre-existing system of structure and functioning of society and it has also brought Greece into contact with the Western world, it did not receive substantial recognition and study from the Greek educational system. After studying the nine school manuals in history in primary and secondary education from 1974 to today, it was found that the reference to the period of Frankish domination is incomplete. The last part of the thesis includes the following proposition: The contents of the school history books may be enriched with the elements of folklore found in the archives at the Greek folklore center of the Greek founder of folklore,Nikolas Politis.Key words: History,Frankish period, historical manuals, folklore tradition, manuscript file
Chairi, Elpida. "Les fragments d'architecture grecque conservés au musée du Louvre". Paris 1, 1989. http://www.theses.fr/1989PA010634.
Texto completo da fonteThe fragments of Greek architecture, which are conserved in the Louvre Museum are very various. They come from different sites and monuments, represent different architectural types of elements and date between the archaic and the late Hellenistic period. Discovered during the surveys and excavations of numerous French missions, organized during the 19th century, in Greece and Asia minor, they come from different types of monuments : temples (like Assos, Artemis leucophryene at Magnesia on Maeander, Apollon of Didyma, Athena of Priene, Apollon of Delos and Bassai, Zeus of Olympia), public buildings (Miletus, Phocaea, Pella, Eleusis), or palaces, like vergina. Several fragments come from unknown buildings. They are partly published but these publications are ancient and non complete and have not been revised recently. The interest of these fragments must be proved because they have to be better known and valorised
Cohen-Skalli, Aude. "La Bibliothèque historique de Diodore de Sicile, fragments des livres VI-X : texte, traduction et commentaire". Thesis, Paris 4, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009PA040304.
Texto completo da fonteThis thesis offers a new critical edition of the second pentade of the Library of History, one of the many parts of Diodorus of Sicily’s universal history (first century B.C.), which was transmitted to us in fragments; along with this study comes a translation and a mainly historical, but also philological, linguistic and stylistic commentary. The indirect tradition, thanks to its compilation work, made the transmission of some of the text’s original parts possible; these parts go, historically, from the end of the mythological period (book VI) to the first Persian war (end of book X). It is relatively homogeneous and divided into two separate parts: on the one hand, the Excerpta Constantiniana (an Encyclopedia that Constantine VII Porphyrogenitus wrote in the Xth century) includes a large number of Diodorus’ fragments, mainly used for the moral enlightening they provide with. On the other hand, a few Christian and Byzantine authors have quoted Diodorus in their work (mainly chroniclers interested in his view on universal history). All introductory notes and other notes included in this analysis try to always link these reliquiae with their precise original and historical context, as well as with the general historiographical project of Diodorus’ work, in order to understand the method used by the Sicilian historian and to underline the specific interest of his work, putting aside its unquestionable value as a documentary, which the modern reader will certainly be able to appreciate
Tramonte, Julie. "Alcidamas d'Élée discours et fragments : avec introduction, texte, traduction, notes et commentaire des fragments et témoignages d’Alcidamas d'Élée, suivi d'une étude sur la constitution d'un vocabulaire psychologique chez Alcidamas". Thesis, Aix-Marseille, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015AIXM3142.
Texto completo da fonteThe main purpose of this work is to give access to the discourses, fragments and testimonials of Alcidamas of Elea (4th century BC), a rhetor born in Asia Minor, Gorgias' disciple and Isocrates’ great rival. This author is a relatively unknown figure of the history of philosophy. This work includes a first part introductive and methodological where are treated the problems posed by the very nature of the fragmentary corpus and of the quotation in Ancient Greece, the state of investigation and the motives why it is necessary to retranslate Alcidamas’ works. The second part is the translation itself: the discourses, fragments and testimonials are edited with an updated critical apparatus, an introduction, a translation and numerous complementary notes. A synthetic lexical study of the psychological vocabulary makes up the third part and aims to prove the existence in Alcidamas’ works of a philosophically consistent psychological vocabulary. This study will allow us to show the reason why a psychological vocabulary puts the emphasis on the coherence and innovative view of Alcidamas
Valls, i.

Texto completo da fonteThis work consists in an ad locum commentary, both historical and historiographical, on the first half part of the XXXI book of Diodorus Siculus’ Historical Library, that has reached us in fragments. This analysis is about the 34 fragments corresponding to the chapters 1-17b of F.R. Walton’s Loeb edition and to the remaining annalistic narration of the first Olympiad following the battle of Pydna (168/7-165/4BC = Ol. 153). The choice of the subject fits within a new general interest for the two last fragmentary decades of the Historical Library, and particularly for the so called ‘Roman’ books (XXIII-XL). A study of this section of Diodorus’ Bibliotheke seems nowadays essential for a better appraisal of the personality of the historian of Agyrion: this is because of the proximity of the author’s time to the events related and because of the great importance of the two last centuries of Roman history into the global economy of his work. The double perspective adopted aims to point out the historian’s interpretation of the facts narrated, but also to reconsider in an innovative way the problems characterizing the period analyzed, specially under the new light offered by the most recent contributions of the scientific research. Therefore, a privileged place is granted to the reflection on the causes and the procedures of the Roman expansion in the East, in a key-moment for the redefinition of the balance of power between the Urbs and the Greco-Hellenistic world, together with a particular attention to Diodorus’ writing, here considered in its relation with the Polybian tradition

Texto completo da fonteThis thesis is devoted to the critical edition of the work Metaphysics or First Philosophy written by Vikentios Damodos at Chavriata in Kefalonia in 1736. This is the first edition (edition princeps) of this work as evidenced by seven manuscripts in different places in Greece and elsewhere. Vikentios Damodos, philosophy teacher, was educated in Italy and has met there important scholars of his time. The result of these meetings appears through his work rich in philosophical and scientific ideas Enlightenment. It becomes a precursor of the Modern Greek Enlightenment. His interest in education, the language, the instruction of the Greeks, occupied at the time by the Venetians and Ottomans, in order to reach the level of the other European nations makes this scholar stand out in Modern Greek history. The edition is preceded by an introduction that attempts to illuminate the significant aspects of its production and its intellectual contribution to the philosophy of contemporary Greece
